Before And After By Andy Warhol
Before and After
Andy Warhol Doubtlessly, Marilyn Diptych by Andy Warhol is the symbol of Pop Art movement for
me; however, I like to express my reaction to Before and After, 1961, by Andy Warhol. The foremost
reason for choosing this piece is I just saw it and my reaction is so fresh! Reading about Andy Warhol
and his early stages as an iconic pop artist, Before and After attracts my attention, a black and white
big size piece which shows a profile of a woman before and after a nose plastic surgery. Arthur C.
Danto believes Andy Warhol is a person who can make an art piece out of nothing. Before Warhol,
Before and After would have been a piece of boilerplate commercial art, whose maker would be long
forgotten. (Dante, 2) I agree

Travel Agency Management
Could the tide be changing? Travel agencies play an important role within the UK travel and tourism
industry. They are the retail arm of the industry, selling a wide range of holiday products and travel
services to the public. Yet travel industry analysts have been predicting the death of the high street
travel agent due to the ever changing nature of distribution channels. Travel agents are the key
intermediaries in the distribution chain whose main role is selling air, rail, sea and land based services.
They do this on behalf of their suppliers or principals. They also may offer additional travel related
services such as insurance and foreign exchange . Throughout the history of the travel agent is has

Integration means formal linking arrangements between one organisation and another. Vertical
integration occurs along the production process, for example, when an airline establishes its own tour
operating company. This type of integration is forwards into the marketplace, and the most popular
example is when a tour wholesaler acquires a retail travel chain through merger or purchase. Another
way is backwards and this is most commonly seen when tour operators own airlines, and when
scheduled airlines form alliances with multinational hotel chains and surface transport companies to
secure trading advantages over their rivals. The benefits of forming vertical links include cutting out
the middle man by being able to control costs and quality standards...securing supplies and increasing
buying power, and protecting market position by guaranteeing retail outlets on prime high street sites.
(Fyall and Wanhill, 2007) Other ways of controlling the market is by franchising, which is a licensing
agreement whereby the parent company grants another firm the right to sell its products and use its
brand name, but in return the firm should not sell the products of its competitors. And through mutual
shareholding arrangements and a system of tied agency licensing, which gives them exclusive outlets
for their products and protects their profits. Second type of integration is called horizontal integration,
which occurs when two tour operators or two travel agents integrate,

The Effects Of Media On Body Dissatisfaction Of Young...
The media is an important aspect of the current society and is ever present to the public. With the
creation of new technology, there are more and more ways the media can be received and displayed
for people to see everywhere they go. There are so many media sights nowadays such as Instagram,
Twitter, and Facebook, as well as new magazines, commercials and other media publications made
every day that allow people to connect to current events and new trends. Although today s media has
the potential to have a positive or negative impact on the lives of the people, there have been many
controversial debates on the impact of the media on the body dissatisfaction of young girls and
adolescents. Body dissatisfaction can be described as the negative self evaluation of one s own
appearance and to be more physically attractive, and is fairly common in young girls and adolescents.
Approximately one hundred studies of media effects on body dissatisfaction have been conducted with
the majority of these showing at least some evidence, (Ferguson, Munoz, Contreras, Velasquez). Many
psychological experts and specialists have explored the effect of the media on developing female girls
and adolescent body image to conclude whether it has a significant or insignificant impact on the body
image of female adolescents and young girls. In the current media, women are idealized as skinny,
airbrushed, and flawless. The media has been harshly criticized for creating and perpetuating a cultural

Rhetorical Analysis Of King Agamemnon
In the midst of the Trojan war, King Agamemnon is distraught after his loss of Chryseis. As a form of
compensation, Agamemnon demands that Achilles forfeit his war prize: Briseis, princess of Lyrnessus.
Unhappy with this course of action, Achilles withdraws from the war. Generals, trusted advisors,
soldiers, and healers under King Agamemnon s rule deliver deliberate speeches and debate as to if and
why Agamemnon should keep or return Briseis to Achilles for his return. Speaker 1, who spoke in
favor of Agamemnon keeping Briseis, incorporates all three rhetorical appeals and adopts a
commanding tone of voice in order to persuade the soldiers to continue battling despite the loss of
Achilles. In contrast, Speaker 14, who was opposed to Agamemnon keeping Briseis, explores pathos
and demonstrates the effectiveness of repetition while directly addressing Agamemnon.
To begin with, in pursuance of persuading her audience of soldiers to allow King Agamemnon to keep
his stolen war prize Briseis, Speaker 1 capitalizes on the three rhetorical appeals: logos, pathos, and
ethos. The most effective appeal for her, given her audience, was ethos. First, she had to establish
herself as a credible source for the sake of convincing the soldiers why her reasoning was valid. Who
better to speak about the King then his trusted advisor, who not only worked with him throughout his
ruling, but who also worked with his father before him and watched him grow up to be the man he is
today. With the audience of soldiers in mind, they are more likely to listen to the reasoning of a person
in power, who has proven themselves to be knowledgeable and can testify on behalf of a person, both
personally and professionally. Soldiers are trained to follow the commands of someone in charge and
if the trusted advisor says that they are capable of allowing the King to keep Briseis and in turn
continue to fight the war and win without Achilles, then it can be done. Using ethos gives the speaker
a platform to be heard from. Similarly, the speaker s commanding tone of voice helped to deliver an
effective speech. It would have been futile to have established herself as this person with great power
had her deliverance not matched the substance of the

