Essay On The Battle For San Juan Heights
In the early months of 1898, fundamental events took place in fairly rapid succession that led up
to the Spanish American War and in turn the Battle for San Juan Heights. Together, these events
solidified U.S. public opinion towards the U.S. involvement in a war to liberate Cuba from
Spanish rule. A war some saw as a necessity to end the appalling conditions on an island so close to
the American mainland. Some American officials including the U.S. Consul general in Havana,
Fitzhugh Lee, believed that it was only a matter of time before Cubawould be annexed by United
States. (The Spanish American War: American Wars and the Media in Primary Document, W.
Joseph Campbell 2005).
Beginning with and subsequent to the riots in Havana on 12 January 1898, in which Spanish
nationals and military officers attacked the offices of newspapers that supported the Spanish

U.S.S. Maine, be sent to Havana in the aftermath of the riots in January. The battle ship was

Bodies Decompose Of Forensic Entomology
Forensic entomology is the study of insects for medico legal purposes. There are many ways
insects can be used to help solve a crime, but the primary purpose of forensic entomology is
estimating time since death.Once a person dies his or her body starts to decompose. The
decomposition of a dead body starts with the action of microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria,
followed by the action of a series of insects (arthropods). Bodies decompose slowly or fast
depending on weather conditions, if they have been buried or are exposed to the elements, if there
is presence of insects or if they have a substance in their bodies that prevents their fast
decomposition such as body size and weight, clothing,The dead body goes through constant changes

Aggregate Demand And Supply Essay examples
AGGREGATE DEMAND AND SUPPLY
AGGREGATE DEMAND:
Aggregate demand is the amount which will be spent at different values of the price level. It is
composed of consumption (C), investment (I), government spending (6) and net exports (X M).
THE AGGREGATE DEMAND CURVE:
The aggregate demand curve shows the quantity of goods and services which households, firms,
overseas buyers and government are prepared to buy at different values of the general price level. It
is drawn on the assumption that other things (e.g. the money supply, rates of taxation, the marginal
propensity to consume) remain unchanged. Figure 28. I shows an aggregate demand curve.
WHY THE ADCURVE SLOPES DOWN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:
There are three main reasons why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 28.2 shows an extension in aggregate demand. If the general price level falls people s
purchasing power will increase, the transactions demand for money will fall causing a reduction in
interest rates and domestic goods and services will become more price competitive.
____________________________________________
THE SHAPE OF THE AGGREGATE DEMAND CURVE:
One group of economists, Keynesians, believe the aggregate demand curve is steep. This is
because they think that a rise in the general price level will have only a small impact on the rate of
interest and this in turn will have only a small impact on consumption and investment. They argue
that the demand for money is dominated by the speculative rnotive. This is interest elastic so that
an increase in demand for money will cause only a small rise in the rate of interest. In their view
the main influence on both consumption and investment is income and not the rate of interest. The
implication of the aggregate demand curve being steep is that a change in the general price level
will not significantly alter aggregate demand.
In contrast new classical economists believe the aggregate demand curve is shallow, they think
the main component of the demand for money is the transactions demand. This is interest
inelastic so if a rise in the general price level leads to an increase in demand for money there may
be a large rise in the rate of interest.

Essay on Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
Choice and free will are necessary to maintain humanity, both individually and communally;
without them, man is no longer human but a clockwork orange , a mechanical toy, as
demonstrated in Anthony Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange . The choice between good and
evil is a decision every man must make throughout his life in order to guide his actions and control
his future. Forcing someone to be good is not as important as the act of someone choosing to be
good. This element of choice, no matter what the outcome, displays man s power as an individual.
A Clockwork Orange starts with Alex posing the question: what s it going to be then, eh? . Burgess
begins the story by demonstrating that Alex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government controls Alex s free will by means of the Ludovico Technique, which makes
Alex physically ill at the mere consideration of violent thoughts. When Alex is in the staja the
Governor states that criminals can best be dealt with on a purely curative basis. Kill the criminal
reflex... . The Governor does not understand that criminal intent is not an unrestrained reaction,
but the result of autonomy. The voice of reason in the prison is the prison Chaplin who questions
the ethics of interfering with God s gift of moral choice, goodness comes from within....goodness
is something chosen. When a man cannot choose he ceases to be a man . Again through one of
his characters, Burgess is stating that inhibiting a person s free will is more evil than a person s
ability to choose evil over good. If one cannot choose, one ceases to be human and is exactly like a
machine controlled by the government.
After Alex undergoes the Ludovico Technique, he stops asking what s it going to be then, eh?
only to prove that Alex has lost his free will. Alex s question that was so prominent disappears
and the mere thought of violence makes him physically ill. Dr Branom explains the effects of the
technique to Alex : you are being made sane, you are being made healthy . The government and the
doctors are convinced that they are making Alex sane and healthy . On the contrary, they are
controlling his ability to have a choice in his actions. The doctors are

How Being A Single Mom Influenced My Life
Influenced Heart
For as long as I can remember my was always there for me. Deep down I honestly feel like she
molded me for my future. She made me who I am today by teaching me responsibility, finances and
life struggles. She never bothered to hide the cruelty of the real world.
First of all, if I look back I can always remember my mother teaching me responsibility. As early
as six years young my mom would sit down with me every night when she got home and go over
my homework to make sure it was done. I also remember her telling me constantly to take
responsibility for my actions. For example, when I was in highschool I brought cough tablets to
school. My friend was carrying my book bag when they searched her and found them. When I
heard about it I stepped forward and took responsibility for them and I ended up not getting in
trouble because of my honesty. From that moment forward I knew my mother had really raised me
amazingly. Giving me the tools I needed to be successful in life.
In addition to her teaching me respect she also expressed finances to me. My mother always
would a way o tell me about finances. Being a single mom it was hard raising three girls on her
own. She shopped smart and found ways to let us be involved. ... Show more content on

The Boxer Rebellion Essay
Throughout the nineteenth century China s emperors watched as foreign powers began to
encroach closer and closer upon their land. Time after time, China was forced to make
embarrassing concessions. Foreign militaries more modernly armed would constantly defeat the
imperial armies. As the dawn of a new century was about to begin, Empress Tsu Hsi of the Ch ing
Dynasty searched for a way of ridding her empire of the foreign invaders. Germany, Great Britain,
France, Italy, Japan, and Russia all claimed sole trading points to their selected spheres of influence.
Some of these countries even claimed that the territory that lay within their spheres was their own.

