2. Hypothermia And Hyperthermia
Hypothermia and hyperthermia are very different disorders. The definition of hypothermia is the
condition of having an abnormally low body temperature, typically one that is dangerously low. The
definition of hyperthermia is the condition of having a body temperature greatly above normal.
Extreme temperatures and exposure to different surroundings causes both. Hypothermia is caused
by cold temperatures, diabetes, and thyroid conditions. A few other causes are severe trauma drugs
and some medications. Not only does alcohol cause hypothermia, it can also cause hyperthermia.
Not enough water consumption, lack of air, and environmental heat conditions all contribute to
causing hyperthermia. People who are outdoors get these disorders. The elderly, infants, and
children without heat, clothing, or food are at a higher risk of getting hypothermia. The mentally ill
are also at a great risk. Young children with seizure have a high chance of suffering from

The country of Israel was founded in early 1948 (Bard, 1998). Israel is currently, the only Jewish
state in the world and was recently ranked by US News and World Reports, as the 8th most
powerful country in the world in 2015 as stated in article Jewish virtual library (Bard, 1998). Israel
has a terrain which consists of mostly mountains, plains, coasts, and desert. The country has a
population of about 7.59 million citizens with an annual population growth rate of (2009 est.):
1.7% (Background notes on countries of the world: Israel, 2010). Since the 1980 s, Israel began to
earn a sufficient amount of wealth from the country s natural resources in fertilizers and pesticides,
petrochemicals and plastics. Unfortunately for Israel, every good thing eventually comes to an end.
While the country has had a lot of natural resources in the past, the country began to see more
pollution and a steady decline in the country s resources in the year 2012. As mentioned in the

5. The World Famous Pike place Fish Market
The World Famous Pike Place Fish Market John Yokoyama started working for Pike Place Fish in
Seattle, Washington, in 1960. At age 25, he used all his savings to purchase the unsuccessful
business. He spent the next 20 years running the Pike Place Fish Market, but he says in retrospect
that he treated his employees more like objects or collateral than human beings. He made a living,
but his business did not thrive. Finally, he realized his thoughts, feelings and attitudes were
hindering his success.
This was the changing point. Yokoyama hired a consultant, Jim Bergquist, who helped him
understand how his thoughts, attitudes and actions limited his store s development and his
employees potential. Bergquist helped Yokoyama make powerful changes in his approach. They
created a safe environment for employees to express themselves openly and honestly, breaking
down traditional communication barriers and implementing peer coaching. Yokoyama and his staff
began to envision how they could make a real difference in the lives of other people through their
business, far beyond anything they had imagined. Because they wanted to have a world famous
impact, they changed the shop s name to the World Famous Pike Place Fish Market.
Teach Your Team the Lessons You Learned Yokoyama learned a few hard lessons. He learned that
he had to let go of his preconceived opinions about his employees, listen to their ideas and treat
them with respect, as individuals. He learned to look for the good in

6. The End Of The Stranger By Albert Camus
At the end of The Stranger by Albert Camus, the protagonist Meursault says: For me to feel less
alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that
they greet me with cries of hate. (123). It is here that Meursault proposes a new look at the
relationship between internal sufferingand the external manifestation of that suffering: hateful
spectators. Similarly, in Crime and Punishment, Marmeladov and Katerina have their individual
miseries highlighted through both personal strife and, inevitable, their public deaths. Despite the
different circumstances of their deaths, both seem to suggest that the crowd of disgusted spectators
offer validation to Marmeladov and Katerina s suffering.

Additionally, the carriage drivers story is corroborated by three bystanders: That s exactly how it
was! some witness responded from the crowd. he did shout ... another voice responded everybody
heard it! cried a third. (175). This demonstrates how the audience has a vested interested in being
a part of the narrative. Here, Dostoevsky uses the parallel of the coachman s three shouts with the
three witnesses to show a contradiction between the motives of the two similar but distinct parties.
The carriage driver attempts to distance himself from the tragedy of the event, while the crowd
strives to become part of the tragedy, whether it be by encroaching on the scene, or by confirming
the coachman s story. The witnesses strive to be a part of the struggle, and in doing so, it serves to
highlight the magnitude of Marmeladov s physical suffering.
This interplay between sufferer and spectators culminates when Dostoevsky uses the narrator to
highlight the entertainment value of a tragedy and to elaborate on the satisfaction that the audience
receives from the spectacle. As Marmeladov s death scene approaches its end Katerina pleads with
the spectators to leave: You might as well let him die in peace! she shouted at the whole crowd A
fine show you ve found for yourselves! (179). Katerina laments about the show that Marmeladov s
death has become. She is frustrated that a room full of spectators that she has

