Animal Farm Power Of Language
Animal Farm Essay
The novel Animal Farm was created by George Orwell in 1945. It was a story on how animals
rebelled against the humans and tried to live freely, but a main point in the novel was about the power
of language. Orwell shows in his book that the power of language can make characters act differently.
Some of the animals use the power of language for evil things while others did not. George Orwell
demonstrates the power of language in his book, Animal Farm, by using it manipulatively on different
characters.
Orwell demonstrates the power of language using Napoleon. Napoleon is portrayed in the book by
intimidating other animals, slaughtering animals and by being a sloth. Napoleon uses the English
language to mesmerize and gain power in Animal Farm. Snowball which only wanted the best for

we drink that milk and eat those apples. Squealer was sent by Napoleon to explain to the animals why
the pigs drink milk and eat apples. Comrades, he said, I trust that every animal here appreciates the

Blue Whale Adaptations
Despite its abundance, in quantity the blue whale is now considered to be an endangered species. Blue
Whales have been hunted for centuries, they can also be found in most oceans and because of this they
make an easy target for hunters. A unique feature of the Blue Whale is that they are the largest
mammal in existence they can grow up to 30 meters long and weigh up to 190 tons. Due to its size
they are the hunter s ultimate prize hence why they are endangered. Despite its size, its diet consists of
some of the smallest marine life such as, krill, shrimp and so on.
(Zach s Introduction.)
There are at least three distinct subspecies. The Blue Whale is found in the Indian Ocean and South
Pacific Ocean. Its habitat prefers the open ocean but can sometimes be seen offshore of coastal states.
The change in ocean temperature would also affect the blue whale s food supply. Stated are three main
regions for the Blue Whale which are North Pacific Atlantic also The Southern Hemisphere. It has
many adaptations that allow it to survive in its environment. It does not allow it to sleep. If it slept, it
would drown. Instead, it takes short naps instead of long slumbers. Has an extremely large fluke,
which allows itself through the water at a decent speed to escape dangerous situations. Its eyesight is
good in and out of the water but the best sense is the hearing. It communicates with other whales by
Vocalizations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Transition From Junior Secondary School
The transition from Junior Secondary School to Senior School is one of the most significant and
complex processes young people experience. They not only encounter the social and intellectual
changes of this period of development, but are also faced with a myriad of factors which influence
their lives after school completion, including making decisions regarding their future goals and
aspirations (Kohler Field, 2003; Tillecczek et al, 2010). One of the major issues that young people
experience is a lack of understanding of what it is they want to do in the future and the learning
pathways available for future success (Tilleczek et al 2010; Wyn, 2009). I recently overheard a
conversation between secondary school students who reinforced ... Show more content on

Anatomical Script of the Squat Technique Essay
Introduction
The squat technique is described as the King of all exercises (Bompa, 2002) as it is an effective
exercise that works a variety of muscles including the gluteals, hamstrings, quadriceps and
abdominals. This report focused on the lower limb muscles only. Understanding different types of
movement is important for sport and exercise to help rehabilitate injuries of athletes. Coaches and
trainers may find understanding the squat a good way to prevent injuries as it is an excellent way to
build the muscles of the lower limbs.
The four main phases of the squat technique are the starting phase, the downward phase, the holding
phase and the upward phase. The aim of this report was to fully understand the squat technique. This

The hamstrings contract eccentrically acting as the synergist and help the flexion of the hip to occur.
The Rectus femoris of the quadriceps contract eccentrically to help flex the hip, they are co
contracting with the hamstrings. The hip flexors may contract rapidly to stabalise the body on the way
down if there is a loss of balance (Wynsberghe et al., 1995). The adductor longus, adductor brevis and
adductor Magnus contract isometrically to prevent adduction and abduction. The Sartorius muscle
contracts eccentrically to cause flexion and abduction at the knee. The sartoris originates from the
anterior superior iliac spine and inserts onto the tibia. The adductor and abductor muscles at the hip
joint contract to prevent movement that may cause injury (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009).
Knee
On the downward phase flexion occurs at the knee, stopping at about 90 °. Both quadriceps, acting as
the agonist to flex the knee, and hamstrings, which mainly stabilizes the knee, act as an antagonistic
pair and co contract eccentrically to allow flexion. The hamstring is also acting as the synergist for the
hip joint (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009). The Sartorius acts as the synergist and also contracts
eccentrically to cause flexion at the knee (Wynsberghe et al., 1995).
Ankle
On the downward phase dorsiflexion occurs at the ankle, the tibialis anterior acts as the synergist in
this movement and contracts concentrically (Seeley et al., 2003). The extensor halluces

