Myth Of Roman Mythology
In many cultures there are flood myths that normally pertain to angered Gods who release their anger
by flooding the world to cleanse whatever caused the anger in the first place. In the Roman culture,
one of the flood myths mentioned states that Jupiter had been angered by the evil that came with
humanity and had wanted to burn the Earth. However, Jupiter had feared by doing so Heaven would
be set ablaze as well and thus, with Neptune s help, flooded the Earth. The hero Deucalion and his
wife Pyrrha had been the only two to survive. Jupiter had recognized their religious lifestyle had let
them live and retracted the flood. Deucalion and Pyrrha had then repopulated the world by throwing
stones behind them. In the Murato culture, there is a myth in which a man had been fishing in a lagoon
of the Pastaza river, a crocodile had swallowed the fisherman s bait and the man killed the crocodile.
The mother of crocodiles had been angered by this and had slashed the water with her tail creating a
flood in the area and drowning everybody except for one man who had climbed up a palm tree. After
the flood had subsided the man climbed down from the tree, cut off a piece of his flesh, planted it in
the soil, and had grown a woman. He had then married the woman and begun to repopulate the world.
The two flood myths mentioned above have a few similarities. The first is that the floods had come
from the anger of powerful beings. The first story mentions that the God Jupiter had been angry

The Misfit Meaning
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , written by Flannery O Connor in 1953, you will find
that there are many different aspects and themes introduced into the story such as; mischief, self
conception, grace, and the true meaning of a good man. This story is used to show how people view
others, and about how finding a good man is hard to do which hints the title. Although this story doesn
t have a happy ending, I believe that the intentions and meanings behind this story are very important
in the end. First of all, O Connor uses the theme of mischief because the criminal s name is The Misfit
and the story progresses to show how much trouble the misfit has actually gotten himself into. I
believe the reason why O Connor used the name misfit to describe the criminal is because he wanted
to portray how people judge and view others based on what they think they know. The Misfit does not
always have to describe a bad man but is also does not have to represent a good man either. That is
why O Connor used mischief in this story. Next, self conception is introduced into the story because
the grandmother gets into the car with the family wearing a hat. The grandmother wants everyone to

The misfit kills because as he says no pleasure but meanness is being a good man . What is the true
meaning of a good man ? It is hard in this story to pick out a character and prove he is a good man
because no one knows the true meaning. Good can mean so many things. It can mean being nice to
someone or sharing things with them. Or it could also mean sparing someone s life or killing them off
because you can t leave any traces behind. It isn t easy to find a good man anymore these days because
no one knows who is considered a good man and who is just trying to cover up their mistakes. Also,
being a good man all the time is not as easy as it

Summary Of Dorothea Tanning s Painting Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
The composition I chose was Dorothea Tanning s painting Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. This painting
depicts two girls alone in the hallway of a rundown hotel, playing with the larger than life sunflower
which lays in the middle of the hallway, reaching which the stairwell. What intrigued me first about
this painting was its use of color. The color scheme that Tanning employs is complimentary. As we
know, a complementary color scheme means that two colors that are directly across from each other
on the color wheel are primarily used. In this case, the complementary colors represented in the
painting are red and green. Tanning shows a rich, blood red color in the carpeting as well as on the
shirt of the girl leaning against the frame of on of the doors. Those deep reds complement the ivy
green color of the hallway walls, the leaves on the large sunflower, and the vines from the flower as
well. Another aspect of color in the painting that pulled me in was the balance of color temperature
that is featured. There are many warm colors featured in this painting which makes the slight pop of
cool colors stand out against each other. Of course, the warm colors Tanning uses in this painting are
the deep reds in the carpeting and shirt, the dark brown of the doors, and the wooden stair flooring that
run down the hall, as well as the eerie yellows featured in the sunflower and mysterious lighting
leaking out into the hall from a slightly cracked door. Meanwhile, the warm colors are met with the
cool whites in the young girls dresses and skirts. Plus, the frigid greens popping out from the walls
along with the enormous vines and leaves. The greens stand out against the sunny yellows in the
flower and three petals that have fallen from the sunflower, coupled with the deep warm reds that line
the floor.
Additionally, Tanning uses value in this painting to take each component and make it more lifelike and
visually appealing. This is especially notable when looking at the sunflower and the girls. When
focusing on the flower, the petals which stand the highest have a much brighter yellow to them when
compared to the lower petals. This is because the lower petals do not stand in the light, which causes
them to appear darker in

Spiral Of Silence In Animal Farm
Neither a man nor a crowd nor a nation can be trusted to act humanely or to think sanely under the
influence of a great fear(Russel). In the timeless allegory Animal Farm, a power hungry leader instills
fear in a society of animals to manipulate their actions and ultimately consolidate power. These fear
based responses are comparable to those of citizens in today s society who s fear leads to blind
following and a spiral of silence . It s no surprise that fear is often used to ensure there will not be any
questioning of regimes because it is so effective at turning citizens into blind followers. For example,
Squealer questions the animals surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back?
(Orwell) This is a huge threat to the animals as it means not only fighting another battle but also the
last resort possibility that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Napoleon requests that the hen s eggs must be surrendered and traded for money and the hen s
protest, to which Napoleon responds by stopping the hen s food rations(Orwell). When the hens voice
their opinion, they are punished with the ultimate price of death. The Spiral of Silence Theory states
that citizens are afraid to go against the majority side in fear of isolation or more extreme
consequences (Mass Communication Theory). In this case, the extreme consequence is death, which is
more than enough to keep the animals in check after witnessing this horrifying scene. Moreover, the
spiral is reinforced when the sheep continuously bleat four legs good, two legs bad!(Orwell) . Blind
following and the spiral of silence go hand in hand. When the sheep blindly yet confidently voice their
opinion in favor of the majority, the minority feel like they are alone in their beliefs. They are further
distanced from comfortably voicing their opinions and the fear induced spiral

Different Types Of Wines By Ernest Hemingway Essay
Ernest Hemingway once said, Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the
most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater
range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing. More simply and
literally put, wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of grapes. Wine making and
drinking dates to thousands and thousands of years ago. In fact, the earliest record of vinification, or
wine making, is placed in the Bible in Genesis 9:20 21 where it states that Noah planted a vineyard
and drank wine produced from it around 4100 B.C. Over the years, people have experimented making
different types of wines with different kinds of grapes, which have been split into 4 categories. These
categories are Wild Vine, Indistinct Vitis Vinifera, Distinct Vitis Vinifera and Hybrids. These different
types of wines have been divided into 5 different classifications which are Table Wine, Sparkling
Wine, Dessert Wine, Fortified Wine and Aromatized Wine. Concurrently, these different wines are
made in several different locations around the world. The top producing wine country is Italy with the
United States falling not too far behind in 4th place. The wine that I will be focusing on in this paper
is Syrah while the location is Santa Barbara, California. I will also speak about Syrah in relation to
Santa Barbara and its significance on the region.

