The efficiency and quality of a feature descriptor are critical to the user experience of many computer vision applications. However, the existing descriptors are either too computationally expensive to achieve real-time performance, or not sufficiently distinctive to identify correct matches from a large database with various transformations. In this paper, we propose a highly efficient and distinctive binary descriptor, called local difference binary (LDB). LDB directly computes a binary string for an image patch using simple intensity and gradient difference tests on pair wise grid cells within the patch. A multiple-gridding strategy and a salient bit-selection method are applied to capture the distinct patterns of the patch at different spatial granularities. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to the existing state-of-the-art binary descriptors, primarily designed for speed, LDB has similar construction efficiency, while achieving a greater accuracy and faster speed for mobile object recognition and tracking tasks.

Friction welding method is one of the most simple, economical and highly productive method in joining dissimilar materials. It is widely used in the automotive, medical and aerospace industrial applications. The purpose of this present work was to assess the development of solid state juncture of dissimilar materials of H30 aluminum and BS970 mild steel. The joints were obtained by Friction Welding (FW) process, which combines the heat generated from friction between two surfaces. The results were analyzed by means of tensile, Rockwell hardness test and metallographic tests. Solid state welding processes are characterized by the absence of melting and the formation of narrow heat affected zone (HAZ). The metallurgical properties are usually excellent and most of the processes can be mechanized or automated to be used as high production rate processes. The FW proves to be a great method for obtaining junctures between dissimilar materials which is not possible by fusion welding process.

Present research focuses on the quality improvement at Himachal Pradesh based manufacturing unit a precision machining company for two and three wheeler components. The objective of present research focuses on current Quality Management System (QMS) implemented and to identify the current quality problems that the company faces and to study. Present research is divided into two parts Ethnographic and Qualitative research design. Recommendations and solutions to the problem faced will be suggested to the heads and supervisors, to improve the current quality system, as well as increase efficiency and reduce non conformities. This research only focuses on problem faced in the production section of the company. In the ethnographic part study is focused on plunging of workers and qualitative part research is focused on various causes of rejection. Lean manufacturing tools is considered as the pilot project to solve the problem. Various tools were used such as Multiple activity charts, Pareto chart, PDCA cycles, cause and effect diagram and control chart. With the help of lean tools, plunging of workers come to zero, better working environment is provided to workers, rejection has reduced o 12000ppm from 29000ppm and reduced the loss of organization from 4.02% to 2.79%. Retention of worker saves the training cost. Tool life also increased.

During the last some years in the world most particularly in the India as the cotton sector is progressing with high efficiently, significant technological advancement have taken place for the improvement in the process of ginning to increase the production of cotton fibre and to preserve the intrinsic quality of cotton fibre obtaining the maximum staple length of fibre without damaging of seed, producing lint free of trash and contaminants at the lowest cost per unit ginned. The function of the gin is to separate lint from gin to create two marketable products, fibre and seed. In order to improve the performance of ginning machines, it is necessary in improvement of the different parameters related to this machine to get the better result. The main objective of this paper is that processes/products are made for designing and analysis point of view so that the fatigue behaviour will be increases against all variations. As well as reliability testing is conducted for the better result for performance of the machine .The primary goal is to keep the variance in the output very low even in the presence of noise inputs. To find most effective parameter of the cotton seed separation machine and improve the performance of the cotton seed separation machine. These improvements are aimed at improving the desired characteristics and simultaneously reducing the number of defects by studying the key variables controlling the process and optimizing the procedures or design to yield the best results.

The electric field distribution in medium voltage roof top bushing is principally dependent on the geometry dimension and types of the materials used. The main target is to achieve a bushing design which has a good field stress control. Various combinations of conductive, insulated and earthed parts, connected with the bushing have been treated in the development phase. In this paper, two-dimensional (2D) axial-symmetrical model geometries of roof top bushing have been developed using finite element analysis (FEA) method, which is ANSYS MAXWELL software. These models have been used to obtain the electric filed distribution in roof top bushing model. The effect of the bushing permittivity, electrical conductivity, the width, length and the metallic interface on the electric field distribution in roof bushing structure were analysed. From this study, an understanding of electric field distribution in roof top bushing geometry may be attained, which may help in designing of medium voltage roof top bushing stress control. With the help of simulation result proposed the new design of roof top bushing and it is verified by different test.

Effective removal of dissolved solids in drinking water as well as waste water has gained considerable significance these days because of the high level of TDS. Adsorbents are popular and effective in the removal of dissolved solids in water. Activated carbon is one of the most effective media for removing a wide range of contaminants from waste water. Activated carbon prepared from waste materials is effective in removing the dissolved solids in water. This paper present the effectiveness of activated carbon prepared from coconut shell in waste water purification especially for the removal of dissolved solids. Amount of dissolved solids in waste water collected from the college premises was estimated before and after treatment with activated carbon. Waste water was treated with activated carbon prepared from coconut shell for a period of 5 minutes, 30 minutes and 60 minutes. Treatment for 5 minutes was not enough for the effective removal of dissolved solids. Amount of dissolved solids decreases with increase in time of treatment, and stirring for 20 to 30 minutes could bring it to a level well below the permitted value. Treatment for 60 minutes has reduced the TDS to a considerable extent.

