Hydrogen Batteries And Fuel Cells
Introduction Batteries/Fuel Cells Fuel cells operate via a chemical reaction which generates
electricity. All fuel cells contain a positive anode, a negative cathode and an electrolyte to carry the
charged particles through the cell. They also contain a catalyst which will increase the rate of the
reaction occurring. The electricity produced can then used to power various appliances. This, in
turn, creates a circuit with the current continually flowing in and out of the cell until the reaction
ceases . Recently the development metal air batteries (which can be produced from a range of
metals from Aluminium to Zinc Primary and Secondary Batteries) have become very important.
They are used to power electric vehicles and other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

energy density of a magnesium air fuel cell is 3.1V and 6.8kWhkg 1iii hence has the potential
for creating highly efficient fuel cells in the future. This coupled with the fact that there is no
shortage of Magnesium on the planet means that the resources, although finite, are unlikely to
run out and so Magnesium is an ideal material to use. Also the properties of the metal, such as
reactivity, toxicity etc are ideal for this applicationi. Materials Involved in the production of
Magnesium Air Batteries Anode As mentioned previously the anode is composed of Magnesium
metal (atomic weight 24.312 ) and is oxidised to produce electrons. The reason this metal is used
because it is lightweight, cheap and has a high standard potential. These fuel cells are also
generally very durable and can be easily stored. Easy storage is made possible by the fact that a
protective film is naturally produced over the positive anode. However this decreases once some
of the energy has been released from the cell. Hence it is not ideal to be used in a situation where
over a long period of time there are times when the cell is not being used. This is part of the reason
why lithium batteries are

Selecting The Appropriate Research Methods
3. Methodology When selecting the appropriate research methods, it was important for me to
carefully consider the approaches that would best fit my research in order to reach meaningful
conclusions. I decided to choose approaches that I see fit around my research topic and would
ensure I achieve the results to come out of my research. As (Walker, 1985, p.46) advocates that Just
as recipes are not simply things that are done to food, but become concepts within which method
and substance are compounded. Methods in research can become an intrinsic part of the project.
The methods we choose are, in this sense, there to be tested, just as much as the substantive
hypothesis . This claims that the methods that are chosen to embark on an area of research are a
vital part of the project and need to be taken into account just as much as the question that the
methods are used to answer it. Therefore, the two approaches I chose to shape my research were a
case studyand appreciative inquiry to allow me to collect the data I had selected which was the
following; questionnaires, interviews and observations.
3.1 Case Study
I have chosen to approach my research by using a case study approach which builds up a rich
picture of a case using different kinds of data collection and gathering the views, perceptions and
ideas of diverse individuals relating to the case. (Yin, 2009, p.15) states The case study method is
most likely to be appropriate for how and why questions . This supports

Is Belisa Crepusculario s Character In Two Words By Isabel...
Two Words is a short story written by Isabel Allende. In it, Allende uses the laborious background
and strong personality of her protagonist, Belisa Crepusculario, to highlight that a female can be
empowered in a patriarchal society by developing her personality and linguistic charms. Belisa is
brave, determined, tough and well educated and stands in opposition to the figure of the
submissive, effeminate, and innocent traditional woman. In the first location of the story, Allende
demonstrates that Belisa has a strong sense of survival that she had developed through the
hardships in her childhood, which ultimately guide her through life threatening situations, such as
hydropenia and being kidnapped. She grows up in a desperately poor family, and, when she was
12, she had no occupation or virtue other than having withstood hunger and the exhaustion of
centuries. (1) She has to suffer from the effects of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Belisa makes her own way in life by doing business and selling words to others. One day, a cloud
of armed militants who are known by death rushes to her tent. Animals are escaping and people
run away fastly, nevertheless, Belisa is the only living soul left in the market (2) and watches EL
Mulato walking towards her .(2) It can be seen that after years of wandering life and difficulties,
Belisa is a calm and mature female now. Secondly, traditional genderroles are switched in Allende s
story because, while Belisa demonstrates effective

Descriptive Essay About My Home
Long Island, New York is my birthplace and my home. I ve lived here my entire existence of 17
years and I am blessed. I grew up in a 4 bedroom home in a town by the name of Williston Park.
My home is a two story colonial with a large front and back yard. The lush green grass and the
variety of plants in the front yard make it aesthetically pleasing. The white siding of the home
make it really hard to keep clean. The four windows in the front of the home make it look as if
the house is smiling when you go towards it. Most of the homes in my neighborhood are similar
in size and basic structure. Many of these homes are occupied by older white couples. Although
my town isn t as diverse as the neighboring towns I love my neighborhood. Some of my favorite
things to do are having casual conversations with my older neighbor John; going to the many
baseball or football fields to play with my friends; go to Roosevelt Field Mall, or go to one of the
many restaurants we have, or finally go to a place called Bounce, which is an indoor trampoline
park. One of the greatest parts about my neighborhood is the sense of community and how we
are able to set our differences aside when people we care about are in need. Growing up on Long
Island we don t have as much access to public transportation compared to NYC, so I usually asked
my parents for rides or was stuck walking miles to my friend s house, or wherever else I went. Once
I reached the age I really had no choice other than to get my

Creation Stories Research Paper
Creation Stories Different cultures have assorted interpretations of how the earth was created.
Many people believe the genesis story of how god created the earth in seven days. Others have the
belief that the earth bloomed from a big bang in space. There are many stories that are alike within
boundaries of creation, and there are many differences. Even though the Chinese and Greek creation
stories are fairly different, they both have their similarities and differences. There are similarities in
the creation archetypes of the universein the Greek and Chinese creation stories. In the first

Art and Video Game
Historically video games have been considered a novelty or technical subject, but in recent year
given the increase in technology video games have been able to show that they are more. While
not a traditional art form, video games do have an artistic basis. Video games are increasingly
becoming more story and visually based. With these increased artistic elements it is increasingly
becoming harder to deny that video games are art, but maybe they are not the art defined by a
traditional definition. Critics state that that video games do not have the artistic values that art has
but perhaps there needs to be a new definition of what art is to include video games. Art can be

