1) The document examines the impact of rural electrification on welfare in Ethiopia using panel data from 2012, 2016, and 2019. 2) Preliminary results show some positive impacts of electricity access on girls' schooling, market participation, and potential off-farm income, but the impacts are not always statistically significant. 3) Access to reliable electrification data is a challenge, and linking electricity to productive uses could help strengthen welfare outcomes. Future work will evaluate a solar mini-grid project and productive uses of electricity.
