J. Cole s Speech Analysis
As a little girl, I would stand in front of my mother s mirror, grab the television remote and
pretend to deliver a speech before my stuffed animals. There was no question whenever I was
asked, What do you want to be when you grow up? that I d quickly respond with, the president of
the United States. Although that childhood dream quickly diferred, as a college freshman at the
age of 19, I would experience an event that may someday be written down in history books
because it was not an average event of entertainment in seeing J. Cole perform live at a coliseum
or Dwayne Wade in a Miami Heat Jersey at the American Airlines Arena. This was an event that
have affected the lives of many and brought about more awareness of the oppression America...

church in Charleston, S.C. by a gunman during a prayer service. Of these nine was the senior
pastor and state senator Clementa C. Pinckney. As a student at the College of Charleston at that
time, I could recall hearing loud police sirens near my apartment and receiving a vast number of
phone calls from loved ones to assure that I was ok. I was unaware of what had just happened
0.3 miles up the road. Days later I was pleased to hear that President Obama would be in town to
deliver the eulogy for the city hero. The morning of the funeral, I woke up hours in advance to
stand in line. Even then, hundreds stood before me. Never in my life had I seen so many police
officers and people from across the world. As I entered the doors of the TD Arena, I felt love,
grace, and forgiveness. I heard honor from such a pleasant and honorable man. I heard praises
from the citizens of the Holy City and my favorite; the eulogy given that spake of race, a need for
gun control, and the controversy of the confederate flag. It was the most touching when Obama
lead everyone in attendance in the singing of Amazing Grace. The entire multi purpose arena
holding over 5,000 persons were completely filled. This event was not only unforgettable because
of the opportunity to see the President of the U.S. speak at such a heart breaking, yet honorable
event, but because I witnessed an act that was meant to start a

Unfair Pay Difference Of The United States
Paige Paladino Professor Hall November 21, 2016 Research Paper Unfair Pay Difference
Everyone has studied history throughout their educational years. They talked about the rights
men had and what the rights women didn t have. Now you would think that everyone is paid
equally, well that s not true. The U.S. Women s Soccer team has been fighting for equal pay to
their male counter parts since the beginning of the year 2016. They have made videos and had
many of interviews about their fight. The way to fix this problem is to continue to fight to have
equal pay to their male counterparts. The U.S. Women s soccer team represents the U.S in
international soccer competitions at the highest level. The team is one of the most successful in
international women s soccer teams by winning three World Cup titles, four Olympic gold
medals, seven CONCACAF (the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean
Association Football) Gold Cup wins, and ten Algarve Cups. Receiving a medal in every World
Cup competition and Olympic tournament from 1991 to 2015, before being knocked out in the
quarterfinals of the 2016 Olympics, after a penalty shoot out. They are currently ranked number 1,
moving back into the position on July 10, 2015, due to its winning of the 2015 World Cup. The
U.S. Men s soccer team represents the U.S. in international soccer. They have been in ten FIFA
World Cups. Their best result was when they made it to the semi final at the 1930 World Cup,

Terrorism, the very word bring a foul mood with it, wherever it goes, yet most don t even know the
meaning of the word. Most people insult the idea without very little thought, even when knowing
not a thing about it, or why its being caused. The Boston Tea party was an act of terrorism, and is
taught to be known as one in some schools in the U.S., and many will rise and say that the Boston
Tea Party was a justified, valiant, and patriotic act. Terrorism, in many cases, can be proven.
The ANO is a terrorist organization the resides in the Israel/Palestine state, whose goals are to
destroy the existing Israeli state that they ve been forced to share their land with. Founded in 1974
by Sabri al Banna whose nom de guerre, Abu Nidal, means father of the struggle. Abu Nidal was a
high ranking official in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and served as PLO
representative to several Arab states. Abu Nidal bitterly opposed the idea of a Palestinian state co

Thomas Paine Age Of Reason
The Age of Reason in America was a revolutionary time in this country and American political
activist Thomas Paine had big involvement in this. When the 1700s came to an end so did
puritanism in America., Bbrilliant thinkers and scientists from the 17th century such as Galileo,
Newton, Voltaire, Rousseau, John Locke and many more helped discover new ways of thinking
and believing in reason over faith. This discovery, an evolution in America, helped explain a lot
and correct many problems and conflicts of the past. Citizens of America were believing in
reasoning and scientific proof rather than just living by religiononly. Thomas Paineenlightened a
whole country with his theories and belief through his book ВЁThe Age of ReasonВЁ and also a
new way of believing which was called Deism. Deism is the belief that the universe is good, and
accepting the existence of a creator on the basis of reason but rejected belief in a supernatural deity
who interacts with humankind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Age of Reason represented a genesis in the way man viewed himself, the pursuit of
knowledge, and the universe. The principle of the Age of Reason was to think and live a
different way. Instead of living strict lives and only following God s word now each person has
more freedom and ability to explore and discover new things and to solve problems with real
scientific results. Another big factor in the Age of Reason was instead of Cchristianity
overruling all religious beliefs, Deism arises and was which most philosophers believed in and they
did believe that God created Earth but believed there was logic and a reason for everything being
the way it is. This belief discovered by Thomas Paine helped change a lot in giving America a new

effective way for increasing in photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide
nanoparticles were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can
greatly enhance the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various
cell lines and paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic
and other techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis
spectroscopy displayed the absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La
which is extremely favorable for absorbing the visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of
La ions and found that La doped ZnO nanoparticles is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in

Exothersmic And Endothermic Interaction
AlmaOlguin
Period:5
Science Fair Research
In our daily life, we constantly have interactions of chemical reactions, such as endothermic and
exothermic reactions. In general all chemical reactions are important to our society to achieve
certain activities. Some examples are smelting iron, making class, burning fuels, brewing beer,
making wine and cheese, and etc. Most importantly I will be researching what are exothermic and
endothermic reactions and how they can affect our daily life. Chemical reactions is a process when
the reactants convert to products. A reactant is a substance that goes in to a chemical reactionand
undergoes change is a reactant. The final substance of the chemical reaction is the product. A
chemical reaction rearranges the molecular structure of a substance. Substances are either chemical
elements or compounds(Treichel and Kotz). Chemical reactions either result of chemical bonds
forming or breaking. Chemical reactions are distinguished by the following four ways(Shukla). The
first way a chemical reaction is distinguished is the physical state of the reactants and the products
to see if all the substances are in the same physical state or in a different physical state. The two
types of chemical reactions to distinguish the physical state are homogeneous reaction or
heterogeneous reaction. The second way to identify a chemical reaction is the type /nature of the
chemical. Some examples are synthesis reactions,Decomposition reactions,

Erikson s Eight Stages Of Psychosocial Development
When I look back to my transition to college and how my family has supported me throughout
my life, I realized that many developmental theories could apply. In Erikson s Eight Stages of
Psychosocial Development, he uses different ranges of age to portray one s crises and dilemmas
in various stages of life (Bjorklund, 2015). As an 18 year old college student, I feel connected to
the fifth stage of Erikson s Stages of Psychosocial Development: Identity versus Role Confusion.
In the fifth stage, Erikson describes that during the ages 13 18, most teens are transitioning to
young adults and this is the stage in human development where they are trying to find their
identity in their occupation, gender/sex role, religion, and politics (Bjorklund, 2015). Either they
have found their identity or they have failed to find their identity which leads into a role
confusion. During my transition into college, I experienced an identity crisis for not knowing
what I wanted to study or pursue as a career. Before I came to college, I was considering a career
in Math and I thought I knew what I wanted to study. However, as I grew older and saw different
perspectives of my intended career as a college student, I changed my mind. Although I have begun
to answer some of these questions about gender roles, religion, and politics, I am still uncertain of
my occupational identity. Although Erikson s stages of human development might have fit with the
expectations in his generation, I think his

