The Dalit Movement
Dalit Movement In Modern India
All those people of distinct castes and sub castes among the depressed classes who were
traditionally subjected to invidious discriminations on grounds of untouchability, and categorized as
the downtrodden, untouchables, depressed classes, exterior classes or Scheduled Castes were
called Dalits.
Dalit movement can be defined as institutional or organizational efforts made by Dalit leaders for
the liberation of the downtrodden masses. It is a movement of protest against untouchability,
casteism and superstitions. It aims at uplifting Dalits to the level of non Dalits.
The Bhakti movement was a reformative Hindu religious movement of the medieval period and it
promoted the belief that salvation can be attained by everyone. The movement is closely related to
Islamic Sufism, which appeared around the same time.
Since Hindu society was caste ridden society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It preceded the modern Dalit Movement by around 600 years.
Thus, the Bhakti movement served the Indian society in two ways firstly, it tried to bridge the gulf
between Hinduism and Islam, and secondly, it created a philosophical base for social equality and
set in motion a new trend toward social and spiritual equality.
The Bhakti Movement in South India was spearheaded by the Alwars and Nayanars of the fifth
century AD. Some of the Bhakti leaders like Kanaka Dasa and Purandara Dasa of Karnataka
contributed to literature. Sants Chaitanya, Kabir, Tulsi Das, Vallabha, Meera Bai Tukaram, and
others led the movement in the North. They taught that people could cast aside the rituals and caste
considerations and express their overwhelming love for God. Even though an untouchable ,

Gas Price Elasticity Essay examples
Gas Price Elasticity
The Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy began tracking weekly
gasoline prices in 1990 by means of a survey of 800 service stations around the country. The
average retail price for unleaded gasoline posted its fourth record high during the week of June 12,
2000, increasing 5 cents a gallon to an average of $1.681. The price at the pump is higher than the
same period last year by 56 cents and has risen 16.2 cents over the past month (Anonymous, 2000).
How far will it rise? What will consumers do about the dramatic increases that are occurring with
the arrival of each shipment? Price elasticity of demand would indicate that demand will fall as
prices continue to rise, which in turn should result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oil producing nations in the Mideast currently are meeting to discuss increasing production so
that crude prices will decline from its current price of more than $30 a barrel to the region of $25
(Georgy, 2000).
The American Petroleum Institute reports that 32.6 percent of the final cost to the consumer is the
refiner s share that covers the cost of refining and provides the oil companies with their profit
(Brodrick, 2000a). The government s share is greater, however. quot;Taxes account for 37.4 percent
of gasoline costs and averaged 41.5 cents per gallon in 1999, according to the institute. The federal
government s share is 18.4 cents, and the state takes about 23 cents. Occasionally, local
municipalities tack on an extra tax quot; (Brodrick, 2000a; p. 000215b).
The price is further affected by locale. The Midwest typically is one of the highest priced regions in
the nation because it is the most difficult section for transportation. Distance from refineries is
prohibitive, and refineries are saying that the current high prices in the region have resulted from
problems with using a pipeline that eases transportation costs.
The retailer s price increase to the final consumer is between 4 and 8 cents a gallon, meaning that
there is little option for the consumer to shop on price. Further, consolidation has been active in oil
as in other industries. A different brand name does not signify that the gasoline is being sold by

The Rise Of The Rest Barbara Ehrenreich Analysis
Barbara Ehrenreich is responding to the outsourcing of local news, writing to describe what is
taking place in different areas. On the other hand, Fareed Zakaria is writing The Rise of the Rest
to help people imagine that the world isn t really falling apart. Just because there are other
countries only growing bigger. This is when Ehrenreich is saying that jobs are being taken away
and is helping people understand that Zakaria s facts could be arguable. To begin with, Barbara
Ehrenreich, the writer of Your Local News Dateline Delhi is about this lady explaining her
personal insights about outsourcing. She was focusing on a frame that showed historical trends
in outsourcing, showing a series of turning points in the US about jobs being pushed out of the
country and into others. She explained how, yes, maybe other countries are getting larger to, but
also that doesn t have to mean that the US is getting smaller. Ehrenreich stated No, I don t resent
the Indians for moving in on the kind of work that I do...next time they should just get the idea
of cost savings and go for the CEO s job. (609 610) Maybe what she meant by this was since jobs
are spreading world wide, she doesn t mind if others try out for it, but she believes that they
shouldn t just go out for the first spot that is open, they should try something that is more paying
and maybe even more important. Fareed Zakaria, wants to help readers be interested in the

Psychodynamic Personality Profile of Johnny Depp Essay
Personality, like most core Psychology subjects, is difficult to define. Personality is essentially
the science of describing and understanding people. No two people are the same; even identical
twins will tell you that they are very different to their identical counterpart. There are some who
are anxious and there are those who are risk takers. There are some who are carefree while there
are those who are highly strung and there are those who are over confident while some are just
plain shy. It is this issue of differences that are fundamental to the study and examination of
personality.
Johnny Depp, born June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky self proclaimed barbeque capital of the
world has led an interesting life filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research also shows indicates that the Big Five has distinct biological substrates thereby linking
trait perspective with the biological perspective (DeYoung, Quilty Peterson, 2007). However this
convergence of perspectives is actually productive in that all perspectives by themselves have their
disadvantages as well as their advantages. If all perspectives can coincide with one another,
explanations of personality will become so much easier.
The psychoanalytic perspective is the most interesting theory of the analysis of an individual and
their personality. Initially developed by Freud during the latter half of the 1900s, it deals with,
among other things, the irrational and less predictable patterns of behaviour and human thinking,
which is what most other theories of personality often leave out and are criticised for it. In
understanding Johnny Depp, a psychodynamic perspective best accounts for his personality: as a
complete theory, it can explain his behaviour from when he was a child to becoming a famous
movie star, integrates other theories into its analysis, such as Evolutionary and Learning
perspectives, thus providing a fairly reliable and accurate interpretation of his personality.
As a kid, Johnny Depp had a troublesome childhood. His father was continually searching for
secure work in order to support his family, resulting in them moving around a lot, living in motels,
shifting from place to place. This no doubt took a

What Were The Advantages Of The Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution of 1917 consisted of two revolutions, first in February, which overthrew
the imperial Tsarist Government. The second one, in October, between the Reds and the Whites,
which placed the Reds (Bolsheviks) in power. As result, Russia was removed from the war and its
traditional monarchy was replaced to turn it into the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics. The
Whites weakness and lack of cohesiveness was a key reason for the Reds winning the Russian
Civil War, but it was the leadership of the Bolsheviks under Lenin and Trotsky that ultimately
brought the Red s victory.

study, scope and limitations, data gathering process and the research design and methodology. 1.1
Background and Rationale of the Study
Airsoft is one of the newest and fastest growing sport in the Philippines. It is somewhat similar to
paintball in that your primary goal is to shoot your opponent with an air powered weapon but that
is where the similarities end. Most paintballers play in small field with brightly colored flashy
uniforms. Airsofter s on the other hand prefer MilSim (Military Simulation).
Devised to be an example of combat sports that required relatively little preparation but was capable
of entertaining participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to the guns themselves in airsoft, there are three styles of systems they use to fire
the BB pellets. You have electric powered gun, or AEG s (automatic electric guns). This is most
popular type of airsoft gun.
Airsoft entails not only shooting skills, but also physical strength and mental ability for you to
achieve efficiently all the objectives set in every game. May the best team win, said Team SCAR
president Jeson L. Guardo.
As people nowadays are drawn into outdoor sports, this study introduces new exciting activities to
try on in the city. This study aids the need of the airsoft enthusiast for a proper gaming area with
additional courses related to the battle field games for a more realistic and adrenalin rush game.
Airsoft Adventure Park offers airsoft plus high and low courses to enjoy for bonding, personal
development and team building purposes.
1.2 Objectives of the Study
The main objective of this study is to determine the viability and profitability of an airsoft adventure
part in Conel, General Santos City. Specifically, the study aims to: 1. Determine the profile of the
key players in the airsoft adventure park industry 2. Determine the viability and profitability of

