My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests
and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some
factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture
may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and
sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a
person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set
individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content...
Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends
I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music'
is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of
adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart
pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I
love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be
on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics
that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly
consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering
(especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is
measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very
strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that,
although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will
not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a
person's identity. I have not had too many educational

Describe Myself As A Student
Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from
your personal academic and non–academic experiences.
A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition
in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning
is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable,
challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors
Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think,
present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the
ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve
that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is
preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a
career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to
accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic
decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so,
I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I
expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions

Reflective Essay About Myself
Tell me a little bit about yourself. (Inspiration: Consider what brings you to the program, the roles
you identify with in your life, education & work experience, hobbies and interests, etc). I like to
think I'm very outgoing and ambitious. My mom always tells people about how when I was
much younger, and when she took me out grocery shopping I'd always smile and say hello to
anyone who walked by, I think that says a lot about my personality. My high school highly
recommended that everyone took a cooperative program before they graduated. This was the
opportunity I had been waiting for! Finally, I would be able to have the chance to gather some
actual career experience in something I've wanted to do for as long as I could remember, it was
my dream job! It was being a kindergarten teacher. From my very first day at my placement, I
managed to fall in love with every single aspect. After my placement I set out on my path to
further my education. I applied to all my top universities. I was very fortunate enough to be
accepted into all of them. However, when I delved further into researching the certain programs
that I had applied to, my options slowly dwindled. It was either too expensive and completely
unrealistic, or the program wouldn't lead me down the path of working in a preschool. However,
there was still my last option: at a University all the way in Windsor, a few minute drive away from
Detriot– yeah it was far. Although, the program was great. Concurrent

Reflection About Myself
During this Semester I have written six essays, and all of them were a little different. All of them
had a different purpose in writing and required a different skill too. There are things that I did both
good and bad in writing all of these essays. The first essay that I had to write for this class was a
Self–Assessment essay, about my writing career and how the four basics have been involved in my
life. This was a more personal essay about myself, while I have also had to write some essays about
a feeling that I had, and also one about a specific topic. There were several different essays, and
ways that I had to write them. The first essay I wrote, the Self–Assessment, was about the four
basics and how they have been in my life and...show more content...
I chose dedication because I knew that it was something that I could write a lot on. This was my
favorite essay to write in the class, mostly because the topic was something that I could write a lot
on. The best part about this essay is the way that it was written, it was very easy to read. Also the
way the opposing views and examples worked well in showing how what I said was good. The
ending could have been a lot better, there was not much of a conclusion to it, and it was weak
compared to how the rest of the essay was. Also, I tended to have some very long paragraphs, and
then some smaller ones too. I need to work better on making sure that all of the paragraphs are
closer in length and how to try and limit writing on one specific topic (paragraph) and learn how to
move onto the next.
After that, there was the Research Essay, and I chose to write on concussion in football. I chose
to write on this topic, because I have always been interested in this. I explained what a concussion
was, and how people get them and what to do when you have one. I also talked about the new
changes or ways that the sport is making to help prevent concussions. I liked how the essay flowed
and it was set up. There were things that I could have done better in the paper, and one

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always
maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core
Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to
complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite
successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge
have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe
that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was
the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My
mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging
and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to
handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so
supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father
instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times
with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted
me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not
benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as
a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my
responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father
told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people
always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and
famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one
day I could possibly

Defining Myself Essay
Sometimes a person may feel that they have no purpose in life. Finding out who you are just
takes the time of sitting down and thinking of the importance in your life. Who am I? I am
Mercedes Kimberly Kingston, and I am a person with different personalities, characteristics, and
identities. The many ways, in which I identify myself, in fact, are the ways that define who I am.
My Identity is something only I can fully define. I have a little brother, which makes me a sister; I
have two loving parents, which makes me a daughter; I am in college studying medicine, which
makes me a student; and I have wonderful friends in desperate need of support, which makes me a
wonderful best friend. Before anything, I am a big sister to...show more content...
It is seen as an essential part of learning and using what you learn in class. But when you get loads of
class work and have very little time to finish it, then it becomes an unnecessary burden. Yet,
sometimes, for me, it is the fact that I procrastinate that prevents me from completing a task. For
college student, like myself who is working to pay for college, large amounts of class work
usually brings lots of stress and fear of not being able to get good grades in many of my classes.
Yet, I have support from my family, friends, and some peers who encourage me to put up a good
fight in reaching my goal. I am a student that has gone through so much to get here, where I am.
There were times that I had strong feelings that I would never be in college, just because of the
negative energy I forced upon myself. Since pre–K, I have had this problem that if I can't do
something I just give up, and stop trying. I still have this problem, but I have learned to get a control
on it. The biggest problem was graduating from high school. I never thought that I would ever
graduate. But I knew, as a student, I should at least try and show my teachers that I am putting effort.
And now, I'm in college, studying pre–med, and hoping to become either a pediatrician, or a NFL
Doctor. Growing up as a daughter to a single mom, was, I think, the best experience ever. I was, and
am still, very spoiled. I always had everything that I ever wanted. And

