2. Plato s The Meno, A Greek Philosopher And The Wisest Of...
Alexis Evans
Midterm Paper
11/4/14
Topic 1 In Plato s The Meno, Socrates, who was a Greek philosopher and considered one of the
wisest of all people expresses his views on the relationship between knowledge and virtue. In
todays era, virtue is defined as having good morals as a human being. Knowledge is defined as
factual information and skills that are acquired by a person through experience or education.
Together Socrates makes a statement and or beliefs, that virtue is knowledge because if you know
what is right, you will in fact do what is right. While in a conversation with Socrates, Meno then
asks if virtue can ever be taught. Socrates answers his question in that they both have to discuss at
that point if virtue can be taught because he is uncertain. They must first define clearly what virtue
is to even answer Meno s question of if virtue can even be taught or not. At the end of the debate,
the final conclusion Socrates makes is that virtue is not something natural or can never be taught.
Socrates then believes that it is just simply a gift from god that we all receive it without ever
realizing. Through the process, Meno and Socrates go at it, Meno thinking he is getting close to the
correct answer just to have Socrates shot it down. After a few times of Meno guessing, he doesn t
have anything else to say and gives up. Socrates main argument responds with that learning is not
discovering anything new but rather remembering something the soul knew before your

3. Importance Of Voting In Texas
Texas has a long ballot, which is an election system that provides for the election that lists all
candidates, for all positions, from all political parties, available to a specific voting district. The
long ballot includes the president and vice president, two U.S. senators, U.S. Representatives,
governor of Texasand five other state executive officials, three railroad commissioners, one
member of the State Board of Education (SBOE), one state senator, one state representatives, nine
members if the Texas Supreme Court, Nine members of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, at
least two and as many as 70 or more state appellate and district court judges, and numerous local
officials varying in city officials to county executives. Being that... Show more content on

Had the ballot been shorter, they believe their decisions could have had more knowledgeable. I
believe that it is important to be well informed when going to vote, and it has now been brought
to my attention that the ballot will contain many positions to vote on, so I will be sure to
research candidates and show up to the voting station informed and sure of my decisions. In
Texas, there are a few types of elections held: general elections, primary elections, runoff elections
and special elections. The general election is held in November of even years statewide to fill
state and national offices. The primary is an election held within each party to choose the party
s candidates for general elections. Runoff elections are held if no candidate in the primary
election receives the majority of votes. Special elections are held outside of the regular election
calendar to fill unexpected vacancies. Because Texas holds a few types of elections, people
believe Texas has too many elections, but I disagree and find that the amount of elections held are
necessary to access situations such as vacancies and allow for voters to practice their right to vote

4. Experimental Experiment
The trial conducted by the University examining a drug s effect on individual s speaking habits
was conducted in the form of an experimental study. The researchers chose to create two groups to
participate: a treatment group that received the drug and a control group that was given a placebo.
Based on how the treatment group responded to the drug compared to the control group without the
drug, researchers could state that the drug led to improved speech. This structure of study differs
from a correlational study where there are no variables being manipulated, and the intent is to find a
correlation between two measured variables. In addition, an experimental study can lead
researchers to determine a relationship between the independent and... Show more content on

Additionally, the drug could have an impact on the prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain
responsible for decision making (among other things). Those in the treatment group could
experience a decline in their ability to evaluate a situation and make the right decision they
would have fewer inhibitions on their actions. These personality and decision making changes
were not observed as a part of this study, but the treatment group did report a decrease in ability
to move the left side of their body. This decrease in function of the left side of the patients bodies
could be a result of the drug affecting more areas of the frontal lobe than strictly the Broca s area;
among other roles, the frontal lobe is responsible for controlling the movement of muscles and a
stimulation of the right frontal lobe could result in decreased motor function of the left side of the
body. This commonly reported side effect suggests that the drug is unable to target only one
portion of the brain the entire frontal lobe is likely affected. A glaring error in the design of this
study is the inconsistencies in the treatment and control groups. The treatment group consisted of
aspiring actors looking to overcome a stuttering problem, whereas the control group was a group of
children with delayed verbal development. The results gathered by the trial note what happens to
the actors after they