Celebrities Affence And Society s Influence On Society
People go through countless measures such as dieting pills, eating too little, or working out too much
to make their body shapes resemble the ones pictured on the cover of magazines or Instagram posts.
Kylie Jenner, famous teen beauty influencer, has several pictures of her online slyly eating a gummy
bear by the brand name Sugar Bear Hair, which endorses long and thick beautiful hair. People across
the world see this and they want to look and be like them, and so people buy these products or go
through workouts and procedures to look the way people deem is socially acceptable. What celebrities
do greatly influences younger generations. A factor with celebrity endorsements is that the celebrities
do not have to be fans of what they endorse, they are earning thousands of dollars for taking a picture
with the products that they are endorsing. They are also paid thousands of dollars to tweet
preconstructed, public relations made, 140 or less character tweets on twitter. Celebrities that send this
out, either a tweet or photograph, are instantly seen by millions of people across the world. Celebrities
have trillions of followers on social media; one could only imagine the impact that these people have
on society. For people s favorite celebrities, there are little notification buttons that can be turned on so
that a person is instantly notified what their favorite influencer is doing. Celebrities influence what

Essay on The Mental Health of Individuals in the LGBT...
The mental health of individuals in the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) community is
something that is a serious problem. For most of the history of the United States and many different
parts of the world LGBT people faced much persecution and in some cases even death. This constant
fear of discovery and the pressure that one feels on oneself when in the closet can lead to major mental
distress. Research has shown that people who identify as LGBT are twice as likely to develop lifetime
mood and anxiety disorders (Bostwick 468). This is extremely noticeable the past couple years in the
suicides of bullied teens on the basis of sexual identity and expression. The stigma on simply being
perceived as LGBT is strong enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also worth noting that research into the mental health of the LGBT community is lacking (then
and now) and that discrimination is legal in many cases (Luckstead 3). Some of the ways that
discrimination is legal would be the banning of marriage rights in some states, the absence of sexuality
and sexual expression in the working on discrimination clauses around the nation, the ability for a
person to be fires or evicted simply because they are LGBT. All of these things can cause stress in the
life of members of the LGBT community and in te cause of stress you find causes and additives to
mental distress and illness. One could surmise that with the turning tide on the issue of gay rights in
the US that the mental health risk here is not work looking into. This would be incorrect and the
suicides of LGBT youth in the past couple years confirms this. The causes of these mental illnesses
can be attributed heavily to discrimination on almost all fronts. The impact of institutional
discrimination, that is discrimination that is passed through laws or amendments in a state or federal
level, has been shown. It had been shown that the prevalence of mental illness is higher in states that
do not provide protection from discrimination such as in the work place and in marriage (the bans of

Weathering and Erosion
bub
Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a given time and place, with respect to variables such as
temperature, moisture, wind velocity, and barometric pressure. Weather can be classified as day to day
temperature and precipitation activity, where climiate is average atmospheric conditions over longer
periods of time. Weather occurs from temperature and moisture differences between one place and
another. These differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot. The strong
temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather systems in the
mid latitudes, such as extratropical cyclones , are caused by instabilities of the jet stream flow.
Because the Earth s axis is tilted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Higher altitudes are cooler than lower altitudes, which is explained by the lapse rate. On local scales,
temperature differences can occur because different surfaces (such as oceans, forests, ice sheets, or
man made objects) have differing physical characteristics such as reflectivity, roughness, or moisture
content.
Surface temperature differences in turn cause pressure differences. A hot surface heats the air above it
and the air expands, lowering the air pressure and its density. The resulting horizontal pressure
gradient accelerates the air from high to low pressure, creating wind, and Earth s rotation then causes
curvature of the flow via the Coriolis effect. The simple systems thus formed can then display
emergent behaviour to produce more complex systems and thus other weather phenomena. Large scale
examples include the Hadley cell while a smaller scale example would be coastal breezes.
The atmosphere is a chaotic system, so small changes to one part of the system can grow to have large
effects on the system as a whole. This makes it difficult to accurately predict weather more than a few
days in advance, though weather forecasters are continually working to extend this limit through the
scientific study of weather, meteorology. It is theoretically impossible to make useful day to day
predictions more than about two weeks ahead, imposing an upper limit to potential for improved
prediction skill.

Essay On Scientific Method
The Usefulness of the Scientific Method The development of the scientific method in the late 1500 s
to the early 1600 s was a crucial stepping stone in the science community. The scientific method is
based upon observations, hypotheses and experimentation. The concept is rather simple, and can be
applied to many areas of study. Once an observation is made, the observer can make a hypothesis as to
why that phenomenon occurs and can then design an experiment to prove whether or not that
hypotheses is valid. Although the scientific method has been extremely useful in the discovery of
various things from usages of medications to studying animal behavior, there are still those who
question the usage of this tool. These critics claim that since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are several disease that are we still do not know much about despite copious amounts of
research. Cancer and Alzheimer s are two major examples of these mysterious diseases. Although the
scientific method is useful in the development and research on various medications and treatments,
there are still limitations. Patients react to treatments in various ways, because bodies and systems
vary from person to person. There is simply too many variable to be able to pinpoint the exact reaction
a patient may have. Clinical trials and studies can narrow down these reactions down to a list of
possible side effects, but doctors can never know for sure how a patient will respond. There are many
unknowns and treating actual patients is much different that conducting an experiment investigating
how two medications will effect an experimental unit. During a designed experiment, the
experimenter can control all the variables except for the experimental variable and get clear
straightforward results. On the other hand, when treating a real patient with a severe illness, such as
cancer, the physician has to keep an eye on all body systems. They cannot simple give all of their
attention to the area of the body that is currently affected. In these practical settings, there is simply
too many variables for the scientific method to be as useful as it normally

