Tuskegee Airmen Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of the Tuskegee Airmen poses a notable challenge due to the
depth of historical context, the necessity for comprehensive research, and the need for nuanced
analysis. Firstly, delving into the history of the Tuskegee Airmen requires a thorough
understanding of not only their military contributions during World War II but also the broader
socio-political context of racial segregation in the United States Armed Forces at the time. This
demands meticulous research encompassing primary sources, scholarly articles, and historical
accounts to accurately depict the challenges faced by these pioneering African American aviators.
Moreover, effectively conveying the significance of the Tuskegee Airmen's achievements
necessitates a balanced approach that highlights their valor while also addressing the systemic
racism they confronted within the military establishment and society at large. This requires a
sensitive handling of sensitive topics such as racial discrimination, institutional barriers, and the
complexities of identity and representation. Crafting a compelling narrative that captures the
resilience, courage, and trailblazing spirit of the Tuskegee Airmen while also critically examining
the broader implications of their story adds another layer of complexity to the essay-writing
process.
Additionally, ensuring the essay's coherence and cohesion demands adept organization and
structure to present a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates historical facts, personal
accounts, and analytical insights. This entails careful planning, drafting, and revising to maintain
a cohesive flow of ideas and arguments throughout the essay.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the Tuskegee Airmen is a challenging endeavor that
requires extensive research, thoughtful analysis, and skillful writing to effectively convey the
complexities of their story and its historical significance. However, with dedication and
perseverance, it is possible to produce a compelling and insightful essay that honors the legacy of
these remarkable individuals.

The Canon Of Medicine Summary
Born in 980 A.D., during the eleventh century in Uzbekistan, philosopher physician
Ibn Sina also known as Avicenna in Europe, wrote a comprehensive medical
encyclopedia called the Canon of Medicine. The Canon of Medicine is considered as
one of the most famous books in the history of medicine. The Persian physician was a
paramount figure in the history of Islamic medicinefor he was best known for his
advancements and contributes to other Greek physicians philosophy and medical
theories. His work was so methodical that he was later considered as the father of
early modern medicine or the prince of physicians . Avicennafinished writing The
Canon of Medicineprior to his twenty first birthday, in which he provides detailed
yet concise notes and findings of his medical research in addition to writing many
comments about other medical theories. However, the physician philosopher also
acquired many other achievements in different and diverse fields, such as
mathematics, poetry, music theory, and religion. The Canon of Medicine Volume I
primarily focuses on general principles of Avicenna s medicine; it can also be
perceived as an introductory text for medical students. As his method of research,
Avicenna wrote in his book summarizations and synthesis based on Hippocrates,
Galen, and Aristotle; in addition to incorporating some of his own observations and
facts. This book has imprinted major impacts on other physicians and on medical
practices as well, where it widened the

Role of the School Counsellor

THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL COUNSELLOR
School counselling is a branch of applied psychology that deals with problems or
behaviours that interfere with the academic progress or social acceptance of children
in the school system. School counsellors assess cognitive functioning and identify
mental retardation, giftedness, developmental delays, instructional difficulties, and
learning disabilities. They recommend educational programs; assess behavioural and
emotional problems, and support parents and teachers. They also deal with the full
spectrum of social problems including family violence, peer interactions, substance
abuse, sexual abuse, neglect and the influences of these problems on school
functioning. School counsellors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The history of school counselling around the world varies greatly based on how
different countries and local communities have chosen to provide academic, career,
college readiness, and personal skills and competencies to students from kindergarten
to standard twelve and their families based on economic and social capital resources
and public versus private educational settings in what is now called a school
counselling program. In the United States of America, the profession of the school
counsellor began as a vocational guidance movement at the beginning of the twentieth
century (Schmidt, 2003). In India, school counsellors are still not prominent. Their
roles in the school setting are still not properly recognized and understood by the
other educators. School counselling is a recent development. The impetus for
development of school based counselling has a number of causes, according to Bor.
He says that everyday life can be challenging and stressful for even the most resilient
of children. Competitiveness, bullying,

social exclusion, homophobia, abuse, family crises, discrimination, sibling rivalry,
scholastic underachievement, peer pressure and substance misuse are only a few
problems that children bring to the school counsellor s office. Schools are no

essential context for supporting, nurturing and facilitating educational, moral and
social development in

The Indian Judicial System
The Indian Judicial System has always been vigilant about the rights of children for
they are the most valuable assets of the nation. It goes as a fact that development of
children in a society and the development of nation as a whole go hand in hand and
the most potent role in achieving such development is played by Education. Keeping
this in mind, the India Judiciary emerges as a sign of commitment towards
eradication of poverty and illiteracy from the country. The emergence of Right to
Education as a Fundamental Right still has been an elusive goal had Judiciary not
stepped in. The commendable role of judiciary in elevating the status of Right to
Education from a Directive Principle to a Fundamental Right can be traced through a
catena of cases. In the year 1993, Supreme Court turned the wheel of education the
Supreme Court through its tendency towards broad and normative enunciations of
positive rights. The best illustration of this trend can be traced in the famous Mohini
Jain s case and Unnikrishnan s case wherein the Supreme Court ruled that Article 45
in Part IV has to be read in harmonious construction with Article 21 (Right to Life) in
Part III of the Constitution, as Right to Life loses its significance without education.
The apex Court made the following powerful interpretation: It is thus well established
by the decisions of this Court that the provisions of Part III and IV are supplementary
and complementary to each other and that fundamental rights are

If we skip back a little, in the first chapter of Vermeer s Hat: The seventeenth
Century and the Dawn of the Global World, Brook discusses Vermeer s first painting,
View of Delft. This painting is one of the only outdoor scenes Vermeer had painted
that is still in existence. The first window Brook opens for his readers in this

Brook first uses the herring buses in this painting to open a window into the

herring buses give Timothy Brook a window to talk about the climate change and
sickness in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In these two centuries, the

Hillary Clinton is one of the most well known politicians of our time but what is
her story? Hillary Clinton was under the name Hillary Rodham on October 26,

she would first live in Chicago but then, at the age of three, in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Gag Rule
The implications of Donald Trump s reinstatement of the Gag Rule on birth control
are deadly for men, women, and children, and pose dangerous setbacks for the
ongoing struggle against HIV/AIDS. Such legislation from a nation with considerable
influence over health policy aggravates a global trend of limited abortionaccess; only
30% of the nations in the world today grant women abortions for any reason. Safe
abortion practices are often underutilized due to varying case restrictions, leading
many women to continue pursuing illegal, unsanitary, and dangerous alternative
abortions. These practices are of grave concern to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, which
UNAIDS seeks to eradicate by the year 2030. Unsafe abortions are statistically
prevalent in women who suffer from HIV/AIDS, as they pose a high risk for
transmission of the disease to their children and complications post birth. Suffering
from medical discrimination that prevents some pregnant women from receiving
safe abortions even in legally permissible conditions, HIV positive women have the
lowest quality of access to safe prenatal and abortion services, and Trump s Gag Rule

medical center formerly known as Seattle Grace Hospital, but over the course of the

