ILSC’s Leader in Training Program is a leadership
development program for enthusiastic youth who want
to become junior leaders. As a Leader in Training, you will
shadow current Junior Program staff as they lead a variety of
extracurricular activities in and around San Francisco.
 Combine English language classes with exciting afternoon
and weekend activities.
 Learn counseling and leadership skills, how to plan and
organize dynamic activities, and more with a week of
morning in-class training.
 Apply your new skills as you shadow ILSC activities leaders
on dynamic activities.

at the California State University (Cal State) campus at Long
Beach, and explore amazing Los Angeles (LA). Cal State Long
Beach is a 322 acre campus located just a short drive to LA.
Live, eat, study, and play at the university with other youth
students from all over the world. Travel off campus to
explore beautiful Long Beach and check out all the exciting
sights in downtown Los Angeles! Experience the perfect

ILSC can provide homestay options to students taking our
International Academy programs. Feel safe and supported
in a home away from home. We will place you with a family
experienced in hosting students your age. Practise your English
skills at home while you connect with your Canadian family.

13–15 years old with the English skills they need to be
successful in Canadian public or private secondary schools.
Take ESL Bridge and transfer to the school of your choice,
or get a complete ESL + High School package by taking our
partnership program with School District 42 in Maple Ridge.

education system. The course content is aligned
with public school curriculum to help make
your transition easier.

paragraph and essay writing are taught in
dynamic and interesting ways

Combine ILSC’s ESL-High School Bridge program
with Maple Ridge’s High School Program. Begin
taking ILSC’s ESL-High School Bridge program at
the ILSC-Vancouver campus. When you’re ready,
start your High School Program in the Maple
Ridge School District, and combine your studies
with ILSC’s After-school ESL program (offered
in Maple Ridge) for continued English language
support. You can add optional homestay to your
program, and SD 42 offers ongoing support
during your High School Program.

As a Leader in Training, you will shadow current Junior Program staff as they lead a variety of extracurricular activities in and around San Francisco.  Combine English language classes with exciting afternoon and weekend activities.  Learn counseling and leadership skills, how to plan and organize dynamic activities, and more with a week of morning in-class training.  Apply your new skills as you shadow ILSC activities leaders on dynamic activities. We will place you with a family experienced in hosting students your age. Practise your English skills at home while you connect with your Canadian family. Strong foundations lead to success ILSC’s International Academy provides young learners aged 13–15 years old with the English skills they need to be successful in Canadian public or private secondary schools. The course content is aligned with public school curriculum to help make your transition easier. Program highlights  Build confidence using English in academic and social situations  Academic reading, grammar, vocabulary, paragraph and essay writing are taught in dynamic and interesting ways  Practice speaking and listening through discussion topics that are important to you  Class size limit of 15 students means teachers can focus on your individual needs while supporting all students in their progress  Homework assignments and weekly quizzes and assessments will show your progress  Formal written assessments (Student Progress Reports) will be provided at the end of the program

When you’re ready, start your High School Program in the Maple Ridge School District, and combine your studies with ILSC’s After-school ESL program (offered in Maple Ridge) for continued English language support.