U.S. citizens (Zdravecky Hass, 2014). The law does not expressly detail terms who is considered an

Employment opportunities are chief reason illegal aliens come into the United States. NLBA gave
balance of protection to undocumented workers the same as U.S. citizens. Since back pay or
reinstatement is not a remedy the NLRB to correct violations, this gives employers an incentive to
violate the IRCA. The purpose of the Immigration Reform and Control Act is to make it a violation of
the law to hire an employee not authorized to work in the United States. However enforcement of this
law until recent years has not been robust. The court system or congress will need to fix these
loopholes in the current laws to close these gaps. The way the law is created at this time gives an
unfair advantage to employers who want to ignore current immigration laws. Undocumented workers
can be paid lower wages and place in unsafe working conditions without any way to find remedy for
those violations under the current law. The current law does not allow for undocumented immigrant
protection from discrimination and labor relations violations. It is an economic disadvantage for
employers to follow current immigration laws (Layne, 2011). Once the legally immigration laws are
addressed and the conflicts, there is balance based on continued employment of undocumented
workers versus legal citizens. Many times once undocumented immigrants are unemployed, they will
migrate to another location to seek employment. Since employment opportunities and avoiding

How Did Newton s Laws Change Beliefs About Force And Motion
Beliefs about force and motion before Newton s Laws were very different than beliefs after them. One
belief, which was from Galileo, resolved that any two things that fall together, fall at the same time,
even if they are as heavy as an elephant. Another belief was from Rene Descartes. It stated that a ball
traveling, which is uninterrupted, will keep going in a straight line. Beliefs before Newton s Laws
were exceedingly different than what they are now. Newton s Laws of Motion changed beliefs about
force and motion drastically forever. The first law of motion states that an object at rest stays at rest
(Newton/Slideshow). This law is also called the Law of Inertia. Inertia is an object s intransigence to
changes with/in, which is why the first law is called this name. Newton s Laws have drastically
changed beliefs about force and motion forever. Newton s Second Law is about momentum, mass, and
acceleration. It states, When a net force acts on an object, it produces a change in the momentum of
the object in the direction in which the force acts (Newton/Slideshow). Normally, mass stays the same,
so Fnet equals mass times acceleration. Also, An object accelerates when the sum of all forces acting

Education Is The Implementation Of A Standard Curriculum
Introduction One of the most significant and prevalent changes seen in education is the
implementation of a standard curriculum. Prior to this effort there were many ineffective practices that
occurred within the nation s schools. According to Girod, G.R., Girod, M (n.d.), there was a time that
students were measured on such things as a spelling test. If you spelled a certain number of words
correctly you were considered a good speller, but did that mean you actually understood the context of
the word or was it just memorization? Although there is much debate as to whether or not standard
curriculum is fair to all students given different learning styles and aptitudes, in this paper I will go
over the some of the important factors and benefits in implementing a standard curriculum. I will also
go over how one district in Tempe does exactly this. The Importance of Curriculum at the District
Level District frameworks are those that are developed at a local or regional district level. If possible a
curriculum committee will be established at the local level to help address the issues coming from a
higher level, according to Berkas, N., Pattison, C. (2000). The benefit of such district level leadership
is that it coordinates and aligns the curriculum and assessment to ensure alignment with the state and
district standards. A further benefit is that teachers are trained and prepared to meet the higher
expectations of the state and district and to deliver a shared

The Watchmans style of policing stain purpose is to keep people from getting into disputes, by
keeping the peace. This style of policing focuses mainly on the the people who violate the rules of the
law. This style of policing is also a more strict form of law enforcement of the criminal law. These
watchmen belong to what is called a watchmen department. Their focus is solely on resolving
problems or arguments, but not always being able to prevent all disputes. This particular department s
goal is to try and keep the peace among citizens and to maintain order as much as possible. And
sometimes there are problems when using this method. Officers need to be careful with how they use

though these officers have had training, sometimes the police have trouble dealing with the problem
properly or have trouble in what their response should be. This can cause a huge problem if the threat
cannot be neutralized and may cause an even bigger threat.
The Legalistic style of policing officers use paramilitary to help with enforcement. This department
uses formal methods rather than informal methods. In this department, officers are expected to make a
lot of arrests and write a lot of citations. These officers initiate more contact with the public than those

Colorado Water Shortage Essay
Colorado s Water Shortage; a Localized Problem with a National Salience
The Issue at Hand
The State of Colorado has suffered from a water shortage in recent years; a difficult situation which is
easily visible when viewing the quickly shortening length of the Colorado River. Lake Mead, for
example, is roughly 130 feet lower than it once was, marked by the stained rock which towers above
the current water level. The river has become a perfect symbol of what happens when we ask too
much of a limited resource: it disappears. In fact, the Colorado no longer regularly reaches the sea
(Zielinski, 2010). Legislation was implemented early on to address this issue, though the results were
(perhaps not surprisingly) rather unanticipated, regarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The upper basin states (including Colorado) were allocated a much greater percentage of the water
than the lower basin states, while the upper basin states were developing at a much slower rate than
those in the lower basin, notably California. Nevada (as of 1997) anticipated being unable to rely just
on this water by 2015, while in 1997 California was already exceeding its originally allocated supply
by diverting unused water from the upper basin states (Arizona.edu, 1997). It goes without saying that
this legislation from the early twentieth century is not going to be sufficient in coming years as the
development of these regions has progressed at a much faster rate than originally anticipated, and it is
the responsibility of state and federal governments, water management companies, as well as appeals
from farmers and non farming residents alike to come to an agreement on how to apportion water and
how to implement secondary hydration plans due to the rapidly declining resource that the once
magnificent Colorado River was able to supply us

