Spending the time to create a central organized resource for Acquisitions information greatly improves the ability of users to find information efficiently. This translates into more time for staff to do their work and greater satisfaction overall. So how can we create a better platform for Acquisitions information? After looking at the landscape of knowledge management tools in the Stanford Libraries Acquisitions department, I identified structure, linking, multimedia, and personality as qualities that were needed in a new resource. Focusing on these four methods of presenting information allowed us to create a resource that is efficient and pleasing to use. As the resource evolved, we found three major categories of information to manage: staff, management, and outreach from Acquisitions to other groups.

Gov4All :An open data and open services repository for supporting citizen-dr...Yannis Charalabidis
Open data portals have been a primary source for publishing datasets from various sectors of administration, all over the world. However, making open data available does not necessarily lead to better utilisation from citizens and businesses. Our paper presents a new framework and a prototype system for supporting open application development by citizen communities, through gathering and making available open data and open web services sources from governmental actors, combined with an application development environment, training material and application examples.
This is a presentation of Gov4All platform, a web site for managing citizen-driven development in Greece.
Collective Intelligence and Online Deliberation Platforms for Citizen Engagem...Anna De Liddo
This is the presentation of the keynote I gave to the The "Software Codes of Democracy: Web Platforms for New Politics Workshop, which was held in Milan, Italy 13-15 Sept 2013 http://codicidellademocrazia.partecipate.it/
Abstract
Social media are increasingly used to support online debate and facilitate citizens’ engagement in policy and decision-making. Nevertheless the online dialogue spaces we see on the Web today typically provide flat listings of comments, or threads that can be viewed by ‘subject’ line. These are fundamentally chronological views which offer no insight into the logical structure of the ideas, such as the coherence or evidential basis of an argument. This hampers both quality of citizens’ participation and effective assessment of the state of the debate.
Within the landscape of existing community debate and ideation tools, the talk will introduce a new class of emerging online deliberation platforms – coming from research on Hypermedia, Collective Intelligence and Argumentation – that enable more structured, engaging and transparent online deliberation processes.
The talk will focus on the description of some of these technologies and summarise research studies in which they have been used to effectively support online deliberation in the Education, Healthcare and Public sector.
The talk will conclude proposing reflections and future research on collective intelligence and online deliberation platforms to socially innovate and to re-engage citizens with the democratic process.

This presentation is prepared as a part of my talk on the openness (open data and open science) in the context of Society 5.0 during the International Conference and Expo on Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials. It was very pleasant to receive an invitation to deliver the talk on my recently published article Smarter Open Government Data for Society 5.0: Are Your Open Data Smart Enough? (Sensors 2021, 21(15), 5204), which I have entitled as “Open Data as a driver of Society 5.0: how you and your scientific outputs can contribute to the development of the Super Smart Society and transformation into Smart Living?“. The paper has been briefly discussed in my previous post, thus, just a few words on this talk and overall experience.

Links-up is a two-year research project that is co-financed by the Lifelong Learning programme
of the European Commission. The project started in November 2009 and is carried out by an international project team. The overall aim of Links-up is to combine and enhance the know-how of existing projects in the field of inclusion with learning 2.0 in order to promote better future e-inclusion projects and policies...
The objective is the effective dissemination, exploitation and sustainability of the Links-up project objectives, outcomes and deliverables. It supports the research results by dissemination actions promoting cross-national and cross-sectoral collaboration. The dissemination, exploitation and sustainability building activities included the following measures:
•‘Public space’ on the online ‘Innovation Laboratory’ at www.links-up.eu with a large number of resources for policy, practice and research;
•Early information leaflet and two dedicated project flyer (i.e. the ‘brochure’);
•Three newsletters at key milestones in the project;
•Press releases in the participating partner countries e.g. on the validation experiments in the United Kingdom and Austria;
•Peer-reviewed articles and conference contributions e.g. for EduMedia 2010, GMW 2011, eChallanges e-2011 and for elearningeuropa.info;
•Four Learning Dialogues involving key stakeholders in the project in critically reviewing the project results as they developed;
•International and national ‘Events’ amongst them Plymouth e-Learning Conference (PeLC) 2010, EduMedia Conference 2010, Online Educa Berlin 2010, NEXT Regional Conferences 2010 and 2011, EDEN Annual Conferences 2010 and 2011 and the eChallenges e-2011 Conference;
•Final Conference showcasing eight initiatives in the field of ‘Web 2.0 for Social Inclusion’ and bringing together about 40 participants from 22 countries;
•Concluding Webinar, mainly for the representatives of the 24 case studies, five validation experiments and other stakeholders interested in the field;
•Various activities in social software sites and Web 2.0 applications such as FaceBook, SlideShare, YouTube, twitter etc.
This report summarised the Links-up events and related conference presentations throughout the life cycle of the project.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.
