The document outlines plans for an individual music video project. It will feature the artist Verity High-Five and explore themes of social constructs and class through a narrative style. 2. CREATIVE MUSIC VIDEO

Genre: Rock, however the music track that will be used for this creative
video will be quite instrumental with lyrics that are melodic; which can be
highlighted through the music video.

3. THE APPROACH
• THEME- Social constructs and class. How people are born into different
circumstances and because of that we all have to deal with our lives
differently, even though we are all born the same.
• This social construct will be represented through acting in a narrative
style music video. This will have characters from different social
constructs dealing with the different circumstances that they have to
come across throughout their lives.
• The main narrative style will be employed when there is use of lyrics in
the music track, whilst a performance style will be used when the
instrumental is playing; with focus on Verity’s guitar.

4. THE MUSIC TRACK

5. SOCIAL CONSTRUCT INSPIRATION

All”- the lyrics cover social issues of having a tough upbringing due to
one’s social background. The music video follows a man dealing social
issues.

this project. The voiceover is also what I want to employ in the music
video I’m going to create with Verity. The lyrics also highlight people’s

to deal with in in different ways.

6. REASONING BEHIND DECISIONS TAKEN
FOR MEDIA PROJECT
• The decisions we have taken so far with the music video is to have two
styles to it. The first style being the narrative style, which will employ
actors acting out within scenes with a running theme of social
backgrounds and class.
• The second style to the music video is the performance style, which will
employ the music artist, Verity and her band mates performing the
song with their instruments and lyrically. Also having great emphasis on
Verity’s guitar which she has used heavily to create the music track.

7. POSSIBLE CONTINGENCIES
• Need copyright to the music, so a contract needs to be filled out so
there is no illegal activity. Copyright is protection that allows a person to
benefit from “intellectual property” – which means it protects your right
to use it. Permission for copyright comes in the form of a licensing
agreement. When I am requesting the permission of the artist, I should
be prepared to describe the nature and purpose of the use, the extent of
the use and the distribution.
• Locations used for the music video, need permission from all places that
we want to film in. Although we can film relatively freely in public, as
soon as we enter private property (e.g. such as abandoned buildings),
restrictions may apply.
• I need to employ actors within a certain amount of time, or else there
will have to be a completely different set up idea for the music video.

8. CONSTRUCTIVE ANALYSIS OF
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
• The intentions of this project is to highlight the social construct that has
been created by society. Also how people are shaped by their
surroundings and what happens to them throughout their lives and how
this is dealt with.
• I believe that this could be an eye opener for its audiences, also
something to reflect on when watching as the audience members
would’ve experienced this themselves.

• I’ll be using my own Canon 100D, but also use of the tech’s team
equipment will be included-

• Both I, the director and the artist love this music video (Jake Bugg,

would love to manipulate some of the shots in the editing stage to have
this certain effect over it.
• Also the use of outside, public locations was favoured by the artist. Also
the use of guitar shots is going to be heavily used in our creative video.

12. WHAT WE WANT TO DO IN OUR MUSIC
VIDEO
• Verity has been inspired by many music videos from her favourite artists
and bands, these include The Police, “So Lonely” even though there is no
narrative to the music video, and it isn’t telling a story or taking the
audience anywhere – it still has trains within the music video to employ
the use of ‘movement’. Also the lyrics aren’t shown visually, with the
lyrics about love, however the use of walkie talkies sort of imply that he
is in need of someone and talking out loud for help in a romantic way.

13. WHAT WE WANT TO DO IN OUR MUSIC
VIDEO
• The use of location and camera effects is appealing to Verity, the music
artist. The use of camera techniques at a high angle and following the
band mates as they perform is what she wants to use in the music video
that we ae going to create.
• We are going to try and adapt this into our music video by researching
and finding buildings that we can get permission from and also fill out
risk assessments for to film on like this video.

• As we have employed a theme that many, if not all audience members
can relate to, the social impact is going to be significant on the audience
members.
• There is also going to be a mix of target audience members ages due to
the fact we will be taking inspiration and certain elements from older
music videos and adapting it into our own project. So this will attract an
older generation, but also be appealing to younger audiences whom it is
aimed at.

• Budgeting will be kept low, however if there is a use of actors their travel
and food will be paid for by the producer and artist.

bdudget- as it is a student led project.

• PERFORMANCE STYLE-
Verity will be involving bandmates that she is currently working with now
that want to be in the music video, these bandmates will be filmed in the
music video so will be signing talent release forms so they can be on

There will be actors employed for this project, as they will be able to play
the characters that are needed to highlight the different social constructs
and classes highlighted in the lyrics.