8. What Are The Impact Of Detecting Range On The Throughput...
Several studies of routing protocol based on the physical and MAC layers have been done in the
literature. Jing Deng, et al. [1] and Kim et al. [2] argued that the carrier sensing range is a tunable
parameter that can significantly affect the MAC performance in multihop ad hoc networks.
Mustapha, et al. [3] investigated the impact of sensing range on the throughput of MANET by
taking into consideration two essential issues in MAC they are concurrent transmission, which is
referred to spatial reuse, and collision in terms of transmission range persistent probability and
back off time. Vaidya [4] investigated the impact of choosing an optimal carrier sense range by

In their approach, a node identified as blackhole node is blacklisted and an ALARM packet is
sent so that the RREP packet originated from that malicious node is discarded and the routing
table for that node is not updated. However, this algorithm suffers from excessive overhead due
to the update of the threshold value at every time interval and the handling of special ALARM
control packets. In [11], Tamilselvan et al. proposed a solution for preventing blackhole attacks
in MANETs based on AODV protocol. In their solution, the source node waits till other replies
with the next hop details. When the source node receives the RREP packets, it records the
sequence number along with the time the packet arrived in a collect route reply table (CRRT).
After recording the route replies in the CRRT, it calculates the timeout value for each RREP
based on the time first RREP arrived, then it checks the CRRT for any repeated next hop nodes.
The path with the repeated next hop node is considered to be safe. If there is no repeated next
hope node in the CRRT, the algorithm chooses a random path from the CRRT. The main drawback
of this solution is that if there are no repeated next hop nodes in the CRRT, therefore the algorithm
increases the risk of blackhole attack by choosing a random path. In [12], Weerasinghe and Fu
proposed a solution for prevention cooperative blackhole attacks in MANETs. In their solution,
each node maintains a table called Data Routing Information (DRI), which

In the Japanese Tales, translated by Royall Tyler, the observation that animals function as agent of
karma is valid. Aside from this motif, snakes can be portrayed with a broad range of abilities and
personalities in order to teach Buddhist values. Within these many Buddhist values are themes of
karma and lustthat teach a moral lesson, which gives snakes a paradoxical characterization. This
essay will show the complexity in characterization of snakes in order to express karmic

11. The Effects Of Drug Market Pulling Levers Policing On...
Lastly, we will look at the pulling lever strategy used in High Point. Like the authors say in The
Impact of Drug Market Pulling Levers Policing on Neighborhood Violence , the reason why they
did this study was to examine the impact of the various place‐based pulling levers interventions
that were implemented in High Point (Corsaro, Hunt, Hipple, McGarrell). The reader can interpret
from the article that the purpose is to conclude what context is needed for pulling lever strategies to
work in deterrence. They go into an in‐depth statistical analysis describing the sensitivity present
as there could be things like types of selection biases. Statisticians must be careful when navigating
data as we found before where the Panel could not conclude that the pulling lever strategies had a
direct relationship between the crimerates. In the article they do come to a conclusion where they
find that although pulling levers has shown potential when focused on gangs and groups involved
with networks of chronic, violent offenders, far less is known about its capacity to diminish
violent crime associated with locally operated street drug markets (Corsaro, Hunt, Hipple,
McGarrell). Essentially, it is describing the limitations that are presented with pulling lever
strategies. Like multiple of the other articles, they have found that this strategy works for gang
related violence. They question whether the strategy would be as effective if it were applied to
crime that is associated

12. Women In The Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution was long and violent uprising of the people, that was caused by many
different reasons. Many of the documented history that is written is about the experiences of the
men, and the women are hidden from history with their story not being told. Before the Mexican
Revolution women were completely silent and hidden as they were supposed to be completely
devoted to their marriage, their family, and the catholic church. The Mexican Revolutiongave these
women a chance to transform their roles within society and be recognized. Over the years, the
image of the soldadera has been misrepresented in popular culture. The brave, strong woman who

soldaderas went into battle with their children on their backs. 2 They were everyday women
who had roles that the society viewed as normal. They were women who had families and took
care of them at all stations of life. Unfortunately due to female erasure in history the view
portrayed in the picture distorted the image of soldaderas because in reality, they were ordinary
women that were extraordinary only in their will to fight for what they believed in. 3 They were
over sexualized and were viewed as women that were there to please the male soldiers and
provide their womanly charm on the battlefield so the soldiers were not lonely. Other than the
oversexualized depiction of them they were [also] depicted as loyal, self sacrificing companions
to the soldiers or, in less sympathetic renderings, as enslaved camp followers: the loyalty of the
soldier s wife is more akin to that of a dog to its master than to that of an intelligent woman to her