These two are very important for the elephant because elephants are herbivores and without the leaves
and grasses they would starve. The elephant doesn t look for shelter under a rock or in a cave so the
grass is nice for them if they rest there or if they decide to rest under the Acacia tree they can get food
and a little bit of shade from the sun. In a sense, the red oat grass and the acacia are prey to the
elephant because elephants eat it. There is no competition between the grass and tree to elephants.
There is a symbiotic relationship between the three. The elephant is a parasite to the tree and grass
because the elephant get something but the tree and grass don t get anything in return.
Acacia trees are both evergreen and deciduous. The can both keep or lose their leaves in the winter/
bad months. Red oat grass is evergreen. It doesn t die out during any season. It stays good the whole

The acacia trees are found in climates that are warm. They grow in Europe, Asia and Africa. They are

The Tax Of The Cadillac Tax
Description The Cadillac tax is a popular name for the highly controversial excise tax on applicable
high cost employer sponsored insurance (ESI) coverage imposed under the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Gravelle, 2015). Great debate ensued following the proposal of this tax,
which was initially set to be implemented in 2013, however differences in opinion between the House
of Representatives and the Senate culminated in the delay in the implementation of this tax until 2018
(Herring, 2011). It is a nondeductible 40% excise tax on the value of applicable employer sponsored
health coverage that exceeds a determined threshold (Lowry, 2015). The tax targets employer
sponsored health coverage plans that are considered to be overly generous or have relatively low cost
sharing requirements in an effort to raise revenue to offset the costs of implementing other ACA
provisions, as well as encourage a reduction in the growing expenditure and costs of national health
care and offset some of the effects of the income tax exclusion for ESI (Lowry, 2015). Applicable
coverage for the purposes of the Cadillac tax includes any coverage availed to an employee by an
employer that is excludable from an employee s gross income under section 106 of the IRC (Mach,
2015). Applicable coverage includes, but is not restricted to an employee s contribution to heath
insurance premiums, Health care flexible spending account (FSA), Health savings account (HSA),

Gang Stalking Research Paper
Organized stalking is a very well know reality occurring to an untold amount of people a crossed the
United States. Our U.S Government and intelligence agencies are fully aware of this. They are also
aware of its direct purpose of the slow destruction of the targeted individual s life this includes the
deliberate ending of their life. Mr. Ted L. Gunderson (1929 2011) retired from the F.B.I as Senior
Special Agent In Charge of the Los Angeles Field Office. In his affidavit dated 26 April 2011 he refers
to organized stalking by its slang name gang stalking. In a five page nine paragraph sworn affidavit
Gunderson stated, in paragraph one gang stalking groups and gang stalking methods reasonably
describes an ongoing, active, covert nationwide program that is in effect today, and, based on my
investigations and experience, has been operational since at least the early 1980 s . It is thought by
many and publicly stated by his long time friend and doctor that Gunderson s death was not
accidental. Gunderson s doctor stated in a video made public shortly after Gunderson s death that he
did have the signs and symptoms of someone who was being poisoned by arsenic. Gunderson also
believed and publicly stated he had become a targeted individual. The victims of organized stalking

systematic counterintelligence characteristic to the crime. Gang stalking also precludes the incorrect

better music? Who made more? Many of these questions can be simply answered by reading
biographies and watching documentaries. These don t however, answer exactly what their ideas or
beliefs are. Much of what they believe, or feel, is put into their songs, or even simply thrown out