Saints Row, a game some would argue immature do to its use of juvenile humor and phallic
weapon choices, is in fact a great example of video games maturing as an art form. As seen
throughout the history of movies, there is a pattern of genre creation and criticism of the genre
through spoofs and satirical works. Saints Row is an example of this development in video
games, criticizing the gangster crime genre made notorious by Grand Theft Auto. This
development in the genre is an example of a genre referring back to itself and poking holes in
some of its conventions, a key element of a maturing medium. Traditionally art has been
produced by a single artist, a major criticism of the notion that video games, a collaborative
effort of a team, could be considered an art form. This criticism is limited to mainstream video
games, though, since many independently developed video games are the works of a small
team, as few as two, and they display the most artistic characteristics. Not burdened by the heavy
costs of triple a game development indie developers are able to put their hearts into their games
and produce wonderfully artistic games and not worry about if it will sell to the widest audience.
These games are evidence of the artistically heights video games can achieve. Video games are a
collaborative art form created by a team instead of a singular artisan (Hall). That is not to say that

The Stop-And-Frisk Law
New York City is one of the most popular cities in the United States. It is home to Times Square,
Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and known to be the most culturally diverse part of
the world. New York is one of the most visited cities in the country. New York City consists of five
boroughs; Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. According to The Wall
Street Journal s website, there have been over 53 million visitors in just 2013. With it s vast
popularity comes a high crimerate. New York City is also a popular target amongst terrorism
groups with a recorded 17 terrorist related crimes. As a society, we are continuously faced with
the difficulty of surrendering our freedom to increase our safety. The Stop and Frisk law allowed
New York City policeoffers to stop and search people for the suspicion of weapons, drugs and
other illegal imports. This program that was started by the previous New York Major Bloomberg
with the help of the police chief, sparked a lot of controversy because New Yorker s believed this
new law was going against their rights protected by the 4th Amendment.

Personally Responsible, Participatory Citizen, And...
There are three kinds of citizens Personally Responsible, Participatory Citizen, and Justice Oriented
Citizen. Personally responsible citizen is on who donate, obey laws, and are responsible.
Participatory citizen is where the person holds leadership positions in the community, and puts
effort towards making a difference, they understand the governmentagencies and policies. Justice
oriented citizen is the third kind of citizen. This person wants to understand why things are the way
they are. They will do research and get to the bottom of the issue and suggest a ways to improve
that concern.
The article addresses the three kinds of citizenships. The descriptions for each are very similar to
the other article read in class. Participatory citizen is being an active leader and service. Justice
oriented citizen was explained as a good citizen who questions what is going on around them and
why. They approach the systems or issue to face it head on. Searchers from the article stated justice
oriented citizenship that is linked to social action. The article addresses how research can be
unclear, documented, and unrealistic. They reference that people may do these things out of their
heart or just for a an award to themselves. It is important to educate our children to really focus on
the facts, and think outside the box that will impact all of the society in the best possible way.

The Ethics Of File Sharing
CMSC 350 second paper Michael Montgomery
The Ethics of File Sharing
File sharing is the act of someone making a copy of a file and sending it to another person. The
method of sharing includes Internet peer to peer transfers, but also includes physical CD copies,
emails, and mobile storage devices. Companies are justified in focusing on physical CD sales and
online peer to peer file sharing, as their sales have potential to cause harm. Loss of sales is indeed
what is happening. Consumers need to be more aware of the risks of file sharing. File sharing
increases risks of viruses or loss of personal info. Education on the risks and side effects of file
sharing need to exist or be clearer to the younger audience. File sharing spreads hundreds ... Show

In Taiwan 1997, music sales hit 12 billion in their country specific currency. That statistic
dropped to 2 billion at 2012 due to the increasing amount of internet usage. (3) On further study
via surveying usage, riskiness, and preferences of media, people told an activity is likely to get
caught doing and has a large fine is 7% likely to continue performing. This statistic is vs 75%
likely to continue performing illegal acts if low risk of getting caught and low fines. (3) Using
this information, increasing estimated risk and increasing actual fines will have a great
reduction in piracy (3). To do that, high schools and colleges need to push the possibilities of
getting caught and the severity of penalties. Education on the risks of file sharing for consumers
can lead to reduction of piracy, and increased safety for users as well. File sharing doesn t just
affect big companies. Single artists and small bands have always strived to get their work out
and hopefully also for sales to continue making work. If consumers knew how businesses
worked and the years of time it takes for a product to become available, then they d be less likely
to steal via pirating. Piracy has protections, Recent research done by the Vienna University of
Technology shows that distributing infected cracks or keygens is one of the ways malware can
spread... Their analysis shows that about 50% of collected cracks and keygens tested are infected
with malware (8). If customers

Vehicle Repair History Check
If you are about to buy a used vehicle, it is essential that you check all relevant details so that you
have no regrets later on. It is important that you run a vehicle repair history check. It is important
because you must know about the vehicle s exact condition, instead of relying on the information
given by the seller, because there is a large possibility that the seller is not being totally truthful.
A vehicle repair history check tells you about the history of any repairs done on the vehicle. It also
informs you about the vehicle s owner. Apart from the services done on the vehicle, it also gives
you other minuscule information such as the type of repair work done on the vehicle. It tells us
about the used vehicle s actual condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dealer will inform you about the repairs done on the vehicle if it was done in his workshop.
If the vehicle was not repaired in the dealer s workshop, then it is advisable to ask the seller. The
seller would be able to give you details about the workshop where the vehicle was repaired. You
then just have to visit the workshop. These workshops have the records of the vehicles repaired
there, in a computerized form. You just have to give them the VIN and they will tell you about the
vehicle s repair history.
However, the best way of discovering a vehicle s repair history is to carry out a complete vehicle
history check through one of the registered agencies. By running an online vehicle history check
you will have full details of what repairs the vehicle has undergone in its lifetime. This will make it
impossible for a seller to give false information and is a good way for a prospective buyer of a used
car to protect himself.
As you probably already know, having details of a used car s history is essential before purchase.
And with online car history checking services offering a full repair history so easily and quickly,
there is no excuse for any prospective used car buyer to not take this simple step to protect