Budweiser Vs Pepsi
The amount of money spent on Super Bowl commercials never ceases to amaze

people looked forward to the commercials more than the actual game but after the
last few years of mundane ads and big name products scaling back, the commercials

The Neo Realist Thinking Of Waltz Along With John
Mearsheimer
Neo realism, also known as structural realism or system level theory outlined in
Theory of International Politics (1979) has been Kenneth Waltz s response to the
Realism theory by Hans Morgenthau (1948). The neo realist thinking of Waltz along
with John Mearsheimer, Robert Keohane, Stephen Krasner, Charles Kindleberger and
Robert Tucker George Modelski had a deep impact both within and beyond the realist
tradition. Unlike classical realism, Neo realism does not consider human nature as
relevant when it comes to the behaviour of states in international system rather
explains it in terms of structure of the international system. As per neo realists, the
international structure is predominately defined by their ordering principles
(anarchy) and the distribution of capabilities (power) across units. In the neo realist
theory, power is simply the combined capability of a state and changes in the
structures can be explained by the distribution of power across the states. Waltz
claimed that any theory of international relationsshould be able to tell both about the
units states and the system as a whole.
This essay will focus on the neo realist approach of International relations and explain
why, according to the neo realists, states want power and argue how much power
states should aim to control. The first section of the essay will introduce the concept
of power within the international relations context and then the second section will
delve into the question of why in
A Critique Of Service Quality Models
Regarding the various service quality models discussed in section 2.3.1 to 2.3.9 the
gap model considers the perceptions and expectations of the customers, the gap being
the difference between expectations and perceptions (P E). The model resulted in five
dimensions that are generic in nature. However, other models such as Technical and
Functional Quality Model , Perception only Model and Evaluated Performance and
Normed Quality Model consider only the perceptions of the customers. Technical and
Functional Quality Model describes three components such as technical quality (the
quality received by the customer), functional quality (how the quality is received by
the customer) and corporate quality (how quality is delivered by the organization). In

of service quality [48]. Despite a leading instrument in measuring service quality, a
number of studies have raised concern about it [156,168 171]. These criticisms
relates to conceptual, methodological and analytical issues in SERVQUAL. The
primary issue raised in the literature is the conceptualization of service quality as the
difference between perception and expectation [159]. Cronin and Taylor, reiterate
their views against the disconfirmation based SERVQUAL scale of measuring
service quality and continued to be proponents of their perception only approach to
service quality measurement. Further, the use of the perception and expectation gap
measure of service also raises related analytical concerns about its low reliability,
poor discriminant validity and spurious correlations [168 170]. Parasuraman et al.

Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Oedipus
The protagonists in the plays Hamlet and Oedipus Rex share a commonality in
terms of serving justice for the death of their past king; however, in terms of free
will, these princes are polar opposites. In the first instance, both protagonists differ
greatly as a result of their fate, while Hamlet is given a task that he can choose to
obey or dismiss, Oedipusis given a prophecy that forecasts how his life will go down.
From this alone, it s clear how Hamlets destiny is in his hands, yet as for Oedipus, he
will fulfill his prophecy whether he likes it or not. As a result of this, Hamlet is
able to think and logically configure how to complete the task, however, Oedipus
acts so impulsively that he is unable to think properly before acting. While Hamlet
is able to conduct himself with such control that he can even trick others that his
mad, Oedipus loses his mind and acts crazily and rashly. Since Hamlet is able to
freely do his task, he is able to die honorably, while Oedipus could not feel satisfied
with his actions because he did them unknowingly and unwillingly. Shakespeare s
Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus appear to be similar because of their circumstances,
but in terms of their struggle between fate and free will Hamlet is at an advantage.
There is a substantial difference between being foretold what will happen and
receiving a task, this difference comes into play when contrasting with the freedom
Oedipus and Hamlet are given. In Oedipus case he is given a

Heritage parks aim is to expand the business and their objectives are to fill up all
their business and room spaces, increase the awareness of the existence of the hotel

achievement of these aims and objectives may be supported by the online presence
because tourists and companies on business trips may be looking for a hotel in the
area that specialises in various activities. Since the hotel has a wide range of
amenities they can cover the majority of their customers interests and for business
meetings the hotel has rooms especially designed for the purpose.
The online presence of the hotel means that the customers can actually see pictures
of the hotel, leisure centre, bedrooms, restaurant and business rooms giving the
customer an idea from where they are sat rather than having to visit the hotel first.
Online booking is effective as it is a much quicker way of bringing money into the

Talent management involves a series of steps, seeking then strategizing. Talent

Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper
For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend

had to try it. However, finding it in a store was more complicated than I had
originally assumed it would be. Finally my husband was able to find it in a 2 liter

smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was
chocolate. The smell was so strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the

hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a nice shade of
red which gave the drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The
first drink of Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I
expected to taste more cherry than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The
chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult to notice any other flavors.
The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very bitter
aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there
were hints of Dr. Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at
a new flavor from Dr. Pepper was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would
have thought combining three of my favorite things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr.
Pepper would have made

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
The Tennessee Valley Authority
There was a time in the history of the United States when utilities such as electricity
and water were not owned and operated by the government and instead fell in the
hands of private enterprise. President Frank D. Roosevelt changed all that at the
height of the Great Depression by expanding the government role in the economy by
establishing the policy of the New Deal. One of the New Deal projects was the
Tennessee Valley Authority
, which was opposed by the privately owned companies
that already controlled the market for utilities. While many felt that the government
had exceeded its constitutional powers, the TVA demonstrated its efficacy by not
only improving the economy but also paved foundations for other projects modeled
in its image.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was United States federal agency that was
founded in 1933 for purposes of controlling floods in the southern valleys of the
Appalachians. The project was intended to control flooding, improve the
Mississippi, so it was navigable, and improve the standards of life for farmers, as
well for production of electricity. Before the valley project, the Tennessee River
experienced perennial flooding and was not navigable for ships ... Show more content

First, the private industry had collapsed, so the government had to take the mantle of
job creations. Such activities were primarily done to increase the quality of life in the
short term by increasing the working population, but they also had a futuristic
element to ensuring that the Great Depression did not happen again. The first
consequence of the TVA was the rapid modernization of the United States even as the
country was going through a hard time. The country was able to come out of the
Great Depression a modernized industrial economy with strong labor rights which
continue to influence the lives of the Tennessee Valley Authority citizens today (Kline,
Pet Therapy
Pet therapy can be dated as far back as prehistory time when humans noticed that
animals were not only used for food, but they were also friends and companions.
Animal facilitated therapy is one of the newer forms of medicine used throughout
the nation. The origin of animal facilitated therapy can be traced as far back as 18th
century. The York Retreat, founded in 1792 by the Quaker merchant William Tuke,
was cited to be the first use of animal facilitated therapy. Instead of harsh forms of
treatment, the York Retreat emphasized positive means to control behavior. Animals
could be found all over the retreat, and the patients were encouraged to learn to care
after them. The York Retreat is used as a model today in the form of... Show more

The programs for the blind and deaf often are the first to come to mind, but animals
also are placed with disabled, elderly, or chronically ill individuals.
2. Part time companions include animals that are used on a loan basis. They may be
left with a person for periods of time but are generally the responsibility of someone
else. This includes pets visiting the elderly at home or in nursing care facilities. Some
of these animals are entertainers, whereas others are friends and lovers. Most often,
the pet stewards are volunteers and they and their animal have been psychologically
screened, as in the Pet Partner Program of the Delta Society.
3. The mascot or group pet essentially resides in the therapeutic setting itself, such as
a psychiatric or nursing home, a children s ward, or a half way house. These animals
provide companionship in the broadest sense for all residents and patients. As such,
they are available to everyone, including the staff.