How Did Christianity Change Over Time
Throughout the first three centuries, Christianity faced persecution from the Roman Empire. The
Roman Empire was one of the most powerful and influential empires in history. Nations under the
control of the Rome, associated themselves with Roman traditions. Even during the split of the Roman
Empire under, persecution remained and old traditions still dominated the areas of the Roman Empire.
Constantine, one of the Caesar s sons from the Tetrarchy, would go on to become emperor of Rome
and challenge old beliefs. Under the rule of Constantine, he implemented a series of reforms such as
the edict of Milan, Nicene Creed and changes in the culture of Rome, which shifted the empire
paganism ideology toward a Christian one. Christianity during the reigns of Diocletian, Galerius, etc

Health Rights Within The World Health Organization Essay
HEALTH RIGHTS IN CONFLICT/DISASTER CONTEXT
According to the World Health Organization, health is a state of complete physical, mental and social
well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
The above definition of health by the World Health Organization redefined the concept of health
among the different stakeholders involved in safeguarding people s right to health. Until then health
was merely seen as an absence of disease. But this definition helped the world to reimagining the
various dimensions of health. Thus it underscores the fact that health is directly influenced by the
environmental as well as social factors such as housing, education, food and a sense of safety from
physical as well as sexual violence too. Thus health effects of conflict and disasters are much beyond
the mortality and morbidity figures reported. http://www.uniteforsight.org/women children

Judeophobia? If the United States is so Islamophobic, then why would we troops to liberate Kuwait,
prevent Muslim bloodshed in Bosnia and Kosovo, or protect food supplies for hungry Somalis (Malik,

In Lord of the Flies and The Beach many leadership qualities are shown. These qualities are shown in

there is the destructive leader. Lord of the Flies was written in

then Piggy, said by Golding to be a short and very fat child, hence the name. Ralph s leadership

prospect of being free of adults and on his own in this strange island. As Piggy is franticly trying to
reassure himself that not everyone died in the crash, Ralph tried to be not too obviously uninterested

characters that you would classify as tricksters are Viola, Feste, Maria, Sir Toby Belch, and Sir
Andrew Aguecheek. Some tricksters are of higher class/rank while others are of lower class/servants.
In Twelfth Night , the tricksters are used to develop conflict, challenge social order, and create
comedy.
One of the most important tricksters of Twelfth Night would have to be Viola. After being

Cesario is really Viola in disguise. This is another example of how Sir Andrew s main purpose in the

The Ben Carson Story
When people hear the name Ben Carson they think of the neurosurgeon, who separated the Siamese
conjoined twins; Patrick and Benjamin Binder, at his adult age of 33. They will remember what a
tough process it must ve been on the parents, and especially on their mother, Theresa Binder after she
d searched throughout the medical world to find a team that would separate her twins while being able
to preserve both of their lives. There were other surgeon teams who told her it could not be done and
that one of her sons would have to die, which is a thought that she could not even bare. Luckily, she d
discovered the John Hopkins Team and met Ben Carson who was one of the neurosurgeons there and
was able to separate her twin boys keeping both of them alive. / Moreover, they will think of the
young man who was encouraged by his mother to work hard in school and read for a quality education
and the opportunity for him to achieve his all time dream which at his young age was to become a
doctor, though he was not very sure what kind. Ben Carson, known as Dr. Carson today was born in
Detroit, Michigan, on September 18, 1951. The second son of Sonya and Robert Solomon Carson, he
d grown up in the hard climate of the inner city Detroit. Ben had gone through a lot of struggles as a

Contemporary Hippie Research Paper
The Contemporary Hippie byline We all heard the terms hippies, hips, or hipsters which happens to be
a counter culture group that started in the 60s. What is this kind of lifestyle and who are these people?
Well for starters contemporary hippies don t like any of those terms because they can be presumptuous
to them. What does it mean to be a hippie? For Serge Obuks, 20 with Latvian roots, it s a lifestyle in
which he can live free of any constraints opposite to what most people feel like these days. You re
probably wondering what this means? Well since 60 s culture is far behind us and the new mainstream
being hip hop and the internet, things have taken a new form for the hippie lifestyle.
Let us take a journey to the 60 s. Baby boomers are said to be the leaders of this new found culture.

