Friday Night Live Executive Summary
Executive Summary Friday Night Live is a weekly social located at the Royal Ontario Museum in
Toronto, Ontario. The goal of this report is to outline a feasible marketing plan to ensure that Carrie
Martin, the assistance vice president of programs, events, and commercial services at the ROM, can
achieve her attendance goal of 3,500 persons opening night and as well maximize profits from the
social. With a focus on a younger demographic as ideal attendance to the event, Martin must do the
following to guarantee success in future operations
Maintain admission prices

As Toronto was frequently referred to as the country s finance and business capital, these business
professionals often worked long hours and considered Friday nights as an opening to get out and
socialize. Generally this age group will have more money than the price sensitive students and will
most likely be able to afford the $2 price increase of which Martin was considering. As this
demographic currently represented the largest customer group, and one of the higher spending groups,
it is evident that Friday Night Live should continue to appeal to this

The Problem Of Information Security And Security
It s fair to say the environment of the healthcare industry is always in the midst of constant turmoil.
The industry is a complex equation built on ever changing government programs, rapid advances in
medicine and technology, and new business combinations between and among health care providers
and payers. Leaders of a healthcare organization must be equipped to adapt to the continuous chaos or
face defeat. Information security and privacy is a fundamental component of a successful and efficient
healthcare environment. The coming year will be a busy one for lawyers, compliance officers, privacy
officers, and senior management as they must stay above the game when it comes to privacy and
security. I will explore three trending issues and concerns relating to healthcare privacy and security.
My hot topics include the use of big data and its implication, the evolving risks of cyber security, and
health research and de identification.
As we have discussed in class, the big data revolution is hitting the healthcare sector hard. Hospitals,
managed care organizations, and other providers are creating significant value in analyzing data from
a multitude of sources with much of the information not previously thought of as healthcare data.
What exactly does this mean? Well, healthcare companies are gathering data such as gym membership
lapses, food shopping habits, clothing shopping, income, marital status, and even the number of cars

Endgame By Samuel Beckett Essay
The mood and attitude of Samuel Beckett s 1957 play, Endgame, are reflective of the year of its
conception. The history that reflects directly on the play itself is worth sole attention. In that year, the
world was a mixed rush of Cold War fear, existential reason, and race to accomplishment (Garraty
307). Countries either held a highlighted concern with present wartime/possibility of war, or
involvement with the then sprouting movement of Existentialism. The then absurdist theater reflected
the values and concerns of the modern society (Petty). The accomplishments of man, such as the
Soviet launching of both Sputnik satellites, sparked international competition. 1957 was not a year of
unification and worldly brotherhood, it was a time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In October, they successfully launched Sputnik I, the world s first artificial satellite (Stiefel 157). As a
follow up achievement, in November Sputnik II was launched, carrying a dog named Laika to study
adaptation to space. A heavy news highlight, which could be seen as integrated meaning into the
macabre situations of the characters in the play, was that Laika did not survive the accomplishment of
space travel (Cold War). Soviet technological know how introduced new international competition in
space exploration and missile capability. The Soviet Premier, Nikita Khruschev, had emerged from the
post Stalin interregnum as the new leader, and was eager to fan the flames of American/Soviet
relations. Although the missile that launched both Sputnik satellites was too primitive for military
deployment, Kruschev claimed that long range missiles were rolling off the assembly line like
sausages , a lie that allowed US President Eisenhower s opponents to perceive a missile gap (Garraty
329 332). Kruschev tried to gain control over the gap in a series of crises, but his motives proved
faulty and in turn provoked reactions in China, the United States, and Europe which hurt his own
political support in the Soviet Union (Stiefel 160).
Elsewhere in the world, other nations experienced tumultuous inter relational struggles. In Arab
countries, political and

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Human Needs In Cast Away
In the movie Castaway, Chuck Nolan not only survives the island with nothing for four years, but he
also demonstrates Maslow s Hierarchy of Human Needs while he is there. This movie explains
Physiological, Safety, love belonging, esteem, and self actualization being made all on one island.
Chuck Nolan was the main character and he drifted away 500 miles on an island. The main thing he
was missing on the island was the love of his life, kelly. The first stage he showed was Physiological.
This is because it is all the basic needs you must have such as food, water, and shelter. Nolan uses this
throughout his time on the island. He finds tree branches and makes fishing rod to catch his food.
Chuck also uses the raft he had from the plane to get to this island, as a bed and his shelter for when
the storms would come. When he he was walking around in the water, he came across a cave, where
he then used it as his other home for more warmth and more safety. ... Show more content on

When he went exploring on the island, he used the dress from the Fedex plane, to wrap around his feet
as shoes, so he did not hurt his feet. For safety, Chuck also used the life boat when the plane crashed
so he did not have to float in the ocean with nothing. Nolan used the cave for safety as well, when the
storms came since it was much sturdier than the plastic raft above his head. The third stage he showed
was Love and Belonging. This stage was shown a lot. The picture he carried everywhere of kelly
showed this because he loved her a lot, and she was his purpose to keep trying, so he could see her
again. I also saw this when he made friends with Wilson, the volleyball. He never wanted to be alone,
treated him like he was a human and made sure he was okay when he left the island. Another love and
belonging I noticed was when he saw the captains dead body wash up on shore, he ran up to him,
carried him to land, and made him a funeral showing his love for a