Should the strong enemies become aggressive and press us to consent to things we can never
accept, we have no alternative but to rely upon the justice of our cause. If our hundreds of
millions of inhabitants would prove their loyalty to their emperor and love their country, what is
there to fear from any invader? Let us not think about making peace. (Wu Yang 48) In the
northernmost Shandong province, few people were thinking about making peace. A secret
society, known as the Fists of Righteous Harmony, attracted thousands of recruits. Outsiders
called members of this society Boxers because they practiced martial arts. The Boxers also
believed they had magical powers and could not be harmed. Their cause, at first was to overthrow
the imperial Ch ing government and expel all the foreign devils. The Boxers changed direction
when they received support of Qing officials and a crafty Empress. The Boxers new slogan would
become. Support the Ch ing destroy the foreigner! (Yale 212) Without restraining leadership or
organization the Boxers began in early 1900 to raid outposts and symbols of western influence,
including missions and foreign missionaries. The Boxers employed brutal attacks during their raids,
including hacking men and women with swords, burning them alive and sometimes dragged and
tortured through howling mobs before their execution. Nervous foreign ministers demanded

Man and Nature after the Fall in John Milton s Paradise Lost
Man and Nature after the Fall in Paradise Lost
In Paradise Lost, the consequences of the fall and the change in relations between man and nature
can best be discussed when we look at Milton s pre fall descriptions of Eden and its inhabitants.
Believing that fallen humans could never fully understand what life was like in Eden and the
relationships purely innocent beings shared, Milton begins his depiction of Paradise and Adam and
Eve through the fallen eyes of Satan:
So little knows
Any, but God alone, to value right
The good before him, but perverts best things
To worse abuse, or to thir meanest use.

Adam and Eve are tall and erect like the trees, pure and nude, uncovered like the rural landscape.
Adam s hair cut short, almost as if the pair had pruned it. Eve s body seems to be supported by
the garden, but her hair is described as wild, unadorned and wanton, not unlike the landscape
outside of Eden: Steep wilderness, whose hairy sides/ With thicket overgrown, grotesque and

With special care and a watchful eye the Eden will not smother itself, just as Adam and Eve are
safe from Satan when they are together. When Eve leaves Adam, she is tempted by the Serpent and
decides to eat the forbidden fruit. When this happens, the earth feels the fall profoundly:
So saying, her rash hand in evil hour
Forth reaching to the Fruit, she pluck d, she eat:

Good Night Figurative Language
The figurative language both of the poets use shows a difference in their views of death; one poet
uses figurative language to fight against death, while the other uses figurative language to show
that death is unavoidable. In Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night Thomas describes death as
something that can be fought when he says Rage. Rage against the dying of the light. He uses
figurative language because when he says The light he is referring to life. In The Charge of The

The Role Of Capitalism In Colonial America
What allowed America its prosperity? Riddled with hurricanes, tribal warfare, harsh winters, and
other difficulties, it seems like colonial America should ve been decimated without constant support
from Great Britain. And with benign negligence from Great Britain, Colonial America started to
understand they could in fact hold their own as a group of colonies, but not without vast
intellectual and economic innovation and progress to overcome the disasters of famine, weather,
and the wild nature of the American continent. Colonial America saw these dangers and knew
there was a need for a system to gather the most food and provide the most work; that system came
to be known as capitalismafter socialist like communes failed their colonies.
It is important to understand where American colonies started during their settlement. Capitalism
wasn t created out of thin air by the Americans, and they certainly didn t start out with the system
from the beginning. In fact, the first American settlements in the early 1600s were set up with a
communal stock of foodstuffs and with all land being publically owned; settlers were to take
what they needed from these stocks of food and return what they could return, while the food
was supplied by land worked on by all. However, this system rapidly decayed its subjects, leaving
the colonies with no food. This is because when there is no incentive to work more food, profit,
land, et cetera people do not work. And if one will gain the same

Theme Of Angel In The House In Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is a novel written by Charlotte BrontГ«. It is distinctly a female Bildungsroman, as it
follows the progress and growth of Jane s character on her quest for selfhood and independence
in a society that tries its best to impress upon her the roles and expectations of women in the
Victorian era (which is neatly packaged in the figure of the Angel in the house .) This is
something with which this essay seeks to engage by looking at female figures which feature
prominently in Jane s life, how those who embrace the figure of Angel in the house are treated
and viewed, versus those who do not. Furthermore, important male figures will also be looked at
in order to understand Jane s own feelings to the Angel in the house figure and how she approaches
it, as well as how the Byronic heromight relate if it even does.

Miss Temple seems to embrace the Angel figure in its entirety. She is kind, she cares for her

Brocklehurst s words declaring Jane a liar, only to show her more kindness. Afterwards, Miss
Temple assures Jane that if she continues to act as a good girl, [she] will satisfy [her] (BrontГ«
1987, p.61). It is here that Miss Temple seems to admit that her own compliance to societal norms
is an act or that she disagrees with it to some extent. And so it is through Miss Temple s guidance
that Jane learns to wear the mask of compliance, something which Bertha was perhaps not taught to

The Cardiovascular System
The cardiovascular system is a network of inter connected arteries, capillaries and veins that
spread across the whole body. The first major function of the system is to transport oxygenated

Robert Frost The Road Not Taken Response
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost also shows the traveler making his own moral decisions.
The traveler values perseverance. At the fork in the road, the traveler takes the less traveled
path. The dark, overgrown, and unpredictable path. As he walks along the path, he doesn t lose
sight of what his goal is, and doesn t even consider going back and taking the other path. His

never looking back on them. Although the traveler had originally wanted to travel down both

this traveler is doubting he would ever get the chance to come back, and pick between the two

Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids
There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project
that they want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their
own gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out
your spring garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can
not be planted to close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they
are planted next too. They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That
is why a map is certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a
picture of your yard. If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow
them to draw a sketch first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the
garden, sit down with them and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than
one child, why not give each of them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they
want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up
how and where they want to plantthe seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this
lesson is measure the distance between each plant. Look up what the right distance between each
plant should be. Most of this information can easily be found online. If they write the measurements
down on the map, when it is time to plant they can

Jason does not like this but I say with him Forgiveness start here. Few days later, I attend the
rugby match between Springbok and England. This match likely to present the entrenched
problems in South African community. I can see how serious the situation is when the Black
cheering England team and the White sport fans support the old ways with their outdated flags.
Moreover, when I arrive there are many aggressive people throw beer cans to me. At that day, our
team lose. Based on the bad result, National Sport Council decides to eliminate the emblem and
colour of Springbok because they represent apartheid through the colour of the uniform. As a
leader of the whole nation, I believe rugby is the symbol of South Africa and Springbok is the
factor for reunification without using any power or taking away White South African their most
valued traditions. Therefore, I ask the National Sports Council to restore the Springbok s name,

