The School Of A Charter School
Being in a charter school, the academic school day is much different than in a public school. My CT,
has to have her lesson plan turned in and approved at least 2 weeks prior to the lesson. There is no
room for error, let alone the students not understanding any lesson. If a lesson is taught on a Monday,
the classroom will be moving on to the next lesson on Tuesday, regardless if the students understand
the lesson or not. There is also no differentiation in the classroom. All of the students are given the
same materials, lessons and the same amount of help. There are students with IEP s and students with
their English at basic proficiency levels. The only time that instruction is differentiated is when one
specific student struggles with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The students should be instructed to use scaffolding and the teacher should be able to gage when the
students are starting to understand the information and send the individuals to their seats as she sees
fit.
When it comes to differentiated instruction, there is none. When it comes to the student whose L1 is
not English, she is stuck guessing on many of their assessments. Many times, the language of the test
is content specific academic language, which is much more difficult for the individual to understand.
This could easily be adjusted by, making sure the student is taught the specific language throughout
the lesson and unit. Another course of action would be to differentiate the assessment by adjusting the
language so that the L2 is comprehensible to the student.
Language Allocation in Classroom Within the Spanish speaking community at this charter school,
there is little to no L1 used during the school day. The students instruction does now allow for the
individuals L1 to be used. Occasionally, when the students are not having a silent lunch or when they
are given recess, there will be murmurs in the students L1. Aside from the occasional conversations
during recess or lunch time, the students do not speak in their native language at school. The teacher

Jules Ferry Imperialism
Jules Ferry was a French politician who served two times as a Prime Minister during the Third
Republic. Third Republic was the name of the French government for nearly 69 years from 1871 to
1940. Jules Ferry was known as the passionate imperialist. During his time as the Prime Minister,
occupied Tunisia, some parts of Indochina and he also started exploring certain parts of Africa. In his
speech, Ferry is urging the French Parliament to expand the borders in order to increase the economic
and political as well as the military power of France as other countries began to export more goods
than France. Therefore if they had more colonies they set up more so that they could send more of
their goods out of the country. Jules Ferry believed that France should push its politics onto less
developed countries with the goal of increasing revenue and becoming economically powerful. What
made it urgent for France to have colonies are the recent events in the world trade in order to broaden
their own trade lines. In the text Ferry states, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ideological arguments raised about imperialism by the Ferry critics is that if the French Prime
Minister adds colonies to his country, that it would also increase the possibilities of other countries
getting involved with politics as well as military involvements. Ferry counters his critics by saying In
Europe such as it is today, in this competition of the many rivals we see rising up around us, some by
military or naval improvements, others by the prodigious development of a constantly growing
population; in a Europe, or rather in a universe thus constituted, a policy of withdrawal or abstention is
simply the high road to decadence! (Ferry, 1884). What Ferry meant is that if France does not develop
colonies in order to better their military and trade, France could possibly be rivaled by its neighboring

Optical Fiber Sensors Essay
Optical fiber sensors are very important devices to detect and monitor ionizing radiation in nuclear
based technologies such as industrial radiography, nuclear medicine, spacecraft and satellite
instrumentation, and also in nuclear power facilities. Reliability of other conventional radiation
detectors in space and terrestrial application is much affected by electromagnetic interference and
exposure to fire and explosion potential hazards. However the functionality of optical fiber at
extremely high dose radiation still a challenge where radiation induced attenuation can be increased
for permanent damage of the sensor. There is a need to develop a new sensing material with small

2013). There is a need to replace 3H based sensor to detect neutron in context of nuclear
nonproliferation(Runkle 2011) and silica optical fiber with better resistant to radiation damage (Xue et
al. 2012) is the other very close a safe cheaper possible neutron sensor to be considered. In addition,
its other characteristic of having low attenuation losses provides a wide bandwidth for long distance
wireless communication so that the exposure of radiation to workers can be avoided during radiation
detection and monitoring operation.
Ionizing radiation such as x ray, gamma, alpha, beta and neutron radiations, are not only harmful to
human health(Azzam et al. 2012) and environment(Mothersill Seymour 2014), but also can damage
the electronic devices(Wang et al. 2014). The source of these ionizing radiations are from radioactive
materials, x ray tubes, particle accelerators such as ion beams, nuclear weapons and reactors, cosmic
rays from space and from natural rocks and minerals. Exposure of extremely high energy
electromagnetic radiation such as x ray can lead to failure in silicon sensors(Klanner et al. 2013). The
increasing radiation induced attenuation can lead to permanent damage of optical fiber(Kovačević et
al. 2013). So there is a need to develop better sensors with good radiation resistance such as Ge doped
optical fiber sensors in radiant environment.
SiO2 and plastic type optical fiber are two types of material used in any research and development of

Then you have management employees like myself that are forced to accept changes with nothing we
can do about it, which has brought about a sense of unfairness. The feeling of unfairness has led to
people not putting their all into their jobs creating a very laid back and non sense of emergency
attitude in certain groups and areas of the company. In areas like the control center employees have no
choice but to be alert, responsive and vigilant seeing as people s lives are at risk if they fail to do their
job properly. The corporate offices where a lot the IT, administrative, finances departments etc. are
where I feel the employees to be slack. This type of attitude I believe is slowing down productivity
across the board and a lot of things seem to be delayed.
Problem statement
I think the majority of employees at ConEd are dissatisfied with their jobs and the organization s
leadership. This is leading to low levels of performance which in turn is also making the organization
very laid back and not fulfilling enough for employees that are really trying to get ahead and be
rewarded for their efforts. Union workers who have contracts in place, have people fighting for them
behind the scenes and are getting everything they want for doing less work while being managed by