5. Tone In Siren Song, The Sirens
In all three works of art, the epic poem (The Odyssey), Atwood s poem ( Siren Song ), and
Waterhouse s Ulysses The Sirens, all portray the Sirens differently by the author s tone. Waterhouse
uses art to set the dramatic and threatening tone while The Odyssey uses poetry to set the dramatic
tone. The tone of Atwood s poem depicts the Sirens as being mischievous yet bored.
First, Waterhouse uses art to portray the Sirens as dramatic and threatening by the choice of the
colors used. Odysseus is dressed in white which draws the eye to him as the main focal point,
while the Sirens are in all black, surrounding Odysseus and his men. The contrast in color depicts
Odysseus as to be heroic while draped in white, while the Sirens appear to be dark and
threatening. The Sirens hovering around the boat and trying to grasp the sailors attention, also
makes this piece of art look more menacing. From what we know from reading Homer s Odyssey, it
would appear that this is the artist s interpretation of how he saw the sirens and the sailors. ... Show

In this epic poem, the tone is dramatic because of the words used to depict not only the Sirens but
Odysseus and his men. The author used words like flunged and harder , making the sentence more
dramatic and giving us a vivid image of the scene. When the author described the Sirens, he used
words like ravishing and thrilling . When mentioning the song, the tone changed from dramatic to
condescending. The tone changed to condescending because in the song, the Sirens are praising
Odysseus and saying famous Odysseus Archaea s pride and glory . This makes the tone seem
condescending because they are only trying to bring Odysseus to the

6. Homeless Students During Modern Society
Homeless Students in Modern Society
What do you think of when you hear the word homeless? Maybe you think of the people begging
for work on the side of the streets. You might imagine drug addicts running from shelter to shelter.
Actually, about half of the homeless people in the world are children and students, who do not
abuse drugs. Sadly, the number of Homeless Students and Children in Caldwell county, and across
the nation, is increasing, and the academic, social, and physical effects are devastating.

This university offers a lot of career opportunities compared to other colleges. I know this because
I gained insight through the PEOPLE Program. During the summer of 2017, I had the opportunity
to be an intern at the law school. Doing so, I analyzed statutes, met with state representatives, for
example the first Latina representative Jocasta Zamarripa, and learned how to network when
majoring in legal studies; lastly, I was fortunate to be an advocate for those who experienced being
trafficked by speaking to community members about their struggles and why we need to help them.
The PEOPLE Program allowed me to explore law and made me certain that this is the school for
me socially. Due to Bascom Hill snowball fights, hanging out at Memorial Union and the yearly
traditions (my favorite is the law school tradition legend says that as you run and toss your cane

are two major components. First requirement is to examine the financing alternatives available

that their work is to make money while the work of the FDA was to ensure that products from

impunity and disregard of quality and safe productions.
Monsanto and Small Farmers Dairy
Small farmers have been at a loss with regard to farm produce. Small farmers have been subjected

small farmers were contaminating the company s produce leading to cross pollination. This resulted
in impure seeds that were less than perfect when subjected to harsh products like the company s

When couples divorce, it is not uncommon for one spouse to be left unable to support him or
herself. In these cases, the Court may order the spouse with the greater income to pay alimony to
the spouse in need. Alimony, also called spousal maintenance, is a crucial financial safety net for
spouses who cannot support themselves after divorce. There are several different kinds of Florida
alimony that serve various purposes. Alimony can be temporary, bridge the gap, rehabilitative,
durational, or permanent.
Temporary alimony may be awarded while the divorce is pending, to be terminated once the
divorce is finalized. Temporary alimony helps the supported spouse meet their immediate financial
needs until a final alimony award can be ordered. Bridge the gap alimony is short term alimony
used to help the supported spouse maintain the standard of living they enjoyed during the marriage
until they can become self supporting. Bridge the gap alimony cannot exceed two years and
cannot be modified. Rehabilitative alimony may be awarded to a spouse so they can prepare to

At points you can only keep so many fish or even one kind of fish. With commercial fishing each
boat/person is allowed a number of fish or it can be pounds. The breaking point for Canada came
Tobin said last week, when Alaska would not agree to reduce its catch of chinook salmonbelow
230,000 fish. (The West Coast War) Canada wanted Alaska to lower the amount of chinook salmon
caught by fisherman in the river that goes into Canada from Alaska. They wanted it because
more fish would be coming into Canada to help with the next chinook salmon run. Places put
laws of fish that will help the fish population or just help stocks to come back from being over
fished in years past. The number of fish became so few that Canada enacted a moratorium on
cod fishing to allow stocks to recover. (Environmental Consequences) There was less and less
cod being caught because of being overfished so Canada put laws in them to help the population
to come back. The United states has also placed severe restriction on the industry, cutting back the
amount of time that people can fish and reducing to total amount of cod that could be caught.
(Environmental Consequences) With cutting the time and the amount of fish that people can
caught that gives the fish time to recover from being overfished. Some places allow fishermen to