An Analysis Of Nickel And Dimed By Barbara Ehrenreich
Nickel and Dimed Analysis
1. What is the topic?
Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich is the autobiography of when Barbara went
undercover to find out more about the life of a medium wage worker. She first goes to work in
Key West, Florida at the restaurant Hearthside . She had worked there for a couple of weeks
realizing how incredibly strenuous it was being a waitress especially when under a boss named
Phillip that is constantly bickering and ranting on how poor of a job she is doing by having a
conversation with the customers and giving too much bread. In Florida Barbara attempts to work
two jobs at once at another restaurant named Jerrys however after about two days she decides to
quit at Heartside and work full time at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main claim of the book Nickel and Dimed would be that living life on medium wage was and
still is an incredibly laborious action to be able to complete. Barbara shows how even with two
jobs she would have trouble paying for a place to live, food to eat, and other essentials. It was such
a miserable process that at one point when Barbara Ehrenreich spilled dirty water all over her
shoes there was absolutely no way for her to change shoes. Those pairs of grimy and soaked
shoes were the only pair of shoes she had and did not have enough to buy a new pair which meant
she needed to fight through it (85).
3. Is the evidence to support the claim reliable? The evidence that is given to the reader in the
book would have to be reliable considering the author has a wide range of background on the
subject of low income workers. Another point would be that Ehrenreich does not give much of
statistics except for when she tells the reader about how many people are working in medium
wage jobs. This all seems to be reliable information because of how Ehrenreich is an educated
woman with dozens of friends who are also experts in the field of how much someone is getting
paid can affect their lifestyle. Ehrenreich uses the statistics in the first chapter of the book when
she begins her journey talking about her plan and how she will be able to show how working as
low income worker is an extremely strenuous task to complete.

Poachers Kill Magnificent Animals for Profit Essay
Lions and tigers, oh my! Some know animals such as these to be scary; other people understand
these animals to be a beautiful creation of Earth. Whether you are afraid of mighty beasts or
simply in awe of them, it astonishes many people when they realize how few of them are still
alive. Rhinoceroses, elephants, leopards, tigers, African lions, and many more creatures are all
considered an endangered species, and we are the reason they are deemed that way. The one
element all of those animals have in common is that they are valuable. Rhinoceroses are treasured
for their horns; Elephants for their tusks. Lions, tigers, and leopards are all wanted for their skins.

If any main predator species were to become extinct then prey species would no longer have any
factors regulating their population. Therefore, the prey would have an overproduction of offspring
which would cause a decrease in the plant life and have continuous damage down to the bottom of
the food chain. Eventually, the major disaster that would occur is the exhaustion of the food supply.
Even though poaching may seem unstoppable because of its supply and demand methods, many
people and countries have banded together to help stop the destruction of species and the
detriments that follow. One organization that is attempting to stop poaching is the Environmental
Investigation Agency. The EIA has spread awareness to many different areas and has been
informing the public about how vulnerable ecosystems are and the repercussions that will result if
poaching continues. It also educates people on the simple ways they can help reduce poaching
such as refusing any illegal animal items or parts offered to them. The United States, Canada,
Taiwan, and Australia have also participated in the plan to prevent poaching. All four countries
have laws against finning sharks, or the process of removing a shark s fins and then throwing back
the body. Fisherman are allowed to catch sharks in these countries, but they must retrieve all of the
shark and keep it intact. Nearly all countries and major

Buddhism Compare And Contrast Essay
Another example of a triumph of Buddhism is from the pre Tibetan view that the land of Tibet
was considered to be a gigantic demoness where offerings were made to ensure she was mollified
for the good of the people. However, Buddhist practitioners wanted no part of demonic spirits and
so therefore defeated this demoness by building temples on her four limbs and over her heart to
render her incapable of hindering the spread of Buddhismin Tibet.
The Bön religion although seen to exist on an identical basis with Buddhism however there are
some differences between the two religions. Bön ritual movement is counter clockwise, with

The similarities of Bön and Buddhism practitioners appear identical, such as the accumulation of
merit through good deeds in the same way; that is by living a meaningful and good life, turning
hand wheels, chanting sacred prayers, circumambulating stupas, monastery or mountains, hanging
prayer flags, even meditational and metaphysical traditions appear similar. All these actions are with
the ultimate aim of being reborn into the human realm or a higher paradisiacal world of Tibetan
cosmology.
There is a complicated relationship of mutual influence that exits between Bön and Buddhism, that
traces back through the centuries of shared history and turmoil, while also progressing into the
modern era in synchronicity.
In conclusion, the state of modern day Tibetan Buddhism has only been strengthened by the
incorporation of practices from other cultures and countries, this has made a thriving and growing
religion with approximate 6% of the worlds population, 350 million people practicing Buddhism
today. Although, the practice is more widely spread in South Asia and South East Asia, Buddhism
is found in many western countries also. It has been spread by a significant number of immigrant
communities or ease of access to travel by westerners to these countries and as a way of keeping

Oil Sands
In this essay I will use the social issue of oil sands and its impact on climate change to critically
compare the social order and class struggle perspectives in social theory. To examine the social
order perspective, I will use the theories of Robert Merton and Harold Garfinkel. For the class
perspective theory, I will use the theories of Pierre Bourdieu and Immanuel Wallenstein. The
social order perspective explains the social issue of climate change in terms of how the social
structures of the economy enforce and produce the ways in which people discuss climate change.
Its main strength is that it identifies how the economy is able to shape discussions and create a
sense of order around the opposing conflict of interest between the economy... Show more content

Merton s theory derives from the fundamentalist perspective in which he defines manifest functions
as the easily recognizable and intended outcomes, whereas latent functions are unintended. Merton
argues the distinction between manifest and latent functions has significant value and that both
functions need to be recognized as an approach to explaining any social phenomena (Powell 2017:
Feb 15). Latent functions are not necessarily the anticipated outcome, however a closer
examination of this function can lead to a better understanding of a social relation or patterns
observed (Longofer Winchester, 2016). For instance, in applying the social issue of climate change
to Merton s manifest and latent theory, it is clear the manifest function of oil sands is for refineries
to extract the oil to produce fuel (energy source). As a result of increased reliance on oil sands as
fuel, the process of refining oil and clearing land to extract the oil from these oil sands, releases tons
of pollution into the atmosphere, creating the phenomena known as climate change. The perceived
function of oil sands is not to harmful to the environment, however; it becomes the negative
consequence of the objective. Although the manifest function does not recognize that the use of oil
sands leads to an increased threat of the environment, the latent function is able to identify the
relationship. This latent function leads to the reexamination of the use of oil sand and how our
society collectively moves on about making informed decisions regarding both the production and
the rate at which we use

