How To Write An Excellent Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "How To Write An Excellent Essay" may seem paradoxical, as it
requires a meta-awareness of the very skill one is attempting to showcase. The challenge lies in
striking a delicate balance between providing valuable insights and avoiding the trap of sounding
repetitive or overly didactic.
To begin with, there's the inherent pressure to demonstrate proficiency in essay writing. The irony
is that while dissecting the anatomy of a stellar essay, the author must navigate through the
labyrinth of varied writing styles, structures, and tones, all the while adhering to the very
principles they are espousing. This can be akin to a tightrope walk, where one misstep could
undermine the credibility of the essay itself.
Additionally, articulating nuanced advice without descending into clichГ©s or trivialities poses a
formidable challenge. The risk of sounding preachy or stating the obvious looms large,
demanding a constant evaluation of each word and phrase. The essay becomes a sort of high-
wire act, demanding precision and finesse in every sentence.
Moreover, the paradox extends to the expectation of originality. A guide on writing an excellent
essay necessitates innovation in presentation and approach. However, there is a perpetual
struggle to avoid the clichГ©d pointers that saturate the discourse on essay writing. Finding a
unique perspective or offering fresh insights requires not only creativity but also a deep
understanding of the existing body of knowledge on the subject.
In essence, crafting an essay on how to write an excellent essay demands a meticulous dance
between showcasing proficiency and avoiding the pitfalls that may compromise the very essence
of the demonstration. It's a task that involves self-awareness, creativity, and a relentless pursuit
of clarity and coherence.
In conclusion, the challenge lies not just in imparting knowledge but in doing so with a finesse
that mirrors the excellence one seeks to advocate. It's a task that requires a delicate balance, akin
to a literary high-wire act, and only through such careful navigation can one hope to create an
essay that truly embodies the principles it expounds.

Essay On Alicia Keys
Born Alicia Augello Cook on January 25, 1981, fathered by an African American
man and an Italian American woman. Alicia grew up in a tough neighborhood known
as Hell s Kitchen located in the lower parts of Manhattan. During her childhood, the
family faced many challenges and was poverty stricken. These bad times caused her
motherand father to part ways. After the split, Alicia was mainly raised by her
mother Terri Augello. Terri worked most of Alicia s childhood as a paralegal and a
part time actress (Kaufman,2004). Though Alicia did not see her father often, the two
always stayed on good terms with each other. Being raised in a single parenthome

Critical Analysis Of A Neural Network
First, we have encountered one major problem that is how to interpret a neural
network given its black box characteristics. We really wanted to try ourselves, giving
interpretation of our results so that we dug into the existing literature and found out a
very interesting research paper written by Garson in 1991. In В« Illuminating the
black box: a randomization approach for understanding variable contributions in
artificial neural networks В», Olden and al. describes Garson s algorithm very
concisely so that we could create a user defined function on Python that replicates the
method. The interpretation of the method is provided below. The outputs of the

The BM ratio allows us to categorize companies into either a growth (low BM ratio)
or a value (high BM ratio) profile and past empirical studies (see Fama and French)
suggest that portfolios formed over value companies tend to out perform portfolios
formed over growth companies over time. We don t know the influence direction of
the variable (given the PCA black box transformation and Garson s output) but we
can formulate hypotheses on the fact that value companies tend to beat the market
more often than growth companies. Dividend yield and EVtoEBITDA that are our
2nd and 3rd most relevant variables for Neural Nework output also support this
previous fact high dividend yield paying companies characterize generally value
companies, while the EVtoEBITDA ratio characterize the relative price of a
company since it returns how many times an investor is willing to buy the EBITDA
(Earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of a company when
he purchases a share of the company. An investor that invests in high EVtoEBITDA
companies has generally good growth prospects views regarding the recurrent
earnings of the company. Finally, the factor size is the 4th most relevant factor that
affects our output and this fact is also supported by Fama and French literature:

How Did Augustine Of Hippo Change
Saint Augustine of Hippo, was an early Christian philosopher and theologian whose
writings influenced the development of western Christianity and western philosophy.
He explains his beliefs and The Confessions of Augustine is a well claimed
autobiography of Augustine and an overview of his journey to conversion from sin to
sainthood. In this novel, we see Augustine grow up as a child,to youth, and to
adulthood. Throughout Augustine s journey, we are introduced to the different
people and the roles they played in his change to good. Although many played a
negative role in his journey, there were a few that impacted his journey positively
and refined him into a saint such as his father, his mother, and God. Although his

Monica is a strong woman, she never gives in until she has the best for her husband
and Augustine. Even when, Patricius was being deceptive she found a calming
way to understand his needs and was even able to change him into a Christian
before his death. Monica becomes terrified when she discovers Augustine s
behaviour and how he is committing numerous sins, she begins weeping for his
life. She meets a bishop one day and explains to him how she is distraught over
Augustine s behaviour and how she needs to revert him into a good christian or
she may lose him forever. This is a very important chapter in the novel, it is the
turning point for Augustine as there he sees Monica pleading with God and the
Bishop for forgiveness and to teach him the right way. The bishop says, as you live,
it cannot be that the son of these tears should perish. This meant as long as Monica
lived to guide Augustine, he will never falter under the wrong path. Augustine was
able to claim redemption; however, he wasn t ready to claim it yet. He had to find
his mistakes and realize its repercussions, then he will convert himself. Augustine
could have kept under his notorious life if it was not for his mother, unlike his
father, his mother believed being a good Christian was vital. Monica s role
influenced his actions as she was able to revert him and plays the main role in his

Abstract
The concept of global strategy has become prominent in the international business and
management literature in the 1980s. The aims of our paper are to render in brief the
concept of global strategy and to highlight some of the main strategy. Our paper
contributes to a better understanding of the global strategy concept, and its designing

According to some researchers all the definitions of the concept can be grouped into
three views (Peng and
Pleggenkuhle Miles, 2008). The first view considers global strategy as a particular
form of multinational corporation strategy that treats all the countries as a global
marketplace. The second view states that global strategy is related to international
strategic management and the third perspective incorporates both international and
domestic corporate strategy. Starting from the relationship between pressure to cut
costs and pressure to adapt to local conditions (Figure 1), four strategic approaches
for global level business have been identified: multi domestic, global, international
and of countries across the world with a single strategy that is highly co ordinated