Rifle Vs Spotting Scope Research Paper
Rifle Scope Vs Spotting Scope
When it comes to hunting, accuracy counts. You need to know that when you pull the trigger,
you are going to hit your target. If you do not, you will lose the capture. The same can be said for
all other forms of target shooting and the further away your target is, the harder it will be to hit
your mark. That is why there are so many who wonder which best, a rifle scope or a spotting scope.
Perhaps it is here that you will find the answer.
High End Rifle Scopes Vs a Spotting Scope
There are many reasons that someone may choose to go with a higher end scope. Most high end
AR 15 hunting scopes can make even a not so accurate gun, perfect. They are easy to look through
and have the ability to help you hit your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is often a lot more stable to look through than a pair of binoculars or even a rifle scope because it
is designed to be used on a stationary tripod or some other stable surface.
Perhaps Use Both?
There are people who use both devices because they perform a different job. It is easier for many
to use the spotting scope rather than binoculars when they want to see over a long distance and it
also ensures that they are not possibly pointing their rifle at something they would not want to shoot.
There are also those people who feel that if you have a good rifle scope, you do not need to carry
more than absolutely necessary when you are out in the woods. They feel that their rifle scopes
are just as accurate as a spotting scope and that when they see a target, it is easier to use their rifle
and shoot at it rather than have to site it again. It all depends on how each individual feels about it.
How are They Most Useful?
A spotting scope is designed to be accurate while you are scanning the area for a potential target.
Then you can zero in on the target with your rifle scope and wait for a clear shot at it. They are
easier to use than binoculars and offer a very clear view of targets that are far

Essay on The Running Back Position in Football
Running Backs
To be the best you got to beat the best; therefore I am the best cause I ve beaten the rest (Barry
Sanders). The game of football only requires 22 men, but only one man can be the running back.
The running back position is considered the most prestigious of the game. To be a great running
back in the N.F.L. you must possess certain qualities such as: speed, strength, agility, field vision,
quick feet, and good stamina. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Marcus Allen all possess these
qualities and are three of the best running backs the National Football League will ever see.

With 2,566 yards, he holds the record for rushing yards in a season. Furthermore, he has been
elected to the Pro Bowl 13 times. Barry Sanders has more records than any running back. He is
also known for his charitable works done through the country. Barry Sanders is one of the greatest
people to grace the field with his presents and the game will always be grateful.
The name Walter Payton is one that needs no introduction. He was the NFL Player of the Year
and Most Valuable Player in both 1977 and 1985. His list of accomplishments include catching
492 pass receptions for 4,538 yards, 15 touchdowns, and passing 34 times for 331 yards and 8
touchdowns. As you can see, Walter Payton is one of the greatest players ever. Walter Payton is a
class act, and will always be remembered as a pioneer on the gridiron.
Marcus Allen is a man who commands attention every time he steps on the field. Marcus is the
only running back that is just as dangerous catching the ball out the backfield as he is running the
ball. Holding records that range from most catches in a season to most yards in a season; Marcus
Allen is the most divers running back the N.F.L. has ever saw. Marcus also has donated a lot of
money to different foundations.
To be considered one of the greatest running backs of all time you must posses the qualities not
just of a good runner, but also as a good person. All three of these men posses those qualities and
are the greatest running backs of all time. Moreover,

on this deal, what are the implications on India s energy mix?
This paper will address the civil nuclear liability issue and it will also shed light on the
implications for nuclear energy on India s current energy mix and its future as well. I will explain
the incentives for both nations to go forward with this deal and the role played by other foreign

The liability issue was introduced to the Indian Parliament by invoking the horror of the Union
Carbide Bhopal Gas tragedy incident where a gas leak from the Union Carbide operated pesticide
plant resulted in the death of thousands of civilians. The CLNDA 2010 has a simple purpose in
that, it makes sure the victims of a nuclear accident can receive quick compensation, without having
to prove that the plant operator is negligent irrespective of who is at fault.
In light of President Barack Obama s landmark visit to India this year, the two nations reached a
tentative agreement regarding the nuclear liability issue in terms of shared risk and U.S tracking of
nuclear material. The main idea was to transfer the financial risk to the insurers in case of an
accident.
The US India civil nuclear deal (123 Agreement) had been stalemated for several years on 2 counts
1) The Liability clause that the US companies (GE and Westinghouse) saw as affecting their
profitability the compromise worked out is the creation of some kind of an insurance pool. Under
this workaround, an Indian state run insurance company GIC Re will contribute $122 million to the
insurance pool with the balance being covered by the Indian Government.
2) The US insistence on tracking the movement of nuclear fuel from third country sources this has
now been addressed by the US letting go of this demand and both countries agreeing to

Michael Brown Thesis
The history of the human race can be summed up as self destructive. Centuries of countless war,
uprisings, and oppression has marked history as a repeating cycle of hate and violence. The
population today is divided amongst issues and the government is torn between what decide. The
people want change from their government about critical issues, but change is not always
guaranteed to be given. With change comes opposition and opposition only gives rise to violence.
The day is Aug. 9 and 18 yr. old Michael Brown has just been shot. Due to the tension dividing
the country Brown s death was immediately looked at as a racial issue. The country saw it as an
unarmed black teenager shot and killed by Darren Wilson, a white police officer. The shooting...

The people of Ferguson were outraged at the racial injustice which transpired in their city. Too
many young black men had had their lives taken too soon by the police. Michael Brown s death
was another added to the list surely not the last and the people knew this. Change was needed
and that burning need for it is what started the riots. The citizens of Ferguson were fed up with
how the people of the country were treated by law enforcement and decided to make a stand.
Ferguson would be thrown in the spotlight for what s wrong with America . The police and the
people of the country had a broken bond. Those entrusted to protect the people were no longer
trusted. The riots in Ferguson were not called for because they only led to the destruction of the
city and the arrest of protesters. They accomplished nothing and took away from the reason of the
riots, Michael Brown s unjust death. Protesters that stood peacefully and chanted Black Lives
Matter had a greater effect as they stood across the country (Healy).
Violence is not always the answer to the world s problems, but it is a great way bring attention to
the cause of the problem. Peaceful negotiations is the only way to ensure that the aggressors and
opposition both come to an agreement about the best outcome of their situation. Violence creates
hate and hate in turn leads to more violence in the long run thus continuing humanities cycle of self

Devices and technologies like Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs) camera, Closed Circuit Television
(CCTV), thermal camera, High Definition (HD) camera and night vision are widely used in video
surveillance to gather information and to observe people, events and activities [10]. At present
there is an increased desire and need in automated video surveillance application intended for
evaluating human behaviors.
Human detection in video is complicated due several factors such as variable appearance of people,
camera positions, and wide range of person poses, illumination variation, brightness, backgrounds,
contrast level and human occlusions [ ]. Different people perform the same action differently and
the same person performs the same action differently at different times. Due to huge diversity of
human body size, appearance, shape and human actions to perform automatically recognize actions
are very challenging [12]. Steps for processing a video are video segmentation, motion detection,
background modeling, foreground segmentation, object classification, motion tracking, activity
recognition, and camera handoff and data fusion [].
The main objective of this paper is to provide a review of human behavior analysis in video
surveillance. The review is not exhaustive, but gives an overview of the major steps involved in
human behavior analysis and some of the techniques which are used in these steps. The rest of this

Risk And Politics Of Disaster Coverage
Analysis of Risk and Politics of Disaster Coverage in Haiti and Katrina
Introduction and Purpose of the Study The article, Risk and Politics of Disaster Coverage in Haiti
and Katrina, by Jennifer Petersen of the University of Virginia, which appeared in the journal
Communication, Culture Critique in 2014, provides a comparison and contrast of the media
coverage of Hurricane Katrina (2005), which devastated the U.S. Gulf Coast and was the costliest
natural disaster in the nation s history, and the Jan. 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, which devastated
one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere. The purpose of the article is to discuss the
reasons why the news media framed Hurricane Katrina as an unmitigated and unimaginable
catastrophe that violated expected norms, while the 2010 Haiti earthquake was framed as an almost
routine and manageable crisis, despite the fact that the Haiti earthquake caused much more loss of
life and human suffering than Katrina. This purpose is discussed in both the short, nine line
abstract, and the introduction.
Literature Review and Research Questions Petersen cites more than 50 sources as references for
her study. Many of these sources are the news programs on NBC and CNN, which she compared
when reviewing the coverage of each disaster. However, the reference list also includes a fair
number of other scholarly journal articles and publications by reputable academic publishers. The
author provides the