Test Battery Autism
Autism is a developmental disability that presents at an early age (typically under the age of three
years) that can affect a child s educational performance. Child and adults can have deficiencies in
communication, social skills, and using language. People with autism tend to engage in motor/vocal
stereotypy. The spectrum for autism has a wide range from mild to severe. To determine where a child
falls on the spectrum many assessments can be administered.
If a child is believed to be on the spectrum, a CARS2 assessment may be issued. The Childhood
Autism Rating Scale (Second Edition) helps distinguish children that have autism from those who are
developmentally handicapped. It also allows you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sections. Items addressed in both assessments are relating to people, body use, visual response, taste
smell, and touch response and use, verbal communication, nonverbal communication, level and
consistency of intellectual response and general impressions. Imitation, emotional response, object
use, adaptation to change fear or nervousness, and activity level is focused on solely in the Standard
form subtest. For the High functioning form Social emotional understanding, emotional expression
and regulation of emotions, adaption to change/restricted interest, fear of anxiety, and thinking
cognitive integration skills are the main emphasis.
The administrator will rate each item using a four point response scale. The rating is based on not only
a child s response but also their behavior during their session. An administrated also takes into
consideration student s intensity, peculiarity, and duration of a answer. The CARS2 assessment is a
good place to start when a child is believed to have autism spectrum disorder.
The Verbal Behavior Milestone Assessment and Placement Program (VB MAPP) is a criterion
referenced assessment for child with autism that demonstrates language delays. It analyzes verbal
behavior and developmental milestones. There are five components of the VB MAPP. These
components provide baseline performance, a direction for intervention, a

What honestly did kill Robin Williams? He WAS suffering from dementia but that wasn t what killed

presence of diffuse Lewy body dementia in the brain of Mr. Williams. This is more commonly called

The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife
Musical Culture
The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of the
synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of
sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of computer
technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST s). These all
fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. The development of this new
technology brought many new genres to music, mostly popular, Electronic Dance Music being one of
these.

At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both
looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough.
Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and
Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that
artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for
sequencing. Buchla said, you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for each
interval. So that required, of course, a voltage controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a bunch of
other ideas (Pinch, 2004, p.40).
It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to look
at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic instrument, and
instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed duophony possible on
synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing
duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized
sound with sliders. By the mid 1970 s, well known companies like Sequential Circuits and Yamaha
had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be introduced to the
electronic music scene. One

Symbol In The Scarlet Ibis, By James Hurst
A symbol is an object that represents or symbolizes another object. In the short story, the scarlet ibis,
by James Hurst, the scarlet ibis is a symbol for Doodle because it represents him in life, in person, and
in death. One example of the scarlet ibis symbolizing doodle is the fact that both the Scarlet Ibis and
Doodle are out of place. For example, when doodle s father reads the bird book, he states, It is a
Scarlet Ibis, it lives in the tropics [South America to Florida]. A storm must have brought it here, A
Scarlet Ibis! How many miles it have traveled to die like this, in our yard, beneath the bleeding tree
(Hurst 4). This compares the fact that the scarlet ibis is making a strenuous migration, to die in a storm
like Doodle. In Doodle s

Salt Late City Law History Essay
Salt Late City Law History
Salt Lake City looks like a very large well organised city, there are fair house allotments and they were
quite large. The city is a good strong planned community with lots of residential areas. The way the
city is set out it is obvious that a strong leader who knew what he wanted has planned the city and
shows through the city that it is very disciplined. There may have been school their as well which
would have proven what a well organised city this is. There are a few large churches, which tells us
that this city is prosperous and religious.
In early mining towns there were many problems within the community, this was mainly caused by a

Apart from law and order there were many other problems in mining towns. The majority of the
population were males and built their own cabins, this meant they were probably not very good or
safe. Also they did there own cooking, which probably wasn t the best diet and probably got food
poisoning often. There was an epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no deaths,
which show there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were badly kept
so the houses were most likely dirty.
The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the sources these show lots
of lawlessness in towns and murdering. One source shows a bank robbery, this is proof that the towns
did not have any policing. The source shows also that a few vigilantes on the scene, further proof that
the towns were lawless. Vigilantes were present because of the lack of law that there was in the towns.
They felt it necessary that law had to be imposed on the town other wise it could fall apart.
Another source shows a notice from vigilantes pinned to a man hung for murder. This is useful
because it shows the vigilantes taken the law into there own hands. It also states the reasons for the
vigilantes forming, it tells us that life and security is too sacred to not be protected so they will resort
to these means even if it means killing

How Did Fritz Theilen s Fight Against The Nazi Regime
From 1939 to 1945 World War II devastated Europe. The Nazi regime was taking over, but there were
resistance fighters. Some of them were members of the military, some hid Jews from the Nazis, and
some were children fighting against this regime. Fritz Theilen was a member of the Edelweiss Pirates,
a group of children who actively worked against the Nazis. Fritz had been a member of Hitler Youth
before becoming a Pirate, like most of the other boys. In 1940 he was expelled for insubordination.
After his expulsion he sought contact with other youth who were against the military regime, the
forced militarization of youth, and who believed in a free world. Then, in 1942, Fritz joined the
Edelweiss Pirates. He became one of the leaders of the group. This group of youth were active in their
fight against the Nazis. They stole goods, fought with current members of Hitler Youth, and helped
others escape dangerous situations. He was taken to the Gestapo headquarters after being arrested in
1943. There, he was brutally tortured to give the Gestapo information on the other members of the