Managing And Securing Unstructured Data
With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of information
generated and shared in social networking sites and across various industries. This has led to storing
and access issues with regards to unstructured data.
Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying to handle it. In
simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be stored in the form of rows and
columns. It can be anything including email files, text documents, presentations, image and video
files.
Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1 ZB = 1 billion
TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is unstructured and ... Show more

Also backup and restore will take a lesser time
Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the size of databases
which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these databases and can cause performance
issues with I/O subsystems
The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual links between
database and external file system files which can potentially go out of sync. Also since data is stored
outside the system the backups are not consistent and unstructured data is not a part of the transaction.
Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above, another method
was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to support a new data type filestream .
Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document
framework with the referential integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database
engine. In SQL Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the
information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information in the document
framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are under database transactional
consistency. By carrying out research with different datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and
filestream data type approach is faster

Rahab Prostitute
Rahab is a speed bump within Joshua 2 for three main reasons. First of all: she is a prostitute, and
likely a debt prostitute. Secondly, she knows a lot more about Jericho s security than it seems that she
should, as well as being a good liar. Thirdly, she is a traitor to her own people. Rahab is likely a
successful prostitute, as she lives within the city walls, but being a prostitute, she cannot live much
farther in than the outskirts of the city walls. It is likely that Rahab got into prostitution to pay off her
family s debt, or as a debt slave. (CD, 11/13)
Rahab understood how to lie to the king in such a way that he believed her and in a way that allowed
her to throw the king and his men off track in their search for the spies. ... Show more content on

Rahab is a Canaanite who is supposed to be completely destroyed when the conquering forces enter
Jericho, but instead she shows cunning and initiative by saving the spies from being found during their
mission and entering into a deal with them in exchange for the lives of herself and her family. She
exalts the Israelite s God, stating that the Lord your God is indeed God in heaven above and on earth
below. (Josh 2:11) This shows that she is willing to devote her life to God in order to survive. It is
possible that this devotion is in spite of what she believes, rather than a full conversion, but Rahab is
willing to commit to it in order to survive in the new society when the Israelites conquer her city. We
know that this strategy works because Rahab is mentioned later in the Bible, including in the
genealogy of Matthew. (Matt.

Theme Of Redemption
Redemption song by Bob Marley
Redemption song is a song written by Bob Marley in the 1979, just before He succumbed to cancer in
the 1980. It is an art well structured to pass a message of freedom to the Black Americans. The black
Americans found themselves in the west due to the cross Atlantic trade which took place in the 18th
century. Cross Atlantic trade involved slave trade. As found in the first stanza of this song, the old
pirates sold I to the merchant s ship . The west being a foreign land in which their existence was due
to slave trade, they faced oppression from their masters and had no freedom. According to the
International Society for Theoretical Psychology Conference (1999), freedom is highly prized in
humans and people would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though slave trade had ended more than hundred years during this recording, the history of the cruelty
their ancestors faced was still in their minds. Neither was the quality of their life good, as they wanted.
Issues of racism and discrimination were still evident. It reached a time when their hope anchored in
religious beliefs as in (Persons 141) king Jesus would deliver them from racial oppression. In the
redemption song, stanza 2 and 3 line one is carrying a very heavy message to the then blacks. Bob
settles to them being the solution to what they were going through. He goes deeper into putting their
situation as mental slavery as he says emancipate yourself from mental slavery; None but ourselves
can free our mind . Unknowingly, Bob was singing this song to all people even to this day. Some
people are slaves as others control them on how to live their lives. He makes freedom a personal
responsibility and narrows slavery down to the activity of the mind. To get out of the mental slavery,
free yourselves from mental slavery is what he tells

Classroom Inequality In Schools
Inequality is a constant issue in our world today in social and job settings. Many people across the
world have very strong feelings about inequality and it is becoming an important issue. What some
people do not realize is that inequality has entered schools. In all schools there are different teaching
and class levels, and many students are not getting an equal opportunity in order to be successful in
the future. In some cases, this is due to money problems; but in other cases it might just be the school
and how it is run. Understandably, schools can not guide every student towards success; however all
students around the world are not given equal classroom opportunities in order to be successful in
their future.
Classroom opportunities are different all around the world and schools differ in the level of the classes
that are taught. Obviously, the schools in the United States do not get all the same classes as schools in
Europe. There are some schools in the world that do not let students take the type of classes that is in
the appropriate level or subject for their future. Fremont High, a school in California, is one of these
schools. One student was required to take a sewing class when she wanted to take an AP class.
(Kozol). AP classes and sewing or hairdressing classes do not even come close to comparing level
wise. Obviously, this student is being held back because her school pushed her to take a class that is
not equal to the level she could have been in. Not

Discrimination In Health And Social Care Essay
The discrimination is based on ageism. Ageism means when someone discriminates a person
according to their age. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her
and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the
carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end
of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could
make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant
towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. It lowers her confidence making
her feel worthless and unwanted just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the carer isn t aware of what the old lady needs or wants. Whenever she asks for
something, the carer s would refuse, such as when the old patient chose from the food menu to eat
vegetarian food as she dislikes fish or meaty products, (vegetarian) the carer didn t give her any other
option apart from eating meat which the old lady doesn t prefer as her right to choice was taken away.
This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to
her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since
maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient
personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her
points and rights. Her short term will be affected as she will feel scared and threatened from the care
workers as she may think that they would control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or
tell anyone. So this reinforces how her rights are very low and limited. This will affect her intellectual
development because since her rights aren t being heard, she will give up trying and would consider
herself unintelligent and

Competitive Advantages Of A Competitive Company
Competitive advantages must identifying a specific target audience with a clearly need, developing
and delivering a high quality of products and services in appropriately priced to be the best than
anybody else. But what are the elements of a competitive company? Here are some factors that helps
the organization to become a competitor in market.
1. Cost leadership:
It is a business strategy that allows a company to lowest cost production in an industry. There are two
options in businesses to improve profits, increasing or decreasing costs. This strategy focuses on
acquiring a highest raw materials at lowest price then change them into valuable consumer goods.
Low cost leadership often leads to increases in market share.