Analysis Of Loving V. Virginia
The movie Loving is based off of the court case Loving v. Virginia. Even after the
Civil Rights act of 1964 that outlawed discrimination based on race, origin, and
religion, had not yet edified the question of marriage. States, such as Virginia, still
imposed a ban on interracial marriages. The charges against the protagonists, Mildred
and Richard Loving, spiked my interest because of the enhanced step taken by
society as was taken in modern times during the same sex marriagecase Obergefell v.
Hodges. The court during the twentieth century was forced to question our evolving
standards of decency and define our Constitutional rights given to us by Equal
Protection and Due Process laws of the fifth and fourteenth amendment. The
prosecution in Loving v. Virginiahad to display their reasoning for their holding by
under the levels of scrutiny in the Equal Protection Clause. The defense had to prove
there was inconsistent levels of scrutiny, a lack of compelling governmental interest,
and that marriage was a fundamental right. Once proven, the institution of marriage,
licensing, and recognition of interracial couples was Constitutionally protected.
II. Plot Line: In 1958 Virginia residents Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, a white
man and black woman, traveled to Washington D.C. and obtained a marriage license.
Upon returning to Virginia the Lovings established a homestead in Caroline County.
That same year, the county issued an indictment against the Lovings for
Senator Ted Cruz s Presidential Campaign
After a crushing defeat in Tuesday s Indiana primary, Texas Senator Ted Cruz ended
his presidential bid, clearing the way for GOP front runner to become the
presumptive nominee. Tonight, I m sorry to say, it appears that path has been
foreclosed, Cruz said, as supporters began shouting emotionally No! And so with a
heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the long term future of our nation, we
are suspending our campaign. Cruz added, But hear me now, I am not suspending our
fight for liberty. The news of Cruz suspending his campaign came from his campaign
manager Jeff Roe Despite being mathematically eliminated from clinching the 1,237

NBC News/WSJ poll showed voters overwhelmingly opposed the alliance. The
alliance became shaky just hours after both campaigns announced their divide and
conquer plan when Kasich said his supporters should still vote for him even
though he wasn t campaigning there. The alliance quickly dissolved when Cruz
stated there was no alliance leading to Kasich s campaign to tweet out a subliminal
message of I hate liars. Last Wednesday, Cruz tried to get the media s attention
away from Trump s foreign policy address by announcing his Vice Presidential
pick, his former rival Carly Fiorina. The move was seen as a sign of desperate
according to many media pundit who questioned why would Cruz who was
mathematically eliminated from becoming the nominee pick a running mate just
three months before the convention. Cruz hoped the move of picking Fiorina, who
became his strongest surrogate after endorsing the Senator before the Florida
primary in mid March would help with the moderate Republicans and woman
voters. After announcing Cruz Fiorina 2016, Fiorina campaigned alongside the
Cruz, a mistake the Cruz s campaign employed. Previous approaches in Iowa and
Wisconsin used by the Cruz s campaign would deploy their top surrogates in key
suburbs as a divide and conquer approach. It wasn t until Monday that Cruz s
campaign changed their approach but it was already to late when he failed to use
Coffe and the History of Ethiopia
The popularity of coffee began with its introduction to Europe in the 17th century,
a time when colonialism had brought many resources to countries like France and
Britain. In Europe, coffee was a delicious beverage, and was very inexpensive due
to the monopoly of coffee imports from colonized to colonizer. But while tea was
still the preferred choice in North America, an increasingly higher tax on America s
favorite beverage led to the Boston Tea Party. Tea forever came to be known for the
British oppressor, and coffeebecame as popular in the U.S. as it was in Europe. The
popularity of coffee remained because the colonies in Africawere required to export
all precious resources to Europe. Despite the history of exploitation of resources in
many African countries, the coffee industry in Ethiopia has thrived, taking a product
that is in high demand and creating a stable economy, leading to the improvement of
its citizen s economic prosperity. This is because Ethiopia was one of the few areas
not colonized by European powers, letting it avoid the consequences of colonialism
and focus on the development of a country.
Since the beginning of imperialism, Ethiopia has stood apart from other African
nations. Being one of the only two countries in Africa that had not been colonized,
Ethiopia had great potential to thrive without the distraction of foreign powers. In
1896 Ethiopia defeated Italy at the Battle of Adwa, which remains famous today as
the first victory of an African
Metaphor Essay Metaphor
A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object
or action to which it is not literally applicable. Metaphors are one of the most
common figures of speech found in literature. Not to be confused with similes;
metaphors differ by not using words such as like or as in the comparing process. If
you use them correctly, they can make visualizing and understanding a cake walk
for readers. Metaphors aren t just used sentence by sentence. Sometimes whole
paragraphs, stanzas, and even entire works of literature are metaphors. These are
called extended metaphors Examples of extended metaphors can be found in
Romeo and Juliet where Romeo creates a trend of comparing Juliet to the sun
saying things such as But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the
East, and Juliet is the sun! Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is
already sick and pale with grief. , The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost is just an
elaborate metaphor about life and not following what everyone else does to create a
more authentic life for yourself, and in mother to son by Langston Hughes which
compares a rough staircase to life and its challenges. Metaphors can be found
everywhere using all different kinds of forms and lengths. During the puritan era it
was common for writers to use religious metaphors. Whether the metaphor only
lasted one line or engulfed the entire body of work, almost every story or poem
referenced Christianity. Some of
Impact of the Great Depression on Chile and Peru
In the opening pages of her novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee wrote these
words: There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no
money to buy it with...but it was a time of vague optimism for some of the people:
Maycomb County had recently been told that it had nothing to fear but fear itself.
Lee alludes to the seemingly inadequate reassurance that United States President
Franklin D. Roosevelt provided during his inauguration speech at the onset of the
Great Depression, while also describing the melancholy and hopelessness that many
citizens felt. This sentiment, however, was not just confined to the United States the
impact of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 had also reverberated throughout Latin
America, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government also advocated the development of domestic industry in order to
protect Chile from future external economic shocks. Thus, Chile, like many other
Latin American nations at the time, adopted a policy of import substitution
industrialization. Its aim was to encourage the creation of homegrown industries to
replace Latin American dependence on foreign manufactured goods (Berliner) which
was done in part by establishing quotas, licenses, and higher tariffs on imports and a
strict exchange rate in Chile. Prior to the Great Depression, Chile had prospered
amidst the workings of free market and mercantilist polices. The Great Depression,
however, disrupted this, as it brought about the necessity of government intervention
in the economy. Indeed, government intervention even stretched so far as to
transform Chile into a nation insulated by protectionist policies. Furthermore, the
Great Depression had undoubtedly brought about a political crisis in Chile with the
ousting of IbГЎГ±ez del Campo in 1931, who himself had partaken in a military
coup d Г©tat to achieve presidency in the first place. It has even been posited that the
nationalization of copper that had begun during the presidency of IbГЎГ±ez del
Campo and which was completed during the presidency of Salvador Allende in the
early 1970s built the foundation for a future international economic boycott, which

