The document presents a hybrid modulation concept for five-level active neutral-point-clamped (5l-anpc) converters, utilizing a combination of three-level space vector modulation (3l-svm) and phase-shifted pulse width modulation (ps-pwm) to simplify the modulation process. This approach allows the effective control of neutral and flying capacitor voltages while improving DC voltage utilization, potentially applicable to other hybrid clamped converters. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in enhancing the performance of 5l-anpc converters.