Biomems Devices Are Manufactured Using Similar...
BioMEMS devices are manufactured using similar microfabrication techniques as those used in
semiconductor processing (such as photolithography, thin film deposition and etching ) to produce
the desired configuration of features, including traces (thin metal wires), vias (interlayer
connections), reservoirs, valves, and membranes. The interest in BioMEMS is growing rapidly,
with opportunities in areas such as biosensors, pacemakers, immunoisolation capsules, and drug
delivery [31]. Microcantilever is one of the most widely studied bioMEMS in the area of biosensors.
It converts surface based biochemical interactions into mechanical signals. In particular, when
biomolecules immobilized on the cantilever surface undergo intermolecular reactions, such as
antibody antigen interaction [32], hybridization of DNA interaction [33], receptor ligand [34]; their
conformational change causes a change in the surface stress on the cantilever due to reduction
decrease in free energy. The deflection of the cantilever induced by the surface stress change
provides a direct measure of the biomolecular interaction. For instance, the steady state cantilever
deflection can indicate the fraction of immobilized biomolecules that have bound to free analytes in
solution, while the time to reach steady state reflects the rate constant of the specific binding [35].
When one surface of the cantilever undergoes a surface stress change, the cantilever bends
accordingly upward or downward depending on

City County Consolidation Case Study
INTRODUCTION
On November 7, 1972, voters in Fayette County and Lexington Kentucky decided to consolidate
their city and county government. 69.8 percent of the 62,197 voters who showed up to the polls
cast their ballots in support of the merger (Shaw 2010). City county consolidation occurs when a
local government reform in which a major municipality and county merge to create a unified
government. Smaller governments are believed to benefit by their ability to take advantage of
larger government economies. These referenda have shown to be mostly unsuccessful, partly
because of how unpopular it is with voters. City county consolidation has been debated for decades,

Marx s Term For Capitalist
Bourgeoisie: Page 10; Marx s term for capitalist, those who own the means of production.
The food production companies have accentually bought the government. If they come up with a
plan to produce more food, no matter how harmful it may be to the consumer, the government will
not step in to protect the citizen of Americans. As the bourgeoisie owns the industry, this fact has
been proven within the video of Food Inc. What is astonishing is that a company was actually
able to get a patent on life. How can a company be allowed to monopolize an entire industry?
That is depriving people of their basic human right of life, to eat healthy food, food that has not
been modified by harmful hormones or genetics. Several of the food production companies give
jobs to illegal immigrants and once their services are no longer needed, then the heads of these
companies call immigration to have them arrested and deported back to their home country. This in
turn saves the company money because they do not have to pay out anything for unemployment
wages for laying the employees off for a period of time. The food industry has really become the
bourgeoisie of this century.
Proletariat: Page 10: Marx s term for the exploited class, the mass of workers who do not have the

My Field Placement Is At A Public School Essay
My field placement is at a public school in an urban setting right outside of Philadelphia. The

almost one third of the student body is visually impaired. I work in a mixed classroom of second

students. Two of these students have visual impairments severe enough that they must use

well as an assistant teacher who helps out every day, so when I am present there is a ratio of
three adults to ten students. The classroom itself is divided into several different sections each
with specific purposes. On one side of the room, there are ten desks in two rows of four and one
row of two which face a blackboard. The blackboard is always covered with the morning

foundation to identify workplaces and optimized algorithms for each one. Combined with years
of experience, I was ready to show my engineering skills in a large and challenging project. I

operation. In the first step, I introduced myself to the client s staff and explained that I need to

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
One Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich was the first novel written by the Nobel laureate Alexandr
Solzhenitsyn. It revolves around one day in the life of an inmate in a Gulag , which was a name
given to the forced labor camps in the Soviet Union. The novel is set during the winter of 1951
when the Soviet Union was under the communist rule of Joseph Stalin. The novel can be seen as an
autobiographical account of Solzhenitsyn s life as the author was arrested for making derogatory
remarks about Stalin, following which he spent a long time in prisons and labor camps very
similar to the one described in the novel. The novel has been written in the first person narrative
through the eyes of Ivan Denisovich who is serving his eighth year of his ten year sentence.

Chronic food shortages affected a lot of prisoners. The privileged few, however, escaped food
paucity by bribing corrupt officials. The others would tend to turn very desperate. An example
of this is of a prisoner called Fetiukov, who is despised and referred to as the Jackal by his fellow
prisoners. He would lick the leftovers of the other zeks and would beg for almost anything he
could get, in turn losing his self respect and dignity among the members of his squad. There was
also a lot of corruption in the kitchens. The cooks would eat as much as their belly would , and
offer extra helpings to those who would help them do their work, like collecting plates and

Social Class Reflection
When There Is a Direction to Choose, Choose Forward
Middle school is where it all started. Just mentioning the word middle school can dig up popular
and gooey or humiliating and traumatic memories. Seven long hours before my very first day, I
didn t have a sliver of a chance of falling into any level of sleep. My thoughts were in a frazzle
with anticipation, weighing heavy to remember my seven class schedule, hoping I can run fast
enough from my class in the far north corner up the stairs and down a very long hallway to the
south dwelling class. Trying to keep my combination straight, I sounded like a likely candidate
for a psych ward........right 32, left 16, right 40.......right 32, left 16, right 40 over and over and
over. School wasn t about learning, it was about being 8 steps ahead in case a popular competition
moved in or how to patch the ding in my social class status. We are brought into this world with
countless opportunities of being whoever we want.
Our juvenile years are full of mistakes and sifting through our core beliefs to sculpt out who that
is. I learned a hard lesson that if you don t have the grades it doesn t matter how good you would
have been at cheerleading. You were easily replaceable. I fell off the horse and instead of getting
back up again....I chose to be afraid of the horse. Friend circles were closing and I didn t acquire
the right credentials to join the ones my mom would encourage. I kept my eyes and ears open in
the event it was

The car has been a mainstay of American culture for about a century. The idea of a car in every
garage has been around for almost as long. Teenagers view getting their driver s license as a rite
of passage and our cross country highways support the notion of the Great American Road Trip.
We drive our cars everywhere. And after all these years, doing so has become a problem. [1]
Over the last century, the Earth s average temperature has risen by 1.4 В°F. Over the next century,
that average is expected to rise an additional 2 11.5 В°F. This change has shown a strong
correlation with the increase of greenhouse gases emitted by the burning of fossil fuels for energy