The Pros And Cons Of Pterosaurs
Neither bats nor birds, pterosaurs were considered reptiles. And although scientists have long
debated where exactly pterosaurs fit on the reptile s family tree, it has been proven time and
again that they were close cousins to dinosaurs but just evolved on a different family line. The
top theory as of now among scientists is that pterosaurs, crocodiles, and dinosaurs are closely
related to each other as a group. In the kingdom of Animalia, these three belong to a group known
as archosaurs. The Prehistoric Flying Reptiles Pterosaurs flourished during the age of dinosaurs,
more than 150 million years ago. The earliest of their kinds are small flying reptiles. Yes, they do
fly, with long tails and sturdy bodies and surprisingly, some were also extraordinarily large.
However, roughly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Argument That Young Pterosaurs Weren t Flightless Other authors of the study add a good
point, opposing that their discovery doesn t necessarily prove that the young pterosaurs were born
flightless. Michael Habib, one of the authors and a paleontologist at the University of Southern
California, claimed that the wings are more robust compared to the hind limbs. Furthermore,
Habib said that the structure and the bone share are both integral to tell the strength of the
species. The other researchers suspect that some juvenile, eggs, and adult individuals were
washed away from the nesting site due to the storm in the lake, where later on they were
fossilized. Unwin further said that it is possible that a group of female pterosaurs may have laid
their eggs in the same area, which is the same thing to sea turtles that return to the same ocean or
beaches each year to lay

Comparing Satire In Saturday Night Live And The Late Show
Political Satire: Both Amusing and Informative
Political satire is the use of humor, sarcasm, or ridicule to criticize politician s vices. Most satire
today is political. Comedians have become our truth tellers. When it comes to politics, news and
satire go together like peanut butter and jelly. Shows including: NBC s Saturday Night Live and
CBS s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert showcase political satire the best of them all. The main
questions are: does satire relay new well and does satire make for a reliable news source?
Stephen Colbert is known to be the king of satire. His late night show is popular for his use of
satire to convey the news. He is so good at his satire that people on all sides of the political debate
find him funny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humor is a big part of my life, and I find what is life without a good laugh. I have watched both
Saturday Night Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I find them both very funny and I
did learn some things from watching them. I find normal news to be lacking enjoyment. They are
frankly boring.
Satire requires a lot of interpretation. No one quite has the same opinions on what is trying to
be conveyed by such satire. Some people think satire is rude and crosses the line. For others, it
is easier to comprehend more serious political topics when humor is involved. Satire can be
helpful to some in the transmission of information. I agree completely with this. Humor helps
grab the attention of viewers and make the experience more enjoyable. I find it easier to watch the
SNL skits mocking the debate over the real deal. Yes, they may be making fun of people, but I
unapologetically find that funny. In my opinion there is a reason these people are victims of satire.
Whether it is political or just plain old satire, comicality adds a lot to new segments. There is not
one person who doesn t enjoy a good laugh. Satire allows people to both receive the news and
laugh at the same time. It is like the best of both worlds. Comedians may have become our truth
tellers, but I m not complaining. I like the way satire and news mesh

the Death Eaters, there were few known female members. This was related to the line of
Voldemort s behavior. However, Bellatrix was a servant who followed around Voldemort all the

the Mesa soccer team was able to get a victory over Fort Lewis then they would move on to the
championship game and possibly win the RMAC tournament, that they have one previously last
year. This game took place at the Colorado School of Mines University, on a cold night. I arrive
and we pay to get in, we head over to the bleachers where all the parents, friends, and students are
sitting at. They begin the night with the national anthem, and then we all take a stand. Once that
is over with it s now game time. The Mesa soccer boys get into a circle and start there team ritual,
which is to sing a chant that they always sing. The chat is the Ole ole ole song, after that is over

This new telescope was expensive but an experience that only a telescope could bring to the

Coming Of Age In Hamlet Research Paper
Tragic stories have been around for thousands of years. The earliest forms were ancient Greek and
Roman myths and plays that told stories of magnificent heros and their quests of self fulfillment.
They became so prevalent in culture that a certain formula for writing them was developed. This
formula, called The Aristotelian Tragedy, would be used for thousands of years after the Greeks
came up with it. One of the most obvious uses of this formula is a play titled Hamlet by English
playwright William Shakespeare. His use of ideas like blood vengeance, coming of age, and the
downfall of a hero are directly connected to the ways of the ancient Greeks.
A very common idea within the realm of classical literature is blood vengeance. Blood vengeance ...

They add to another very important aspect of a tragedy. The coming of age of the protagonist is
a very key element according to the Aristotelian Tragedy. The whole point of the protagonist
going through all of the things they do in the story is to set up the moment where they finally
reach their coming of age. We can see that characters in a tragedy make very difficult decisions
and take them seriously. (Hajdu 2). Often within a tragedy, the hero starts out as a young and
inexperienced person with no experience killing, or making hard decisions. Through the tasks
that they are given, their morality is tested to the utmost extreme, and as a result, they come out
in the end as a wise, and honorable hero to themselves. In Hamlet, when he finds out that his
Uncle Claudius was the one who killed his father, he had to make a very quick decision about
what he should do. His morals and wisdom guide him to the right path, and he ends up killing his
Uncle. Orestes, faced with the task of killing his own mother, is torn apart. He struggles to find
the morality in killing the woman that had birthed him and raised him. Although this left him with
a very difficult decision, he ended up making a choice based on his morals and his task as the
hero, and slays his mother. Both did what their morals called for, and both would pay a

Jefferson Is Unenthusiastic 1787
Confederation and Constitution
After the American Revolution, a new government had to be established. The Constitution that was
written took power away from the people. It led to rebellions from poor people and farmers.
Daniel Shays, a former Revolutionary Army captain, led a rebellion with farmers, against laws
which were not fair to the poor. They protested against excessive taxes on property, polling taxes
which obtained the poor from voting, unfair actions by the court of common requests, the high cost
of lawsuits, and the lack of a stable currency. They wanted the government to issue paper money,
since it is cheaper then gold and silver coins.

(Jefferson is Unenthusiastic 1787) Here he is saying that America just has to have a rebellion and
can t live in peace. He is right that all the people cannot be always well informed, but attempting to
keep them well informed is the key to success, which I believe the government did not, and still
does not do.
In a letter to James Madison, Jefferson said ...what I do not like. First the omission of a bill of
rights providing clearly and without the aid of sophism for freedom of religion, freedom of the
press, protection against standing armies, restriction against monopolies, the eternal and
unremitting force of the habeas corpus laws, and trials by jury in all metters of fact triable by the

The die is now cast. The colonies must either submit or triumph. ~King George III The Tea Act,

caused it to smell. Because of the Boston Tea Party, the British shut down Boston Harbor until all
of the three hundred forty chests of British East India Company tea were paid for. This was
implemented under the seventeen seventy four, the Intolerable Acts and known as the Boston Port

responded with protests and coordinated resistance by convening the First Continental Congress in
September and October of 1774 to petition Britain to repeal the Intolerable Acts. The Boston Tea

Case Study of Designing a Self-Service Disaster Recovery Plan
TITLE: Case Study of Designing a Self Service Disaster Recovery Plan
1.0Issues regarding disaster recovery plan (DRP)
Disaster recovery plan (DRP) is a clearly defined and documented plan of action for use at the time
of a crisis. Typically a plan will cover all the key personnel, resources, services and actions required
to implement and manage the DR process (comission, 2014).
A large US public power provider, with millions of residential and business customers, needed to
rethink its disaster recovery program. Due to budget constraints, the utility s data recovery
program had not been updated or tested for several years. Under the existing program, systems

modernization of DRP technologies thus upgrade the system performance from taking 20 days to
recovery to shorter days to meet the board directors demand.

4.1The status of the company DRP
The conventional DRP of the company has not been updated or tested for several years. Under the
existing program, system recovery could take up to 20 days which is unacceptable timeframe for a
utility relied upon by numerous states for critical infrastructure services.
We found that a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) had never been performed to prioritize disaster
recovery based on the cost of loss. We also found a significant lack of integration of disaster
recovery governance into the overall organizational structure.
We worked with the utility to perform a BIA to identify critical business processes, the likelihood of
service disruption, and the projected cost of loss. We then helped the utility understand the business
risks of systems and technology services interruption.
The team prioritized investments for disaster recovery initiatives, and in conjunction with business
unit leaders, designed a tiered model highlighting recovery priorities. These priorities were
validated with IT infrastructure leaders to help ensure alignment. As failover

Summary Of The Four Spiritual Laws
Summary of Method I chose to research The Four Spiritual Laws the Intellectual method, this
method is a way to help bring the Good News to the un believers. Paul used this method when he
spoke to the people in Athens, when he spoke he was telling them how to have a relationship with
Jesus Christ. We can and should use the Intellectual method it can help you start a conversation.
One way you can start a conversation with a non believer is by asking have they heard about The
Four Spiritual Laws. The Four Spiritual Laws is a book written in 1952 by William Bill Bright an
American evangelist, he also founded Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 as ministry for the
university students.
The first law is God s Love God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. John 3:16 God
so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not
perish, but have eternal life. God s Plan Jesus said: The thief does not come except to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly . John 10:10 (NKJV) (www.cru.org 1994 2015) After those two verses the question is
asked, Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life? Because of our sinful
ways. Which brings us to the second law.
The second law is Man is sinful and separated from God. Thus he cannot know and experience God
s love and plan for his life. Romans 3:23. All of us sin and our sin has