In nineteenth century France power and success relied greatly on your gender. If you were a

Sand did not let the fact that she was a woman stop her from taking many lovers and becoming a

An insane man suffocates and stifles an innocent old man because he does not like the old man s
pale blue, vulture like eye, yet he claims to be sane. In The Tell Tale Heart, by Edgar Allan Poe, the
main character, the narrator, is haunted by an old man s pale blue eye. The narrator is haunted
so much by the eyes that he decides to get rid of the eye, even if it meant getting rid of the old
man too. In the end, the narrator ends up a telling the police where he concealed the old man s
dead body to the police, on account of him being insane. Even though the narrator claims to be
sane, I can tell by his actions, thoughts, and words, that he is clearly insane. The narrator loves
the old man but is haunted but the old man s evil eye. The narrator makes up his mind to kill the
old man and to get rid of the eye. The text states, It is impossible to say how first the idea entered
my brain; but once conceived, it haunted me day and night. Object there was none. Passion there
was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult.

Everyone has personality traits. Some people are shy while others are outgoing and some people
are optimistic and some are pessimistic. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a
personality trait and a disorder. Personality disorders are diagnosed when ways of seeing,
interpreting, or behaving in the world become inflexible and maladaptive. A personality disorder
causes distress to self or others. A personwith a personality disorder has trouble perceiving and
relating to situations and to people. This causes significant problems and limitations in
relationships, social encounters, work and school (Personality 2015).
When diagnosing a patient, it is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cluster A personality disorders are characterized by odd, eccentric thinking or behavior. Paranoid
personality disorder would fit under Cluster A. Cluster B is the wild cluster. People with these
disorders have very dramatic, emotional or erratic behaviors. Cluster C personality disorders are
characterized by anxious, fearful thinking or behavior. This cluster includes dependent personality
disorder (Personality 2015).
Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed personality
disorders. The terrifying fear of being left alone and being abandoned are both signs of DPD.
When faced with this disorder you really cling to other people, usually a significant other. You get
self satisfaction by being wanted by another person. Fourteen percent of people with personality
disorders are diagnosed with DPD (Ekern 2013).
The causes of dependent personality disorder to this day are unknown. Both biological and
developmental factors are most likely involved (Dependent 2015). There are multiple speculations
as to why people obtain this disorder like overprotective parenting. Also, one s social environment
can play a role in DPD. In all most all cases the patient experiencing DPD has faced some sort of
abuse or trauma, making them stick to another person (Ekern

22. Ethical Analysis Of Nike
1)
The Transnational Corporation (TNC) that I have chosen to research on is Nike. Nike was
founded in January of 1964. Their headquarters are located in Beaverton, Oregon. The shoes that
are being provided to consumers worldwide, however, are produced in hundreds of factories
around the world. Ironically, Nike shoes have never been produced in factories in the United States.
The largest producers are the factories located in China, Vietnam and Indonesia. Nike hires factory
owners to produce the shoes using the materials and designs provided by Nike. Nike does not
directly own any of these factories. The company itself focuses almost solely on designing the
shoes, and after they have been produced by the factories, Nike then advertises and markets the
shoes in the most appealing way possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The round robin is a livestock show at the Brown County Fair where kids 7th grade and older
show a variety of different animals. It s a large showmanship contest where a person is judged on
how they show the animal. My best friend had signed me up for it. I signed you and Abby up for
the round robin. she said.
Ugh, I complained, I m terrible at showmanship.
Well too bad. she laughed.
This year had a new twist to the contest. We had to show beef, sheep, swine, and rabbits, but we
couldn t show our own animals. Abby, Mikayla, and I walked around the barns to find animals to
show. We went to beef first. Hey Brooke, can we show three of your cows for round robin? we
asked in unison.
Of course. They re all pretty tame.
Thanks! We practice for about 30 minutes and then moved to our next animals. We didn t have to
practice with sheep and swine because we already know how to show them, so we went to rabbits,
Hey Winston, can we show your rabbits for round robin?
Yeah, you can have the 3 on the end. He said.

