The Basic Parts That Make Up A Computer
Lawson City
Since you are looking to upgrade or purchase a new set of computers, I would like to discuss the basic
parts that make up a computer. It is important for everyone to have a basic understanding of what
makes a computer. As technology advances, it s important that you be able to make an educated
decision on whether to upgrade or to replace your current systems. The difference can be a good deal
of your hard earned money. Therefore, I will be detailing the Operating System, Processor, Memory,
RAM, and a few other things that will help you make good decisions when purchasing new machines.
Let s start with the Operating System. Chris Woodford describes the operating system as the core
software in a computer that (essentially) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These computers date back to DOS, and Windows NT. Now we have multicore Processors, which
allow us to run two or more tasks at the same time. Of course now days, you can surf the internet,
write a word document, while listening to your favorite playlist on iTunes. We have come a really long
way.
The next thing we will discuss is Memory. Your hard drive allows you to store all the applications,
programs, pictures, and any other data that you might like to save on your machine. Hard drives now
come in many different sizes depending on your needs. They range from 100 GB to 3.9 Terabytes. The
average home computer has 500 GB of memory. We also have Solid State Drives which are said to be
more reliable because there is no spinning mechanism to worry about possibly failing.
Now we must discuss the RAM (Random Access Memory). Even though this is wiped clean every
time you shut down your computer, your random access memory stores the location of that data.
Because of this, the CPU doesn t need to go back out to the address bus and find the data s location on
your hard drive. It s like going to the library. If you need to know the definition of a word, you don t
need to get up repeatedly, walk over to the shelf with the dictionary and open it to the corresponding
page. Instead you can just take the dictionary off of the shelf and keep it at the table until you are
done. Your RAM does the exact same thing, thus speeding up the process.

Praxis In Relation To The Practitioner Inquiry
2. Praxis in relation to the practitioner inquiry As educators, we regularly take an action and
considering the impact of the action. Then we analysing the results of the action by reflecting upon it
and critically evaluate our professional knowledge and the effectiveness of our teaching. Further, we
are altering and revising conceptions and planning following reflection. Finally, we are implementing
these plans in further actions. In this process, teachers work collaboratively with other members of the
profession and engage in discussion of contemporary issues and research to improve professional
practice. Many educators are involved with praxis but it often isn t part of their vocabulary. Without
knowing the concept (inquiry as praxis), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During my inquiry, I considered theories when planning, taking action, reflecting, evaluating and
finally documenting. Sometimes we can feel pressure to handle disruptive behaviours immediately.
Taking the time to understand the behaviour and to consider various options often results in a more
constructive resolution. After an event is past, taking the time to evaluate the effectiveness of our
response can help to improve our reaction in the next situation (Kuhlenschmidt Layne, 1999). During
my inquiry, I made questions about student behaviour and made assumptions. As an example student
behaviour during Friday, last period was really disruptive. I assumed, that may be their energy supply
is low or excitement about the weekend (mood). Discussion with teachers proved me this was a very
common experience. Research showed that It s natural for student attention levels to vary according to
motivation, mood, perceived relevance of the material, and other factors (Briggs, 2014). Based on my
understandings, knowledge, readings and other experts ideas, I developed an action plan for behaviour
management in year 8

Baylor University Personal Statement
I have known for a long time that Baylor is where I belong. While I have repeatedly seen the Lord
open doors for me to be able to attend my dream school, I never would have expected to receive the
opportunity to attend an event like Invitation to Excellence. Not only was the event a chance to
improve my financial situation, but it showcased Baylor University s personality and important
aspects of patient care. Invitation to Excellence provided insights into the healthcare profession,
interpersonal experiences, friendships, opportunities, and chances to think critically. Every student
attending this event has shown they are a leader in and out of the classroom. When multiple leaders

The Life Of The Beach
NOT for nothing did the Beach Boys produce all that wonderful music in the 1960s. If you have ever
visited California, you will realise pretty quickly that the state in which they grew up was what
inspired those great sounds. It is the state of the beautiful people. Everybody seems to be laidback
about life and yet most Californians are obsessed with exercise, keeping fit and keeping their looks for
as long as possible (whether it be through botox or going under the knife). Everybody, it seems, goes
out for a run. And yet, they will climb into a car to go to a shopping mall 100 yards down the road.
The climate is wonderful, and if you are able to get behind the wheel of a convertible and drive along
the Pacific Coast Highway with Barbara Ann, I Can Hear Music, Sloop John B or Surfin Safari blaring
and the stunning views of the ocean at hand then you will be able to die happy. It was on my bucket
list and I have done it. There is nothing to beat it. I have also played golf in California and I ve got to
tell you that it is something you have to experience. There is very little rain in this part of the world
but it is the greenest state in America, with everybody who lives there into recycling and conserving
water and energy. To keep their greens and fairways in perfect condition, most of the golf courses use
either reconstituted water or water that has gone through a desalienation plant. And they do a great
job, too. Course architects also use a resilient blend of

Driver Responsibility Program Analysis
According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state of
Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket
offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual
surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without
insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their
license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers
aren t automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point
system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three year period, a
surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver s license. Even for those who know
about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It requires
applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an income
tax form.
Bill Lewis testified on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving , an organization that supported the
program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist the
millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is
unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion dollars
billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. The reason for this law is, Texans
has come up with a reliable revenue for trauma hospitals, YƔƱez Correa (TCJC) said. They need
money to pay for care, but not at the back of Texans who are barely making it. ... Show more content

King Henry V Character Analysis Essay
The mercy that was quick in us but late/ By your own counsel is suppressed and killed. / You must not
dare, for shame, to talk of mercy, (2.2.85 87). In Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry V, uses multiple
personas towards certain people to gain the French throne. He justifies his right to the French throne
by his descent from French royalty through the female line. Henry is still being seen as his young self
and uses role play to prove that he is worthy of the French throne. Henry s role playing is for the
purpose of gaining the French throne. Henry manipulates his soldiers and opponents for his selfish
want of the throne. Henry uses different personas while giving speeches and physically disguising
himself to gain the French throne. Henry, in preparation of the battle at Harfleur, portrays a friendly
persona to rally his troops. Henry goes to France to fight and declines an offer of useless dukedoms
and their princess. He declines the offer, because he wants the throne and is dedicated to get it. At
Harfleur, Henry encourages his troops by saying, Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more,
/ Or close the wall up with our English dead! (3.3.1 3). Henry calls his troops his friends and
encourages them to continue the battle and try their hardest to fight for England and win. Henry
concludes his speech saying, Follow your spirit, and upon this charge/ Cry God for Harry, England,
and Saint George! (3.1.36 37). Henry allows his troops to call him Harry and keeps his troops spirits
alive to go on and fight in Harfleur. Encouraging the king s troops helps the soldiers know why they
should be fighting in the war and makes them feel patriotic for England. Henry rallying his troops,
manipulates them to try their hardest and win the battle, which gets Henry a step closer to have the
French throne. Henry rallying his troops in a friendly way, makes his troops feel more patriotic and
gets them to want to fight at Harfleur for England. Henry tries to portray himself either as a major
threat and merciful to the soldiers of Harfleur. A parley is sounded and Henry gives a speech to the
soldiers of Harfleur telling them to surrender and if they do not surrender, what Henry will do to
Harfleur, which