Michael Cunningham s White Angel
The ideal family of parents and a few kids typically does bonding activities. As time
goes by, they grow to love each other more by doing things together. The rebellious
lives led by the narrator, Robert, and his brother, Carlton, in White Angel by Michael
Cunningham reveal a lack of such family bonding. The descriptions of the
interactions between Carlton and his mothershow the mother s lack of authority over
him. Additionally, the father s apparent lack of parental assertiveness reveals a lack
of authority over both Carlton and Robert. As a result, the narrator views Carlton as
more of a guardian than either of his parents. It becomes clear that the isolation of the
parents is responsible for the unruly lives of their sons. Robert... Show more content

statement is immensely important to the reader s understanding of how Carlton was
raised or rather how he raised himself because it reveals a lack of intervention and
control in Carlton s life by his parents. Another brilliant message conveyed by the
mud scene is how yielding the father is. The father, who is described as being worn
down by too much patience (Cunningham 235), lightly recommends that Carlton
clean up the mess. The father s involvement in this scene illustrates that Carlton was
never really punished for wrongdoings, thus making it difficult to learn from his
mistakes. Because Carlton was raised without much supervision and punishment, and
because he is Robert s role model, Robert eventually decides to test his mother s
boundaries. We see this at the party when Robert protests his bedtime. When
confronted by his mother, Robert runs to Carlton in search of defense. While Carlton
ultimately doesn t help the cause, the trust we see when Robert resorts to his brother
reinforces the idea that he takes from his brother, not so much his
The Link Between Nazi Propaganda And The Holocaust
Essay
Hitler believed that propaganda from the allies was the main reason that the
Germans lost during World War I and felt that this form of warfare needed to be a
primary tool in modern warfare. He spoke of this belief in his book Mein Kampf
well before the start of the second World War. Hitler felt that the public needed to be
inundated with the ideology of the state at all times and through all mediums (Jowett
and O Donnell 2). To do this, he said everything from child s story book to the last
newspaper, every theater, every cinema and every advertisement must be brought into
the service of this single mission (qt. in Qualter ix). This onslaught of propaganda led
to the Holocaustby leaving no other option open to the German people... Show more

The Nazi s did use propaganda in this negative sense but in an underhanded and
subversive way. They backed up all their false reports with scientific studies and
claims of a better human race.
Propaganda is hard to define as most definitions do not cover the full meaning of
the word. The Webster s Illustrated Encyclopedic Dictionary defines propaganda as
the systematic propagation or discrediting of a given doctrine or cause by
circulation of polemical material, such as posters and leaflets (1353). However, this
definition does not cover the full scope of the of the word. Terence Qualter also feels
the definition for propaganda needs to be more refined for its new usage. The
definition that he gives is the deliberate attempt...(to) form, control, or alter the
attitudes of other groups...(with) the use of the instruments of communication (27
28). He goes on to say that the propaganda must be aimed at the group in general
because that is the basic nature of the word, in that the most effective propaganda is
the propaganda which has a large audience. Qualter does mention, however, that there
need be no difference in the propaganda to persuade one and the propaganda to
persuade the many (28). Germany did this by controlling the flow of information into
the country.

but after the 10 years nothing happened. Puzzled by what the next step would be,
Noah and her family heard an unexpected knock on their door. It was an agent from
a new electric company called M Power. This agent told Noah that she could install

In order to promote energy supply and economic development, which is the core of
this paper, the author argued that the idea behind the project was not to tap the
energy from the sun to electrify these remote communities. Rather, it was geared
towards installing small solar panels that were not much bigger than an iPad to
power the basic appliances (light bulbs, cell phone, and other basic necessities that
can alter people s lives) in those homes (2015). This demonstrates the economic as
well as the energy efficiency side of this study, which I believe Hallett will accept.
The author also argues that going small better fits the budget of rural Tanzanians and
the money saved from buying kerosene and other oil to lighten their homes were
used for other things. This concept is known as pay as you go. This concept was far
cheaper and affordable than what the government of Tanzania and some big energy
companies were offering, the author claimed (2005). In the final analysis, some
energy experts raised economic concerns that solar installations in rural communities
were costly and that the power offered by grids is too limited to meet the growing
needs of African countries (Galliot, 2015). For example, a senior fellow (Mwangi
Kimenyi) with the Africa Growth Initiative at the Brookings Institute in Washington

Religious Conflicts In The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales is a collection of 24 stories written in Middle English by
Geoffrey Chaucer. The tales are about a group of Pilgrims traveling to Canterbury
to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at the Canterbury Cathedral. Out of the
24 tales I have chosen the Prioress to be my favorite. The Prioress was my first
choice because the religious aspect of the tale and how religious conflict has been
such a huge problem for life back then and now. The Prioress tale starts off with a
prologue. The Prologue is about the Prioress (Madame Eglentyne) praying to the
Virgin Mary. Then, the prioress tale begins. This tale is placed in Asia and is about
a boy who walks through a Jewish ghetto in a Christian city. The boy is singing O
Alma Redemptoris, a salute to the Blessed Lady, while walking through the Jewish
ghetto. This angers the Jewish people who were listening to the words of the devil.
They then hired a murder who slit the boy s throat and threw him in a pit. The boy
s widow mother then goes searching for her son and begging everyone, including
the Jews, to tell her where her son was. She then gets an idea from Jesus to sing
where her son was thrown in the pit. Although the boy s throat was slit, he begins to
sing his Alma Redemptoris. Amazed by the boys singing, fellow Christians ran to
the pit and went to get the provost. The Prioress was a religious figure in her tale
and therefore making her part of the ecclesiastical class. She was a member of the
church and
My Summer Camp Experience
This Summer, I had the best time of my life. I learned some valuable lessons, I
made some friends, and I had so much fun. Even if I didn t know it. This is the
story of my summer camp experience.About two months earlier had signed up for a
Camp in Indiana called YMCA Camp Potawotami. My neighbor who is a year
younger than me went to camp with me. We got to our summer camp on the Sunday
before. I had a lot of fun, but my part of this event, is when the girls in my cabin and
I became true friends.
We walked back from swim time and going onto the walk to our cabin. Our cabin
was one of the older cabins, but it was nice. The building was a Wooden log
building with two main hallways, one for the boys and one for the girls, which both
came together in a main room that had one huge window wall, in the middle, and two
other walls on the side that had one huge window in the middle.
Ok girls, pack up your stuff for camping, but remember we re only going for one
night. Our councilor ,Greer, told us. So we packed our stuff in bags and went to set
up our tents.
We walked about half a mile up a grassy path with woods to the left, and a field of
wheat to the right. We came to a clearing that was in the shape of a circle. With it,
were two tents packed up in their tiny little bags in the middle of a circle, along
with a fire pit, and a picnic table. Ok, we need everyone to help set up, no one
should be doing nothing. Kylie exclaimed, who was our second councilor After about