The Causes For The Emergence Of Speech
The Causes for the Emergence of Speech in Humans
By
Fazrurnaguib Paharuddin
Since the beginning of time, humans utilized the mechanism of speech to interact with each other
and to gain specific needs and benefits. The emergence of Homo sapiens finally revolutionized the
way humans achieve what they wants. Humans are assumed as a magnificent creature and
consequently each cultures has its own tale on how we became exist and prominent on the Earth
(Long, 1963). Speech and language are among the pivotal keys to the purposes of social
communication. In this paper, I will discuss about the foundation of speech in humans.
The study of this topic is hard and controversial because there is no direct evidence linking the
reasons and the theories. For this reasons, scholars from many different areas have come up with
varieties of ideas and speculation to resolve the causes and the chain events of reactions that lead
to the emergence of speech in humans. Humans extraordinary ability to make use of the mouth for
speech caused scholars to deduce that this evolution is a compelling progression (Fitch, 2000). To
get the matter at hand precise and concise, I will select a few theories that I found fascinating and
analyze them. The advantages and disadvantage of these theories will be looked at to determine
which of them best answers the real justification of the development of speech in humans.
First, we have a theory proposed by Max MГјller in his lectures in 1861. He claimed two

Reinforcement Schedules Work
Explain how reinforcement schedules work using everyday examples. Reinforcement means to
strengthen, and is used in psychology to refer to anything stimulus which strengthens or
increases the probability of a specific response. For example, if you want your child to do
something more and more, you may give her a treat every time she does that. Thus the child will
eventually know that if I do this, it will be followed by a treat and the more you praise her the
more she repeats that. This might be cleaning the table after every meal that she takes and you
give her praise or a tin of yoghurt for cleaning the table. Another example of reinforcement could
be something happening at work when you know that a promotion comes after a hard work. This is
done in different forms of reinforcements which are positive and negative reinforcement,
punishment and extinction. There are also different reinforcement schedules which are fixed and
variable ratios and fixed and variable intervals. All these are used in our day to day living when
people are being rewarded or punished for different responses. This was done by BF Skinner
through his experiments which gave him a result that any behaviour is followed by a consequence.
(http://www.allpsych.com/tests/psychology/learning.html) Reinforcement schedules rely on the
principles of operant conditioning which is a type of associative learning in which a person s
behaviour changes according to consequences associated with that behaviour.

Futuristic Rights In Blade Runner
Futuristic Rights Manmade beings were created as slaves for humanity. These beings are called
replicants. Blade Runner, a science fiction film set in the future, brings up a question about the
replicants humanity and their rights. As the replicants are able to think as a human would and seem
to feel emotions like a human, their rights are hard to acknowledge. Created to fulfill the will of
mankind, they only know a life without choices and opinions. This causes them to have certain
desires that seem very humanistic in nature. All though they possess humanoid characteristics,
replicants have a shorter life span than humans. This drives the plot of the film as some replicants
hunt down their creators to try and make themselves more human while others do not even realize
they are replicants. Pris and Roy are a couple that works together seeking their creators so that
they do not have to die in the measly sum of four bleak years. Rachael is a female replicant who
does not know that she is a replicant until Decker, a man in charge of hunting down and killing the
replicants, tells her that she is not human. Replicants should be allowed minimal human rights due
to their ability to think, feel, and reason as a human would.
With emotions acute to humanity, replicants grieve and feel compassion. Throughout the movie,
the replicants clearly show their feelings. The strongest among the emotions portrayed by the
replicants are fear, grief, and compassion. Fear is shown while they

The Cafe Of The Store
The cafГ© in the center of the store is actually a little Starbucks coffee shop, but due to the food
that they service it is more of a cafГ© than anything else. The food is not really a wide selection,
but it is enough that anyone is, required to play host, and in which all feel at home and
comfortable. (Oldenburg, page 22) With the decent food and Starbucks, anyone that has an order
does not need to remain at the tables to finish it. You can still be able to browse the shelves and
read anything that you desire. Which is why many families come to the store with their children in
tow.
Most people can arrive at this location with no worries and may come and go whenever they
please, with no worries about arriving too late. For the bookstore has very long hours of
operation, but the store is not accessible in its off hours as Oldenburg states on page 32. Yet B N

On the morning of May 18, 1980, the United States of America experienced its deadliest and
most destructive volcanic eruption in history. Briefly succeeding a magnitude 5.1 earthquake, an
enormous slab of Mount St. Helens northern flank collapsed in a massive debris avalanche. This

Helens will occur. The main issue is that it is impossible to prevent it, or stop it once an eruption
has begun. However, procedures can be established to reduce the lives lost or damage to property
should a future event occur. Technology for monitoring volcanoes has advanced dramatically over
the last 36 years. The seismometers used in 1980 are prehistoric compared to todays equipment.
Nowadays, seismometers can hear low frequency indications of fluid moving deep below the Earth

can monitor and detect gases rising from volcanos summits. Remote monitoring equipment is used
24 hours a day and 365 days a year by the USGS (USGS, 2014). With that regard, the success of a
monitoring system depends primarily on how fast detection occurs and the time needed to notify
public if evacuation s required. Although, monitoring might detect possible eruption but the
magnitude of an eruption is still difficult to determine (Crandell and Mullineaux,

From the very beginning, scholars and critics with an interest in William Blake have sought to
uncover the nature and source of his religious influences. However, earlier efforts to locate a

we are left with a picture of a thinker who has patched together a number of different traditions and

Sexism And Social Psychology
Sexism in Relation to Social Psychology
People, on many occasions, have preconceived opinions that are not based on any reason or
actual experience, this is known as prejudice. Whereas sexism is a discrimination or prejudice
based on an individual s sex; a preconceived belief that one sex is superior and more valuable than
another sex. In Personality and Social Psychology Factors Explaining Sexism the authors state, The
personality approach holds factors within the individual as the major causes of prejudice, the
social psychology approach links prejudice to factors like people s social group membership and
social identity, and situational factors (Akrami, N., et al. 2011).
Within the first study written by Akrami, the participants were non psychology university students,
194 women and 185 men; with the mean age being twenty four and a half years. Responding to the

participants completed the questionnaire on their own and anonymously. Ultimately, the results
revealed notable positive connections of sexism with SDO and RWA (Akrami, N., et al. 2011).

sexist beliefs. The first study consisted of a group

Singularly Perturbed Problem Essay
section{Parameter Uniform} In the context of singularly perturbed problems posed on non
rectangular domains, the finite element method is a natural choice for many researchers (e.g.
cite{118}). However, in the context of singularly perturbed convection diffusion problems, it is
difficult to construct monotone methods on highly anisotropic meshes, which are desirable when
thin layers are present. Moreover, energy norms or other norms based on the $L^2 $norm, are the
natural norms associated with variational methods. Error analysis in the pointwise norm is not

The presence of a convective term means that the data of the problem across the entire domain has
an influence on the outflow boundary layer, in contrast to reaction diffusion problems where it is
only the data local to a boundary that has an influence on the boundary layer. Hegarty and O
Riordan cite{115} constructed a parameter uniform numerical methods for the singularly perturbed
problem posed on a circular domain. Asymptotic expansions for the solutions to such a problem
have been established in cite{120,121,122,123}. Analytical expressions for the exact solution, in
the case of constant data, are given in cite{123} as a Fourier series with coefficients written in
terms of modified Bessel functions. In cite{120,121,122} sufficient compatibility conditions are
identified so that the accuracy of the asymptotic expansion can be estimated in the $L^2 $norm or
in a suitably weighted energy norm. These expansions are derived without recourse to a maximum
principle. The smooth case, where significant compatibility is assumed, is examined in cite{120};
the non compatible case with a polynomial source term is studied in cite{125} and for a more
general source term in cite{122}. Based on these asymptotic expansions, a numerical method is
constructed in cite{124} for the problem, which uses a quasi uniform mesh (which is, hence, not
layer adapted). By enriching the finite element subspace, with certain exponential boundary layer