Shanghai Offers An Eclectic Range Of Scenes
Shanghai offers an eclectic range of scenes including but not limited to those with large influences
from western cultures. The Bund has become the most iconic feature of the city that fits this
description and ranks at the around the top of the list for must see places for the whole country.
Currently, its peculiar architecture entices tourists from all over the world for sightseeing, shopping,
and adventure. In less than a century from the mid 1800 s to the mid 1900s, the area along the
Huangpu River has changed in a dramatic but gradual fashion logistically, culturally, economically,
and architecturally. What was once just a small port center soon would transform into a global
metropolitan attraction. When the harbor finally opened to international trade in 1843 with the signing
of the Treaty of Nanjing, there was no special infrastructure for junks and sampans (the boats used at
that time). It was only on the eastern gate was there some kind of embankment for ships; otherwise the
riverbank was just used as it was. This all would soon change, as the foreign enclaves would slowly
modernize the Bund. However during the first few decades of Shanghai s international influence it did
not seem like the Bund would turn into a famous international icon anytime soon. In the following
paragraphs are small but noteworthy glimpses into each foreign enclave over this time period. In the
English Settlement the land regulations that were approved by the Chinese authorities prohibited

Project Energy Efficient Database Management Systems Essay
Abstract Energy is a growing component of the operational cost for many data intensive deployments.
A large number of efforts have been made in the field of energy efficient computing at various levels
ranging from individual hardware components, system software and to applications.
In this paper, I have described the concept of energy efficiency problem and recent techniques to
design energy efficient database management systems. I have broadly classified recent research into
three categories: hardware based, software based and cluster based database designs. Last section of
paper includes a description of power models used for evaluation of energy efficiency solutions.
Section 1
Introduction
Data center industry supporting internet has become world s largest consumer of energy. In 2013,
nearly three million computer rooms in US used enough energy to power all the households in New
York for two years, equivalent to the annual output of 34 large coal fired power plants[1]. Direct
monthly energy costs for data centers make up around 23% of the total amortized monthly operating
costs [19].
This data revolution has led to an exponential growth in digital data making database management
systems (DBMS) one of the major energy consumers in data centers. Enterprise server systems
reportedly operated on over 9 zettabytes (1 zettabyte = 1021 bytes) of data in 2008 [2], with data
volumes doubling every 12 to 18 months. Businesses such as Amazon and Wal Mart heavily rely

Title: Is the Use of deception in social science research on human participants justified? By Noel
Matea, University of Waikato, New Zealand, 2011.
Introduction
The ethical issue in human subjects research continues to receive greater attention within the research
ethics literature and the wider academia. A particular ethical issue that continues to draw controversy
is the use of deception in social science research involving human subjects. The question of whether
deception can be ethically justified is always at the forefront of the deception debate. While some
argue that the use of deception, whether intentional or not, carries a considerable potential risk and
harm for research subjects, others however, stresses that some ... Show more content on

Not only that but concealing the true purpose of research from research subjects limit their knowledge
needed to make effective judgements to make a decision to consent (Bulmer, 1982; Baumrind, 1985;

In the mid 1960s Laud Humphreys carried out a study of male homosexuals in tearooms in the United
States (Humphreys, 1970). The tearoom is a name given to a public restroom where male
homosexuals reputedly use for various deviant encounters. Humphreys carry out the study through
various means. He first assumes a participant observation method where he misrepresents his identity
and knowledge of his research. He establishes himself within the cycle of his subjects and took up the
role of a voyeur or watchqueen to lookout for strangers and policemen while his subjects carry out
their activities (Humphreys, 1970). He concealed a tape recorder in his car and from time to time
make recordings of his observations. He recorded his subjects car registration numbers and uses it to
track them down to their home addresses. While conducting his study Humphreys was also
responsible to carry out a social health survey on a random sample of males in the community where
he lives. He interviews some of his subjects by posing as a social health survey officer. To ensure his
identity is not recognized he waited for a year before changing his dress code, hairstyle and car and

Conclusion and Suggestions to Remedy Issues Caused by Poor Nutrition
Abstract
We are a group of students at California State University of Northridge who found common interest in
the topic of child nutrition. By applying the core functions of public health, we were able to analyze
how poor child nutrition led to more serious problems such as chronic diseases and obesity. We found
out that there is plenty of data that proves obesity is caused by poor nutrition and ultimately has led to
poor health. As our group researched on the topic and related it to public health, we have concluded
that there is a relation between child nutrition and obesity. Solutions for the problem of obesity are
suggested to conclude the essay. It is important to understand that nutrition and health are always
closely related, and that child nutrition should especially be monitored closely as children are the
future of our homes, communities, and the nation.
Child Nutrition
Good nutrition is important for everyone in every age group. It is an essential part of leading a healthy
lifestyle, not only physically but also mentally. In public health, child nutrition is especially
emphasized for multiple reasons. First, children are

The Effects Of Facebook On Society By Yvette Vickers
The effects of Facebook on Society Yvette Vickers, a former Playboy playmate and Hollywood horror
movie star would have been 86 in this year, but nobody exactly knows how old she was at the time of
her death! According to the coroner s report, she was died for a long time ago before her neighbor

of letters in her mailbox. She reached through a broken window to unlock the door and she reached
upstairs, she found Vickers s mummified boy near a heater that was running at that time. Near the
body, Vickers s computer was also running. The Los Angeles Times posted a story, which quickly
went viral throughout the country. Within two weeks, Vickers s lonesome death was already the
subject to thousands of Facebook posts and tweets. She had long been a horror movie icon, now she
was an icon of a different kind of horror, our growing fear of loneliness. Certainly she received much
more attention after her death than she did in the end years of her life. With no children, no religious
group, and no immediate social circle of any kind, she had begun to look elsewhere for
companionship. Vickers had made calls not to friends or family but to distant fans whom she found
through fan conventions and Internet sites. Though her web of connections had grown broader but it

