Animal Testing Is Unethical And Unnecessary
Animal testing is a secret most companies don t like to share. It is a global problem that needs to
be put to an end. The use of animal testing is used in medicine, cosmetics and for educational
purposes and it is immoral and unnecessary when we have advanced technologies that can replace
these harmful methods.
PETA. Using Animals for Medical Testing Is Unethical and Unnecessary. Ed. Tamara Thompson.
The Ethics of Medical Testing. Detroit MI: Greenhaven/Gale, Cengage Learning, 2011. 76 82. Print.
This scholarly article s main focus is proving that the use of animals in medical testing is both
unethical and unnecessary by providing evidence and multiple statistics. Its main points are that the
results using of animal testing is very unreliable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have been able to find many helpful sources that have given me a substantial amount of
information related and in connection with my topic. Scholarly sources were harder to come by,
but I was able to find an abundance of non scholarly sources. I think this is due to the fact that
this is a current issue and although finding scholarly data is possible, non scholarly data presents
more in depth and current results that have either not yet been written about or that governmental
associations try to hide from the public. As I further my research, I hope to find more scholarly
sources. I would like to broaden my search terms and maybe try searching for sources in other
databases using the keywords cruelty free as well as further my search in discovering the full
process of animal testing within medical science, cosmetics and in educational facilities and what
laws are in place for animal rights and laws pertaining to experimenting with animals in different
regions. I d also like to find a source that goes in more detail about the alternatives to animal
testing as well. This is something that I really need because it is an important part of my thesis
and paper. I was surprised by the massive numbers of animals that are manipulated, abused and
murdered per year. It was also surprising to me that animals used for testing and experimentation
are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. I feel as if I m just scratching the surface

Alan Greenspan s Term Essay
The article, quot;Greenspan gets another Fed term, quot; in the New York Times discussed Alan
Greenspan s success and failures during his term. The article was fairly easy reading. I found some
statements to be quite amusing however, there were some issues discussed that was a little
ambiguous.
Reading this article, I learned that President Clinton nominated Alan Greenspan to a fourth term as
chairman of the nation s central bank. I had no clue as to what the title of chairman of the nation s
central bank did. However, after reading this article, I had some ideas as to what role chairman of
the nation s central bank plays. Alan Greenspan makes decisions in the S amp; P, NASDAQ, and
DOW Jones markets. Alan Greenspan also approves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he is adored at the moment, all of his fine work could be forgotten if he is unable to
walk the tightrope of maintaining economic growth while keeping inflation low, quot; sounds very
threatening. It sounds like Greenspan better not screw up or else all his success, hard work, and
accomplishments will be well forgotten. In a sense, it is true. Once Alan Greenspan makes a wrong
turn, all hell will break loose and no one will give him the benefit of the doubt. I found this
statement real amusing.
quot;Clearly, the economy is strong and the financial markets have been exceedingly robust. But
the pace that both the economy and the market are moving in are not sustainable long term, quot; is
another statement I found quite amusing, but at the same time a little troubling. My question is,
does this statement boil down to the clichГ©, quot;too much of a good thing is too good to be true.
quot;? The economy and financial markets are at the best it has ever been, which means a downfall
is somewhere in the future.
One paragraph mentioned that the Fed is quot;expected to raise the bench mark federal funds rate,
currently at 5.5%, by one quarter of one percentage point in what would be its fourth interest rate
increase since June 1999. quot; I was really confused with the content of this statement. I found the
wording really hard to comprehend. Finally, I figured out that what this statement was really trying