Compromise Dbq
Americans in the early nineteenth century had been, or atleast seemed to be very desent at solving
their political problems with compromise. Compromise had been less and less effective at settling
these politcal disputes the closer to 1900 it became. It seemed to be revativly impossible by 1860.
This impossibity arouse from the North and the South adpoting impervious opinions about politics
and slavery that heavily opposed each other. Senator Henry Clay, the Father of Compromise clearly
stated and believed that it was utterly impractical that South Carolina ever wated to suceceed from

Foreign Policies Due: October 4, 2012 Modern Syria first gained its independence in 1946,
following many years of violent strife. Before this, the state had been under a French Mandate
and had suffered under a conditional (or more aptly, false) independence, wherein the French
State held veto power over any potential laws introduced by the Syrian people (US Dept. of

Foreign intervention in the Syrian Civil War will only result in a high price to be paid, mainly the
US loss of support on the international front as well as the financial expenses that the US would
incur if involved militarily. Such civil wars and intrastate conflicts between rebel groups and the
government can be resolved through diplomatic negotiations that can avoid these expenses
(Frieden). The US is not financially secure enough to engage in yet another bloody conflict in the
Middle East, particularly one as convoluted as the one in Syria. The usage of the word convoluted
is significant in that it remains uncertain who the non FSA and who the actual leaders of the
rebellion are. According to Frieden, it is difficult to gather information about who is a part of these
militant groups because they are covert and because terrorist groups have incentives to exaggerate.
Furthermore, should that question and the identities of the FSA be resolved, how would we
distinguish the innocent from the terrorists? Both important actors in these uprisings, the Syrian
government, and the Free Syrian Army and other rebel fighters, have participated in what may be
considered international war crimes that have resulted in a multitude of civilian deaths. The

was a policy that many nations did not follow as they were sufficient already, yet the few that had

He chose the site for the house because he understood that humans were in close relationship with
nature, therefore a plan which was in line with nature would connect to what was fundamental in
people. For example, while all of Fallingwater is opened by large bands of windows, the
inhabitants are sheltered as if to be in a deep cave. Conviviality, privacy and comfort are not
compromised, allowing people room to relax and explore the amusement of a life clean in
nature. As soon as Wright had chosen the area on which the house would be built, there was a
clear issue building there. The situation was that the northern levee of Bear Run was too narrow
to bestow a foundation for a house that would be built to his standards (Toker, 39, Fallingwater
Rising: America s most extraordinary house). Apart from this issue, the Kaufmann s requirements
needed to be achieved due to the fact that they had planned to have large numbers of people over
and therefore it was required that the house be larger than the available plot size. In addition, Mr.
and Mrs. Kaufmann had asked to have separate bedrooms including another for their oldest son and
a supplementary room for guests. Wright s answer to the issue of space was birthed when he had
decided to include a cantilevered structure. Smith (320) outlined that the systemic design for

Abstract/Summary
In this experiment the SI and English standard measurement systems were used to learn how to
convert one unit of measurement to another through the use of measurement instrumentation. A
centimeter ruler was used to measure both inanimate objects such as a lab table, and a window as
well as body measurements on multiple people within the group. The measurements were used in
finding the perimeter, area and volume of each of the objects. This experiment taught how to
express scientific figures for data and results. As multiple measurements were taken precision and
accuracy became greater. This data was used to determine ratios and percent errors.

The Concert At The Athenaeum Theatre
The live performance that I attended was called Circling the Square. The performance consisted
of two pieces the first called Trio M and the Second called ASCENDance. The choreographer for
these pieces was Jan Bartoszek a highly skilled choreographer who has choreographed more than
65 dances in her artistic career. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local
Chicago based DanceCompany. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago
from April 8th to April 9th, 2016. Each performance was a contemporary dance piece showing
the strength of each dancer s movements with different props to help express the meaning of
each piece. The pieces were independent from each other and had their own flow to them as well
as story behind them. The dancers for each piece showed discipline in their performance as well as
physical strength; as modern dance is all about having clean cut movement in order to fully express
the story.
The first performance was called Trio M, performed by three male dancers and only one prop on
the stage, a red bench. The meaning behind the dance from what I could gather was that the red
bench signified much more than just a bench it exemplified power. The dancers had to compete
with each other to obtain the bench and gain the glory. The movements that the dancers produced
were executed with a sense of fluidity and expression. In order to covey the fight for dominance
there had to be a struggle to reach the red bench which

This short story written by John Michael is told from a 3rd person subjective perspective, and is

Bulimics can suffer from anxiety and substance abuse. Furthermore, the bulimic person is

powerless to stop eating. They only stop once they are too full to eat anymore.
Bulimics show severe behavioral signs. They eat uncontrollably and have strict dieting plans for
themselves. They use the bathroom frequently after meals and do extreme exercises to keep
weight off even if the weather is bad or they are in pain. Bulimics have many methods to lose
weight besides vomiting. They take laxatives, diuretics, enemas, diet pills, or insulin. Bulimics are

How Did Benedict Arnold Win The Patriots
Benedict Arnold was a patriot after all. He fought more battles for the patriots than for Great
Britain. He served the 13 colonies for longer than he served Great Britain. And he did defect to
Great Britain, but not for the reasons that we think.
At the end of his military career for the Patriots, Benedict was a Major General. He fought and
won 8 battles for the patriots. Of which included Fort Ticonderoga, West Point, and Quebec City.
Benedict also planned many of the attacks for the patriots. He only fought in 3 battles for Great
Britain.
His military career started in March 1775, in Connecticut where he was elected captain of the
militia. He served the patriots for 5 more years after that, fighting in the battles of Quebec, The
Cedars, Valcour Island, Ridgefield, and Saratoga. Also he marched 1,100 men from Cambridge to

The Problem Of Immigration In The United States
One of the biggest problems that the United States faces today is immigration. Some of the
problems that immigration has caused our country is the illegal flow of drugs, cash, guns, people
crossing or border, and ending cartel businesses. There have been many discussions and arguments
over what the best solution for the problem of immigrationshould be. From the solution of having
open borders with the Obama administration and the solution of building a wall to close our borders
of our President Elect Donald Trump. Our government has also been taking great strides to stop the
problem with immigration by creating the Department of Homeland Security . Although many
Americans would disagree our government has become much more efficient and

two healthcare systems is that in Great Britain there are no deductibles and close to no copayments