[4] Ethanol is a renewable energy source that can be produced domestically. It is produced from
various plant materials such as corn, sugar cane and some types of grasses. Ethanol combustion
will produce less greenhouse gas production and there is little extra cost to make vehicles able to
run on high ethanol content fuel. While most of the gasoline used in the U.S. contains up to
15% ethanol, the more environmentally friendly E85 (or flex fuel) contains up to 83% ethanol.
Unfortunately, this type of fuel can be problematic. Ethanol has a lower energy content than
regular gasoline, which results in cars getting anywhere between 15 25% less miles per gallon
(MPG). Furthermore, although E85 is generally cheaper per gallon, the lower energy content
makes it slightly more expensive in terms of cost per mile. Finally, the fueling stations for E85
are generally located in the Midwest, which limits the widespread use of this type of energy
alternative. [4] Biodiesel is another possible alternative. It can be produced from vegetable oils,
animal fats, and recycled restaurant grease. Some of its advantages are that it is biodegradable, is
generally safer to handle and it produces significantly less carbon dioxide emissions (up to 15%
less). However, it too has problems. Similar to ethanol fuels, it has a lower energy content, which
results in lesser MPG for cars. Fuels that contain a high percentage of biodiesel are also not

Language, And How We Choose To Use Language To Communicate
Language, and how we choose to use language to communicate is taken for granted every day by
a substantial number of Americans. We do this because, we don t completely understand how
important language is. We take for granted how it s used to fit into society, influence others, or
even stand up for ourselves, and until we can put into perspective what it s like to have limited
access to it, we will continue to take part in this central way of thinking. The best way for a person
to truly value languageas a tool is by putting oneself in the shoes of a person visiting/ living in
America from another country with a limited common language. I came to this realization by
mistake. By making friends with people from different parts of the world I... Show more content on

it brings about more difficulty than just being the new person . Haotian on the other hand, was
in almost the same situation as Wendy. Haitian, much like Wendy, suffered from problems
associating with a desired group. Speaking in broken English, he recalled a time where he went
to TRAC and tried to enjoy playing basketball along with the rest of the students in the gym.
Because of his broken English and lack of knowledge of the culture around him, they saw him as

Mary Church Terrell Speech
What It Means to Be Colored in the Capital of the United States is a speech that was delivered to
a woman s club in 1906. The speech, delivered in Washington D.C, addressed prejudice and
humiliation the African Americans encounter in the capital city. The speeches author Mary
Church Terrell was born in 1863. Her parents were slaves, but she was born the year of the
emancipation of proclamation therefore she never was a slave herself. After getting married she
was forced to give up her job as a school teacher due to laws that prevented married women from

The Study and Findings of Climatology in Nepal Essay
The Study and Findings of Climatology in Nepal
In many areas in Nepal, the history of climatology only dates back to 1956. Around this time, the
Indian Meteorological Department instituted stations in various areas around the country, which
were eventually taken over by the Nepalese government in 1966. Having these stations in place has
given scientists significant insight into the Nepalese climate. However, some of the Indian
equipment remained in the Nepalese stations, and unfortunately many Indian findings vary
significantly from the Nepalese records of the same areas. Therefore, some information is
unreliable, coupled by the fact that not all stations have operated since the start of the program

Sox Key Main Aspects for a Regulatory Environment
Sarbanes Oxley Act was passed in 2002 by former president George Bush. Essentially to combat the
Enron crisis. The Sox Act basically has regulatory control and creates an enviroment that is looking
out for the public. Ideally this regulatory environment protects the public from fraud within
corporations. Understanding, that while having this regulatory control at times the Sox
requirements need to be tweaked or amended. Not only now but in the future as well. The main
aspects of the Sox act are essentially looking out for our welfare as a consumer. Our government

This is great for accountability within an organization.
Now the question would be for the future can the Sarbanes Oxley Act work? And what are the
ramifications in a long term projection? In some ways I feel this act could be sustainable in a long
term scope to keep companies and corporations in check. However I think this was created after the
Enron situation and purely done because of that. Our government instead of being proactive was
reactive and came up with this act for pure necessity and panic and public outcry. However even
if that s the case, this did at least set a framework and accountability for companies and
corporations. Going forward this has worked for at least 10 years or so, however it should ratified
to more current times and situations. Clayton Brite tends to agree with me; When looking back
upon the first ten years of the Sarbanes Oxley Act, one can only conclude that it has placed an
undue burden our public companies and stifled our economic growth. The Act s costs have greatly
outweighed its benefits and thus needs reformed. Its effects have been perhaps more pronounced by
the current financial crisis and the slow economic recovery. It is my opinion that lawmakers felt the
pressure to punish corporate Americans when they should have focused their attention on trying to
reduce information asymmetry. Sarbanes Oxley was written and passed within one month in 2002.

Ups On The United Parcel Service
The United Parcel Service delivers millions of packages every single day throughout the entire
world. UPS delivers packages to over 200 countries. It is by far one of the biggest delivery
companies in the world. Two teenagers started the company in 1907. By 1975, UPS was serving
48 countries in the United States. By the 1990s, UPS shifted towards a global footprint that has
worked tremendously. UPS has emerged in many different economies; however, UPS has not had
as much market scale, as they have wanted in India. In 2005 and 2008, they formed alliances with
Jet Air and AFL Private Ltd for betteraccess in India. However, UPS has used more resources in
other markets, like China and Malaysia. Therefore, competitors of UPS will begin to enter India
if UPS does not do something soon. Unfortunately, DHL, one of their competitors, bought an
Indian delivery company and it has been successful. As a result, UPS wants to enter the Indian
market with full force, but many questions will arise to join a market with over a billion people.
An external analysis that can be done on UPS is the PESTEL analysis. From a political
standpoint, UPS has to deal with labor unions. In 1997, they actually had a labor strike due to
pensions and pay. As a result, the company lost over 650 million dollars due to the strike. In order
to have a successful business, the workers have to be satisfied. Also, there are political
implications in doing business in India for the deliverycompanies because it