Ethanol Pollution
W. Patzek 2005, 324). When those chemicals are released in ethanol fumes they are released in the air
and are inhaled by people around the cars. The New York Department of health (NYDH) reports that,
ammonia is irritating and corrosive. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in air causes
immediate burning of the nose, throat and respiratory tract (NYHD 2005). The use of fertilizers in
corn production makes ethanol even worse than gasoline. Patzek states, the air is more polluted with
the use of ethanol, and more health hazards are introduced with agricultural chemicals, fertilizers,
pesticides and herbicides, and by the waste water streams (Tad W. Patzek
2005, 325). Ethanol is not a clean fuel, and it is causing more pollution than gasoline does.
Ethanol strains corn consumption, because corn is so important that it is used for so many different
things. Animal feed is mostly made of corn and corn silage. Ethanol causes shortages in other crops
like corn and cotton. On top of that, ethanol is not only not a good fuel, but it isn t a clean soil, adding
health risks by releasing toxic chemical fumes. With all those factors ethanol should not be used or
even produced.
The Solution
Ethanol production numbers continue to rise and it is causing a problem. The solution to this problem
is to stop producing ethanol. Without the production of ethanol corn would not be wasted. Corn is a
very important food resource for humans and animals alike.
Ethanol is harming the amount of

Positive And Negative Consequences Of Repealing The Jones Act
Cost Analysis:
I firmly believe, repealing the jones act would certainly make American economy prosperous. In this
section I will bolster my opinion by analyzing some positive and negative consequences of repealing
the act in terms of cost, economic impact, and national safety.
Positive Consequences of repealing Jones act:
Repealing the Jones Act could benefit the American economy, as it is cheaper to build ships outside
USA and hiring foreign crew
Building ships in America is certainly costly affair. It could cost five times more than the ship built
outside USA due high labor rates. Thus, repealing the jones act, means American companies can
lookout for cheaper options and buy vessels made in foreign countries at cheaper rates.
Wages for foreign crews are substantially lower than American crews. American crews cost nearly 4.5
times more than foreign crews. These wages make up nearly 75 percent of the operating cost
difference between the two. If foreign shippers were permitted to enter the U.S. market, American
companies would be forced to compete, and lower both their wages and prices to more reasonable
levels.
Cost of living would be significantly cheaper in states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico
Currently people from states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico have to spend a lot of money to get
goods due to higher freight transportation rates imposed by the Jones act. For example, it costs about
$750 to ship a 45 foot container from Los Angeles to Shanghai, but it costs $8,500 to ship the same
container from Los Angeles to Honolulu. This means that it costs 11 times more money to ship
something to some domestic locations than international ones. Thus, repealing jones act, the cost of
living in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico would decrease greatly as residents would not have to spend as
much money to get goods, from mainland America or from a foreign nation.
Economic boost for American Industries
Relaxing the Jones Act would lead to an economic boost for many industries across the nation, and
provide more goods at lower prices for American consumers. However, many Americans re simply
unaware of the impact that the extra shipping costs of the Jones Act has on their lives, and therefore
efforts to

How Is Kingdom Of Heaven Historically Accurate
Although the movie Kingdom of Heaven was based on a true historical event, not all the scenes are
accurate. The relationships, knights, and weapons seen in the movie do not all add up to the way
things were during the Second Crusade. Hollywood movie directors are in it for the money. They want
to make an action packed movie. They do not care if everything in the movie is historically correct.
Although the movie was not all historically correct, it still does a good job of portraying what
happened during the Second Crusade. These are some events that happened in the movie. I will tell
you why they are not all historically correct. Some relationships in this movie were not quite portrayed
the way they actually were. For example, in the movie it shows Balian not being acquainted with
father, when actually Balian was not as illegitimate as the movie portrayed him to be. Also, Balian had
two brothers. Baldwin, his older brother was actually the one to fall in love with Sybilla. There is no
record of any type of romance between Balin and Sybilla. In the movie it portrays Sybilla as hating

The Ramifications of Government Reform on Education Essay
America currently ranks 36th in the world in regards to education. This encompasses reading, math,
and science. Education in the United States represents multiple achievement gaps across ethnicities,
income levels, and geography. There are many reasons as to why America ranks low. The curriculum
in the United States varies widely from district to district and stretches from state to state, which is one
of the major problems in why America compares greatly to that of other countries. For instance,
different schools offer different classes. In some schools classes that may be a requirement for
students might not even be an option for others at a school that may be right across town. This pertains
especially to public and private schools. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, states are required to develop assessments on basic skills. These assessments vary and can
be given on any subject with varying frequencies. Because the act does not enforce a national
achievement standard, each state develops its own standards. Therefore, the requirements,
expectations, and achievements are diverse.
The No Child Left Behind Act promotes the idea that competition between schools will increase the
efficiency and effectiveness of the education system. At the same time, the rhetoric of NCLB
maintains the progressive message of the Common School era (Aske, Connolly, Corman, 107) In
essence, it is contradictory. On the one hand the act wants competition so that students will learn more
and want to achieve more. However, it also wants all schools to be on the same level or playing field
so that they are equal. In order to achieve with competition some will have to be left behind, therefore
there is no real way to measure actual achievement with a common school ideal.