Powerful Enlightened Depots
Enlightened despotism is defined as a form of government in the 18th century in which absolute
monarchs pursued legal, social, and educational reforms inspired by the Enlightenment (The Editors
of Encyclopaedia Britannica). The magnitude of the philosophy movement known as the
Enlightenment sent ripples throughout Western society. The philosophers believed that in order to
improve society they had to enlighten the monarchs. The views of the Enlightenment did to find their
way inside the palaces of Europe s leaders; however, the monarchs retained their great power of
absolute rule. Among these enlightened despots of the age were Frederick the Great of Prussia,
Catherine the Great of Russia, and Joseph II of Austria. These leaders all attempted to bring their
respective countries into a new age. The basis of enlightened despotism was the idea of improving the
lives of a country s citizens. This concept of leadership during this time was ultimately a good idea,
but it was not successfully exercised to its fullest extent. From a young age, Frederick the Great took a
great liking to culture and literature. He was especially infatuated with the language and lifestyle of
the French. The French philosopher Voltaire was a friend to Frederick and had a great influence on his
Enlightenment ideals. He initially hid his love of the Enlightenment during his reign, but later he
began to realize how the philosophies of the movement could actually advance and fortify his state.

Examples Of An End Of Racism
An End to Racism Although we may like to think racism does not exist in this world today, it still is
very much alive. Some people may support it or it can be looked frowned upon. This topic can be very
controversial. This issue has been a problem all around for a very long time. Racism is defined as the
belief of superiority over another race of others . Racism is often looking down on another race based
on color, culture, or physical appearance in general. There s so much history of racism; there are
issues from the past even still to this day you hear about, and a solution can be found to help end it.
Racism has been around for hundreds of years. Racism can be more than just not liking someone
because skin color. A certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone can help put a stop to it. No person should have to be into this world and have to see the
horrifying things that have happened. Lives that have been taken for granted. Everyone is equal and
should feel equal. As Muhammad Ali said, Hating people because of their skin color is wrong. And it
doesn t matter which color does the hating. It s just plain wrong. We should not look down on
someone based on the color of their skin or culture. Anyone can come across and be racist. It is wrong
no matter what reasoning. There are many ways a person can help, simply sticking up for someone or
helping a person be more educated about the topic. A person is not born into being racist towards
someone else. Racism is taught. I was always taught never judge a book by its cover. Even with all the
crazy stuff that has happened in this world, we are all one in reality. You can make racism a positive
situation. It can help a person grow by being strong in their own skin. Although it may lower someone
s self esteem, it could also boost someone else s. Change is a good thing, people get too comfortable
around the people they know and the environment they are in. Once you get to know more about
someone else and their background, you are stepping out of your comfort zone. You learn through
someone else s eyes about their culture which you are not familiar

Racial Assumptions
The main point that really stuck out to me during the reading of Two assumptions one ideal was to
look beneath the surface of the racial iceberg. Some underlying factors that affect racial attitudes are
often below the level of awareness. An example of an underlying issue that surrounds the racial
iceberg is how racism and inequalities are evident in the U.S. public school systems. Institutions such
as schools make up our everyday realities about our assumptions on race and ethnicity. Students of
color (i.e. African American, Hispanic, and Native American) experience disparities in head start
programs, college readiness, disciplinary actions. Currently, in New York minorities tend to have less
access to competitive math and science classes.

Incidents in the Life Of A Slave Girl

supposed to take care her new owner s five year old daughter, help plant things, take care of any

After a brief period of suspense, the will of my mistress was read, and we learned that she had

she felt like she was hurting her son and wished he had died in infancy. She felt this because he had

Academic Fraud In Sports
The overwhelmingly busy schedule of a student athlete, which includes missed classes, away games,
and significant hours a week devoted to his sport, gives them an academic disadvantage. A Division I
college football player typically devotes 43.3 hours per week to their sport. These hours are not only is
more than the typical American work week, but also are prohibiting to the students who wish to take
more rigorous courses (Edelman). The NCAA officially restricts student athletes in season practice
time to 20 hours a week, or four hours a day. However, there are many loopholes in the system which
result in student athletes devoting up to 40 plus hours a week to their sport (Jacobs, ). Meetings,
weight training, conditioning, film studies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problems of academic fraud are rooted in the NCAA s academic standards, and rules. After
receiving many complaints about the relaxed punishment for low academic performance, the NCAA
raised the stakes for doing badly in college. Although this originally seemed like a good thing, the
NCAA covertly and subsequently lowered the standards for enrollment to these same colleges. Hence,
less qualified people were subject to more pressure to succeed, and their fear of punishment spurred a
series of scandals regarding academic fraud (Watkins 81). The purpose of academic fraud is to allow
players to retain their eligibility, most commonly by inflating grades and by giving an easier course
load. Many institutions such as Syracuse and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC), have
been punished for academic fraud. UNC was discovered offering paper classes which only require a
final paper which is graded lightly, to maintain GPA eligibility (Jacobs). Not only is the NCAA
making more money, but they also cheating players out of an education, which is the sole purpose of
college. The UNC scandal is a source of many academic disadvantages for the benefit of revenue,
while their educations suffered, the athletes entertained Tar Heel fans, minted money for the school,
and helped line the pockets of coaches and administrators. The more time student athletes devote to
their sport, the more money for the NCAA. So, the NCAA is exploiting children, and their talent, for
money without even returning them with the, nearly guaranteed in college, education