This is the key to achieving competitive advantage for your business.
6. Encourage workers to talk with their leader:
Especially about their problems. Employees feel safe when they speak or ask for a help from their
leader rather than to feel fearful, this will leads to better performance outcomes. Feeling safe in the
workplace supports the spirit of experimentation for new innovations. Kamal (2015) shown that
empowerment, when coupled with good training and teamwork, leads to superior performance
outcomes whereas a range of efficient manufacturing and operations practices do not . (Kamal, 2015)
A positive workplace is the best successful place over the time because its well being and increases
positive emotions. In turn, it amplifies people s ability and creativity and improve their relationship
with other co workers. Also it improving employee s ability to attack challenges and difficulties while
boosting their health. This make the employees more loyal to the organizations and the leader as well
as bringing out their best strengths.
According to Lewin s (1958) theory there are three clearest and simplest steps models about change
management. First step is unfreeze people always need to understand why things should done in
another ways. The process of unfreezing is sensitive culture, which means explaining why the

The Role Of Clenbuterol As An Bangladeshi Aid
Abstract:
There are many illicit drugs being used nowadays by athletes to enhance their physical performance in
the sports they are engaged in. The use of such energy enhancing drugs is increasing day by day and
that has given rise to the need of taking a look over various aspects of that drug and figuring out the
legal and ethical aspects related with the use of that drug. One such drug which is nowadays becoming
popular is Clenbuterol. In this study we investigate the role of Clenbuterol as an ergogenic aid. We

Hennessey Venom Swot Analysis
A car to a normal person will get you from point A to point B and not think anything different. To
other individuals, a car is actually a part of its owner. They treat it as part of the family. These
individuals will take their pride and joy and manipulate their automobile to get the most out of it. This
could be just for looks or for performance. One of the most important things to a car junkie looks for
is speed. Since the day the automobile was created, individuals kept pushing the limits of how fast
they could go. The Model T when it was invented had a top speed between 40 45 MPH back in 1919.
These days, individuals have been able to slightly improve upon those numbers. In 2014, a Hennessey

Graffiti Is A Beautiful Crime Linda Ngo Summary
A Rhetorical Reading Response: Graffiti is a Beautiful Crime Linda Ngo, author of the opinion piece
Graffiti is a Beautiful Crime (2017), argues that graffiti should be legalized on grounds that it is an
artistic expression of free speech. Ngo uses many comparisons between graffiti, which she claims is
harmless, to many legal activities that cause people harm. Her purpose in writing this paper is to
establish a legal form of graffiti to protect graffiti artists from legal action. Ngo s target audience for
this paper is peers who may have different views on graffiti and its purpose. This paper contained
many flawed arguments that frustrated me. The question How could beautiful quotes and images

If the person wants the graffiti on their building, it is not vandalism and is already legal. Ngo also
compares alcohol and tobacco use to graffiti. This is a weak argument because a person chooses to
consume the substances and suffer their own personal consequences. A graffiti artist chooses another
person s property and inflicts damage to it. Freedom of speech is a protected right we have as
Americans, but it does not and should not extend to protect vandalism. Linda Ngo creates her
arguments primarily from two methods. Her first two arguments are made in the form of syllogism.
For example, Ngo states Freedom of speech and expression is a natural right that we assimilated when
we were born (196), and This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind whether it s
directly using your mouth or using indirect methods through poetry, music, and visual arts (196).
Since graffiti would be a visual art, the argument is; if freedom of speech legally protects art, and
graffiti is art, then graffiti should be legally protected. Another example of this is when she defines
vandalism as Action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to

New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated, the 1984 joint venture between Toyota and General
Motors, was by all accounts a manufacturing success. NUMMI s effectiveness was evidenced by the
drastic change in output quality, employee morale, and overall cost but while these great outcomes
were recognized by GM, they were hardly leveraged. What supported these results were exactly the
factors that radically set NUMMI apart from the rest of the GM family. Ultimately, GM s failure to
adapt the plant s success was the result of a prideful conglomerate embodying a competitive internal
structure and divisive culture so strong that it was unable to fully recognize and adapt to the
fundamentally different NUMMI model. The culture within the broader General Motors, both at
corporate and factory level, was one of self accomplishment. This praised the individual and unit, and
neglected how teams of units might work together to achieve something greater. As a result, when
faced with the opportunity to adapt to the Japanese style, backlash ensued not only at plant level, but

Marijuana Vs Marijuana Essay
Alcohol vs Marijuana: Which is more harmful to your health?
By Alfonzo Porter
Is getting drunk on alcohol worse than getting high on cannabis? This has been one of the most
debated questions throughout the majority of the 20th century until this very day. It s been nearly 85
years since the 21st Amendment to the Constitution repealed the prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. in
1933. With liquor now legal, citizens were free to indulge without restriction. This, while marijuana
continued to be classified as a schedule one drug and remained illegal nationally until the states of
Colorado and Washington legalized recreational pot in 2012. However, the hypocrisy of alcohol s
legalization decades ago did not go unnoticed.
The research into the health effects of marijuana is still in its infancy. However,
It has been demonstrated that using either alcohol or marijuana can have health consequences. They
are both intoxicants and can have long terms effects on the mind and body. It is a complex issue
because the two are difficult to compare.
Drinking too much liquor can be deadly. If your body is incapable of metabolizing alcohol as fast as it
is consumed leads to a build up of toxins in the brain that causes vital functions, needed for survival,
to shut down. Marijuana, on the other hand, has been found to increase the heart rate and blood
pressure. Yet, cannabis has not caused death as a result of overuse.
If you are on medication, alcohol might not mix well or interact with

Exothermic Salts Lab Report
Analysis: The endothermic salts would not even function as hand warmers at all because they take in
energy from their energy in the form of heat. This means it will take heat away from whatever is near
it. That means, any hands near the endothermic salts will become colder, not warmer. The exothermic
salts, which are the salts give off energy, are LiCl, Na2CO3 and CaCl2.
The next important consideration is whether they give off enough heat to make sufficient hand
warmers. For 10 grams of the salt in 40 milliliters of water, the minimum temperature change must at
least 20 degrees celsius. As calculated above, only LiCl and CaCl2 meet the requirements.
After checking the sufficiency of the hand warmers, checking their safety is the next important ...