The Negative Impact Of Social Media And Politics
Social media has caused an uproar in recent times. Political figures such as President Trump, have
used social media to embarrass himself and the country, countless people lose jobs everyday due to
posts on social media, and Kids are influenced into making bad decisions because of trends. One of
the major key events in all of this is the development of Facebook . Facebook was one of the very first
platforms that allowed everyone to access it, ever since then, our modern lifestyle has been in a
decline. Social media is a common tool in modern life, however, it has caused many problems,
including a corruption in our political system, damaging careers, and having a negative impact on
children. With social media having such a value to society today, it is crucial to correct these errors in
social media.
Politics is one area where social media can change the entire country. When social media was
introduced in a political candidate, it turned the voting system into a game, as shown by the article
Social Media and Politics As easy as it is for politicians to reach out to voters on sites like Facebook, it
is even easier for these online supporters to abandon politicians when the campaign ends (Social
Media and Politics). By this, the author is stating that people who are influenced to vote by social
media are likely to stop their support of the candidate after they win. This means that voters no longer
care about the long term effect of a vote, after they vote they lose interest.

Maintaining Information Stored On A User Freedom Without...
Operating systems have to provide a level of security to allow a user freedom without someone seeing
them making a purchase online. An attacker would find that purchase made very valuable, they can
acquire that information. From threats and attacks which could allow sensitive information to be
looked at or taken. The idea of an OS having a built in security levels is now a very crucial task. This
helps to secure information to not be looked at. Securing information stored and allowing only certain
users to look at it are the main components to protect. Now, computers and technology are a part of
our everyday life that we do not see the protection happening in the background. To understand this
more, information that is stored in a database, on a computer, through emails and websites are all
examples of secure information. An OS needs to have different levels of security built in that helps
protect this sensitive information. For some users and companies, they have very personal information
stored on their computer. Even for a regular user, an email should not be read when it is sent to
someone. A computer stores what is sent, if an attacker was able to get past the password they would
get that information. Making purchases online with a credit card should not be found or easily
accessible. On a company s side, they could hold up to millions of user s personal information such as
social security numbers, and information about you. This paper will explore the Windows

Film comparison between Pirates of the Caribbean and Caption Blood
Pirate films goes back as far as the beginning of movie making, as far as the silent film era. These
types of films where heavily influenced by Piracy in the late 17th century, a period where all type of
goods and other items were imported and exported by way of ships. Determination plays a major role
in many peoples lives, whether they be fictional characters or historical figures. As displayed in the
films Captain Blood and Pirates of the Caribbean, determination acted as a great sense of motivation
for two main characters. In Michael Curtiz and Gore Verbinski s films, both directors portrayed Peter
Blood and Will Turner as men who were driven by love to go above and beyond in order to fulfill their
wish of being with their soul mates.
Seaborne trade was reliable and a cheap way of moving goods, however in many cases, it caused ships
to appear vulnerable, making them susceptible to being attacks by ... Show more content on

An individual would expect a pirate film to contain plenty of adventure, similar to Pirates of the
Caribbean the Curse of the Black Pearl. An audience could clearly see an exciting and thrilling
journey unfold at the beginning of the film. The main character Jack Sparrow, a witty and clever pirate
embarks on a journey to rescue the governor s daughter and recapture the magnificent ship once
belonged to him, the Black Pearl. To add extra interest to this movie the director included a romance
between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. Throughout the film these two characters protected one
another and had each other backs when there was danger. An example of this is when Will is trapped
in the boat and the water is filling up; Elizabeth attempts to save him but is taken back and held down

Obstacles Affecting Anadromous Fish Populations
Anadromous fishes reproduce in freshwater then their progeny migrate to the ocean where they grow
and mature then return to freshwater to reproduce. These fishes encounter numerous barriers during
their freshwater migration. Migration barriers (e.g. dams, water storage projects, irrigation diversions,
impassable culverts, etc.) are significant factors affecting most anadromous fish populations. The
primary effects of barriers on anadromous fishes are the reduction of their population abundance and
productivity through excessive mortality, and reduction in habitat quantity and quality (NMFS, 2008).
Towler et al. (2015) defines a fishway as hydraulic structures and devices that provide continuous
pathways for fish to move over or around otherwise impassable barriers. Many existing fishways were
designed for adult fish, and where present, adult salmonids. Designing fishways for a multiple species
is of growing interest in the United States, Canada, and other countries. However, rivers with greater
biodiversity require fish passage solutions that accommodate a wide range of fish sizes, swimming
abilities, and migration strategies (Bunt, et al., 2012).
Additionally, current fishway designs have been shown to possess attributes that hinder their ability to

This new hybrid design is intended to promote passage not only for adult anadromous salmonids but
also juvenile salmonids and non salmonid species. The end product of this analysis will be quantifying
the hydraulic performance characteristics in terms of velocity, turbulence, depth, flow type (plunging
or streaming), and energy dissipation over a range of passage flows, and determining where passage is
potentially possible for adult salmonids. This analysis will then be used to develop and calibrate
design models for full scale

The Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On The United States
Teen Pregnancy and the Link to Poverty in the U.S. with A Focus on Western Ma Especially Holyoke
and Springfield Mass
In the 1950s, the frequency of teenage births in the United States was already high, and since that,
time has decreased, although the number of births outside marriage has increased. Thus, in 1990 the
rate was 61.8 births, pregnancy rate 116.9 per 1,000. The incidence of teenage pregnancy has
decreased significantly in the 1990s. This decline is observed in all racial groups, but Teenagers,
African Americans and Hispanic teens remain higher frequency compared with Americans of
European and Asian origin. Guttmacher Institute, about 25% of this decline carried her share of sexual
abstinence and 75% on the effective use of contraceptives. However, in 2006 the first time in 14 years,
the incidence of teenage births has increased. This would imply that the incidence rates of teenage
pregnancy are also on the rise, but marked by the rise could be linked to other sources: for example,
reducing the number of abortions or a decrease in the number of abortions.
In 2002, the United States noted 53 teen births per 1,000 women aged 15 19 years, the highest among
developed countries. If all pregnancies, including those that ended in abortion or miscarriage, taken
into account that in 2000 the total value of the frequency of pregnancies accounted would be 75.4 per
1,000 adolescent women. State of Nevada and the District of Columbia have the highest rate of

