Hungary is a country located in Central Europe with a population of around 10 million people. It has a unique language with letters not used elsewhere and family names coming before given names. Hungary is known for its thermal baths in Budapest, the largest city, as well as the largest lake called Balaton. The traditional village of Hollókő and its architecture are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hungarian inventions include the ballpoint pen and Rubik's cube, while traditional foods feature paprika and goulash soup.

4. Hungarian Sea
• Balaton is the biggest lake of the country. Tourists call it
the Hungarian Sea, but we just call it „Balcsi”. Thousands
of tourists choose it for their holiday destination every
year.

5. We have 10 national parks. They keep the natural wild safe
and their untouched beauty is picturesque.

6. Hollókő
• Hollókő is a traditional village in Hungary and UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Its name means "Raven-stone" in Hungarian.

7. Sports
• Hungarian’s favorite sport is football. Our most famous
footballer was Ferenc Puskás.
• We are also good at swimming, waterpolo and handball.
• We are 8th in the all-time Olympic Games medal table
with 501 medals.

8. Traditional food
• Hungarian kitchen is not as healthy as it should be.
• Paprika is a traditional spice of Hungary.
• The most well known Hungarian food is the Goulash soup, but
everyone’s favorite is the Chimney Cake.

10. The capital city, Budapest
• The largest city in Hungary with 2 000 000 inhabitants.
• Buda and Pest were two seperate towns, but their unification
was in 1873.
• The River Danube flows across the city. Buda and Pest are
connected by 9 bridges.

11. Sightseeing around Budapest
Heroes’ square
• One of the major squares in Budapest.
• It was built for the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian
conquest of the Carpathian Basin and the foundation of
the Hungarian state in 1896.

12. Parliament Building
• It’s the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary.
• It lies on the bank of the Danube.
• 3rd largest parliament building of the world.

13. Buda Castle
• Buda Castle is the historical castle and palace complex of
the Hungarian kings in Budapest.
• The castle is a part of the Budapest World Heritage Site.

14. Gellért Baths
• Gellért Thermal Baths and Swimming Pool is a bath complex.
• The baths were constructed during the Turkish period (1541–
1686) served both bathing and medicinal purposes.

15. Fisherman’s Bastion
• Fisherman's Bastion ( called Halászbástya) is the panoramic
viewing terrace with fairy tale towers.

16. Sziget Festival
• The Sziget Festival is one of the largest music and cultural
festivals in Europe. It is held every August.

17. City Park
• City Park (Városliget) is a perfect place to find some
green area in the city. In the City Park in winter you can
enjoy ice skating on one of the largest artificial ice
surfaces in the world.

18. Our School
• Teleki Blanka Gymnasium is located next to the city park.

19. • It was established in 1868 and nowadays it is one of the oldest
schools in Budapest.

20. • It was named after Teleki Blanka. She was the first person
who opened a school for girls in Budapest where professional
teachers were working. Her sculpture is standing in front of
the entrace of our school.

21. • Learning foreign languages in our school is very
important. There’s an intensive year of language learning
when you mainly study English, but you also have to
choose a second language as well. It can be French, Italian
or German. After this year you start your high school
studies.

22. • One of our traditions is the freshman camp, where the
new students take part in funny games and they are able
to know each other. It lasts 3 days every August.

23. • The day of Science is a day when plenty of lectures are held by
doctors, scientists, historians and professor. Every students
find here what they are interested in.

24. • The school always organises trips to foreign countries around
Europe, where the students have the chane to get to know other
cultures, other traditions. The last trip was to England.