On 10 August 2001 at about 3.00pm, the sun was shining and there were only a few clouds on the sky.
I decided to go out for a walk, so I took my car and drove to a big forest in Schouweiler. There are no
streets near the forest, so I walked about 1 km to reach it. After an hour I was deep inside the forest so
I decided to go home. But suddenly I heard a little noise. I turned around, but I didn t see anything. A
few seconds later I heard a sound of breaking branches, I looked around and I saw a dark figure
standing a few meters behind me. It was about 2m (6 foot 6 inches) tall, dark haired and very big. I

Essay about Inbevā€™s Buyout
The article, This Bud May Be for the Belgians, discusses InBev s buyout of Budweiser. Discuss the
value of the brand from a consumer perspective. Some of you may not be beer drinkers, or drink any
alcohol, but you are still a part of a culture where beer drinking is an identifiable lifestyle component,
so you should be able to provide some perspective. Some things to consider are Budweiser s targeted
blue collar market segment, its country of origin, and our nationalistic pride of ownership. Switch
perspectives a bit, and consider how international consumers might value the quintessential American
beer. Do you think that coming from the US enhances the value to overseas customers? Why or why

Similar to the US, introduction of this campaign in Russia also led to strengthening Budweiser s image
with respect to its heritage and its role in consumers social life. Significant improvements were
observed on several attributes. This campaign was also able to touch a chord with consumers in the
UK, where an increase was noticed on the very same attributes as well.
Reintroducing Budweiser in this optimistic light has aided in generating a universal positive
impression of Budweiser among consumers globally. Not only has it improved consumers perceptions
of the brand, but has also helped curb the over two decade decline in sales in Bud s home market of
United States as well as has fueled growth in international markets, making it truly the first successful
Global beer brand.
Hence, I believe that Bud InBev has added equity to the company and is well on its way in
accomplishing a significant turn around for Budweiser. Not only is the Anticipation campaign working
to halt historical declines by driving reappraisal for the brand in the US, it is also making significant
progress towards our dream of establishing Budweiser as the world s first truly global beer brand. A
meticulous approach to brand building and respect for strongly rooted research has been the fuel for a
powerful campaign built on a universal emotion.

Rust Vs Wild Fly
Phenotypic expression of the mutation is isolated to the eyes of adult flies, with no differences
observed in developmental stages. The feature characteristic is eye color: mutant adults express a
darker, reddish brown color in contrast to the wild type red eye. Additionally, no pseudopupil is
observed in mutants. However this may be due to the darker eye color obscuring visibility of a
pseudopupil. Newly eclosed flies express a lighter mutant phenotype than older flies. The mutation is
nicknamed Rust due to the similarities between iron oxide, a reddish brown compound that forms and
darkens after exposure to oxygen, and the mutant eye color following eclosion. Male and female
mutant flies show no differences in phenotype aside from sexual dimorphism. Figure 1 shows the

Analytics Is The Discovery, Interpretation, And...
Analytics is the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data.
Especially valuable in areas rich with recorded information, analytics relies on the simultaneous
application of statistics, computer programming and operations research to quantify performance.
Analytics often favours data visualization to communicate insight. Organizations may apply analytics
to business data to describe, predict, and improve business performance. Specifically, areas within
analytics include analytics, prescriptive, enterprise decision management, retail analytics, store
assortment and stock keeping unit optimization, marketing optimization and marketing mix modelling,
web analytics, sales force sizing and optimization, price and promotion modelling, predictive science,
credit risk analysis, and fraud analytics. [1]
The importance of analytics
Analytics is a quantitative fact and data based approach to decision making with an emphasis on
prediction and optimization. Historically, when organizations have used business intelligence [BI],
they have focused more on reporting, which is a backward looking activity. Analytics lead you to look

Causes Of Poverty In Honduras
Living a life in Honduras is dreadful because research has shown that in 2016, 66 percent of the
population of Honduras lived in poverty according to official data. Honduras also has one of the
highest murder rates in the world, and the homicide rate in 2016 was 59 per 100,000. Which means
that every 100,000 people living in Honduras 59 Hondurans will die every year. The numbers of the
homicide rate in Honduras is ten times higher than global averages, and it is also 12 times higher than
United States averages. One of the factors that breed crime is poverty because in Honduras there are
limited jobs, as well as, inadequate wages, as a consequence, those workers don t have enough money
to buy food for the entire family. Therefore those people join crime organizations to be able to feed
their family by taking from others. After researching various articles, I found out that the one who is
responsible for all the chaos that is happening in Honduras is the government of Honduras. The
government of Honduras is a problem for the country because within the government there is political
corruption. Since the corrupt politicians are abusing their power for evil it s having a negative impact
for the people who are living in Honduras. Numerous people don t know this, but, it s common to see
corrupt leaders working for the government in Central America countries such as Honduras.

The And Finance Executives When It Is A Financing Option...
There are many misperceptions among CFOs and finance executives when it comes to asset based
lending (ABL). The biggest is that ABL is a financing option of last resort one that only desperate
companies that can t qualify for a traditional bank loan or line of credit would consider.
With the economic downturn and resulting credit crunch of the past few years, though, many
companies that might have qualified for more traditional forms of bank financing in the past have
instead turned to ABL. And to their surprise, many have found ABL to be a flexible and cost effective
financing tool.
What ABL Looks Like
A typical ABL scenario often looks something like this: A business has survived the recession and
financial crisis by aggressively managing receivables and inventory and delaying replacement capital
expenditures. Now that the economy is in recovery (albeit a weak one), it needs to rebuild working
capital in order to fund new receivables and inventory and fill new orders.
Unfortunately, the business no longer qualifies for traditional bank loans or lines of credit due to high
leverage, deteriorating collateral and/or excessive losses. From the bank s perspective, the business is
no longer creditworthy, remarks John Barrickman, the president of New Horizons Financial Group, a
financial services industry consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, Ga.
Even businesses with strong bank relationships can run afoul of loan covenants if they suffer short
term losses,