Theresa Sauter in her article What s on your mind? Writing on Facebook as a tool for self formation
explores various instances on how updating profiles and statuses on Facebook can reveal self
formation with attachment to historical roots. The article explores past examples of self writing and
puts considerations on discontinuities and continuities between the modern and old practices. She
reports that the discontinuities presents non technologically and historically way of thinking about
new media technologies use in the modern societies that fully understands the users more than any
form of communication. Sauter argues that with inception of technological tools, social networking

In her analysis, she presents how history has influenced the modern self writing, and how the transfer
of the writing process has been intertwined with the modern technology systems. She presents
scenarios that make us believe that writing is not only an art of communication but a system used to
reveal oneself and understand self. The practice is as old as time and it is part of the human nature.
She has supported most of her arguments creatively, by using both the modern and old sources to
present a clear transition and connection that is encompassed in the art of writing for self formation.
For one to understand the present systems, it is important to dig deep into history (Fischhoff, 2013).
Sauter has creatively presented historical context of self writing in the past by exploring the ancient
Greek askesis. In her narration she has depended greatly on Foucault works to present the
philosophical aspect in the art of writing. Her chronological presentations provide a vivid
understanding on writing transition and its effect to the modern systems. She has also used Christian
confessional, romantic autobiography, liberation and transgression and Writing in psychology to
present a clear insight on writing and its effect on self formation (Sauter, 2014). Her discussions and
presentations are well structured to accommodate conflicting

Comparison Of Calista Roy s And Betty Neuman
Throughout nursing, there are many theories that nurses may come across and use. Calista Roy s and
Betty Neuman are two theorists that use two different types of models to encompasses the health,
person, and the environment. Callista Roy uses a theory that promotes adaptation to the stimuli a
person may encounter. Betty Neuman uses a theory that promotes equilibrium in a time where a
person will encounter stress. These theories allow the nurse to bring a knowledge to learn more about
the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there are different
approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the difference in
care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient.
Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive models
which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations (Hood,
2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A stimulus can
elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will allow the person to
cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but how the person deals
with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping. Roy describes that there are
two coping mechanisms that can affect our mind and also our body systems (Hood, 2014, p.134).

In This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War, Drew Gilpin Faust tells the story of
the Civil War while revealing the way the thousands of deaths changed the United States as a whole.
She presents this testimony of history by telling the eight main ways the Civil War changed the nation
while including countless forms of evidence. This paper will review Faust s historical narrative, the
book s evidence, as well as evaluating the quality of Faust s writing throughout the book. The purpose
of Drew Gilpin Faust writing this book remains incredibly clear as wanting to show the different ways
the Civil War directly affected the United States people and government. This purpose presented by
Faust is made obvious by the intelligent arguments and countless pieces of evidence to support the

Each chapter is divided up into one argument. These chapters include key pieces of information for
the reader to get a better understanding about the war and the affect it had on the nation. Through
evidence and accounts from people in the war, Faust shows how and why the country changed on both
the government and the citizen front. For the government, the war showed them the flaws in their
soldier responsibilities. Because of the war the government changed many different policies to deal
with death, created national cemeteries, implemented better identification and numbering systems, as
well as worked out different programs to take care of the soldier s families. For citizens the war
changed their ways of mourning, thinking of the afterlife, their views on religion, their process of
burial, as well as their amount of respect each person held for the soldiers in the war. The author
makes clear that without the war many of the tactics and ideals the country has in place today would
not be the same without the Civil

Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman
The first half of Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman begins with the interaction between a
Northern white male and the conventional portrayal of a slave. In the novel an old ex plantation slave,
Julius, recounts stories that he says he heard as a child. The audience of the stories is the white
Northern male, who is the narrator of the story, and his sickly wife, Annie. The stories are told for
many purposes but my favorite reason behind the telling of the tales is Julius attempt and in most
cases achievement to acquire several things by this sly action.

occurring. Julian tells of how two slaves are in love with one another, Sandy and Tenie, but Sandy is
passed around to different plantations because of his great work. Tenie decides that to keep them
together she can turn him into a tree. He becomes a tree but one day Tenie is away in town taking care
of someone and the tree is cut down to make the past owner s wife. The rumor began that one is able
to hear moans from the lumber in the newly built kitchen. It ends up that Tenie dies on the floor of the
kitchen and the narrator, John, believes that the story is unbelievable while Annie seems to be worried
about the outcome of the black couples love. The whole story is initiated with the narrator saying he is
going to make the old schoolyard into the kitchen. Julian then chimes in that it is a bad idea because it
is haunted and then it shows immediately following the story Julian is holding church meetings in the
supposed haunted schoolhouse that no one should be alone in.