Comparison Of Enter With Out So Much As Knocking By Bruce...
Bruce Dawe was an Australian Poet born in Victoria, 1930 and is considered one of the most
influential Australian poets of all time. Two of his poems, Enter With Out So Much As
Knocking (EWOSMAK) and Drifters convey two different Australian voices and images but
are brought together through the idea of life as a cycle. EWOSMAK focuses on life s
frustrations and annoyances in modern Australian society and Drifters focuses on nature
echoing the status of a family who lived through the Great Depression, a time when families
would move often in seek of work and hopes of income. Bruce Dawe uses his poems to convey

Privatizing Urban Transportation Can Work With Timely...
The privatizing of urban transportation can work with timely public planning. A lot of the issues
to be considered are due to poor maintenance, slow expansion of streets, urban highways and
excessive congestion in many cities. Public and private partnerships can be used to improve the
timing of investments and ensure adequate maintenance of highways. Because of the lack of
funding and political red tape at both the local and federal levels, privatized funding can help
with the development of roadways, create jobs and complete the task at hand. Although
privatization terms and conditions of contracted developers of urban planning can create an
inflexed rate in the use of tolls for many road ways and highways it can reduce the congestion in
many cities. This paper will explore the how poor maintenance, slow expansion of streets and
urban highways and excessive congestion are chronic in many cities. The research will argue
claims that public private partnerships can be used to improve the timing of new investments,
ensure adequate maintenance of highways and streets and manage congestion with road user
charges. It will also elaborate on how this theory of public and private planning can only work with
timely public planning, deft contract design and enforcement and competent inter jurisdiction
coordination as well as show that Public/Private Partnerships (PPPs) do not relieve the public
budget of its financial obligation. The research will touch on how PPPs are preferred over

Nuclear Weapons And The World War II
Nuclear weapons were a crucial aspect throughout the history of the Cold War. Scientific and
military development in the early 20th Century had demonstrated the potential of atoms and other
properties to create large scale nuclear weapons. The developments of the arms race within the
context of World War I and World War II further led to the emergence of nuclear weapons for
combat. Countries such as the United States, USSR, and Britain also sought to create effective
nuclear weapons. Subsequently, the major application of nuclear weapons emerged when the US
dropped two atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Whereas President Truman mainly
sought to protect Americans from further deaths by launching atomic bombs in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, the USSR posed a different question. Did Truman consciously drop the bombs to
intimidate the USSR? Therefore, the Soviet Union interpreted the use of these nuclear weapons as
an anti Soviet move. This further set the basis of the Cold Warand the nuclear arms race between
the two countries. In this case, the United States use of nuclear weapons in the Second World War
was crucial to intimidate the USSR and its emerging global dominance to set the foundation for the
emergence of the Cold War.
The rapid surrender and destruction of Japan was a clear indication that the US had managed to
become a global leader in weapons development. However, there was also more reason to suspect
the real reasons for the use of nuclear weapons in

The Success Of A Recession
Warren Buffett, entrepreneur and investor once said, It s only when the tide goes out that you
discover who s been swimming naked. In order to know exactly what Mr. Buffett was talking
about when he said this line, you would have either had to be there or one day have the
opportunity to ask him yourself. However, in the context of comparing this quote to economics, or
perhaps banking, one could say that what he meant was that the choices that are made today might
not be judged until later down the road. For example, a recessionis not something that just happens
over night. In the event leading up to a recession, there are many factors and every recession is
unique in their own way. As for the great recession in 2008, the causes included subprime lending,
and greed amongst lenders and borrowers. Before jumping straight into the causes of the 2008
recession, first you must be informed of the history in previous recessions America has had to face.
Since the Great Depressionended in mid 1930 s, America has had to overcome around eleven
recessions. Now some might argue that not all recorded recessions were worthy of getting the tittle
as an official recession. Many will simply say it was slight hiccup in the economy because of the
short six to eight month duration of the smaller recessions. When divided over the years It seems
that the United Stateshas one to two recessions every decade. However, everyone of the short

Why Is Physician Assisted Suicide Wrong
Physician assisted suicide (PAS) has been debated for many years now. Is physician assisted
suicide right or is it wrong? Many people have very different views about this issue. Some
supporters feel that people should have the moral right to choose freely what they will do with
their lives as long as they do not harm others. This right of free choice includes the right to end one
s life when they choose. While you have some supporters who oppose any measures of permitting

The most powerful argument for physician assisted suicide is that it can relieve tremendous pain
and suffering of severely and terminally ill patients. Patients with advanced cancer or other diseases
that lead to a painful death that medical science is not yet able to treat effectively should be
offered the option of cutting short the pain that is inevitably tied to the end stages of their
disease. Because of their special expertise, physicians are best suited to assist a patient in ending
their life in a peaceful and pain free manner. As a society, failing to offer patients this choice
shows a lack of compassion and humanity. Along with saving terminally ill patients from pain,
physician assisted suicide should be legalized to allow patients with degenerative, progressive
illnesses the option of choosing death before it robs them of their mental and physical faculties.
Diseases such as Lou Gehrig s disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington s disease and Alzheimer s
disease lead to a slow, inevitable decline in function that medical science has been unable to treat
effectively. A person with one of these diseases may wish to choose death as a way to preserve
their dignity and in order to be remembered by their family and friends as they wish to be
remembered, rather than as a shell of their former selves. Former President Ronald Reagan
suffered from Alzheimer s disease. He was out of the public eye when he was in the last stages
of the disease. He was able to be remembered by the public as a strong and successful leader,
rather than as an Alzheimer s victim. Others should also have this right. After considering the
benefits to the patient of allowing physician assisted suicide, the benefits to the family and friends
of the dying person should also be considered. The suffering of a dying person s friends and

the coffee industry, consumer behavior of coffee drinkers, store atmosphere in retail coffee shops,
emotion driven choices of consumers, and lifestyle behavior of consumers in the coffee shop
culture. Past empirical studies show a strong relationship between store atmosphere and purchasing
behavior. in store marketing activity, total ambience and feel, in store promotions, all around music
and lighting of the store, all exhibit a strong influence on the buying behavior of the consumer, even
much stronger than the product offering itself. the results of this study indicate that consumers
exposed to different environments exhibit significant differences in their brand loyalty, promotion
sensitivity, price sensitivity and response to new brands. these differences in behavior are found to
be related to environmental attributes such as width of product offerings and promotional activity.
Elements such as lay out, lighting, color and music all serve as powerful marketing stimuli and
thus play a significant role in the purchasing behavior of consumers. Consumers who find a
particular in store environment to be more favorable and suitable to their tastes and preferences,
are more likely to stay loyal to the brand and receptive