The Theme of Carpe Diem in Francis Macomber and Capital...
The Theme of Carpe Diem in Francis Macomber and Capital Of The World
The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber and The Capital Of The World A lot of Hemingway
s stories deal with life and death. Death even found it s way into some of the titles we have read
so far. However, in discussing death, we first have to look at life or rather how a life was lived, to
truly understand what death meant in the particular instance. Both short stories, The Short Happy
Life of Francis Macomber, and The Capital Of The World deal with lives cut short by a chance and
accidental encounter with death, while the soon to be deceased seem to gamble and court death.
Both also seem to have secondary characters that serve as guides ... Show more content on

Robert Wilson is constantly reminding Macomber of how things work. He says things like We
all take a beating every day, you know, one way or another (7) or when Wilson quotes
Shakespeare and says ...a man can die but once; we owe God a death and let it go which way it
will, he that dies this year is quit for the next (25). Wilson is here serving as a teacher of sorts for
both Macomber and for the reader. Similarly, in The Capital Of The World, Enrique says, You
think of the bull but you do not think of the horns. The bull has such force that the horns rip like
a knife, they stab like a bayonet, and they kill like a club (35). Enrique is spilling much the same
speech that Wilson is. He is telling Paco that life and the world come at your hard and they come
for you. Both Enrique and Wilson are serving as Hemingway s voice as he talks to each respective
character and the reader about death.
So far the stories have seemed similar in theme, if and even in execution. However, the one
defining event in each story is what serves as the marker that separates Francis from Paco; one
who actually lives from one who doesn t even get the chance too.
As put in the title, Macomber s happy life is short lived. After the buffalo hunt, Macomber states,
You know I don t think I d ever be afraid of anything again...Like a damn bursting. It was pure
excitement (25). We can already see a change in Macomber. He went from a coward at the start of

Reality Of Presidential Election Essay
Reality of presidential candidates Connor Brown With the looming election drawing ever closer
the parade of losers (candidates) has come down to the final two. Only one can become
President and only one can keep the title of presidential candidate. Over the past year the country
has seen over 20 different people attempt to become the leader of the free world; and they are all
the same. At the very least they are similar, and by default very easy to categorize. 1. Who is this
guy? This is the candidate no one knows. This is the Lincoln Chaffey, Martin O Malley, and
George Pataki (google him). Lincoln Chaffey who said America needed to get on the Metric
system. Martin O Malley, a Democrat who made sense and said good things, but no one had ever

Oh, that guy? Really? Now this candidate is fun because they were known for something they
had done earlier and then return to the public eye to try and lead the country. This includes
Marco Rubio and Ben Carson. Marco Rubio in 2013 gave the Republican response to the State
of the Union address. Whether he did well in that speech was not important. The important thing
was that randomly during the speech he leaned over and took a drink of water. This speech was
joke fodder for weeks following the speech. What no one expected was for Marco Rubio to
return 2 years later and run a respectable presidential campaign. Ben Carson was famous for
being the first Neuro surgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins; and in 2015 he ran for
president. He did well in the pools for a couple weeks, but after the Oregon Shooting he said what
the victims should have done (not the most sensitive thing to do after a mass shooting) causing a
dive in his polls. After dropping out of the race Ben Carson endorsed Donald Trump and proves to
still be a strong supporter on the campaign

The Separation Of Foam Separation
Foam separation techniques are neither much widely used nor much research have been done in
this area lately. But due to the high selectivity, thermal stability and the ability to separate
components from very dilute solutions (as low as 10 10 mole/liter), it is worth being applied as
modern separation and purification techniques. Particulates that are to be separated from solution
are associated with surfactants and are adsorbed at the liquid air interface. Interaction energy
between the nonpolar hydrocarbon chains of the surfactantand the polar water molecules is less than
the interaction energy between water molecules themselves leading to organic molecules in bulk
water to be energetically less favorable than their presence out of the bulk water at the interface.
Foamfractionation, ionic flotation, molecular flotation, microflotation, froth flotationthese diverse
types of foam separation techniques allow the separation and purification of a wide variety of
components starting from detergents to heavy metal ions and proteins.
Gibbs adsorption isotherm, Young Laplace equation, Langmuir isotherm control the separation
parameters. The easy apparatus setting and simplistic separation process leads to its utilization in
analytical purposes and economically feasible industrial set up. Various variables like ionic
strength, length of chain, concentration of surfactants, Solution hydrogen concentration,
flocculants, concentration of complexing ions, flow rate of gas,

for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of 2014, is heart disease ( Leading causes of
death , 2017). The use of open heart surgery in eligible patients, such as coronary artery bypass

living with heart disease. The recovery phase for these surgeries is crucial for the recuperation and
future health of the patient. Dietary modification, exercise and personal health habits need to be

The three types of comfort are defined as (a) relief comfort the state of having a specific comfort
need met ; (b) ease comfort the state of calm or contentment ; and (c) transcendence comfort the
state in which one can rise above problems or pain (Kolcaba, 2003).
All of the dimensions of comfort must be met by the patient, the family and healthcare provider to
enable healing or peaceful death, return to previous health state and promote health seeking
behaviors (HSB). Concerning the adult open heart surgery patient, achieving comfort in the form of
relief, ease and transcendence is important for early ambulation, coughing and deep breathing, for
participating in physical therapy and performing health promoting behaviors such as dietary
changes or smoking cessation.

Persuasive Essay On Bulls
In the beautiful city of Pamplona, located in Navarre, Spain , the world renowned San Fermin
Festival is hosted. In the month of July from the sixth to the fourteenth, many come from all around
the world to celebrate and enjoy the festivities thrown. This one, nine day long event, brings
thousands together to experience this special occasion. The San Fermin Festival was originally

The Copyright of Procedural Art
Traditionally, creative works such as drawings, paintings and other pictures have been protected
by copyright law. Procedurally generated art can produce works that mimic a drawing, painting or
photograph, but there is a complication in defining the work as an algorithm or a creative work.
Copyright does not extend to algorithms, so the questions follows: Is procedurally generated art
simply an algorithm that should be treated as such, or is it a creative work that should be covered
by copyright law?
Procedurally generated content in general is considered to be produced by a program rather than
explicitly defined by a data structure. However, a program itself can be seen as an explicitly
defined data structure (Ebert, Musgrave, Peachey, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even so, when their user interfaces were compared there were a number of similarities. The judge
ruled that copying had taken place on that basis.
This precedent states that, in the UK, the end result of a program is what matters and that its
internal function is irrelevant to issues of copyright. Applied to Perlin s procedural art, this could
potentially be dangerous. If someone wished to obtain similar results to his they would have to be
wary of copyright law. Even if they could mimic his techniques without copying any of his code,
they would still potentially be found to have violated copyright since the end results would be
similar.
As well as copyright law, patent law could also be an issue. European patent law expressly prohibits
the granting of patents for programs for computers (European Patent Convention, 2000). Strangely,
the United States takes the opposite stance. It will not grant patents consisting solely of
mathematical operations, i.e., converting one set of numbers into another set of numbers, does not
manipulate appropriate subject matter and thus cannot constitute a statutory process (United States
Patent and Trademark Office, 2008). This seems very similar to the European system, but there is a
key difference. The US Patent Office will issue a patent for programs with a practical application.
To go back to Perlin s work, any of the