Digging Deep
On my journey to the center of the earth I saw several cool things and learned what s really
underneath my feet. Since the layers of the Earth have planetary differentiation, I closely studied
each one. I decided to entered through the dead sea, because it is the lowest point on dry land, but
because of it s hypersaline water that makes floating easy, my team built me an air bubble to put
around my submarine so that I could go through the water easily.
Once I made it to the bottom of the sea I attached a shovel to the tip of my submarine and started
digging through the crust, which is right under the oceanic crust. As I made my way through the
thin crust I noticed that it was made up of granite, basalt, and diorite rocks. I saw several more
different types of rocks that fall within these three categories; igneous, metamorphic, and
sedimentary. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I made it to the final layer of the earth, the Inner core. This is the hottest layer reaching 10832

I finally made my way through all the other layers after passing the inner core, and I am now In

26. Character Changes In Romeo And Juliet
In this essay I will characterize Romeo and how he changed over the play and the film Baz
Luhrman directed.
Romeo in the film is always compared to blue or Water. I think the director decided to associate
Romeo to blue to show the audience that he is a calm and trusting person. For example he is
always wearing a blue shirt. He is also associated to water, I think the director decided to do this
because water is neutral, no one owns the water. So when he is with Juliet he isn t the Montague
, he is only a boy. This because water is clean and washes away his name. In the balcony scene
when Romeo and Juliet fall in the water is like both their names were cleaned off and they could
be children again. The film shows us their child innocence and ... Show more content on

When he goes there he is clumsy and tripping over everything. He risks his life to see her, which
is not practical, not only for him, who is risking being caught and being sentenced to death
penalty, but also her, Juliet, which if caught is going to be in trouble with her family. In the
Elizabethan times, wealth family girls being caught disoubeying their parents would be sent to a
nuns house, where they were not allowed to see men. The clumsiness when he enters Juliet s
house is a big contrast to the Romeo we saw at the beach who was calm. Although we still see
some indifference towards life. We know this because he risks his life to see Juliet not caring if he
got caught. This suugests the audience that he is still not completely changed and committed to
Juliet. This scene also contrasts the ball room scene that he looks in control. We know this because
the types of shots Baz Luhrmann used in that scene and the balcony scene are different and show
different things. In the ball room scene the shots are straight forward, which suggests he is in
control of how people see him. Then in the balcony scene most of the shots are close up to show
emotions or overhead shots to show vulnerability and young

Biblical Theology of Worship Throughout our time in Church, and here at Moody, it is hard to go
through it without being told that a priority we should put in our relationship with God is that we
should worship him. But what does that mean and how do we do it? What does the bible say about
worshiping God? Worshipis the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for God. I think
that we can show that through our daily actions and also through singing to God and praying to
him, as we most commonly see in Church When we envision worship in our minds, we commonly

If they knew why we do what we do in worship on Sunday then they would be much more

on Sunday morning, what better place to look than at some of the churches that Paul wrote to in
his epistles, because apparently we aren t the only ones that are struggling to find out what the
best way of planning corporate worship is. The first verse that anyone goes to for Corporate
Worship is found in Colossians 3:16 when Paul tells the Colossians to, Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. The first step that Paul gives
to the Colossians is to let the word of Christ dwell in you richly , showing there is a connection
between Corporate Worship and the reading of the Word of God. It almost appears as if Paul is
saying we need to read the Word first before we can all come together in worship of God. Then
Paul says we should be teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, This section shows
us two things: teaching, and fellowship. We need to be taught about the word of God and also we
need to keep in touch with other believers and go through life with them, learning from them and
vice versa. Hebrews 10:25 is an example of this, saying we shouldn t be neglecting seeing each