Evaluating Mission Statement
Evaluating Mission Statements
Mission impossible! To some companies, creating a quality mission statement is almost an impossible
challenge. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the mission statements of Home Depot and Nike.
The evaluation starts with an explanation of criteria for a quality mission statement; then assesses
whether Home Depot and Nike meet such criteria. The assessment will show that the mission
statement of Nike is much more effective than that of Home Depot. Nike s mission statement easily
meets more quality criteria.
A quality mission statement for a company follows certain specific criteria. In the article entitled

In the scholarly article entitled The Relevance of Mission Statements: Analysing the Antecedents of
Perceived Message Quality and Its Relationship to Employee Mission Engagement, Desmidt (2016)
proclaims that high levels of mission comprehension ambiguity in mission statements cause a
detrimental impact on motivational power (pp. 898 899). The ambiguity and length of the mission
statement fails to meet the criteria for clarity. The sheer length of space taken in the previous
paragraph to cite the mission statement serves as evidence of its failure to meet criteria for shortness,
sharpness, and specificity. In the textbook Strategic Management for Organizations, Abraham (2012)
defines a mission statement as a concise statement and declares, It should not contain statements of
values, strategies, or objectives (although many companies make this error) (p. 40). Home Depot is
one of those many companies who made this error by openly incorporating eight core values.
Furthermore, the length and vagueness also make the mission statement quite forgettable. The term
broad is used to describe the company s selection of products, but can also be used to describe its
mission statement. In illustrating the criteria to be realistic, Kotler affirms, The company should avoid
making the mission too narrow or too broad (as cited in Olsen, 2010,

Characteristics Of 20th Century Fantasy Fiction
20th Century Fantasy Fiction
What!
Fantasy is what dreams are made of. Fiction is what form these dreams take. Fantasy fiction
meanwhile is a genre which has its roots in legends, myths, magic, supernatural and the impossible. It
combines the ___of fantasy and the make belief nature of fiction to create an out of the world
(literally!) work of art. Fantasy fiction may not necessarily be only literature, it can be plays, movies,
shows or even video games. It is everything that is missing in the real world. Also the thing about
fantasy fiction is that we can never be sure that it doesn t exist because of the sheer detailing and the
fact that the magic world is hidden even in the story.
Why!
Children are often read to fairy tales. The stories about how the princess gets saved from the evil
queen, or how animals are our friends, or how monsters are evil and should be avoided. It s not
without reason that they are told these fantasy world stories. Since children s minds are a powerful and
imaginative thing, these stories help them to think creatively and can even define the direction which
they want to go early on. They also help develop critical thinking, teach right from wrong, boost their
imagination and also are a great source of fun. So it really comes as no surprise that young adults and
fully grown adults need a dose of fantasy fiction too.

General Mills And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
1. General Mills launched an initiative in 2013 to train farming families how to cure the vanilla that
they grow, in order to increase their earnings (Global, 41). One way that General Mills might be able
to approve upon this program is by making sure that the families know what is fair market price for
their cured vanilla, so that the families are not taken advantage of when selling cured vanilla to parties
besides General Mills. 2. General Mills is providing farm automation, equipment and training to
increase cocoa yields as well as to improve the education and health in the area. Part of this program
includes providing farmers with pesticides in order to reduce the amount of crops that are lost to waste
(Global, 42). One way that General Mills can improve this initiative is to make sure they are providing
the farmers with organic pesticides, which would reduce the impact of the pesticides on the
environment. 3. General Mills is currently moving their supplier base towards a supply which is more
traceable and is working with an organization called Proforest towards achieving this goal (Global,
43). General Mills believes that its purchasing practices can help push the industry towards buying
sustainably produced palm oil. While General Mills is making an effort to make their supply chain of
palm oil more traceable, the company could deploy on a program that would work with the indigenous
peoples whose rights are sometimes threatened due to palm oil production practices.