Why The Articles Of Confederation
This essay will examine why the Articles of Confederation; the first national compact that had
executive branch and legislative branch with limited national government power, failed to solve
national problems, inflation, depression. After the American Revolution, Americans were very
suspicious with a strong central government, as they think the United State government would
control over tariff and limited human rights just like what Great Britain had done in the past. On
July of 1776, John Dickinson submitted a blueprint for a strong national government to the
Continental Congress, however, his colleagues transformed his plan into a government that needs
the state s authority to execute any taxes, laws, or amendments. Since the national government
holds very little power, this created many conflicts such as tariffs, lack of finances to maintain the
army, no power to end rebellions. It was impossible for the Article of Confederation to solve any
postwar problems that America was facing at that time due to high unemployed sailors, debt ridden
farmers, and destitute widows and orphans.
The Articles of Confederation gives the congress to raise taxes, but the state has the authority to
deny to pay its expenses. The states paid roughly seventy percent of what they owed, most states
paid remarkably less (Georgia did not paid anything). This article negatively impacted America. As
America just granted independence from Great Britain, it was a very fresh country, the stability of

Officer and Noncommissioned Officer Relationship MSG Terwan Crawley United States Army
Sergeants Major Academy Class 63 SGM Johnny Williams March 29, 2013 Abstract The
disparity between officers and non commissioned officers (NCO) in the military still prevails on
the social and professional levels. The major issue of the relationship between these groups of
men is considered an issue of class structure which is attributed to the differences in the
educational levels between them. NCOs are treated in the same manner as a low category enlisted
men and as such do not serve as a bridge between the enlisted men and officers. This wide social
gap tends to make the learning process imprudent and ineffective. Many of the NCOs usually...

in the completion of their missions. Officers and NCOs as Responsible Leaders With great
authority indeed comes great responsibility. The commissioned and non commissioned officers
carry great responsibility, but the level of responsibility each individual carries is different

How Macbeth s Character Changes Throughout The Play

and playwright, Shakespeare wrote many plays which were performed for entertainment. In total
he wrote 37 plays. Shakespeare died in 1616. Macbeth was written by William Shakespeare in

happened in real life though. Shakespeare added dark and bloody elements to make the play more
exciting. This included the witches, which predicted the prophecies in the play. Characters 1.

Santa Clause leaned his head against the sled, letting out a long sigh. It had been a tough

The cranberry (or American cranberry) has properties that could regain urinary health, help
naturally relieve symptoms of cystitis. There is evidence to show that the cranberry or blueberry

The Impact of Invasive Species on Ecosystems Essay
Influence on ecosystems range from human causes like the bulldozing of a forest to natural causes
like a fire or a flood. In recent times, the introduction and spread of invasive species has
transformed native communities rapidly and, in some cases, created irreversible damages. In the
Earth s history, changes have often occurred in the ecosystems. For example, glaciersand the retreat
of glaciers cause wide spread changes. However, although change is a constant in ecosystems,
animals and habitats often cannot adapt to the rapid alterations of non natural stresses. Harm to the
environment from the introduction of invasive speciesoccurs through changes in the habitatand
declines in the native species. Invasive species... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Van Driesche, nonnative species are more likely to establish if they invade habitats
with lowered biotic resistance, encounter prey with poorly developed mechanisms of self defense,
or invade habitats unaccompanied by their specialized natural enemies or when their invasion is
facilitated by earlier invaders (2000). Damage to these communities, then, can be seen both in
cumulative effects and in a cycle of self reinforcement. Although pristine environments are still at
risk from invasion, this positive feedback loop makes habitats already with a disturbance by
exotics even more vulnerable to other invasions. With the increasing amount of disturbed habitats,
invasive species could soon become the leading cause of ecological degradation (SoulГ© Orians,
2001). Invasive species can alter habitats in a number of ways. Changes in the physical structure of
the land are the most visually obvious. Examples include narrowing stream channels, reducing sand
supply to dunes, and stabilizing surfaces such as mudflats, and each invasive species goes about
these changes in their own way. For instance, the burrowing activities of Australian isopods cause
the banks of tidal channels to collapse, leading to the widening of channels and the loss of
vegetated salt marsh (Cox, 1999). On the other hand, Japanese mussels that have invaded the San
Diego area are stabilizing mudflats. Although reaching Southern California in the 1960s,

African American Marginalization Analysis
What was the most definitive legislative act of marginalization directed at African Americans prior
to 1865?
In my view it s clear which legislative act marginalized African Americans the most, and would
have to be the implementation of lifelong servitude Virginia enacted in 1661. This legislation
would shape this country s use of slave labor and begin the process of marginalizing African
Americans. Now there are a number of other terribly oppressive pieces of legislation that would
further marginalize African Americans but it seems like this first act was decisive in that it
normalized the use of slaves through its ever expanding interpretation. I did not realise that before

unfortunate to read the various supreme court decisions found in the module 4 Pertinent Supreme

The House Of Sand And Fog Summary
Riain Flynn21 September 2014 Amstud periods 2 3 What Happens When Dreams Collide? In
The House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, there are an infinite amount of possible

The Prohibition Of The Nineteenth Century
During the 1920s, United States had begun a 13 years nationwide prohibition on alcohol. The
reason for such serious legislation was due to gambling, drug addiction and alcoholism problem
during the nineteenth century. However, the power of eighteenth amendment had exclude medical
and religious purposes alcohol. Therefore, the law created a loophole for home production and
medical alcohol.
Despite the fact that manufacture of wine, malt liquor and distillery had significantly decreased
after prohibition started in 1920; there were no significant change in alcohol sales and profits. In
fact, National Policy stated that the federal government had no authority prosecute small offenders
who possessed liquors. (Wheeler, 1927, p.1) Furthermore, many small individuals had started to
bootleg and sell illegal liquor throughout the country.
In Detroit, Michigan rumrunners or bootleggers had risen during the 1920 due to the National dry
period. During the first year of law enforcement, the number of drunkenness arrested were doubled.
(Hall, 2014, p.85) The crime rate had reflected the effectiveness of national prohibition instantly and
bootlegging had done serious impact to both economics and society.
After World War I, the United States had entered an age of optimism; Americans believed
everything will be fine. Hence prohibition was believed to be positive and effective under the

The Religious Symbolism and Architecture of Angkor Wat and...
Introduction
Built by the Khmers between 802 and 1220 AD, the ancient temples of Angkor Wat exist as the
remaining relics of a historically and religiously rich city. While many other historical and religious
structures in Cambodia have disappeared due in part from being constructed out of vulnerable
materials like wood, Angkor Watstill remains as a symbol of the divinity of its former kings, as
well as for the palace itself. Likewise, Indonesia s Borodubur temples exist as the single remaining
structures of the city. The temples of AngkorWat and Borodubur hold several similarities within
architecture and symbolism, both being heavily based on religious belief. However, different

Decorative elements through out the towers and galleries present their own characteristics and
fulfill specific needs within the temple. The towers are formed into the shape of the ever popular
lotus buds, and the galleries are used to expand the many passageways of the temple. Also, the
axial galleries within the temple are used to connect several enclosures. Characteristic decorative
components of Angkor Wat include narrative and historical bas reliefs, pediments, and devatas.
The bas reliefs located in the gallery of Angkor Wat holds a special signification for Angkor Wat.
The gallery displays heaven and the underworld in which garudas and lions are holding the
celestial palaces. These gerudas indicate that the palaces were floating in heaven, comparing
Angkor Wat to the palaces of the Gods. This display furthers the idea that Angkor Wat acts as a
liason between the world of Heaven and Earth. Because the palace physically remains on earth but
spiritually resides within heaven, the palace acts as communal place for believers to gather.
The bas reliefs and pictures did not only serve to decorate the palaces, or depict stories of the past.
They hold the important task of transforming the palace into a celestial dwelling or heavenly place.
Further evidence to support this notion is