Tyrants, Dictators, and Democrats
Kim Jong il Kim Jong il was the supreme leader of North Korea from July of 1994 until his untimely
death on December 17th, 2011. His reign as dictator is defined by most as successful but he will go
down as one of the most dangerous dictators the world has ever seen. The people of North Korea
looked up to Kim Jong il as a god like figure. No one really knows the exact year that Kim Jong il was
born. He was born in either 1941 or 1942 in Vyatskoye, Soviet Union. His birth name is actually not
Kim Jong il it is Yuri Irsenovich Kim. His father, Kim Il sung was a commander of the Soviet 88th
brigade. Kim Jong il did not move to Pyongyang, North Korea until 1945 after World War II has
ended. Kim Jong il s rise to power began in July of 1961 when he joined the Workers Party, which is
the official ruling party of North Korea (Biography). The beliefs of the Workers Party were based off
of Stalinst Russia before Kim Jong il and Kim Il sung expanded on those beliefs. Kim Jong il
eventually was elected as head of the Workers Party Central Committee. His main job as head of the
committee was to lead a revolt against the revisionists and to keep the beliefs of the party. This is
where Kim first took control of the military as he used them to kill disloyal officers. His main goal
was to keep the military on the Workers Party side. Another big part of Kim Jong il s rise to power

Passenger Pigeons In America
Passenger Pigeon The world has experienced many mass extinctions within its lifetime. More and
more are occuring today with the help of homo sapiens. Everyone in the modern age has heard of the
most recent extinction of the white rhino, that was hunted for their prized horns. However, not many
have heard of the passenger pigeons claim to fame. There was an overabundance of them in the United
States, particularly in eastern North America. Passenger pigeons had been in America before the
Europeans dropped by and the United States was not even an idea yet. Following the colonization of
America was the deconstruction of the passenger pigeon s habitat and then eventually pigeons
attacking the crops belonging to the farmers for provisions. They would fly in gargantuan flocks that

With the new developments in human technology throughout the years, like the train, hunting these
animals became easier to accomplish. Hunters would travel from all over the US and Canada to get a
piece of the creatures with the delectable meat. Nevertheless, this species might have been able to
survive the slaughter of man if it were not for the fact that these hunters disrupted their breeding and
nesting grounds. In 1900, Republican Congressman John F. Lacey of Iowa introduced the nation s first
wildlife protection law, which banned the interstate shipping of unlawfully killed game. That year
Congress passed the Lacey Act, followed by the tougher Weeks McLean Act in 1913 and, five years
later, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which protected not just birds but also their eggs, nests, and
feathers. However it was too late for the passenger pigeons, all the flocks were dying out and only

Moot Speech
As your lady is aware the advertisement identified that the offer was to remain open until the end of
March. One would likely presume this meant the offer was open until the 31st of the month and this
was the day on which the appellant expressed his wish to withdraw his offer. The 31st however fell
upon a Saturday, a day on which the shop was closed for trading. The law in question must therefore
consider if the remained open until the last day of March or the offer did in fact finish on the last day
of trading in march, which would have been Friday the 30th. The Court of Appeal Case of Dickson
and Dodds as reported in ********* held that if an offer clearly states it is open until a certain date, it

Although this case involved an invitation to tender and not an invitation to treat, of notable
significance, was that the defendant was bound to check the mail on the last day. And as he did not, he
was found to be at fault. Although emphasis was placed on the above case concerning a tender, and
not an offer, similarities between the case details are evident. Although respondent is not bound to
consider all offers as a result of an invitation to treat, due to him already entering into part negotiations
by stating he would consider the appellants offer. The respondent may therefore be bound to check the
post on the final day of the offer incase any letters had arrived from the appellant. Further emphasis
may be placed on this, due to the fact that one of his offers had been made via postal communication.
Therefore it is likely that further means of communication from the appellant would also likely to be
in the form of postal communication. It is notable that the Law of contract adopts an objective
approach when identifying if the parties can be seen to have come to an agreement. Thus an objective
assessment is made of the content of their agreement, and an interpretation to be put on the language
by which it was constituted. In the ****** case of Centrovincial Estates Plc V Merchant Investors

The Failures Of The Public School System Essay
The Failures of the Public School System
All across the United States, there are schools that are struggling financially and culturally due to
different socio economic challenges. Some of these challenges cannot be avoided, although many of
them could be avoided. One of these problems that could be avoided is the act of institutionalized
separation of rich and poor. If integration was more focused the school systems in certain parts of a
city would not be understaffed and underfunded. In the documentary Waiting for Superman there were
many different points made by the filmmaker that in the modern Education system people are
believing that teachers are the only ones responsible for the success of their students. In the film states
that people should not wait for Superman to come to the rescue; look in the mirror. We need to
understand that it is not just the schools and teachers that are accountable for students performance .
This idea can be seen not only in the film, but in Sheryll Cashin s The Failures of Integration. A piece
of literature that discusses the modern education system and the organizations within them in the
United States. Waiting for Superman argues that the public school system in the United States is
failing due to poor performing teachers in schools. When The Failures of Integration argues that race
and socioeconomic impact is more important than the teachers in the failing schools. Schools in large
city centers are failing faster than schools in

The Effect Of Diversity On Asian-American Culture
Does race really matter on our tv screens? The facts, statistics and stories that follow this question
almost a century after the invention makes the answer clear. What you see on television is a big part of
what how people regard other cultures and diversity as a whole. The misconceptions of how the world
looks and works dramatically impacts the audience, and what they think is the societal norm.
Television has been around since 1925 and likely will not go away anytime soon. Back when it was

Examples Of Compromise In The Lover s Dictionary
The Lovers Dictionary Compromise is an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by
each side making concessions or an ability to listen to two sides in a dispute, and devise an agreement
acceptable to both parties. Compromise is not only just an agreement to settle a dispute, it is also
unselfishly giving up something for another while respecting their personal boundaries. One can
assume that with relationships there will always be disagreements and non compromise. Therefore, no
matter how many low points a relationship gets to there is always the ability to compromise to solve

Good And Evil In The Real World
Within the natural world good and evil simply does not exist. The framing of your reality is based
solely on your perception. Good and evil is the result of that perception. If you distinguish something

Good and evil is a judgement, a judgement where we consider something to be of high value or not.
Perhaps the mother has decided that her baby is not valuable enough to to outweigh the troubles it
brings. A person makes a judgement based on their own perception; therefore perception of good and
evil depends on the one perceiving it.

Toothpaste Modern Toothpaste
Toothpaste is a paste or gel dentifrice used to clean and maintain the aesthetics and health of teeth.
Toothpaste use can promote good oral hygiene: it can aid in the removal of dental plaque and food
from the teeth, it can aid in the elimination and/or masking of halitosis, and it can deliver active
ingredients such as fluoride or xylitol to prevent tooth and gum disease (gingivitis). In most or all
developed countries, usage after each meal is encouraged. Most toothpaste contains chemicals which
are toxic when ingested, and is not intended to be swallowed.