It is very difficult to get an exact amount measured for whatever substances is being used, in particular
the water. Measuring exactly 100 mL is difficult as seeing where the water is in the graduated cylinder
can be hard. Also, there is a possibility the magnetic stir bar could not have stirred the solution fully or
equally, causing a dissonance in temperatures and how the energy is distributed throughout the
solution. Finally, the mass we recorded could have slight inaccuracies due to there being a chance
grains of whatever salt we were using falling onto the scale itself and not the weighting boat, causing
the balance to show a heavier mass than what there actual is. In the calculations, rounding and sig fig

While the Popularity of professional American football has grown to unbelievable numbers across of

taking place in a time where concussion or head injuries have begun to gain attention at every level of

The Birth of the Game of American Football
The National Football League (NFL) is the professional football league that most people recognize as
the giant of American football. However, the game did not begin with a professional level. The first
ever game of football that was played happened on the college level on November 6, 1869. It took
place in New Brunswick, New Jersey and was a game that put Rutgers University against Princeton
University. The two schools are located only 20 miles from each other.
At that time, players were not allowed to pass the football in the air or run with it down the field. The
only way to move the ball down the field was by batting the ball or dribbling it kind of like you were
playing soccer. There were no

Reflection On Internships
Reflection
In the beginning of my sophomore year of college, I became passionate about public policy. Knowing
that just my education was not going to suffice with the aggressive job market directly after school, I
found myself being challenged to look for a position in my field for that summer. Recommendations
from family friends led me to apply for Senator Rob Portman s prestigious internship in Washington,
D.C. The internship was a reach as I was competing with some of the top students in my state. My
hard work dedication paid off: a couple of months later the office of Senator Rob Portman extended an
invitation for me to join their team that summer. I ventured to the District of Columbia with two main
goals: first, to discover my intended career path; and second, to try to understand the language of
government, since it will be relevant to my career.
Needless to say, I was so ecstatic to get a call from the office that I immediately began preparing my
move in May. I was not familiar with our nation s capital as I had never been before. I decided to stay
in the George Washington University Greek Housing dorms that were a quick 15 minute commute to
work via metro. The early morning hustle and bustle was a shock to me, but it was something that I
fell in love with immediately.
I was the first intern out of the nine interns to show up to the office. Once the last person arrived to the
glamorous Russell Senate office, one of the staffers took us to a large conference

Organizational Leadership Analysis
The most communicated organizational need in the global business environment is organizational
leadership. Today, more than nine hundred universities and colleges exist to train, teach, and educate
those who wish to become leaders in the specific topics of organizational leadership. Moreover,
publications that inform benchmarks, best practices, and basic leadership concepts are becoming must
read material in the global organization. Even though leadership may be defined in many different
ways, the substance of the definition is similar. Leadership has been said to be a trait, an ability, skill,
behavior, and relationship (Leadership New Leadership Styles, 2016). No matter what leadership is to
the individual, leadership is needed and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, leadership traits may be altered by success when internalized by men and women in
moving an organization toward success. In any event, leadership traits may be categorized into the
most common, and likable leadership titles. These titles include: (1) Spiritual; (2) Servant; (3)
Transformational; (4) Authentic; and (5) Transactional. Depending upon the organization, the culture,
and the organizational environment, the leadership style needed or desired to move the business to
success is a critical decision. Organizations that lack leadership or lack the appropriate motivational
leadership tools will have difficulties in the global competition. Recognizing the lack of leadership
abilities may prevent organizational failure, unwanted staff turnover, organizational conflicts, reduced
productivity, and undesirable legal encounters.
Discussion
Using two distinctly different approaches in quantifiable research, one may compare and contrast
qualitative and quantitative leadership styles. By means of two measured studies, the one most
distinguish and one least advantageous leadership style may be determined. These studies may also be
used to predict the most productive leadership style for organizational growth. Additionally, determine
which leadership styles may be ruled out, or not used, due to lacking leadership traits. What ever the
outcome, this study begins with the quantitative leadership styles.

Harley-Davidson Economic System
The different economic systems
There are four main classifications of the economic system: mixed economy, socialism, capitalism,
and communism.
A mixed economy is a mixture of capitalism and socialism. Personal possession of large company is
probable; there is just a higher amount of taxation on these businesses. This is common economic
structure as most established or emerging countries have implemented it, including the United States
of America. Meanwhile America has free market abilities with tolerable government influence, as
opposite to comprehensive or nonexistent intrusion, all methods of business could grow in a sensibly
modest manner.