Pina Bausch Café Müller (1978)
Café Müller premiered May 20th of 1978 at the Opera House Wuppertal in Wuppertal, North Rhine

piece has become one of Pina s most famous choreographies and has been presented in stages around
the world years after it s first presentation in Europe (Baush).
Pina is considered as the creator of Tanztheater or Dance Theatre. After she became director of dance

The Tragedy Of Vladimir Lenin And The Rise Of Joseph Stalin
Some of the most tragic moments in Russian history occurred during the tumultuous period between
the death of Vladimir Lenin and the rise of Joseph Stalin during the 1930s. This was a time of massive
devastation during which almost 5 million peasants died of starvation due to the failures of collective
farming. Thousands of men and women were also falsely accused of anti patriotism and sent to
Siberian labor camps in which they experienced rampant disease, physical and emotional abuse, and
often execution. Vasily Grossman endeavors to discern who is to blame for these injustices through his
novel Everything Flows . Grossman s main character, Ivan, has just been released from almost a thirty
year imprisonment following the death of Stalin. Through Ivan s recollections of camp life and
assimilation into Post Stalinist Russia, Grossman reveals the forces he believes are at fault. However,
his understanding of this guilt is far more complex as revealed through the means by which he
evaluates the culpable factors. Grossman uses a method of assessment similar to a bottom up analysis
by beginning with the individual elements of the Communist Party and progressing to a larger holistic
view of Russian civilization. This method allows for multiple factors to bear some of the blame
without undue bias holding one entirely accountable. Thus, Grossman is arguing that the slave identity
embedded in Russian history was responsible for the development of certain characteristics in Lenin s

Observation Of A Child Observation
Over the past few weeks I have observed a child in the twelve to eighteen month old category.
Throughout this paper I will refer to him as Z. I had five different observations, each for one hour at
the West Chester Area Day Care. I sat in classroom seven, in a little chair in the corner writing down
everything I observed about him. It was interesting to learn about Z as I watched him interact with the
adults and other kids that were in the room with him. Z caught my attention right away in the
classroom. He was very active, walking around while the other children were mainly sitting or only
crawling. This lead me to choose him to observe for this project, and focus on his physical movement
and interactions with others throughout this paper. Z was always moving around, the only time he was
ever sitting still was when he was placed in a height chair for snack time. He switched between
crawling and walking. Most of the time he would walk, but then he would fall down and continue to
wherever his destination was by crawling. I noticed one day he was holding a maraca and walked for a
longer period of time than usual. According to (page 183 infants children and adolescents), it is easier
for them to focus on their balance when they are holding onto an object. He demonstrated the ability t
squat down and picking something up, before returning to a standing position. The adults encouraged
his walking behaviors, so when the group came in from the outside playground, they would let him
walk in, while most of the other kids were being pushed in the giant stroller. The average age for most
kids to begin walking is 11 months and 3 weeks, the range being 9 to 17 months, so he his definitely
on track for his age group (182). He was also able to climb up onto things. For example, when the
children were brought on walks around the neighborhood there was a giant stroller that they rode in as
mentioned earlier. Z got up the step and turned himself around to sit down in the seat. He did the same
thing on some of the steps on the playground, crawling up one and turning himself around to sit.
Walking up stairs with help is achieved on average at 16 months, so he appears to be on the right track
towards that motor skill. A baby s

What is Teen Dating Violence?
Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs
within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former

national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or
intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of

A Critical Thinker By Asking Questions
To exists and live on our terms we must convert our life into a creative project. Only by doing this can
we sufficiently challenge ourselves to reach our full potential and figure out what it is that we want to
dedicate our life to and how we wish to leave a mark in history. To make our life into a creative
project, we must consistently set goals and to be a critical thinker by asking questions. Unfortunately,
some obstacles prevent us from living our life on our terms. Dependency and legitimacy are why
others have authority over us; however, once we are forced or reasoned to do something, be someone,
etc. they lose that power, and that s the time that we must take action. We are consistently ruled by
others and the norms that society established whether it is knowingly or unconsciously. The fact that
others rule us can eventually cause us to feel alienated and once we recognize that isolation, we begin
to rebel. For people to shift from being heteronomy to autonomy, each must go through the
Phenomenology of Rebellion. The Phenomenology of Rebellion has four steps: alienation,
recognition, confusion, destruction and rebellion. Recognizing that you can be more than you or others
think is necessary to the process of autonomy. Asking questions and being a critical thinker helps
become more aware of the broken social contract that governs us. We become more conscious of what
needs to be fix, change and begin to realize that together we have the power to make these changes.

