The HVDC Matiari-Lahore Transmission Project is an 878 km long transmission line, the first of its kind in Pakistan, designed to carry 4000 MW of electricity from coal-based power generation facilities. Funded under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the project involves advanced bi-pole HVDC technology with converter stations at Matiari and Lahore, and is expected to be operational for 25 years before handing over to Pakistan's National Transmission and Dispatch Company. The project aims to improve the power system by integrating various coal power projects and ensuring stability and operational efficiency in the national grid.