Sodium fluoride (NaF) is the most common form; some brands use sodium monofluorophosphate
(Na2PO3F). Much of the toothpaste sold in the United States has 1000 to 1100 parts per million
fluoride ion from one of these active ingredients, in the UK the fluoride content is often higher, a NaF
of 0.32% w/w (1,450 ppm fluoride) is not uncommon. This consistency leads some to conclude that
cheap toothpaste is just as good as expensive toothpaste. When the magazine Consumer Reports rated
toothpastes in 1998, 30 of the 38 were judged excellent. Application of fluoride also prevents moisture
build up in some surfaces.[citation needed]
Other ingredients are less commonly used, including Hydroxyapatite nanocrystals and calcium
phosphate for remineralization,[6] and strontium chloride or potassium nitrate to reduce sensitivity.
[edit] Other ingredients
In addition to fluoride, the other fundamental ingredient in most toothpastes is an abrasive.[citation
needed] Studies have shown that abrasives in toothpaste reduce the time needed to remove plaque
from the teeth by approximately 50%. Abrasives, like the dental polishing agents used in dentist s
offices, also cause a small amount of enamel erosion which is termed polishing action. Some brands
contain powdered white mica which acts as a mild abrasive, and also adds a cosmetically pleasing
glittery shimmer to the paste. Many may contain frustules of dead

PROR compaction scheme for larger circuits and longer vectors with deterministic ATPG Suresh k
Devanathan Michael L Bushnell Abstract Reverse order restoration ROR techniques have found great
use in sequential automatic test pattern generation ATPG, esp. spectral and perturbation based ATPG.
This paper deals with improving ROR for that purpose. We introduce parallel fault Multipass 2 level

We introduce PROR, a new variant of ROR type compactors. They are noticeably very fast, and do
have a lower quality trade off with vector length. In general, in this paper, we also present tricks that
we used to tweak our tool. In the end, we present the results. II. ROR Out of the compaction
algorithms, the most useful ones are RORs because unlike omission based sequential compactors, they
take less time and unlike some schemes, they do not use a lot of memory space. The algorithm for a
typical ROR is as follows. Drop all vectors Pick fault with highest detection time Restore vectors from
that time instant If a fault is detected, stop, else keep restoring vectors Move on to the fault of the next
highest detection time Repeat the process until necessary
Differentalgorithmsplayonthisscheme.AnLROR,forexample, restores only one vector at a time and a
radix reverse order restoration RROR scheme restores an exponential number of vectors each instant.
For example, with radix 2, the scheme would restore 1,2,4,8 vectors, etc. RRORs although fast, are
over ambitious, whereas LROR are too slow. The invention of PROR exists to solve these problems.
Unlike fault simulators, which are exact, or have to be consistent with each other, each compactor has
its own ļ¬‚avor. Compaction algorithms are inexact. The only exact thing about them is that their results
have to be veriļ¬able by a fault simulator and that they, in general, have to produce smaller

The Citizen Soldier, By Stephen Ambrose Essay
Not every man who s fought in a war planned on doing so. In fact, not all of them even want to. It s
rare to find enough people voluntarily willing to lay down their lives for their country, so more often
than not militaries used what we would call citizen soldiers. Citizen soldiers are exactly what they
sound like, regular citizens taken from society and turned into people capable of serving in the
military. Although it may seem obvious when plainly written out, citizen soldiers had vastly different
experiences compared to career soldiers, and Stephen Ambrose attempted to pin down that specific
experience in his book Citizen Soldier. Ambrose uses oral interviews from World War II veterans and
other materials to explain the experiences of the common American soldier who served in WWII
between D Day and the eventual surrender of the German forces. However, when examining his book,
it s important to ask how successful Ambrose was in painting an accurate picture of this kind of
soldier s life during his service. Is the information he uses specific to the men who served in Europe,
or can it also be linked back to the soldiers in the Pacific? This paper will evaluate his work by
comparing it to oral interviews from WWII veterans both from the same areas that Ambrose s veterans
serve in and in locations not included in his work. When looking at the interviews of WWII veterans,
one similarity that shows up in almost all of them was that most soldiers weren t career

Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith
uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism. Smith explains
what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once thoroughly established, it is
but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own labour can supply. He supplies the far
greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the produce of his own labour, which is over
and above his own consumption, for such parts of the produce of other s men s labour as he has
occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes in some measure a merchant, and the
society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37).
He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a
dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement on
commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. However, continuing
reading his book, there are more benefits of a commercial society than the drawbacks. A commercial
society does not damage human nature, instead improves human nature by acting on one s self interest
to bring positive benefits to society, connects and aids members of society together through trade and

Genre is a system of categorization that groups similar styled works together under one label. The
comedy genre broadly refers to any work that is purposefully humorous and aims to induce laughter,
however throughout history composers have used this genre to critique society and human nature,
allowing them to manipulate the audiences view of themselves and others in a non confrontational
format. The texts School for Scandal by Richard Sheridan, Emma by Jane Austen, Blackadder by