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

Self Care Essay example
Just to think about self care can be a task in itself. I never really thought it about it, to be honest,
but it is an essential part of living. We get so busy and caught up living in our everyday lives that
we forget about the most important part, ourselves. I have two young kids ages 3 and 5, so my
focus is always to take care of them and make sure their needs are met, forgetting about myself along
the way. I think this assignment will help me to appreciate and not take for granted the things that I
know I need to do for myself and to show love to the most important person, me.

the focus of the work. Psychotherapists tend to disregard their...show more content...
In class we discussed "saying no" being apart of our plans and I know that this is a must for me.
At times I find myself running around like a chicken with its head cutoff. If only I had the courage
to tell people no when I really need to the most. This will be tough for me but I know that it will
help me have more time to do the things I love.
Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What
better way to be a good therapist? Starting the process of self–care now will hopefully alleviate
future problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting
out with determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation
that I need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a
task, instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day.
Its not so much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate,
it is finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and
take care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending
Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in
helping myself first.

What Is Self Worth Essay
Your self worth is more important than you think, many people don't realize that it is an important
asset to your everyday life. Self–worth, self–esteem, and self–respect are the three things that many
people struggle with. No matter how ugly people can be you have to keep in mind you are as
worthy as anybody else. People criticize one another without realizing the damage that is done to
their piers. I will be showing you some steps that have helped me gain respect for myself. Step 1
is to never compare yourself to anybody else and to love yourself . Step 2 is to surround yourself
with supportive people. Step 3 is to always talk positive about yourself. Step 1 is to never
compare yourself to anybody else to love yourself . Its natural for us to compare ourselves to
others, but it doesn't improve our status, make us a better person, or secure our happiness. In
many cases its does the opposite by making us feel bad about ourselves. For example, i used to
compare myself to other people who were way prettier and thinner than me. Comparing myself to
them wasn't helping me at all it was just bringing myself esteem down, building more of my
insecurities up, just making me be so negative. But i noticed by doing that it wasn't helping me feel
any better about myself it was just doing the opposite. What helped me stop was that i started to
learn how to love my self just the way I am, i realized that every human has their own insecurities.
Loving yourself is very important, do not

Reflective Essay About Myself
Walking into my fifth grade classroom for the millionth time, I searched around the room to see
if there was anyone like me. A girl with chocolate skin. For as long as I can remember, I was the
only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends.
Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with
long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I
like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment or
not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began
to wonder why my hair grew the way it did and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning
of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a few
questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would
change my attitude because I no longer looked the way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because
I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced
grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After fifth grade, I
figured I might as well conquer eighth grade alone. It would at least be nice to have a teacher to
talk to about when I get angry about each day instead of keeping everything bottled up. A person "...

Personal Self Assessment Essay
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more
about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process.
You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I
plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success
in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science.Self Assessment is
the first step in my successful future.
I can remember in high school, it seemed like I was always one of the last students finished with a
test.