The Physical Geography of Kalamazoo
The Physical Geography of Kalamazoo
Physical Geography of Michigan Kalamazoo, Michigan has been around officially around since the
eighteen thirties. It has long since a agricultural producer and has been growing steadily throughout
the years as a metropolitan area. This paper will focus on the actual land itself mainly looking at the
geological history, glacial formations, streams, wind landforms, groundwater, climate, soil,
vegetation, agriculture, tourism, and a small summary of the community of the area of
Kalamazoo. For the first paragraph we shall have a quick focus on the geological history of the
area of Kalamazoo. The main deposits and formations of the Kalamazoo area where formed
during the Wisconsin glaciation period. Now the deposits are actually due to two lobes during
this period, the lobes are the Lake Michigan and Saginaw lobe. Kalamazoo is actually know as a
reentrant district due to the presence of two different lobes materials. During the middle of the
Wisconsin Ice Age the Lake Michigan lobe was extending southeastward, while the Saginaw lobe
was extending southwest. With the meeting of the two lobes an interlobate developed between the
terminals of the lobes. It is also thought that the two lobes overlapped each other. With the
Saginaw lobe covering the Kalamazoo area first and then retreating while the Lake Michigan lobe
then covered the area. There are also some bedrock formations in the area as well, these formations

Culture is a way of life inevitably intertwined within all civilizations since the beginning of human
history. Handed down from one generation to the next, culture remains as a perpetually endless
occurrence. Humanity has been involuntarily defining its regions, civilizations, and each its peoples
and the respective geographical locations in which the inhabitants were born. Prosperous and
thriving throughout the centuries, all ways of life continue to grow and develop as multiple factors,
such as climate change, war, natural disasters, politics, and religion come into play. Beliefs, arts, and

Friedrich Froebel and Marie Clay Friedrich August Wilhelm Froebel was born in Oberweissback,
Germany in April 21, 1782 (Ransbury, 1995). He was the sixth child of a Lutheran Minister, but
lost his mother before his first birthday. As a young boy, he played and explored in the gardens
surrounding his home most of the time. His deep love of nature would later influence his
educational philosophy. He did not become educated until age eleven. When he was fifteen years
old, he was apprenticed to a Forester. He then studied at the University of Jena. He accepted a

The occupations were tasks that taught skills useful in later life such as weaving, folding paper,
stringing beads, perforating paper, modeling with clay, lacing cards, follow the dots, and joint and

to God through song, dance, plays, and games. Froebel called his approach to education self
activity and self representation ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000; Ransbury, 1995). Therefore the teacher s
role is as a guide, not a lecturer ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). He was also the first to introduce the
concept of curricula appropriate to a child s developmental level (Woodill,1995).
Froebel designed Kindergarten to children s needs in physical activity, the development of sensory
awareness and physical dexterity, creative expression, exploration of ideas and concepts, the
pleasure of singing, the experience of living among others, and satisfaction of the soul ( Friedrich
Froebel , 2000). Until his death in 1852, he was devoted to making Kindergarten known. The
German immigrants brought the idea of Kindergarten to the United States in the nineteenth century.

The Gender of Sports Essay
The Gender of Sports
What are the social and cultural costs and benefits of an individual (male or female) entering a non
traditional sport for their gender/sex (e.g. women enter body building, power lifting, boxing; men
enter synchronized swimming or field hockey)?
In today s society, particularly in the United States, an individual entering a non traditional sport for
his/her gender takes on many tasks besides playing the sport, the individual also takes on the
criticism (good or bad) of people who play the sport and those who watch it too. There are many
social and cultural costs as well as benefits, but to what extent mostly depends on the sport and the
sex of the player.
The biggest thing that creates a social and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So even before the league started, someone felt that he/she had to prove that not all aggressive
female athletes are gay. It s funny, but in a sad way, that women have to prove their sexual identity,
but the men s are never questioned.
The social and cultural costs of this intermingling of sexes starts with the genders that are tied to
each sport, which then puts the individual s sexuality at question. If a woman enters a male sport
she will be considered a lesbian and if a male entered a woman sport then he would be tagged
with a gay identity. The player now has two jobs, succeed at the game and prove their sexuality,
just like what the commercials were doing for the WNBA, proving the maternity of the players.
Also, if an individual is of a different race or social class, then people tend to attack that side of
the person. For example, some might say that the only reason why a person is good is because
of their color or the only reason why someone has the opportunity is because he/she came from a
wealthy background. Many people in today s society will find anything about someone to attack
them and prove that what that individual is doing is wrong and bad for society and/or for the
sport and apply labels to them. These labels lead to harassment and when it is not dealt with
appropriately it can contribute to many social crises . It may interfere with and affect an individual
s physical and emotional health, which will lead