Hybridity in Arudhati Roy s the God of Small Things
Hybridity in Arudhati Roy s The God of Small Things Postcolonialism deals with the effects of
colonization on cultures and societies. As originally used by historians after the Second World War in
terms such as the post colonial state, post colonial had a clearly chronological meaning, designating
the post independence period. However, from the late 1970s the term has been used by literary critics
to discuss the various cultural effects of colonization. The term has been widely used to signfy the
political, linguistic and cultural experience of societies that were former European colonies. In the
present age we can say without any shadow of doubt that post colonialism has been primarily
concerned to examine the processes and effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a story about the childhood experiences of a pair of fraternal twins who become victims of
circumstance. The book is a description of how the small things in life build up, translate into people s
behavior and affect their lives. The story is set in the small town of Ayemenem in the Kerala province,
southwest India. The main part of the plot takes place in 1969, a time when the caste system in India
was still very strongly imbedded. It is also the time of increased awareness around the world and a
peak of communist ideology and influence. India is a very complex society with various cultural and
religious habits and beliefs. Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and Muslims share the same space. Society
is divided not only by the very strict caste system but also by class consciousness. There are a number
of languages spoken in India, but the higher classes make a point of speaking English, sending their
sons to study in England and adopting certain English habits.Kerala, where the story is set itself has a
complex social setup with Hindus, Muslims and Christians having lifestyle and traditions different
from each other. It also has a considerably larger number of Christian population compared to other
parts of India, predominantly Saint Thomas Christians. The God of Small Things is a book about
India, not India as seen by the western world or by western standards. This is a story about the real
India, beautifully written by one of its own nationals.

romeo and Juliet metaphor essay
Jennavieve Sullens
Honors English
1/16/14
Romeo and Juliet, two lovers are faced with a grave problem when falling in love was inevitable;
however, both sides of their families are participants in an ancient feud against one another, but even
their own blood wont come between the passionate love that they share. For Romeo and Juliet many
choices were made for them, but the madness that drove them to be together would eventually take
their lives. The playwright Shakespeare utilizes metaphors in Romeo and Juliet to help us better
understand the emotionally charged and complex relationship dynamics amongst the main
protagonists. Metaphors are a useful literary device that help enhance the readers interpretation of the

Torches never being used in the day, tells us that she stands out amongst the darkness; all in all, the
darkness being figuratively compared to all other women, and Romeo only sees her. Shes the jewel
that stands out against the dark Ethiop s skin, drawing the attention of all who would behold her. She
is simply to be admired and not tarnished by use. Juliet is too fine for the earth, belonging in the
heavens amongst the angels. Going anywhere besides earth would either be heaven or hell, in this case
Romeo sees Juliet as a prized possession; furthermore, she belongs in the heavens with angels that are
as great as she. Juliet is one of the heavenly bodies incarnate upon the earth, here only to be loved by
Romeo. This helps us comprehend the unconditional love that Romeo feels for Juliet.
Metaphors are a useful literary device that help enhance the readers interpretation of the author s
intent and they provide clarity to the context. With such intricate metaphors used throughout all of
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet it benefits the reader with constant evidence of the unique and
extravagant love that the two main characters

Essay about An Analysis of Komanuyakaa Facing It
An Analysis of Facing It
Yusef Komanuyakaa s poem Facing It is a brutal examination of the affects that war leaves upon men.
The reader can assume that Komanuyakaa drew upon his own experiences in Vietnam, thereby
making the poem a personal statement. However, the poem is also a universal and real description of
the pain that comes about for a soldier when remembering the horror of war. He creates the poem s
persona by using flashbacks to the war, thereby informing the reader as to why the speaker is behaving
and feeling the way he is. The thirty one lines that make up Facing It journey back and forth between
present and past to tell the story of one man s life.
The informal language and intimacy of the poem are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, it may suggest the face paint soldiers wear so they can blend in with their surroundings. The
next few lines span a range of emotions which include: anger, sadness expressed through tears, and the
persona s resolve not to cry. He even curses himself for beginning to cry, an action that can be
considered un masculine for a man.
As he stares at the names on the wall, he catches a glimpse of himself in the black granite and
suddenly feels like a bird of prey (502). The use of the word prey signifies to the reader that the
speaker feels like an animal being hunted by the enemy (502). He then describes his motions of
twisting and turning. When he says that he turns and finds himself inside the Memorial Wall; perhaps,
he is going back in his memory to his days in Vietnam. It may mean that a piece of him died in
Vietnam, and that is what he finds when he looks into the wall.
Line fourteen in the poem begins the persona s progression back into the past. As he reads the names
of the nearly 60,000 men who died, the speaker is surprised that his name is not on there. When he
touches the name Andrew Johnson in line seventeen, he completes the transition into the past (502).
He recounts a booby trap and the white flash of the explosion. The woman mentioned in line nineteen
is possibly a nurse, and the names he sees could be the names of all the injured she has treated. The
names only shimmer when the nurse is present, but when she leaves they