purposes or have no effect on humans. Pathogens vary in complexity and those that remain are a direct
result of successfully adapting to their environments and evolving over time to overcome selective
evolutionary pressures. A more specific example of how disease causing pathogens can vary in

Therefore, virulence varies among isolated cultures, although the origins of these evolutionary
adaptations on a molecular level are all interconnected and can be studied though tracing genetic

past tried to directly tie the two phenomena together and confirmed that increased usage of antibiotics
were directly correlated with increased resistance to those specific antibiotics. A finding was
additionally mentioned that diversifying the antibiotics used to eliminate bacterial populations and
reduction in overall use of antibiotics would minimize the levels of resistance in certain bacterial
species most commonly found in hospitals [8]. Additionally, Studies found that certain bacterial
species with increased exposure to antibiotics are highly prevalent in waste water of hospitals. High
levels of resistance displayed in these populations pose as a major risk to environmental health if
released beyond clinical waste water systems. Untreated wastewater is therefore an immediate cause
of concern [8]. Thus, with this data from past and current studies, pathogens are not in themselves
rare, but virulence does vary due to increased exposure to antibiotics and gained resistance that has

The Sun and Its Features Essay
The Sun and Its Features
Changes in the magnetic field of the sun affect us here on earth in a number of interesting ways. This
magnetic field is caused by the flow of electrically charged ions and electrons on the sun, and if it didn
t exist, the sun would be a much more boring star. The 11 year cycle of the sun s magnetic field
accounts for many of the cool features of the sun: sunspots, solar flares, and aurora borealis. At the
beginning of the cycle, the magnetic field is weak and there are very few sunspots; later, at the peak of
the cycle, the magnetic field is strong, and there are many sunspots. Sunspots are relatively cool areas
that appear as dark patches on the face of the sun. They occur where magnetic field lines are ... Show

Well, when the sun is at solar maximum, the speed and density of the solar wind goes up, and there are
many more northern lights.
Another example of the way the sun interacts with the earth is solar flares. Remember that sunspots
occur when magnetic field lines are twisted below the surface of the sun, well, solar flares occur when
magnetic field lines are twisted above the surface of the sun. Solar flares are huge explosions on the
surface of the sun that occur near sunspots. They can release as much energy as a billion megatons of
TNT. You might think that this huge a burst of energy has got to effect the earth somehow, and it does.
Big solar flares send so much electrical energy to earth that they have been known to blow out huge
portions of the power grid, disable million dollar satellites, and even corrode metal pipelines. During a
solar maximum there are many more solar flares than normal. Because of this threat, we have
launched the SOHO satellite into space to sit between the sun and the earth and monitor the sun s
activity. It can give us some advanced warning if a solar flare is headed our way.
A third example of how the sunspot cycle effects the earth is more interesting, but also more
controversial. Scientists have found that the 11 year solar cycle isn t the same every time. The sun
goes through this cycle like a pendulum, but the pendulum is an unstable one. Sometimes the