Components Of Building A Gaming Pc
My topic of interest this week is learning about a few components involved in building a gaming
PC. I believe this is a great topic for me as my intended professional goal is to become a video
game developer. Where would a professional game developer, like myself, be without a proper
gaming PC. Plus, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion. I have
owned many gaming consoles, PC s, and Mac s over the years. If you are a true gamer, you will
already know which platform is the best for you. Gaming consoles like the PS4 or XBOX ONE,
while a great source for gaming entertainment are, cheaper because they do not have a graphics

They also have the lowest number of developed games between all the platforms. So now I m
thinking why can t I have both a iMac and gaming PC? Well, after doing some research, I think
having both might actually be a strong possibility for me. Now getting into the main portion of
my topic why PC is the best for gaming. First off, PC s use only a GPU, allowing this item to be
upgraded while advancements in technology take place. This, in turn, allows a PC to have full
access to incredible graphics, giving the gamer a higher level gaming experience. There are
three primary components that are the foundations to building a great PC, they are the central
processing unit (CPU), also called a processor, the video card and memory (RAM).
(Bellerophon08, 2013) You will find many different brands and styles, such as an AMD FX
8350 AM3+ 4.0Ghz (CPU) or a Kingston HyperX blu 1600mhz 2x4GB (RAM). They all depend
on what suits your individual needs and budget. One of the most exiting components I get to talk
about, is the motherboard. Just like its title this is what brings all the components together in
harmony. One interesting fact I didn t know, but was crucial to the proper function of a PC, is a
motherboard socket type. Seeing as they are not interchangeable, you need to make sure you know
what CPU you are investing in, as you are unable to mix and match a motherboard and CPU brand.

jewelry, putting on a face of makeup, and going to the nail salon. Femininity is probably long,
flowing hair and a slender body. This is not the truth, however. These images have been fed to us

Whis is it considered humorous when men dress up as women or women dress up as men? Why
is it considered wrong for a person of a certain gender to wear the clothing of another? Why is it
that these people these other human beings are taunted for being themselves? The answer to
that is simple. These innocent actions are perceived as disgusting and wrong in the eyes of
society. The arrogance of society has prevented us from pursuing something that would
guarantee happiness. They would rather ridicule us than allow us to disturb their perfect little
world. Thousands of us hide away in the shadows of anxiety instead of revealing our true self
because we know how society would react. They would reject us and isolate us until we revert

power of the president and a complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and
their willingness to use extralegal means to achieve their desired goals. This era remains one of the
saddest affairs in American history, and provides insight into how the executive branch was able to
attain new power during the era of Jackson.
In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole War, one must
first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole protection of runaway slaves,
Andrew Jackson and more than three thousand men entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to
decimate Seminole populations. Despite most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the
United States government and protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a
war hero throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the
government to punish Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both Britain and
Spain. The Adam Onis Treaty of 1819

Greek And Classical Greek Philosophy
Classical Greek Philosophy A philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge,
reality, and existence, esp. when considered as an academic discipline. Greece was divided into
several city states, which ran separately and independent from each other. However, they shared
commonalities, such as common ancestry, language, and festivals. Foreigners were all considered
barbarians to the Greek. Greek Culture is reflected in today s Society in many ways. These ways
include mathematics, government, medicine, art, and architecture. Without Greek Culture, we
would not have the idea of mathematical proof or geometry, which are still used today. Without
Greek Culture, we also wouldn t have technologies and other refined technologies that first came
from Greece. Greek artists of the fifth and fourth centuries B.C. attained a manner of representation
that conveys a vitality of life as well as a sense of permanence, clarity, and harmony. Significant
achievements were made in Attic vase painting. Most notably, the red figure technique surpassed
the black figure technique, and with that, great strides were made in portraying the human body.
Also, Greeks believed music became a form of expression subject to rules, styles, and rational
analysis. To them, music fulfilled an ethical function in the training of young individuals. However,
there were three famous Greek philosophies that are: Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The beginnings
of philosophers are that

According to the study, by the Treatment Advocacy Center, psychiatric beds are now available at a
level equivalent to that of 1850 (Torrey et al., 2012), the point in history at which the treatment of
the mentally ill started to change with a shift to state run facilities.
One of the major consequences of this crisis is seen in jails and prisons around the nation that are
increasingly populated by individuals with untreated mental illness, with some facilities reporting
that one third or more of their inmates are severely mentally ill. (Torrey et al., 2012. p. 6). One
measure of the social and economic costs of this systemic failure is the remarkably high rate of
recidivism and the associated social fallout. In California close to 80% of all persons released from
prison will return to a state of incarceration within 1 3 years of release. An overwhelming number
of these returning inmates are doing so as a function of their failure to meet or carry out terms of
release, not for the commission of new crimes (Maxwell Royo, 2005). Economically speaking, a
person incarcerated in a State Prison in California costs the state on average $49,000 a year to
house, feed and protect. Amplify that by the latest number of prisoners in state facilities,
approximately 119,000 and we arrive at the staggering figure of $5,831,000,000, wasted funds that
could have been spent in the community. Considering that California

How Entrepreneurs Differ from Other Business Owners Essay
There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few
years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else to be their
own bosses and work for their dreams. Yet, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is
that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular businessowners?
Free lance writer and expert in economic issues Jeanne Holden suggest:
There is no one definitive profile of an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs come in various ages,
income levels, gender, and race. They differ in education and experience. But research indicates that
most successful entrepreneurs share certain personal attributes, including: creativity, dedication, ...

Then, in the middle of starting up a new business entrepreneurs need determination in order to
never give up, even when things seem harder than what they expected; this determination makes
their focus always be on achieving their goals and success. This must work in conjunction with
flexibility, because every entrepreneur must know how to adapt to the changing world and trends in
the business environment, entrepreneurs competing with already established companies must be
open for change and improvement.
After a entrepreneur has managed to establish himself as a business owner, he uses other skills
to walk toward success, these are leadership and passion. Leadership is the capacity of directing
and influencing others; an entrepreneur must also be a leader in order to run a successful business
where employees feel moved and inspired to give the best of them each day. And leadership could
not exist without passion, because that is what makes an entrepreneur feel confident about a new
idea and keeps him focus on his main goal, while also inspiring the people around him.
Self confidence is what makes an entrepreneur make the right and the smartest decision at the right

Basketball Shoes Essay
Basketball is a sport that relies a lot on the player s footwork. You will realize that athletes in
basketball normally make sharp cuts, jump around and move in all directions in a quick manner.
The player must wear the right basketball shoes in order to do this. This will give the player a god
opportunity to succeed in this game. The right pair of basketballshoes will provide the desired
protection, traction and avoid injury while on the court. This is the reason why you should pick the
right pair of basketball shoes. There are several things that you should consider when choosing the
right basketball shoes. These include:

You will realize that there might be shoes that could be appealing to the eye but are not
comfortable to wear. If you choose a pair of basketball shoes that does not fit you well, your feet
are likely to have sores. It can be very painful to cut and make quick movements on the basketball
court. The looks of the shoe can trick you to think that you can handle the discomfort. This can be
detrimental. You always go for comfort while buying these shoes.
4. Ankle support
You will realize that ankle injuries are frequent injuries suffered by most basketball players. If
you want to mitigate this problem, you should invest in basketball shoes that provide ankle
support. In this case, you should choose mid top and high tip shoes. However, if you decide to
wear low top shoes and you have a history of ankle injuries. You should consider buying a low
profile ankle brace for additional ankle support.
5. Durability.
It is important that you choose durable basketball shoes. You should choose a durable pair of shoes
so that it can last longer. Some basketball shoes can be cheap but are not durable. They might last a
month or two. This means that you have to buy others after a few months. This can be costly. You
should invest in a shoe that can support you throughout the basketball

Tsar Nicholas The II Argumentative Analysis
However, in part due to the shrewd negotiating skills of the Russian delegate, Sergei Witte, the
Japanese were unable to secure all of their interests during the Treaty of Portsmouth. While Japan
had several significant, tactically decisive military victories throughout the war and had achieved
several of their limited objectives, they failed to achieve all them. Most important (and injuring) to
the Japanese, was that Russia was not forced to pay indemnity for the war. This was something that
the Tsar Nicholas the II was vehemently against going into the negotiations (Warner, 531) Due to
the current financial status of both countries as a result of the costs of conducting the war, Japan
would ve been hard pressed to be able to continue this war much longer. Both countries had spent
most of their resources to fund this war, and by the time the Russian Fleet was entering the
Tsushima Strait, Japan was reaching the limits of what they afford to support their war effort
(Fuller, 406). With that in mind, they knew that they would need a strong position with which to go

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Borderline Personality Disorder Three clusters categorize personality disorders; Cluster A, Cluster
B, and Cluster C. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) falls into Cluster B. Cluster B consists of
dramatic, emotional, and erratic disorders. Females and males are almost equally diagnosed with
this personality disorder. BPD doesn t favor one gender over the other because both males and
females struggle with aspects in this cluster equally. Borderline Personality Disorderfocuses on the
instability of self image, relationships, and impulses as well as the consequences that may follow.