Bruce Knauft and The Gebusi Religion
As anthropologist Bruce Knauft described, the Gebusi clan had words that described many
different aspects, examples included oil the Gebusi word for tomorrow and yesterday and owa for
grandparents and grandchildren, but the most defining one was kogwayay, a catchfall marker to
describe all of their cultural distinction. Because of kogwayay s branching terminology, kogwayay
is also the Gebusi s word for ethnicity, the identification with a cultural group because of shared
values customs and beliefs, while inversely excluded from different groups. One aspect that
contributes to the Gebusi s sense of kogwayay is religion. Through Knauft s book we see their
religious ways introduced and watch them change and adapt with the dynamics of cultural change
over time. As defined above, ethnicity is the shared customs, values and beliefs that the cultural
group shares that set them apart from other groups. The religion described within Knauft s
research is applicable to majority of those elements, making it a vital part of kogwayay. One of the
Gebusi s traditions is presented in the suicide description of chapter three. Dugawe, one of the men
of tribe, was found after hanging himself, and in Gebusi tradition the women massage the body and
cover themselves in the bodily fluids oozing from the decomposing body. While ethnocentrism may
come out in a majority of people, this is part of the Gebusi beliefs and customs that set them apart
from certain groups and bring individuals together.

Media Bias In The Media
The influence that the media has cannot be doubted by anyone. The media plays a very vital role
in our criminal justice system today. According to the text, Most people gain their knowledge of
events from the media, and therefore the selection and shaping of news by the media is a critical
element in forming and modeling the public opinion on most topics, including criminal justice. The
media decides what is noteworthy, and crime ranks high on that scale. (Banks, 2013) The public s
view of casualties, lawbreakers, deviants, and law enforcement officials is to a great extent dictated
by their depiction in the mass media. Crime in America is big news that is of significant concern
to the American public. In a 1997 national survey conducted by the Roper Center in conjunction
with the Newseum of Arlington, Virginia, 95% of 1,500 respondents said they want to know
about crime, a higher response rate than for any other topic, including local news, the
environment, and world news. (Parade Magazine 1997, 4) The goal of the media is to report the
truth at all times. Reporting the truth to the public is fundamental to the role of the media in
society as well as a moral responsibility of the media (Klaidman and Beauchamp 1987:30).
(Banks, 2013) With reporting news stories, one need to make sure that biasness does not occur. Is
media bias essentially an issue? The impact of media bias depends on how the group of onlookers
forms the data displayed by the media. Media have huge

was one of the program s purposes. And it could be too good in this task: the trouble of The
Cosby Show was that it didn t show the day to day racism that existed in the streets of New York
City for the Huxtable children (Staiger 145). Experts also criticized the abundance of the indoor
scenes, but it is the common problem for sitcoms. It is possible to conclude critics had a positive
attitude towards The Cosby Show, as it reflected issues of parenting, which were common for all
races, but slightly criticized it for the excessive whitewash of the African American

Jessica Chastain
The performances also play a crucial role. Matthew McConaughey performance work excels with
a demanding part that asks him to do a little bit of everything: action heroics, a commanding
presence, the everyman archetype, and expert dramatics. He is good at all of them, but he wows
most clearly at that final, most important piece. This is a fiercely human performance of raw
power and dimensionality; the wholly believable vulnerability he projects here astounds me even
more. While Jessica Chastain is very good as the adult Murph, the second most special performance
in the filmbehind McConaughey comes from Mackenzie Foy, the talented young actress playing
Murph as a child. This is a truly wonderful child performance, a piece of actingthat is... Show more

In Nolan s work, AI is subservient to man, and does more than just aid him in his quest. In fact,
mankind as a whole is saved more than once by the onboard bots that resemble Kubrick s
monolith in shape and form. It is my contention that the film advocates a form of transhumanism,
where the mysterious they are not just the humans of the future as Cooper states, but advanced
AI human hybrids of the future. Several clues are given to support this thesis. First, the
beginning of the film shows the museum footage of Murphy and the elderly recounting history
on smaller versions of what look like monolithic bots. Just as the monolith bots store the history
of man, they store the history of Murph and Cooper, as demonstrated when Cooper is in the
Tesseract. Second, when the drone lands and Cooper and Murphy are discussing harnessing it,
Murphy gives a big clue no one seems to have picked up on, pleading, It isn t hurting anyone, can
t we let it go? Murph speaks of the old Indian Air Force drone as if it were alive. Third, when
Cooper passes the event horizon having travelled beyond space and time, the means by which
humanity will transcend those final boundaries is revealed as the agents who, like angelic
guardians throughout the film, consistently save the humans. Just as the solution to the problem of
gravity was only achieved by both

Campaign Finance Debate
General Information The debate about campaign finance reform is not a new problem but has a
long history of change. The first major debate over campaign finance arose from Andrew Jackson
s spoils system. During Andrew Jackson s 1828 term, he would give out positions in his office to
those who supported him during the election. The practice would inadvertently lead to the
assassination of President James Garfield and create the first law that placed a restraint on
relationships between donors and candidates known as the Pendleton Act of 1883. The law required
that civil service positions be filled based off of merit rather than party affiliation. The regulation on
campaigns would continue in 1896 when the government took... Show more content on

The debate would make it all the way to the Supreme Court, who would uphold the law saying
the law maintained campaign integrity and prevented corruption. The Supreme Court did,
however, remove spending limits as long as the money was spent to expressly endorse a
candidate. In 1979, FECA is further amended to allow individuals, unions, and corporations to
give unlimited funds for party building. The amendment created what was called soft money
donations and was a large loophole in the system. In 2002, the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act
banned soft money, unlimited contributions, and prohibited political ads made by unions and
corporations from airing within 30 days of a primary and 60 days of a general election. The law
would be taken to the Supreme Court twice in 2003 and 2007. Despite both times resulting in a 5
4 vote in favor of the law, the 2007 case would remove the political ad ban. Finally, the 2010
Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission Supreme Court case would not only dismantle the
Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act but allow for the formation of Super PACs which they stated did
not promote corruption (Rowen, n.d.). SuperPACs have launched campaign finance reformback
into the spotlight and are crucial to any discussion on the subject today.
The first political action committee called the Congress of Industrial Organizations would be created
in response to the Smith Connelly Act

Lesson 1 Assignment by Joanne Parsons
a. Identify at least two of the pioneers of the IQ testing movement and explain their contributions to
the field
Two of the pioneers of the IQ testing movement I chose were Alfred Binet (who collaborated with
his colleague Theodore Simon and Lewis Terman who also worked with Binet on the American
version.
Alfred Binet is a French psychologist who is known to have developed the very first practical
intelligence test which became the basis for contemporary intelligence tests. He worked with a
young medical student who was also his research assistant to come up with what became simply as
the Binet Simon Scale. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis Terman, a Stanford University psychologist is another pioneer in the field of IQ Testing
because he was instrumental in bringing the Binet Simon Scale from France to the United States.
He adapted the test which became Stanford Binet Intelligence Test and was widely used that it has
become the standard intelligence testing in the US. This was when the concept of intelligence
quotient (or IQ) was first introduced. Terman also contributed to the development of the first
reliable mass group intelligence test during the World War 1 which was used by the U.S. Army
Alpha and Beta programs.
b. What do you think are some potential pros and cons of the use of IQ testing in schools?
There are two opposing sides when it comes to the issue of IQ testing in schools. Many
advocates believe that IQ testing is the best way to identify and assess children s levels of
aptitude and that it is useful in determining who amongst the general school population need
additional specialized or differentiated instruction and extra services (GATE or even IEP) that
may not be otherwise be provided for in a regular classroom. It is also a tool which can be taken
advantage of to help teachers prepare, develop and design better strategies that meet the
requirements of all types of learners in the classroom. Should there be perceived and observed
learning challenges and disabilities,