Due to its size they are the hunter s ultimate prize hence why they are endangered. Despite its size, its diet consists of some of the smallest marine life such as, krill, shrimp and so on. (Zach s Introduction.) There are at least three distinct subspecies. The Blue Whale is found in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific Ocean. Its habitat prefers the open ocean but can sometimes be seen offshore of coastal states. The change in ocean temperature would also affect the blue whale s food supply. Stated are three main regions for the Blue Whale which are North Pacific Atlantic also The Southern Hemisphere. It has many adaptations that allow it to survive in its environment. One of the major issues that young people experience is a lack of understanding of what it is they want to do in the future and the learning pathways available for future success (Tilleczek et al 2010; Wyn, 2009). • 10. The Tax Of The Cadillac Tax Description The Cadillac tax is a popular name for the highly controversial excise tax on applicable high cost employer sponsored insurance (ESI) coverage imposed under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Gravelle, 2015). Great debate ensued following the proposal of this tax, which was initially set to be implemented in 2013, however differences in opinion between the House of Representatives and the Senate culminated in the delay in the implementation of this tax until 2018 (Herring, 2011). It is a nondeductible 40% excise tax on the value of applicable employer sponsored health coverage that exceeds a determined threshold (Lowry, 2015). The tax targets employer sponsored health coverage plans that are considered to be overly generous or have relatively low cost sharing requirements in an effort to raise revenue to offset the costs of implementing other ACA provisions, as well as encourage a reduction in the growing expenditure and costs of national health care and offset some of the effects of the income tax exclusion for ESI (Lowry, 2015). Applicable coverage for the purposes of the Cadillac tax includes any coverage availed to an employee by an employer that is excludable from an employee s gross income under section 106 of the IRC (Mach, 2015). General Mills launched an initiative in 2013 to train farming families how to cure the vanilla that they grow, in order to increase their earnings (Global, 41). One way that General Mills might be able to approve upon this program is by making sure that the families know what is fair market price for their cured vanilla, so that the families are not taken advantage of when selling cured vanilla to parties besides General Mills. 2. General Mills is providing farm automation, equipment and training to increase cocoa yields as well as to improve the education and health in the area. Part of this program includes providing farmers with pesticides in order to reduce the amount of crops that are lost to waste (Global, 42). One way that General Mills can improve this initiative is to make sure they are providing the farmers with organic pesticides, which would reduce the impact of the pesticides on the environment. 3. General Mills is currently moving their supplier base towards a supply which is more traceable and is working with an organization called Proforest towards achieving this goal (Global, 43). General Mills believes that its purchasing practices can help push the industry towards buying sustainably produced palm oil. While General Mills is making an effort to make their supply chain of palm oil more traceable, the company could deploy on a program that would work with the indigenous peoples whose rights are sometimes threatened due to palm oil production practices. ... • 27. The Tragedy Of Vladimir Lenin And The Rise Of Joseph Stalin Some of the most tragic moments in Russian history occurred during the tumultuous period between the death of Vladimir Lenin and the rise of Joseph Stalin during the 1930s. This was a time of massive devastation during which almost 5 million peasants died of starvation due to the failures of collective farming. Thousands of men and women were also falsely accused of anti patriotism and sent to Siberian labor camps in which they experienced rampant disease, physical and emotional abuse, and often execution. Vasily Grossman endeavors to discern who is to blame for these injustices through his novel Everything Flows . Grossman s main character, Ivan, has just been released from almost a thirty year imprisonment following the death of Stalin. Through Ivan s recollections of camp life and assimilation into Post Stalinist Russia, Grossman reveals the forces he believes are at fault. However, his understanding of this guilt is far more complex as revealed through the means by which he evaluates the culpable factors. Grossman uses a method of assessment similar to a bottom up analysis by beginning with the individual elements of the Communist Party and progressing to a larger holistic view of Russian civilization. This method allows for multiple factors to bear some of the blame without undue bias holding one entirely accountable. Thus, Grossman is arguing that the slave identity embedded in Russian history was responsible for the development of certain characteristics in Lenin s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Observation Of A Child Observation Over the past few weeks I have observed a child in the twelve to eighteen month old category. Throughout this paper I will refer to him as Z. I had five different observations, each for one hour at the West Chester Area Day Care. I sat in classroom seven, in a little chair in the corner writing down everything I observed about him. It was interesting to learn about Z as I watched him interact with the adults and other kids that were in the room with him. Z caught my attention right away in the classroom. He was very active, walking around while the other children were mainly sitting or only crawling. This lead me to choose him to observe for this project, and focus on his physical movement and interactions with others throughout this paper. Z was always moving around, the only time he was ever sitting still was when he was placed in a height chair for snack time. He switched between crawling and walking. Most of the time he would walk, but then he would fall down and continue to wherever his destination was by crawling. I noticed one day he was