• Your most important asset is …
• Take control of your career
• Tools to develop your leadership skills
Leadership
What is Leadership, again?
Leadership is a process by which one person influences the
thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors of others.
Some Quotes
• Peter Drucker: “The only definition of a leader is someone who has
followers.”
• Warren Bennis: “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into
reality.”
• Bill Gates: “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be
those who empower others.”
• John Maxwell: “Leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less.”
• Dwight D. Eisenhower : “Leadership is the art of getting someone else
to do something you want done because she/he wants to do it.”

to inspire others so that
they maximize their efforts towards
the achievement of
a transformational goal (vision).

Editor's Notes

  1. Why talking about leadership Few things are more important to human activity than leadership. Effective leadership helps our nation through times of peril. It makes a business organization successful. It enables a not-for-profit organization to fulfill its mission. The effective leadership of parents enables children to grow strong and healthy and become productive adults. One of the most studied topic in business school Software so complex, that you cannot do it alone, so you need to work in teams and groups, and A software Engineer’s Career Adventure at hybris: axis impact and influence https://wiki.hybris.com/display/prodandtech/A+Software+Engineer%27s+Career+Adventure+at+hybris
  2. Seniority Often when thinking about leadership in a company, it’s referring to the most senior, but that’s not always the case You don’t need to be senior to have leadership Titles e.g. can be a leader in your neighborhood, community, family Some have title with no leadership. Personality Charismatic, can learn, you are not born with leadership
  3. The difference between management and leadership are often misunderstood. Essentially, management is an organizational commission and leadership is the action taken to perform transformational and alignment tasks (Kotter, 1990a). However, both are essential to organization. As stated by (Kotter, 1990b), “Without good management, complex enterprises tend to become more chaotic in ways that threaten their very existence. Good management brings a degree of order and consistency to key dimensions like the quality and profitability. Leadership, by contrast, is about coping with change. ” For instance, military troops are managed during an era of peace but also need to be lead on the battlefield when the opportunity calls for it. If an individual is capable of exerting enough influence upon the overall goal achievement of others in an organizational context, then Leadership occurs (Johns, Gary, 1996c). The function of leadership is really to produce a change.

Shyness has, at its heart, a fear of negative judgment by others. Think of the difference this way: If asked to a party, an introvert might think about whether they wanted to expend their precious supply of social energy. A shy person, however, might think about how others at the party would perceive them. As author Susan Cain explained in “Quiet,” her landmark book on introverts: “Shyness is the fear of social disapproval or humiliation, while introversion is a preference for environments that are not overstimulating.” One stays home from the party from preference, in other words, and the other from fear.