Davidson were started and operated in an unadulterated capitalist economy, there would be no
boundaries. No boundary on what it could retail, and for what amount. No quality requirements for
imported and exported products. No minimum limits for supervisors and they could fire anyone they

The Attack By Yasmina Khadra
There is no denying that violence can impact a person in harmful ways, however, that is not always
the case. In Yasmina Khadra s The Attack, characters experience different kinds of violence, but its
impact can be positive. The attack that Amin Jaafari s wife, Sihem, executed allowed him to learn
many life lessons and gave him the ability to see things in a new perspective. Also, the violent attacks
that occur in Amin s country make public service workers essential to helping the community.
Furthermore, violence in society encourages people to fight for their beliefs. Thus, the violent acts that

Strict Constructionist Dbq
When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally
characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the
Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the domestic
and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well as ideas held
by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict constitutional
interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see that both parties to
some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve their political agendas.
On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jefferson wrote to Gideon Granger, a future
member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the state s rights, and that
the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs of such a varying and
diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the United States, the primary
author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America should grow as an agrarian
nation with a limited central government and strong state governments. This document shows that
Jeffersonian Republicans were strict interpreters of the Constitution by telling us directly that

My Sister Is A Two Time Breast Cancer Survivor Essay
My sister Kate was laying on a stretcher in the hallway of her local hospital with a badly broken ankle.
Her ankle was shattered, splintered, destroyed. And this was good news!
Kate s ankle was broken because she had slipped on snow covered ice during a blinding New England
snow storm, referred to by New Englanders as a Nor easter, while walking from her office to her car.
She was laying on a stretcher in the hospital hallway because many others in her town had met with
misfortune during this storm and were also in the hospital awaiting care and there was no room for
Kate except for where she lay. This was good news because Kate was in the hospital for something
other than the breast cancer she had been battling over the past several years. Good things can come in
odd packages sometimes.
My sister is a two time breast cancer survivor. The first time was an early diagnosis and routine
treatment that was successful. The second time was an aggressive, dark, menacing monster that was
dangerous and spreading. After chemotherapy, radiation and a complete mastectomy she had a long
road back to her normal self; or what would become her new normal. Kate is now healthy, active and
thriving but she has to keep an eye out for any sign that the monster is returning.

Theory based practice guides data collection and interpretation in a clear and organized manner;
therefore it is easier for the nurse to diagnose and address health problems (Nies McEwen, 2015, p.
38). These theories define what nursing is or what sets it apart from different professions. The
microscopic approach is when the individual is the focus of change. Dorothea Orem developed self
care deficit theory. This is done by measuring the client s deficit comparative to their self care needs.
The nurse s role is to supply care when the patients cannot provide care to themselves. The town of
Phillipsburg has a history of being very industrialize but has now closed many companies. Many
homes were built back then to accompany the workers. The potential for these older homes to contain
lead pipes and lead based paints could be a possibility. This type of poisoning could affect the
individuals living in these houses. From a macroscopic point of view, the society or social economics
are the focus of health status. This is also known as the thinking upstream . Nancy Milio a nurse and
leader in public health policy developed Milio s Framework for Prevention . This approach includes
concepts of community oriented, population focused care. She stated that behavioral patterns of the
populations and individuals who make up the populations are a result of habitual selection from
limited choices. She also said the governmental and institutional policies set the range of options for
personal choice making. The population of Phillipsburg below the poverty line by 13.4% (United
States Census Bureu, n.d.) and this social economic status will have some impact on the health status

The Dark 1984 Soundtrack Music always has hiding meanings. Every song we listen to we can almost
always compare it to an event or person. While reading 1984 two songs came to mind that had
definitive ties to the characters Winston and Big Brother. Another song had similarities to the
telescreen. The connection of these three songs of the characters and object enhance the meaning of
the story. Winston is one of those rebellious characters. He doesn t care completely of the
consequences, he just does what he wants, even if the Party doesn t agree with him. This is why the

Well in Oceania they are always being watched by telescreens. This is why the song Nowhere to Run,
by Martha and the Vandellas fits perfectly with telescreens. The Lyrics that show that the people in
Oceania are always being watched is when it says, Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. No matter where
you are at there is never away to get away from the Party due to the telescreens. An example in the
book that represents these lyrics well is when Julia and Winston are upstairs at Mr. Charrington s
house and they are near each other and they say we are dead and then an iron voice repeated them.
They sprung apart and then realized that the whole time there was a telescreen behind the big picture
on the wall (221). They thought they had finally found a place where they weren t being watched by
the telescreen but they were being watched the entire time. This just proves that they never had
anywhere to run or hide because wherever they went they were being watched. Another example that
shows these lyrics depicting the telescreen is in the beginning of the book when it was described that
any sound Winston made could be picked up and that it was conceivable that they watched everyone
all the time. They had to live and did live in the assumption that every sound they made was
overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized (3). These two examples in the book

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in Theory and Practice Essay
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in Theory and Practice
Shakespeare s Macbeth has been the subject of scholarly research in terms of ambition, politics, and
sexuality. The most predominant analysis is that of the relationship between Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth. This relationship in theory is full of sexual innuendo, maternal power, gender transgression,
and violence. In reading multiple essays on the psychological nature of the relationship one question
came to mind: to what extent are the characters aware of the psychological effect they have on each
other in performance? In contrast to the various essays by literary scholars, Sinead Cusack wrote with

Also, all roles refer to, what I believe, not the masculinity, but defeminizations of the women in order
to further extort their power over Macbeth (Adelman 139). However, if the scholarly analysis is
correct, that Macbeth is a play representing the male fear of feminine power and chaos (ibid, Watson
99) than the unsexing of these characters would destroy the central theme of the play, or at least
reduce the danger to masculinity. Although the witches take on an androgynous persona you should be
women/And yet your beards forbid me to interpret/That you are (1.3.45 47) they are entirely feminine
in their ability to tempt Macbeth and to mother him by manipulating him. Lady Macbeth tempts him

and also reduces him to the status of an infant by comparing him to her infant in 1.7.54 59 I have

The connection between Lady Macbeth and the Witches is an easy one to make. Her calling on spirits,
or murdering ministers to unsex me here (1.5.40 48) closely resembles the Witches calling on spirits in
order to practice their craft. Lady Macbeth also represents to Macbeth the same role of the Witches to
push him into the murder of Duncan. Wherever the Witches take off Lady Macbeth picks up in what