Ancient Egyptian Religion and Worldview
1)Ancient Egyptian religion and worldview was simultaneously both extraordinarily
simplistic and extremely complicated.
The king s essential unique title, the Horus name, broadcasted that he was a part of
the god Horus, a sky god who was portrayed as a half man half falcon. Different
aliases were added to this one, remarkably Son of Re (the sun god) and Perfect God,
both presented in the fourth administration (c. 2575 2465 bce), when the incredible
pyramids were developed. The name Son of Re put the ruler in a nearby, however,
impoverished connection with the heading figure in the pantheon. This showed that
the ruler had the status of a minor divinity, for which he was consummated through
promotion to his office; it confined the degree of his godlikeness and divided him
from full divinity.
In his halfway position between mankind and the divine beings, the king could
accept the most excessive praise, and in a few ways, was more unmistakable than
any single god. In death he tried to gain admittance to the afterlife, however couldn
t get away from the human setting. Despite the fact that illustrious funerary icons
contrasted in sort from different tombs and were unfathomably larger, they were
excessively looted and vandalized, and few regal funeral home religions were
dependable. Especially after the old Kingdom, a few rulers, mainly Amenhotep III
(1390 53 bce), Ramses II (1279 13 bce), and a few of the Ptolemies, looked for
idolization throughout their
Physics Of Skiing Physics
Physics is a very important aspect to how the world functions. It is also vital to
understanding skiing. Skiing is the act of traveling on top of snow on long blades
called skis that are attached to the feet. There are many different types of skiing such
as alpine skiing, nordic skiing, ski jumping, and aerial skiing. Each of these are
unique in their own way when it comes to how it is impacted by physics.
The most common type of skiing is downhill skiing, or otherwise known as alpine
skiing. The skier must be very agile and be able to make quick turns while going at
fast speed. In order to do this they must obtain momentum by turning potential energy
into kinetic energy. This is a relationship between work and energy. The person

Mass affects the force of gravity directly; the greater the force of gravity, the
greater the velocity. The normal force is the force of the ground on the skis. It is
opposite in direction of the force of gravity, but has the same magnitude. The force
of kinetic friction acts in the opposite direction of the skier s movement. It is a
fancy name for what was mentioned in the previous paragraph about friction
between the skis and snow. Lastly, the drag force is the air resistance acting in the
opposite direction of the skier s movement. Again, this was stated in the prior
paragraph. The forces explain why skis move the way they
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Connor MacInerney 12/2/16 The EMT profession is one of the few professions
left in the transportation industry that have unregulated work shift hours in the
United States. Twenty four hour work shifts are common among the EMT
industry and the resulting fatigue is causing mental and physical health issues
with EMT s as well as safety issues for both EMT s and the patients they are
responding to. I believe that the EMT profession needs work hour regulation
similar to those of long haul truck drivers, medical residents, pilots and railroad
conductors. Virtually every branch of commercial or public transportation has
very strict rules on hours that their employees can operate, except EMT. (Medic
Madness) The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) plans to
announce a research team in the coming years, which will develop fatigue
management programs for the EMT industry. These programs will educate EMTs
on proper fatigue management as well as teach them the negative effects fatigue
has on the body and mind. In my opinion, the regulation of work hours and the
development of fatigue management programs in the EMT profession is long
overdue. There are a variety of reasons that EMT s are working twenty four hour
and longer shifts, and the blame can be established on both the employee and the
employer. Since it is cheaper to use twenty four hour work shifts and it requires less
bodies to staff, some companies will do so to increase their profit margin and turn a

Lucille Clifton s A Wom Going Back To Whitman
Lucy s perspective
Some women were born to be impressively expressive and some were born to be
inexpressible. Lucille Clifton was born to be both. In many ways, she was known
for summing a lot of information in few words in her collection of poems. Her very
ordinary childhood, fascinating career choices, and prize winning made Lucille
Clifton is one of the most intellectually creative poets of the United States.
Lets begin talking about Clifton s early years and where she was born in. She had

Clifton also wrote Adam Thinking and I believe Whitman as one of the greats
poet would agree with this poem because his faithfulness of humans and as
believer of Adam and Eve. Especially this poem is talking about Adam himself
asking for partner in life saying that to reconnect the rib and clay and to be whole
again (Clifton) we see Adam asking god to make out of his rib an other human to
fulfill his sexual desire. We also sense the lost of direction because Adam has not
named yet by god. Going back to Whitman automatically after reading this poem by
the title I remembered Children of Adam by Whitman. Particularly in A Woman
Waits For Me in Leaves of Grass shows us the sexual desire of man by saying A
WOMAN waiting for me, she contains all, nothing yet all were lacking if sex were
lacking, or if the moisture of the right man were lacking (Whitman, 258) this poem is
talking about the important of sex and that without female and male in this earth life
would not last forever. Therefore, Whitman promotes sex because it to help us as
human kind not only to be partner, but also to have children to carry on your last
name. Overall, to live happily and joyfully in this earth with another human, basically