American Spirits Were Exceptionally High At The End Of The...
American spirits were exceptionally high at the end of the War of 1812 which brought about a
defeat of the British once again. In the years that followed the War, a sense of national unity
materialized throughout the country as a One Party System grew out of James Monroe s presidency
with the disappearance of the Federalists. The Columbian Centinel proclaimed that this time period
after the War of 1812was an Era of Good Feelings , a phrase applied to Monroe s presidency ever
since. But contradictory to this label, this time period in American history was actually turbulent,
for sectionalism propagated and a nationwide panic heightened. Therefore, with emerging
sectionalism in subsequent events that followed the War of 1812, the time... Show more content on

During his presidency, Monroe supported the American System in which the government supported
economic growth and protective measures for domestic manufacturers from foreign competition.
Unfortunately, not everyone favored the American System. In the South especially, Southerners
opposed such a protective tariff for it only supported Northern manufactures, while hurting the
Southern economy at the same time. The South, primarily agricultural with a large exporting
economy, had to import all of its goods having to pay up to в…“ it s price in tax in order to comply
with the American System. John Randolph, a Southerner, expressed his grievances to Congress
hoping to alleviate the struggles of the South by saying, no one interest in the country should be
sacrificed by the management of taxation to another... the agriculturalists bear the whole front of
the war and taxation (Document A). In saying this Randolph not only questioned Congress s
intentions of collecting revenue and favoring the North, but also its job to regulate commerce, not
taxes. The American System clearly drove a wedge between Northern and Southern interests.
The institution of chartering a Second National Bank also stimulated many controversies. Once
again, the Bank, an element of the American System created to strengthen national currency, placed
commercial interests of the North over farmers and agriculturalists of the South. In the

Neville s Use Of Cannibalism In Dracula
The lack of preys makes them attack others of their own, hence making a regular threat of
cannibalism. As it previously mentioned, Neville believes that the bacteria originated during the
war. According to Clasen, this belief is a projection of human anxieties; within this context, it is
a reflection of the fear of nuclear and biological war and their consequences, in idea portrayed in
the novel with one of the flashbacks the protagonist has, in which Neville and his wife
contemplate the idea by which the bombings of the war and vampires are related somehow. One
of the main concepts present in the novel is the sexual frustration of the protagonist. He is agitated
at night, when the vampires attack his house, by the female vampires standing outside his house,
who are posing and thus trying to seduce him to take him out of the house, Neville is as tempted
as horrified by the bodies and lips of the vampires, in the same way... Show more content on

With the purpose of avoiding the temptation, Neville listens to music and occupies himself by
reading. Such frustration is so great, that he even almost got him killed when he got out of the
house in fury. Apart from the sexual frustration, what Neville really needs is companionship, a
matter shown through his desperate efforts and the huge amount of time spent to befriend with
the dog, in such a desperate way the he leaves apart his research for that purpose. He feels so
isolated that when he finds another survivor, he thinks it is a product of his mind, a hallucination.
This lack of companionship and socialization is reflected as well in the living vampires of the
novel, who at first apparently do not talk to each other, and the undead vampires that do not even
have the ability to speak. The paradox of his isolation is that he is not actually alone. Yet the
vampires in the novel

Balance of Payment
BALANCE OF PAYMENT (BOP)
Introduction:
Balance of payments (BOP) is a record of economic transitions between the residents of one
country and the rest of the world during one year. The balance of payment like all balance sheets
must balance. The items, which lead to, an inflow of foreign earnings are placed on the credit side
of the balance sheet, whereas the items, which give, rise to an outflow of foreign currency are
placed on the debit side.
Definition:
Balance of payment is a systematic record of a nation s total payments to foreign countries,
including the price of imports, the outflow of capital and gold, and the total receipts from abroad,
including the price of exports and the inflow of capital and gold.

* Less Production of Value Added Goods
The share of industry in the GDP is 25.8 %. The production of value added goods is at basic stage
in Pakistan that leads to adverse BOP. * Devaluation
The repeated devaluation of rupee against US dollar has not helped in the increase of exports. The
demand for our goods in the international market is elastic. As such, due to devaluation, as tool for
boosting, exports are not effective. * Tough Competition Stiff competition in the foreign market
particularly of our value added goods has reduced the volume of foreign trade in Pakistan. It
causes reduction in exports, which result in deficit in BOP. * Increase in Prices of Inputs
The inflationary impact of the rise in the prices of inputs are not helping in achieving the export
targets set in each financial year. * Anti dumping Duties
Japan, Hong Kong and some other nations imposed antidumping duties on our cotton yarn, fabric
and bed linen. Such types of duties on our exportable goods are also a big hurdle in the way of our
exports. * 10. Technical Barriers
Pakistan will have to upgrade the standard of purity and quality to compete for its products in the
international market. * Political Uncertainty
The political uncertainties in the industrial units have considerably affected

The Hunger Relief Organization At The Puyallup Food Bank
Introduction
According to Feeding America, a U.S. Hunger Relief Organization, over 50 million people suffer
from hunger in America. Although a complex issue, nonprofit organizations such as food banks
make tremendous contributions each year toward combating hunger. Unfortunately, the majority of
food donated to the Puyallup Food Bank located in Puyallup, Washington is heavily processed. A
heavily processed diet can lead to nutritional deficiencies in fiber, calcium, iron and vitamins. These
nutrients are vital to human survival.
Additionally, during non holiday months, donations to the Puyallup Food Bank decrease
considerably. To change this and help the food bank receive sufficient nutritional food donations
year round, team 6 decided to repurpose Sarah Pike s research project.
Using Ms. Pike s research, we realized the Puyallup Food Bank had issues in communicating its
needs effectively with the community. To assist in correcting this, we felt the design of a simple,
visually interesting call to action pamphlet would be an appropriate tool.
To accomplish the creation of this pamphlet, we broke the collaboration up into four tasks:
Write a project justification statement
Develop the pamphlet content through delegated research assignments
Design the pamphlet
Test the pamphlet effectiveness by obtaining feedback finalizing the content
Our overall goal in completing this project is to create an effective pamphlet that will educate the
residents of Puyallup,

The Bloodless Revolution. The Revolution started in 1688 and ended in 1689. It took place in
the 17th century in England. James took the throne if his brother Charles when he died in 1685.
Since James was a Catholic Christian, he removed people in the church and army along with
Protestant officials and replaced them with Catholics. James thought laws made by the Parliament
were biased to Catholics so he excluded them and tried to make his own laws that were more
liberal to the Catholics. The Parliament thought that since James had a very big army stationed
near London, it was a symbol that it was an aggressive act and it might mean James was trying to...