Media has been a very important medium for entertainment and communications and the captured media was transmitted in analog form. Media providers do not want their end users to store and duplicate the streamed media because the end user can freely distribute the streamed media without any control from the source. Hence while dealing with media streaming, replay protection and integrity protection are the most important factors. The main aim of this paper is to implement the concept of WebRTC to stream the media between the participating end points which is a powerful tool used to incorporate RTC capabilities into browsers and mobile applications. The aim is to develop a secure media stream from an end point that flows through the Open Network Adapter to the Avaya Media Server (AMS) and is hosted by an application on the Engagement Development Platform. The Open Network Adapter with Avaya Fabric Attach is capable of securing the required flow.

Chlorophyceae made up the largest portion of phytoplankton at 46.45%, followed by Bacillariophyceae at 30.76% and Cyanophyceae at 16.38%. Significant correlations were found between various parameters - Chlorophyceae were controlled by total acidity, Bacillariophyceae depended on total dissolved solids, phosphate and BOD, and Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae were regulated by total hardness, total solids, phosphate and BOD.

One of the major problems faced by our environment is crop residue burning, also known as stubble burning. Due to wide availability of modern tools and technologies for harvesting, a vast amount of residue is generated in the fields. The common practice to get the fields free from such residue is stubble burning. Such practices pose a wide variety of environmental problems. Residue burning emits carbon sinks in air causing pollution which is harmful for human-beings as well as flora and fauna. This problem of stubble burning is not restricted to a single state or country but has been spread all around our world. So, there is an immediate need to monitor such stubble burns so that effective measures could be taken to protect our environment from such a global menace. Manual detection is not enough to monitor such widely spread problem. In this paper, an efficient approach to detect stubble burned areas in various parts of Punjab using remotely sensed images is presented which could be utilized to prevent the large scale environmental degradation. The paper is divided into three parts; first part containing introduction of problem of stubble burning, digital processing of remote images, second part contains the literature survey of previous work done in this context, third part contains the present work done and the results obtained.

STUDY ON INTERSECTION AT 26TH MILE, KANJIRAPPALLY

The spectacular growth of the automobile as one of the most convenient modes of travel has brought in its wake frustrating problems of parking, accidents, delay, congestion, etc. It is no longer sufficient to build roads of adequate structural strength to cater to the needs of vehicles, but it is equally important that the safe, efficient and comfortable movement of traffic and other road user is ensured on these roads. Highway intersections are nodes of road networks and accident - prone locations. They are the places where vehicles coming from different approaches and moving towards different directions interact and conflict with each other. Due to the conflicts from all users, more traffic crashes could happen at unsignalized intersection as compared with roadway segments. This study is fully based on the existing conditions of unsignalized intersection, including geometric design, sight distance, traffic control devices etc. The problems of parking, accidents and delay are also prevailing in the area under our study i.e. intersection at 26th mile. The intersection is an unsignalized one and therefore, the chances of accidents during the peak hours are very high. Since, it is a meeting point of a national highway and a state highway, the variation in the design speed of both roads also interrupts the traffic flow. Our study on the intersection at 26th mile mainly aims at improving the geometrical as well as the safety features of the intersection like accident control by signal installation, incorporation of proper sight distances, uninterrupted traffic flow without causing crashes, delay, etc.

A STUDY ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF TREATED PALM SEED FIBER EPOXY COMPOSITE

Synthetic fibers composite fibers are more widely used because of its great property. Natural fiber epoxy composite is found to be an effective replacement of some kind of synthetic materials. Oil palm seed fiber is chosen as fiber because of its easy availability, less cost compared to other fibers, renewable, environment friendly, non-abrasive, biodegradable and enhanced properties. Palm seed fiber being available easily is also a disposal of fiber from its industries. Being a green composite 0il palm seed fiber epoxy composite was fabricated. In this paper chemical treatment with NaOH and H2O2 and mechanical properties of oil palm seed fiber epoxy composite was studied along with the morphological analysis of SEM images were conducted. Chemical treatments provided better adhesion between the fiber and matrix.

AN ACTIVE PFC WITH FLYBACK DESIGN FOR INTELLIGENCE IN STREET LIGHT APPLICATION

As the requirement of energy demand is increasing due to rapid industrial development, it is necessary to meet the growing demand of energy. This can be achieved in two ways: find alternate resource to supply power or energy; or reduce the energy consumption of present resources available. The proposed work is basically the design and implementation of an intelligent street light of 50 W power output from the offline converter by using power LED. As power LED draws huge non sinusoidal current due to the presence of AC-DC converter, a Boost PFC and a fly back converter is used for better power factor and for dc voltage regulation. Along with this a PIR sensor and LDR sensors are also used. A PIC microcontroller is used for PWM dimming. This makes to reduce the power consumption in street light especially in urban cities in which most of the power is wasted in lighting streets during late night.

Paper presents a new energy efficient technique of three phase AC to AC voltage control using medium frequency pulse width modulation and extinction angle control. This technique is deployed to obtain independent control on speed and power factor of the three phase induction motor, using four semiconductor controllable switches. The technique has been realized using AC freewheeling switch. Power factor (PF) of induction motor reduces as it depends on the load parameters, thus induction motor draws more current, increase stator copper losses. Increased stator copper losses of induction motor causes depreciation of power factor and efficiency. Proposed drive maintains power factor of induction motor at unity for controllable speed of the motor. Thus reduces current consumption of the motor at low speeds. Stator copper losses also reduce and efficiency of the motor is improved. Advantage of proposed drive is its higher efficiency and unity power factor with simplicity of control. .If number of motors are driven using the proposed drive, plenty of power conservation is possible.