I have discovered some interesting things I have noticed in myself before taking this course. For
example, my learning style I have noticed is the visual learning style.
With this, I prefer to see and read information to full gain comprehension. If I forget the data, or
not clearly understand it the first time read, I have the option of reading it over. I do not always
trust myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes
help me remember even though I may not read the again, I can refer to them in my mind after
writing them down. I am not sure if just anyone reading them would get anything out of it, but at
least I know what they mean.
I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like
to keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I am comfortable with my learning style, accepted
it as my very own. I am not sure if changing it this late in life is such a good idea. I have got by this
far, it must work out for me.
I have identified my personality style as being extroverted, one who becomes easily energized by
others, and outwardly expressing thoughts as long as I am fully understanding context and material
being discussed. If I have no idea what is being addressed, I am better of keeping quiet to save
myself from

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as
intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly
right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also
making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend
most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors
and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people
has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have
now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and...show more content...
I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic
experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my
grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter
how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I
have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend
most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very
open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different
backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very
young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have
learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting
differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the
discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a
group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is
most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most
important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe
in a bit of

How To Write An Essay About Yourself Example

  • 1. My Personal Identity Essay A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content... Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Describe Myself As A Student Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from your personal academic and non–academic experiences. A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable, challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think, present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so, I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Reflective Essay About Myself Tell me a little bit about yourself. (Inspiration: Consider what brings you to the program, the roles you identify with in your life, education & work experience, hobbies and interests, etc). I like to think I'm very outgoing and ambitious. My mom always tells people about how when I was much younger, and when she took me out grocery shopping I'd always smile and say hello to anyone who walked by, I think that says a lot about my personality. My high school highly recommended that everyone took a cooperative program before they graduated. This was the opportunity I had been waiting for! Finally, I would be able to have the chance to gather some actual career experience in something I've wanted to do for as long as I could remember, it was my dream job! It was being a kindergarten teacher. From my very first day at my placement, I managed to fall in love with every single aspect. After my placement I set out on my path to further my education. I applied to all my top universities. I was very fortunate enough to be accepted into all of them. However, when I delved further into researching the certain programs that I had applied to, my options slowly dwindled. It was either too expensive and completely unrealistic, or the program wouldn't lead me down the path of working in a preschool. However, there was still my last option: at a University all the way in Windsor, a few minute drive away from Detriot– yeah it was far. Although, the program was great. • 4. Reflection About Myself During this Semester I have written six essays, and all of them were a little different. All of them had a different purpose in writing and required a different skill too. There are things that I did both good and bad in writing all of these essays. The first essay that I had to write for this class was a Self–Assessment essay, about my writing career and how the four basics have been involved in my life. This was a more personal essay about myself, while I have also had to write some essays about a feeling that I had, and also one about a specific topic. There were several different essays, and ways that I had to write them. The first essay I wrote, the Self–Assessment, was about the four basics and how they have been in my life and...show more content... I chose dedication because I knew that it was something that I could write a lot on. This was my favorite essay to write in the class, mostly because the topic was something that I could write a lot on. The best part about this essay is the way that it was written, it was very easy to read. Also the way the opposing views and examples worked well in showing how what I said was good. The ending could have been a lot better, there was not much of a conclusion to it, and it was weak compared to how the rest of the essay was. Also, I tended to have some very long paragraphs, and then some smaller ones too. I need to work better on making sure that all of the paragraphs are closer in length and how to try and limit writing on one specific topic (paragraph) and learn how to move onto the next. After that, there was the Research Essay, and I chose to write on concussion in football. I chose to write on this topic, because I have always been interested in this. I explained what a concussion was, and how people get them and what to do when you have one. I also talked about the new changes or ways that the sport is making to help prevent concussions. I liked how the essay flowed and it was set up. There were things that I could have done better in the paper, and one Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay about My Core Values Tamneicha Mcdavid Prof.Beck ENC 1101 July 30, 2009 Example Essay My Core Values As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial The first...show more content... To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Defining Myself Essay Sometimes a person may feel that they have no purpose in life. Finding out who you are just takes the time of sitting down and thinking of the importance in your life. Who am I? I am Mercedes Kimberly Kingston, and I am a person with different personalities, characteristics, and identities. The many ways, in which I identify myself, in fact, are the ways that define who I am. My Identity is something only I can fully