The similarities of the two healthcare systems are that both countries have an organized healthcare
system although they are organized in a differently. All citizens in each country are treated by
physicians in an attempt to heal and treat the sick. Also both healthcare systems use preventive
medicine as a way to improve the overall health of all citizens. Another similarity amongst the two
is that there are many citizens in each country that share the same opinion on the quality of the

Superman And Me Sherman Alexie Analysis
Family values have an enormous impact on children. These impacts constantly reveal altered
outcomes. In the essay Superman and Me, a Native American boy is empowered by his heritage
to break through stereotypes of intelligence. Likewise, Stone Soup presents a single mother who
breaks through stereotypes to see her differences as a normality. Although both of these authors are
faced with harsh situations, these essays lead to unlikely empowerment in the end. Whereas
Alexie perceives pride as encouraging others to look past stereotypes of race through intelligence,
Kingsolver perceives pride in the strength of a single mother, a mother who doesn t make her
children any less happy. In the essay Superman and Me, Sherman Alexie tells an inspirational story
of how he managed to push through standards and encourage Native Americans to want better for
themselves. The author s parents had a significant repercussion on what he wanted of his future.
Alexie states, We were poor by most standards, but one of my parents usually managed to find
some minimum wage job or another, which made us middle class by reservation standards... We
lived on a combination of irregular paychecks, hope, fear, and government surplus of food. (Alexie).
The author continuously strived for more success throughout his childhood because the lack of
dependency from his parents. Striving for success, the author taught himself how to read by
assuming what the words were saying. Alexie states, I cannot

Tattoos Have Been Popular Throughout Time All Over The...
Tattoos have been popular throughout time all over the world. Yet, rumors have it that tattoos are a
modern day trend that originated in prison. Tattooing actually dates back to five thousand years
ago. They have not just become some new pop culture fad. Prehistoric clans, ancient Egyptians,
Native Americans, sailors, circus people, royalty, celebrities, and plenty of young adults today
have all participated in some form of body art. Tattooing has played a significant role in
mythologies and customs in ancient cultures. In American, tattoos were introduced by sailors
returning from expeditions in Europe during the late seventeen hundreds and the early eighteen
hundreds. Tattoos became trendy in America through said sailors and bikers, which showed they
had a look of respect and dignity within their groups.
The earliest recording of tattoos was found on the frozen remains of an ancestor to Northern
Europeans from around Thirty Five Thousand B.C to about Two Thousand Three Hundred B.C.
The remains had small markings on it s lower back, ankles, and one of it s feet, made by rubbing
charcoal into cuts. A series of x rays revealed a joint disease where each of the tattoos were
located, which has led researchers to believe that the early Europeans used this as a medical
treatment to reduce pain. The Egyptian figures from around the time Two Thousand B.C show
female dancers displayed with dot and dash tattoos on their bodies to represent Bes, also known as
the god of fertility

Country Club Vs City Club Analysis
Country Club Positions and City Club Positions
A Country Club and a City Club are both very prestigious and elite clubs that are exclusive to the
members of the particular club. Both clubs are equipped with food and beverage services and
with specific amenities and services to meet the needs of their members. These clubs are also
similar in that they are not available to the general public but only to the members that pay for
their services. Their membership dues are likely costly, which usually gives them the entitlement to
expect and in some cases demand a higher level of product and service to meet their needs.
Clubs that provide a higher standard of service creates a need for a more experienced staff that
understands and can deliver products and services. These clubs do have a few similar positions in

Introduction
Hello Reader!
Whether you have Dyscalculia yourself or you were just wondering what it is, I m here to help you.
I have a sprinkle of dyscalculia, as I like to say. I say a sprinkle because dyscalculia is a teensy tiny
percentage of who I actually am.
Your learning disability is what you make it. I m not saying this in a dismissive way at all. I m
not saying that if you have dyscalculia you re dumb. I m very smart; I just don t have a
mathematical brain. But, I m really great with animals. So that s what I focus on. If you have a
positive attitude (which I have to force myself to have sometimes) towards your learning disability,
you can achieve great things.
I hope you find this little book helpful. The Tips Tricks chapter is my favorite chapter because it s
chockfull of things I ve had to learn over the years that I ve conveniently

Drug Usage And Its Effect On Today s Youth
I m in love with the coco (a song depicting a love for cocaine song by O.T. Genasis), just one of the
most recent songs to have explicit usage of drugs. Referring to drug usage and sales is a popular
trend in today s hip hop and rap lyrics. As a society where do we draw the line with censorship of
this material? Not only are the lyrics being said, but the drugusage is also being portrayed in the
music videos; all the way from marijuana usage to cocaine and popping pills. There s no doubt
that this type of music has a negative effect on today s youth, but by censoring, this variety of
music are we in effect censoring the culture and reality that sings it. No matter the drug, no
matter the era, they ve always played a major role for better or worse. The rap lifestyle has
always gone hand in hand with drugs. The use of drugs other than weed seemed to be something
that was not largely accepted until the 2000s. While sale of hard drugs, from crack to even
heroin, has been promoted even to the point of glamorization, references to exploration would
seep through the cracks every now and then. Many of these artiest choose to sing and rap about
drugs is mainly due to the fact they grew up in poverty and in neighborhoods where this was a
common occurrence to see. Growing up witnessing not only friends and family members be
addicted to and selling drugs is what influences these artist. We can compare the drug use and
violence in rap lyrics to the heart break and soul in

Why Should The Color Purple Be Banned Essay
The book A Color Purple is regularly challenged because those in power cannot handle the past.
They seem to forget that books are subjective. Some teenagers read more mature books than
people thrice their age. Even if it is a mature read there is something to learn from all books. No
books should be completely banned from any town, province, or country. A bookis like music.
Some enjoy the loud crashes of war with a rhythm of gripping tension. Others take in the sweet
strums of sappy love, a heartfelt keel to the perfect love story. What I am trying to say here is
that music, much like books, is subjective. There would only be one genre of music if we all
enjoyed the same slow waltz. This is the same with books. A country singer who only reads
hunting books and gun magazines is not going to enjoy a book based on a semi illiterate, small
town, black lesbian from the early 1900 s life, and that s okay. Such a story may be considered
scandalous to this back road trucker. Yet that is still not an excuse to ban the throaty song that is
A Color Purple because you enjoy slapstick comedy. There are other people out there who would
enjoy such a book and your banning is only making it harder for them to find... Show more content