Rise of US to power during the 20th century Essay
The U.S. Rise
There were many factors that contributed to the United States rise and roles as a world power during
the early 20th century. Presidential policies during this time period were the foundation of the U.S. s
role as a world power. The conflict in the Philippines was evidence of the U.S. s ability to crush
uprising and control a territory. The Spanish American War demonstrates the U.S. s role as a world
power. Although the U.S. was only about a century old it s influence drastically affected the whole
world.
Presidents during the 20th century developed and relied on many different policies involving foreign
relations. President Roosevelt s policy was Speak softly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally the U.S. passed the Jones Act of 1916 which allowed Philippino citizens to elect officials.
After years of delayed independence the U.S. finally granted the Phillipines independence on July 4,
1916. The U.S. intervened in the Philippines in order to gain territory from Spain.
Although President McKinley tried to avoid a war with Spain it seemed to be inevitable. The trouble
began with journalism exploiting Spanish atrocities. Then, a battleship blew up and was falsely
identified as a Spanish attack. The U.S. first took hold of a Spanish colony (the Philippines) which it
later used as a stepping stone to trade with other countries. Then, they fought battles in Cuba (another
Spanish colony) and conquered that along with Puerto Rico. By winning the Spanish American War
the U.S. gained a position as an imperialist country.
After much bloodshed the United States secured it s position as an imperialist and world power.
Presidents such as Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson came under power and called for expansion and
imperialism all over the globe. The United States choice of action in the Philippines was just one
example of it s imperialistic characteristics. The Spanish American War brought a lot of power to the
United States. During the early 20th century the United States of America became and stayed an
imperialist power.

John The Baptist
I began the research for this sermon differently than any sermon I had previously done. This was the
first time I would be approaching a dialogue sermon and while we largely agreed we would craft our
own sermons and combine them from there, everything was done in awareness that what I created
would have to be something that could be added to or bounced back and forth with another topic from
this text. It was also the first Advent sermon I would be giving so there were special considerations for
that as well. The text was Matthew 3:1 12 and my first reading did not provide much encouragement. I
typically associate Advent with a season of joy and happiness but after I read the text the only thing
that stood out for me was John the Baptist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would be a fitting message as we wait for Jesus in Advent. But I began to think about my audience
and how this message would work for them. The people in the pews are an incredibly faithful bunch
and the more I thought about it, the more I was uncomfortable taking this route. As John uses the
Pharisees and Sadducees to say that Jesus will save everybody, who will the Pharisees and Sadducees
in the modern world as I address my congregation? I would want to let them know that Jesus will save
them all but I worried that by doing that after referencing John s words, my congregation might think I
am likening them to the Pharisees and Sadducees when I certainly would not want them to think that. I
also did not want to point to a group in our culture and say they are going to be saved as well if they
seek Christ through repentance because I did not want to single out a group that needs more saving
than any other group. Calling people to repentance is not commonly done in the Moravian Church and
while I appreciate John s message that Jesus will save you as long as you repent, I did not think this
could be the main point of the sermon. In explaining John s context, the commentary mentioned that
his entire ministry was spent in the wilderness and the reference to the wilderness

Theatre History

The Masters Behind Teatro Olimpico Two men are responsible for the beautiful architecture that is the
Teatro Olimpico but neither of them worked on it at the same time. Both Andrea Palladio and his
successor Vincenzo Scamozzi contributed their own ideas to the theatre. It is fact that Palladio had his
hand in most of the design but it can be argued that the Teatro Olimpico would not be as it is today
without Scamozzi. Looking at the history before the Teatro Olimpico was built, it starts with a group
that was founded by Palladio himself, the Accademia Olimpica. The group was founded in 1555 and

He was a lover of the Roman architecture and classical theatre. Palladio had illustrated Daniele
Barbaro s Italian translation of Vitruvius De architectura, which was a detailed work that explained
what theatre was like in the Roman Empire. It includes floorplans for Roman theatres and an elevation
for the scaenae frons of Vicenza s ruined Roman theatre, the Teatro Berga. The scaenae frons is the
elaborately decorated permanent architectural background of a Roman theatre stage. Normally there
are three entrances to the stage (Palmyra has five) including a grand central entrance, known as the
porta regia or royal door . The form may have been intended to resemble the facades of imperial
palaces.[1] The scaenae frons is often two and sometimes three stories in height and was central to the
theatre s visual impact for this was what was seen by a Roman audience at all times. Tiers or balconies
were supported by an exuberant display of columns, normally in the Corinthian order, often originally
including many statues in niches.[2] In smaller theatres it could support a permanent roof, enclosing
the whole theatre, and in larger ones awnings over the whole or parts of the theatre, perhaps secured to
masts rising above it, for which there is some evidence.[3]As well, Palladio s papers include plans for
the imagined reconstruction of the

Point Arena Mountain Beaver
The Point Arena mountain beaver (Aplodontia rufa nigra) is a federally listed endangered subspecies
that is restricted to the small area of Point Arena, in coastal Mendocino County, California (Zielinski,

burrowing rodent with small ears and eyes, and long whiskers and claws (National Park Service
(NPS), n.d.). The subspecies is semi fossorial, spending most of its five to six year lifespan in
underground burrows (United States Fish Wildlife Service (USFWS), 2011). The burrows are
typically found on moist and steep north facing slopes or in well drained gullies; each burrow contains
separate chambers for food storage, nesting, and excrement (NPS, ... Show more content on

The subspecies was also listed as a highest priority Species of Special Concern by the State of
California (USFWS, 1998). There are many factors that play into why the Point Arena mountain
beaver is classified as endangered. In addition to their low reproductive rate, according to USFWS
(1998), the vulnerability of the mountain beaver results from two reasons: 1) few populations with
extremely limited distribution; and 2) the number of individual populations are low. Habitat loss and
fragmentation is another concern for the Point Arena mountain beaver, any disaster, natural or
manmade, has the potential to impact the subspecies (USFWS, 1998). These threats include,
elimination or degradation from land development, livestock grazing, transportation and utility
corridors, invasion of alien plant species, and timber harvest (USFWS, 1998). Additional threats to the
subspecies include, predation by feral animals and household pets, poisoning, human caused
disturbances, clumped and fragmented distribution, vulnerability to localized catastrophic events, like
fires, storms, landslides, flooding, prolonged drought, and/or disease, and most notably genetic
isolation and drift (USFWS,