Deep Brain Stimulation Research Paper
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a neurosurgical procedure introduced in 1987, involving the
implantation of a medical device called a neurostimulator (sometimes referred to as a brain
pacemaker), which sends electrical impulses, through implanted electrodes, to specific targets in the
brain for the treatment of movement and neuropsychiatric disorders. Deep Brain Stimulation is a
brain surgery performed to improve a patient s quality of life. The procedure is not a cure, but it can
significantly improve otherwise debilitating symptoms caused by certain neurological disorders.

patients must have tried medications and other therapies and not responded... Show more content on

It has changed 100,000 s of life s drastically. Leadpoint Focus is a microelectrode recording
(MER) system for DBS procedures. The next generation technology combines performance,
recording, customizable functionality, and ease of use. Leadpoint Focus offers: Reliable
performance that increases physiological localization and improves decision making confidence,
easy to use modular design with plug and play operation, and clinical research capabilities in
advanced signal recording and processing. Besides these goals, brain stimulation is already so
advanced that scientist mainly shoot for just improving the accuracy of it. Another type of brain
stimulation is Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) uses an electric current to treat serious mental
disorders. This type of therapy is usually considered only if a patient s illness has not improved
after other treatments (such as antidepressant medication or psychotherapy) are tried, or in cases
where rapid response is needed (as in the case of suicide risk and catatonia, for example).
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to
stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. TMS is typically used
when other depression treatments haven t been working. It works like this, during a TMS session,
an electromagnetic coil is placed against your scalp near your forehead. The electromagnet
painlessly delivers a magnetic pulse that stimulates nerve cells in the region of your brain involved
in mood control and depression. And it may activate regions of the brain that have decreased
activity in people with depression. This is another form of brain stimulation that helps change many
people s lives. As I mentioned before it is to help people that go through depression. Brain
stimulation is a very useful method, but many don t know that there is different types. There is agus

Parasympathetic And Sympathetic Nervous System Analysis
INTRODUCTION
Within vertebrates, heart rate is established by the sinoatrial (SA) node of the heart. This is
achieved through a series of action potentials which drives excitation of cardiac muscles and
establishes a rhythmic pace (Fritz et al., 2011). However, there are numerous factors that can affect
the SA nodes impact on heart rate, which are primarily related to the autonomic nervous system.
The autonomic nervous system is responsible for the regulation of involuntary functions, and is
broken up into the parasympathetic (PSNS) and sympathetic nervous systems (SNS). The SNS is
most commonly referred to as an organism s fight or flight response, in which its activation is
generally in response to stress, and results in a preparation

Pip s Internal Pacifist Struggles Essay
Dickens introduced Pip as a child, an element essential to the understanding of Pip s internal
moralistic struggles. The establishment of young Pip makes the audience view Pip as an
innocent and honest person. Children are often deemed to be more honest and simple than
adults. When Pip first encounters the convict, the appearance of him scares Pip out of his mind.
The man threatens Pip to bring him a few items otherwise he will go after his family. He also
tells Pip to not tell a soul about him or he will be hurt as well. What Pip fails to realize is that the
convict is cold, as he has been soaked in water (10), and hungry, which was made clear when he
ate the bread ravenously (11). Not only that, the convict can barely walk correctly since he has a
limp. Putting all of it together, the convict is in no shape to be chasing after Pip and his family
to harm them. Because Pip is an innocent child, he cannot put those clues together and obeys the
convict out of fear anyway. Pip has had a strong sense of morals since a young age. After the
incident with the man in the marshes, the guilt of the idea of lying to Joe, his step brother who
has always treated him with affection, bites his conscience. Pip refers stealing from Joe, and Mrs.
Joe, his sister, a guilty knowledge (19). It shows that Pip does not like stealing from them, no
matter how badly Mrs. Joe treats him and his moralistic standards. He got the job done and brought
the requested items to the man. Once he got

Abstract
Fifty years ago, the concept of social media, cell phones, and the Internet was just being
developed. Today, these types of technology are being utilized in all aspects of life. About 40% of
the world s population has access to the Internet that is roughly 3.1 million people (Internet Live
States). With so many users able to access the Internet, social media is becoming a popular feature
among enterprise ecommerce project teams. In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of
effective project teams; the use of virtual teams within electronic commerce projects, and the affects
social media has on electronic commerce project teams. The purpose of this report is to encourage
the use of social media within electronic commerce project teams while maintaining the
characteristics of an effective project team.