A book labelled mature only means that adult situations take place, which teenagers can handle.
A friend of mine is extremely interested in mature reads that she finds on certain websites. My
father, at the age of fifty five no less, simply adores dumb comedies. These two don t
communicate, much less about their reading habits, but that does not mean one of their
preferences are wrong. It is more of a difference in their brains make up that . . . make up their
differences. So the forcing of literature one doesn t prefer down their throat is a bad practice and
banning books is part of such practice. Stop the banning of literature because one person or group

The Moral Ambivalence Of Crime Summary
The Moral Ambivalence of Crime Response
In Reiman story, The Moral Ambivalence of Crime in an Unjust Society, the author tells how one
experience in the summer of 2005 shaped his view on crime after writing and thinking about it for
over thirty five years. While in France on a summer vacation with his wife, they become a victim
of a crime where the assailants grabbed what they could, a duffle bag and his wife s purse, and ran
off. He stated that when the instant first occurred he was so angry that he may have killed them if
he could have caught up with them, but after a few days, he didn t worry about it and his wife and
he had a wonderful vacation. The author concluded that after having time to think over the
situation, he believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the author was in France, he expected this safety, but he was robbed of the safety when the
criminals broke the moral agreement of the law and disturbed the peace. The criminals were from
the ghettos of France and the author stated that they couldn t have been older than fourteen. The
society in France is not based upon John Rawls s difference principle which states that the just
society benefits the least advantaged yet the world does not function this way. From birth, the
children living in this ghetto were at a disadvantage. The criminals were not born to break the
social contract and disturb the peace, but the strain from the lack of resources and others having
more caused them to turn to crime as a viable solution. This example of distributive injustice was a
primary cause of the crime that these kids committed and the author acknowledges this and states
that he understands the choices these kids made and in turn does not want them punished for taking
what they think is theirs, but rather taking their sense of stability and predictability. Consensus
theorists want to know the origin of the crime and they believe that the environment are relevant to
fostering a criminal. The author s purpose for writing this article was to bring to the public s mind
that breaking a crime is not just black and white, but often falls into a grey

Vernier Gas Pressure Lab Report
In this lab, I worked with three other partners: Alexis Koch, Scott Webb, and Nicholas Coffey. In
the first portion of the lab, our goal was to discover the relationship between pressure and volume.
We began the experiment by plugging in the Vernier computer interface and the Vernier Gas
Pressure Sensor to the computer and started the Logger Pro software. We prepared the 20 milliliter
gassyringe to be placed into the Vernier Gas PressureSensor by putting approximately 12
milliliters of air into it. We did this to easily maneuver the syringe to different amounts of
volume. We began to collect data from the Logger Pro at various amounts of volume from 1 to
20 milliliters. We recorded 239.59, 227.50, 122.50, 100.50, 83.05, and 63.03 kPa at 0, 5, 10, 12, 15,
and 20 milliliters. From plugging my data into Microsoft Excel and making a graph, I was able to
conclude that volume and pressure have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According the my Pressure and Volume Relationship graph, as the volume goes up the pressure
goes down and vice versa. I know that this is true because of the negative slope of the equation of
my trendline which is y= 9.8009x + 239.3; additionally, my R2 value is 0.8994, which concludes
that the data we recorded is valid data.
The other portion of the lab was finding the relationship between pressure and temperature. We
started the experiment by constructing the device in which we would us to record the pressure at
different temperatures. We prepped for the experiment by turning on the hotplate and giving it time
to heat up, putting water into a large beaker, plugging the temperature Probe into the computer,
placing the rubber stopper into the Erlenmeyer flask, and connecting the pressure tube into the
rubber stopper. Next, we used a ring stand to lower the Erlenmeyer flask into the water