Regulatory Issues and Non-Tariff Barriers
3.2 Regulatory issues and non tariff barriers: a cap for the potential
Despite the high level of openness concerning trade, Appendix 1 and 2 show that trade partnership
between EU and US have been worsening compared to other area of the World. This is because
connections among trade and all other economic relations is higher and difficult to estimate; indeed
46% of TTIP stakeholders declared concerns about unnecessary regulatory barriers, 45% by tariffs,
38% by customs procedures and 20% by barriers to investment as obstacle to trade. (Commission
Staff working document, 2013).
Reducing non tariff barriers, so called behind the border barriers, will have to be the key part of
transatlantic trade liberalization. The cost of dealing with them can be estimated by Trade cost
equivalent (TCE) (See table 1 for 3 key industries). As much as 80% of the total potential gains come
from cutting costs imposed by bureaucracy and regulations, as well as from liberalizing trade in
services and public procurement, so the mandate of EC and US parliament clearly defines area of
concerns for TTIP:
Regulatory convergence: technical requirements and voluntary standards divergences in specific
sectors, such as chemical, automotive, ICT, pharmaceutical (European Commission, Mandate, 2013)
have been addressed ( see European Commission, Negotiations round, 2014). This can be achieved by
enhancing the compatibility by focusing on rules, which are different in US and EU; but with the same

Igrayne soon ruins the truce, and Merlin agrees to help Uther to seduce Igrayne on the condition that
he gives Merlin whatever results from his lust. Merlin transforms Uther into Cornwall s likeness with
the Charm of Making. Cornwall s daughter Morgana senses her father s mortal injury during his

Years later, the undefeated knight Lancelot blocks a bridge and will not move until he is defeated in
single combat, seeking a king worthy of his sword. Lancelot defeats Arthur and his knights, so Arthur
summons Excalibur s magic and defeats Lancelot, but Excalibur breaks. Arthur is ashamed of abusing
the sword s power to serve his own vanity and throws the sword s remains into the lake, while
admitting his mistake. The Lady of the Lake offers a restored Excalibur to the king, Lancelot is
revived, and Arthur and his knights unify the land. Arthur creates the Round Table, builds Camelot,
and marries Guenevere while Lancelot confesses that he has also fallen in love with her. Arthur s half
sister Morgana, a budding sorceress and still bitter towards Arthur, becomes apprenticed to Merlin in
hopes of learning the Charm of Making from him. Lancelot stays away from the Round Table to avoid
Guenevere. He meets Perceval, a peasant boy, and takes him to Camelot to become a squire. Sir
Gawain, under Morgana s influence, accuses Guenevere of driving Lancelot away, driven from us by a
woman s desire , forcing Lancelot to duel Gawain to defend his and Guenevere s honor. The preceding
night, Lancelot duels himself in a nightmare and awakens to find himself wounded by his own sword.
Arthur hastily knights Perceval when Lancelot is late to the duel, but Lancelot appears just in time and
defeats Gawain while nearly dying from his wounds. Merlin heals him, and he rides

The Effects Of Retrograde Amnesia On Memory
Cognitive Psychology helps us try to understand the human thought process and how we acquire,
process, and store information (www.careerinpsychology.org). Amnesia is just one of many aspects
that happens in the brain, and it hinders our memory. According to Solso, Otto and Kimberly, amnesia
is forgetting caused by problems in the brain. In chapter seven, we talked about two types of
Amnesias, and how they affect memory. Retrograde and Anterograde amnesia affect your memory as
well as, other disease processes like Alzheimer s and Korsakoff s syndrome. First, retrograde amnesia
is the memory loss for events prior to the brain injury (Solso, Otto, Kimberly, 2014). According to

Squat College Essay
Today, to much informations... let s get back to the basics.
I m gonna keep it short, if you want to build a warrior and functional body but also spend more time
doing what you love outside the gym spending hours training different body part everyday and
basically living in the gym you need to keep your workout efficient and focus on multi joint
compound movements (exercises that work multiple group of muscles at the same time). Don t get me
wrong, but a true warrior for me is not someone who lifts weight 2 hours everyday splitting each body
part. A true warrior is an athlete, someone build for any type of physical tasks, running, sprints, lifting
heavy weights, swimming, fighting and so on.
So if you are an athlete from any type of sports and looking to include complementary exercises into
your training routine, here are the 3 best exercises for you.

Myths and misconceptions
Many people will argue saying that partial squat ( parallel to the floor and not below the knee cap or
below parallel) is the way to go. I am telling you, partial squats are a good way to create muscle
imbalances and result in injuries.
Now, you could use partial squat for specific work and then combined with some other exercises in
order to fully train legs muscle but the point here is « to do less and get more results in less time »
remember time is important for us! For that reason I strongly recommend you to squat with proper
form (below parallel) in order to target the all leg, quads, glutes, hamstrings and calves and be time
efficient with your

People V. Larry Flynt Essay examples
The movie of focus, People vs. Larry Flynt , is a film by Milos Forman which stars Woody Harrelson
as Flynt. Larry Flynt is the president and publisher of Hustler magazine. Hustler is sort of the Mad
magazine of written pornography which was started in the early 1970 s. The interest for me was seeing
how this movie depicts the sexual exploitation of women in the sex industry with a specific look at
how the material devalues women.
The movie starts out in 1952 with a young Larry Flynt along with his younger brother peddling
moonshine somewhere in Kentucky. Twenty years later they own a strip club in Cincinnati, Ohio
called Hustler. Larry says, If we could let people know what great lays these girls are, we d have

However, they don t agree as a whole; the groups are split in half. Some feminists believe that
pornography doesn t degrade women; it empowers them and censorship of things like pornography
would only bring further discrimination. On the other hand, we have those right winged feminist who
sincerely believe that degradation of women in pornography leads to criminal acts such as rape. They
only reach a consensus in regards to strengthening their 1st Amendment Right by protesting against
pornography or supporting it.
Unsure of my opinion on the correlation of pornography and rape, I considered two articles: (1)
Egalitarian, sexist, and aggressive sexual materials: attitude effects and viewer responses; and (2) Men
s enjoyment of explicit erotica: effects of person specific attitudes and gender specific norms. In the
first article, research on sexual attitudes was conducted among a sample of college students in
Syracuse University. Hypothesis one was that both sexist and sexually aggressive scenes would
increase acceptance of sexist attitudes; Hypthothesis two was that only sexually aggressive scenes
would increase acceptance of rape myths and sexual coercion (Bauserman, 1988). Study one was
conducted to identify the ways in which the sample described what sexism and sexual aggression
meant to the sample. The second study examined change in attitude. Hypothesis one was weakly
supported. Hypothesis two was totally rejected. This