  • 2. The Basic Parts That Make Up A Computer Lawson City Since you are looking to upgrade or purchase a new set of computers, I would like to discuss the basic parts that make up a computer. It is important for everyone to have a basic understanding of what makes a computer. As technology advances, it s important that you be able to make an educated decision on whether to upgrade or to replace your current systems. The difference can be a good deal of your hard earned money. Therefore, I will be detailing the Operating System, Processor, Memory, RAM, and a few other things that will help you make good decisions when purchasing new machines. Let s start with the Operating System. Chris Woodford describes the operating system as the core software in a computer that (essentially) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These computers date back to DOS, and Windows NT. Now we have multicore Processors, which allow us to run two or more tasks at the same time. Of course now days, you can surf the internet, write a word document, while listening to your favorite playlist on iTunes. We have come a really long way. The next thing we will discuss is Memory. Your hard drive allows you to store all the applications, programs, pictures, and any other data that you might like to save on your machine. Hard drives now come in many different sizes depending on your needs. They range from 100 GB to 3.9 Terabytes. The average home computer has 500 GB of memory. We also have Solid State Drives which are said to be more reliable because there is no spinning mechanism to worry about possibly failing. Now we must discuss the RAM (Random Access Memory). Even though this is wiped clean every time you shut down your computer, your random access memory stores the location of that data. Because of this, the CPU doesn t need to go back out to the address bus and find the data s location on your hard drive. It s like going to the library. If you need to know the definition of a word, you don t need to get up repeatedly, walk over to the shelf with the dictionary and open it to the corresponding page. Instead you can just take the dictionary off of the shelf and keep it at the table until you are done. Your RAM does the exact same thing, thus speeding up the process. Now, I ... • 3. Praxis In Relation To The Practitioner Inquiry 2. Praxis in relation to the practitioner inquiry As educators, we regularly take an action and considering the impact of the action. Then we analysing the results of the action by reflecting upon it and critically evaluate our professional knowledge and the effectiveness of our teaching. Further, we are altering and revising conceptions and planning following reflection. Finally, we are implementing these plans in further actions. In this process, teachers work collaboratively with other members of the profession and engage in discussion of contemporary issues and research to improve professional practice. Many educators are involved with praxis but it often isn t part of their vocabulary. Without knowing the concept (inquiry as praxis), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During my inquiry, I considered theories when planning, taking action, reflecting, evaluating and finally documenting. Sometimes we can feel pressure to handle disruptive behaviours immediately. Taking the time to understand the behaviour and to consider various options often results in a more constructive resolution. After an event is past, taking the time to evaluate the effectiveness of our response can help to improve our reaction in the next situation (Kuhlenschmidt Layne, 1999). During my inquiry, I made questions about student behaviour and made assumptions. As an example student behaviour during Friday, last period was really disruptive. I assumed, that may be their energy supply is low or excitement about the weekend (mood). Discussion with teachers proved me this was a very common experience. Research showed that It s natural for student attention levels to vary according to motivation, mood, perceived relevance of the material, and other factors (Briggs, 2014). Based on my understandings, knowledge, readings and other experts ideas, I developed an action plan for behaviour management in year 8 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you have ever visited California, you will realise pretty quickly that the state in which they grew up was what inspired those great sounds. It is the state of the beautiful people. Everybody seems to be laidback about life and yet most Californians are obsessed with exercise, keeping fit and keeping their looks for as long as possible (whether it be through botox or going under the knife). Everybody, it seems, goes out for a run. And yet, they will climb into a car to go to a shopping mall 100 yards down the road. The climate is wonderful, and if you are able to get behind the wheel of a convertible and drive along the Pacific Coast Highway with Barbara Ann, I Can Hear Music, Sloop John B or Surfin Safari blaring and the stunning views of the ocean at hand then you will be able to die happy. It was on my bucket list and I have done it. There is nothing to beat it. I have also played golf in California and I ve got to tell you that it is something you have to experience. There is very little rain in this part of the world but it is the greenest state in America, with everybody who lives there into recycling and conserving water and energy. To keep their greens and fairways in perfect condition, most of the golf courses use either reconstituted water or water that has gone through a desalienation plant. And they do a great job, too. • 6. Driver Responsibility Program Analysis According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state of Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers aren t automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three year period, a surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver s license. Even for those who know about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It requires applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an income tax form. Bill Lewis testified on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving , an organization that supported the program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist the millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion dollars billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. The reason for this law is, Texans has come up with a reliable revenue for trauma hospitals, YƔƱez Correa (TCJC) said. • 7. King Henry V Character Analysis Essay The mercy that was quick in us but late/ By your own counsel is suppressed and killed. / You must not dare, for shame, to talk of mercy, (2.2.85 87). In Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry V, uses multiple personas towards certain people to gain the French throne. He justifies his right to the French throne by his descent from French royalty through the female line. Henry is still being seen as his young self and uses role play to prove that he is worthy of the French throne. Henry s role playing is for the purpose of gaining the French throne. Henry manipulates his soldiers and opponents for his selfish want of the throne. Henry uses different personas while giving speeches and physically disguising himself to gain the French throne. Henry, in preparation of the battle at Harfleur, portrays a friendly persona to rally his troops. Henry goes to France to fight and declines an offer of useless dukedoms and their princess. He declines the offer, because he wants the throne and is dedicated to get it. At Harfleur, Henry encourages his troops by saying, Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more, / Or close the wall up with our English dead! (3.3.1 3). Henry calls his troops his friends and encourages them to continue the battle and try their hardest to fight for England and win. Henry concludes his speech saying, Follow your spirit, and upon this charge/ Cry God for Harry, England, and Saint George! (3.1.36 37). Henry allows his troops to call him Harry and keeps his troops spirits alive to go on and fight in Harfleur. Encouraging the king s troops helps the soldiers know why they should be fighting in the war and makes them feel patriotic for England. Henry rallying his troops, manipulates them to try their hardest and win the battle, which gets Henry a step closer to have the French throne. Henry rallying his troops in a friendly way, makes his troops feel more patriotic and gets them to want to fight at Harfleur for England. Henry tries to portray himself either as a major threat and merciful to the soldiers of Harfleur. A parley is sounded and Henry gives a speech to the soldiers of Harfleur telling them to surrender and if they do not surrender, what Henry will do to Harfleur, which ... • 8. Shanghai Offers An Eclectic Range Of Scenes Shanghai offers an eclectic range of scenes including but not limited to those with large influences from western cultures. The Bund has become the most iconic feature of the city that fits this description and ranks at the around the top of the list for must see places for the whole country. Currently, its peculiar architecture entices tourists from all over the world for sightseeing, shopping, and adventure. In less than a century from the mid 1800 s to the mid 1900s, the area along the Huangpu River has changed in a dramatic but gradual fashion logistically, culturally, economically, and architecturally. What was once just a small port center soon would transform into a global metropolitan attraction. When the harbor finally opened to international trade in 1843 with the signing of the Treaty of Nanjing, there was no special infrastructure for junks and sampans (the boats used at that time). It was only on the eastern gate was there some kind of embankment for ships; otherwise the riverbank was just used as it was. This all would soon change, as the foreign enclaves would slowly modernize the Bund. However during the first few decades of Shanghai s international influence it did not seem like the Bund would turn into a famous international icon anytime soon. In the following paragraphs are small but noteworthy glimpses into each foreign enclave over this time period. In the English Settlement the land regulations that were approved by the Chinese authorities prohibited ... • 9. Project Energy Efficient Database Management Systems Essay Abstract Energy is a growing component of the operational cost for many data intensive deployments. A large number of efforts have been made in the field of energy efficient computing at various levels ranging from individual hardware components, system software and to applications. In this paper, I have described the concept of energy efficiency problem and recent techniques to design energy efficient database management systems. I have broadly classified recent research into three categories: hardware based, software based and cluster based database designs. Last section of paper includes a description of power models used for evaluation of energy efficiency solutions. Section 1 Introduction Data center industry supporting internet has become world s largest consumer of