define. I have a little brother, which makes me a sister; I have two loving parents, which makes me a daughter; I am in college studying medicine, which makes me a student; and I have wonderful friends in desperate need of support, which makes me a wonderful best friend. Before anything, I am a big sister to...show more content... It is seen as an essential part of learning and using what you learn in class. But when you get loads of class work and have very little time to finish it, then it becomes an unnecessary burden. Yet, sometimes, for me, it is the fact that I procrastinate that prevents me from completing a task. For college student, like myself who is working to pay for college, large amounts of class work usually brings lots of stress and fear of not being able to get good grades in many of my classes. Yet, I have support from my family, friends, and some peers who encourage me to put up a good fight in reaching my goal. I am a student that has gone through so much to get here, where I am. There were times that I had strong feelings that I would never be in college, just because of the negative energy I forced upon myself. Since pre–K, I have had this problem that if I can't do something I just give up, and stop trying. I still have this problem, but I have learned to get a control on it. The biggest problem was graduating from high school. I never thought that I would ever graduate. But I knew, as a student, I should at least try and show my teachers that I am putting effort. And now, I'm in college, studying pre–med, and hoping to become either a pediatrician, or a NFL Doctor. Growing up as a daughter to a single mom, was, I think, the best experience ever. I was, and am still, very spoiled. I always had everything that I ever wanted. And Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content... I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. • 8. Self Care Essay example Just to think about self care can be a task in itself. I never really thought it about it, to be honest, but it is an essential part of living. We get so busy and caught up living in our everyday lives that we forget about the most important part, ourselves. I have two young kids ages 3 and 5, so my focus is always to take care of them and make sure their needs are met, forgetting about myself along the way. I think this assignment will help me to appreciate and not take for granted the things that I know I need to do for myself and to show love to the most important person, me. Stress management and self–soothing techniques are critical for surviving modern work–no matter the focus of the work. Psychotherapists tend to disregard their...show more content... In class we discussed "saying no" being apart of our plans and I know that this is a must for me. At times I find myself running around like a chicken with its head cutoff. If only I had the courage to tell people no when I really need to the most. This will be tough for me but I know that it will help me have more time to do the things I love. Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What better way to be a good therapist? Starting the process of self–care now will hopefully alleviate future problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting out with determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation that I need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a task, instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day. Its not so much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate, it is finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and take care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in helping myself first. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. What Is Self Worth Essay Your self worth is more important than you think, many people don't realize that it is an important asset to your everyday life. Self–worth, self–esteem, and self–respect are the three things that many people struggle with. No matter how ugly people can be you have to keep in mind you are as worthy as anybody else. People criticize one another without realizing the damage that is done to their piers. I will be showing you some steps that have helped me gain respect for myself. Step 1 is to never compare yourself to anybody else and to love yourself . Step 2 is to surround yourself with supportive people. Step 3 is to always talk positive about yourself. Step 1 is to never compare yourself to anybody else to love yourself . Its natural for us to compare ourselves to others, but it doesn't improve our status, make us a better person, or secure our happiness. In many cases its does the opposite by making us feel bad about ourselves. For example, i used to compare myself to other people who were way prettier and thinner than me. Comparing myself to them wasn't helping me at all it was just bringing myself esteem down, building more of my insecurities up, just making me be so negative. But i noticed by doing that it wasn't helping me feel any better about myself it was just doing the opposite. What helped me stop was that i started to learn how to love my self just the way I am, i realized that every human has their own insecurities. Loving yourself is very important, do not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflective Essay About Myself Walking into my fifth grade classroom for the millionth time, I searched around the room to see if there was anyone like me. A girl with chocolate skin. For as long as I can remember, I was the only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends. Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment or not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began to wonder why my hair grew the way it did and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a few questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would change my attitude because I no longer looked the way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After fifth grade, I figured I might as well conquer eighth grade alone. It would at least be nice to have a teacher to talk to about when I get angry about each day instead of keeping everything bottled up. • 11. Personal Self Assessment Essay Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science.Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future. For example, my learning style I have noticed is the visual learning style. With this, I prefer to see and read information to full gain comprehension. If I forget the data, or not clearly understand it the first time read, I have the option of reading it over. I do not always trust myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes help me remember even though I may not read the again, I can refer to them in my mind after writing them down. I am not sure if just anyone reading them would get anything out of it, but at least I know what they mean. I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like to keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I am comfortable with my learning style, accepted it as my very own. I am not sure if changing it this late in life is such a good idea. I have got by this far, it must work out for me. I have identified my personality style as being extroverted, one who becomes easily energized by others, and outwardly expressing thoughts as long as I am fully understanding context and material being discussed. • 12. Essay About Myself There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and...show more content... I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