Brazil boasts having a reputation of fabricating some of the world s most creative advertising
especially when it is entertaining which includes familiar venues like the United States but in
addition evening soap operas known as telenovelas and sporting events are popular and coveted
advertising space (O Barr, 2008). Since the average Brazilian tends to watch an average of five
hours of television per day, television comprises of 59% of the media mix and the Brazilians are
overtly loyal to their evening news and telenovelas so to center their time around those events

Costs and premiums vary depending on the product and strategy but there are three types of ad
agencies in Brazil which include multi national agencies that also service local accounts as well,
smaller home grown agencies that service primarily local clients and a small number of
extraordinary successful Brazilian agencies that grew up in the last two decades and enjoy
distinction as some of the world s most creative (O Barr, 2008). Personal selling is usually
preferred when there is an expensive higher end product that would be best sold on a one on one
personalized contact but is often costly to train the salesperson. According to Onkvisit and Shaw
(2009), personal selling is often taught in trade or vocational schools and is not seen as a
prestigious occupation and in Brazil, salespeople are not trained well in comparison to U.S.
standards. Door to door selling is allowed in Brazil like in the U.S but for it to be successful,
requires support in terms of training and information (Onkvisit and Shaw, 2009). It could be
considered as one of the more difficult methods of promotion as excellent communication and
persuasion skills are necessary. Sales promotions customarily used in Brazil include social media
groups twitting about latest sales as 63 millions Brazilians have access to

Adrian Peterson Injuries
Sprinting, hurdling and hitting, Adrian Peterson is one of the most aggressive runners ever. With
a style that embraces contact and punishment, and forbids running out of bounds, it comes with
its ups and downs. Peterson, one of the greatest runners ever, has had a fair share of injuries in
his career, but what would occur in the the 2012 season would shock sport fans across America.
Grinding through the season impressively, he would experience a career threatening moment that
truly tested his greatness. Leaving Peterson immobilized, a tear in his ACL and MCL in his left
knee took place in week ten of the 2011 2012 season. What would happen next season would make
people wonder if he was really human. Peterson s career, starting in 2007 as... Show more content

After having five immaculate seasons that if reproduced could get him into the hall of fame, he
now has to prove what he is really made of. At the time, AP promised he would be back for the
beginning of the 2012 season. Laughed at and considered impossible, many were skeptical, but
to their surprise it was not. Knee injuries at the time were considered the most detrimental to an
athlete, other than a serious head injury of course. Many incredible athletes never were the same
after experiencing similar cases. Not only did Peterson return to form, but he came back better
than ever. Rehabbing and training viciously, he would be the only hope for Minnesota s offense
considering they went 3 13 even though he played great. AP, shocking many, returned for week
one, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for eighty seven yards. This would be the start of one
of the greatest comebacks in sports history ever. Through all sixteen games, he averaged 131
yards per game, six yards per carry, and most impressive of all Peterson rushed for a total of
2097 yards. Second to only Eric Dickerson, Peterson was just eight measly yards shy of the
record. Other than individual stats, he carried his team on his shoulders to the playoffs with
historically one of the worse supporting casts surrounding him. Moreover, Peterson won the most
valuable player award applauding his personal accomplishment. Adrian s 2011 2012 season will go

Elizabeth s Presentation Of Mr. Wickham In Pride And...
left to deal with after she receives Mr. Darcy s letter that explains why he and Mr. Wickham
were not left on good terms. In this quote, Elizabeth realizes that her feelings towards Mr.
Wickham has prevented her from seeing what he was really like. This conflict exposes Mr.
Wickham for not being the kind man that everyone saw him as.It also reveals that Elizabeth s
prejudice towards Mr. Darcy kept her from seeing that there was another side to the story. Making
Mr. Darcy sound like the one at fault for all of Mr. Wickham s troubles. Elizabeth also realizes that
she may not be the best judgement of character that she once that herself as. She now knows that
she misjudged Mr. Darcy and that he s had nothing but good intentions. This is a common... Show

All of the characters have similar traits that are towards the theme pride or prejudice and many
have more aspects than others but either way their attributes cannot be ignored. Elizabeth and Jane
Bennet for example, show plenty of their similarities with their prideful actions, but it is Elizabeth
who is being portrayed as the more prejudice one. This shows how she thinks of Mr. Darcy in the
beginning of the novel. At the ball, Mr.Darcy was being unexplainably rude towards dancing with
the woman there, preferably Elizabeth herself. [...] of this she was perfectly unaware; to her he
was only the man who made himself agreeable nowhere; and who had not thought her handsome
enough to dance with. (Austen 18). As for Mr.Darcy he seems to have a preconception with
every word that comes out of his mouth. Even when he confesses his love to Elizabeth he tells
her he did not want to confess his love because he was to good for her. In vain I have struggled.
It will not do. My feeling will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I
admire you and love you. (Austen 227). He tells her something he wishes to keep secret, but she
listens to what Mr.Darcy has to say