The Red Convertible Essay examples
The Red Convertible Vanished Brotherhood
In the short story The Red Convertible you will find some important elements that
are integral to the support and development of the theme brotherhood. First, you will
see how the road trip gives a lesson in the story. Second, you will discover how the
war affected the relationship of Lyman and Henry. Finally, you will understand the
symbolism of the red convertible and the link it has between both brothers. One
important element that has a powerful lesson in the story is the road trip. While
Lyman and Henry went on a drive one afternoon, they met a girl named Susy in the
middle of the road. Susy had her hair in buns around her ears and was very short.
They let her jump in the car and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this point on, Henry did not even look at the car that he and Lyman owned
together. Obviously, they did not travel anymore or went anywhere together as
before. This bothered Lyman, and attempting to bring him back to his own self,
Lyman destroys the car and waits for Henry to find it. When Henry finds it, he
begins fixing it, and as months passed by, he begins to act a little different. He was
not as jumpy and disturbed as he was when he returned from the war. He finishes
with the car, leaving it almost as good as it was before. He invites Lyman to go on
a ride as they used to do before. They arrived at the river and begin drinking beer
and laughing together. All of a sudden, Henry says, got to cool me off and troughs
himself in the river, and let the current take him. Before he was gone he said, My
boots are filling . He probably meant that he was tired of living, waiting for his
dreams and hopes to be fulfilled and being stuck in two different cultures. After
Henry says this, he finally disappears, separating what was once a relationship
between two brothers.
The car is one of the most important elements that develops and supports the theme
brotherhood. The car is a symbol that is meant to show Lyman and Henry s close
bond, and it holds the key to their definitive separation. The red convertible is also a
symbol of success, and a connection to the white world for both Henry and Lyman I

Blinker Broken Essay
It seems fitting to tell the story that forced me to take a look at how I approached
being offended and what I understood about forgiveness.
I have never been fond of traffic. I am even less fond of rude and inconsiderate
drivers. Since I was a commuter I drove at least 100 miles a day just to get to and
from work. I found plenty of opportunities to get angry and take driving mistakes
personally.
I took the same route from work to the freeway everyday. You saw many of the
same people, most of them strangers, but now faces that I saw every day. There was
a man who every day ,at the same intersection, turned from the center lane and drove
through the turn lane illegally with no signal and no warning. Cars honked. People

leaped out of my car and my voice was most certainly louder than probably necessary.
Hey, is your blinker broken?
No.
Sir, at the intersection of 2700 South and 600 you routinely turn from the middle
lane, completely cross the turning lane and to make your turn. Cars honk, I have
seen at least 3 have to go off the road to avoid collision and even here you did not use
your blinker. This needs to stop.

Privacy Issues In Brave New World
In the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, privacy is something that doesn t
exist. In the story set in a dystopian future everybody knows everything about
everybody, nothing is left a secret. People discuss their personal affairs with others
in public; for example, when Lenina talks to Bernard about their date in the locker
room, Bernard feels very uncomfortable, but Lenina is fine with it because
everyone knows about others and about whom they are going out with. Also, at the
end of the novel, all the people and media gather at the savage s house to interview
him and see him whip himself. Similarly, in the society privacy of people is being
compromised, courtesy of the USA PATRIOT Act. This act violates people s right to
due process, right to privacy and right to protection against unreasonable search and
seizures. These rights are given to people by the constitution: the right to due process
is in the fifth amendment of the bill of rights, and the right to protection against
unreasonable search and seizures is in the fourth amendment of the bill of rights. The
United States Constitution does not contain any explicit right to privacy. However,

Importance Of Graphic Design
The career that I am researching is graphic design. A graphic designer helps to
make an organization recognizable by using a variety of mediums to communicate
a particular idea or identity to be used in advertising and promotions. Some
examples of things that graphic designers create/do are; colours, fonts, animations,
photography, print designs, logos, images, pictures, and billboards. They use a
variety of design elements to help an advertisement, brochure, magazine, or
corporate report be artistically appealing and stand out. They also collaborate
closely with other graphic designers, writers, programmers, artists, or other creative
people in order for their projects to be as appealing as possible. Graphic designis
important to society because it gives organizations and companies a face. It allows
the consumer to have feelings about a product just by looking at it. The
importance of graphic design is only increasing because with the growing reach of
technology, it is extremely important for a company to be noticed. A typical day
working as a graphic designer involves meetings, creating your project, revising
your project, and presentations. Graphic design is not a physically strenuous job
and is a job that people of all body types can do.
Many personal traits are required for a person to be a successful graphic designer.
Some of these traits are; artistic skills, creativity, strong verbal, visual, and written
communication skills, ability to work independently and

Informative Essay On Wine
Everyone has bought up some fantastic points. Many years ago when I started my
education on wine (still learning) one of my mentors said something that I will

develop over time. That said, wines need many things to develop and provide the
extra layers of complexity that we are all after. There has been many technological
advancements to help screen corks for TCA to lower the impacts in wines. Truth
is, cork may be the primary source of TCA but it is definitely not the only one. A few
wineries have been impacted by TCA independent of cork. When I first saw screw

position.Evidence from twin studies suggest that there is a link between genetics and
schizophrenia. However, while certain aspects of mental ill health appears to be

The service is a passive patient under this model.
The psychodynamic model focuses on the individual s development to explain mental
health difficulties. Psychodynamic therapies developed from Sigmund Freud s work
in which he proposed several stages of developed and suggested that if these stages
were interrupted the individual would have problems functioning or relating to
people. The individual s maladaptive behaviour would depend on which stage was

There are several branches of modern psychodynamic therapies. Many branches rely
on reflective relationships between the client and therapist. The therapist helps the
client to examine how they relate to the therapist, encourages a more positive way of
relating and the client is supposed to expand on this new way of relating with others.
A major criticism of this model is that it very difficult to measure the effectiveness of
the therapy.
Different therapists have different approaches and therapy can take years. It is often

