Humanism theory focuses on human nature. The major focus of the humanistic approach in education is the development of the whole student with an emphasis on the emotional aspects. Some basic principles of the humanistic approach are that students will learn best what they want and need to know, knowing how to learn is more important than acquiring knowledge, and self-evaluation is the only meaningful way to evaluate a student's work.
