Robust and Real Time Detection of Curvy Lanes (Curves) Having Desired Slopes ...csandit
One of the biggest reasons for road accidents is curvy lanes and blind turns. Even one of the
biggest hurdles for new autonomous vehicles is to detect curvy lanes, multiple lanes and lanes
with a lot of discontinuity and noise. This paper presents very efficient and advanced algorithm
for detecting curves having desired slopes (especially for detecting curvy lanes in real time)
and detection of curves (lanes) with a lot of noise, discontinuity and disturbances. Overall aim
is to develop robust method for this task which is applicable even in adverse conditions. Even in
some of most famous and useful libraries like OpenCV and Matlab, there is no function
available for detecting curves having desired slopes, shapes, discontinuities. Only few
predefined shapes like circle, ellipse, etc, can be detected using presently available functions.
Proposed algorithm can not only detect curves with discontinuity, noise, desired slope but also
it can perform shadow and illumination correction and detect/ differentiate between different
curves.
CHECKING BEHAVIOURAL COMPATIBILITY IN SERVICE COMPOSITION WITH GRAPH TRANSFOR...csandit
The success of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) largely depended on the success of
automatic service composition. Dynamic service selection process should ensure full
compatibility between the services involved in the composition. This compatibility must be both
on static proprieties, called interface compatibility which can be easily proved and especially
on behavioural compatibility that needs composability checking of basic services. In this paper,
we propose (1) a formalism for modelling composite services using an extension of the Business
Process (BP) modelling approach proposed by Benatallah et al. and (2) a formal verification
approach of service composition. This approach uses the Graph Transformation (GT)
methodology as a formal verification tool. It allows behavioural compatibility verification of
two given services modelled by their BPs, used as the source graph in the GT operation. The
idea consists of (1) trying to dynamically generate a graph grammar R (a set of transformation
rules) whose application generates the composite service, if it exists, in this case (2) the next
step consist in checking the deadlock free in the resulting composite service. To this end we
propose an algorithm that we have implemented using the AGG, an algebraic graph
transformation API environment under eclipse IDE.
Rotation Invariant Matching of Partial ShoeprintsIJERA Editor
In this paper, we propose a solution for the problem of rotated partial shoeprints retrieval based on the combined use of local points of interest and SIFT descriptor. Once the generated features are encoded using SIFT descriptor, matching is carried out using RANSAC to estimate a transformation model and establish the number of its inliers which is then multiplied by the sum of point-to-point Euclidean distances below a hard threshold. We demonstrate that such combination can overcome the issue of retrieval of partial prints in the presence of rotation and noise distortions. Conducted experiments have shown that the proposed solution achieves very good matching results and outperforms similar work in the literature both in terms of performances and complexity.
A Weighted Duality based Formulation of MIMO SystemsIJERA Editor
This work is based on the modeling and analysis of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system in downlink communication system. We take into account a recent work on the ratio of quadratic forms to formulate the weight matrices of quadratic norm in a duality structure. This enables us to achieve exact solutions for MIMO system operating under Rayleigh fading channels. We outline couple of scenarios dependent on the structure of eigenvalues to investigate the system behavior. The results obtained are validated by means of Monte Carlo simulations.

A novel scheme for reliable multipath routing through node independent direct...eSAT Journals
Abstract Multipath routing is essential in the wake of voice over IP, multimedia streaming for efficient data transmission. The growing usage of such network requirements also demands fast recovery from network failures. Multipath routing is one of the promising routing schemes to accommodate the diverse requirements of the network with provision such as load balancing and improved bandwidth. Cho et al. introduced a resilient multipath routing scheme known as directed acyclic graphs. These graphs enable multipath routing with all possible edges while ensuring guaranteed recovery from single point of failures. We also built a prototype application that demonstrates the efficiency of the scheme. The simulation results revealed that the scheme is useful and can be used in real world network applications.

Performance Comparison of Density Distribution and Sector mean of sal and cal...CSCJournals
In this paper we have proposed two different approaches for feature vector generation with absolute difference as similarity measuring parameter. Sal-cal vectors density distribution and Individual sector mean of complex Walsh transform. The cross over point performance of overall average of precision and recall for both approaches on all applicable sectors sizes are compared. The complex Walsh transform is conceived by multiplying sal components by j= ã-1. The density distribution of real (cal) and imaginary (sal) values and individual mean of Walsh sectors in all three color planes are considered to design the feature vector. The algorithm proposed here is worked over database of 270 images spread over 11 different classes. Overall Average precision and recall is calculated for the performance evaluation and comparison of 4, 8, 12 & 16 Walsh sectors. The overall average of cross over points of precision and recall is of all methods for both approaches are compared. The use of Absolute difference as similarity measure always gives lesser computational complexity and Individual sector mean approach of feature vector has the best retrieval.
Design and Implementation of Mobile Map Application for Finding Shortest Dire...Eswar Publications
The shortest path problem is an approach towards finding the shortest and quickest path or route from a starting point to a final destination, four major algorithms are peculiar to solving the shortest path problem. The algorithms include Dijkstra’s Algorithm, Floyd-Warshall Algorithm, Bellman-Ford Algorithm and Alternative Path Algorithm. This research work is focused on the design of mobile map application for finding the shortest
route from one location to another within Yaba College of Technology and its environ. The design was focused on
Dijkstra’s algorithm that source node as a first permanent node, and assign it 0 cost and check all neighbor nodes
from the previous permanent node and calculate the cumulative cost of each neighbor nodes and make them
temporary, then chooses the node with the smallest cumulative cost, and make it as a permanent node. The different nodes that lead to a particular destination were identified, the distance and time from a source to a destination is calculated using the Google map. The application then recommends the shortest and quickest route to the destination.