holding a maraca and walked for a longer period of time than usual. According to (page 183 infants children and adolescents), it is easier for them to focus on their balance when they are holding onto an object. He demonstrated the ability t squat down and picking something up, before returning to a standing position. The adults encouraged his walking behaviors, so when the group came in from the outside playground, they would let him walk in, while most of the other kids were being pushed in the giant stroller. The average age for most kids to begin walking is 11 months and 3 weeks, the range being 9 to 17 months, so he his definitely on track for his age group (182). He was also able to climb up onto things. For example, when the children were brought on walks around the neighborhood there was a giant stroller that they rode in as mentioned earlier. Z got up the step and turned himself around to sit down in the seat. He did the same thing on some of the steps on the playground, crawling up one and turning himself around to sit. Walking up stairs with help is achieved on average at 16 months, so he appears to be on the right track towards that motor skill. A baby s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Only by doing this can we sufficiently challenge ourselves to reach our full potential and figure out what it is that we want to dedicate our life to and how we wish to leave a mark in history. To make our life into a creative project, we must consistently set goals and to be a critical thinker by asking questions. Unfortunately, some obstacles prevent us from living our life on our terms. Dependency and legitimacy are why others have authority over us; however, once we are forced or reasoned to do something, be someone, etc. they lose that power, and that s the time that we must take action. We are consistently ruled by others and the norms that society established whether it is knowingly or unconsciously. The fact that others rule us can eventually cause us to feel alienated and once we recognize that isolation, we begin to rebel. For people to shift from being heteronomy to autonomy, each must go through the Phenomenology of Rebellion. The Phenomenology of Rebellion has four steps: alienation, recognition, confusion, destruction and rebellion. Recognizing that you can be more than you or others think is necessary to the process of autonomy. Asking questions and being a critical thinker helps become more aware of the broken social contract that governs us. We become more conscious of what needs to be fix, change and begin to realize that together we have the power to make these changes. But ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such bacteria are pathogenic and have the potential to be disease causing. This means that the remaining 99% are rather ubiquitous in nature and serve beneficial purposes or have no effect on humans. Pathogens vary in complexity and those that remain are a direct result of successfully adapting to their environments and evolving over time to overcome selective evolutionary pressures. A more specific example of how disease causing pathogens can vary in virulence involves the mention of antibiotics and their ability throughout history to temporary lessening the virulence of bacterial strains. The relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, virulence varies among isolated cultures, although the origins of these evolutionary adaptations on a molecular level are all interconnected and can be studied though tracing genetic elements of between bacterial populations and those found in animals and humans [3]. Studies in the past tried to directly tie the two phenomena together and confirmed that increased usage of antibiotics were directly correlated with increased resistance to those specific antibiotics. A finding was additionally mentioned that diversifying the antibiotics used to eliminate bacterial populations and reduction in overall use of antibiotics would minimize the levels of resistance in certain bacterial species most commonly found in hospitals [8]. Additionally, Studies found that certain bacterial species with increased exposure to antibiotics are highly prevalent in waste water of hospitals. High levels of resistance displayed in these populations pose as a major risk to environmental health if released beyond clinical waste water systems. Untreated wastewater is therefore an immediate cause of concern [8]. Thus, with this data from past and current studies, pathogens are not in themselves rare, but virulence does vary due to increased exposure to antibiotics and gained resistance that has spread and will continue to do so unless habits are changed with a ... This magnetic field is caused by the flow of electrically charged ions and electrons on the sun, and if it didn t exist, the sun would be a much more boring star. The 11 year cycle of the sun s magnetic field accounts for many of the cool features of the sun: sunspots, solar flares, and aurora borealis. At the beginning of the cycle, the magnetic field is weak and there are very few sunspots; later, at the peak of the cycle, the magnetic field is strong, and there are many sunspots. Well, when the sun is at solar maximum, the speed and density of the solar wind goes up, and there are many more northern lights. Another example of the way the sun interacts with the earth is solar flares. Remember that sunspots occur when magnetic field lines are twisted below the surface of the sun, well, solar flares occur when magnetic field lines are twisted above the surface of the sun. Solar flares are huge explosions on the surface of the sun that occur near sunspots. They can release as much energy as a billion megatons of TNT. You might think that this huge a burst of energy has got to effect the earth somehow, and it does. Big solar flares send so much electrical energy to earth that they have been known to blow out huge portions of the power grid, disable million dollar satellites, and even corrode metal pipelines. During a solar maximum there are many more solar flares than normal. Because of this threat, we have launched the SOHO satellite into space to sit between the sun and the earth and monitor the sun s activity. It can give us some advanced warning if a solar flare is headed our way. A third example of how the sunspot cycle effects the earth is more interesting, but also more controversial.