Comparing Ancient Greece And Classical Greece
The Comparison between Early Greece Culture and Classical Greece Culture Early Greece and
Classical Greece both occurred at the same age, which is Ancient Greece. They might have happened
in the same time frame, but they are both uniquely different. Their cultures might have the same roots,
but each had its own differences, while also sharing things in common. Art in Early Greece was more
delicate and refined in the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. But before 1000 B.C. northern tribes
like the Dorians invaded these cultures, which made the art forms in these areas decline heavily. But,
when things were turning for the worst, art began anew, with a transformation from the curved lines in
the Mycenaean age to geometric linear lines. Studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
with the invasion of the Persians, and the defense lead by Athens and Sparta. The Persians in total had
as many as two hundred thousand citizens in their army. The Persian king sent an army across the
Aegean Sea to invade Athens at Marathon. Athens eventually prevailed, but the Persians did not give
up. After a new Persian king arises, he sends an army of sixty thousand Persians to attack
Thermopylae, where they were met with only 5,000 Greeks. Sparta sent an army of 1,000 of its most
powerful, dedicated, and blood hungry elites to hold the pass of that mountain, so that the rest of
Greece could prepare its defenses for whatever came to attack them. That mere army of 1,000 was
able to hold that pass for 3 whole days, where the new king of Persia was completely perplexed. But,
it was inevitable, because a man betrayed the Greeks, by telling the Persians of another way out. So
after seeing the deceit, Leonidas of Sparta sent more than half of the remaining soldiers to retreat,
leaving his most faithful men left, which were about 300 men. Their objective was to slaughter as
many Persians as they could, and hold their position until every last Spartan had fallen. It was a battle
that was worthy enough to be turned into an epic. Leonidas and his men inevitably fell to the invasion,
but not without taking more than twice the amount of soldiers he had in his army. So unlike Early
Greece, Classical Greece had a more bloody history, but it ended up being twice as

Chicago Bulls Stars From The 90s
10 Chicago Bulls Stars From the 90s Where Are They Now?
Since its inception in the year 1966 Chicago Bulls has had a strong and on going spirit of victory
placing it as most probably the greatest basketball team of all time. For the years that have passed it
has brought forth all star players who have made it be a vicious and voracious team that it is back then
and now still. It has taken up the likes of the all time greatest Michael Jordan, Horace Grant, Dennis
Rodman and many more other basketball legends.
The 90s were undoubtedly the most successful times of the Chicago Bulls. It was their ferocity and
hard work which saw the team amass the NBA championships titles for a good six times within 7
years (1991 1998). No other basketball team has ever risen to such heights of winning the
championship finals on multiple occasions other than the Chicago Bulls. Now that it is no longer the
nineties one major question which still echoes from fans is where are stars from the 90s now?
Craig Hodges
Craig Hodges is one Chicago Bulls legend who was prime in his career in the 90s. He moved to the
Chicago Bulls team in the year 1988. He was a major asset to the team given he helped them win the
NBA Championships twice in 1991 to 1992 while playing the position of a shooting guard. Later on in
1993 he however moved to another basketball team after being waived by the Bulls. He later retired
from professional basketball and started coaching as from 1994. He still coaches till now

The Dangers Of Animal Rights
Animal Rights Animal Rights isn t something that should be taken lightly. There s animals in many
places that are neglected, and unloved. The most reported cases of abuse is from dogs, cats, horses,
and livestock. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly related with other crimes, including violence
against people(Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). I have three dogs, two of my dogs are rescues from
situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the same rights as
humans? I want to know why people feel the need to hurt animals. I want to understand why it would
even cross their minds to hurt a defenseless animal. I read this from an article online. I found it
shocking, and made me sick to my stomach. Earlier this week, Paul Rogers from Gloucestershire was
jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted that he had microwaved his pet rabbit. Rogers a man with a
history of psychiatric problems claimed he carried out the act because he was angry at not being
prescribed some medication that he said he needed. But what typically possesses anyone to inflict
such acts of intentional animal torture and cruelty? (IATC) There are many types of IATC including
individuals that do it: as a religious ritual sacrifice; as an artistic sacrifice (e.g. killing animals in films
such as the controversial Cannibal Holocaust); because they have psychological disorders (such as
antisocial/psychopathic personality disorders and engage in deliberate acts of zoosadism),

A Brave New World Identity Analysis
A Lifeless Society by Joseph Heutel British Literature Period 6 January 30, 2017 Freedom and
identity is something that we today never think of not having, it never comes to us. What would a life
without our own freedom and identity be like, having no say in anything we, just be alive but not truly
living. We have to think to ourselves how much do relay on our freedom and having our own identity.
They make us who we are, having a choice of having a mind that you get to explore and be one of a
kind. Aldous Huxley tries to show us what life would be with the loss of freedom and identity. In

We see right if the batt that everything happens a certain way, we see that there are some upper powers
and we see how just bland this dystopian society is. Right away in the first couple chapters we see the
misconceptions of each class. ?The alphas and Betas, on the other hand who were allowed as eggs to
develop without benefit of Bokanovsky and whose Hypnopedia (sleep teaching) has inspired them
with a sense of superiority, are perfectly suited to the field of higher intellectual superiority?
(Dawnson 284). We see that the World controllers believe that for this world to thrive it needs to be
broken into classes where some are very smart and some are very dumb, why so that everyone is
happy. The Controllers give the world the wrong perceptions on everything just so the lower classes
stay happy even though they are less than the Alphas and Betas. ?We also predestine and condition.
We decent our babies as socialized human beings, as Alphas or Epsions, as future sewage workers or
future? future directors or hatcheries.? (Huxley 13). We also see the director telling the students in the
beginning of the book that the world?s best are sewage works and people who do the dirty work. This
is because the lower classes are much dumber than the higher classes and they need them to feel
important to keep this dystopian society

