This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Studying Sport Business Management
Currently studying planning for work based learning, business enterprise
management, sport and recreation leadership and sport and leisure events. Last
semester I studied Person Development Planning and got the highest score ever to
be given from my course leader Nick Halafihi. I have recently done marketing
module for launching a new innovative product, work based learning where I got
such good feedback it lead to paid work after the voluntary work was over. I did
all the advertising for the event and contacted external sources to market the
event. Outdoor adapted adventure working with and running classes for disabled
children, events management where we learned all the stages to go through in
running an event. Sports sponsorship where we had to create a package deal for
the club to invest in sponsors of rugby league. Economics and finance looking at
cash flow sheets etc. Now going into 3rd year I am currently looking at
participation and how to market rock climbing for students in my dissertation.

Work History
From age 11 I was involved in collecting eggs and packaging eggs ready for delivery for
my parents business Evergreen Enterprises. This taught me the commitment it takes to
do work to a sufficient standard.
As I got older I got more involved in the business and when I passed my driving test I
was also delivering the eggs. I would deliver to numerous shops and pubs in the local
area insuring customer satisfaction, dealing with accounts and building a return for the
business. This improved my communication skills and working under pressure if things
didn’t go to plan. An example of this is that on one occasion there was a mix up with
numbers for what was being delivered to which customers. This meant that I had to
work under pressure to meet the needs of all the customers.
I have been involved in the construction of numerous barns and sheds with the addition
of 3 houses and a farm shop. I was involved start to finish in the latest house, farm shop
and 4 sheds. Through doing this I have learned attention to detail and time management
with having to meet deadlines for specific things to keep the work going on track.
In have done voluntary work for Kingsway food catering service for work experiences. I
developed me confidence in this voluntary work by being more independent.
Recently I managed my granddads farm for a month looking after over 250 cattle. This
taught me organisation skills and management skills through managing the farms and
people involved with the farm.
I volunteered to work for City bloc an indoor rock climbing wall in Leeds managing
accounts, dealing with customers and even advertising the business for a charity
climbing event. I was in charge of the advertising promotions for the event working in
close contact with charities like Headway and organisations. This taught me how to plan
2. my time effectively and how to effectively market a business and be able to
communicate with people such as business advisers to get the best results. I got such
good feedback that it ended up leading to paid work.
Most recently I have trained to be a paintball Marcel and Armageddon Paintball and
passed the training in one of the fastest times and lead to paid work marcelling up to
groups of 25 at a time. This taught me to take control of large groups very demanding
and dangerous situations where. I also learn quickly which this marceling highlights this
with passing the training in such a quick time.
My hobbies
Outside of work I am a very active enthusiastic person. My hobbies are rugby, skiing and
socialising with my friend. I am very keen to get involved and try different sports especially
outdoor activates like kayaking or rock paintballing. Through playing rugby I have gained key
skills such as discipline and teamwork skills.

Education
2010 – 2013 Leeds metropolitan University
BA (Hons) Sport Business Management
Degree- Determinants of Demand for students in indoor rock climbing.
Modules include; Marketing, Economics & Finance, Managing People, Business idea,
Outdoor Adapted adventure, Events Management.
During my course I have undertaken such exercises as creating numerous business
products and examining how to make it a profitable business. My dissertation was to
critically analyse how a rock climbing centre could increase student participation by
looking at the determinants of demand and promotions that could be used. This
showed that by using new innovative tactics that a new target audience could be
capitalised on and make the business more profitable.
Through whole 3 years of the course marketing has been a key area of study which
would largely be marketing new products and businesses. It would look at all the
stages from the manufacture of the product all the way through to finish product and
give a projected 5 year plan. Going into this much detail on a product helped me when
I was asked to do the marketing City Bloc’s rock climbing charity event.
I have also analysed cash flow charts to identify what can be changed to make a
business profitable in the Economics & Finance module of my course.
In the Outdoor Adapted Adventure module I taught children with disabilities to do
numerous tasks such as team building activities and even taught them to rock climb. I
also taught disabled children new sports such as new age curling in the Events
Management course.