Analysis Of The Movie Arundel Partners
Arundel Partners wants to buy the rights to produce the sequels in advance rather than negotiating on a
film by film basis because otherwise, the studios will have an informational advantage. Later on in the
production process, studios will have a greater idea of the quality of the film, making them less likely
to sell the rights to more profitable sequels. Advanced rights to the entire portfolio of films mitigates
this informational asymmetry and creates an options pricing model for Arundel. There is value in
Arundel s right to forgo production of the sequel if they discover that the original is a flop. If Arundel
chooses to forgo producing a sequel, in this model they are now only taking a $2M loss. To the movie
studios, Arundel s proposal creates great value. By offering the cash for all movies in advance,
Arundel is providing upfront financing to the cash hungry studios, allowing them the resources to
pursue other projects, especially big budget blockbusters that have substantial negative costs. The
guaranteed profit of the sequel rights fees abolishes some risk for the studios, even though it
eliminates their potential upside. By purchasing the rights to an entire portfolio of films from the
studios, it also serves Arundel to diversify away the risks of individual films, much like investing in
diversified funds of market indexes. Based on the attached analysis, 26 of the 99 potential sequels are
profitable to pursue as they have a positive NPV. The NPV of the

Money In Ladies And Gentlemen By John Steinbeck
Money can cause people to change. In The Pearl by John Steinbeck, Kino finds a pearl with a
tremendous value, but after finding the pearl Kino s mindset changes from being wholesome to being

wanted, but as they got older all wanted they was money. Both authors use motifs and characterization

John Steinbeck uses motifs throughout his story support the theme. An example of motifs used in his

Willy Loman as a Tragic Hero in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Should Willy Loman of Arthur Millers classic, Death of a Salesman be regarded as a tragic hero, or
merely a working class, socially inadequate failure? Described by Miller as a self destructive, insecure
anti hero , it seems almost impossible for Loman to be what is known as a tragic hero in the classical
sense, but with the inclusion of other factors he maybe a tragic hero, at least in the modern context, or
partially suit one nonetheless.
To make the decision as to Whether Loman is a tragic hero or not, one must define the term tragic
hero and reveal its development in theatre over the course of time. The tragic hero ... Show more

Although Shakespeare tends to follow this pattern; his education may have led him to lesser liberal
thinking. Miller believes it may also include the modern common man. To relate Loman to the likes of
Lear, Hamlet, Oedipus, directly would be ludicrous but some comparisons can be made. As Biff states
Loman does follow the wrong dreams but he does work and he is just able to provide for his family
and pay off the mortgage. However it is clear that even Loman s best is not enough, this is shown by
the result of the borrowing of money from Charley. As salesmen are paid on commission Loman
cannot be faulted on this, as his age, work conditions and his mental state are all core contributors to
the fact he cannot make ends meet. The other tragic heroes have faults of which are the trigger of their
demise i.e. Othello s jealousy. Likewise Loman has his own faults, his main one being, and his belief
in the American dream. The American dream is a concept that, any one who works hard, can succeed
in the land of opportunity. This offers riches to those who start with nothing. Ben is a true
representation of this as Willy states, …a man started with the clothes on his back and ended up with
diamond mines… Loman has yet to achieve such a goal yet still holds on to the dreams at

Adam Lanza Case Study
Since the late 1970 s, there has been a strong correlation between mental health disorders and the
perpetrators of mass shootings. Up to 60% of the perpetrators have displayed symptoms including
acute paranoia, delusions and depression before committing their crimes (Metzl Macleish, 2015). In
the case of Adam Lanza, infamously known for the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the history of
his mental illnesses is quite extensive. However, it has been discovered that when it comes to mental
illnesses, it is not influenced by one factor, but rather many factors that have integrated into the
individual s life (Sue, 2014). These factors began affecting Lanza s life at only two years old,

Stereosonic Target Audience
1. Billboard, vehicle, street press and outdoor campaigns are used by Stereosonic to capture a larger
audience. Patron postcode data is used to place billboards and posters at key spots (Marketing
Magazine 2011). The majority of Australians spend more time out and about in summer (Adshel
Summer Campaign 2012). This increase the opportunity for Stereosonic s billboards and outdoor
advertisement to be seen. It is broadcasted by location, universities, bus/tram shelters, bus/tram
exteriors, shopping centres, malls, roadsides, free standing panels and mobile billboards (Huynh
2014). Future Music Festival uses this strategy too but also see guerrilla marketing as an effective
method (refer to Appendix A). Outdoor advertisement may be used to drive the target audience online
and in particular to the festival s website. Thus, billboards and outdoor advertisement is an expensive
advertisement method and may not be as appealing for small festivals like Listen Out nor bring much

Energy Efficient Housing is an important part of maintaining a stable and healthy environment. This is
because poor energy efficiency results in the pollution and greenhouse gas emissions that destroy the
environment we live in. Energy Efficient Housing can help prevent this because it will reduce the
greenhouse gas emissions and energy, as well as the benefit of saving money. Energy efficiency is the
key to a greener and healthier environment.
There are plenty of different ways to achieve energy efficiency, such as using renewable energy
sources such as solar power and properly designing a house to make the best use of natural light and

division which was in competition with L.L. Bean and Eddie Bauer did little in the
way of resolving the problems. Also they have sold off their Sears Hometown as well as Sears Outlet
stores. One thing that I think could have been done to prevent the problem
was that Sears should have never merged with K Mart. K Mart had declared bankruptcy three years
before and ended up closing a large number of stores. Secondly, I think
that K marts problem lied with the way they tried to be competitive with the number of stores they had
over anything else. By this I mean that the company should have followed
the strategy of Wal Mart and Target. Like I mentioned previously, Wal Mart focused on small town
stores and had distribution centers regionally located to those areas. That
is one way they were able to offer such low prices since they did not have to spend large sums of
money to ship goods from one end of the country to the other. Target

Uva-F-1560, Hertz
The bidding process for Hertz began when William Ford Jr. announced plans to explore strategic
alternatives for Hertz in April 2005. Two months later in June, an S 1 registration statement was filed
setting up a dual track process that would result in a Hertz IPO should other sale prospects fail. This
decision affects the bidding process in multiple ways. For one there is less time for the two bidding
groups to come up with a price and resulting agreement. They are forced to act quickly and find a
price that the Hertz management will agree upon. If they don t do this, then Hertz will just go through
with the IPO. This could lead to a driven up price, since the bidding groups will do whatever it takes
to win the bid.