Hutcheson proclaims a variation of disinterested love and an actual sense of another s
meaningful suffering. Many of his contemporaries within the 18th century Britain
misinterpreted this account of sympathy and tried to reduce it to a psychological
egoist account. In his essay Moral Sense and Sympathy, Luigi Turco gives as account
of sympathy throughout this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hutcheson then defines internal senses as analogous senses, which are given to us
by God in order to cohabitate with others.3 Sympathy then is not merely a passion
that is based off of the imagination, but a sense no different than sight sound and
touch. When we reflect, we gain a sense of pleasures in thinking about people acting
in a benevolent way, even if there is no direct benefit to us involved.4 The narrow
Hobbesian account of self interest is the ultimate principle o the individual, but
benevolence is what governs us as a social body; our moral sense is the reflected
sense that detects that benevolence is virtuous.5 We can therefore find it satisfying to
be virtuous without this satisfaction being reduced to Hobbesian self interest.
Hutcherson s notion of sympathy is a broader concept that does not equate self
interest and self satisfaction.
This concept of sympathy was held to be highly problematic by Samuel Clarke
(1675 1729). Clarke agrees with Hutcheson that there is some notion of disinterested
moral sense that is responsible for sympathy, yet he disagrees that this notion is
enough; the pleasure from the moral sense and anticipated divine rewards are also
morally relevant features. For Clarke, the love of benevolence is not disinterested;
Sympathy actually involves a delight in the happiness of others and a misery in the

police officers pulled a vehicle over for speeding at approximately 3am on 7
August 1999. The police officers found three men in the vehicle. The driver was
Donte Partlow, the front seat passenger and defendant Joseph Pringle, and the
backseat passenger Otis Smith. One of the police officers asked the owner and
driver of the vehicle for his license and registration. When Partlow opened the
glove box, the police officer observed a large amount of money in the glove box.
The police officer checked for outstanding warrants and issued Partlow a warning.
Then the officer asked for permission to search his vehicle. Upon searching the
vehicle the police officer found the money he had seen earlier as well as five
baggies of cocaine in between the armrest and back seat. All three occupants in the
vehicle were questioned and denied any knowledge or ownership of the cocaine.
Subsequently all three men were arrested and brought back to the police station for
questioning. Pringle waived his rights after being given a Miranda warning and
confessed that the cocaine was his and he intended to sell it. He claimed that the
other occupants in the vehicle had no knowledge of the drugs. At trial, Pringle moved
to suppress his confession, claiming that it was the result of an illegal arrest. The
court denied his motion, and

Wooden Truss Bridge
The most common types are the beam bridges, arch bridges, suspension bridges,
cantilever bridges, cable style, and the kind I am going to research is truss bridge.
Zhaozhou Bridge is the oldest bridge; it is in china.
The first welded bridge was designed by polish engineer Stefan Bryla.
The longest suspension bridge in the world (from 2010) is the Akashi Kaikyo bridge
in Kobe Japan.
Allan truss is based on the Howe truss. The first one was finished on 13 August 1894.
Bailey truss was made for the military, with many different styles. Baltimore truss
was like the Pratt truss but it has more bracing on the bottom to stop buckling.
Bollman truss had many independent tension elements that makes a strong bridge
which is easy to assemble.
Burr arch truss that is a combination of an arch and truss which gives a strong bridge.

K truss has beams that form the letter k in each panel.
Long truss is like the Howe truss but made of wood and usually is a covered bridge.
Parker truss is like the pratt truss but has a polygonal upper chord.
If that chord has five segments it is called a camelback truss.
The pegram truss has chords that are wider at the bottom but the same length at the
top.
Pratt truss has members and angels that slope downward to the center. Many different
types that are based on this are used for the railroads.
Vierendeel truss has rectangular members instead of triangular.
Warren truss has members joined only by angled cross members. This forms
equilateral truss. It is light and strong and makes an economical truss.
The Quebec bridge is the world s longest cantilever bridge.
The longest continuous bridge is lake pontchartrain causeway in southern
Angela Carter s Puss-In-Boots
In Angela Carter s short story Puss in Boots, an arrogant cat, Puss, becomes a valet
for his master and they work together for survival until Master falls in love with
Signora Panteleone. After this, Puss teams up with Tabby and they plot together so
that Master and the Signora can be together sexually and then more permanently. In
the story, Carter s employment of Puss as narrator accentuates the violence related to
sexual acts and, through this, encourages the audience to read like women, as
specified by feminist critic Jonathan Culler.
In the section Reading as a Womanin Culler s novel On Deconstruction, he confronts
the traditional methods of analyzing literature through his pronouncement of women
being conditioned to view written ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the presence of death occurs during both of the times that Signora Panteleone
and Master have sex and this hints at sinister intentions, Puss candor about her
enjoyment enables readers to comprehend that Signora Panteleone desperately desires
to strain against the rigid standards set by her husband. In lieu of focusing merely on
Master, as many are apt to do after years of reading like men, the excessive
confinement that Signora Panteleone faces allows the audience to more easily notice
the conflicts she encounters rather than neglecting the treatment she receives. Puss,
being a blatantly stereotypical character, forces readers to examine the literary
assumptions that they base reading on and analyze the content of the story in a novel
Business Forecast
Abstract
This Paper examines and compares various forecasting techniques used for qualitative
and quantitative business forecasting and their use in Firstlogic Inc., to forecast the
demand under conditions of uncertainty. Time series and Delphi forecasting methods
are considered for this research to evaluate their ability to make effective decisions
regarding the future.
Business Forecasting
Business forecasting is the process of studying historical performance for the
purpose of using the knowledge gained to project future business conditions so that
decisions can be made today that will aid in the achievement of established goals.
Forecasting plays a crucial role in today s uncertain global marketplace. Forecasting
is traditionally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group then feeds back the responses to other members of the group, while
never giving away the identity of the response. The experts are then asked to respond
again, after reviewing the responses of other respondents. This process may continue
until a consensus is reached among the group. The group may be united to form a
final consensus (Namvar, 2000, p.8). Time Series Forecasting Method
Time series techniques are the most popular quantitative method. These techniques
use statistical methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques
are preferred when appropriate data are available. The main assumption is that the
historical pattern will continue into the future. The two main types of time series
forecasting are average smoothing and exponential smoothing. The moving
average is simply a series of arithmetic averages. Predicting sales for next year is
simple. The actual sales for a certain number of years is added, and then divided by
the number of years used to get the moving average. A weighted moving average is
obtained by assigning a specific weight to previous years. The sum of all weights
must equal one. Recent years are given a higher weight (Namvar, 2000, p.13).
Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new
forecast is a weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and
the weighted forecast of
Taking a Look at The Matrix
The Matrix is a sci fi action film created in 1999 by Andy and Lana Wachowski.
The Matrix explores each branch of philosophy with great depth, giving the
viewers a reason to question the world we live in today. The most intellectually
stimulating problem presented by the Matrix trilogy is the question of the nature of
reality posed by the premise of the film. This is actually an ancient question, which
Plato asked and attempted to answer in his Dialogues, especially in the famous
allegory of the cave. Both share the major philosophical issue, metaphysics, with the
ongoing questions of What is reality? and Are we living in the real world or an
illusion of the real world? Are we only glimpsing that which we have the potential to
behold?
Other main philosophical issues evident in The Matrix are ethics: is it morally
acceptable to kill someone to save another person s life? or is someone s life worth
sacrificing to save a lot of people . When taking in the political side of things we
come across the ethical issue: is it acceptable for the government to keep things
from us that we wouldn t like or want to know? Another ethical issue perceived in
The Matrix is Epistemology: how do we know what we know? and How do we
know that we have reached our fullest potential?
The Matrix and Plato s Allegory of the Cave both show us how to perceive our own
reality and to distinguish between what is real and what is not real and how the
people living in the Matrix world are
Can Nine Minimum Criteria Be Used for a Democracy in
Yemen...
Schmitter and Karl (1991) listed Robert Dahl s seven minimum criteria for a
political democracy and developed two of their own (p. 247). Most of the nine
criteria, if not all, are irrelevant in my assigned countries, since both my assigned
countries are non democratic. Criteria one gives elected officials constitutional power
to make policy. Under this criteria, Yemen
and Saudi both differ. Saudi Arabiahas a
Shura council, which is an advisory body, but they do not enact and enforce laws,
only the King can. In Yemen, there are elected officials and a parliament; however,
the power they have is also limited. The second criteria guarantees fair elections with
no coercion. In both countries, one cannot safely say that elections are... Show more

