An Annotated Bibliography is:
• AN ORGANIZED LIST OF CITATIONS
• books, articles, websites
• EACH CITATION IS FOLLOWED BY A BRIEF
ANNOTATION (USUALLY 100- 1 50 WORDS)
• THE ANNOTATIONS ARE BOTH DESCRIPTIVE AND
EVALUATIVE
Annotated Bibliography Example- Teaching American History www.tahvt.org
Think of it as:
Bibliography An-‘note’-tated
 We all have written a
Bibliography or Works
Cited page at the end of
a research paper. (It
lists all the sources that
we used in our paper)
 An Annotated
Bibliography, often done
at the beginning of our
research, means that we
must add a description of
our source as well as an
evaluation of the source
(basically what we think
about it and how we
might use it in our
research)