ABS debt was not only less expensive (it carried a low interest rate around 4.5%), but it provided a
more flexible financing arrangement since debt could increase or decrease with fleet size. Also, senior
debt and purchase price multiples had increased to 4x EBITDA and 8x EBITDA respectively. These
numbers are used in coming up with a purchase price multiple, which is a key drive in finding the
enterprise value.
When trying to find the Enterprise Value for Hertz, the sponsor group took a couple key assumptions.
First off, management had projected transaction volume to grow 6.9% in 2005, which according to the
case is one of the key drivers of the rental car business. This seems to be a reasonable assumption
considering that travel was starting to rebound from the lows post 9/11. Also, the Bidding group
believed $400 $600 million in annual EBITDA savings was attainable by 2009 (confirmed by external
industry advisors). Hertz was behind in EBITDA margins, increasing operating expenses outpacing
revenue growth, the off airport growth strategy had significant losses, higher nonfleet capital
expenditures, Europe s RAC SG amp;A was 3 times higher than those in the U.S., and return on assets
lagged competitors. The bidding group thought by targeting these problem areas, and others, they
could generate higher profits. Another assumption

  • 2. Myth Of Roman Mythology In many cultures there are flood myths that normally pertain to angered Gods who release their anger by flooding the world to cleanse whatever caused the anger in the first place. In the Roman culture, one of the flood myths mentioned states that Jupiter had been angered by the evil that came with humanity and had wanted to burn the Earth. However, Jupiter had feared by doing so Heaven would be set ablaze as well and thus, with Neptune s help, flooded the Earth. The hero Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha had been the only two to survive. Jupiter had recognized their religious lifestyle had let them live and retracted the flood. Deucalion and Pyrrha had then repopulated the world by throwing stones behind them. In the Murato culture, there is a myth in which a man had been fishing in a lagoon of the Pastaza river, a crocodile had swallowed the fisherman s bait and the man killed the crocodile. The mother of crocodiles had been angered by this and had slashed the water with her tail creating a flood in the area and drowning everybody except for one man who had climbed up a palm tree. After the flood had subsided the man climbed down from the tree, cut off a piece of his flesh, planted it in the soil, and had grown a woman. He had then married the woman and begun to repopulate the world. The two flood myths mentioned above have a few similarities. The first is that the floods had come from the anger of powerful beings. The first story mentions that the God Jupiter had been angry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Misfit Meaning In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , written by Flannery O Connor in 1953, you will find that there are many different aspects and themes introduced into the story such as; mischief, self conception, grace, and the true meaning of a good man. This story is used to show how people view others, and about how finding a good man is hard to do which hints the title. Although this story doesn t have a happy ending, I believe that the intentions and meanings behind this story are very important in the end. First of all, O Connor uses the theme of mischief because the criminal s name is The Misfit and the story progresses to show how much trouble the misfit has actually gotten himself into. I believe the reason why O Connor used the name misfit to describe the criminal is because he wanted to portray how people judge and view others based on what they think they know. The Misfit does not always have to describe a bad man but is also does not have to represent a good man either. That is why O Connor used mischief in this story. Next, self conception is introduced into the story because the grandmother gets into the car with the family wearing a hat. The grandmother wants everyone to know, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The misfit kills because as he says no pleasure but meanness is being a good man . What is the true meaning of a good man ? It is hard in this story to pick out a character and prove he is a good man because no one knows the true meaning. Good can mean so many things. It can mean being nice to someone or sharing things with them. Or it could also mean sparing someone s life or killing them off because you can t leave any traces behind. It isn t easy to find a good man anymore these days because no one knows who is considered a good man and who is just trying to cover up their mistakes. Also, being a good man all the time is not as easy as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of Dorothea Tanning s Painting Eine Kleine Nachtmusik The composition I chose was Dorothea Tanning s painting Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. This painting depicts two girls alone in the hallway of a rundown hotel, playing with the larger than life sunflower which lays in the middle of the hallway, reaching which the stairwell. What intrigued me first about this painting was its use of color. The color scheme that Tanning employs is complimentary. As we know, a complementary color scheme means that two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel are primarily used. In this case, the complementary colors represented in the painting are red and green. Tanning shows a rich, blood red color in the carpeting as well as on the shirt of the girl leaning against the frame of on of the doors. Those deep reds complement the ivy green color of the hallway walls, the leaves on the large sunflower, and the vines from the flower as well. Another aspect of color in the painting that pulled me in was the balance of color temperature that is featured. There are many warm colors featured in this painting which makes the slight pop of cool colors stand out against each other. Of course, the warm colors Tanning uses in this painting are the deep reds in the carpeting and shirt, the dark brown of the doors, and the wooden stair flooring that run down the hall, as well as the eerie yellows featured in the sunflower and mysterious lighting leaking out into the hall from a slightly cracked door. Meanwhile, the warm colors are met with the cool whites in the young girls dresses and skirts. Plus, the frigid greens popping out from the walls along with the enormous vines and leaves. The greens stand out against the sunny yellows in the flower and three petals that have fallen from the sunflower, coupled with the deep warm reds that line the floor. Additionally, Tanning uses value in this painting to take each component and make it more lifelike and visually appealing. This is especially notable when looking at the sunflower and the girls. When focusing on the flower, the petals which stand the highest have a much brighter yellow to them when compared to the lower petals. This is because the lower petals do not stand in the light, which causes them to appear darker in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Spiral Of Silence In Animal Farm Neither a man nor a crowd nor a nation can be trusted to act humanely or to think sanely under the influence of a great fear(Russel). In the timeless allegory Animal Farm, a power hungry leader instills fear in a society of animals to manipulate their actions and ultimately consolidate power. These fear based responses are comparable to those of citizens in today s society who s fear leads to blind following and a spiral of silence . It s no surprise that fear is often used to ensure there will not be any questioning of regimes because it is so effective at turning citizens into blind followers. For example, Squealer questions the animals surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back? (Orwell) This is a huge threat to the animals as it means not only fighting another battle but also the last resort possibility that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Napoleon requests that the hen s eggs must be surrendered and traded for money and the hen s protest, to which Napoleon responds by stopping the hen s food rations(Orwell). When the hens voice their opinion, they are punished with the ultimate price of death. The Spiral of Silence Theory states that citizens are afraid to go against the majority side in fear of isolation or more extreme consequences (Mass Communication Theory). In this case, the extreme consequence is death, which is more than enough to keep the animals in check after witnessing this horrifying scene. Moreover, the spiral is reinforced when the sheep continuously bleat four legs good, two legs bad!