Advantages And Disadvantages Of MOBA Games
A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information or data. It is used in many different
works, it has the ability to store, retrieve and process data. It is used for typing documents, sending

There are some good effects MOBA Games brought. It can make the player think critically and show
cognitive ability, since this game is a real time strategy genre (Prensky, M., 2012). It provides
teamwork and leadership because one team should be oriented, and it improves the ability of
individual to communicate with their team and work to secure their objectives. Lastly, it can control
the emotions of the player (Granic, I. G., Lobel, A. L. Engels, R. E. 2014).
Spite of those advantages there are still many disadvantages that a player can get, through playing

player wants to play more after playing computer games they don t mind the time that they are

aware how long they take playing computer games and mostly people used to play computer games at

Why Knights Were Respected In The Middle Ages
Did you know knights were one of the most important parts of the middle ages? And do you know if
they really followed all the rules and if they were acknowledged in the medieval age? Well, this essay
will inform us everything we need to know about why Knights were respected in The Dark Ages, and
that they respected all the rules. Now starting off, a knight is a mounted soldier, the word mounted in
the medieval age was to ride on something like a horse and that s why we see most of the knights on
horses. All knights followed the code of chivalry, knights served their lord, and knights were respected

A knight s job was to defend women and children and anyone in a difficult situation or trouble. If a
knight protected no one in distress, he would not deserve to be a knight. Now let s talk about the
Knight In Shining Armor , which means a person who comes to a women s aid. The code of chivalry
represented how a knight should act and behave. A knight was said to remain a knight by his father. If
the father is a knight then most probably the son will also be a knight. Whenever a knight is at war or
at any conflict, he will have to save the people first and then engage into fighting. A knight is always
supposed to fulfill his duty. Even though the lead crucial role of the knight was to serve and protect his