Gravitational Potential Energy Lab Report
Purpose:
To find out the relationship between gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, and total
mechanical energy of a cart as it rolls down a ramp
Hypothesis:
If the cart rolls down the ramp with constant speed, then the kinetic energy will get bigger, the
gravitational potential energy will decrease, and the total mechanical energy will stay at the same
constant value, because due to the law of Conservation of Energy, these are the estimated results.
Materials/Apparatus: ramp (1) textbooks (3/4) meter stick (1) motion sensor (1) cart (1)
GLX system
Procedures:
The ramp was raised at a 8.4 degree angle using 3 textbooks
The length and the height of the ramp was measured using a meter stick
The motion sensor was placed on the top of the ramp. The cart was placed near the notion sensor and
released
As the cart rolled down the ramp, the position time graph of the cart was recored
One point near the end of the graph was chosen and was represented by its d2 and the reference point,
which was used to determine the height of the cart. (this point was kept throughout the whole
experiment)
The equation h = d (h/L) was used to calculate the height of the cart on the ramp
The slope tool was used to determine the speed at any point
The position and the speed was determined using the point near the start if the graph

As Toronto was frequently referred to as the country s finance and business capital, these business professionals often worked long hours and considered Friday nights as an opening to get out and socialize. Generally this age group will have more money than the price sensitive students and will most likely be able to afford the $2 price increase of which Martin was considering. • 3. The Problem Of Information Security And Security It s fair to say the environment of the healthcare industry is always in the midst of constant turmoil. The industry is a complex equation built on ever changing government programs, rapid advances in medicine and technology, and new business combinations between and among health care providers and payers. Leaders of a healthcare organization must be equipped to adapt to the continuous chaos or face defeat. Information security and privacy is a fundamental component of a successful and efficient healthcare environment. The coming year will be a busy one for lawyers, compliance officers, privacy officers, and senior management as they must stay above the game when it comes to privacy and security. I will explore three trending issues and concerns relating to healthcare privacy and security. My hot topics include the use of big data and its implication, the evolving risks of cyber security, and health research and de identification. As we have discussed in class, the big data revolution is hitting the healthcare sector hard. Hospitals, managed care organizations, and other providers are creating significant value in analyzing data from a multitude of sources with much of the information not previously thought of as healthcare data. What exactly does this mean? Well, healthcare companies are gathering data such as gym membership lapses, food shopping habits, clothing shopping, income, marital status, and even the number of cars (Bloomberg.com, 2014; Singer, 2014). ... • 4. Endgame By Samuel Beckett Essay The mood and attitude of Samuel Beckett s 1957 play, Endgame, are reflective of the year of its conception. The history that reflects directly on the play itself is worth sole attention. In that year, the world was a mixed rush of Cold War fear, existential reason, and race to accomplishment (Garraty 307). Countries either held a highlighted concern with present wartime/possibility of war, or involvement with the then sprouting movement of Existentialism. The then absurdist theater reflected the values and concerns of the modern society (Petty). The accomplishments of man, such as the Soviet launching of both Sputnik satellites, sparked international competition. 1957 was not a year of unification and worldly brotherhood, it was a time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In October, they successfully launched Sputnik I, the world s first artificial satellite (Stiefel 157). As a follow up achievement, in November Sputnik II was launched, carrying a dog named Laika to study adaptation to space. A heavy news highlight, which could be seen as integrated meaning into the macabre situations of the characters in the play, was that Laika did not survive the accomplishment of space travel (Cold War). Soviet technological know how introduced new international competition in space exploration and missile capability. The Soviet Premier, Nikita Khruschev, had emerged from the post Stalin interregnum as the new leader, and was eager to fan the flames of American/Soviet relations. Although the missile that launched both Sputnik satellites was too primitive for military deployment, Kruschev claimed that long range missiles were rolling off the assembly line like sausages , a lie that allowed US President Eisenhower s opponents to perceive a missile gap (Garraty 329 332). Kruschev tried to gain control over the gap in a series of crises, but his motives proved faulty and in turn provoked reactions in China, the United States, and Europe which hurt his own political support in the Soviet Union (Stiefel 160). Elsewhere in the world, other nations experienced tumultuous inter relational struggles. In Arab countries, political and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Maslow s Hierarchy Of Human Needs In Cast Away In the movie Castaway, Chuck Nolan not only survives the island with nothing for four years, but he also demonstrates Maslow s Hierarchy of Human Needs while he is there. This movie explains Physiological, Safety, love belonging, esteem, and self actualization being made all on one island. Chuck Nolan was the main character and he drifted away 500 miles on an island. The main thing he was missing on the island was the love of his life, kelly. The first stage he showed was Physiological. This is because it is all the basic needs you must have such as food, water, and shelter. Nolan uses this throughout his time on the island. He finds tree branches and makes fishing rod to catch his food. Chuck also uses the raft he had from the plane to get to this island, as a bed and his shelter for when the storms would come. When he he was walking around in the water, he came across a cave, where he then used it as his other home for more warmth and more safety. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he went exploring on the island, he used the dress from the Fedex plane, to wrap around his feet as shoes, so he did not hurt his feet. For safety, Chuck also used the life boat when the plane crashed so he did not have to float in the ocean with nothing. Nolan used the cave for safety as well, when the storms came since it was much sturdier than the plastic raft above his head. The third stage he showed was Love and Belonging. This stage was shown a lot. The picture he carried everywhere of kelly showed this because he loved her a lot, and she was his purpose to keep trying, so he could see her again. I also saw this when he made friends with Wilson, the volleyball. He never wanted to be alone, treated him like he was a human and made sure he was okay when he left the island. Another love and belonging I noticed was when he saw the captains dead body wash up on shore, he ran up to him, carried him to land, and made him a funeral showing his love for a ... Elan Fenderson ESP 607 Test Battery Autism Autism is a developmental disability that presents at an early age (typically under the age of three years) that can affect a child s educational performance. Child and adults can have deficiencies in communication, social skills, and using language. People with autism tend to engage in motor/vocal stereotypy. The spectrum for autism has a wide range from mild to severe. To determine where a child falls on the spectrum many assessments can be administered. If a child is believed to be on the spectrum, a CARS2 assessment may be issued. He WAS suffering from dementia but that wasn t what killed him, it was asphyxiation! many would say, but the real cold killer is Lewy Body Dementia that s exactly what he was secretly suffering from. Folks who do not know what Lewy Body Dementia is would just shrug it off as just another name for dementia, but actually it is the other way around. My personal childhood friend, even though we never met, he touched my heart along with so many other before me, that he has entertained, in his life. The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife Musical Culture The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of computer technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST s). These all fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough. Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for sequencing. Buchla said, you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a bunch of other ideas (Pinch, 2004, p.40). It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic instrument, and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed duophony possible on synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized sound with sliders. By the mid 1970 s, well known companies like Sequential Circuits and Yamaha had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be introduced to the electronic music scene. One ... In the short story, the scarlet ibis, by James Hurst, the scarlet ibis is a symbol for Doodle because it represents him in life, in person, and in death. One example of the scarlet ibis symbolizing doodle is the fact that both the Scarlet Ibis and Doodle are out of place. There was an epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no deaths, which show there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were badly kept so the houses were most likely dirty. The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the sources these show lots of lawlessness in towns and murdering. One source shows a bank robbery, this is proof that the towns did not have any policing. The source shows also that a few vigilantes on the scene, further proof that the towns were lawless. Vigilantes were present because of the lack of law that there was in the towns. They felt it necessary that law had to be imposed on the town other wise it could fall apart. Another source shows a notice from vigilantes pinned to a man hung for murder. This is useful because it shows the vigilantes taken the law into there own hands. It also states the reasons for the vigilantes forming, it tells us that life and security is too sacred to not be protected so they will resort to these means even if it means killing ... • 12. Ethanol Pollution W. Patzek 2005, 324). When those chemicals are released in ethanol fumes they are released in the air and are inhaled by people around the cars. The New York Department of health (NYDH) reports that, ammonia is irritating and corrosive. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in air causes immediate burning of the nose, throat and respiratory tract (NYHD 2005). The use of fertilizers in corn production makes ethanol even worse than gasoline. Patzek states, the air is more polluted with the use of ethanol, and more health hazards are introduced with agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, and by the waste water streams (Tad W. Patzek 2005, 325). Ethanol is not a clean fuel, and it is causing more pollution than gasoline does. Ethanol strains corn consumption, because corn is so important that it is used for so many different things. Animal feed is mostly made of corn and corn silage. Ethanol causes shortages in other crops like corn and cotton. On top of that, ethanol is not only not a good fuel, but it isn t a clean soil, adding health risks by releasing toxic chemical fumes. With all those factors ethanol should not be used or even produced. The Solution Ethanol production numbers continue to rise and it is causing a problem. • 13. Positive And Negative Consequences Of Repealing The Jones Act Cost Analysis: I firmly believe, repealing the jones act would certainly make American economy prosperous. In this section I will bolster my opinion by analyzing some positive and negative consequences of repealing the act in terms of cost, economic impact, and national safety. Positive Consequences of repealing Jones act: Repealing the Jones Act could benefit the American economy, as it is cheaper to build ships outside USA and hiring foreign crew Building ships in America is certainly costly affair. It could cost five times more than the ship built outside USA due high labor rates. Thus, repealing the jones act, means American companies can lookout for cheaper options and buy vessels made in foreign countries at cheaper rates. Wages for foreign crews are substantially lower than American crews. American crews cost nearly 4.5 times more than foreign crews. These wages make up nearly 75 percent of the operating cost difference between the two. If foreign shippers were permitted to enter the U.S. market, American companies would be forced to compete, and lower both their wages and prices to more reasonable levels. Cost of living would be significantly cheaper in states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico Currently people from states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico have to spend a lot of money to get goods due to higher freight transportation rates imposed by the Jones act. For example, it costs about $750 to ship a 45 foot container from Los Angeles to Shanghai, but it costs $8,500 to ship the same container from Los Angeles to Honolulu. This means that it costs 11 times more money to ship something to some domestic locations than international ones. Thus, repealing jones act, the cost of living in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico would decrease greatly as residents would not have to spend as much money to get goods, from mainland America or from a foreign nation. Economic boost for American Industries Relaxing the Jones Act would lead to an economic boost for many industries across the nation, and provide more goods at lower prices for American consumers. However, many Americans re simply unaware of the impact that the extra shipping costs of the Jones Act has on their lives, and therefore efforts to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obstacles Affecting Anadromous Fish Populations Anadromous fishes reproduce in freshwater then their progeny migrate to the ocean where they grow and mature then return to freshwater to reproduce. These fishes encounter numerous barriers during their freshwater migration. Migration barriers (e.g. dams, water storage projects, irrigation diversions, impassable