Impulses are a natural reaction that is almost instinctual. These impulses bleed into your self
image. If an impulse is self mutilation, then self image will weaken. Consequently, when self
image weakens, so will any relationships. These impulses can seem inevitable and leave a person
feeling helpless. Others will deem a person with BPD as hopeless because they cannot rewire
their brains. Someone with BPD believes that they deserve any punishment that they receive or
give themselves (Barlow, 416). This stems curiosity on how and/or why these mindsets develop.
With a child abuse history or history of maltreatment, a child can develop BPD. The Mayo Clinic
provides studies that prove genetics and brain abnormalities may play a role. Research on brain
abnormalities show alterations in parts of the brain that control emotion regulation, impulsivity, and
aggression (The Mayo Clinic, 2015). Abuse of any sort and sharing genes with someone with this

Wild Land Firefighting Essay
Every year in the U.S there are incidents that occurred dealing with fires in the forest. This is when
wild land firefighting comes in to action. Advancements in firefighting have improved in the past
such as improvement in technology in fighting fires, equipment being used, and different
preventions to take in action to help incidents from becoming destructive and uncontrollable, and

firefighting is a rapidly spreading firethat acts very quickly and intensely. Captain Moses Harris

1886. The cavalry remained for thirty two years in Yellowstone National Park. The soldiers began
fighting the fires throughout Yellowstone national park and were also the first wild land fire
fighters to get paid (1). In1910 the Big Blowup fire in northeastern Washington, northern Idaho,
and western Montana destroyed three million acres of timber and killed over eighty firefighters. In
1911 Congress passed the Weeks Act, which among alternative things, provided help for state
forestry organizations that participated in cooperative fire protection work with the federal
government. In 1935, Ferdinand Silcox, the Forest Service Chief, introduced the 10AM Policy, that

Analysis Of Harley Davidson s Life
Summary of analysis and recommendations.
Harley Davidson has been operating as a U.S. motorcycle manufacturer since 1903. Throughout its
life, it has been through many hardships, but just as many successes. Throughout the 1970s and
1980s Harley Davidson experienced tremendous difficulties and almost went bankrupt in 1985. To
its dismay, in the 1990s Harley Davidson experienced several years of record growth and was
ranked in 1990 by BusinessWeek as one of the top U.S. companies with a market value of $515
million. As a sign of their success, they remain the only U.S. motorcycle manufacturer still in
business. Harley Davidson has competed in the U.S. and international markets against 140 other
manufacturers, most of which were larger and far better financed then they were. In 1985, Harley
Davidson was emerging from its hardships and growing as one of the top five motorcycle
manufacturers in U.S. market shares, while also having 31% of its sales coming from overseas. Its
international sales were increasing as they had partnered with a European parts warehouse in
Germany and a joint venture in Japan. In addition to these relationships, it had also partnered with
851 U.S and international dealerships.
As a business, Harley Davidson focused on three major business segments 1) motorcycles and
related products; 2) transportation (both recreational and commercial); and 3) defense and other
businesses. In order to continue its success as a motorcycle manufacturer, the

Defining Polity And The State
Introduction and definitions
Mostly, it is difficult to define polity. As one of the three forces of social power along side
economy and culture polity existed in one form or another in every human society (that we know
of). In the process, It shaped human interactions throughout history, controlled the production
process, controlled the distribution of surplus, controlled who had access to recourses and
privileges, controlled the knowledge production process, controlled and shaped the nature of class
struggle, and controlled the nature of conflict. While it is difficult to examine all these aspects in
this short essay, I will start first with defining polity, and second, I will examine how some of the
major theories had conceptualized polity and the state.
One can define polity as the structure that includes actors and institutions that are organized within
a hierarchical order. This hierarchical order is organized vertically and horizontally, and this
organization shapes the interaction between these actors and institutions on the one hand, and with
other structures within the larger society on the other hand. These actors and institutions work
together within a clearly established system, towards maintaining the status quo, and the interest of
the elite (economic, political, and cultural elite). The different units of polity (actors, bureaucracies,
and institutions) work together within an established culture that is enforced by the authority and
power of the state,

Chemical Castration and Physical Castration Essay
A Critical Analysis of the Effects of Chemical Castration and Physical Castration on the Recidivism
Rates of Sex Offenders
Introduction
This paper examines the effects of chemical castration and physical castration on the recidivism
rates of sex offenders.
Using theory integration or the multifactor approach, the findings reveal there are several factors
influencing sex offender recidivism. Both chemical castration and physical castration have the
potential to reduce the recidivism rates of sex offenders by lowering testosterone levels, diminishing
sexual urges, and making sexual urges more controllable if the sexual urges are motivated by
increased testosterone levels. Based on theory integration, most sex offences are not ... Show more

44% of rape victims are children under the age of eighteen.
Unfortunately, only one out of sixteen rapists will ever get convicted and serve jail time; the
other fifteen will walk free (RAINN Statistics, 2003). There is debate about what to do with the
small percentage of sex offenders who do wind up in prison. Some states and criminal justice
agencies are experimenting with new methods of dealing with paroled sex offenders, namely
chemical castration and physical castration, in order to curb sex offender recidivism.
Laws were first passed in the United States in 1996 allowing for the chemical castration of sex
offenders. Chemical castration is the medicinal treatment of deviant sexual behavior by reducing
testosterone secretion in order to diminish sexual preoccupation and urges, making self control
easier (Treatment of Men with Paraphilia, 1998). Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate) is
named as the legally mandated drug of choice for chemical castration (Castration and Drug Therapy,
1999). The drug is administered by injection.
California was the first state to enact legislation in support of chemical castration. According to
the California Board of Prison Terms (2003) any person guilty of a first conviction of specified
sex offenses, where the victim is under 13 years of age, may be required to receive
medroxyprogesterone acetate treatment upon parole, and any person convicted of two such

The Use Of Steam As A Thing Of The Past And Many Schools...
Next I asked, The acronym STEM is quickly becoming a thing of the past and many schools,
including William Henry, are adopting and transitioning to STEAM focused curriculums and
programs. How is STEAM being used at William Henry? Giddens responded, The A stands for
arts, and it being integrated into the school program. He further stated, For a time, arts were for
gifted students only. Now, all students have an opportunity to have some part of their school
experience geared to some form of the arts. Giddens was also pleased to inform us that William
Henry was recently recognized as a Superstars in Educationschool for its arts programs.
Roblen (2016) states the acronym STEM shorthand for science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics has quickly taken hold in education policy circles, but some experts in the arts
community and beyond suggest it may be missing another initial toward making the combination
more powerful. The idea? Move from STEM to STEAM, with an A for the arts. Although it seems a
stretch to imagine STEM will be replaced in education parlance, momentum appears to be mounting
to explore ways that the intersection of the arts with the STEM fields can enhance student
engagement and learning, and even help unlock creative thinking and innovation.
One advocate of the STEM to STEAM push is Harvey Seifter, the director of the Art of Science
Learning, a project financed by an NSF grant that organized three conferences last spring in