13. Descriptive Essay About Concert
Over the last four years, I ve gone to over thirty concerts for artists whose genres range from pop,
rap, and alternative. Since I m experienced with them, I m aware of the different price ranges and
the stage performances. After my first concert, I started working so that I could afford to have
concerts as a hobby. Even though I have gone to many different types of concerts, like pop, rap, and
alternative, my favorite kind to experience are alternative concerts.
My first concert was also my first time seeing a pop band. Every teenager loved One Direction,
including me, and dreamed of seeing them live one day. This experience meant a lot to me since
it was a band that I had loved for a very long time. The tickets were a gift from my mother,
Melissa, and I went with my sister, Melisvette. During that, I realized how happy concerts made
me and got a job so that I could continue experiencing moments like these. What I didn t want to
experience, though, was the price it was to go to pop concerts.
I wasn t worried about the price of tickets until I started paying for them myself. As a kid, I didn t
contemplate the cost since my mother bought them as a present, but then I started to realize how
ludicrous the prices could be. At the time, I was really into popular bands and artist, so the
concerts were always expensive. I bought tickets to see popular artists like Demi Lovato, Fifth
Harmony, and Twenty One Pilots, twice. These were the ones I spent the most money on and the
seating was just not worth it.
In 2014, I traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to go to a Demi Lovato concert. This was the second pop
concert I ve been to and the first time I traveled a few hours for a concert. At the time, I was still
new to concerts, but I started to see a theme with pop concerts. They were always the most
expensive compared to others and the seats were never that great. For Demi, I spent over $150 to
sit in a seat that wasn t even close to her. Even though her concert meant a lot to me, because I
looked up to Demi Lovato, I just found it unfair how expensive these kinds of concerts were.
Compared to other concerts I ve been to; the popular artists were always the ones to put the least
amount of effort into their performances. Their

INTRODUCTION
IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, and other qualified plans are great ways to plan and save for retirement
(hereinafter, these plans are generally referred to simply as IRAs ). For many individuals, retirement
assets represent a substantial portion of their wealth. And although retirement plans were designed
to permit individuals to save for their own retirement, rather than to accumulate assets to pass to
younger generations, with the right planning implemented these plans can also become legacies for
your beneficiaries. This memo will discuss and illustrate the power of allowing your retirement
assets to grow in a tax deferred environment and how retirement assets can be structured to provide
the greatest benefit to your family.
Without completing the proper planning for IRA assets, you risk losing the ability to maximize
the benefits afforded by deferring the payment of income taxes on these funds. However, by taking
steps to carefully consider the ultimate disposition of these assets, you can ensure that your
beneficiaries receive a stretch of the asset (as explained below), as well as provide them with

18. The Case Of The Australian Legal System
Due to negative aspects that were presented in cases such as the Corey Davis case, the
effectiveness of the Australian Legal System in accomplishing justice began to be viewed to
demonstrate flaws in certain occasions by the Australian public. The Australian legal system
aims to achieve equality and fairness towards the citizens of Australia to avoid anarchy within
the nation. This is accomplished by set rules and laws that are created by the government.
However, if these rules and laws are to be broken by an individual or a group of people living
within the borders of the country, they may face legal consequences that include getting a fine,
imprisonment, a life sentence or in some occurrences, a combination of these forms of
punishment. In the Corey Davis case, an eleven year old boy that is identified as W is sent to

Davis case will be further explored as well as the involvement of the police, the conduct of the
court system throughout the investigation of the case and its influence in achieving justice, and a

whether it is appropriate for modern society will be discussed as the Corey Davis case raised

20. Abolish The Death Penalty Should Not Be Abolished
Wiggins Amanda
Professor Laudani
Composition 1
09 July 2015
Abolish the Death Penalty Since the state has no power to give life, it should not exercise its
power to take a life either. After all, the judicial system is not a fool proof system. The risk of
putting an innocent human being to death by capital punishment, cannot be ruled out. The only
purpose it serves is retribution or revenge. Therefore, the death penalty must be abolished. The
death penalty is prone to errors that may have led to the execution of wrongfully convicted people.
There have been 330 post conviction DNA exonerations here in the U.S (Innocence Project).
The Supreme Court should bring the United States in line with the rest of the world and hold that
death is a cruel and unusual punishment prohibited by the Eighth Amendment. The death penalty
process consumes tremendous amounts of money and resources and fails to deter murders.
The average cost to put someone to death is 1.1 million dollars that Americans are paying for
(Huddar, Buzzle). That money can be used for a lot more things, such as, helping homeless
veterans, who served our country, or children who live in poverty right here in America. It is used
in an often arbitrary and racist manner. In a study commissioned by the governor of Maryland,
defendants who kill white victims were more likely to be sentenced to death than those who killed

