The document discusses developing a SaaS security playbook. It recommends educating teams on SaaS, inventorying data, understanding how to calculate and mitigate risk, defining security control responsibilities, and performing security reviews throughout the SaaS lifecycle. Lessons learned are to expect security controls to move to SaaS as applications do, decide which controls remain internal vs. external, carefully evaluate immature SaaS security capabilities, and use short-term contracts for flexibility.
Securing Software-as-a-Service: Cover your SaaS and protect enterprise dataPistoia Alliance
Fears about the security of SaaS have prevented many life science organizations from considering the cloud for managing life science data. This poster, presented at the Pistoia Alliance Conference in April 2011, explains ways that SaaS vendors descure solutions and considerations for life science companies exploring cloud solutions.
Cloud computing is becoming increasingly important for provision of services and storage of data in the Internet. However there are several significant challenges in securing cloud infrastructures from different types of attacks.
The focus of thisPaper is on the security services that a cloud provider can offer as part of its infrastructure to its customers (tenants) to counteract these attacks.
Our main contribution is a security architecture that provides a flexible security as a service model that a cloud provider can offer to its tenants and customers of its tenants.
Our security as a service model while offering a baseline security to the provider to protect its own cloud infrastructure also provides flexibility to tenants to have additional security functionalities that suit their security requirements.
The paper describes the design of the security architecture and discusses how different
types of attacks are counteracted by the proposed architecture.
We have implemented the security architecture and the paper discusses analysis and performance evaluation results.

MEKDA: Multi-Level ECC based Key Distribution and Authentication in Internet ...IJCNCJournal
The Internet of Things (IoT) is an extensive system of networks and connected devices with minimal human interaction and swift growth. The constraints of the System and limitations of Devices pose several challenges, including security; hence billions of devices must protect from attacks and compromises. The resource-constrained nature of IoT devices amplifies security challenges. Thus standard data communication and security measures are inefficient in the IoT environment. The ubiquity of IoT devices and their deployment in sensitive applications increase the vulnerability of any security breaches to risk lives. Hence, IoT-related security challenges are of great concern. Authentication is the solution to the vulnerability of a malicious device in the IoT environment. The proposed Multi-level Elliptic Curve Cryptography based Key Distribution and Authentication in IoT enhances the security by Multi-level Authentication when the devices enter or exit the Cluster in an IoT system. The decreased Computation Time and Energy Consumption by generating and distributing Keys using Elliptic Curve Cryptography extends the availability of the IoT devices. The Performance analysis shows the improvement over the Fast Authentication and Data Transfer method.

AWS Security Best Practices in a Zero Trust Security Model - DEM08 - Toronto ...Amazon Web Services
Zero trust security is quickly rising as a preferred alternative to traditional security approaches. The key enabling technology underlying the zero trust security approach is next-gen access which combines the critical capabilities of such technologies as identity as a service (IDaaS), enterprise mobility management (EMM), and privileged access management (PAM). In this session, we highlight AWS security best practices in a zero trust security model. Specifically, we explore securing the AWS root account, controlling access to the AWS Management Console, and the AWS Command Line Interface, and managing developer access to Amazon EC2 instances and containerized applications that run on them.
There are many threats to cloud security. The main treats arise from account hijacking, data breaches, inadequate cloud security architecture and strategy, insecure interfaces and APIs, insider threats, limited visibility with regard to cloud usage etc.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
Data Centers - Striving Within A Narrow Range - Research Report - MCG - May 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward. The continuous injection of capital by alternative investment firms, as well as the growing infrastructural investment from cloud service providers and social media companies, whose revenues are expected to grow over 3.6x larger by value in 2026, will likely help propel center provision and innovation. These factors paint a promising picture for the industry players that offset rising input costs and adapt to new technologies.
According to M Capital Group: “Specifically, the long-term cost-saving opportunities available from the rise of remote managing will likely aid value growth for the industry. Through margin optimization and further availability of capital for reinvestment, strong players will maintain their competitive foothold, while weaker players exit the market to balance supply and demand.”

• Just as enterprise applications and data are moving to SaaS,
security controls are also moving to SaaS.
• Decide which security controls will remain internally hosted
and managed vs. externally hosted and externally managed.
• Carefully evaluate SaaS providers as some controls are
immature and the ecosystem is evolving.
• Consider short-term contracts to allow flexibility to move to a
new supplier if capabilities or roadmaps no longer align to risk
tolerance.