To demonstrate effective communicational skills one must use one to one interaction for example to

Hallucinations In Schizophrenic Patients
The assumption outlined by Bentall (2006), postulates that one should abandon psychiatric diagnosis
altogether, and rather attempt to explain specific complaints that individuals bring to the attention of
the clinician. For example if an individual presents hallucinations clinicians should explain the
mechanisms by which the hallucinations occur rather than simply labelling the individual as
Schizophrenic. When applying this approach, specific difficulties can be investigated without the
constraints of the assumption that they belong to a broader diagnostic category. Which consequently
allows psychiatrists to gain a more in depth insight as to why these difficulties may arise and by what
mechanisms. Bentall (2006), further implies that once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

qualitative deviation from normal experience. Hence assuming a continuum format that ranges from
normal beliefs to disabling beliefs (Johns Van Os, 2001). Further researchers have used examples like
this to indicate that the distinction between normality and abnormality is arbitrary. Under what

The Accomplishments Of Henry David Thoreau
Background
Henry David Thoreau was born on July 12th, in Concord Massachusetts. Thoreau was many things,
not simply just a writer; but he was one of the most influential writers America knows today. Early on
in his life he grew up in a simple home with hard working parents, and an abundance of siblings. His
father and mother both had worked as teachers as well as investing in many other trades to get by.
Henry started developing his talent for writing early on, by age ten he had written his first piece of
writing, The Seasons, as well as many other academic achievements for somebody his age. He was
articulate and mature beyond his years, these things developed into key traits that brought him to,
instead of listening in on lectures at the Concord Lyceum being the one leading the lectures in the later
years of his life. He came back to Concord after graduating from Harvard University, starting to work
at a public school he d attended as a child. He was a man with morals; known to look at things in a
more progressive way than many in his life. After being asked to conduct corporal punishment on a
student he left the school he was teaching at to expand his studies and find further employment. His
talents broadened further than essays and poetry, he gave himself away to a life of helping others,
sheltering runaway slaves on their journey to freedom. He was a man of nature, not as much an
adventurer, but he took two years to emerge himself into the depths of nature and not

The Universe Next Door Analysis
As I come to the close of this course, Philosophy and Worldviews, I must admit that my thoughts
regarding the many worldviews have been enlightened and enhanced. Studying the book by Sire, The
Universe Next Door provided me with a great deal of knowledge on how other view God, his Word,
his creation and even death. With so many worldviews it became clearer to me why we have so much
confusion in the world today. If everyone is seeking what is right or truth and there is not according to
the various worldview s a defined right or truth, then how can we not have a world of confusion? The
nine worldviews has given me a stronger desire to spread the good news of God through his son, Jesus
Christ. It has also, help me to open up a see how

Coffee, Tea, And Tea
The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca
Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However, focusing
on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those three drinks
impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them. In order to
produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This caused a culture
shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together, but one was
considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers, whose
conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal
empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create
the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the
world into major cultural shifts.
During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain
became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink
was disease ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks. Rum had more
alcohol content than beer, and had more flavor than water, so it pleased the masses greatly. However,
since Rum did have a higher alcohol content, it left the population in a

animals such as Tasmanian Tigers yet; there isn t a single trace of them left on the planet. It shows just
how destructive humans can be.
In South Africa, The rhinoceros is a prestige animal and is part of our heritage and famous Big Five.