four point scale (4. effective, 3. good, 2. fair, and 1. ineffective). I found that the Natchez Adams
curriculum establishes high expectations for teaching and learning. The curriculum is integrated,
relevant, and student centered. Moreover, it uses scientific based research to drive instructions to
ensure that the district is promoting student success. The curriculum team utilized student data to
create standards that demand instruction. Moreover, the curriculum also institutes lesson objectives
and student exercises that scaffold student knowledge to meet the lesson or unit standards.
However, I did notice that the curriculum lacked pacing guides for some subjects. I think pacing
guides are critical for the implantation of an effective curriculum. Pacing guides facilitate alignment
of state standards and national standards. Pacing guides also help teachers and students make the
most of their time. More importantly, pacing guides allow districts to increase student academic
performance and lessen gaps in student learning. In summation, I believe the design and
implementation of the curriculum is consistent with the state and district

22. Why People Commit Crimes In America
The government federal state has a lot of monitoring to do because this state has the most people
in prison. This is ironic because this country is called the free country. Over 25% of the
population in prison are in the United States. This means that we need to set a boundary about
what to do and how to help these people not to commit crime. Maybe America is America because
of all the slaves that were kept captive. Maybe they just were in a bad position to do anything and
gave up so they resorted to committing crimes. We the people must help these group of people get
better and not commit anymore crime. Criminals may happen sometime but having 25% of the
prisoners in the US is too much for a country let alone a free country. Another thing... Show more

people will stop committing crimes. Crimes are really popular in the US because they know that
they will be in jail for only a certain amount of time and they have people in there to live with.
The criminals also know once they are out they will avoid doing their mistake. But we need to
stop the people who are raised badly and fix them on the spot. Prisoners should have a talk with
the world or whoever wants to listen about their story on how they got in jail. This is because
they instantly regret everything they did wrong and try to fix it right away. Another thing is
that people need to learn how to give and not always take from others. For example say you are a
wealthy man/women and you see a homeless man on the street give him like one dollar or
something because you don t know how long he has been starving and why the homeless are on
the street. Everyone has a backstory on how they got there. Homeless might have a backstory of

Changing the oil in a car is a very important thing. If you do not change it your vehicle s motor
could lock up. I am going to explain to you the process of how to change the oil in your vehicle.
There are a few things you will need to do this such as, a ratchet, oil filter, fresh oil, ramps, and
something to drain your oil into. The whole process is pretty simple if you follow these steps.
The first step is to open your hood. There should be a lever inside your door that will release the
hood. Once you get the hood open you will need to take your oil cap off of the motor for better
air flow. It is important to clean the inside of that cap so you do not get any dirt in your motor. You

24. Example Of Decision Analytic Models
Decision analytic models are used to examine cost effectiveness of healthcare interventions. These
models summarise available evidence succinctly for analysis. When there is a lack of observed
evidence, expert opinions on the mean or median values (occasionally the minimum and maximum
range) for the parameter of interest are commonly used. This does not provide sufficient information
to examine whether the distribution of uncertainty surrounding the parameter of interest is
representative of the experts opinion. As this is a key component in Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis

This systematic review by Grigore et al(2) highlighted the need for guidelines to critically appraise
elicitation exercises and suggested for more research to define these measurement criteria. The
authors proposed that until a definitive checklist is developed, the validity and reliability of the
elicitation exercise should always be reported explicitly.
Following this 2013 systematic review, the same authors published an article in 2016, on a study
that compared the results for two commonly used elicitation methods, the histogram and hybrid
methods(3). This study had the following 3 objectives
1)Examine how these two methods appealed to the experts,
2)Determine if there were any differences in the elicited distributions and;
3)Compare the impact of the elicited distributions on an actual decision model
The study results showed that
1)Generally, the experts found the histogram method easier to use compared to the hybrid method
although the two elicitation methods were closely ranked by the experts in terms of ease of use
and face validity
2)The distributions from the histogram method were slightly narrower than the distributions from
the hybrid method, suggesting greater certainty when aggregated.