This chapter is about the software language and the tools used in the development of the project.
The platform used here is .NET. The Primary languages are C#, VB, and J#. In this project C# is

.NET is a set of Microsoft software technologies for rapidly building and integrating XML Web
services, Microsoft Windows based applications, and Web solutions. THE .NET FRAMEWORK
The .NET Framework has two main parts: 1. The Common Language Runtime (CLR). 2. A
hierarchical set of class libraries. 5.2.3 MANAGE CODE MANAGED CODE is a meta data. This

There are also efficient means of converting value types to object types if and when necessary.
The set of classes is pretty comprehensive, providing collections, file, screen, and network I/O,
threading, and so on, as well as XML and database connectivity. The class library has a number
of namespaces, having different functionalities, with minimum dependency between them.
LANGUAGES SUPPORTED BY .NET The multi language capability of the .NET Framework
and Visual Studio .NET enables developers to use their existing programming skills to build all
types of applications and XML Web services. The .NET framework supports new versions of
Microsoft s old favorites Visual Basic and C++ (as VB.NET and Managed C++), but there are
also a number of new additions to the family. Managed Extensions for C++ and attributed
programming are just some of the enhancements made to the C++ language. Managed
Extensions simplify the task of migrating existing C++ applications to the new .NET
Framework. C# is Microsoft s new language. It s a C style language that is essentially C++ for
Rapid Application Development . Unlike other languages, its specification is just the grammar of
the language. It has no standard library of its own, and instead has been designed with the
intention of using the .NET libraries as its own. Microsoft Visual J# .NET provides the easiest

a Saturday morning children s show. Although he had very little experience with puppets, he

class and began helping many classmates with their work (Andres).
Jim was not deterred after The Junior Good Morning Show was canceled. He remained persistent

The Similarities Of Films Who Does Not Love A Great...
Cody Gilroy
Intro to Cinema
Professor Lee
December 6, 2016
The Similarities of Films Who does not love a great comedy film. I know that comedy is my
favorite genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will
Ferrell. In some people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrelljust so happen to be in a
comedy partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are
three films that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron
Burgundy, and Step Brothers.
ДЂAdam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a
partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate
for children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times
have changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I
said I had no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these
movies. Adam s films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the
main character in most of McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films

Impact Of Technology On The Classroom
Reflection
Technology helps students in the learning procedure altering the way learning is conveyed.
Presently learning has turned into a customized and significant experience that addresses learners
issues as contradicted to conventional instructor focused and content based training that places
essential accentuation on passing on settled assortments of data and survey students as latent
beneficiaries of learning. Henceforth, regardless of their own disparities, inclinations and histories,
technology convey individualized substance at the time and place students select (e learning and
portable adapting) in this manner, taking so as to expand their learning spaces learning out of the
classroom (Domalewska, 2014). I had the opportunity to observe and design a technology checklist
to aid in evaluating the technology in the classroom. The technology list brought awareness to the
use of technology in a classroom setting. The first class I observed did a great job with following
all parts of the technology list. One could indicate that Ms. Lockhart has train her students on the
importance and use of technology. I thought her students were attentive and produce effectiveness
utilization of technology. In addition, I like how the small group transition flowed truly well with
the students. They knew what was expected and delivered. The second class I observed presented
the use of technology in a different form.