  • 2. J. Cole s Speech Analysis As a little girl, I would stand in front of my mother s mirror, grab the television remote and pretend to deliver a speech before my stuffed animals. There was no question whenever I was asked, What do you want to be when you grow up? that I d quickly respond with, the president of the United States. Although that childhood dream quickly diferred, as a college freshman at the age of 19, I would experience an event that may someday be written down in history books because it was not an average event of entertainment in seeing J. Cole perform live at a coliseum or Dwayne Wade in a Miami Heat Jersey at the American Airlines Arena. This was an event that have affected the lives of many and brought about more awareness of the oppression America... As a student at the College of Charleston at that time, I could recall hearing loud police sirens near my apartment and receiving a vast number of phone calls from loved ones to assure that I was ok. I was unaware of what had just happened 0.3 miles up the road. Days later I was pleased to hear that President Obama would be in town to deliver the eulogy for the city hero. The morning of the funeral, I woke up hours in advance to stand in line. Even then, hundreds stood before me. Never in my life had I seen so many police officers and people from across the world. As I entered the doors of the TD Arena, I felt love, grace, and forgiveness. I heard honor from such a pleasant and honorable man. I heard praises from the citizens of the Holy City and my favorite; the eulogy given that spake of race, a need for gun control, and the controversy of the confederate flag. It was the most touching when Obama lead everyone in attendance in the singing of Amazing Grace. The entire multi purpose arena holding over 5,000 persons were completely filled. This event was not only unforgettable because of the opportunity to see the President of the U.S. speak at such a heart breaking, yet honorable event, but because I witnessed an act that was meant to start a ... Terrorism, the very word bring a foul mood with it, wherever it goes, yet most don t even know the meaning of the word. Most people insult the idea without very little thought, even when knowing not a thing about it, or why its being caused. The Boston Tea party was an act of terrorism, and is taught to be known as one in some schools in the U.S., and many will rise and say that the Boston Tea Party was a justified, valiant, and patriotic act. Terrorism, in many cases, can be proven. The ANO is a terrorist organization the resides in the Israel/Palestine state, whose goals are to destroy the existing Israeli state that they ve been forced to share their land with. Founded in 1974 by Sabri al Banna whose nom de guerre, Abu Nidal, means father of the struggle. Abu Nidal was a high ranking official in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and served as PLO representative to several Arab states. Abu Nidal bitterly opposed the idea of a Palestinian state co existing with an Israeli state and after the PLO began leaning towards reconciliation with the Jewish state, he split with the group to form the ANO. • 5. Thomas Paine Age Of Reason The Age of Reason in America was a revolutionary time in this country and American political activist Thomas Paine had big involvement in this. When the 1700s came to an end so did puritanism in America., Bbrilliant thinkers and scientists from the 17th century such as Galileo, Newton, Voltaire, Rousseau, John Locke and many more helped discover new ways of thinking and believing in reason over faith. This discovery, an evolution in America, helped explain a lot and correct many problems and conflicts of the past. Citizens of America were believing in reasoning and scientific proof rather than just living by religiononly. Thomas Paineenlightened a whole country with his theories and belief through his book ВЁThe Age of ReasonВЁ and also a new way of believing which was called Deism. Deism is the belief that the universe is good, and accepting the existence of a creator on the basis of reason but rejected belief in a supernatural deity who interacts with humankind.... The principle of the Age of Reason was to think and live a different way. Another big factor in the Age of Reason was instead of Cchristianity overruling all religious beliefs, Deism arises and was which most philosophers believed in and they did believe that God created Earth but believed there was logic and a reason for everything being the way it is. The doping of semiconductor by rare earth metal nanoparticles is an effective way for increasing in photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis spectroscopy displayed the absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La which is extremely favorable for absorbing the visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of La ions and found that La doped ZnO nanoparticles is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in promoting the generation of hydroxyl radicals, holes and the photocatalytic activity of ... • 7. Exothersmic And Endothermic Interaction AlmaOlguin Period:5 Science Fair Research In our daily life, we constantly have interactions of chemical reactions, such as endothermic and exothermic reactions. In general all chemical reactions are important to our society to achieve certain activities. Some examples are smelting iron, making class, burning fuels, brewing beer, making wine and cheese, and etc. Most importantly I will be researching what are exothermic and endothermic reactions and how they can affect our daily life. Chemical reactions is a process when the reactants convert to products. A reactant is a substance that goes in to a chemical reactionand undergoes change is a reactant. The final substance of the chemical reaction is the product. A chemical reaction rearranges the molecular structure of a substance. Substances are either chemical elements or compounds(Treichel and Kotz). Chemical reactions either result of chemical bonds forming or breaking. Chemical reactions are distinguished by the following four ways(Shukla). The first way a chemical reaction is distinguished is the physical state of the reactants and the products to see if all the substances are in the same physical state or in a different physical state. The two types of chemical reactions to distinguish the physical state are homogeneous reaction or heterogeneous reaction. The second way to identify a chemical reaction is the type /nature of the chemical. Some examples are synthesis reactions,Decomposition reactions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Erikson s Eight Stages Of Psychosocial Development When I look back to my transition to college and how my family has supported me throughout my life, I realized that many developmental theories could apply. In Erikson s Eight Stages of Psychosocial Development, he uses different ranges of age to portray one s crises and dilemmas in various stages of life (Bjorklund, 2015). As an 18 year old college student, I feel connected to the fifth stage of Erikson s Stages of Psychosocial Development: Identity versus Role Confusion. In the fifth stage, Erikson describes that during the ages 13 18, most teens are transitioning to young adults and this is the stage in human development where they are trying to find their identity in their occupation, gender/sex role, religion, and politics (Bjorklund, 2015). Either they have found their identity or they have failed to find their identity which leads into a role confusion. During my transition into college, I experienced an identity crisis for not knowing what I wanted to study or pursue as a career. Before I came to college, I was considering a career in Math and I thought I knew what I wanted to study. However, as I grew older and saw different perspectives of my intended career as a college student, I changed my mind. Although I have begun to answer some of these questions about gender roles, religion, and politics, I am still uncertain of my occupational identity. Although Erikson s stages of human development might have fit with the expectations in his generation, I think his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You need to know that when you pull the trigger, you are going to hit your target. If you do not, you will lose the capture. The same can be said for all other forms of target shooting and the further away your target is, the harder it will be to hit your mark. That is why there are so many who wonder which best, a rifle scope or a spotting scope. Perhaps it is here that you will find the answer. High End Rifle Scopes Vs a Spotting Scope There are many reasons that someone may choose to go with a higher end scope. It is often a lot more stable to look through than a pair of binoculars or even a rifle scope because it is designed to be used on a stationary tripod or some other stable surface. Perhaps Use Both? There are people who use both devices because they perform a different job. It is easier for many to use the spotting scope rather than binoculars when they want to see over a long distance and it also ensures that they are not possibly pointing their rifle at something they would not want to shoot. There are also those people who feel that if you have a good rifle scope, you do not need to carry more than absolutely necessary when you are out in the woods. They feel that their rifle scopes are just as accurate as a spotting scope and that when they see a target, it is easier to use their rifle and shoot at it rather than have to site it again. It all depends on how each individual feels about it. How are They Most Useful? A spotting scope is designed to be accurate while you are scanning the area for a potential target. Then you can zero in on the target with your rifle scope and wait for a clear shot at it. They are easier to use than binoculars and offer a very clear view of targets that are far ... In light of President Barack Obama s landmark visit to India this year, the two nations reached a tentative agreement regarding the nuclear liability issue in terms of shared risk and U.S tracking of nuclear material. The main idea was to transfer the financial risk to the insurers in case of an accident. The US India civil nuclear deal (123 Agreement) had been stalemated for several years on 2 counts 1) The Liability clause that the US companies (GE and Westinghouse) saw as affecting their profitability the compromise worked out is the creation of some kind of an insurance pool. Under this workaround, an Indian state run insurance company GIC Re will contribute $122 million to the insurance pool with the balance being covered by the Indian Government. 2) The US insistence on tracking the movement of nuclear fuel from third country sources this has now been addressed by the US letting go of this demand and both countries agreeing to ... Centuries of countless war, uprisings, and oppression has marked history as a repeating cycle of hate and violence. The people want change from their government about critical issues, but change is not always guaranteed to be given. With change comes opposition and opposition only gives rise to violence. The day is Aug. 9 and 18 yr. old Michael Brown has just been shot. Due to the tension dividing the country Brown s death was immediately looked at as a racial issue. Michael Brown s death was another added to the list surely not the last and the people knew this. Change was needed and that burning need for it is what started the riots. The citizens of Ferguson were fed up with how the people of the country were treated by law enforcement and decided to make a stand. Ferguson would be thrown in the spotlight for what s wrong with America . The police and the people of the country had a broken bond. Those entrusted to protect the people were no longer trusted. The riots in Ferguson were not called for because they only led to the destruction of the city and the arrest of protesters. They accomplished nothing and took away from the reason of the riots, Michael Brown s unjust death. Risk And Politics Of Disaster Coverage Analysis of Risk and Politics of Disaster Coverage in Haiti and Katrina Introduction and Purpose of the Study The article, Risk and Politics of Disaster Coverage in Haiti and Katrina, by Jennifer Petersen of the University of Virginia, which appeared in the journal Communication, Culture Critique in 2014, provides a comparison and contrast of the media coverage of Hurricane Katrina (2005), which devastated the U.S. Gulf Coast and was the costliest natural disaster in the nation s history, and the Jan. 