  • #12 Talking Points:We recently announced a new edition to the Virtual Connect line that joins the Virtual Connect Flex-10 10Gb module of products that deliver on that HP FlexFabric blueprint. But it also takes convergence to the next level. In late summer, we’re targeting availability of the Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb/24-Port module - the simplest, most flexible way to connect servers to any network. There are 3 new components: 1) the next VC module, the HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb/24-port module with VC firmware version 3.10, 2) new FlexFabric Adapters integrated onto G7 server blades, and 3) the new HP NC551m FlexFabric Adapter mezzanine card for G6 servers. FlexFabric Adapters will be available on new AMD based server blades in June. The remaining products will ship in late summer and in the case of some Intel blades, later in the year. The VC FlexFabric modue extends all the benefits of Flex-10 technology and more. It converges data and storage traffic inside enclosures to stop sprawl at the server edge by providing one adapter and one interconnect module that connect servers to any data or storage network whether its Ethernet, Fibre Channel or iSCSI.With VC FlexFabric modules, customers will be able to converge network and storage connections inside the enclosure while connecting all servers in the enclosure directly to any industry standard network with no forklift upgrades.
  • #13 Talking Points:While Virtual Connect modules are not switches, they are fully compatible with all industry standard Ethernet and Fibre Channel infrastructure from a wide variety of vendors. In fact, every product is extensively qualified with switch products from leading vendors such as HP Networking (ProCurve & 3Com), Cisco, Brocade and Juniper. In addition, testing occurs with a number of operating system/hypervisor products and target storage arrays. HP is committed to ensuring interoperability with the network infrastructure that our customers deploy.