Case Studies On Market Based Management
Entrepreneurship Organization Management
Abstract
General monetary thinking impressively impacts Market Based Management (MBM). Opportunity

White Christianity In Ephesians
When black slaves were brought from Africa over to the New World, they were ripped away from
their cultures, customs, and religion. Most slaves would later become Christians due to colonialist
ideology, but the problem with this was that christianized slaves posed a threat to slave systems.
Christianity taught blacks to see themselves as equals to their white counterparts in the eyes of
God, therefore in the church, blacks began to question the Christian hierarchy imposed by
protestant preachers which stated that slaves were bound to obey their masters. White Christians
justified their rights to enslave blacks with biblical verses such as those found in Ephesians:

Process Flow Diagram
Case Questions
1.How long will it take you to fill a rush order?
Time taken to fill a rush order= MLT = 6 + 2 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 1 = 26 minutes
2.How many orders can you fill in a night, assuming you are open four hours each night?
4 hours per each night= 4 hours * 60 minutes = 240 minutes
Cycle Time= The Duration of the bottleneck = (Setting thermostat and Timer) + (Baking Cookies) =
1 minute + 9 minute = 10 minutes
Maximum no of orders we can fill in a night= (No of minutes per night Duration of First Setup)

For example, is there a bottleneck operation in your production process that you can expand
cheaply? What is the effect of adding another oven? How much would you be willing to pay to rent
an additional oven?
Assuming
1 order, only 1 dozen cookie
Second order comes in while person is making first batch
Assuming that we add another oven, the cycle time of the ovens would be 5 minutes. The new
bottleneck for the entire process would now be that of mixing the ingredients and dishing the
cookies onto the tray, a process which takes 8 minutes for 1 batch of cookies.
New cycle time= 8 minutes
Maximum no of orders we can fill in a night= (No of minutes per night Duration of First Setup)
/ Cycle Time + 1 = ((240 26) / 8) + 1 = 27.75 orders ~ 27 orders
Therefore, we would only be willing to pay at the most, (27 22) orders worth of rent, which = 5 *
(2.00 + 0.70) = $13.50 per day.
Problems for further thought
1.What happens if you are trying to do this by yourself without a roommate?
Looking at the diagram, from time (23 to 25), I will be involved in the packing of cookies for the
first batch. However, I will also be involved in the mixing of ingredients for the third batch. It is not

Sexism In Pygmalion
Pygmalion in Greek mythology was a Cypriot sculptor who constructed a woman out of ivory and
named her Galatea. According to Ovid s translation, after seeing the Propoetides prostituting
themselves in public for their defiance against the gods, he became uninterested in women;
however his statue was so beautiful and realistic that he fell in love with it. After a short time,
Aphrodite s festival day came, and Pygmalionmade several offerings at the shrine of Aphrodite.
Pygmalion was too scared to admit his true desire at the altar, so he quietly wished for a bride
who would be the living likeness of my ivory girl . When he returned home, he kissed his Galatea,
and found that the statue s lips felt warm. He kissed it again and found that... Show more content on

The author shows his feminist side as he has Eliza stand up for her self and break out of the
traditional position of women in the era. This brings a very feminist, free thinking theme to the
play that challenges the audience to break the usual traditions of England s segregated, unofficial
caste system of a society. In Shaw s display against inequality and sexism, there is another theme
that must be kept in mind. When thinking about how to achieve equality between the sexes, it
has to be taken into consideration that true equality does not necessarily come from being treated
equally. In order for equality to be achieved, we must feel equal to one another. This feeling
comes from making the effort to meet the needs of all people so that they can reach a point in life
where they feel dignified, and feel as though they have the ability and the will power to work to
raise themselves up in society.
The amount of character development in Pygmalion, the characters help to make the play seem
more realistic and interesting due to each character s complex and individual personality. Each one
contributes to the play s over all message in a different way. For example, Professor

The Pacific Bluefin Tuna Is An Valuable Valued Specie

commercial fishers began capturing them by the thousands (The IUCN Red List, 2014). The

Overfishing is a problem because Bluefin Tuna is responsible for keeping population numbers in
check, thus creating detrimental effects if the biodiversity were to be threaten and the ecosystem
were to become imbalanced. Furthermore, the Bluefin Tuna have fallen victim to becoming
targeted and non targeted species by fisherman. Purse seine fishing is the number one fishing
method used to catch the Tuna. However, long line fishing also poses as a threat because they are
unintentionally caught in by catches, creating an unnecessary waste. In addition, studies
demonstrate that Japan has the largest number of catches. Japan s economy has the most to loose if
they do not protect their valued specie. They have made little efforts for change and the ISC
concluded that current levels of fishing have now become unsustainable. It has been concluded that
this stock will continue to decline in 2018 (Nickson, 2018). This specie has fallen a tragedy of the
commons model due to individuals trying to gain the greatest benefit, without realizing what the
long term effects would be when the demands of the resource overwhelms the supply. This will hurt
the well being of multiple societies, and most important, the well being of the Bluefin Tuna. The
ISC stated that these species need new management plans to ensure it s sustainability. With
conservation efforts of the IATTC and WCPFC, there will be a plan for rebuilding spawning
populations, placing a