Ireland in March of 1689. Louis had been Williams sworn enemy. James saw Ireland as a way to
regain his crown by invading England. William always focused on ending Louis XIV s
domination of Europe throughout his reign. William decisively had to deal with the army James
represented that had a significant threat. Ireland had never seen a force as large as Williams
invasion. He altogether had more than one thousand horses to draw his gun equipment and

Chickenpox
Epidemiology: Chickenpox
The Varicella Zoster virus causes a very infectious disease called Chickenpox. Chickenpox is
usually acquired through the inhalation of airborne respiratory droplets from an infected host.
Chickenpox is primarily acquired during childhood , with more than 90% of all reported cases
occurring in children under the age of 10. A person with chickenpoxcan spread the virus without
even showing any signs or symptoms. It is usually most easily transmitted two to three days before
a rash appears and keeps that high transmission rate until the blisters have crusted over.
The following paper provides a detailed description of Chickenpox and the determinants of health
contributing to the development of the disease. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before vaccines were introduced, varicella was endemic in the United States, and virtually all
persons acquired varicella at some point before adulthood (cdc.gov, 2006). It is reported that 4
million cases of chickenpox were recorded in the U.S. each year before the vaccine was
introduced. Although some states reported cases of varicella to the CDC, it was eliminated from
the list of nationally notifiable conditions in 1981. Children under 10 years of age make up
between 75 90 % of chickenpox cases. In 1995, due to the availability of the vaccine in the U.S.,
hospitalizations due to chickenpox has declined by nearly 90% (Hambleton, Gershon, 2005).
Determinants of Health
Varicella peaks in the months of March through May and throughout the regions with mild
temperature. Varicella and herpes zosteroccur worldwide and are not restricted to any one
geographic location. According to the CDC, the varicella infection is more prevalent among adults
than children in tropical areas. It is unknown what the reasons are for the difference of age
distribution, possibility is that in rural population varicella infection is not common (cdc.gov,
2006). January was regularly the season and its peak for the varicella infection before the
nationwide vaccination was implemented. It was a after the nationwide immunizations in 2004,

Deeds Inc. will be targeting single men and women over the age of 18 in need of domestic
cleaning services and desiring discreet adult entertainment. Teams of at least two men and/or

provisions in place to ensure that the services offered will always remain tasteful and in

Licensing will also be more difficult to obtain, since adult entertainment is involved. These
additional fees as well as the additional talent required will cause Dirty Deeds prices to be higher
than traditional cleaning services. Another weakness is that Tucson s older population may be
more conservative than anticipated which may cause them to reject the service. The last
weakness is there may be a staff shortage during the summer and holiday months when college
students are out of town. Not having employees to clean houses means less productivity and
profitability. Among the external opportunities that Dirty Deeds may enjoy are that this type of
service has never been offered in Tucson before. If the service is widely accepted, the company
can be very profitable. Furthermore, Tucson s diverse population is consistently expanding which
offers a growing customer base. Dirty Deeds may also be able to utilize the new ideas that today s
college student have to offer. Applying new concepts to current cleaning methods will boost Dirty
Deeds Inc. reputation as an innovative cleaning company. Since customer satisfaction is
guaranteed, clients will likely refer Dirty Deeds Inc. to their friends which may also contribute to
an increased workflow. Threats exist that Dirty Deeds must convert into opportunities in order to
realize sufficient profit. One such threat is that people may not be willing to pay