Fight Or Flight Theory
There are three different theories that are used when talking about how we react to stress through
the physiological aspect or the psychological aspect. The first is part of the physiological aspect
of stress called the Cannon Fight or Flight theory which was proposed in 1914. Fight or Flight
response is a physiological stressresponse that evolved to help organisms to survive immediate
danger. The theory states that when an organism, human being or animal, faces imminent danger
(acute stressor) the body arouses quickly and is ready to act via two different systems. They are the
sympathetic nervous systemand the endocrine system. The sympathetic nervous system stimulates
the adrenal medullawhich is part of the endocrine system and is the region that produces the
hormones such as adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones increase heart rate, blood flow,
and glucose levels to prepare the body for an emergency. This response from the body suggests that
the body knows how to protect itself and reach homeostasis. These two systems work together to
either fight against the danger or flight away from the danger. Lord, King and Pfister in 1976
studied the Fight or Flight response in animals through a very unethical study. They administered
chemicals on male hooded Wistar rats which inhibited the neurotransmitters from functioning
normally. This made it very difficult for the rats to escape an electric shock. The results of the study
suggest that the Flight or Fight response

able to see anything physical presented to them. According to Mandal, MD (2013) It is a state
where a visually impaired person s eyesight cannot be corrected back to a normal level . Visual