How do cyclones occur or form?
For a cyclone to develop its form, stages take place for this natural hazard to occur:
Stage zero The temperature of the ocean/sea has to be 26.5В°C or over, during this stage a low
pressure system starts to gather clouds and become very stormy. Continuous cloud build up occurs,

The Greatest Successful Child Stars Essay

stars in recent history. A product of Disney, Cyrus would not also be one of the most popular
current celebrities if she had not drastically altered her star text to stay relevant. Her brand
management provides exceptional insight into the continuous battle of sustaining a career as a

The Current Standing Of The U.s. Economy
Tracking the U.S Economy
Jessica Findish
Jacksonville University
Executive Summary In this paper, you will read about the current standing of the U.S. economy as
of spring and summer for 2015. Gross Domestic Product (GDP), unemployment rate, inflation rate,
foreign trade, consumer spending, business investment, and government spending will all be
analyzed. This analysis will then lead to the projection of the U.S. economy for the first two

ensconced with self doubt and fear; fear of what the future may entail and doubts of our ability to
meet our dreams. Faced with these thoughts I questioned my potential, what if my best wasn t

Employment Issues And Employment Contracts
Employment Issues Employment Contracts: Awards: An award is a legal document that specifies
the basic set of entitlements[1] and minimum employment standards that an employee will be
provided with. They also can include the terms and conditions of employment. Most awards in
public sectors refer to the National Employment Standards as well as some other basic
entitlements. Awards are generally common for all companies in a particular sector However the
private sector, managers and high income workers (113800+)[2] can have different awards but

All the terms and conditions in the contract must be favourable to the employee otherwise it can
not be passed. Does not have to be formal to pass, can be verbal or written Can not have if there
is already an enterprise agreement in place, but can switch a common law contract with an award
to renegotiate their terms and conditions of employment. However after it has been passed, the
employee will not be award protected. Employment Contracts Advantages Disadvantages Awards
Awards are an advantage for most employees as it legally protects them from any malpractices
and provides them with entitlements which all employers must adhere by. It also means that
employers can not alter anything that can disadvantage a particular employee. An employer can
also specify the terms and conditions by which his employee has to work. It allows for
negotiation of terms and conditions after wage exceeds 100 000 and employee wishes to opt out,
as they can now get a common law contract. It means that even if an employee is not working hard
enough or the employer wants them to work harder by doing something negative to them, eg. wage
reduction, they are legally not allowed to. It also restricts employers in what they can do with their
employees. They can not be negotiated between employer and employee as they are common in
between all companies in certain industries. The Enterprise Agreements They legally protect the
employee against most

