Some of Hungary's most notable geographical features include Balaton Lake, the largest lake in Central Europe, and the Danube River, which flows through the country. Hungary has a long and rich history dating back to the 9th century AD and was once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Some famous Hungarians include Albert Szentgyörgyi who discovered vitamin C and Ernő Rubik, the inventor of the Rubik's Cube puzzle.