COMPARISON OF VOLUME AND DISTANCE CONSTRAINT ON HYPERSPECTRAL UNMIXINGcsandit
Algorithms based on minimum volume constraint or sum of squared distances constraint is
widely used in Hyperspectral image unmixing. However, there are few works about performing
comparison between these two algorithms. In this paper, comparison analysis between two
algorithms is presented to evaluate the performance of two constraints under different situations. Comparison is implemented from the following three aspects: flatness of simplex, initialization effects and robustness to noise. The analysis can provide a guideline on which constraint should be adopted under certain specific tasks.
In this paper, we analyze and compare the performance of fusion methods based on four different
transforms: i) wavelet transform, ii) curvelet transform, iii) contourlet transform and iv) nonsubsampled
contourlet transform. Fusion framework and scheme are explained in detail, and two different sets of
images are used in our experiments. Furthermore, eight different performancemetrics are adopted to
comparatively analyze the fusion results. The comparison results show that the nonsubsampled contourlet
transform method performs better than the other three methods, both spatially and spectrally. We also
observed from additional experiments that the decomposition level of 3 offered the best fusion performance,
anddecomposition levels beyond level-3 did not significantly improve the fusion results.

Automated Medical image segmentation for detection of abnormal masses using W...IDES Editor
Research in the segmentation of medical images
will strive towards improving the accuracy, precision, and
computational speed of segmentation methods, as well as
reducing the amount of manual interaction. Accuracy and
precision can be improved by incorporating prior information
from atlases and by combining discrete and continuous-based
segmentation methods. The medical images consists a general
framework to segment curvilinear 2D objects The proposed
method based on Watershed algorithm is traditionally applied
on image domain. Then model uses a Markov chain in scale
to model the class labels that form the segmentation, but
augments this Markov chain structure by incorporating tree
based classifiers to model the transition probabilities between
adjacent scales. Experiments with real medical images show
that the proposed segmentation framework is efficient.
A Comparative Study of Wavelet and Curvelet Transform for Image DenoisingIOSR Journals
Abstract : This paper describes a comparison of the discriminating power of the various multiresolution based thresholding techniques i.e., Wavelet, curve let for image denoising.Curvelet transform offer exact reconstruction, stability against perturbation, ease of implementation and low computational complexity. We propose to employ curve let for facial feature extraction and perform a thorough comparison against wavelet transform; especially, the orientation of curve let is analysed. Experiments show that for expression changes, the small scale coefficients of curve let transform are robust, though the large scale coefficients of both transform are likely influenced. The reason behind the advantages of curvelet lies in its abilities of sparse representation that are critical for compression, estimation of images which are denoised and its inverse problems, thus the experiments and theoretical analysis coincide . ANALYSIS OF INTEREST POINTS OF CURVELET COEFFICIENTS CONTRIBUTIONS OF MICROS...sipij
This paper focuses on improved edge model based on Curvelet coefficients analysis. Curvelet transform is
a powerful tool for multiresolution representation of object with anisotropic edge. Curvelet coefficients
contributions have been analyzed using Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT), commonly used to study
local structure in images. The permutation of Curvelet coefficients from original image and edges image
obtained from gradient operator is used to improve original edges. Experimental results show that this
method brings out details on edges when the decomposition scale increases.
Modelling Optical Waveguide Bends by the Method of LinesTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
A rigorous analytical and semi analytical method of lines has been used to calculate the
transverse-electric field attenuation coefficient of guided mode as it travels in waveguide bends structure.
Both approaches then were compared to get a better understanding on how the attenuation behaves along
single curve waveguides with constant radius of curvature. The Helmholtz Equation in polar coordinate
was transformed into a curvalinier coordinate to simulate the waveguide bends using the method of line
analysis. The simple absorption boundary conditions are used into the method of lines to demonstrate
evanescent field of the guided mode nature as its travels in waveguide bends structures. The results show
that a reasonable agreement between both theoretical approaches.
A Method to Determine End-Points ofStraight Lines Detected Using the Hough Tr...IJERA Editor
The Hough transform is often used to detect lines in images, yielding the equations of lines found. It works by
transforming a line in a given image to a point in a new transform image while accumulating a measure of the
likelihood that a point in the new image corresponds to a line from the original image. The resulting equation of
a line describes a line of unspecified length, with no information about the end-points of the actual lines in the
image which informed the detection of the line of unspecified length. This paperpresents a method to determine
