Independent companies can fund their projects by raising money from
various projects or they can also secure funding from private investors

There are several differences between both independent and
mainstream films. Firstly, a mainstream film is one that is
shown typically in the cinemas ans they are made to make
money and to make a profit whereas an independent film is
not usually shown in cinemas and is made to make a point
and to get the audience asking questions and thinking about
it. Also, an independent film is usually made outside of
Hollywood with a much lower budget in comparison to the
mainstream films made in Hollywood by one of the big six
companies.