Criteria seven is difficult to analyze, this criteria is the right of citizens to form and
be part of groups or assemblies, and to organize and be part of organizations. Both
countries claim that they have a pluralistic political system, and that many parties
are allowed to organize and be part of the political system. However, many reports
show that this might not necessarily be true. Saudi Arabia and Yemen are very
influenced by Islamic law; thus, liberal or secular political parties are naturally
suppressed. However, when it comes to the private business sector, Saudi Arabia
seems to be more flexible. The country has private schools, private hospitals, and
private pharmacies. For example, the Saudi German hospital in Jeddah, which is one
of the best private hospitals not just in the country by also in the region (International
Hospitals Construction Co. Ltd. [IHCC], n.d.). Moreover, Saudi Arabia has multiple
private schools, such as the American International School in the capital Riyadh (U.S.
Department of State, n.d.). These organizations are allowed to function with
considerable flexibility within the country. Yemen also has a developing private
sector. Recently a group of NGO s as well as government representatives organized a
meeting in Saudi to discuss the private sector as well the humanitarian situation in
Is The Mosquito Innocent Or Guilty
Is the mosquito innocent or guilty? The mosquito is innocent for three reasons.
One of those reasons is he told a lie to the iguana and he stormed off. Also it was
the monkey who killed the owlet. The last reason is the rabbit broke a law of the
jungle by running threw the jungle in mid day. The book tells us all of this. This is
why the mosquito is innocent. In the book it states that the mosquito told a lie to the
iguana, and it caused him to put sticks in his ears and storm off. The iguana should
have just ignored him instead. If the iguana would not have done this the owlet
would not have been killed. Also if the iguana would not have put the sticks in his
ears he would not have scared the snake. The iguana is the one who is guilty. He
Communication Is A Complex Aspect Of Human Life
Communication is a complex aspect of human life that upon closer investigation
gives one a deeper understanding of what messages individuals are truly attempting to
convey. There are four different channels through which signals and cues send
messages from sender to receiver and vice versa. Those channels are the following;
auditory, visual, tactile, and scent channels. Three of the four channels are non
linguistic channels that demonstrate that a large portion of communicationoccurs
through non linguistic means. Individuals are consistently using these four channels
in everyday interactions with one another. Humans minds and bodies have been
shaped by natural selection to send a variety of verbal and non verbal signals. A signal
is intentional and has been evolved to produce a certain reaction. Signals are
honest because they are linked to one s genes. Due to the wide reach signals have
in one s everyday life a broad analysis of signals would be ineffective for this
analysis. Therefore, this analysis will focus on the role signals play in courtship.
One will explore a total of five different sources of empirical evidence in order to
gain a deeper understanding of why individuals may have evolved to produce and
react to courtship signals. One will attempt to demonstrate that individuals have
evolved to produce and react to courtship signals in order to be able to determine a
potential mates interest. Though courtship signals may not guarantee that one will
achieve a
Slaves And American Women During The 1800s
Slaves and American Women Most African Americans were enslaved in the 1800s
in America, especially in the south. This time period was also a time when women
were not receiving adequate rights compared to men. Abolitionists, those working to
end slavery, began coming together to fight the evils of slavery. Fredrick Douglass, a
runaway slave, formed a new life after escaping by giving talks, working to abolish
slavery, and writing a narrative of his whole life that he got published to help the
movement to abolish slavery. In 1837, Sarah M. Grimke wrote, Legal Disabilities of
Women which compared women s rights to those of a slave. Sarah Grimke compared
white Americanmarried women to slaves because she was infuriated with some laws

Sarah Grimke writes, By marriage, the husband and wife are one person in law;
that is, the very being, or legal existence of the woman is suspended during the
marriage, or at least is incorporated and consolidated into that of the husband under
whose wing, protection and cover she performs everything (Grimke 1). What
Grimke is explaining is that the man would take control of everything that the
woman owned after marriage and they became one person, but the man had all the
power to do what he wanted with what they owned, even whatever the female
owned before they became married. In both senses, slaves and women were being
absorbed by the master or husband as he took complete control over them and
what they owned. Another similarity between slaves and married white women
was the cruel way that they were spoken to, they were both disrespected. Slave
overseers often treated the slaves with much disrespect and cruelty to scare them
and keep them in order. Grimke points out that The slaveholder does kill his slave
by moderate correction, as the law allows; and many a husband, among the poor,
exercises the right given him by the law, of degrading women by personal
chastisement (Grimke 3). Men felt a sense of authority over both slaves and women
to talk down on them in order to feel more powerful. Lastly, Women and slaves were
similar in that they both

In the United States of America, the profession of the school counsellor began as a vocational guidance movement at the beginning of the twentieth century (Schmidt, 2003). In India, school counsellors are still not prominent. Their roles in the school setting are still not properly recognized and understood by the other educators. School counselling is a recent development. The impetus for development of school based counselling has a number of causes, according to Bor. He says that everyday life can be challenging and stressful for even the most resilient of children. • 6. The Indian Judicial System The Indian Judicial System has always been vigilant about the rights of children for they are the most valuable assets of the nation. It goes as a fact that development of children in a society and the development of nation as a whole go hand in hand and the most potent role in achieving such development is played by Education. Keeping this in mind, the India Judiciary emerges as a sign of commitment towards eradication of poverty and illiteracy from the country. The emergence of Right to Education as a Fundamental Right still has been an elusive goal had Judiciary not stepped in. The commendable role of judiciary in elevating the status of Right to Education from a Directive Principle to a Fundamental Right can be traced through a catena of cases. In the year 1993, Supreme Court turned the wheel of education the Supreme Court through its tendency towards broad and normative enunciations of positive rights. The best illustration of this trend can be traced in the famous Mohini Jain s case and Unnikrishnan s case wherein the Supreme Court ruled that Article 45 in Part IV has to be read in harmonious construction with Article 21 (Right to Life) in Part III of the Constitution, as Right to Life loses its significance without education. The apex Court made the following powerful interpretation: It is thus well established by the decisions of this Court that the provisions of Part III and IV are supplementary and complementary to each other and that fundamental rights are