  • 2. Animal Testing Is Unethical And Unnecessary Animal testing is a secret most companies don t like to share. It is a global problem that needs to be put to an end. The use of animal testing is used in medicine, cosmetics and for educational purposes and it is immoral and unnecessary when we have advanced technologies that can replace these harmful methods. PETA. Using Animals for Medical Testing Is Unethical and Unnecessary. Ed. Tamara Thompson. The Ethics of Medical Testing. Detroit MI: Greenhaven/Gale, Cengage Learning, 2011. 76 82. Print. This scholarly article s main focus is proving that the use of animals in medical testing is both unethical and unnecessary by providing evidence and multiple statistics. Its main points are that the results using of animal testing is very unreliable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been able to find many helpful sources that have given me a substantial amount of information related and in connection with my topic. Scholarly sources were harder to come by, but I was able to find an abundance of non scholarly sources. I think this is due to the fact that this is a current issue and although finding scholarly data is possible, non scholarly data presents more in depth and current results that have either not yet been written about or that governmental associations try to hide from the public. As I further my research, I hope to find more scholarly sources. I would like to broaden my search terms and maybe try searching for sources in other databases using the keywords cruelty free as well as further my search in discovering the full process of animal testing within medical science, cosmetics and in educational facilities and what laws are in place for animal rights and laws pertaining to experimenting with animals in different regions. I d also like to find a source that goes in more detail about the alternatives to animal testing as well. This is something that I really need because it is an important part of my thesis and paper. I was surprised by the massive numbers of animals that are manipulated, abused and murdered per year. It was also surprising to me that animals used for testing and experimentation are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. I feel as if I m just scratching the surface ... • 3. Alan Greenspan s Term Essay The article, quot;Greenspan gets another Fed term, quot; in the New York Times discussed Alan Greenspan s success and failures during his term. The article was fairly easy reading. I found some statements to be quite amusing however, there were some issues discussed that was a little ambiguous. Reading this article, I learned that President Clinton nominated Alan Greenspan to a fourth term as chairman of the nation s central bank. I had no clue as to what the title of chairman of the nation s central bank did. However, after reading this article, I had some ideas as to what role chairman of the nation s central bank plays. Although he is adored at the moment, all of his fine work could be forgotten if he is unable to walk the tightrope of maintaining economic growth while keeping inflation low, quot; sounds very threatening. It sounds like Greenspan better not screw up or else all his success, hard work, and accomplishments will be well forgotten. In a sense, it is true. Once Alan Greenspan makes a wrong turn, all hell will break loose and no one will give him the benefit of the doubt. I found this statement real amusing. quot;Clearly, the economy is strong and the financial markets have been exceedingly robust. But the pace that both the economy and the market are moving in are not sustainable long term, quot; is another statement I found quite amusing, but at the same time a little troubling. My question is, does this statement boil down to the clichГ©, quot;too much of a good thing is too good to be true. quot;? The economy and financial markets are at the best it has ever been, which means a downfall is somewhere in the future. One paragraph mentioned that the Fed is quot;expected to raise the bench mark federal funds rate, currently at 5.5%, by one quarter of one percentage point in what would be its fourth interest rate increase since June 1999. quot; I was really confused with the content of this statement. It s funny, but in a sad way, that women have to prove their sexual identity, but the men s are never questioned. The social and cultural costs of this intermingling of sexes starts with the genders that are tied to each sport, which then puts the individual s sexuality at question. If a woman enters a male sport she will be considered a lesbian and if a male entered a woman sport then he would be tagged with a gay identity. The player now has two jobs, succeed at the game and prove their sexuality, just like what the commercials were doing for the WNBA, proving the maternity of the players. Also, if an individual is of a different race or social class, then people tend to attack that side of the person. For example, some might say that the only reason why a person is good is because of their color or the only reason why someone has the opportunity is because he/she came from a wealthy background. Many people in today s society will find anything about someone to attack them and prove that what that individual is doing is wrong and bad for society and/or for the sport and apply labels to them. These labels lead to harassment and when it is not dealt with appropriately it can contribute to many social crises . The establishment of young Pip makes the audience view Pip as an innocent and honest person. Children are often deemed to be more honest and simple than adults. When Pip first encounters the convict, the appearance of him scares Pip out of his mind. The man threatens Pip to bring him a few items otherwise he will go after his family. He also tells Pip to not tell a soul about him or he will be hurt as well. What Pip fails to realize is that the convict is cold, as he has been soaked in water (10), and hungry, which was made clear when he ate the bread ravenously (11). Will Ferrell plays the main character in most of McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films that I have chosen. So it may that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Furthermore, the Bluefin Tuna have fallen victim to becoming targeted and non targeted species by fisherman. Purse seine fishing is the number one fishing method used to catch the Tuna. However, long line fishing also poses as a threat because they are unintentionally caught in by catches, creating an unnecessary waste. In addition, studies demonstrate that Japan has the largest number of catches. Japan s economy has the most to loose if they do not protect their valued specie. A product of Disney, Cyrus would not also be one of the most popular current celebrities if she had not drastically altered her star text to stay relevant.