  • 2. Essay On The Battle For San Juan Heights In the early months of 1898, fundamental events took place in fairly rapid succession that led up to the Spanish American War and in turn the Battle for San Juan Heights. Together, these events solidified U.S. public opinion towards the U.S. involvement in a war to liberate Cuba from Spanish rule. A war some saw as a necessity to end the appalling conditions on an island so close to the American mainland. Some American officials including the U.S. Consul general in Havana, Fitzhugh Lee, believed that it was only a matter of time before Cubawould be annexed by United States. (The Spanish American War: American Wars and the Media in Primary Document, W. Joseph Campbell 2005). There are many ways insects can be used to help solve a crime, but the primary purpose of forensic entomology is estimating time since death.Once a person dies his or her body starts to decompose. The decomposition of a dead body starts with the action of microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria, followed by the action of a series of insects (arthropods). Bodies decompose slowly or fast depending on weather conditions, if they have been buried or are exposed to the elements, if there is presence of insects or if they have a substance in their bodies that prevents their fast decomposition such as body size and weight, clothing,The dead body goes through constant changes ... • 4. Aggregate Demand And Supply Essay examples AGGREGATE DEMAND AND SUPPLY AGGREGATE DEMAND: Aggregate demand is the amount which will be spent at different values of the price level. It is composed of consumption (C), investment (I), government spending (6) and net exports (X M). THE AGGREGATE DEMAND CURVE: The aggregate demand curve shows the quantity of goods and services which households, firms, overseas buyers and government are prepared to buy at different values of the general price level. It is drawn on the assumption that other things (e.g. the money supply, rates of taxation, the marginal propensity to consume) remain unchanged. Figure 28. I shows an aggregate demand curve. If the general price level falls people s purchasing power will increase, the transactions demand for money will fall causing a reduction in interest rates and domestic goods and services will become more price competitive. ____________________________________________ THE SHAPE OF THE AGGREGATE DEMAND CURVE: One group of economists, Keynesians, believe the aggregate demand curve is steep. This is because they think that a rise in the general price level will have only a small impact on the rate of interest and this in turn will have only a small impact on consumption and investment. They argue that the demand for money is dominated by the speculative rnotive. This is interest elastic so that an increase in demand for money will cause only a small rise in the rate of interest. In their view the main influence on both consumption and investment is income and not the rate of interest. The implication of the aggregate demand curve being steep is that a change in the general price level will not significantly alter aggregate demand. In contrast new classical economists believe the aggregate demand curve is shallow, they think the main component of the demand for money is the transactions demand. This is interest inelastic so if a rise in the general price level leads to an increase in demand for money there may be a large rise in the rate of interest. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange Choice and free will are necessary to maintain humanity, both individually and communally; without them, man is no longer human but a clockwork orange , a mechanical toy, as demonstrated in Anthony Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange . The choice between good and evil is a decision every man must make throughout his life in order to guide his actions and control his future. Forcing someone to be good is not as important as the act of someone choosing to be good. This element of choice, no matter what the outcome, displays man s power as an individual. If one cannot choose, one ceases to be human and is exactly like a machine controlled by the government. After Alex undergoes the Ludovico Technique, he stops asking what s it going to be then, eh? only to prove that Alex has lost his free will. Alex s question that was so prominent disappears and the mere thought of violence makes him physically ill. Dr Branom explains the effects of the technique to Alex : you are being made sane, you are being made healthy . Riddled with hurricanes, tribal warfare, harsh winters, and other difficulties, it seems like colonial America should ve been decimated without constant support from Great Britain. And with benign negligence from Great Britain, Colonial America started to understand they could in fact hold their own as a group of colonies, but not without vast intellectual and economic innovation and progress to overcome the disasters of famine, weather, and the wild nature of the American continent. Colonial America saw these dangers and knew there was a need for a system to gather the most food and provide the most work; that system came to be known as capitalismafter socialist like communes failed their colonies. It is important to understand where American colonies started during their settlement. Capitalism wasn t created out of thin air by the Americans, and they certainly didn t start out with the system from the beginning. In fact, the first American settlements in the early 1600s were set up with a communal stock of foodstuffs and with all land being publically owned; settlers were to take what they needed from these stocks of food and return what they could return, while the food was supplied by land worked on by all. • 13. Theme Of Angel In The House In Jane Eyre Jane Eyre is a novel written by Charlotte BrontГ«. It is distinctly a female Bildungsroman, as it follows the progress and growth of Jane s character on her quest for selfhood and independence in a society that tries its best to impress upon her the roles and expectations of women in the Victorian era (which is neatly packaged in the figure of the Angel in the house .) This is something with which this essay seeks to engage by looking at female figures which feature prominently in Jane s life, how those who embrace the figure of Angel in the house are treated and viewed, versus those who do not. • 22. Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project that they want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their own gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out your spring garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can not be planted to close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they are planted next too. They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That is why a map is certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a picture of your yard. If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow them to draw a sketch first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the garden, sit down with them and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than one child, why not give each of them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up how and where they want to plantthe seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this lesson is measure the distance between each plant. My mission is to unify the societies. And this is my first day of working as the president position. When I walk into the Union Buildings, I can see the White staffs are bitter and disrespect through their body language and action such as eyes cat down, arms folded and some of them turn away from me with the belongings in their hands. Understand their thinking and feeling, I organize a small meeting to convince the staffs to stay with me and run the government with their hearts. And when Jason, my bodyguard asks me for more men, I decide to use SAS staff because this is the opportunity to show the citizens that South Africa is different now and we have to look into the future, I know Jason does not like this but I say with him Forgiveness start here. Few days later, I attend the rugby match between Springbok and England. This match likely to present the entrenched problems in South African community. I can see how serious the situation is when the Black cheering England team and the White sport fans support the old ways with their outdated flags. Moreover, when I arrive there are many aggressive people throw beer cans to me. At that day, our team lose. Based on the bad result, National Sport Council decides to eliminate the emblem and colour of Springbok because they represent apartheid through the colour of the uniform. As a leader of the whole nation, I believe rugby is the symbol of South Africa and Springbok is the factor for reunification without using any power or taking away White South African their most valued traditions. • 24. An Analysis Of Nickel And Dimed By Barbara Ehrenreich Nickel and Dimed Analysis 1. What is the topic? Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich is the autobiography of when Barbara went undercover to find out more about the life of a medium wage worker. She first goes to work in Key West, Florida at the restaurant Hearthside . She had worked there for a couple of weeks realizing how incredibly strenuous it was being a waitress especially when under a boss named Phillip that is constantly bickering and ranting on how poor of a job she is doing by having a conversation with the customers and giving too much bread. In Florida Barbara attempts to work two jobs at once at another restaurant named Jerrys however after about two days she decides to quit at Heartside and work full time at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main claim of the book Nickel and Dimed would be that living life on medium wage was and still is an incredibly laborious action to be able to complete. Barbara shows how even with two jobs she would have trouble paying for a place to live, food to eat, and other essentials. It was such a miserable process that at one point when Barbara Ehrenreich spilled dirty water all over her shoes there was absolutely no way for her to change shoes. Those pairs of grimy and soaked shoes were the only pair of shoes she had and did not have enough to buy a new pair which meant she needed to fight through it (85). 3. Is the evidence to support the claim reliable? The evidence that is given to the reader in the book would have to be reliable considering the author has a wide range of background on the subject of low income workers. Another point would be that Ehrenreich does not give much of statistics except for when she tells the reader about how many people are working in medium wage jobs. This all seems to be reliable information because of how Ehrenreich is an educated woman with dozens of friends who are also experts in the field of how much someone is getting paid can affect their lifestyle. Ehrenreich uses the statistics in the first chapter of the book when she begins her journey talking about her plan and how she will be able to show how working as low income worker is an extremely strenuous task to complete. 