minimal downtime, and provide a disaster recovery solution to ensure the site is
always available. Website architecture represents an approach by professionals to
design and plan websites for interaction between business entities. The websitewould
also facilitate proper interaction between consumers and the companies running the
website. This design would allow companies to improve the performance within the
market and the overall industry of operation. For the company to build effective and
efficient web architecture, it is crucial to apply the following requirements and
elements in the process. The first element of building the web architecture is the
technical requirement. The professional must have the technical ability and
knowledge to address the issue of application of websites in order to participate in the
development of effective and efficient design. In order to ensure that the professional
has the ability to design quality and standardized website, it is necessary to conduct
transparent interview in relation to the task. The professional needs to understand his
or her expectations in the process of constructing the web architecture. This would
allow the professional to execute his or her roles effectively towards ensuring that the
website addresses its needs and requirements. The other requirement for building
website architecture is finance. The financial resources would allow
A Causal Link Between The Presences Of Sports And A...
The goal of this paper is to be able to establish a causal link between the presences
of sports in a postsecondary school affect the number of male students attending
these schools. The reason we would want to answer this question is should we
incorporate sports more in schools to increase male attendance and level out the gap
between male and female enrollment. State Universities that are wanting to become
established and increase their male enrollment, as well as their presence in the
athletic arena will have a great interest in this correlation. The answer to this question
is interesting and valuable from an Economics point of view is to influence
postsecondary school s to help make the decision if they should incorporate sports
teams... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the presence of sports this could create a positive effect on the number of men
enrolled in these schools. Other factors that affect the number of enrolled men are the
different kinds of sports. For instance, Football may increase the number of enrolled
men. But soccer will decrease the number of men enrolled.
When researching papers that could help determining if there is a casual link between
sports in postsecondary schools and male attendance, the only thing that was found of
interest was that High school athletic participation was significantly related to
educational progress among suburban and rural white males. (Sabo, pg. 50) Since it
seems that there is some data and research suggesting that male students who
participated in sports during their high school careers went on to college and had
success. One could argue that since these students had participated in sports during
their high school career and went on to succeed in college, there would be an
increase in male students when more sports or present. It is logical to think that if a
male student is highly interested in sports and even participates in the sport, that they
would prefer to attend a school that has sports. This is the only article that I could
find that had a discussion between male college attendance and sport. I feel that I am
contributing to the research, instead of looking at student s
Pandora Radio
New Models Of Doing Business: Pandora Radio As if the music industry has not seen
enough change in recent years, Pandora Radio has started yet another music
revolution. This time, however, the revolution is not about how the music is stored
and collected (LP/CD/MP3 transformation), or how music is purchased (Record
Stores/ iTunes transformation), but how we actually listen to music. Pandora Radio
has created an amazing technology, which allows users to create and customize their

In contrast, there exist many intermediaries with the traditional radio business model.
Disc Jockeys select the music to broadcast and station managers determine what type

correlated to what was being played. With Pandora, customer satisfaction is inherent
in their model. Users create their own stations to listen to, and are constantly
customizing stations to tailor to their tastes. The argument can be posited that while
Pandora does possess a new high technology and a new way of doing business, the
existing technology support network cannot support Pandora a large portion of radio

normal means of consumers. This is a false assumption. The technology support
network is currently undergoing change to meet the demand for internet connectivity
anytime, anywhere. Technologies such as 3G and 4G allow devices to connect to
the internet anywhere, and Pandora is currently developing players for automobiles,

Charles Darwin s Research In The Galapagos Islands
The first force of evolution is mutations. Mutations are the only way that DNA can
create entirely unique structures. Without mutations, evolution would be impossible.
The second force is natural selection. The idea of natural selection came from
Charles Darwin and his research in the Galapagos Islands. There, he discovered that
animals were adapting to the environment around them and highlighted some key
differences in their phenotypes based on their home environment. The third force is
genetic drift. Genetic drift is where specific alleles appear and others fade away
purely by chance. Over time, these changes have large effects over populations. The
fourth force is geneflow. Gene flow is the study of how certain genes are spread out

He says so because first, you may not be familiar with the company and second
because you will not know if there is any change of information with that particular

you will be left at a loss. This is why Peter Lynch greatly emphasizes throughout his
book on the importance of only investing in companies of which you fully understand
the nature of their business and believe in it.
Peter Lynch poses three important questions to the investor in order to self evaluate
their financial position as well as mental state before deciding to invest in the stock
market: (1) Do I own a home? He advises that buying a house first is the best type of
investment you can make as it, in the long run, just as stocks, always appreciates in
value. (2) Do I need the money now? Only invest money you can afford to lose and
will not be needing in the near future. (3) Do I poses the personal qualities necessary
to succeed in stocks? Some of the personal qualities Lynch deems necessary are lots
of patience, ability to ignore the general panic, tolerance for pain, open mindedness,
persistence, and common sense.
In his book Lynch talks about developing the company story before investing in the
stocks of any company. Being able to develop the story comes from conducting the
research of the company s financial health and
The Forgotten Legion By Directed By Ridley Scott
The words veni, vidi, vici, or otherwise roughly translated as I came, I saw, I
conquered , were spoken by the man who could be considered as ancient Rome s
most famous persona, Julius Caesar. These three words have become iconic and
synonymous with what can readily be labeled as ancient Roman philosophy . It was
an outlook that, in certain contexts, marginalized groups of people through slavery
while glorifying the image of honour and warfare. The Forgotten Legion, written
by Ben Kane, ideally follows the story of three men, two ex gladiators and an
Etruscan prophesier, as they travel to the far reaches of the Roman Republic s hold

Being labelled as slave was a harsh reality faced by the characters of The Forgotten

unforeseen scrap, both gladiators were confronted with an opportunity to escape the
city and free themselves from slavery. After leaving Rome, it becomes evident to both

removal of their brands:
Seeing the slave population [as they travelled through the countryside] had increased
both men s desire to discard all memories of their own captivity. Romulus and
Brennus brands were permanent evidence of their status ... [that left] only one
solution. [Brennus] heated the blade over the flames before removing the hated letter

The brand was a discernible indication for prompt execution for run away slaves;
furthermore, the implications of the mark stemmed any chance of the ex gladiators

Why Was Prohibition So Popular In Canada
In modern days, alcohol is a popular drug that people consume generally. However,
there was a time when any kind of activity related to alcohol was illegal. Drinking,
transporting, producing, selling, and buying of intoxicating alcohol was prohibited
under Canadian law. This time was called, Prohibition . Despite Prohibition being
adopted with good intentions, it was not successful. However, it was necessary for
Canada to keep their troops fed during the war. Not only did Prohibition unite people
in backing the troops overseas, but it also showed women they had political
influence. It spurred them into a more confident political activism in the future. It
was also an ideal example of the government compromising with people who have