  • 2. The Dalit Movement Dalit Movement In Modern India All those people of distinct castes and sub castes among the depressed classes who were traditionally subjected to invidious discriminations on grounds of untouchability, and categorized as the downtrodden, untouchables, depressed classes, exterior classes or Scheduled Castes were called Dalits. Dalit movement can be defined as institutional or organizational efforts made by Dalit leaders for the liberation of the downtrodden masses. It is a movement of protest against untouchability, casteism and superstitions. It aims at uplifting Dalits to the level of non Dalits. The Bhakti movement was a reformative Hindu religious movement of the medieval period and it promoted the belief that salvation can be attained by everyone. The movement is closely related to Islamic Sufism, which appeared around the same time. Since Hindu society was caste ridden society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It preceded the modern Dalit Movement by around 600 years. Thus, the Bhakti movement served the Indian society in two ways firstly, it tried to bridge the gulf between Hinduism and Islam, and secondly, it created a philosophical base for social equality and set in motion a new trend toward social and spiritual equality. The Bhakti Movement in South India was spearheaded by the Alwars and Nayanars of the fifth century AD. Some of the Bhakti leaders like Kanaka Dasa and Purandara Dasa of Karnataka contributed to literature. Sants Chaitanya, Kabir, Tulsi Das, Vallabha, Meera Bai Tukaram, and others led the movement in the North. They taught that people could cast aside the rituals and caste considerations and express their overwhelming love for God. • 3. Gas Price Elasticity Essay examples Gas Price Elasticity The Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy began tracking weekly gasoline prices in 1990 by means of a survey of 800 service stations around the country. The average retail price for unleaded gasoline posted its fourth record high during the week of June 12, 2000, increasing 5 cents a gallon to an average of $1.681. The price at the pump is higher than the same period last year by 56 cents and has risen 16.2 cents over the past month (Anonymous, 2000). How far will it rise? What will consumers do about the dramatic increases that are occurring with the arrival of each shipment? The oil producing nations in the Mideast currently are meeting to discuss increasing production so that crude prices will decline from its current price of more than $30 a barrel to the region of $25 (Georgy, 2000). The American Petroleum Institute reports that 32.6 percent of the final cost to the consumer is the refiner s share that covers the cost of refining and provides the oil companies with their profit (Brodrick, 2000a). The government s share is greater, however. quot;Taxes account for 37.4 percent of gasoline costs and averaged 41.5 cents per gallon in 1999, according to the institute. The federal government s share is 18.4 cents, and the state takes about 23 cents. Occasionally, local municipalities tack on an extra tax quot; (Brodrick, 2000a; p. 000215b). The price is further affected by locale. The Midwest typically is one of the highest priced regions in the nation because it is the most difficult section for transportation. Distance from refineries is prohibitive, and refineries are saying that the current high prices in the region have resulted from problems with using a pipeline that eases transportation costs. The retailer s price increase to the final consumer is between 4 and 8 cents a gallon, meaning that there is little option for the consumer to shop on price. Further, consolidation has been active in oil as in other industries. A different brand name does not signify that the gasoline is being sold by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, Fareed Zakaria is writing The Rise of the Rest to help people imagine that the world isn t really falling apart. Just because there are other countries only growing bigger. This is when Ehrenreich is saying that jobs are being taken away and is helping people understand that Zakaria s facts could be arguable. To begin with, Barbara Ehrenreich, the writer of Your Local News Dateline Delhi is about this lady explaining her personal insights about outsourcing. She was focusing on a frame that showed historical trends in outsourcing, showing a series of turning points in the US about jobs being pushed out of the country and into others. She explained how, yes, maybe other countries are getting larger to, but also that doesn t have to mean that the US is getting smaller. Ehrenreich stated No, I don t resent the Indians for moving in on the kind of work that I do...next time they should just get the idea of cost savings and go for the CEO s job. (609 610) Maybe what she meant by this was since jobs are spreading world wide, she doesn t mind if others try out for it, but she believes that they shouldn t just go out for the first spot that is open, they should try something that is more paying and maybe even more important. • 5. Psychodynamic Personality Profile of Johnny Depp Essay Personality, like most core Psychology subjects, is difficult to define. Personality is essentially the science of describing and understanding people. No two people are the same; even identical twins will tell you that they are very different to their identical counterpart. There are some who are anxious and there are those who are risk takers. There are some who are carefree while there are those who are highly strung and there are those who are over confident while some are just plain shy. It is this issue of differences that are fundamental to the study and examination of personality. Research also shows indicates that the Big Five has distinct biological substrates thereby linking trait perspective with the biological perspective (DeYoung, Quilty Peterson, 2007). However this convergence of perspectives is actually productive in that all perspectives by themselves have their disadvantages as well as their advantages. If all perspectives can coincide with one another, explanations of personality will become so much easier. The psychoanalytic perspective is the most interesting theory of the analysis of an individual and their personality. Initially developed by Freud during the latter half of the 1900s, it deals with, among other things, the irrational and less predictable patterns of behaviour and human thinking, which is what most other theories of personality often leave out and are criticised for it. In understanding Johnny Depp, a psychodynamic perspective best accounts for his personality: as a complete theory, it can explain his behaviour from when he was a child to becoming a famous movie star, integrates other theories into its analysis, such as Evolutionary and Learning perspectives, thus providing a fairly reliable and accurate interpretation of his personality. As a kid, Johnny Depp had a troublesome childhood. His father was continually searching for secure work in order to support his family, resulting in them moving around a lot, living in motels, shifting from place to place. This no doubt took a ... • 10. The Theme of Carpe Diem in Francis Macomber and Capital... The Theme of Carpe Diem in Francis Macomber and Capital Of The World The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber and The Capital Of The World A lot of Hemingway s stories deal with life and death. Death even found it s way into some of the titles we have read so far. However, in discussing death, we first have to look at life or rather how a life was lived, to truly understand what death meant in the particular instance. Both short stories, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, and The Capital Of The World deal with lives cut short by a chance and accidental encounter with death, while the soon to be deceased seem to gamble and court death. Both also seem to have secondary characters that serve as guides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Robert Wilson is constantly reminding Macomber of how things work. He says things like We all take a beating every day, you know, one way or another (7) or when Wilson quotes Shakespeare and says ...a man can die but once; we owe God a death and let it go which way it will, he that dies this year is quit for the next (25). Wilson is here serving as a teacher of sorts for both Macomber and for the reader. Similarly, in The Capital Of The World, Enrique says, You think of the bull but you do not think of the horns. The bull has such force that the horns rip like a knife, they stab like a bayonet, and they kill like a club (35). Enrique is spilling much the same speech that Wilson is. He is telling Paco that life and the world come at your hard and they come for you. Both Enrique and Wilson are serving as Hemingway s voice as he talks to each respective character and the reader about death. So far the stories have seemed similar in theme, if and even in execution. However, the one defining event in each story is what serves as the marker that separates Francis from Paco; one who actually lives from one who doesn t even get the chance too. As put in the title, Macomber s happy life is short lived. After the buffalo hunt, Macomber states, You know I don t think I d ever be afraid of anything again...Like a damn bursting. It was pure excitement (25). We can already see a change in Macomber. He went from a coward at the start of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reality Of Presidential Election Essay Reality of presidential candidates Connor Brown With the looming election drawing ever closer the parade of losers (candidates) has come down to the final two. Only one can become President and only one can keep the title of presidential candidate. Over the past year the country has seen over 20 different people attempt to become the leader of the free world; and they are all the same. At the very least they are similar, and by default very easy to categorize. 1. Who is this guy? This is the candidate no one knows. This is the Lincoln Chaffey, Martin O Malley, and George Pataki (google him). Lincoln Chaffey who said America needed to get on the Metric system. Now this candidate is fun because they were known for something they had done earlier and then return to the public eye to try and lead the country. This includes Marco Rubio and Ben Carson. The important thing was that randomly during the speech he leaned over and took a drink of water. This speech was joke fodder for weeks following the speech. What no one expected was for Marco Rubio to return 2 years later and run a respectable presidential campaign. Ben Carson was famous for being the first Neuro surgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins; and in 2015 he ran for president. He did well in the pools for a couple weeks, but after the Oregon Shooting he said what the victims should have done (not the most sensitive thing to do after a mass shooting) causing a dive in his polls. • 12. The Separation Of Foam Separation Foam separation techniques are neither much widely used nor much research have been done in this area lately. But due to the high selectivity, thermal stability and the ability to separate components from very dilute solutions (as low as 10 10 mole/liter), it is worth being applied as modern separation and purification techniques. Particulates that are to be separated from solution are associated with surfactants and are adsorbed at the liquid air interface. Interaction energy between the nonpolar hydrocarbon chains of the surfactantand the polar water molecules is less than the interaction energy between water molecules themselves leading to organic molecules in bulk water to be energetically less favorable than their presence out of the bulk water at the interface. Foamfractionation, ionic flotation, molecular flotation, microflotation, froth flotationthese diverse types of foam separation techniques allow the separation and purification of a wide variety of components starting from detergents to heavy metal ions and proteins. Gibbs adsorption isotherm, Young Laplace equation, Langmuir isotherm control the separation parameters. The easy apparatus setting and simplistic separation process leads to its utilization in analytical purposes and economically feasible industrial set up. All of the dimensions of comfort must be met by the patient, the family and healthcare provider to enable healing or peaceful death, return to previous health state and promote health seeking behaviors (HSB). • 17. The Copyright of Procedural Art Traditionally, creative works such as drawings, paintings and other pictures have been protected by copyright law. Procedurally generated art can produce works that mimic a drawing, painting or photograph, but there is a complication in defining the work as an algorithm or a creative work. Copyright does not extend to algorithms, so the questions follows: Is procedurally generated art simply an algorithm that should be treated as such, or is it a creative work that should be covered by copyright law? Procedurally generated content in general is considered to be produced by a program rather than explicitly defined by a data structure. However, a program itself can be seen as an explicitly defined data structure (Ebert, Musgrave, Peachey, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even so, when their user interfaces were compared there were a number of similarities. The judge ruled that copying had taken place on that basis. This precedent states that, in the UK, the end result of a program is what matters and that its internal function is irrelevant to issues of copyright. Applied to Perlin s procedural art, this could potentially be dangerous. If someone wished to obtain similar results to his they would have to be wary of copyright law. Even if they could mimic his techniques without copying any of his code, they would still potentially be found to have violated copyright since the end results would be similar. As well as copyright law, patent law could also be an issue. European