Descriptive research is often used as a pre cursor to more quantitatively research designs, the general
overview giving some valuable pointers as to what variables are worth testing quantitatively.
Quantitative experiments are often expensive and time consuming so it is often good sense to get an

Haraway gives an introduction to cyberfeminism and argues that there should be a new way to view

controversial. Prior to the Civil War, the North consisted of business owners and middle class men.
The South consisted of mostly farmers. The North was industrial, using railroads and factories. The

South used slaves. Not only did their opposing views on slavery and the separation of the two cultures,

Introduction
The uses of conceptual models are essential to help guide the nursing process. There are many
different types of conceptual models and among these models there is the Roy Adaption model that
was created by Sister Callista Roy. According to McEwen, like many models/theories in this unit, it is
a deductive theory based on nursing practice (p. 177, 2014). Throughout this paper, we will be
explaining, discussing and analyzing this specific model by the use of a clinical situation.
Presentation of the conceptual model The Roy adaption model was influenced by Helson s Adaption
Theory and the General Systems Theory, which was developed by Ludwig von Bertalanffy in 1968
(Pepin, Kerouac Ducharme, 2010). Each and every theory has a basic philosophy as to where it stems
from and the Roy model stems from the concepts of humanism and veritivity. The principle of
humanism describes that every individual s human experiences affects their knowledge and values in

our lives for a very long time. It is in our computers, our phones, our watches, even in our homes. I

The discovery of electricity opened the door to many mysteries that challenged scientists of the
nineteenth century. Nathaniel Hawthorne writes of some challenges that man could run into during the

physical but they are more so about an internal struggle within Victorian mindsets. In The Birthmark

willingly but only to vicariously pursue happiness through her husband s experiment. Knowing that
her birthmark makes her an object of horror to the one she loves, she finds life to be a burden and is
willing to risk her own life for both of their happiness (Hawthorne 292).

In Mary Shelly s book, Frankenstein, she writes with a narrative style. A narrative style is telling a
story. In the book Frankenstein is telling his story to Walton who is writing the story in a letter to his
sister, Margaret. The readers do not know Frankenstein is telling the story until the end when he is on
his death bed and the you he used was not to the readers but to Walton. Right after we see he is writing
this down in a letter to his sister. Frankenstein follows Frankenstein s story in order, only to go back to