25. Spider Man Stan Lee Quotes
Quote: With great power comes great responsibility. That quote came from the Spider Man comic
books but is most famous for the movie Spider Man in 2002. But it has quite a bit of meaning. It is
telling you that if you have power over something you need responsibility to control that power.
When Stan Leemade Spider Man he knew he would have to have a special quote that would run
through the whole series. When Stan Lee first started making the comics into what he wanted to
see, and people loved it! Stan Lee completely changed the way comics were made, I guess you
could say that Stan Lee could have changed the world too. When Stan Lee made the comics and
then the movies about his heroes, it gave people inspiration to be able to do things they were to
scared or they thought were not possible before. Just about everywhere you look you see
something from marvel something about his heroes. I believe that Stan Lee changed the way
people saw the world. And maybe how people saw each other. Stan Lee changed the world with his

26. Last Child In The Woods By Richard Lou
Despite being an environmental studies major, I would be lying if I said that the environment and
nature has always had a huge role in my life. The only reason I became interested in the
environment was when I found out about environmental justice and environmental racism. In other
words, because of people. Before I made that connection sometime in high school, I, like many
others, never viewed nature as something that should be, rather something that just was.
Appreciating nature was a subjective value that I had no particular interests in. Because of this,
although I am now what I consider a fully committed and passionate environmentalist, Last Child in

Comparing Henry David Thoreau and Herman Melville s Writings
Henry David Thoreau and Herman Melville focused their writings on how man was affected by
nature. They translated their philosophies though both the portrayal of their protagonist and their
own self exploration. In Moby Dick,
Melville writes about Ahab s physical and metaphysical struggle over the great white whale, Moby
Dick, symbolic of man s struggle against the overwhelming forces of nature. Ahab s quest is
reported and experienced through the eyes of
Ishmael. Melville s use of the third person s biographical standpoint exposes conflicting viewpoints
that were both in agreement and disagreement with Ahab s quest, creatively allowing Melville to

Regardless of the onslaught, predestined for Ahab, he will be doomed to failure because of his
monomaniacal spirited quest; As he shouted with a terrific, land, animal sob, like that of a heart

Aye, aye! And I ll chase him normal Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway

about his experiences at WaldenPond indicated that mankind cannot be persuaded by the
materialism of the world and must aspire to the highest goals of truth, virtue and independence for
his existence. Thoreau would find this transcendental experience through the finest qualities
existing in nature. He states that, most men, even in this comparatively free country through mere
ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the factitious cares and superfluously coarse labor of
life that its finer fruits cannot be plucked by them (p. 790). Thoreau points out the weakening of
man s original calling by the results of the industrial revolution, division of labor, the robotics of
factory life and materialistic vision of life. The end result is self destruction and depression of ones

Two books that I am going to be drawing information from for my paper are Hobbes Leviathan
and Locke s Two Treatises of Government. This essay will be focusing on the differences
between Hobbes and Locke s ideas on the state of nature. One of the biggest, and in my opinion
most important points that makes Hobbes different from Locke is his belief that the state of nature
is equal to the state of war. Thomas Hobbeswas an English philosopher, who lived between 1588
and 1679. He witnessed multiple events throughout his life that later led him to write his book
Leviathan, in 1651 once the war had ended. Hobbes witnessed the English Civil War (1642 1651),

(Hobbes PAGE NUMBER)
After that Hobbes goes on to say, The life of man is solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short.
(Hobbes) He argues that nothing is unjust in the state of nature. He believes that everyone has the
right to do anything he/she wants because in the state of nature, there is no right or wrong and
there is no law; everyone can do everything and nothing can be unjust. He says that Where there is
no common power, no law; where no law, no injustice. (Hobbes)
So all in all with Hobbes, he believes that all people are equal, therefore no power over the others
in the state can be established. Everyone is the enemy to everyone else, therefore, no on can secure
himself/herself, there is no property, and nothing is unjust. So overall, Hobbes state of nature is
very pessimistic and is not a place to survive.
Locke s idea of the state of nature is that everyone is equal to everyone. He states that, the state of
nature is also the state of equality, wherein all the power and jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one
having more than another.. (Locke) Locke however, does not think that this leads the people to
war. He thinks that the state of nature is NOT equal to the state of war, but there is a chance of it
becoming the state of war. He says that the person who committed the crime against a certain

Isis of Egypt The Egyptian Goddess Isis, whom is the Goddess of Health, Marriage, and Wisdom,
has been widely worshipped amongst many religions throughout history seeing as her influence
was able to spread outside Egypt as Isis s influence spread also to the Greco Roman world as
well. The contrast of her worship in the Egyptian world and the Greco Roman world is
particularly fascinating as her worship had evolved over the course of time. In each of these
time periods, as her worship continued temples were built in her name in Egypt and in Greece.
The origins of Isis aren t entirely known, however the first evidence of Isis was found in the fifth
dynasty in the sun temple of Niuserre. Even though this is the first evidence of Isis, some like
Maria Muenster makes the case that Isis was the oldest of the gods, and that she came before the
Old Kingdom of Egypt, There, in the beginning was Isis. Oldest of the old, she was the goddess
from whom all Becoming arose. And later continues to say, In all her great and wonderful works
she was a wiser magician and more excellent than any other god. This all remains to be
speculation however, since her claims are based on a lack of archaeological evidence. Isis s elusive
origins remains a common topic in Ancient Egypt history. Isis s name means throne, and as she is