patent law expressly prohibits the granting of patents for programs for computers (European Patent Convention, 2000). Strangely, the United States takes the opposite stance. It will not grant patents consisting solely of mathematical operations, i.e., converting one set of numbers into another set of numbers, does not manipulate appropriate subject matter and thus cannot constitute a statutory process (United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2008). This seems very similar to the European system, but there is a key difference. The US Patent Office will issue a patent for programs with a practical application. After the American Revolution, Americans were very suspicious with a strong central government, as they think the United State government would control over tariff and limited human rights just like what Great Britain had done in the past. On July of 1776, John Dickinson submitted a blueprint for a strong national government to the Continental Congress, however, his colleagues transformed his plan into a government that needs the state s authority to execute any taxes, laws, or amendments. Since the national government holds very little power, this created many conflicts such as tariffs, lack of finances to maintain the army, no power to end rebellions. It was impossible for the Article of Confederation to solve any postwar problems that America was facing at that time due to high unemployed sailors, debt ridden farmers, and destitute widows and orphans. The Articles of Confederation gives the congress to raise taxes, but the state has the authority to deny to pay its expenses. The states paid roughly seventy percent of what they owed, most states paid remarkably less (Georgia did not paid anything). This article negatively impacted America. As America just granted independence from Great Britain, it was a very fresh country, the stability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The major issue of the relationship between these groups of men is considered an issue of class structure which is attributed to the differences in the educational levels between them. NCOs are treated in the same manner as a low category enlisted men and as such do not serve as a bridge between the enlisted men and officers. Officers and NCOs as Responsible Leaders With great authority indeed comes great responsibility. The commissioned and non commissioned officers carry great responsibility, but the level of responsibility each individual carries is different throughout this career. A new sergeant is responsible for a single squad, whereas a lieutenant is responsible for an entire platoon. The commissioned officer plays a management role and is responsible for supervising hundreds or thousands of soldiers in accomplishing a mission. Most importantly, it must be well acknowledge by the citizens that these commissioned officers strive to accomplish every mission with utmost dedication and excellence as they are confided and charged with serving as models of the Army values in the performance of their leadership duties as they serve the nation with full dignity and a lifelong devotion. • 25. The Impact of Invasive Species on Ecosystems Essay Influence on ecosystems range from human causes like the bulldozing of a forest to natural causes like a fire or a flood. In recent times, the introduction and spread of invasive species has transformed native communities rapidly and, in some cases, created irreversible damages. In the Earth s history, changes have often occurred in the ecosystems. For example, glaciersand the retreat of glaciers cause wide spread changes. However, although change is a constant in ecosystems, animals and habitats often cannot adapt to the rapid alterations of non natural stresses. Harm to the environment from the introduction of invasive speciesoccurs through changes in the habitatand declines in the native species. Invasive species... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Van Driesche, nonnative species are more likely to establish if they invade habitats with lowered biotic resistance, encounter prey with poorly developed mechanisms of self defense, or invade habitats unaccompanied by their specialized natural enemies or when their invasion is facilitated by earlier invaders (2000). Damage to these communities, then, can be seen both in cumulative effects and in a cycle of self reinforcement. Although pristine environments are still at risk from invasion, this positive feedback loop makes habitats already with a disturbance by exotics even more vulnerable to other invasions. With the increasing amount of disturbed habitats, invasive species could soon become the leading cause of ecological degradation (SoulГ© Orians, 2001). Invasive species can alter habitats in a number of ways. Changes in the physical structure of the land are the most visually obvious. Examples include narrowing stream channels, reducing sand supply to dunes, and stabilizing surfaces such as mudflats, and each invasive species goes about these changes in their own way. For instance, the burrowing activities of Australian isopods cause the banks of tidal channels to collapse, leading to the widening of channels and the loss of vegetated salt marsh (Cox, 1999). On the other hand, Japanese mussels that have invaded the San Diego area are stabilizing mudflats. Although reaching Southern California in the 1960s, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my view it s clear which legislative act marginalized African Americans the most, and would have to be the implementation of lifelong servitude Virginia enacted in 1661. This legislation would shape this country s use of slave labor and begin the process of marginalizing African Americans. Now there are a number of other terribly oppressive pieces of legislation that would further marginalize African Americans but it seems like this first act was decisive in that it normalized the use of slaves through its ever expanding interpretation. Because of kogwayay s branching terminology, kogwayay is also the Gebusi s word for ethnicity, the identification with a cultural group because of shared values customs and beliefs, while inversely excluded from different groups. One aspect that contributes to the Gebusi s sense of kogwayay is religion. • 34. Media Bias In The Media The influence that the media has cannot be doubted by anyone. The media plays a very vital role in our criminal justice system today. According to the text, Most people gain their knowledge of events from the media, and therefore the selection and shaping of news by the media is a critical element in forming and modeling the public opinion on most topics, including criminal justice. The media decides what is noteworthy, and crime ranks high on that scale. (Banks, 2013) The public s view of casualties, lawbreakers, deviants, and law enforcement officials is to a great extent dictated by their depiction in the mass media. Crime in America is big news that is of significant concern to the American public. In a 1997 national survey conducted by the Roper Center in conjunction with the Newseum of Arlington, Virginia, 95% of 1,500 respondents said they want to know about crime, a higher response rate than for any other topic, including local news, the environment, and world news. Reporting the truth to the public is fundamental to the role of the media in society as well as a moral responsibility of the media (Klaidman and Beauchamp 1987:30). • 40. The Cosby Show Essay Critics reaction to the The Cosby Show The Cosby Show created a controversial impression. The auditory liked this show; its positive attitude was supported by TV ratings. The series had a successful premier and kept high ratings during next seasons. The Cosby Show achieved a 33.7 rating for 1985 86 and then 34.9 for 1986 87 (Staiger 144). Experts also gave mostly positive comments; they liked the humor, character s acting, mise en scenes and the overall impression of episodes. Its overall style of humor and resolution of narrative problems matched Middle America s taste standards and contemporary views about responsible parenting (Staiger 159). Show s features made it appreciable for different types of the auditory. It could be treated like a compromise, according to critics. Caucasian Americans liked the show as it represented many common uniracial problems for the middle class; they wanted to see episodes despite the fact most characters were representatives of a different race. African Americans were led by similar motives; the show did not demonstrate specific racial problems, but there still were enough moments, where people could recognize own situations and experiences. However, this omnitude became both the advantage and disadvantage of the show in critics eyes. Some of them mentioned that the creation of the less dangerous, stereotypical image of black people was one of the program s purposes. And it could be too good in this task: the trouble of The Cosby Show was that it didn t show the day to day racism that existed in the streets of New York City for the Huxtable children (Staiger 145). Experts also criticized the abundance of the indoor scenes, but it is the common problem for sitcoms. It is possible to conclude critics had a positive attitude towards The Cosby Show, as it reflected issues of parenting, which were common for all races, but slightly criticized it for the excessive whitewash of the African American ... Matthew McConaughey performance work excels with a demanding part that asks him to do a little bit of everything: action heroics, a commanding presence, the everyman archetype, and expert dramatics. He is good at all of them, but he wows most clearly at that final, most important piece. This is a fiercely human performance of raw power and dimensionality; the wholly believable vulnerability he projects here astounds me even more. While Jessica Chastain is very good as the adult Murph, the second most special performance in the filmbehind McConaughey comes from Mackenzie Foy, the talented young actress playing Murph as a child. In Nolan s work, AI is subservient to man, and does more than just aid him in his quest. In fact, mankind as a whole is saved more than once by the onboard bots that resemble Kubrick s monolith in shape and form. It is my contention that the film advocates a form of transhumanism, where the mysterious they are not just the humans of the future as Cooper states, but advanced AI human hybrids of the future. Several clues are given to support this thesis. First, the beginning of the film shows the museum footage of Murphy and the elderly recounting history on smaller versions of what look like monolithic bots. Just as the monolith bots store the history of man, they store the history of Murph and Cooper, as demonstrated when Cooper is in the Tesseract. Second, when the drone lands and Cooper and Murphy are discussing harnessing it, Murphy gives a big clue no one seems to have picked up on, pleading, It isn t hurting anyone, can t we let it go? Murph speaks of the old Indian Air Force drone as if it were alive. Third, when Cooper passes the event horizon having travelled beyond space and time, the means by which humanity will transcend those final boundaries is revealed as the agents who, like angelic guardians throughout the film, consistently save the humans. • 42. Campaign Finance Debate General Information The debate about campaign finance reform is not a new problem but has a long history of change. The first major debate over campaign finance arose from Andrew Jackson s spoils system. During Andrew Jackson s 1828 term, he would give out positions in his office to those who supported him during the election. The practice would inadvertently lead to the assassination of President James Garfield and create the first law that placed a restraint on relationships between donors and candidates known as the Pendleton Act of 1883. The law required that civil service positions be filled based off of merit rather than party affiliation. The regulation on campaigns would continue in 1896 when the government took... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The debate would make it all the way to the Supreme Court, who would uphold the law saying the law maintained campaign integrity and prevented corruption. The Supreme Court did, however, remove spending limits as long as the money was spent to expressly endorse a candidate. In 1979, FECA is further amended to allow individuals, unions, and corporations to give unlimited funds for party building. The amendment created what was called soft money donations and was a large loophole in the system. In 2002, the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act banned soft money, unlimited contributions, and prohibited political ads made by unions and corporations from airing within 30 days of a primary and 60 days of a general election. The law would be taken to the Supreme Court twice in 2003 and 2007. Despite both times resulting in a 5 4 vote in favor of the law, the 2007 case would remove the political ad ban. Finally, the 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission Supreme Court case would not only dismantle the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act but allow for the formation of Super PACs which they stated did not promote corruption (Rowen, n.d.). SuperPACs have launched campaign finance reformback into the spotlight and are crucial to any discussion on the subject today. Although a complex issue, nonprofit organizations such as food banks make tremendous contributions each year toward combating hunger. Unfortunately, the majority of food donated to the Puyallup Food Bank located in Puyallup, Washington is heavily processed. A heavily processed diet can lead to nutritional deficiencies in fiber, calcium, iron and vitamins. These nutrients are vital to human survival. Additionally, during non holiday months, donations to the Puyallup Food Bank decrease considerably. To change this and help the food bank receive sufficient nutritional food donations year round, team 6 decided to repurpose Sarah Pike s research project.