32. Analysis Of George Berkeley s Philosophy
George Berkeley is considered one the greatest modern philosophers, yet when he is studied he is
seen as misguided and inaccurate. It seems that sometimes we study his errors more than his
achievements. Many critiques of Berkeley are results of misunderstanding Berkeley s philosophy.
One very famous critique is from Samuel Johnson who lived around the same time as Berkeley.
Johnson kicked a stone and said, I refute it thus . Why did Johnson believe he could refute
Berkeley by kicking a stone? Did he misunderstand Berkeley, and if not what did he mean by this?
To discover what Johnson meant we must first learn about what he was refuting. Berkeley has
three main beliefs: 1. Idealism: the only things that exist are minds and their ideas; 2.
Phenomenalism: Physicals objects are big collections of possible senses; and 3. Immaterialism:
there is no such thing as a physical substance (something that exists independently). With Berkeley
s beliefs he has two motivations: 1. to oppose skepticism and 2. to promote religion, Berkeley was
a bishop of the Anglican church so you can see why promoting religion was so important to him.
Berkeley was an empiricist. Empiricism is the theory that all knowledge is derived from sense
experiences. Some other famous empiricists are Thomas Locke and David Hume. Berkeley is
thought to be the bridge between Locke and Hume. Locke believed that primary qualities such as
length, shape, and motion existed in the world. While secondary qualities such

Air Quality with Forest Fires Since 1970, raging forest fires have doubled. Climate Central
reports, this is because of climate change which has brought hotter summers and longer fire
seasons. Throughout this paper, I will go over how forest fires are contributing to air pollution,
ground ozone, the impacts on humans, and the response to the problem. This is a problem that
individuals can t help but there are ways they can keep safe and stay healthy when forest fires
arise in their areas. Naturally occurring forest fires are a necessity for certain species like the
lodgepole pine tree. Fire helps reduce competition and help the species release its seeds.
According to National Geographic, each year there is an average of more than 100,000 forest
fires that clear 4 million to 5 million acres of land in the United States. Intense wildfires have
been on the rise, increasing to 9 million acres of land due to climate change, drought, and other
conditions. These fires can damage forests so badly that it takes years for them to naturally
recover. Forest fires are caused when you have the fire triangle which is fuel, oxygen, and a heat
source. The more fuel, trees, grasses, and brush, the more intense the fire can become. National
Geographic states, the West is the most common place in the United States for forest fires. Heat,

Before the start of this experiment, the theoretical yield was calculated. Based off the data, it was

relating the moles of the limiting reagent to the moles of the anticipated product by a ratio
obtained from the overall equation. The theoretical yield was calculated to be 1.3 g. However, the
actual yield obtained was greater than the theoretical yield; in other words, the actual mass of the
product was higher than the theoretical mass. This led to an abnormally high yield of 320% and an
impure product. Though the experiment was carried out smoothly, errors may have occurred that

The two peaks next to each other, 2360.23 cm 1 and 2341.78 cm 1, most likely indicated a nitrile

though. The peaks were most likely as the result of an incomplete reaction or a reaction that did
not go to completion. The product probably did not completely tautomerize, showing an alkyl or
nitrile group. The crude product was also not completely dried, as indicated from the presence of
an OH group at the 3383.38 cm 1 peak. Figure 2 depicts the infrared spectrum of the crystallized
product. The two peaks, signifying the nitrile or alkyl stretch, were still on the spectrum, but
smaller. However, a peak at 3380.36 cm 1 indicates that an OH stretch is still present in the
crystallized product. This verifies that the product was not pure; that OH group was likely from
methanol, the solvent used to purify the crude product. In order to remove the methanol/OH group,
the crystallized product was left to dry in an oven for several minutes to spur dehydration. After
that, another IR spectrum was taken for the dried product (Figure 3). In this spectrum, there was no
alcohol peak, which indicates that the product became pure; the compound lost the hydroxyl group
and no methanol was found in the pure product. As a result, Figure 3 is the desired

underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven
development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and
human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial
period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa
was messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers
greed for luxury goods and European products. The effect of this trade was devastating in that it
caused considerable dislocation and disruption in the local economy, caused internal conflict as a
result of slave raiding and a huge loss of African labor. (Rodney ignored the Arab slave trade,

Rodney puts together a biting criticism of Europe s interaction with Africa starting in the 15th
century with trading, both the slave trade and the trade in goods. This essentially killed inter Africa
trade, forcing African civilizations to only trade with European and other western economies. This
also changed the economies of African civilizations to suit what the traders wanted, whether human
beings, cotton, or minerals. When European powers grew as a result of the profits from trade, they
then carved Africa into its current state and entered the continent to force more and more
production of things that would increase profit for the western markets. Banks, industries, and
nations prospered by the use of underpaid, sometimes forced African labor. Meanwhile,
civilizations fell apart and education came to a stand still. This book left me further convinced in
the concept of reparations, not just for slavery, but for the destruction of an entire continent and all