even though there are already so many movies with similar themes?
According to K.M. Weiland, a prolific writer of books and audios records states that, ...the
beginning of any good story is its hook, and that beginnings are the sales pitch for your entire story
(338). Within the first 5 minutes of Crash, this motion picture was able to hook the audience. The
hook comes in many forms, but stripped down to its lowest common denominator, it s nothing more
or less than a question (Weiland 338). The question that Crash used to hook its audience was by
defining the conflict, creating a tone, and establishing a movement within the first few minutes of
the movie.
The movie begins with the introduction of Graham Waters, an African American detective in the
Los Angeles Police Department, and his female partner Ria that had just been rear ended in a car
accident. Ria, then exited the car to confront the woman who hit them, during which Graham was
seen rambling to himself during the scene. As she exits the car, she sees a Chinese woman named
Kim Lee, Kim was a smaller woman with black hair and a strong Chinese accent. In less than ten
seconds after she left the car both women started to exchange racial insults to one another, each
blaming the other for the crash incident. Waters then exits the car himself and starts walking
towards a police investigation crime scene. Where Waters learned about a discovery of a dead
body. As shown here, the conflict, tone and movement of the movie are already established.
There are three conflicts that are shown immediately at the introduction scene. The car crash itself,

the easiest way to cook these delicious molluscs is steaming. This method requires the steam
created from the cooking liquid to cook the mussels. The cooking liquid can be clam juice, salty
water, wine, or even beer. For this method, the cooking liquid is combined with herbs such as
rosemary or sage and softened shallots (cooking them in butter or oil for few minutes). The

There are many more such quotes from scriptures all over the world. Yet nowadays, there is just the

continuity or roots. There is a great deal of textual evidence to support this interpretation. Virgil
makes numerous references to the greatness of Rome through ancient prophecies. Clearly, the entire
poem is an account of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two methods allow Virgil to connect his Rome very closely to the story of Aeneas, and give
the Aeneid a great deal of historical credibility in the eyes of his contemporaries.
It was very critical to Virgil that a believable sense of history be achieved in his writing. At the
beginning of Book VI, the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus is introduced when the Trojans
see it carved into the temple doors (lines 21 50). There is a second time in the text that such a
reference to the past is made in a similar fashion. This occurs in Book I when Aeneas observes
the carvings on the walls of Juno s temple at Carthage (lines 619 762). In these two incidents, the
same technique of recalling history is employed. Virgil seems to imply that the best way that he
can describe history is to tell it with the help of the gods, which in this case that would be the
Muse that he has called upon in Book I to assist him (line 13). At the time, the knowledge of the
Muses was considered to be the objective truth while the knowledge of the mortals was
considered to be secondhand and imperfect. The distinction between the two is made with the
story of Daedalus. Virgil gives an elaborate account of what he knows of the event, and then
omits the ending which he does not know: Twice your father tried to shape your fall in gold, but
twice his hands dropped. (Book VI, lines 49 50) By wording the story so that Daedalus does not

Personal Theory
Alfred Adler was born in 1870 in Austria and developed his own theory on Individual Psychology
in 1912. Adler s theory is closely related to Humanistic Psychology. Influenced by Freud, Smuts
and Vaihinger, Adler based his theory on the client s ability to live as a fully functioning adult in
society. Adler s holistic theory views each person as unified. Adler discussed birth order personality
traits. Adler s theory also discussed the roles therapists should take and the techniques that should
be used in Individual Psychology therapy sessions.
A major difference in Adlerian psychology compared to Freudian is the client is viewed as
lacking courage, instead of being mentally ill in Freud s theory. Adler s belief, that a person s
consciousness is the center of their personality differed from Freud s belief. (Wood, 2004). Adler
agreed with Freud that gratification is a central need but Adler goes on to also imply that clients
have needs for power, security, self esteem, achievement and social welfare. Day (2008)
emphasizes that people can decide how to state their needs, but may not be able to be in charge of
their needs.
Furthermore, Adler had different viewpoints regarding

Financial fraud can be broadly defined as an intentional act to deceive individuals/groups using
financial transactions for purpose of personal gain1. Financial fraud involves activities undertaken
by an individual or company that is done in an illegal manner which is designed to give an

Fraud cases can involve complicated financial transactions conducted by white collar criminals
such as business professionals making financial fraud difficult to prevent and catch1. In this