This painting is one of the only outdoor scenes Vermeer had painted that is still in existence. The first window Brook opens for his readers in this painting is a view of the city of Delft. The herring buses give Timothy Brook a window to talk about the climate change and sickness in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In these two centuries, the temperatures were falling all over the world, creating increased sickness and shorter crop seasons. In Vermeer s Hat, Brook says that the two herring boats in the painting are evidence of climate change. Brook also uses Vermeer to talk about the exchanges in the seventeenth century. • 10. Gag Rule The implications of Donald Trump s reinstatement of the Gag Rule on birth control are deadly for men, women, and children, and pose dangerous setbacks for the ongoing struggle against HIV/AIDS. Such legislation from a nation with considerable influence over health policy aggravates a global trend of limited abortionaccess; only 30% of the nations in the world today grant women abortions for any reason. Safe abortion practices are often underutilized due to varying case restrictions, leading many women to continue pursuing illegal, unsanitary, and dangerous alternative abortions. These practices are of grave concern to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, which UNAIDS seeks to eradicate by the year 2030. Unsafe abortions are statistically prevalent in women who suffer from HIV/AIDS, as they pose a high risk for transmission of the disease to their children and complications post birth. • 12. Budweiser Vs Pepsi The amount of money spent on Super Bowl commercials never ceases to amaze me. What also astounds me even more is the lack of investment in making these advertisements clever. Several years ago Pepsi, Budweiser, and other big name products would incorporate imaginative ads to entice potential customers. Many people looked forward to the commercials more than the actual game but after the last few years of mundane ads and big name products scaling back, the commercials are nothing to get jazzed over anymore. Cell phone and car advertisements seemed to dominate this year, leaving snack, beer, and soda commercials in the marketingdust. One cell phone ad (or I should say ads since there were three) that stands out the most to me are the T Mobile

The Neo Realist Thinking Of Waltz Along With John Mearsheimer Neo realism, also known as structural realism or system level theory outlined in Theory of International Politics (1979) has been Kenneth Waltz s response to the Realism theory by Hans Morgenthau (1948). The neo realist thinking of Waltz along with John Mearsheimer, Robert Keohane, Stephen Krasner, Charles Kindleberger and Robert Tucker George Modelski had a deep impact both within and beyond the realist tradition. Unlike classical realism, Neo realism does not consider human nature as relevant when it comes to the behaviour of states in international system rather explains it in terms of structure of the international system. As per neo realists, the international structure is predominately defined by their ordering principles (anarchy) and the distribution of capabilities (power) across units. In the neo realist theory, power is simply the combined capability of a state and changes in the structures can be explained by the distribution of power across the states. Waltz claimed that any theory of international relationsshould be able to tell both about the units states and the system as a whole. This essay will focus on the neo realist approach of International relations and explain why, according to the neo realists, states want power and argue how much power states should aim to control. The first section of the essay will introduce the concept of power within the international relations context and then the second section will delve into the question of why in

The model resulted in five dimensions that are generic in nature. However, other models such as Technical and Functional Quality Model , Perception only Model and Evaluated Performance and Normed Quality Model consider only the perceptions of the customers. Technical and Functional Quality Model describes three components such as technical quality (the quality received by the customer), functional quality (how the quality is received by the customer) and corporate quality (how quality is delivered by the organization). Despite a leading instrument in measuring service quality, a number of studies have raised concern about it [156,168 171]. These criticisms relates to conceptual, methodological and analytical issues in SERVQUAL. The primary issue raised in the literature is the conceptualization of service quality as the difference between perception and expectation [159]. Cronin and Taylor, reiterate their views against the disconfirmation based SERVQUAL scale of measuring service quality and continued to be proponents of their perception only approach to service quality measurement. Further, the use of the perception and expectation gap measure of service also raises related analytical concerns about its low reliability, poor discriminant validity and spurious correlations [168 170]. • 16. Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Oedipus The protagonists in the plays Hamlet and Oedipus Rex share a commonality in terms of serving justice for the death of their past king; however, in terms of free will, these princes are polar opposites. In the first instance, both protagonists differ greatly as a result of their fate, while Hamlet is given a task that he can choose to obey or dismiss, Oedipusis given a prophecy that forecasts how his life will go down. From this alone, it s clear how Hamlets destiny is in his hands, yet as for Oedipus, he will fulfill his prophecy whether he likes it or not. As a result of this, Hamlet is able to think and logically configure how to complete the task, however, Oedipus acts so impulsively that he is unable to think properly before acting. While Hamlet is able to conduct himself with such control that he can even trick others that his mad, Oedipus loses his mind and acts crazily and rashly. Since Hamlet is able to freely do his task, he is able to die honorably, while Oedipus could not feel satisfied with his actions because he did them unknowingly and unwillingly. Shakespeare s Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus appear to be similar because of their circumstances, but in terms of their struggle between fate and free will Hamlet is at an advantage. There is a substantial difference between being foretold what will happen and receiving a task, this difference comes into play when contrasting with the freedom Oedipus and Hamlet are given. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) The Tennessee Valley Authority There was a time in the history of the United States when utilities such as electricity and water were not owned and operated by the government and instead fell in the hands of private enterprise. President Frank D. Roosevelt changed all that at the height of the Great Depression by expanding the government role in the economy by establishing the policy of the New Deal. One of the New Deal projects was the Tennessee Valley Authority , which was opposed by the privately owned companies that already controlled the market for utilities. While many felt that the government had exceeded its constitutional powers, the TVA demonstrated its efficacy by not only improving the economy but also paved foundations for other projects modeled in its image. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was United States federal agency that was founded in 1933 for purposes of controlling floods in the southern valleys of the Appalachians. The descriptions of the interactions between Carlton and his mothershow the mother s lack of authority over him. Additionally, the father s apparent lack of parental assertiveness reveals a lack of authority over both Carlton and Robert. This statement is immensely important to the reader s understanding of how Carlton was raised or rather how he raised himself because it reveals a lack of intervention and control in Carlton s life by his parents. Another brilliant message conveyed by the mud scene is how yielding the father is. The father, who is described as being worn down by too much patience (Cunningham 235), lightly recommends that Carlton clean up the mess. The father s involvement in this scene illustrates that Carlton was never really punished for wrongdoings, thus making it difficult to learn from his mistakes. Because Carlton was raised without much supervision and punishment, and because he is Robert s role model, Robert eventually decides to test his mother s boundaries. We see this at the party when Robert protests his bedtime. When confronted by his mother, Robert runs to Carlton in search of defense. The Webster s Illustrated Encyclopedic Dictionary defines propaganda as the systematic propagation or discrediting of a given doctrine or cause by circulation of polemical material, such as posters and leaflets (1353). However, this definition does not cover the full scope of the of the word. Terence Qualter also feels the definition for propaganda needs to be more refined for its new usage. The definition that he gives is the deliberate attempt...(to) form, control, or alter the attitudes of other groups...(with) the use of the instruments of communication (27 28). He goes on to say that the propaganda must be aimed at the group in general because that is the basic nature of the word, in that the most effective propaganda is the propaganda which has a large audience. This concept is known as pay as you go. This concept was far cheaper and affordable than what the government of Tanzania and some big energy companies were offering, the author claimed (2005). Ignorance is dangerous when it comes to purchasing a home. If the location that I purchase has certain risks associated with it, then I would want to know about them so that I could prepare. My date responded positively to our discussion. She saw the practicality in identifying the risk involved with places she wanted to live. Needless to say, she crossed off some of here dream living locations because of the high risks associated with them (such as Key West, Florida). We had no arguments during our discussion. Not even on the South s ballot, Lincoln received 40% of the popular vote. As a strong republican, Lincoln believed in the abolition of slavery. Lincoln became president in the highest conflict between North and South in history and wanted to preserve the Union. He believed that the South should not be punished after the Civil War because he thought that they had already been punished enough from the war. Abraham Lincolns lenient policies caused him to be hated by both the North and the South. Many years ago when I started my education on wine (still learning) one of my mentors said something that I will never forget. Wine is a living biosphere that has certain needs to survive and develop over time. That said, wines need many things to develop and provide the extra layers of complexity that we are all after. There has been many technological advancements to help screen corks for TCA to lower the impacts in wines. Truth is, cork may be the primary source of TCA but it is definitely not the only one. A few wineries have been impacted by TCA independent of cork. When I first saw screw caps I was curious what the effect would be on wines that have been cellared for 10 years plus.