My CT, has to have her lesson plan turned in and approved at least 2 weeks prior to the lesson. There is no room for error, let alone the students not understanding any lesson. If a lesson is taught on a Monday, the classroom will be moving on to the next lesson on Tuesday, regardless if the students understand the lesson or not. There is also no differentiation in the classroom. All of the students are given the same materials, lessons and the same amount of help. Many times, the language of the test is content specific academic language, which is much more difficult for the individual to understand. This could easily be adjusted by, making sure the student is taught the specific language throughout the lesson and unit. Another course of action would be to differentiate the assessment by adjusting the language so that the L2 is comprehensible to the student. Language Allocation in Classroom Within the Spanish speaking community at this charter school, there is little to no L1 used during the school day. The students instruction does now allow for the individuals L1 to be used. • 4. Jules Ferry Imperialism Jules Ferry was a French politician who served two times as a Prime Minister during the Third Republic. Third Republic was the name of the French government for nearly 69 years from 1871 to 1940. Jules Ferry was known as the passionate imperialist. During his time as the Prime Minister, occupied Tunisia, some parts of Indochina and he also started exploring certain parts of Africa. In his speech, Ferry is urging the French Parliament to expand the borders in order to increase the economic and political as well as the military power of France as other countries began to export more goods than France. Therefore if they had more colonies they set up more so that they could send more of their goods out of the country. Jules Ferry believed that France should push its politics onto less developed countries with the goal of increasing revenue and becoming economically powerful. What made it urgent for France to have colonies are the recent events in the world trade in order to broaden their own trade lines. In the text Ferry states, ... Optical Fiber Sensors Essay Optical fiber sensors are very important devices to detect and monitor ionizing radiation in nuclear based technologies such as industrial radiography, nuclear medicine, spacecraft and satellite instrumentation, and also in nuclear power facilities. Reliability of other conventional radiation detectors in space and terrestrial application is much affected by electromagnetic interference and exposure to fire and explosion potential hazards. However the functionality of optical fiber at extremely high dose radiation still a challenge where radiation induced attenuation can be increased for permanent damage of the sensor. There is a need to develop a new sensing material with small dimension and low mass such as single mode silica optical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2013). There is a need to replace 3H based sensor to detect neutron in context of nuclear nonproliferation(Runkle 2011) and silica optical fiber with better resistant to radiation damage (Xue et al. 2012) is the other very close a safe cheaper possible neutron sensor to be considered. In addition, its other characteristic of having low attenuation losses provides a wide bandwidth for long distance wireless communication so that the exposure of radiation to workers can be avoided during radiation detection and monitoring operation. Ionizing radiation such as x ray, gamma, alpha, beta and neutron radiations, are not only harmful to human health(Azzam et al. 2012) and environment(Mothersill Seymour 2014), but also can damage the electronic devices(Wang et al. 2014). The source of these ionizing radiations are from radioactive materials, x ray tubes, particle accelerators such as ion beams, nuclear weapons and reactors, cosmic rays from space and from natural rocks and minerals. Exposure of extremely high energy electromagnetic radiation such as x ray can lead to failure in silicon sensors(Klanner et al. 2013). The increasing radiation induced attenuation can lead to permanent damage of optical fiber(Kovačević et al. 2013). So there is a need to develop better sensors with good radiation resistance such as Ge doped optical fiber sensors in radiant environment. The feeling of unfairness has led to people not putting their all into their jobs creating a very laid back and non sense of emergency attitude in certain groups and areas of the company. In areas like the control center employees have no choice but to be alert, responsive and vigilant seeing as people s lives are at risk if they fail to do their job properly. The corporate offices where a lot the IT, administrative, finances departments etc. are where I feel the employees to be slack. This type of attitude I believe is slowing down productivity across the board and a lot of things seem to be delayed. Problem statement I think the majority of employees at ConEd are dissatisfied with their jobs and the organization s leadership. This is leading to low levels of performance which in turn is also making the organization very laid back and not fulfilling enough for employees that are really trying to get ahead and be rewarded for their efforts. Managing And Securing Unstructured Data With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of information generated and shared in social networking sites and across various industries. This has led to storing and access issues with regards to unstructured data. Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying to handle it. In simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be stored in the form of rows and columns. It can be anything including email files, text documents, presentations, image and video files. Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1 ZB = 1 billion TB). Also backup and restore will take a lesser time Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and unstructured data is not a part of the transaction. Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above, another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to support a new data type filestream . Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document framework with the referential integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database engine. In SQL Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information in the document framework. • 8. Rahab Prostitute Rahab is a speed bump within Joshua 2 for three main reasons. First of all: she is a prostitute, and likely a debt prostitute. Secondly, she knows a lot more about Jericho s security than it seems that she should, as well as being a good liar. Thirdly, she is a traitor to her own people. Rahab is likely a successful prostitute, as she lives within the city walls, but being a prostitute, she cannot live much farther in than the outskirts of the city walls. It is likely that Rahab got into prostitution to pay off her family s debt, or as a debt slave. (CD, 11/13) Rahab understood how to lie to the king in such a way that he believed her and in a way that allowed her to throw the king and his men off track in their search for the spies. ... She exalts the Israelite s God, stating that the Lord your God is indeed God in heaven above and on earth below. (Josh 2:11) This shows that she is willing to devote her life to God in order to survive. It is possible that this devotion is in spite of what she believes, rather than a full conversion, but Rahab is willing to commit to it in order to survive in the new society when the Israelites conquer her city. It is an art well structured to pass a message of freedom to the Black Americans. The black Americans found themselves in the west due to the cross Atlantic trade which took place in the 18th century. Cross Atlantic trade involved slave trade. As found in the first stanza of this song, the old pirates sold I to the merchant s ship . In the redemption song, stanza 2 and 3 line one is carrying a very heavy message to the then blacks. Bob settles to them being the solution to what they were going through. He goes deeper into putting their situation as mental slavery as he says emancipate yourself from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our mind . Unknowingly, Bob was singing this song to all people even to this day. Some people are slaves as others control them on how to live their lives. Many people across the world have very strong feelings about inequality and it is becoming an important issue. What some people do not realize is that inequality has entered schools. In all schools there are different teaching and class levels, and many students are not getting an equal opportunity in order to be successful in the future. In some cases, this is due to money problems; but in other cases it might just be the school and how it is run. Understandably, schools can not guide every student towards success; however all students around the world are not given equal classroom opportunities in order to be successful in their future. Classroom opportunities are different all around the world and schools differ in the level of the classes that are taught. Obviously, the schools in the United States do not get all the same classes as schools in Europe. There are some schools in the world that do not let students take the type of classes that is in the appropriate level or subject for their future. Fremont High, a school in California, is one of these schools. One student was required to take a sewing class when she wanted to take an AP class. (Kozol). Freedom of speech is a protected right we have as Americans, but it does not and should not extend to protect vandalism. Linda Ngo creates her arguments primarily from two methods. Her first two arguments are made in the form of syllogism. For