The next case we will look at is considered by some as the greatest corporate fraud in Australian
history, Firepower. Firepower International was a company founded and run by Tim Johnston,
which offered a product called a Firepower Pill 6, which claimed to improve engine efficiency and
reduce emissions when placed into a vehicles engine. Johnston claimed that the fuel pill would
eliminate all poisonous gas emitted from vehicles5.
Tim Johnston convinced investors that he had such a product as well as convince investors that
proof of the product was not necessary5. Later, with the money he had acquired he would sponsor
some of Australia s biggest sports teams to attract more investors as well as to satisfy those still
unconvinced by the product5.
Amazingly Johnston s strategy had worked and by late 2006 reputable people were tipping him
for greatness. Many believed that Johnston was about to tackle one of the world s biggest
problems the global energy crisis. As more reputable people invested in Firepower, this further
increased hype and potential investors were eager to get on board or miss out.
Johnston also surrounded himself with very successful people such as Warren Anderson, one of the
country s best known property developers, as well as a host of others such as Steve Waugh, former
Australian cricket team captain5.

The Float and Fly A Historical and Sporting View
There has been a LOT of talk about the Float and Fly lately in magazines and on regional TV

Reality is that the Float and Fly has been around for years. It was originally a way to catch crappie
in the winter. Fishermen used the rig to fish small jigs and minnows for crappie. The problem was
that in East Tennessee crappie and smallmouth seem to like to inhabit the same areas of the lake
during winter. Winter Crappie fishermen were breaking off a LOT of small jigs thanks too

45. History of the Word Assassin
Words are dynamic, ever changing aspects of our world. The meaning of words grow and
change over time. Many words have evolved over time to take on new forms and identities with
a changing culture. The evolution of our basic vocabulary is bound to evolve and morph into
new meanings. Words that have been around for longer are bound to have a variety of meanings
because they have been used by people for centuries. Words change meaning over a long period
of time due to culture, slang, incorrect usage, and misinterpretation. The word, assassin, much
like other words, has progressed and changed meaning over time. In one way it was used to
describe a person addicted to the narcotics, hash. Secondly, it can be used as its more prevalent
usage currently as a person who is hired to kill. There are many theories about where the word
assassin originated, but the most common is that the word assassin had first originated in about
1080 right before the first crusade. There was a certain fanatical sect of Ismaili Muslims that sent
forth militants during the crusades to kill Christian leaders. While they did this they were said to
be under the influence of hashish, an opiate. One of the primary sources for this account was from
the writings of Marco Polo. As a result, the first literal meaning of the word evolved from the
Arabic word, hashishiyyin or hashishin, and meant hashish eater or hashish user. However, the term
took on a completely different meaning as time went on. As a result

An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley Priestly uses the inspector to represent morality, and how us

influence the conscience of those watching the play. Through employing the inspector as a dramatic
device, Priestly exposes the segregation of the rich and the poor, and the manipulative behaviour
that the rich perform upon the poor regarding the prejudice and abusive exploitation the rich deliver
on those who are less economically fortunate. Priestly also uses the inspector to keep the play

responsibility for Eva s death, and becomes increasing annoyed by the Inspector s questioning. The
fact that the inspector can control people into believing that they re in the wrong could be
interpreted as evidence to suggest that maybe this character is supernatural. The inspector has an
overwhelming presence, and has the habit of staring at the candidate before speaking. This
confidence to disconcert even the most heartlessness of people could come from being
supernatural. The way the inspector treats different people, seems to be decided on how courteous
they are to him. However he never uses rudeness as an excuse to bring his point forward to the

The 1960s was a decade that saw Americans experiment with mind altering drugs, and test the
limits of societal norms and behaviors with respect to what is acceptable and what is not
acceptable. As part of Ken Kesey s participation with drug experimentation, as well as time spent
working at a California mental health facility, Ken Kesey formed the basis for his novel, One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, published in 1962. The book was enormously popular, selling
nine million copies, especially after the award winning movie released in 1975. Even in the face
of all this success, many school districts have voted to ban this book from their curricula. The
reasons for removal have been numerous, but can be summed up by one Ohio school, which said
that the book glorifies criminal activity, has a tendency to corrupt juveniles, and contains
descriptions of bestiality, bizarre violence, and torture, dismemberment, death, and human
elimination (Baldassarro). Although the book contains scenes of brutality and abuse to patients,
as well as racist, profane, and vulgar language, which could be disturbing to some, One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest should be kept in high school curriculum because it questions society s
definition of insanity and shows the importance of expressing one s sexuality in a healthy and
responsible way. The book is set in a mental hospitaland is narrated by Chief Bromden, a Native
American who has repetitive fits of schizophrenia. The ward is run by the