the end-points of the actual lines in the image. The method tracks points from the original image whose
transforms led to evidence of lines in the transform image. Consecutive points are then grouped into sub-lines
according to whether or not there are enough of them in the group so that they constitute a significant sub-line,
and all points in the group are far enough from any other points along the same line, that those other points
should not be considered part of the same sub-line.Sample results are shown.
Local Phase Oriented Structure Tensor To Segment Texture Images With Intensit...CSCJournals
This paper proposed the active contour based texture image segmentation scheme using the linear structure tensor and tensor oriented steerable Quadrature filter. Linear Structure tensor (LST) is a popular method for the unsupervised texture image segmentation where LST contains only horizontal and vertical orientation information but lake in other orientation information and also in the image intensity information on which active contour is dependent. Therefore in this paper, LST is modified by adding intensity information from tensor oriented structure tensor to enhance the orientation information. In the proposed model, these phases oriented features are utilized as an external force in the region based active contour model (ACM) to segment the texture images having intensity inhomogeneity and noisy images. To validate the results of the proposed model, quantitative analysis is also shown in terms of accuracy using a Berkeley image database.
Nonlinear inversion of absorptive/dispersive wave field measurements: prelimi...Arthur Weglein
We consider elements of the nonlinear inversion of primaries with a particular em-
phasis on the viscoacoustic, or absorptive/dispersive case. Since the main ingredient
to higher-order terms in the inverse scattering series (as it is currently cast) is the
linear, or Born, inverse, we begin by considering its “natural” form, i.e. without the
corrections and/or assumptions discussed in Innanen and Weglein (2004). The absorp-
tive/dispersive linear inverse for a single interface is found to be a filtered step-function,
and for a single layer a set of increasingly smoothed step-functions. The “filters” char-
acterizing the model shape are analyzed.
We next consider the nature of the inversion subseries, which would accept the
linear inverse output and via a series of nonlinear operations transform it into a signal
with the correct amplitudes (i.e. the true Q profile). The nature of the data event
communication espoused by these nonlinear operations is discussed using a simple 1D
normal incidence physical milieu, and then we focus on the viscous (attenuating) case.
We show that the inversion subseries correctly produces the Q profile if the input signal
has had the attenuation (or viscous propagation effects) compensated. This supports
the existing ansatz (Innanen and Weglein, 2003) regarding the nature of a generalized
imaging subseries (i.e. not the inversion subseries) for the viscous case, as carrying out
the task of Q compensation.

REGION CLASSIFICATION BASED IMAGE DENOISING USING SHEARLET AND WAVELET TRANSF...csandit
This paper proposes a neural network based region classification technique that classifies
regions in an image into two classes: textures and homogenous regions. The classification is
based on training a neural network with statistical parameters belonging to the regions of
interest. An application of this classification method is applied in image denoising by applying
different transforms to the two different classes. Texture is denoised by shearlets while
homogenous regions are denoised by wavelets. The denoised results show better performance
than either of the transforms applied independently. The proposed algorithm successfully
reduces the mean square error of the denoised result and provides perceptually good results.

A New Transistor Sizing Approach for Digital Integrated Circuits Using Firefl...VLSICS Design
Due to the fact that, the power consumption and speed of a VLSI circuit are dependent on the transistor
sizes, efficient transistor sizing is a new challenge for VLSI circuit designers. However, evolutionary
computation can be successfully used for complex VLSI transistor sizing which reduces the time to market
and enables the designer to find the optimized solutions for a non-linear and complex circuit design
process. In this paper, a new digital integrated circuit design approach is proposed based on the firefly
artificial intelligence optimization algorithm. In order to justify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm
in the design of VLSI circuits, an inverter (NOT gate) is designed and optimized by the proposed algorithm.
As the simulation results show, the inverter circuit has a very good performance for power and delay
parameters.
Geometric wavelet transform for optical flow estimation algorithmijcga
This paper described an algorithm for computing the optical flow (OF) vector of a moving objet in a video sequence based on geometric wavelet transform (GWT). This method tries to calculate the motion between two successive frames by using a GWT. It consists to project the OF vectors on a basis of geometric wavelet. Using GWT for OF estimation has been attracting much attention. This approach takes advantage of the geometric wavelet filter property and requires only two frames. This algorithm is fast and able to estimate the OF with a low-complexity. The technique is suitable for video compression, and can be used for stereo vision and image registration.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.