(Orwell) . Blind following and the spiral of silence go hand in hand. When the sheep blindly yet confidently voice their opinion in favor of the majority, the minority feel like they are alone in their beliefs. They are further distanced from comfortably voicing their opinions and the fear induced spiral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Different Types Of Wines By Ernest Hemingway Essay Ernest Hemingway once said, Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing. More simply and literally put, wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of grapes. Wine making and drinking dates to thousands and thousands of years ago. In fact, the earliest record of vinification, or wine making, is placed in the Bible in Genesis 9:20 21 where it states that Noah planted a vineyard and drank wine produced from it around 4100 B.C. Over the years, people have experimented making different types of wines with different kinds of grapes, which have been split into 4 categories. These categories are Wild Vine, Indistinct Vitis Vinifera, Distinct Vitis Vinifera and Hybrids. These different types of wines have been divided into 5 different classifications which are Table Wine, Sparkling Wine, Dessert Wine, Fortified Wine and Aromatized Wine. Concurrently, these different wines are made in several different locations around the world. The top producing wine country is Italy with the United States falling not too far behind in 4th place. The wine that I will be focusing on in this paper is Syrah while the location is Santa Barbara, California. I will also speak about Syrah in relation to Santa Barbara and its significance on the region. Syrah s place of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Powerful Enlightened Depots Enlightened despotism is defined as a form of government in the 18th century in which absolute monarchs pursued legal, social, and educational reforms inspired by the Enlightenment (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica). The magnitude of the philosophy movement known as the Enlightenment sent ripples throughout Western society. The philosophers believed that in order to improve society they had to enlighten the monarchs. The views of the Enlightenment did to find their way inside the palaces of Europe s leaders; however, the monarchs retained their great power of absolute rule. Among these enlightened despots of the age were Frederick the Great of Prussia, Catherine the Great of Russia, and Joseph II of Austria. These leaders all attempted to bring their respective countries into a new age. The basis of enlightened despotism was the idea of improving the lives of a country s citizens. This concept of leadership during this time was ultimately a good idea, but it was not successfully exercised to its fullest extent. From a young age, Frederick the Great took a great liking to culture and literature. He was especially infatuated with the language and lifestyle of the French. The French philosopher Voltaire was a friend to Frederick and had a great influence on his Enlightenment ideals. He initially hid his love of the Enlightenment during his reign, but later he began to realize how the philosophies of the movement could actually advance and fortify his state. He ... After receiving many complaints about the relaxed punishment for low academic performance, the NCAA raised the stakes for doing badly in college. Although this originally seemed like a good thing, the NCAA covertly and subsequently lowered the standards for enrollment to these same colleges. Hence, less qualified people were subject to more pressure to succeed, and their fear of punishment spurred a series of scandals regarding academic fraud (Watkins 81). The purpose of academic fraud is to allow players to retain their eligibility, most commonly by inflating grades and by giving an easier course load. Many institutions such as Syracuse and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC), have been punished for academic fraud. UNC was discovered offering paper classes which only require a final paper which is graded lightly, to maintain GPA eligibility (Jacobs). Not only is the NCAA making more money, but they also cheating players out of an education, which is the sole purpose of college. The UNC scandal is a source of many academic disadvantages for the benefit of revenue, while their educations suffered, the athletes entertained Tar Heel fans, minted money for the school, and helped line the pockets of coaches and administrators. This was the first time I would be approaching a dialogue sermon and while we largely agreed we would craft our own sermons and combine them from there, everything was done in awareness that what I created would have to be something that could be added to or bounced back and forth with another topic from this text. It was also the first Advent sermon I would be giving so there were special considerations for that as well. The text was Matthew 3:1 12 and my first reading did not provide much encouragement. As John uses the Pharisees and Sadducees to say that Jesus will save everybody, who will the Pharisees and Sadducees in the modern world as I address my congregation? I would want to let them know that Jesus will save them all but I worried that by doing that after referencing John s words, my congregation might think I am likening them to the Pharisees and Sadducees when I certainly would not want them to think that. I also did not want to point to a group in our culture and say they are going to be saved as well if they seek Christ through repentance because I did not want to single out a group that needs more saving than any other group. Calling people to repentance is not commonly done in the Moravian Church and while I appreciate John s message that Jesus will save you as long as you repent, I did not think this could be the main point of the sermon. The scaenae frons is the elaborately decorated permanent architectural background of a Roman theatre stage. Normally there are three entrances to the stage (Palmyra has five) including a grand central entrance, known as the porta regia or royal door . The form may have been intended to resemble the facades of imperial palaces.[1] The scaenae frons is often two and sometimes three stories in height and was central to the theatre s visual impact for this was what was seen by a Roman audience at all times. Tiers or balconies were supported by an exuberant display of columns, normally in the Corinthian order, often originally including many statues in niches.[2] In smaller theatres it could support a permanent roof, enclosing the whole theatre, and in larger ones awnings over the whole or parts of the theatre, perhaps secured to masts rising above it, for which there is some evidence.