First hand account We Were Soldiers Once...and Young: Ia Drang The Battle That Changed the
War in Vietnam, by Joseph Galloway, tells the story of the courage and hard fighting that
occurred in that valley. This book was made even more popular by the film made after it, We
Were Soldiers. A comparison of leadership, at any time, is difficult to conduct without first hand
knowledge. However, relatable events and occurrences do exist. The process of providing fire
support is one that requires a streamlined process, quick thinking individuals, and ready assets.
The fire support process of today is considerably more streamlined and structured than that of the
Vietnam War. The Army s lessons learned in places like Ia Drang have paved the way for the
tactics, techniques, and procedures used today. However, while the process and assets may be
more streamlined and abundant, today s leadership pales in comparison. A streamlined process is
worth nothing if the gun crews are slow, the Fire Direction Center doesn t check for safety
concerns, and the Fires Effects and Coordination Cell fails to deconflict. Even with the lessons
learned, firing incidents still occur in alarming numbers. From the transposing of grid coordinates,

1)Joseph II of Austria. Joseph II of Austria was emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1765 to
1790, and served as ruler of Habsburg from 1780 to 1790. Joseph strongly emphasized an
enlightened version of absolutism, which gained him much needed support at the time. During his
tenure, Joseph sough truly radical changes in government through Enlightenment ideas. His
commitment to modernizing reforms, although, endangered him and allowed significant opposition
to gain power against him. For that reason, he never fully implemented his plans of absolutism, as
he died without an heir to the throne.
2)Toleration Patent 1781. The Toleration Patent of 1781, also known as the Edict of Toleration,
was an edict that was issued in 1781 by Joseph II of Austria. The edict allowed members of
minority faiths (not of Christianity, for example, Protestant religions) to perform religious practices

This past rainy season there has been numerous floods mainly in southern zimbabwe. Since this
past December, 249 people have died and thousands are homeless. Many of the victims are
waiting for any international or government aid. The president has not sent any form of aid to
the people or hospitals. All he has mentioned so far was that it was a National disaster. This is
not suspicious as there are still many victims of 2014 flood who are still homeless and unable to
go back to normal life due to not receiving aids. In the past, Mugabe has given people aid that did
not benefit them such as a few bread and water or a couple of tshirts. I used situational irony,
hyperbole, understatement and sarcasm I exaggerated how useless his aids are by showing how
him dancing for them is the same as the aid he provides. Also the quote, We have said we will

The Cruel God of Genesis
This essay will propose and support the thesis that God carries the blame for the expulsion of man
from the Garden of Eden and resulting downfall of mankind.
Genesis has always been the cause of heated discussions. The work itself is not all that confusing,
but rather the symbolism buried deep within the text is. The opinions of the reader often have a
substantial influence on the reader s interpretation of the text. Because the scripture has played such
an important role in the theological beliefs of so many Christians, extremely different
interpretations of the text have the potential to create distance between even the closest of friends

Gave usually implies the transfer of possession from one person to another. In all actuality, God was
merely teasing Adam and Eve with the idea of eternal paradise. God knew of the inevitable
original sin and even still he gave Adam and Eve a taste of paradise. If indeed God loved them
as much as he supposedly did, wouldn t he have saved them the torment of having to surrender a
true heaven on earth because they made one little mistake? God knew that by giving man free
will he would also be giving them the opportunity to lose everything that they held dear to them.
Also, if the will bestowed on Adam were so free, why would he have to be subject to the
consequences of his actions? In all actuality, Adam and Eve did have free will; just as long as
they didn t think for themselves and only did what God told them to do. In essence, it is very
much like getting something for free, but still having to pay the tax. In other words, God dropped
the theoretical ball when he came up with his not so free will. The final question that remains is
why? Why did God bring to an end his own creations eternal happiness?
When given just the information presented in Genesis 1 3, the motives behind God s cruel plot are
not quite so obvious. But when consideration is taken for the fact that the entire Bible is, for all
logical reasons, God s plan set in plain ordinary words. All things must come to an end, so the
saying goes. Even the world as we know it will come to an end.

54. Three Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising initiated in China, after the Chinese suffered many
devastating defeats at the hands of foreign powers. Originating in the 1900 s, a secret organisation
called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists, began carrying out attacks on Chinese
Christians and foreigners. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts
fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes.
The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering
humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant
concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the
West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty
stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity
and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that
were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s
balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the
innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . The Chinese
regarded the West as foreign devils , and wished to retain sovereignty and independence. They were
extremely nationalistic. Mark Twain addressed the boxer rebellion in 1900.
