INDIAN VILLAGES: Strength or
Weakness
- R. Sri Teja
What really a Village mean?
A village is a group of houses or a
community, larger than hamlet but smaller
than a town. Most of the land surrounding
is used for farming.
A village is also said to be a pollution
free, peaceful area located far from city
environment.
Indian Village
"The soul of India lives in its villages“
-M. K. Gandhi
India is a land of Villages. There are more than
6,40,000 villages in India.
According to 2011 census, more than 68.44%
people live in villages. They depend mostly on
Agriculture, Small Scale Industries.
Now the Question arises whether
Indian Villages are our Strengths or
Weakness ?
Indian Villages as Strength
 Dependency
 Small Scale Business
 Good Environment
 Limited wants
 People Potential
Dependency
 Our basic need is Food and it comes from
Villages.
 90% of the People who Built tall
Buildings in Cities are from Villages.
 In India, 52% of the Employment depend
on Agriculture.
 For export of Rice, Wheat, Sugar, Onion
etc we depend mostly on Villages.
Small Scale Industry
Indian Villages are promoting Small Scale
Industries like
 Handloom Industry
 Dairy farm
 Poultry farm
 Match box Industry
Good Environment
 Pollution less surroundings.
 Greenery.
 They don’t spoil fertility of land, but they
preserve it.
Limited wants
 Life style of the villagers is so simple. So
their needs are limited.
 Less consumption of :
◦ Fuel
◦ Electricity
◦ Transport
People Potential
Village people mostly are
 Hard working
 Unity
 Active
What Ails Indian Villages?
 Old Beliefs
 Education
 Not having proper facilities
 Agriculture may not yield sufficient
money
 Move towards city
 Forget the value of Village
Conclusion
Villages are the biggest support to
India. They are the one with which the
whole world recognizes India. They are
the ones that doesn't depend on any cities,
but every city depend on villages for their
survival. Inspite of all negative factors
positivity leads the way. So I want to
conclude that Villages are the biggest
strength to India.
Thank you