energy. In 2013, nearly three million computer rooms in US used enough energy to power all the households in New York for two years, equivalent to the annual output of 34 large coal fired power plants[1]. Direct monthly energy costs for data centers make up around 23% of the total amortized monthly operating costs [19]. This data revolution has led to an exponential growth in digital data making database management systems (DBMS) one of the major energy consumers in data centers. Enterprise server systems reportedly operated on over 9 zettabytes (1 zettabyte = 1021 bytes) of data in 2008 [2], with data volumes doubling every 12 to 18 months. By Noel Matea, University of Waikato, New Zealand, 2011. Introduction The ethical issue in human subjects research continues to receive greater attention within the research ethics literature and the wider academia. A particular ethical issue that continues to draw controversy is the use of deception in social science research involving human subjects. The question of whether deception can be ethically justified is always at the forefront of the deception debate. While some argue that the use of deception, whether intentional or not, carries a considerable potential risk and harm for research subjects, others however, stresses that some ... In the mid 1960s Laud Humphreys carried out a study of male homosexuals in tearooms in the United States (Humphreys, 1970). The tearoom is a name given to a public restroom where male homosexuals reputedly use for various deviant encounters. Humphreys carry out the study through various means. He first assumes a participant observation method where he misrepresents his identity and knowledge of his research. He establishes himself within the cycle of his subjects and took up the role of a voyeur or watchqueen to lookout for strangers and policemen while his subjects carry out their activities (Humphreys, 1970). He concealed a tape recorder in his car and from time to time make recordings of his observations. He recorded his subjects car registration numbers and uses it to track them down to their home addresses. While conducting his study Humphreys was also responsible to carry out a social health survey on a random sample of males in the community where he lives. Effects Of Childhood Obesity On Population Level Essay Group 2 Seol Baek Allison Miranda Jasmine Tarango Professor Goodman HSCI 345 27 September 2016 Child Nutrition Table of contents Abstract Introduction Why is Child Nutrition a Public Health Issue Impact of Childhood Obesity on Population Level Epidemiology Conclusion and Suggestions to Remedy Issues Caused by Poor Nutrition Abstract We are a group of students at California State University of Northridge who found common interest in the topic of child nutrition. By applying the core functions of public health, we were able to analyze how poor child nutrition led to more serious problems such as chronic diseases and obesity. We found out that there is plenty of data that proves obesity is caused by poor nutrition and ultimately has led to poor health. As our group researched on the topic and related it to public health, we have concluded that there is a relation between child nutrition and obesity. Solutions for the problem of obesity are suggested to conclude the essay. It is important to understand that nutrition and health are always closely related, and that child nutrition should especially be monitored closely as children are the future of our homes, communities, and the nation. Child Nutrition Good nutrition is important for everyone in every age group. It is an essential part of leading a healthy lifestyle, not only physically but also mentally. The Effects Of Facebook On Society By Yvette Vickers The effects of Facebook on Society Yvette Vickers, a former Playboy playmate and Hollywood horror movie star would have been 86 in this year, but nobody exactly knows how old she was at the time of her death! According to the coroner s report, she was died for a long time ago before her neighbor discovered her death. Her neighbor, Susan Savage noticed cobwebs in her windows and yellowing pile of letters in her mailbox. She reached through a broken window to unlock the door and she reached upstairs, she found Vickers s mummified boy near a heater that was running at that time. Near the body, Vickers s computer was also running. The Los Angeles Times posted a story, which quickly went viral throughout the country. Within two weeks, Vickers s lonesome death was already the subject to thousands of Facebook posts and tweets. She had long been a horror movie icon, now she was an icon of a different kind of horror, our growing fear of loneliness. Certainly she received much more attention after her death than she did in the end years of her life. With no children, no religious group, and no immediate social circle of any kind, she had begun to look elsewhere for companionship. Vickers had made calls not to friends or family but to distant fans whom she found through fan conventions and Internet sites. Though her web of connections had grown broader but it was shallower, as has happened for many of us (Marche S. 2012). Vickers s death arises a question to all does social media ... Some of you may not be beer drinkers, or drink any alcohol, but you are still a part of a culture where beer drinking is an identifiable lifestyle component, so you should be able to provide some perspective. Some things to consider are Budweiser s targeted blue collar market segment, its country of origin, and our nationalistic pride of ownership. Switch perspectives a bit, and consider how international consumers might value the quintessential American beer. Do you think that coming from the US enhances the value to overseas customers? Why or why not? (Blenkinsop amp; Geller, 2014) In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to the US, introduction of this campaign in Russia also led to strengthening Budweiser s image with respect to its heritage and its role in consumers social life. Significant improvements were observed on several attributes. This campaign was also able to touch a chord with consumers in the UK, where an increase was noticed on the very same attributes as well. Reintroducing Budweiser in this optimistic light has aided in generating a universal positive impression of Budweiser among consumers globally. Not only has it improved consumers perceptions of the brand, but has also helped curb the over two decade decline in sales in Bud s home market of United States as well as has fueled growth in international markets, making it truly the first successful Global beer brand. Hence, I believe that Bud InBev has added equity to the company and is well on its way in accomplishing a significant turn around for Budweiser. Not only is the Anticipation campaign working to halt historical declines by driving reappraisal for the brand in the US, it is also making significant progress towards our dream of establishing Budweiser as the world s first truly global beer brand. A meticulous approach to brand building and respect for strongly rooted research has been the fuel for a powerful campaign built on a universal emotion. References Blenkinsop, P., amp; ... The feature characteristic is eye color: mutant adults express a darker, reddish brown color in contrast to the wild type red eye. Additionally, no pseudopupil is observed in mutants. However this may be due to the darker eye color obscuring visibility of a pseudopupil. Newly eclosed flies express a lighter mutant phenotype than older flies. The mutation is nicknamed Rust due to the similarities between iron oxide, a reddish brown compound that forms and darkens after exposure to oxygen, and the mutant eye color following eclosion. • 21. The And Finance Executives When It Is A Financing Option... There are many misperceptions among CFOs and finance executives when it comes to asset based lending (ABL). The biggest is that ABL is a financing option of last resort one that only desperate companies that can t qualify for a traditional bank loan or line of credit would consider. With the economic downturn and resulting credit crunch of the past few years, though, many companies that might have qualified for more traditional forms of bank financing in the past have instead turned to ABL. And to their surprise, many have found ABL to be a flexible and cost effective financing tool. What ABL Looks Like A typical ABL scenario often looks something like this: A business has survived the recession and financial crisis by aggressively managing receivables and inventory and delaying replacement capital expenditures. Now that the economy is in recovery (albeit a weak one), it needs to rebuild working capital in order to fund new receivables and inventory and fill new orders. Unfortunately, the business no longer qualifies for traditional bank loans or lines of credit due to high leverage, deteriorating collateral and/or excessive losses. The Failures Of The Public School System Essay The Failures of the Public School System All across the United States, there are schools that are struggling financially and culturally due to different socio economic challenges. Some of these challenges cannot be avoided, although many of them could be avoided. One of these problems that could be avoided is the act of institutionalized separation of rich and poor. If integration was more focused the school systems in certain parts of a city would not be understaffed and underfunded. ROR Out of the compaction algorithms, the most useful ones are RORs because unlike omission based sequential compactors, they take less time and unlike some schemes, they do not use a lot of memory space. The algorithm for a typical ROR is as follows. It s rare to find enough people voluntarily willing to lay down their lives for their country, so more often than not militaries used what we would call citizen soldiers. Citizen soldiers are exactly what they sound like, regular citizens taken from society and turned into people capable of serving in the military. Although it may seem obvious when plainly written out, citizen soldiers had vastly different experiences compared to career soldiers, and Stephen Ambrose attempted to pin down that specific experience in his book Citizen Soldier. Ambrose uses oral interviews from World War II veterans and other materials to explain the experiences of the common American soldier who served in WWII between D Day and the eventual surrender of the German forces. However, when examining his book, it s important to ask how successful Ambrose was in painting an accurate picture of this kind of soldier s life during his service. Is the information he uses specific to the men who served in Europe, or can it also be linked back to the soldiers in the Pacific? According to a January 2007 survey by the Pew Internet 7 American Life Project, 55 percent of teens (ages 12 to 17) report having created a personal profile online, and an equal number regularly use social networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook. Of those, 91 percent use the sites to stay in touch with friends they see frequently. With all that screen time, students are acutely attuned to and sometimes more comfortable