36. Time Series Forecasting And Neural Networks
Abstract
Time series forecasting plays an important role in the academic and practical domains. Many
researchers have studied on this area from several years. There are many models which are used to
improve the accuracy of time series forecasting. In this paper, I have focused on one method i.e.
Neural Networks. In the first section of the report, I will give brief introduction on time series
forecasting and neural networks. In the next part, I will explain this neural method which is used
for forecasting in the literature review. At last, I will conclude the paper. Moreover, the main aim
of this paper is to define the neural network method among the different methods in the time series
forecasting.
Introduction
Time series forecasting is a quantitative model. It means that historical results are gathered to
produce the results to predict the future. This model is used in that situation where no
information is available or provided data is not satisfactory. Time series is a series of
experiments which is measured to get successive results such as, x1, x2, x3.......Xt 2, Xt 1 Xt.
These experiments may be done every day, every hour or every year. It is important to understand
the data pattern to achieve the aim that hoe variables behaved in the past. It has two types of
models which are linear and non linear. Moreover, linear methods are easy to construct and
understand. This is used when there are a huge number of forecasts to be done. Many researchers

The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors
its offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost
leadership or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly
focused players. Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve
any of them as stuck in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually
exclusive alternatives. He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of
these strategies simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed
to follow one of the strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability.
This objective of this paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as

application of porter s generic competitive strategy before drawing vital conclusions on the subject.

That s why I choose option 2 cause of action for invasion of privacy because with everything that

What fields came together to form psychology?
Psychology viewed as an old discipline. Psychology can trace its roots to the 5 century BC to the
Greek philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Socrates, because we grapple with the same
questions they attempted to answer. On the other hand, we could view psychology as emerging
when philosophy and physiology merged to include experimentation and empirical methods to
answer those questions about 200 years ago. Thus, it also viewed as a new discipline in 1879,

There were contextual forces as well as work in America to foster the growth of applied
psychology. The number of people with a Ph. D. in psychology rose and there were not enough
academic positions to employ them, and when one attained a teaching job many administrations
did not value (or fund) psychology programs. As psychology was a newest science when
compared to physics and chemistry...received smallest financial support, so need to proof that
psychology is useful in solving social, educational and industrial problem in order to improve
budgets. An emerging societal problem was a dramatic increase in public school enrollment, which
opened doors for some psychologists. Thus, the focus of psychology shifted towards the application
in solving real world problem.

43. Analysis Of Sex Pistols Anarchism, Freedom, And Power
During the 1970s, anarchy engulfed the minds of British youth because they felt that authority was
denying their freedom with excessive rules and regulations. William O. Reichert the author of
Anarchism, Freedom, and Power argues Anarchist insists that the idea of human liberty, while it
cannot be made an absolute, must be maintained as the highest of all human values. Freedom, that
is to say is the essential characteristic of a fully developed humanity...Nevertheless it must not be
lost sight of as the guiding star of all social science, for to be human is to be free. This quote
illustrates that experiencing life in total freedom is the philosophy that grounded anarchismand
influenced the outbreak of the punk subculture. However, during... Show more content on

Despite the basic choices in design, the magazines effectively were able to communicate the
message of anarchy to British youth. However, a year later, in 1977, punk bands started to
incorporate more successful design elements. For example, [fanzines] compiled photographs of
desolate and graffitied London landscapes that reflected punk s dystopian vision of No Future
...the graphic design of punk zines soon advanced to incorporate collage, montage, illustration
and a wider colour palette that contrasted with the simply typed or handwritten black and white
aesthetic of most earlier examples. This stark change in the punk aesthetic is seen London s
Outrage, no. 2, 1977, title page and p. 3 (See image 3) . On the right side of the magazine
spread, there is a black and white photo of an apartment building, a young teenager, and the
typeset headline that says London s Outrage. The typography of this layout is quite notable and
exudes chaos. For example, the L and the O are cut off by the edge of the paper. Additionally,
the word London is set on a diagonal path which is crooked that leads the viewers eye to a
building. The word Outrage is kinked too, but not nearly as pronounced as London. On the left
side of the magazine spread, there is a photo of a landscape that looks trashed and desolate.
However, on the bottom, hand written letters say Ay