In the process, prohibition united Canadians behind the war effort. Even though
many people still drank alcohol made from wood and other sources, there was a
greater meaning to the cooperation between Canadians. While the troops were
fighting overseas, every individual citizen of various age groups participated in
backing them up. Grown ups compensated the ingredients of intoxicating beverages
to procure adequate amounts of food for the soldiers. Youths joined the protestants
who demanded prohibition, and they walked into the parade holding up the slogan,
Water is the War Drink (closing pg.78). Prohibition when it was for supporting
troops overseas, provided an opportunity for Canadians to work together in one
massive group. It helped people to be united for the same reason. Many people
strived to fulfill this goal, gaining attention throughout the country, and discovered a
new devotion towards being a part of Canada. Prohibition settled a most basic
outline to form a modern day Canada; uniting people into one country. In addition, it
played a significant role in providing the people with the sense of being part of
Canada, it had a significant role in gaining political rights of women and other
Gene and Vincent
This story is about the fight of the under dog. How are the themes of prejudice and
courage developed in the film GATTACA? Gattaca directed by Andrew Niccol, is
set in a future where science, and not religion, has taken over society. A new form
of discrimination has arisen, called genoism, discrimination according to one s
genetic purity. The story follows a man named Vincent Freeman who was born as a
god child this means he was genetically inferior to people born with the aid of
technology. Vincent faces extreme genetic discrimination and prejudice, making it
harder for his life long dream of being an astronaut. But we soon find that with
courage and determination Vincent can rise up and live his dream despite being...

If Vincent were to be exposed as an invalid he would lose his position and would be
subject to fines. Just like the rest of his life Vincent would be a victim of genetic
discrimination. While all this chaos is happening at Gattaca, we find out that the
detective in charge is Vincent s brother Anton. Anton tries to convince Vincent to
go with him before he is found out by the other detectives. It soon becomes clear
that Anton is doing this more out of insecurity and is more concerned with how
Vincent has managed to get the better of him, despite his supposed genetic
superiority. Vincent and Anton settle their dispute the way they did when they
were kids, by seeing who could swim further out into the ocean. As it happens
Vincent rises up and beats Anton and saves him from drowning. This is simply
because he refused to save any strength for the swim back; he is willing to risk
everything to succeed. This is a perfect example of a fight of the underdog; Vincent
used all his strength and beat his brother despite his genetic disadvantages. In
conclusion, the film shows many themes of prejudice and discrimination towards
Vincent, simply because of his genetic make up, but this film is about the fight of
the underdog and how Vincent rose up and reached his goal despite being put down
his whole life and being inferior to his brother, friends and co workers. As Vincent
says in the film there is no gene for fate simply
The Physics Behind The Electric Vehicle
The Physics behind the Electric Vehicle It has been estimated that there will be
approximately 1200 million motor vehicles by the year 2020. That is almost twice
the number of cars that are already traveling on our busy roads. Due to this ever
increasing vehicle population, the demand for fuel will continue to increase as
well. With the depleting supply of oil already an issue for the U.S. especially, there
is a growing interest in alternative energy fuels that can be used to power motor
vehicles. Electric vehicles (EV) are one of the cleanest and most environmentally
friendly cars available at this point in time. By definition, an electric car is an
automobilethat is propelled by one or more electric motors, using electrical energy
stored in rechargeable or another energy storage device. The electric motors used in
these cars gives off instant torque, creating strong and smooth acceleration. Some of
the models of EVs have an electric motor for each wheel. Having these four motors
not only allows for better propulsion, but also for the use of braking and changing
the kinetic energy back into chemical energy in the batteries. The traction that the car
gets is also increased with each wheel driving. In some of the EV models the electric
motors can be mounted directly inside the mounting for the wheel, which enables a
loss of all the moving parts between the motor and the wheel. When there is no axle,
differential, or transmission, the EVs have less drivetrain
Bright Lights, Big City And White Noise
Comparison Paper: Bright Lights, Big City and White Noise
Bright Lights, Big City
Bright Lights, Big City, is an American narrative, by Jay Mclnerney. The narrative
is among America s most notable novels, presented in the second person. In the
book, Mclnerney presents the narrator as a worker for highbrow magazine. He
depicts the narrator as party maniac, and cocaine user, who intends to literally lose
himself in the profligacy (hedonism), of the yuppie party scene (McInerney 213).
The narrator frequented Heartbreak , a preeminent nightclub in New York City.
Amanda, the narrator s wife opted to walk out on him, after establishing her
modelling career in Paris. The narrator lived in denial. He opted to assume his wife
s departure, and live as if nothing had change. He lived in the hope that his wife
would return (McInerney 343). Nonetheless, the narrator opted to search for his
wife at her fashion events. He was overly fixated on his wife s memory, where he
obsessed on her possessions, her modelling pictures, and a dummy based on her.
Overtime, his incongruous lifestyle influenced his career. Progressively, the narrator
became overly disillusioned, and fixated on his wife, and the acquisitive New York
culture. White Noise

Seeing Voices
By Oliver Sacks
Seeing Voices is a profound novel that was written by famous neurologist, Oliver
Sacks in 1989. Seeing Voices is a book that delves into the history of Sign
Language and expresses a genuine meaning behind what language truly is. Oliver
Sacks is an engaging and fascinating writer. Being able to explore outside what he
is used to, he can expand his knowledge about language. Being knowledgeable on
psychiatry can help him get a better understanding of cognitive ability in the deaf
community and the importance of why keeping Sign Language away from Deaf
children is not beneficial for them in the hearing world. Like many of his books, ...

The language of the Deaf is usually consistent with the environment the language is
being spoken in. For example, the signs that one can encounter in British Sign
Language can be different than signs that are seen in American Sign Language.
Although Sign Language itself is very universal, the specific patterns and methods of
speaking that are associated with each kind of Deaf Community can be drastically
different.
Sacks himself was not deaf, but it was an exciting experience for him to dive into a
community he was not familiar with. The second part of the book, Sacks goes into
detail about the importance of Sign Language itself and discusses the situation in
which he meets a young Deaf boy named Joseph. When reading this book, I
completely understood and agreed with Sacks when he stated that deaf children
must learn a language at a young age to be successful. With that being said, Oliver
Saks researched American Sign Language, and as a result, he ultimately decided that
the Critical Period Hypothesis is extremely important when discussing the Deaf
community. This theory states that there is a critical age at which people should
learn a language, or they will forever be unable to express themselves with little to
no education in language. Sacks show that by keeping Sign Language away from
Deaf children is ultimately hurting them rather than helping. Forcing deaf children at
a young age to speak and not use Sign Language as their first language is
Analysis Of Half A Day By Naguib Mahfouz
Time was a system created to help us organize our lives, but isn t it just a ticking
clock telling us how much we have left? In order to the get the most out of our
lives, we use must use it wisely. In Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the
reader that you must live life because it will quickly passyou by. He demonstrates this
by having the character experience new things, time passing quickly, and showing
evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to
experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his
father tells him Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this
quote is that the young boy is trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to
experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using what all life
has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is
trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey
that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new
things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry
your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new
school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy
it rather than shy away from the new things. She direct states that you must live
joyfully , so that shows me that the author wanted the boy to realize he must live life