example, Ngo states Freedom of speech and expression is a natural right that we assimilated when we were born (196), and This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind whether it s directly using your mouth or using indirect methods through poetry, music, and visual arts (196). NUMMI s effectiveness was evidenced by the drastic change in output quality, employee morale, and overall cost but while these great outcomes were recognized by GM, they were hardly leveraged. What supported these results were exactly the factors that radically set NUMMI apart from the rest of the GM family. Ultimately, GM s failure to adapt the plant s success was the result of a prideful conglomerate embodying a competitive internal structure and divisive culture so strong that it was unable to fully recognize and adapt to the fundamentally different NUMMI model. The culture within the broader General Motors, both at corporate and factory level, was one of self accomplishment. This praised the individual and unit, and neglected how teams of units might work together to achieve something greater. This has been one of the most debated questions throughout the majority of the 20th century until this very day. With liquor now legal, citizens were free to indulge without restriction. This, while marijuana continued to be classified as a schedule one drug and remained illegal nationally until the states of Colorado and Washington legalized recreational pot in 2012. Strict Constructionist Dbq When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jefferson wrote to Gideon Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the United States, the primary author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America should grow as an agrarian nation with a limited central government and strong state governments. • 32. My Sister Is A Two Time Breast Cancer Survivor Essay My sister Kate was laying on a stretcher in the hallway of her local hospital with a badly broken ankle. Her ankle was shattered, splintered, destroyed. And this was good news! Kate s ankle was broken because she had slipped on snow covered ice during a blinding New England snow storm, referred to by New Englanders as a Nor easter, while walking from her office to her car. She was laying on a stretcher in the hospital hallway because many others in her town had met with misfortune during this storm and were also in the hospital awaiting care and there was no room for Kate except for where she lay. This was good news because Kate was in the hospital for something other than the breast cancer she had been battling over the past several years. Good things can come in odd packages sometimes. My sister is a two time breast cancer survivor. The first time was an early diagnosis and routine treatment that was successful. The second time was an aggressive, dark, menacing monster that was dangerous and spreading. After chemotherapy, radiation and a complete mastectomy she had a long road back to her normal self; or what would become her new normal. Kate is now healthy, active and thriving but she has to keep an eye out for any sign that the monster is returning. Theory based practice guides data collection and interpretation in a clear and organized manner; therefore it is easier for the nurse to diagnose and address health problems (Nies McEwen, 2015, p. 38). These theories define what nursing is or what sets it apart from different professions. The microscopic approach is when the individual is the focus of change. Dorothea Orem developed self care deficit theory. This is done by measuring the client s deficit comparative to their self care needs. The nurse s role is to supply care when the patients cannot provide care to themselves. The town of Phillipsburg has a history of being very industrialize but has now closed many companies. Many homes were built back then to accompany the workers. The potential for these older homes to contain lead pipes and lead based paints could be a possibility. While reading 1984 two songs came to mind that had definitive ties to the characters Winston and Big Brother. Another song had similarities to the telescreen. The connection of these three songs of the characters and object enhance the meaning of the story. Winston is one of those rebellious characters. He doesn t care completely of the consequences, he just does what he wants, even if the Party doesn t agree with him. This is why the song Nowhere to Run, by Martha and the Vandellas fits perfectly with telescreens. The Lyrics that show that the people in Oceania are always being watched is when it says, Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. No matter where you are at there is never away to get away from the Party due to the telescreens. An example in the book that represents these lyrics well is when Julia and Winston are upstairs at Mr. Charrington s house and they are near each other and they say we are dead and then an iron voice repeated them. They sprung apart and then realized that the whole time there was a telescreen behind the big picture on the wall (221). They thought they had finally found a place where they weren t being watched by the telescreen but they were being watched the entire time. This just proves that they never had anywhere to run or hide because wherever they went they were being watched. Another example that shows these lyrics depicting the telescreen is in the beginning of the book when it was described that any sound Winston made could be picked up and that it was conceivable that they watched everyone all the time. They had to live and did live in the assumption that every sound they made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized (3). • 35. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in Theory and Practice Essay Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in Theory and Practice Shakespeare s Macbeth has been the subject of scholarly research in terms of ambition, politics, and sexuality. The most predominant analysis is that of the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. This relationship in theory is full of sexual innuendo, maternal power, gender transgression, and violence. In reading multiple essays on the psychological nature of the relationship one question came to mind: to what extent are the characters aware of the psychological effect they have on each other in performance? Also, all roles refer to, what I believe, not the masculinity, but defeminizations of the women in order to further extort their power over Macbeth (Adelman 139). However, if the scholarly analysis is correct, that Macbeth is a play representing the male fear of feminine power and chaos (ibid, Watson 99) than the unsexing of these characters would destroy the central theme of the play, or at least reduce the danger to masculinity. Although the witches take on an androgynous persona you should be women/And yet your beards forbid me to interpret/That you are (1.3.45 47) they are entirely feminine in their ability to tempt Macbeth and to mother him by manipulating him. Hallucinations In Schizophrenic Patients The assumption outlined by Bentall (2006), postulates that one should abandon psychiatric diagnosis altogether, and rather attempt to explain specific complaints that individuals bring to the attention of the clinician. For example if an individual presents hallucinations clinicians should explain the mechanisms by which the hallucinations occur rather than simply labelling the individual as Schizophrenic. When applying this approach, specific difficulties can be investigated without the constraints of the assumption that they belong to a broader diagnostic category. Which consequently allows psychiatrists to gain a more in depth insight as to why these difficulties may arise and by what mechanisms. Bentall (2006), further implies that once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Returning back to the example of a schizophrenic symptom namely delusions, Bell, Halligan and Ellis, (2006) have shown that approximately 10% of a sampled typical population scored above the psychotic inpatients sample on measures of ideation (Peters, Joseph Garety, (1999). However, as this minority are not disabled by their anomalous beliefs they are consequentially not labelled as Schizophrenic. This can lead one to suggest that delusions are not a discrete entity; rather they are a qualitative deviation from normal experience. Hence assuming a continuum format that ranges from normal beliefs to disabling beliefs (Johns Van Os, 2001). Further researchers have used examples like this to indicate that the distinction between normality and abnormality is arbitrary. Under what theoretical reasoning have psychiatrists decided to place the boundary along the continuum of functioning? Why should we choose the top 5%? These questions have lead many to question the ability of these classification systems to accurately distinguish between normality and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coffee, Tea, And Tea The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However, focusing on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those three drinks impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them. In order to produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This caused a culture shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together, but one was considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers, whose conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the world into major cultural shifts. During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink was disease ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks. Rum had more alcohol content than beer, and had more flavor than water, so it pleased the masses greatly. However, since Rum did have a higher alcohol content, it left the population in a ...