[3]As well, Palladio s papers include plans for the imagined reconstruction of the ... • 27. Analysis Of The Movie Arundel Partners Arundel Partners wants to buy the rights to produce the sequels in advance rather than negotiating on a film by film basis because otherwise, the studios will have an informational advantage. Later on in the production process, studios will have a greater idea of the quality of the film, making them less likely to sell the rights to more profitable sequels. Advanced rights to the entire portfolio of films mitigates this informational asymmetry and creates an options pricing model for Arundel. There is value in Arundel s right to forgo production of the sequel if they discover that the original is a flop. If Arundel chooses to forgo producing a sequel, in this model they are now only taking a $2M loss. To the movie studios, Arundel s proposal creates great value. By offering the cash for all movies in advance, Arundel is providing upfront financing to the cash hungry studios, allowing them the resources to pursue other projects, especially big budget blockbusters that have substantial negative costs. The guaranteed profit of the sequel rights fees abolishes some risk for the studios, even though it eliminates their potential upside. By purchasing the rights to an entire portfolio of films from the studios, it also serves Arundel to diversify away the risks of individual films, much like investing in diversified funds of market indexes. Based on the attached analysis, 26 of the 99 potential sequels are profitable to pursue as they have a positive NPV. The NPV of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Willy Loman as a Tragic Hero in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Should Willy Loman of Arthur Millers classic, Death of a Salesman be regarded as a tragic hero, or merely a working class, socially inadequate failure? Described by Miller as a self destructive, insecure anti hero , it seems almost impossible for Loman to be what is known as a tragic hero in the classical sense, but with the inclusion of other factors he maybe a tragic hero, at least in the modern context, or partially suit one nonetheless. To make the decision as to Whether Loman is a tragic hero or not, one must define the term tragic hero and reveal its development in theatre over the course of time. The tragic hero ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Shakespeare tends to follow this pattern; his education may have led him to lesser liberal thinking. Miller believes it may also include the modern common man. To relate Loman to the likes of Lear, Hamlet, Oedipus, directly would be ludicrous but some comparisons can be made. As Biff states Loman does follow the wrong dreams but he does work and he is just able to provide for his family and pay off the mortgage. However it is clear that even Loman s best is not enough, this is shown by the result of the borrowing of money from Charley. As salesmen are paid on commission Loman cannot be faulted on this, as his age, work conditions and his mental state are all core contributors to the fact he cannot make ends meet. The other tragic heroes have faults of which are the trigger of their demise i.e. Othello s jealousy. Likewise Loman has his own faults, his main one being, and his belief in the American dream. The American dream is a concept that, any one who works hard, can succeed in the land of opportunity. This offers riches to those who start with nothing. Ben is a true representation of this as Willy states, …a man started with the clothes on his back and ended up with diamond mines… Loman has yet to achieve such a goal yet still holds on to the dreams at ... Up to 60% of the perpetrators have displayed symptoms including acute paranoia, delusions and depression before committing their crimes (Metzl Macleish, 2015). In the case of Adam Lanza, infamously known for the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the history of his mental illnesses is quite extensive. However, it has been discovered that when it comes to mental illnesses, it is not influenced by one factor, but rather many factors that have integrated into the individual s life (Sue, 2014). It was believed that removing him from normal classes would aid him and his development, however others carried a different opinion that it would hurt him instead by isolating him. He carried these developmental delays throughout his childhood before he was redeemed as adequate to return to normal classes in the fourth grade after passing a speech exam. At this time, Lanza s mother felt that it would be fitting to have him moved to a Catholic school, which created a sense of indifference in Adam Lanza. It caused many anti social issues and caused him to feel like an outcast within his school. Patron postcode data is used to place billboards and posters at key spots (Marketing Magazine 2011). The majority of Australians spend more time out and about in summer (Adshel Summer Campaign 2012). This increase the opportunity for Stereosonic s billboards and outdoor advertisement to be seen. I will be discussing the successful union of Heinz Corporation, Berkshire Hathaway/3G and Kraft foods. In addition I will be writing about the unsuccessful merger of K mart Corporation and Sears. I feel that the success and failure of these mergers are important because they involve the future of products that consumers purchase every day and have related to for most of their lives. In fact, Sears has seen a consistent drop in revenue since 2011 and overall sales have be down since 2006. Even selling off their Lands End division which was in competition with L.L. Bean and Eddie Bauer did little in the way of resolving the problems. Also they have sold off their Sears Hometown as well as Sears Outlet stores. One thing that I think could have been done to prevent the problem was that Sears should have never merged with K Mart. K Mart had declared bankruptcy three years before and ended up closing a large number of stores. Secondly, I think that K marts problem lied with the way they tried to be competitive with the number of stores they had over anything else. By this I mean that the company should have followed the strategy of Wal Mart and Target. Like I mentioned previously, Wal Mart focused on small town stores and had distribution centers regionally located to those areas. That is one way they were able to offer such low prices since they did not have to spend large sums of money to ship goods from one end of the country to the other. Target ... Two months later in June, an S 1 registration statement was filed setting up a dual track process that would result in a Hertz IPO should other sale prospects fail. This decision affects the bidding process in multiple ways. For one there is less time for the two bidding groups to come up with a price and resulting agreement. They are forced to act quickly and find a price that the Hertz management will agree upon. If they don t do this, then Hertz will just go through with the IPO. This could lead to a driven up price, since the bidding groups will do whatever it takes to win the bid. Hertz is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ABS debt was not only less expensive (it carried a low interest rate around 4.5%), but it provided a more flexible financing arrangement since debt could increase or decrease with fleet size. Also, senior debt and purchase price multiples had increased to 4x EBITDA and 8x EBITDA respectively. These numbers are used in coming up with a purchase price multiple, which is a key drive in finding the enterprise value. When trying to find the Enterprise Value for Hertz, the sponsor group took a couple key assumptions. First off, management had projected transaction volume to grow 6.9% in 2005, which according to the case is one of the key drivers of the rental car business. This seems to be a reasonable assumption considering that travel was starting to rebound from the lows post 9/11. Also, the Bidding group believed $400 $600 million in annual EBITDA savings was attainable by 2009 (confirmed by external industry advisors). Hertz was behind in EBITDA margins, increasing operating expenses outpacing revenue growth, the off airport growth strategy had significant losses, higher nonfleet capital expenditures, Europe s RAC SG amp;A was 3 times higher than those in the U.S., and return on assets lagged competitors.