Who Am I Am Essay
PASSport Essay #1 The question who am I ? Can have a lot of individuals thinking
about themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It
is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I
realized more in depth what kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths.
Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead
me to answering the question above and understandingmore of myself within. First
off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn t
take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I
failed. I believehaving classmates at the time who weren t as focused as I wanted to
be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I
felt learningwas so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I
needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very
well. Rath (2007) explains that, The process, more than the content or the result, is
especially exciting for you (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I
enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning
new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to
get in to or if I don t do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning
more even when I know I didn t do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as
long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue
to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a
few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I
have failed makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let
it get me down. I will not get further if I don t keep trying and as a learner I am a
motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few
of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I
have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I ve worked in the
past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer.
Vertical And Horizontal Analysis Of Starbucks
Accounting helps to measure an organizations activities, process data into reports,
and translate the results to decision makers. Financial statements and reports help to
present the company to the public in financial terms. The information on these data
statements can used to evaluate the company through vertical and horizontal
analysis. Vertical analysis is the proportional analysis of a financial statement.
Normally, vertical analysis is done with a financial statement over a period of time.
When using vertical analysis, a line item on a financial statement is listed as a
percentage of another item (Harrison, 2015). A horizontal analysis is the comparison
of information or ratios over a series of reporting periods. Horizontal analysis helps
investors and analysts to control how a company has grown over time. Analysts and
investors could use horizontal analysis to compare a company s growth rates in
relation to its competitors and industry.
Accounts Receivable:
Starbucks financial position can be figured out by studying their balance sheet. A
financial item that can be found on the balance sheet is accounts receivable.
Accounts receivable refers to money owed to a organization by its borrowers.
Horizontal analysis can be used to assess an item on the balance sheet. Starbucks
accounts receivable increased from $561.4 million in 2013, to $631 million in 2014.
That is a 12% increase in just a year. Accounts receivable is categorized as an asset
on the balance sheet. In 2013 the accounts receivable was 4.8% of total assets. In
2014, the company saw a 5.8% increase in their total assets. Overall, the accounts
receivable jumped up by 12% in 2014. Starbucks allowance for uncollectable
receivables is calculated based on histroalical experience, credit history, and
application of the specific identification method. Uncollectable receivables are not
available on Starbucks balance sheet. There are however, fixed aseets on the balance
sheet such as plant, equipment, and property.
Starbucks Total fixed assets increased from $3,200.5 billion in 2013 to $3,519

Cooperation Without Trust In Society
A Very Rough Draft
Society is structured primarily on trust and cooperation. Social security is exactly the
same way, the public cooperates in paying their taxes and trusts the government to
reimburse them when they retire. Most people believe they will not be reimbursed
fully for the social security tax they paid into. This shared opinion is exemplified in
the media, by the movie Going Out in Style. The film is about senior citizens
robbing a bank to regain the money the government took from them. In the scholarly
chapter, The Role of Trust in Society , from the educational book, Cooperation
Without Trust, authors Karen S. Cook, Russel Hardin, and Margaret Levi write with
a distinct purpose to make the reader aware that we cooperate without trust often
times even though trust is a big thing for us in our society to form relationships.

Narrative Frames and Interpretive Models in Troilus and Criseyde
Interpretive certainty is purposely elusive in Geoffrey Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde
. Meaning within the text is convoluted and continually renegotiated. Any attempt to
design a singular coherent stable source of meaning is problematic at best.
Throughout the work, narrative frames are broken and reordered and the validity of
any fixed interpretive model is challenged. Virtually every broad thematic discussion

The personality of the narrator is foregrounded and exists as a character engaged in
an open dialogue with the reader. The narrator is thoroughly unreliable in his ability
to serve as the sole source of information and insight, a figure possessing absolute
control of the text. The authority of the narrator is paradoxically undermined and
underscored by admission of his own inadequacies in shaping the text.
Whether from mythological beings, ancient writers, a fictitious mentor, or the
actual reader of the poem, the narrator claims to need support from outside sources
in order to effectively tell the tale. The narrator portrays himself alternately as
reluctant, ignorant, or simply incapable of fulfilling his duties. He invokes the
powers of the Furies, Cleo, Venus, and the Fates at the beginning of each book to
inspire and enhance his narrative skills. The invocations not only serve as symbolic
bridges to the actions that follow in each book, but also allow the possibility of
distance to develop between the narrator and his creative responsibility to the work.
By invoking the gods, the narrator could be seen as an intermediary, a conduit, a
pawn, rather than an active participant.
The narrator does not, however, wish to completely shirk his creative contribution to
the text. Instead, he attempts to qualify it. He likens his skill

It was also to move away from tenement dwellings. Most of the tenement buildings

However, upon further examination, the reader learns it is actually a story about a
woman s desires and frustrations in her life. Steinbeck uses many examples, such as
the flowers to symbolize the thoughts and ideas of the main character, Elisa, in this
story. Elisa Allen is a lonesome womanwho gets pleasure from growing her

colored smoke? ... That s it. What a nice way to describe them. Elisa feels
appreciated and attractive to this stranger after this comment. His compliment to
her about her flowers leads her to feel obligated to allow him to fix her pots. After
Elisa lets the tinker into the yard, she goes and gets a bright red flower pot. The fact
that the pot is red is important here because red is a symbol of power and passion. At
this point in the story, Elisa is starting to feel her own power. She is understanding
she can bring forth life in her flowers, even if she is not powerful in other aspects
of her life. Also, since the encounter with the man is likened to a sexual experience,
the red flower pot is significant of their passion for one another, while the pot is
symbolic of herself and her feelings. When Elisa is digging up the flowers to put in
the pot, Steinbeck comments that The gloves were forgotten now . This part of the
story is when she is coming to the height of her experience with the salesman.
Digging in the dirt is raw and it makes her feel free. While she was being sexually
frustrated Elisa in the beginning of the story, and covering her hands with gloves,
now she has been liberated. After she explains about the how to care for the fragile
Heritgae Museum Innovation
The Impact of Innovation on Heritgae Museum s identities

The purpose of this study is to define and examine the range design requirements for a
variety of case studies on heritage museums with modern intervention, each of which
has a different type: internal intervention, addition or integration. In doing so, an
analysis of the impact of the case by case design requirements that the innovation has
on the building s idenity can be made. Furthermore, the literature review will
highlight the fact that there are similarities and differences while finally considering
the notion that comparisons and commendalities could be made and will be further
explored.