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, which devastated one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere. The purpose of the article is to discuss the reasons why the news media framed Hurricane Katrina as an unmitigated and unimaginable catastrophe that violated expected norms, while the 2010 Haiti earthquake was framed as an almost routine and manageable crisis, despite the fact that the Haiti earthquake caused much more loss of life and human suffering than Katrina. This purpose is discussed in both the short, nine line abstract, and the introduction. Literature Review and Research Questions Petersen cites more than 50 sources as references for her study. For others, it is easier to comprehend more serious political topics when humor is involved. Satire can be helpful to some in the transmission of information. I agree completely with this. We can see that characters in a tragedy make very difficult decisions and take them seriously. (Hajdu 2). The Causes For The Emergence Of Speech The Causes for the Emergence of Speech in Humans By Fazrurnaguib Paharuddin Since the beginning of time, humans utilized the mechanism of speech to interact with each other and to gain specific needs and benefits. The emergence of Homo sapiens finally revolutionized the way humans achieve what they wants. Humans are assumed as a magnificent creature and consequently each cultures has its own tale on how we became exist and prominent on the Earth (Long, 1963). Speech and language are among the pivotal keys to the purposes of social communication. In this paper, I will discuss about the foundation of speech in humans. The study of this topic is hard and controversial because there is no direct evidence linking the reasons and the theories. For this reasons, scholars from many different areas have come up with varieties of ideas and speculation to resolve the causes and the chain events of reactions that lead to the emergence of speech in humans. Humans extraordinary ability to make use of the mouth for speech caused scholars to deduce that this evolution is a compelling progression (Fitch, 2000). To get the matter at hand precise and concise, I will select a few theories that I found fascinating and analyze them. The advantages and disadvantage of these theories will be looked at to determine which of them best answers the real justification of the development of speech in humans. • 28. Reinforcement Schedules Work Explain how reinforcement schedules work using everyday examples. Reinforcement means to strengthen, and is used in psychology to refer to anything stimulus which strengthens or increases the probability of a specific response. For example, if you want your child to do something more and more, you may give her a treat every time she does that. Thus the child will eventually know that if I do this, it will be followed by a treat and the more you praise her the more she repeats that. This might be cleaning the table after every meal that she takes and you give her praise or a tin of yoghurt for cleaning the table. Another example of reinforcement could be something happening at work when you know that a promotion comes after a hard work. This is done in different forms of reinforcements which are positive and negative reinforcement, punishment and extinction. There are also different reinforcement schedules which are fixed and variable ratios and fixed and variable intervals. All these are used in our day to day living when people are being rewarded or punished for different responses. This was done by BF Skinner through his experiments which gave him a result that any behaviour is followed by a consequence. (http://www.allpsych.com/tests/psychology/learning.html) Reinforcement schedules rely on the principles of operant conditioning which is a type of associative learning in which a person s behaviour changes according to consequences associated with that behaviour. ... Created to fulfill the will of mankind, they only know a life without choices and opinions. This causes them to have certain desires that seem very humanistic in nature. • 37. Singularly Perturbed Problem Essay section{Parameter Uniform} In the context of singularly perturbed problems posed on non rectangular domains, the finite element method is a natural choice for many researchers (e.g. cite{118}). However, in the context of singularly perturbed convection diffusion problems, it is difficult to construct monotone methods on highly anisotropic meshes, which are desirable when thin layers are present. Moreover, energy norms or other norms based on the $L^2 $norm, are the natural norms associated with variational methods. Error analysis in the pointwise norm is not straightforward in a finite element framework, especially when one is dealing with a problem that is not self adjoint. Given that their interest lies in parameter uniform numerical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The presence of a convective term means that the data of the problem across the entire domain has an influence on the outflow boundary layer, in contrast to reaction diffusion problems where it is only the data local to a boundary that has an influence on the boundary layer. Hegarty and O Riordan cite{115} constructed a parameter uniform numerical methods for the singularly perturbed problem posed on a circular domain. Asymptotic expansions for the solutions to such a problem have been established in cite{120,121,122,123}. Analytical expressions for the exact solution, in the case of constant data, are given in cite{123} as a Fourier series with coefficients written in terms of modified Bessel functions. In cite{120,121,122} sufficient compatibility conditions are identified so that the accuracy of the asymptotic expansion can be estimated in the $L^2 $norm or in a suitably weighted energy norm. These expansions are derived without recourse to a maximum principle. The smooth case, where significant compatibility is assumed, is examined in cite{120}; the non compatible case with a polynomial source term is studied in cite{125} and for a more general source term in cite{122}. Based on these asymptotic expansions, a numerical method is constructed in cite{124} for the problem, which uses a quasi uniform mesh (which is, hence, not layer adapted). I believe this is a great topic for me as my intended professional goal is to become a video game developer. Where would a professional game developer, like myself, be without a proper gaming PC. Plus, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion. I have owned many gaming consoles, PC s, and Mac s over the years. If you are a true gamer, you will already know which platform is the best for you. Now getting into the main portion of my topic why PC is the best for gaming. First off, PC s use only a GPU, allowing this item to be upgraded while advancements in technology take place. This, in turn, allows a PC to have full access to incredible graphics, giving the gamer a higher level gaming experience. There are three primary components that are the foundations to building a great PC, they are the central processing unit (CPU), also called a processor, the video card and memory (RAM). (Bellerophon08, 2013) You will find many different brands and styles, such as an AMD FX 8350 AM3+ 4.0Ghz (CPU) or a Kingston HyperX blu 1600mhz 2x4GB (RAM). They all depend on what suits your individual needs and budget. One of the most exiting components I get to talk about, is the motherboard. Just like its title this is what brings all the components together in harmony. One interesting fact I didn t know, but was crucial to the proper function of a PC, is a motherboard socket type. Seeing as they are not interchangeable, you need to make sure you know what CPU you are investing in, as you are unable to mix and match a motherboard and CPU brand. For example, if you ... Between 1819, the ending of the First Seminole War, and 1835, the beginning of the Second, the United States government did everything within its power to not only remove the Natives Americans from its borders, but did so through seditious and deceptive legislature. It was during this time that the expansion of the power of the president and a complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and their willingness to use extralegal means to achieve their desired goals. This era remains one of the saddest affairs in American history, and provides insight into how the executive branch was able to attain new power during the era of Jackson. In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole War, one must first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole protection of runaway slaves, Andrew Jackson and more than three thousand men entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to decimate Seminole populations. Despite most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the United States government and protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a war hero throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the government to punish Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both Britain and Spain. The Adam Onis Treaty of 1819 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the major consequences of this crisis is seen in jails and prisons around the nation that are increasingly populated by individuals with untreated mental illness, with some facilities reporting that one third or more of their inmates are severely mentally ill. (Torrey et al., 2012. p. 6). One measure of the social and economic costs of this systemic failure is the remarkably high rate of recidivism and the associated social fallout. In California close to 80% of all persons released from prison will return to a state of incarceration within 1 3 years of release. An overwhelming number of these returning inmates are doing so as a function of their failure to meet or carry out terms of release, not for the commission of new crimes (Maxwell Royo, 2005). Economically speaking, a person incarcerated in a State Prison in California costs the state on average $49,000 a year to house, feed and protect. This was something that the Tsar Nicholas the II was vehemently against going into the negotiations (Warner, 531) Due to the current financial status of both countries as a result of the costs of conducting the war, Japan would ve been hard pressed to be able to continue this war much longer. As one of the three forces of social power along side economy and culture polity existed in one form or another in every human society (that we know of). In the process, It shaped human interactions throughout history, controlled the production process, controlled the distribution of surplus, controlled who had access to recourses and privileges, controlled the knowledge production process, controlled and shaped the nature of class struggle, and controlled the nature of conflict. While it is difficult to examine all these aspects in this short essay, I will start first with defining polity, and second, I will examine how some of the major theories had conceptualized polity and the state. One can define polity as the structure that includes actors and institutions that are organized within a hierarchical order. This hierarchical order is organized vertically and horizontally, and this organization shapes the interaction between these actors and institutions on the one hand, and with other structures within the larger society on the other hand. These actors and institutions work together within a clearly established system, towards maintaining the status quo, and the interest of the elite (economic, political, and cultural elite). Some states and criminal justice agencies are experimenting with new methods of dealing with paroled sex offenders, namely chemical castration and physical castration, in order to curb sex offender recidivism. Laws were first passed in the United States in 1996 allowing for the chemical castration of sex offenders. Chemical castration is the medicinal treatment of deviant sexual behavior by reducing testosterone secretion in order to diminish sexual preoccupation and urges, making self control easier (Treatment of Men with Paraphilia, 1998).
