Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting It is hard to say where the environment is by listening to it for the first time, but
when you listen to it for a second time; you can make out footsteps in the
wilderness and the sounds of trees. The trailer also describes that the presence of
dragons will be a main focus. Dragons spend all their time outdoors in the
mountains and valleys; this is another indication that the game is an open world
RPG.
The voice over that describes the story of the
game is very clear and was recorded with
expensive recording devices, probably top of the
range directional microphones. They may have
also explored the wilderness and recorded some
ambient noises to edit into the sequence.
Mood The mood of the trailer sounds exciting, there are sounds of combat with dragons
and running in the wilderness; as this game sounds more like an rpg than anything
else, the background music compliments the genre with the exciting sound track
being played.
An orchestra may have been hired to perform and
record to feature in the main soundtrack for this
trailer; there are clear sounds of many people
singing along with the cover track for the
sequence. Sound editing software would also
have been used to blend the two audio pieces
together.
Game genre The game sounds like it is an action, adventure, open world/rpg. Due to the audio
played in the trailer.
The techniques explained above for the mood
and setting is why I believe that these are the
correct genres for the game itself. All of the
techniques point towards this type of game.
Narrative The voice over for this game describes what the player will be trying to achieve, or
who he will be playing as once in the game and the main threats for the player to
overcome.
The voice over would have of been recorded in a
sound proof room with acoustic improvements to
reduce any echoes that may be captured during
the recording process.