4. Some know animals such as these to be scary; other people understand these animals to be a beautiful creation of Earth. Whether you are afraid of mighty beasts or simply in awe of them, it astonishes many people when they realize how few of them are still alive. Rhinoceroses, elephants, leopards, tigers, African lions, and many more creatures are all considered an endangered species, and we are the reason they are deemed that way. The one element all of those animals have in common is that they are valuable. Rhinoceroses are treasured for their horns; Elephants for their tusks. If any main predator species were to become extinct then prey species would no longer have any factors regulating their population. Therefore, the prey would have an overproduction of offspring which would cause a decrease in the plant life and have continuous damage down to the bottom of the food chain. Eventually, the major disaster that would occur is the exhaustion of the food supply. Even though poaching may seem unstoppable because of its supply and demand methods, many people and countries have banded together to help stop the destruction of species and the detriments that follow. One organization that is attempting to stop poaching is the Environmental Investigation Agency. The EIA has spread awareness to many different areas and has been informing the public about how vulnerable ecosystems are and the repercussions that will result if poaching continues. It also educates people on the simple ways they can help reduce poaching such as refusing any illegal animal items or parts offered to them. The United States, Canada, Taiwan, and Australia have also participated in the plan to prevent poaching. • 28. Oil Sands In this essay I will use the social issue of oil sands and its impact on climate change to critically compare the social order and class struggle perspectives in social theory. To examine the social order perspective, I will use the theories of Robert Merton and Harold Garfinkel. For the class perspective theory, I will use the theories of Pierre Bourdieu and Immanuel Wallenstein. The social order perspective explains the social issue of climate change in terms of how the social structures of the economy enforce and produce the ways in which people discuss climate change. Its main strength is that it identifies how the economy is able to shape discussions and create a sense of order around the opposing conflict of interest between the economy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Merton s theory derives from the fundamentalist perspective in which he defines manifest functions as the easily recognizable and intended outcomes, whereas latent functions are unintended. Merton argues the distinction between manifest and latent functions has significant value and that both functions need to be recognized as an approach to explaining any social phenomena (Powell 2017: Feb 15). Latent functions are not necessarily the anticipated outcome, however a closer examination of this function can lead to a better understanding of a social relation or patterns observed (Longofer Winchester, 2016). For instance, in applying the social issue of climate change to Merton s manifest and latent theory, it is clear the manifest function of oil sands is for refineries to extract the oil to produce fuel (energy source). As a result of increased reliance on oil sands as fuel, the process of refining oil and clearing land to extract the oil from these oil sands, releases tons of pollution into the atmosphere, creating the phenomena known as climate change. The perceived function of oil sands is not to harmful to the environment, however; it becomes the negative consequence of the objective. Although the manifest function does not recognize that the use of oil sands leads to an increased threat of the environment, the latent function is able to identify the relationship. This latent function leads to the reexamination of the use of oil sand and how our society collectively moves on about making informed decisions regarding both the production and the rate at which we use ... Conviviality, privacy and comfort are not compromised, allowing people room to relax and explore the amusement of a life clean in nature. As soon as Wright had chosen the area on which the house would be built, there was a clear issue building there. The situation was that the northern levee of Bear Run was too narrow to bestow a foundation for a house that would be built to his standards (Toker, 39, Fallingwater Rising: America s most extraordinary house). Apart from this issue, the Kaufmann s requirements needed to be achieved due to the fact that they had planned to have large numbers of people over and therefore it was required that the house be larger than the available plot size. In the essay Superman and Me, a Native American boy is empowered by his heritage to break through stereotypes of intelligence. Likewise, Stone Soup presents a single mother who breaks through stereotypes to see her differences as a normality. Although both of these authors are faced with harsh situations, these essays lead to unlikely empowerment in the end. Whereas Alexie perceives pride as encouraging others to look past stereotypes of race through intelligence, Kingsolver perceives pride in the strength of a single mother, a mother who doesn t make her children any less happy. • 49. Drug Usage And Its Effect On Today s Youth I m in love with the coco (a song depicting a love for cocaine song by O.T. Genasis), just one of the most recent songs to have explicit usage of drugs. Referring to drug usage and sales is a popular trend in today s hip hop and rap lyrics. As a society where do we draw the line with censorship of this material? Not only are the lyrics being said, but the drugusage is also being portrayed in the music videos; all the way from marijuana usage to cocaine and popping pills. There s no doubt that this type of music has a negative effect on today s youth, but by censoring, this variety of music are we in effect censoring the culture and reality that sings it. No matter the drug, no matter the era, they ve always played a major role for better or worse. The rap lifestyle has always gone hand in hand with drugs. The use of drugs other than weed seemed to be something that was not largely accepted until the 2000s. While sale of hard drugs, from crack to even heroin, has been promoted even to the point of glamorization, references to exploration would seep through the cracks every now and then. Many of these artiest choose to sing and rap about drugs is mainly due to the fact they grew up in poverty and in neighborhoods where this was a common occurrence to see. • 50. Why Should The Color Purple Be Banned Essay The book A Color Purple is regularly challenged because those in power cannot handle the past. They seem to forget that books are subjective. Some teenagers read more mature books than people thrice their age. Even if it is a mature read there is something to learn from all books. No books should be completely banned from any town, province, or country. A bookis like music. Some enjoy the loud crashes of war with a rhythm of gripping tension. Others take in the sweet strums of sappy love, a heartfelt keel to the perfect love story. What I am trying to say here is that music, much like books, is subjective. There would only be one genre of music if we all enjoyed the same slow waltz. This is the same with books. A country singer who only reads hunting books and gun magazines is not going to enjoy a book based on a semi illiterate, small town, black lesbian from the early 1900 s life, and that s okay. Such a story may be considered scandalous to this back road trucker. Yet that is still not an excuse to ban the throaty song that is A Color Purple because you enjoy slapstick comedy. There are other people out there who would enjoy such a book and your banning is only making it harder for them to find... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Moral Ambivalence Of Crime Summary The Moral Ambivalence of Crime Response In Reiman story, The Moral Ambivalence of Crime in an Unjust Society, the author tells how one experience in the summer of 2005 shaped his view on crime after writing and thinking about it for over thirty five years. While in France on a summer vacation with his wife, they become a victim of a crime where the assailants grabbed what they could, a duffle bag and his wife s purse, and ran off. When the author was in France, he expected this safety, but he was robbed of the safety when the criminals broke the moral agreement of the law and disturbed the peace. The criminals were from the ghettos of France and the author stated that they couldn t have been older than fourteen. The society in France is not based upon John Rawls s difference principle which states that the just society benefits the least advantaged yet the world does not function this way. From birth, the children living in this ghetto were at a disadvantage. The criminals were not born to break the social contract and disturb the peace, but the strain from the lack of resources and others having more caused them to turn to crime as a viable solution. This example of distributive injustice was a primary cause of the crime that these kids committed and the author acknowledges this and states that he understands the choices these kids made and in turn does not want them punished for taking what they think is theirs, but rather taking their sense of stability and predictability. Consensus theorists want to know the origin of the crime and they believe that the environment are relevant to fostering a criminal. The author s purpose for writing this article was to bring to the public s mind that breaking a crime is not just black and white, but often falls into a grey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Vernier Gas Pressure Lab Report In this lab, I worked with three other partners: Alexis Koch, Scott Webb, and Nicholas Coffey. In the first portion of the lab, our goal was to discover the relationship between pressure and volume. We began the experiment by plugging in the Vernier computer interface and the Vernier Gas Pressure Sensor to the computer and started the Logger Pro software. We prepared the 20 milliliter gassyringe to be placed into the Vernier Gas PressureSensor by putting approximately 12 milliliters of air into it. We did this to easily maneuver the syringe to different amounts of volume. We began to collect data from the Logger Pro at various amounts of volume from 1 to 20 milliliters. We recorded 239.59, 227.50, 122.50, 100.50, 83.05, and 63.03 kPa at 0, 5, 10, 12, 15, and 20 milliliters. The other portion of the lab was finding the relationship between pressure and temperature. We started the experiment by constructing the device in which we would us to record the pressure at different temperatures. We prepped for the experiment by turning on the hotplate and giving it time to heat up, putting water into a large beaker, plugging the temperature Probe into the computer, placing the rubber stopper into the Erlenmeyer flask, and connecting the pressure tube into the rubber stopper. Next, we used a ring stand to lower the Erlenmeyer flask into the water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