The aim was to preserve the architectural integrity of the ex isting building (Stott,
2014). The proposed design hides underground beneath the existing footprint of the
museum, which acts as a landmark for the ar chitecturally conservative city. Ashley
Hahn says, the expansion is by excavation, and removing ob structions inserted into
the museum s original de sign, which allow for major improvements to light,
circulation, and exhibition space. These are the main design requirements of which
the project is based. In other areas, Gehry added simple sand stone clad stair
enclosures to accommodate mod ern safety regulations (Hahn, 2014). He began by
studying the DNA of the building. He then looked at the significant assets that the
original architects provided to create a strong entry sequence and cir culation pattern.
The aim of this is to connect the new to the old giving the impression that the mu

A Brief Note On Sociology And Sociology Class
After conducting five interviews, I found some similarities and differences on
their views of what sociology is. I interviewed two females and three males. The
ages from the interviewee s ranged from 19 to 56. All of my respondent s in this
research were white. The five respondents had a different socioeconomic status.
One of the respondents is still in school, and does not work at the moment, so I
listed her as a low socioeconomic class. I interviewed both of my parents, and they
are at a middle class standing. Also, I interviewed my girlfriend s mom and dad,
and they are also at a middle class standing, while her mom got her BA, and is a
nurse. Both my girlfriend and her parents are Republican s, while my parent s are
Democrats. The first question I asked in these interviews was, What the discipline of
sociologyis, and what they expect when they enroll in an Introduction to Sociology
class. The majority of my respondents did not know what the discipline of sociology
meant. Except for one respondent said The discipline of sociology can range from
criminology, politics, and philosophy. To the second part of the first question, the
answers were all the same. All of my respondents went on to say, the basics of
sociology, study human behavior, the interactions of people from, different races,
gender and different socioeconomic class. On the next question, about what
sociologist study, I received common answers from my respondents. All the
respondent s answers was,

How To Write An Excellent Essay

  • 1. How To Write An Excellent Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "How To Write An Excellent Essay" may seem paradoxical, as it requires a meta-awareness of the very skill one is attempting to showcase. The challenge lies in striking a delicate balance between providing valuable insights and avoiding the trap of sounding repetitive or overly didactic. To begin with, there's the inherent pressure to demonstrate proficiency in essay writing. The irony is that while dissecting the anatomy of a stellar essay, the author must navigate through the labyrinth of varied writing styles, structures, and tones, all the while adhering to the very principles they are espousing. This can be akin to a tightrope walk, where one misstep could undermine the credibility of the essay itself. Additionally, articulating nuanced advice without descending into clichГ©s or trivialities poses a formidable challenge. The risk of sounding preachy or stating the obvious looms large, demanding a constant evaluation of each word and phrase. The essay becomes a sort of high- wire act, demanding precision and finesse in every sentence. Moreover, the paradox extends to the expectation of originality. A guide on writing an excellent essay necessitates innovation in presentation and approach. However, there is a perpetual struggle to avoid the clichГ©d pointers that saturate the discourse on essay writing. Finding a unique perspective or offering fresh insights requires not only creativity but also a deep understanding of the existing body of knowledge on the subject. In essence, crafting an essay on how to write an excellent essay demands a meticulous dance between showcasing proficiency and avoiding the pitfalls that may compromise the very essence of the demonstration. It's a task that involves self-awareness, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of clarity and coherence. In conclusion, the challenge lies not just in imparting knowledge but in doing so with a finesse that mirrors the excellence one seeks to advocate. It's a task that requires a delicate balance, akin to a literary high-wire act, and only through such careful navigation can one hope to create an essay that truly embodies the principles it expounds. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or exploring a broader range of writing services, resources like HelpWriting.net offer a plethora of options to cater to various academic needs. We really wanted to try ourselves, giving interpretation of our results so that we dug into the existing literature and found out a very interesting research paper written by Garson in 1991. In В« Illuminating the black box: a randomization approach for understanding variable contributions in artificial neural networks В», Olden and al. describes Garson s algorithm very concisely so that we could create a user defined function on Python that replicates the method. The BM ratio allows us to categorize companies into either a growth (low BM ratio) or a value (high BM ratio) profile and past empirical studies (see Fama and French) suggest that portfolios formed over value companies tend to out perform portfolios formed over growth companies over time. We don t know the influence direction of the variable (given the PCA black box transformation and Garson s output) but we can formulate hypotheses on the fact that value companies tend to beat the market more often than growth companies. Dividend yield and EVtoEBITDA that are our 2nd and 3rd most relevant variables for Neural Nework output also support this previous fact high dividend yield paying companies characterize generally value companies, while the EVtoEBITDA ratio characterize the relative price of a company since it returns how many times an investor is willing to buy the EBITDA (Earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of a company when he purchases a share of the company. An investor that invests in high EVtoEBITDA companies has generally good growth prospects views regarding the recurrent earnings of the company. According to some researchers all the definitions of the concept can be grouped into three views (Peng and Pleggenkuhle Miles, 2008). The first view considers global strategy as a particular form of multinational corporation strategy that treats all the countries as a global marketplace. The second view states that global strategy is related to international strategic management and the third perspective incorporates both international and domestic corporate strategy. Starting from the relationship between pressure to cut costs and pressure to adapt to local conditions (Figure 1), four strategic approaches for global level business have been identified: multi domestic, global, international and of countries across the world with a single strategy that is highly co ordinated and integrated t (Stonehouse, Hamill, Campbell and Purdie, 2004, p. 4). States, such as Virginia, still imposed a ban on interracial marriages. The charges against the protagonists, Mildred and Richard Loving, spiked my interest because of the enhanced step taken by society as was taken in modern times during the same sex marriagecase Obergefell v. The court during the twentieth century was forced to question our evolving standards of decency and define our Constitutional rights given to us by Equal Protection and Due Process laws of the fifth and fourteenth amendment. The prosecution in Loving v. Virginiahad to display their reasoning for their holding by under the levels of scrutiny in the Equal Protection Clause. The defense had to prove there was inconsistent levels of scrutiny, a lack of compelling governmental interest, and that marriage was a fundamental right. Coffe and the History of Ethiopia The popularity of coffee began with its introduction to Europe in the 17th century, a time when colonialism had brought many resources to countries like France and Britain. In Europe, coffee was a delicious beverage, and was very inexpensive due to the monopoly of coffee imports from colonized to colonizer. But while tea was still the preferred choice in North America, an increasingly higher tax on America s favorite beverage led to the Boston Tea Party. Tea forever came to be known for the British oppressor, and coffeebecame as popular in the U.S. as it was in Europe. The popularity of coffee remained because the colonies in Africawere required to export all precious resources to Europe. Despite the history of exploitation of resources in many African countries, the coffee industry in Ethiopia has thrived, taking a product that is in high demand and creating a stable economy, leading to the improvement of its citizen s economic prosperity. This is because Ethiopia was one of the few areas not colonized by European powers, letting it avoid the consequences of colonialism and focus on the development of a country. Since the beginning of imperialism, Ethiopia has stood apart from other African nations. Being one of the only two countries in Africa that had not been colonized, Ethiopia had great potential to thrive without the distraction of foreign powers. In 1896 Ethiopia defeated Italy at the Battle of Adwa, which remains famous today as the first victory of an African