Another issue is the unscientific way in which psychodynamic theories were

In his account of sympathy, Hutcheson proclaims a variation of disinterested love and an actual sense of another s meaningful suffering. Many of his contemporaries within the 18th century Britain misinterpreted this account of sympathy and tried to reduce it to a psychological egoist account. Hutcheson then defines internal senses as analogous senses, which are given to us by God in order to cohabitate with others.3 Sympathy then is not merely a passion that is based off of the imagination, but a sense no different than sight sound and touch. When we reflect, we gain a sense of pleasures in thinking about people acting in a benevolent way, even if there is no direct benefit to us involved.4 The narrow Hobbesian account of self interest is the ultimate principle o the individual, but benevolence is what governs us as a social body; our moral sense is the reflected sense that detects that benevolence is virtuous.5 We can therefore find it satisfying to be virtuous without this satisfaction being reduced to Hobbesian self interest. Hutcherson s notion of sympathy is a broader concept that does not equate self interest and self satisfaction. This concept of sympathy was held to be highly problematic by Samuel Clarke (1675 1729). Clarke agrees with Hutcheson that there is some notion of disinterested moral sense that is responsible for sympathy, yet he disagrees that this notion is enough; the pleasure from the moral sense and anticipated divine rewards are also morally relevant features. For Clarke, the love of benevolence is not disinterested; Sympathy actually involves a delight in the happiness of others and a misery in the

The driver was Donte Partlow, the front seat passenger and defendant Joseph Pringle, and the backseat passenger Otis Smith. One of the police officers asked the owner and driver of the vehicle for his license and registration. When Partlow opened the glove box, the police officer observed a large amount of money in the glove box. The police officer checked for outstanding warrants and issued Partlow a warning. Then the officer asked for permission to search his vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle the police officer found the money he had seen earlier as well as five baggies of cocaine in between the armrest and back seat. All three occupants in the vehicle were questioned and denied any knowledge or ownership of the cocaine. Subsequently all three men were arrested and brought back to the police station for questioning. Pringle waived his rights after being given a Miranda warning and confessed that the cocaine was his and he intended to sell it. He claimed that the other occupants in the vehicle had no knowledge of the drugs. At trial, Pringle moved to suppress his confession, claiming that it was the result of an illegal arrest. The group may be united to form a final consensus (Namvar, 2000, p.8). Time Series Forecasting Method Time series techniques are the most popular quantitative method. These techniques use statistical methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques are preferred when appropriate data are available. The main assumption is that the historical pattern will continue into the future. The two main types of time series forecasting are average smoothing and exponential smoothing. The moving average is simply a series of arithmetic averages. Predicting sales for next year is simple. The actual sales for a certain number of years is added, and then divided by the number of years used to get the moving average. A weighted moving average is obtained by assigning a specific weight to previous years. The sum of all weights must equal one. Recent years are given a higher weight (Namvar, 2000, p.13). Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new forecast is a weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and the weighted forecast of
  • 49. Taking a Look at The Matrix The Matrix is a sci fi action film created in 1999 by Andy and Lana Wachowski. The Matrix explores each branch of philosophy with great depth, giving the viewers a reason to question the world we live in today. The most intellectually stimulating problem presented by the Matrix trilogy is the question of the nature of reality posed by the premise of the film. This is actually an ancient question, which Plato asked and attempted to answer in his Dialogues, especially in the famous allegory of the cave. Both share the major philosophical issue, metaphysics, with the ongoing questions of What is reality? and Are we living in the real world or an illusion of the real world? Are we only glimpsing that which we have the potential to behold? Other main philosophical issues evident in The Matrix are ethics: is it morally acceptable to kill someone to save another person s life? or is someone s life worth sacrificing to save a lot of people . When taking in the political side of things we come across the ethical issue: is it acceptable for the government to keep things from us that we wouldn t like or want to know? Another ethical issue perceived in The Matrix is Epistemology: how do we know what we know? and How do we know that we have reached our fullest potential? The Matrix and Plato s Allegory of the Cave both show us how to perceive our own reality and to distinguish between what is real and what is not real and how the people living in the Matrix world are

Communication Is A Complex Aspect Of Human Life Communication is a complex aspect of human life that upon closer investigation gives one a deeper understanding of what messages individuals are truly attempting to convey. There are four different channels through which signals and cues send messages from sender to receiver and vice versa. Those channels are the following; auditory, visual, tactile, and scent channels. Three of the four channels are non linguistic channels that demonstrate that a large portion of communicationoccurs through non linguistic means. Individuals are consistently using these four channels in everyday interactions with one another. Humans minds and bodies have been shaped by natural selection to send a variety of verbal and non verbal signals. A signal is intentional and has been evolved to produce a certain reaction. Signals are honest because they are linked to one s genes. Due to the wide reach signals have in one s everyday life a broad analysis of signals would be ineffective for this analysis. Therefore, this analysis will focus on the role signals play in courtship. One will explore a total of five different sources of empirical evidence in order to gain a deeper understanding of why individuals may have evolved to produce and react to courtship signals. One will attempt to demonstrate that individuals have evolved to produce and react to courtship signals in order to be able to determine a potential mates interest. Though courtship signals may not guarantee that one will achieve a

What Grimke is explaining is that the man would take control of everything that the woman owned after marriage and they became one person, but the man had all the power to do what he wanted with what they owned, even whatever the female owned before they became married. In both senses, slaves and women were being absorbed by the master or husband as he took complete control over them and what they owned. Another similarity between slaves and married white women was the cruel way that they were spoken to, they were both disrespected. Slave overseers often treated the slaves with much disrespect and cruelty to scare them and keep them in order. Grimke points out that The slaveholder does kill his slave by moderate correction, as the law allows; and many a husband, among the poor, exercises the right given him by the law, of degrading women by personal chastisement (Grimke 3). Men felt a sense of authority over both slaves and women to talk down on them in order to feel more powerful. Lastly, Women and slaves were similar in that they both