  • 37. An Investigation Into The Nature And Causes Of The Wealth... SOCB42 Classical Sociological Theory Professor Daniel Silver TUT0001 TA Katie Stuart Joyce (Fong) Liu 1001717458 Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism. Smith explains what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once thoroughly established, it is but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own labour can supply. He supplies the far greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the produce of his own labour, which is over and above his own consumption, for such parts of the produce of other s men s labour as he has occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes in some measure a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37). He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement on commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. However, continuing reading his book, there are more benefits of a commercial society than the drawbacks. A commercial society does not damage human nature, instead improves human nature by acting on one s self interest to bring positive benefits to society, connects and aids members of society together through trade and ... • 38. Benzodiazepines Antidepression Essay Benzodiazepines include anticonvulsant drugs (tested in the study) and antidepression and anxiety drugs (medications my patient was on specifically Xanax) However to perfectly match the study to the clinical problem, Cerebral Palsy patients taking Xanax could be measured against Cerebral Palsy patient not taking any medication plus a control group of normal individuals. The definitions used in the study were similar to the PICO research term. The health care system in the study was in Brazil therefor not that similar to the patient as described in the clinical problem. Perhaps a study done in Australia or Sydney would further strengthen the relevance to the clinical question. Ages in the study were slightly younger than the patient that presented to the SCU, to further improve the association with the clinical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this study, Benzodiazepines presented lower presence of teeth grinding compared with those administered baributues. Both these observations support the idea that the main mechanism of Bruxism in Cerebral palsy patients may not be similar to that which occur in normal individuals Coming off or going on certain medication to reduce or eliminate bruxism is not an immediate decision to be made in regard to tooth grinding. Few studies have been conducted therefore there is not enough evidence to suggest medication is the cause of bruxism. Taking medications to treat certain conditions far outweighs the need to go off these medications to reduce bruxism when other treatment can be considered. Advice must be given to patient and parent about tooth grinding and clenching and can include that the drugs may (but not certainly) have an effect on this. Its important to discuss implementation of other intervention strategies before going on or off any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Jazz Workshop And Class Material Essay Jazz Workshop and Class Material The Jazz Workshop, Wednesday night, was conducted by Professor Madsen. There were two other groups that performed before the workshop. Those were two bands were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the Funk Combo, coached by Chris Madsen, and the Jazz Workshop, conducted by Professor Madsen, and special guest Victor Garcia. All three groups did an outstanding job. They had many moments that I could hear were very similar to what we have been learning in jazz history. It was interesting to actually hear everything that was being taught in class being exercised in the concert. In this paper I will be talking about the concert as well as the parallels that showed up in the concert that relate back to what our class has been learning. In the first group, the Rich Armandi Combo, did really well over all. When listening to the combo there were many things that stood out. You can hear the basic jazz techniques, the drum keeping time, he never stops or goes off beat. In the second song the combo performed Forest Flower was very well done, the trumpet added to the song. I thought that some of the trumpet playing sounded similar to Miles Davis. This was because the trumpeter was playing in a middle register, but not to low. Just like Davis would play, the trumpet also had great a great sound for the long notes she was playing in the pieces. The third song they performed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Emma Satire Essay Genre is a system of categorization that groups similar styled works together under one label. The comedy genre broadly refers to any work that is purposefully humorous and aims to induce laughter, however throughout history composers have used this genre to critique society and human nature, allowing them to manipulate the audiences view of themselves and others in a non confrontational format. The texts School for Scandal by Richard Sheridan, Emma by Jane Austen, Blackadder by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, and South Park by Matt Stone and Trey Parker all evaluate their society through the use of satire in order to tell a truth, as a truth told by comic means draws the reader/spectator closer allowing them to ambush the overly confident ... The green world consists of a place that the character s travel to that removes them from their usual setting to go to the country or the woods; in short, anywhere that is separated from society and its influences. In Emma this green world can be seen when the character s travel to box hill for a picnic during the climax of the novel. Order and decorum are inverted as Frank suggests the party follow Emma s lead, a role which should be given to the recently married Mrs Elton this is a clear example of the hierarchies of society become suspended. It is during this outing that the most critical point of the novel is met where Emma, taking advantage of the freedom of the green world, commits an act that induces her to re evaluate herself, amend for her faults and at last achieve her happy ending. In true comic form, Austen instigates this through a simple comical technique, an insult. Despite being unrestricted from the usual social conventions, Emma takes it a step two far when Miss Bates is asked to say three dull things, believing it to be easy as she shall be sure to say three dull things as soon as ever I open my mouth to which Emma rudely replies, but there may be a difficulty. Pardon me but you will be limited as to number only three at once . This act is critical to Emma s development as it allows her to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