culverts, etc.) are significant factors affecting most anadromous fish populations. The primary effects of barriers on anadromous fishes are the reduction of their population abundance and productivity through excessive mortality, and reduction in habitat quantity and quality (NMFS, 2008). Towler et al. (2015) defines a fishway as hydraulic structures and devices that provide continuous pathways for fish to move over or around otherwise impassable barriers. Many existing fishways were designed for adult fish, and where present, adult salmonids. Designing fishways for a multiple species is of growing interest in the United States, Canada, and other countries. A stimulus can elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will allow the person to cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). With Each new setting there is at least one new character development. A new setting in each part of the story makes for diverse settings and characters. From a train leaving San Antonio to around the corner in a small town in Texas, a drunken gunslinger to negro waiters, this story has it all. This story begins on a train specifically in a parlor car. This is where Jack Potter and his new bride are first introduced though his name is not yet given and hers never is. The story never informs the reader if they then stay in the dining car for the rest of the trip or return to the parlor car for this reason I will assume that they have remained seated in the dining car until the porter, a stock character used only for further detail in the proceedings leading up to getting off the train, is introduced. Soon after the porter enters the train reaches Yellow Sky and Potter sees the station agent outside with a ?slightly hurried and anxious air ,? (246) this should hint to Potter that something is not right in his little town, but he is too concerned with his ?betrayal? to his town. Part two begins in Yellow Sky at the Weary Gentleman saloon, it is 3:21 PM. The first person introduced is the drummer who is talking and being quite sociable to people who could care less if he was there. There are two Mexican herders, stock characters, and three Texans, stock characters only providing background information on, at the bar, the barkeeper?s dog is outside. A young man that is never named enters the bar announcing that Scratchy Wilson is drunk and armed and at this point the drummer is unconcerned and simply offers him a drink. Everyone else in the bar though is worried and the bar keeper closes and bars the door and windows. When the Texans are telling about Scratchy we find out that Jack Potter is the town marshal. • 33. Essay on Charles W. Chestnutt’s The Conjure Woman Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman The first half of Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman begins with the interaction between a Northern white male and the conventional portrayal of a slave. In the novel an old ex plantation slave, Julius, recounts stories that he says he heard as a child. The audience of the stories is the white Northern male, who is the narrator of the story, and his sickly wife, Annie. The stories are told for many purposes but my favorite reason behind the telling of the tales is Julius attempt and in most cases achievement to acquire several things by this sly action. From the time that Julian the slave meets John, the Northerner and narrator, the stories begin to roll off his tongue. Julian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the stories where Julius is able to get something he desires is the one of Po Sandy. The drastic love story and conjuring magic are just enough to distract the couple from perceiving what is occurring. Julian tells of how two slaves are in love with one another, Sandy and Tenie, but Sandy is passed around to different plantations because of his great work. Tenie decides that to keep them together she can turn him into a tree. He becomes a tree but one day Tenie is away in town taking care of someone and the tree is cut down to make the past owner s wife. The rumor began that one is able to hear moans from the lumber in the newly built kitchen. It ends up that Tenie dies on the floor of the kitchen and the narrator, John, believes that the story is unbelievable while Annie seems to be worried about the outcome of the black couples love. The whole story is initiated with the narrator saying he is going to make the old schoolyard into the kitchen. Julian then chimes in that it is a bad idea because it is haunted and then it shows immediately following the story Julian is holding church meetings in the supposed haunted schoolhouse that no one should be alone in. ... • 34. Representation Of Male Chicano Identity In Zoot Suit Explore the representation of male Chicano identity as seen in Zoot Suit. Zoot Suit, (1981) is an adaptation to film of the Broadway show by Chicano writer/director Luis Valdez, and the film helped cement Valdez place as one of, if not the most important figureheads within Chicano film. The picture depicts whilst also questioning media documentation of the real life Sleepy Lagoon trial of young male Mexican Americans born out of the Zoot Suit riots in 1942. This seminal period of Mexican American history is often overlooked and it is a deliberate choice by Valdez as he opts to socially comment on the injustice faced at the time when Chicano culture was in its beginnings, symbolised by the rebellious fashion statement ... Yet simultaneously the Chicanos are presented as trying to forge their own identity and make their own mark within society. They are presented as brothers, fathers and friends, the fact they were acquitted of their supposed crimes proves the type of people these Chicano men were young, and trying to find their place in a society which rejects them for being themselves cultural identity is a matter of becoming as well as being. • 35. Gravitational Potential Energy Lab Report Purpose: To find out the relationship between gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, and total mechanical energy of a cart as it rolls down a ramp Hypothesis: If the cart rolls down the ramp with constant speed, then the kinetic energy will get bigger, the gravitational potential energy will decrease, and the total mechanical energy will stay at the same constant value, because due to the law of Conservation of Energy, these are the estimated results. Materials/Apparatus: ramp (1) textbooks (3/4) meter stick (1) motion sensor (1) cart (1) GLX system Procedures: The ramp was raised at a 8.4 degree angle using 3 textbooks The length and the height of the ramp was measured using a meter stick The motion sensor was placed on the top of the ramp. The cart was placed near the notion sensor and released As the cart rolled down the ramp, the position time graph of the cart was recored One point near the end of the graph was chosen and was represented by its d2 and the reference point, which was used to determine the height of the cart. (this point was kept throughout the whole experiment) The equation h = d (h/L) was used to calculate the height of the cart on the ramp The slope tool was used to determine the speed at any point The position and the speed was determined using the point near the start if the graph These values were used to complete the first row The other positions from the graph were used to complete the next three rows Observations: ...