  • 2. Before And After By Andy Warhol Before and After Andy Warhol Doubtlessly, Marilyn Diptych by Andy Warhol is the symbol of Pop Art movement for me; however, I like to express my reaction to Before and After, 1961, by Andy Warhol. The foremost reason for choosing this piece is I just saw it and my reaction is so fresh! Reading about Andy Warhol and his early stages as an iconic pop artist, Before and After attracts my attention, a black and white big size piece which shows a profile of a woman before and after a nose plastic surgery. Arthur C. Danto believes Andy Warhol is a person who can make an art piece out of nothing. Before Warhol, Before and After would have been a piece of boilerplate commercial art, whose maker would be long forgotten. (Dante, 2) I agree ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Travel Agency Management Could the tide be changing? Travel agencies play an important role within the UK travel and tourism industry. They are the retail arm of the industry, selling a wide range of holiday products and travel services to the public. Yet travel industry analysts have been predicting the death of the high street travel agent due to the ever changing nature of distribution channels. Travel agents are the key intermediaries in the distribution chain whose main role is selling air, rail, sea and land based services. They do this on behalf of their suppliers or principals. They also may offer additional travel related services such as insurance and foreign exchange . Throughout the history of the travel agent is has shown an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Integration means formal linking arrangements between one organisation and another. Vertical integration occurs along the production process, for example, when an airline establishes its own tour operating company. This type of integration is forwards into the marketplace, and the most popular example is when a tour wholesaler acquires a retail travel chain through merger or purchase. Another way is backwards and this is most commonly seen when tour operators own airlines, and when scheduled airlines form alliances with multinational hotel chains and surface transport companies to secure trading advantages over their rivals. The benefits of forming vertical links include cutting out the middle man by being able to control costs and quality standards...securing supplies and increasing buying power, and protecting market position by guaranteeing retail outlets on prime high street sites. (Fyall and Wanhill, 2007) Other ways of controlling the market is by franchising, which is a licensing agreement whereby the parent company grants another firm the right to sell its products and use its brand name, but in return the firm should not sell the products of its competitors. And through mutual shareholding arrangements and a system of tied agency licensing, which gives them exclusive outlets for their products and protects their profits. Second type of integration is called horizontal integration, which occurs when two tour operators or two travel agents integrate, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Media On Body Dissatisfaction Of Young... The media is an important aspect of the current society and is ever present to the public. With the creation of new technology, there are more and more ways the media can be received and displayed for people to see everywhere they go. There are so many media sights nowadays such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as new magazines, commercials and other media publications made every day that allow people to connect to current events and new trends. Although today s media has the potential to have a positive or negative impact on the lives of the people, there have been many controversial debates on the impact of the media on the body dissatisfaction of young girls and adolescents. Body dissatisfaction can be described as the negative self evaluation of one s own appearance and to be more physically attractive, and is fairly common in young girls and adolescents. Approximately one hundred studies of media effects on body dissatisfaction have been conducted with the majority of these showing at least some evidence, (Ferguson, Munoz, Contreras, Velasquez). Many psychological experts and specialists have explored the effect of the media on developing female girls and adolescent body image to conclude whether it has a significant or insignificant impact on the body image of female adolescents and young girls. In the current media, women are idealized as skinny, airbrushed, and flawless. The media has been harshly criticized for creating and perpetuating a cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Rhetorical Analysis Of King Agamemnon In the midst of the Trojan war, King Agamemnon is distraught after his loss of Chryseis. As a form of compensation, Agamemnon demands that Achilles forfeit his war prize: Briseis, princess of Lyrnessus. Unhappy with this course of action, Achilles withdraws from the war. Generals, trusted advisors, soldiers, and healers under King Agamemnon s rule deliver deliberate speeches and debate as to if and why Agamemnon should keep or return Briseis to Achilles for his return. Speaker 1, who spoke in favor of Agamemnon keeping Briseis, incorporates all three rhetorical appeals and adopts a commanding tone of voice in order to persuade the soldiers to continue battling despite the loss of Achilles. In contrast, Speaker 14, who was opposed to Agamemnon keeping Briseis, explores pathos and demonstrates the effectiveness of repetition while directly addressing Agamemnon. To begin with, in pursuance of persuading her audience of soldiers to allow King Agamemnon to keep his stolen war prize Briseis, Speaker 1 capitalizes on the three rhetorical appeals: logos, pathos, and ethos. The most effective appeal for her, given her audience, was ethos. First, she had to establish herself as a credible source for the sake of convincing the soldiers why her reasoning was valid. Who better to speak about the King then his trusted advisor, who not only worked with him throughout his ruling, but who also worked with his father before him and watched him grow up to be the man he is today. With the audience of soldiers in mind, they are more likely to listen to the reasoning of a person in power, who has proven themselves to be knowledgeable and can testify on behalf of a person, both personally and professionally. Soldiers are trained to follow the commands of someone in charge and if the trusted advisor says that they are capable of allowing the King to keep Briseis and in turn continue to fight the war and win without Achilles, then it can be done. Using ethos gives the speaker a platform to be heard from. Similarly, the speaker s commanding tone of voice helped to deliver an effective speech. It would have been futile to have established herself as this person with great power had her deliverance not matched the substance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Celebrities Affence And Society s Influence On Society People go through countless measures such as dieting pills, eating too little, or working out too much to make their body shapes resemble the ones pictured on the cover of magazines or Instagram posts. Kylie Jenner, famous teen beauty influencer, has several pictures of her online slyly eating a gummy bear by the brand name Sugar Bear Hair, which endorses long and thick beautiful hair. • 10. Essay on The Mental Health of Individuals in the LGBT... The mental health of individuals in the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) community is something that is a serious problem. For most of the history of the United States and many different parts of the world LGBT people faced much persecution and in some cases even death. This constant fear of discovery and the pressure that one feels on oneself when in the closet can lead to major mental distress. Research has shown that people who identify as LGBT are twice as likely to develop lifetime mood and anxiety disorders (Bostwick 468). This is extremely noticeable the past couple years in the suicides of bullied teens on the basis of sexual identity and expression. The stigma on simply being perceived as LGBT is strong enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also worth noting that research into the mental health of the LGBT community is lacking (then and now) and that discrimination is legal in many cases (Luckstead 3). Some of the ways that discrimination is legal would be the banning of marriage rights in some states, the absence of sexuality and sexual expression in the working on discrimination clauses around the nation, the ability for a person to be fires or evicted simply because they are LGBT. All of these things can cause stress in the life of members of the LGBT community and in te cause of stress you find causes and additives to mental distress and illness. One could surmise that with the turning tide on the issue of gay rights in the US that the mental health risk here is not work looking into. This would be incorrect and the suicides of LGBT youth in the past couple years confirms this. The causes of these mental illnesses can be attributed heavily to discrimination on almost all fronts. The impact of institutional discrimination, that is discrimination that is passed through laws or amendments in a state or federal level, has been shown. It had been shown that the prevalence of mental illness is higher in states that do not provide protection from discrimination such as in the work place and in marriage (the bans of the time of ... • 11. Weathering and Erosion bub Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a given time and place, with respect to variables such as temperature, moisture, wind velocity, and barometric pressure. Weather can be classified as day to day temperature and precipitation activity, where climiate is average atmospheric conditions over longer periods of time. Weather occurs from temperature and moisture differences between one place and another. These differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot. The strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather systems in the mid latitudes, such as extratropical cyclones , are caused by instabilities of the jet stream flow. Because the Earth s axis is tilted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Higher altitudes are cooler than lower altitudes, which is explained by the lapse rate. On local scales, temperature differences can occur because different surfaces (such as oceans, forests, ice sheets, or man made objects) have differing physical characteristics such as reflectivity, roughness, or moisture content. Surface temperature differences in turn cause pressure differences. A hot surface heats the air above it and the air expands, lowering the air pressure and its density. The resulting horizontal pressure gradient accelerates the air from high to low pressure, creating wind, and Earth s rotation then causes curvature of the flow via the Coriolis effect. The simple systems thus formed can then display emergent behaviour to produce more complex systems and thus other weather phenomena. Large scale examples include the Hadley cell while a smaller scale example would be coastal breezes. The atmosphere is a chaotic system, so small changes to one part of the system can grow to have large effects on the system as a whole. This makes it difficult to accurately predict weather more than a few days in advance, though weather forecasters are continually working to extend this limit through the scientific study of weather, meteorology. It is theoretically impossible to make useful day to day predictions more than about two weeks ahead, imposing an upper limit to potential for improved prediction skill. ... • 12. Essay On Scientific Method The Usefulness of the Scientific Method The development of the scientific method in the late 1500 s to the early 1600 s was a crucial stepping stone in the science community. The scientific method is based upon observations, hypotheses and experimentation. The concept is rather simple, and can be applied to many areas of study. Once an observation is made, the observer can make a hypothesis as to why that phenomenon occurs and can then design an experiment to prove whether or not that hypotheses is valid. Although the scientific method has been extremely useful in the discovery of various things from usages of medications to studying animal behavior, there are still those who question the usage of this tool. These critics claim that since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several disease that are we still do not know much about despite copious amounts of research. Cancer and Alzheimer s are two major examples of these mysterious diseases. Although the scientific method is useful in the development and research on various medications and treatments, there are still limitations. Patients react to treatments in various ways, because bodies and systems vary from person to person. There is simply too many variable to be able to pinpoint the exact reaction a patient may have. Clinical trials and studies can narrow down these reactions down to a list of possible side effects, but doctors can never know for sure how a patient will respond. There are many unknowns and treating actual patients is much different that conducting an experiment investigating how two medications will effect an experimental unit. During a designed experiment, the experimenter can control all the variables except for the experimental variable and get clear straightforward results. On the other hand, when treating a real patient with a severe illness, such as cancer, the physician has to keep an eye on all body systems. They cannot simple give all of their attention to the area of the body that is currently affected. In these practical settings, there is simply too many variables for the scientific method to be as useful as it normally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though the labor market has changed, the original National Labor Relations Act has not. The NLRA provide legal protection to employees to not be terminated for participate in organizing a union. NLRA created a blanket enforcement of NLBA rights equal for undocumented workers and U.S. citizens (Zdravecky Hass, 2014). The law does not expressly detail terms who is considered an employee of an employer. The original intent of the law was to provide protection to anyone regularly employed in the U.S. The actions of the NLRA board makes it clear the board felt that undocumented workers deserved equal protection for the NLRA. If employer was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employment opportunities are chief reason illegal aliens come into the United States. NLBA gave balance of protection to undocumented workers the same as U.S. citizens. Since back pay or reinstatement is not a remedy the NLRB to correct violations, this gives employers an incentive to violate the IRCA. The purpose of the Immigration Reform and Control Act is to make it a violation of the law to hire an employee not authorized to work in the United States. However enforcement of this law until recent years has not been robust. The court system or congress will need to fix these loopholes in the current laws to close these gaps. The way the law is created at this time gives an unfair advantage to employers who want to ignore current immigration laws. Undocumented workers can be paid lower wages and place in unsafe working conditions without any way to find remedy for those violations under the current law. The current law does not allow for undocumented immigrant protection from discrimination and labor relations violations. It is an economic disadvantage for employers to follow current immigration laws (Layne, 2011). The next question is where we can find a reliable source of information. This will then lead us to look for a website that is credible. While there are several accurate and reliable information, I chose Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also known as CDC. This is one of the operating bodies of the Department of Health that deals mainly on the identification, prevention, control of diseases and promotion of health education to improve the health of the citizens of the United States of America. Numerous search engines in the web world can be utilized to access the website, URL http://www.cdc.gov. One belief, which was from Galileo, resolved that any two things that fall together, fall at the same time, even if they are as heavy as an elephant. Another belief was from Rene Descartes. It stated that a ball traveling, which is uninterrupted, will keep going in a straight line. Beliefs before Newton s Laws were exceedingly different than what they are now. Newton s Laws of Motion changed beliefs about force and motion drastically forever. The first law of motion states that an object at rest stays at rest (Newton/Slideshow). This law is also called the Law of Inertia. Inertia is an object s intransigence to changes with/in, which is why the first law is called this name. Newton s Laws have drastically changed beliefs about force and motion forever. Newton s Second Law is about momentum, mass, and acceleration. It states, When a net force acts on an object, it produces a change in the momentum of the object in the direction in which the force acts (Newton/Slideshow). • 20. Education Is The Implementation Of A Standard Curriculum Introduction One of the most significant and prevalent changes seen in education is the implementation of a standard curriculum. Prior to this effort there were many ineffective practices that occurred within the nation s schools. According to Girod, G.R., Girod, M (n.d.), there was a time that students were measured on such things as a spelling test. If you spelled a certain number of words correctly you were considered a good speller, but did that mean you actually understood the context of the word or was it just memorization? Although there is much debate as to whether or not standard curriculum is fair to all students given different learning styles and aptitudes, in this paper I will go over the some of the important factors and benefits in implementing a standard curriculum. I will also go over how one district in Tempe does exactly this. The Importance of Curriculum at the District Level District frameworks are those that are developed at a local or regional district level. If possible a curriculum committee will be established at the local level to help address the issues coming from a higher level, according to Berkas, N., Pattison, C. (2000). The benefit of such district level leadership is that it coordinates and aligns the curriculum and assessment to ensure alignment with the state and district standards. A further benefit is that teachers are trained and prepared to meet the higher expectations of the state and district and to deliver a shared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Colorado Water Shortage Essay Colorado s Water Shortage; a Localized Problem with a National Salience The Issue at Hand The State of Colorado has suffered from a water shortage in recent years; a difficult situation which is easily visible when viewing the quickly shortening length of the Colorado River. Lake Mead, for example, is roughly 130 feet lower than it once was, marked by the stained rock which towers above the current water level. The river has become a perfect symbol of what happens when we ask too much of a limited resource: it disappears. In fact, the Colorado no longer regularly reaches the sea (Zielinski, 2010). After a new Persian king arises, he sends an army of sixty thousand Persians to attack Thermopylae, where they were met with only 5,000 Greeks. Sparta sent an army of 1,000 of its most powerful, dedicated, and blood hungry elites to hold the pass of that mountain, so that the rest of Greece could prepare its defenses for whatever came to attack them. That mere army of 1,000 was able to hold that pass for 3 whole days, where the new king of Persia was completely perplexed.