  • 2. Hydrogen Batteries And Fuel Cells Introduction Batteries/Fuel Cells Fuel cells operate via a chemical reaction which generates electricity. All fuel cells contain a positive anode, a negative cathode and an electrolyte to carry the charged particles through the cell. They also contain a catalyst which will increase the rate of the reaction occurring. The electricity produced can then used to power various appliances. This, in turn, creates a circuit with the current continually flowing in and out of the cell until the reaction ceases . Recently the development metal air batteries (which can be produced from a range of metals from Aluminium to Zinc Primary and Secondary Batteries) have become very important. This coupled with the fact that there is no shortage of Magnesium on the planet means that the resources, although finite, are unlikely to run out and so Magnesium is an ideal material to use. Also the properties of the metal, such as reactivity, toxicity etc are ideal for this applicationi. Materials Involved in the production of Magnesium Air Batteries Anode As mentioned previously the anode is composed of Magnesium metal (atomic weight 24.312 ) and is oxidised to produce electrons. The reason this metal is used because it is lightweight, cheap and has a high standard potential. These fuel cells are also generally very durable and can be easily stored. Easy storage is made possible by the fact that a protective film is naturally produced over the positive anode. However this decreases once some of the energy has been released from the cell. Hence it is not ideal to be used in a situation where over a long period of time there are times when the cell is not being used. This is part of the reason why lithium batteries are ... • 5. Selecting The Appropriate Research Methods 3. Methodology When selecting the appropriate research methods, it was important for me to carefully consider the approaches that would best fit my research in order to reach meaningful conclusions. I decided to choose approaches that I see fit around my research topic and would ensure I achieve the results to come out of my research. As (Walker, 1985, p.46) advocates that Just as recipes are not simply things that are done to food, but become concepts within which method and substance are compounded. Methods in research can become an intrinsic part of the project. The methods we choose are, in this sense, there to be tested, just as much as the substantive hypothesis . This claims that the methods that are chosen to embark on an area of research are a vital part of the project and need to be taken into account just as much as the question that the methods are used to answer it. Therefore, the two approaches I chose to shape my research were a case studyand appreciative inquiry to allow me to collect the data I had selected which was the following; questionnaires, interviews and observations. 3.1 Case Study I have chosen to approach my research by using a case study approach which builds up a rich picture of a case using different kinds of data collection and gathering the views, perceptions and ideas of diverse individuals relating to the case. In it, Allende uses the laborious background and strong personality of her protagonist, Belisa Crepusculario, to highlight that a female can be empowered in a patriarchal society by developing her personality and linguistic charms. Belisa is brave, determined, tough and well educated and stands in opposition to the figure of the submissive, effeminate, and innocent traditional woman. In the first location of the story, Allende demonstrates that Belisa has a strong sense of survival that she had developed through the hardships in her childhood, which ultimately guide her through life threatening situations, such as hydropenia and being kidnapped. I grew up in a 4 bedroom home in a town by the name of Williston Park. My home is a two story colonial with a large front and back yard. The lush green grass and the variety of plants in the front yard make it aesthetically pleasing. The white siding of the home make it really hard to keep clean. The four windows in the front of the home make it look as if the house is smiling when you go towards it. Most of the homes in my neighborhood are similar in size and basic structure. Many of these homes are occupied by older white couples. Although my town isn t as diverse as the neighboring towns I love my neighborhood. Some of my favorite things to do are having casual conversations with my older neighbor John; going to the many baseball or football fields to play with my friends; go to Roosevelt Field Mall, or go to one of the many restaurants we have, or finally go to a place called Bounce, which is an indoor trampoline park. One of the greatest parts about my neighborhood is the sense of community and how we are able to set our differences aside when people we care about are in need. Saints Row is an example of this development in video games, criticizing the gangster crime genre made notorious by Grand Theft Auto. This development in the genre is an example of a genre referring back to itself and poking holes in some of its conventions, a key element of a maturing medium. Traditionally art has been produced by a single artist, a major criticism of the notion that video games, a collaborative effort of a team, could be considered an art form. BioMEMS devices are manufactured using similar microfabrication techniques as those used in semiconductor processing (such as photolithography, thin film deposition and etching ) to produce the desired configuration of features, including traces (thin metal wires), vias (interlayer connections), reservoirs, valves, and membranes. The interest in BioMEMS is growing rapidly, with opportunities in areas such as biosensors, pacemakers, immunoisolation capsules, and drug delivery [31]. Microcantilever is one of the most widely studied bioMEMS in the area of biosensors. It converts surface based biochemical interactions into mechanical signals. In particular, when biomolecules immobilized on the cantilever surface undergo intermolecular reactions, such as antibody antigen interaction [32], hybridization of DNA interaction [33], receptor ligand [34]; their conformational change causes a change in the surface stress on the cantilever due to reduction decrease in free energy. The deflection of the cantilever induced by the surface stress change provides a direct measure of the biomolecular interaction. For instance, the steady state cantilever deflection can indicate the fraction of immobilized biomolecules that have bound to free analytes in solution, while the time to reach steady state reflects the rate constant of the specific binding [35]. If they come up with a plan to produce more food, no matter how harmful it may be to the consumer, the government will not step in to protect the citizen of Americans. As the bourgeoisie owns the industry, this fact has been proven within the video of Food Inc. What is astonishing is that a company was actually able to get a patent on life. How can a company be allowed to monopolize an entire industry? That is depriving people of their basic human right of life, to eat healthy food, food that has not been modified by harmful hormones or genetics. Several of the food production companies give jobs to illegal immigrants and once their services are no longer needed, then the heads of these companies call immigration to have them arrested and deported back to their home country. While most of the gasoline used in the U.S. contains up to 15% ethanol, the more environmentally friendly E85 (or flex fuel) contains up to 83% ethanol. Unfortunately, this type of fuel can be problematic. Ethanol has a lower energy content than regular gasoline, which results in cars getting anywhere between 15 25% less miles per gallon (MPG). We take for granted how it s used to fit into society, influence others, or even stand up for ourselves, and until we can put into perspective what it s like to have limited access to it, we will continue to take part in this central way of thinking. The best way for a person to truly value languageas a tool is by putting oneself in the shoes of a person visiting/ living in America from another country with a limited common language. Speaking in broken English, he recalled a time where he went to TRAC and tried to enjoy playing basketball along with the rest of the students in the gym. Around this time, the Indian Meteorological Department instituted stations in various areas around the country, which were eventually taken over by the Nepalese government in 1966. Having these stations in place has given scientists significant insight into the Nepalese climate. However, some of the Indian equipment remained in the Nepalese stations, and unfortunately many Indian findings vary significantly from the Nepalese records of the same areas. In some ways I feel this act could be sustainable in a long term scope to keep companies and corporations in check. However I think this was created after the Enron situation and purely done because of that. Our government instead of being proactive was reactive and came up with this act for pure necessity and panic and public outcry. However even if that s the case, this did at least set a framework and accountability for companies and corporations. Going forward this has worked for at least 10 years or so, however it should ratified to more current times and situations. Clayton Brite tends to agree with me; When looking back upon the first ten years of the Sarbanes Oxley Act, one can only conclude that it has placed an undue burden our public companies and stifled our economic growth. The Act s costs have greatly outweighed its benefits and thus needs reformed. Its effects have been perhaps more pronounced by the current financial crisis and the slow economic recovery. Two of his poems, Enter With Out So Much As Knocking (EWOSMAK) and Drifters convey two different Australian voices and images but are brought together through the idea of life as a cycle. EWOSMAK focuses on life s frustrations and annoyances in modern Australian society and Drifters focuses on nature echoing the status of a family who lived through the Great Depression, a time when families would move often in seek of work and hopes of income. Bruce Dawe uses his poems to convey his own Australian identity and how he relates to the society of 1950 60s Australia. A lot of the issues to be considered are due to poor maintenance, slow expansion of streets, urban highways and excessive congestion in many cities. Public and private partnerships can be used to improve the timing of investments and ensure adequate maintenance of highways. Because of the lack of funding and political red tape at both the local and federal levels, privatized funding can help with the development of roadways, create jobs and complete the task at hand. Scientific and military development in the early 20th Century had demonstrated the potential of atoms and other properties to create large scale nuclear weapons. The developments of the arms race within the context of World War I and World War II further led to the emergence of nuclear weapons for combat. Countries such as the United States, USSR, and Britain also sought to create effective nuclear weapons. Subsequently, the major application of nuclear weapons emerged when the US dropped two atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Whereas President Truman mainly sought to protect Americans from further deaths by launching atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the USSR posed a different question. Did Truman consciously drop the bombs to intimidate the USSR? Therefore, the Soviet Union interpreted the use of these nuclear weapons as an anti Soviet move. This further set the basis of the Cold Warand the nuclear arms race between the two countries. In this case, the United States use of nuclear weapons in the Second World War was crucial to intimidate the USSR and its emerging global dominance to set the foundation for the emergence of the Cold War. The rapid surrender and destruction of Japan was a clear indication that the US had managed to become a global leader in weapons development. In order to know exactly what Mr. Buffett was talking about when he said this line, you would have either had to be there or one day have the opportunity to ask him yourself. However, in the context of comparing this quote to economics, or perhaps banking, one could say that what he meant was that the choices that are made today might not be judged until later down the road. For example, a recessionis not something that just happens over night. In the event leading up to a recession, there are many factors and every recession is unique in their own way. As for the great recession in 2008, the causes included subprime lending, and greed amongst lenders and borrowers. Since the Great Depressionended in mid 1930 s, America has had to overcome around eleven recessions. Patients with advanced cancer or other diseases that lead to a painful death that medical science is not yet able to treat effectively should be offered the option of cutting short the pain that is inevitably tied to the end stages of their disease. Because of their special expertise, physicians are best suited to assist a patient in ending their life in a peaceful and pain free manner. As a society, failing to offer patients this choice shows a lack of compassion and humanity. Along with saving terminally ill patients from pain, physician assisted suicide should be legalized to allow patients with degenerative, progressive illnesses the option of choosing death before it robs them of their mental and physical faculties. Diseases such as Lou Gehrig s disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington s disease and Alzheimer s disease lead to a slow, inevitable decline in function that medical science has been unable to treat effectively. As for Mr.Darcy he seems to have a preconception with every word that comes out of his mouth. • 45. Fight Or Flight Theory There are three different theories that are used when talking about how we react to stress through the physiological aspect or the psychological aspect. The first is part of the physiological aspect of stress called the Cannon Fight or Flight theory which was proposed in 1914. Fight or Flight response is a physiological stressresponse that evolved to help organisms to survive immediate danger. The theory states that when an organism, human being or animal, faces imminent danger (acute stressor) the body arouses quickly and is ready to act via two different systems. They are the sympathetic nervous systemand the endocrine system. The sympathetic nervous system stimulates the adrenal medullawhich is part of the endocrine system and is the region that produces the hormones such as adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones increase heart rate, blood flow, and glucose levels to prepare the body for an emergency. This response from the body suggests that the body knows how to protect itself and reach homeostasis. These two systems work together to either fight against the danger or flight away from the danger. Lord, King and Pfister in 1976 studied the Fight or Flight response in animals through a very unethical study. They administered chemicals on male hooded Wistar rats which inhibited the neurotransmitters from functioning normally. This made it very difficult for the rats to escape an electric shock. The results of the study suggest that the Flight or Fight response ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