Metaphors are one of the most common figures of speech found in literature. Not to be confused with similes; metaphors differ by not using words such as like or as in the comparing process. If you use them correctly, they can make visualizing and understanding a cake walk for readers. Metaphors aren t just used sentence by sentence. Sometimes whole paragraphs, stanzas, and even entire works of literature are metaphors. These are called extended metaphors Examples of extended metaphors can be found in Romeo and Juliet where Romeo creates a trend of comparing Juliet to the sun saying things such as But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun! Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief. , The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost is just an elaborate metaphor about life and not following what everyone else does to create a more authentic life for yourself, and in mother to son by Langston Hughes which compares a rough staircase to life and its challenges. Metaphors can be found everywhere using all different kinds of forms and lengths. During the puritan era it was common for writers to use religious metaphors. Whether the metaphor only lasted one line or engulfed the entire body of work, almost every story or poem referenced Christianity. Some of

Thus, Chile, like many other Latin American nations at the time, adopted a policy of import substitution industrialization. Prior to the Great Depression, Chile had prospered amidst the workings of free market and mercantilist polices. The Great Depression, however, disrupted this, as it brought about the necessity of government intervention in the economy. Different aliases were added to this one, remarkably Son of Re (the sun god) and Perfect God, both presented in the fourth administration (c. 2575 2465 bce), when the incredible pyramids were developed. The name Son of Re put the ruler in a nearby, however, impoverished connection with the heading figure in the pantheon. Twenty four hour work shifts are common among the EMT industry and the resulting fatigue is causing mental and physical health issues with EMT s as well as safety issues for both EMT s and the patients they are responding to. I believe that the EMT profession needs work hour regulation similar to those of long haul truck drivers, medical residents, pilots and railroad conductors. Virtually every branch of commercial or public transportation has very strict rules on hours that their employees can operate, except EMT. (Medic Madness) The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) plans to announce a research team in the coming years, which will develop fatigue management programs for the EMT industry. These programs will educate EMTs on proper fatigue management as well as teach them the negative effects fatigue has on the body and mind. In my opinion, the regulation of work hours and the development of fatigue management programs in the EMT profession is long overdue. There are a variety of reasons that EMT s are working twenty four hour and longer shifts, and the blame can be established on both the employee and the employer. Since it is cheaper to use twenty four hour work shifts and it requires less bodies to staff, some companies will do so to increase their profit margin and turn a blind

When researching papers that could help determining if there is a casual link between sports in postsecondary schools and male attendance, the only thing that was found of interest was that High school athletic participation was significantly related to educational progress among suburban and rural white males. With the depleting supply of oil already an issue for the U.S. especially, there is a growing interest in alternative energy fuels that can be used to power motor vehicles. Electric vehicles (EV) are one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly cars available at this point in time. By definition, an electric car is an automobilethat is propelled by one or more electric motors, using electrical energy stored in rechargeable or another energy storage device. The electric motors used in these cars gives off instant torque, creating strong and smooth acceleration. Some of the models of EVs have an electric motor for each wheel. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things. She direct states that you must live joyfully , so that shows me that the author wanted the boy to realize he must live life

  • 30. Who Am I Am Essay PASSport Essay #1 The question who am I ? Can have a lot of individuals thinking about themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I realized more in depth what kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths. Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead me to answering the question above and understandingmore of myself within. First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn t take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I failed. I believehaving classmates at the time who weren t as focused as I wanted to be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learningwas so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007) explains that, The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to get in to or if I don t do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know I didn t do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I have failed makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don t keep trying and as a learner I am a motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I ve worked in the past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer.

Social security is exactly the same way, the public cooperates in paying their taxes and trusts the government to reimburse them when they retire. Most people believe they will not be reimbursed fully for the social security tax they paid into. This shared opinion is exemplified in the media, by the movie Going Out in Style. The film is about senior citizens robbing a bank to regain the money the government took from them. In the scholarly chapter, The Role of Trust in Society , from the educational book, Cooperation Without Trust, authors Karen S. Whether from mythological beings, ancient writers, a fictitious mentor, or the actual reader of the poem, the narrator claims to need support from outside sources in order to effectively tell the tale. The narrator portrays himself alternately as reluctant, ignorant, or simply incapable of fulfilling his duties. He invokes the powers of the Furies, Cleo, Venus, and the Fates at the beginning of each book to inspire and enhance his narrative skills. The invocations not only serve as symbolic bridges to the actions that follow in each book, but also allow the possibility of distance to develop between the narrator and his creative responsibility to the work. The narrator does not, however, wish to completely shirk his creative contribution to the text. Instead, he attempts to qualify it. He likens his skill

His compliment to her about her flowers leads her to feel obligated to allow him to fix her pots. After Elisa lets the tinker into the yard, she goes and gets a bright red flower pot. Also, since the encounter with the man is likened to a sexual experience, the red flower pot is significant of their passion for one another, while the pot is symbolic of herself and her feelings.
