Immanuel Kant Deontology
Deontology
The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily produce a
good outcome for society. Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by contrast, is dependent on
moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers on the principles of 18th century philosopher
Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying, murdering and
breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI)
This moral theory stems from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty.
Deontology states that an action s morality holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong
action does not make it s outcome ethical. In other words,

Social Community Within A Sixth Grade Classroom
Introduction As an educator, I always believe that the classroom is the epitome of a social community
in which culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse students function, learn, and succeed through
collaborations with their classmates and me. In order for my pedagogical efforts to be effective, a
learning community should be established, administered, and maintained because students will not
learn or respond to my motivational attempts if they feel insecure, disconnected, or negative. The
concept I am interested in is the establishment of an interactive and connective learning community
within a sixth grade classroom. Because certain needs must be fulfilled before teaching and
pedagogical strategies become effective, lower level needs should be satisfied before higher level
needs can be functional and operative. Not only can the satisfaction and motivation of students be
affected by the very nature of learning and the outcomes they expect to gain, but also by the learning
environment they situate and their relationships with peers, and most specifically, their feelings and
perceptions about me. Therefore, constructing an optimal social and learning community is absolutely
indispensable to my class and the formation of emotional bonds between my students and me. A
learning community serves as a reminder for educators that students come to class to acquire enriching
and empowering dispositions, knowledge, skills, and values, which go beyond merely performing
tasks and

The Opposing case of Texas v. Johnson
The Supreme Court s decision on the case of Texas v. Johnson has been a controversial one, as it
involves the burning of our national symbol, the American flag. It leads to the question: Does the
desecration of the American flag a way of expressing speech that is protected by the first amendment?
Shouldn t the destruction of a true American symbol be protected and preserved, as it is a symbol that
represents our country? There is a great amount of criticism that Texas v. Johnson has been faced with;
most of which are valid points that could contribute to possibly overriding this decision of Texas v.
Johnson in the future. August 22, 1984, marked the day of the 1984 Republican National Convention
in Dallas, Texas. Gregory Lee Johnson was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flag is a symbol of freedom and prosperity, and of hope. It is also used to express patriotism for
example, in which solders raise the flag to symbolize an American victory in war. The American flag
is the symbol that exemplifies our nation. Justice Stevens, who disagreed with the majority s
argument, states in his dissenting opinion that: The ideas of liberty and equality have been an
irresistible force in motivating leaders like Patrick Henry, Susan B. Anthony, and Abraham Lincoln,
schoolteachers like Nathan Hale and Booker T. Washington, the Philippine Scouts who fought at
Bataan, and the soldiers who scaled the bluff at Omaha Beach. If those ideas are worth fighting for
and our history demonstrates that they are it cannot be true that the flag that uniquely symbolizes their
power is not itself worthy of protection from unnecessary desecration. (Texas v. Johnson, 1989,
Dissenting Opinion,

the flag is a way of expressing your feelings against the country, while showing no appreciation for
what these people have done to make our country the way it is. It is a symbolic way to express hatred
towards the US, and it should not be allowed, as the flag characterizes our history and who we are as a
country, the fifty United States of America. Even though the first amendment allows freedom of
speech, does not mean that there cannot be punishment for disrespecting

Maus and Persepolis
Persepolis and Maus: Two Survivors and Their Stories.
Of the many items that help enhance the horror of the Nazi Holocaust, one of the most notable is what
it had of systematic and bureaucratic. Not only killing people, which would have had already been
enough, but precisely being made in a quiet and civilized way. It is not strange the image of the Nazi
leader quoting his favorite poet while sending to death hundreds of people, belying the myth that
culture and education make people better. The Holocaust was primarily an act performed with such
rationality that could only become insane. It almost seems that it could have been avoided by
appealing to the same reason as well served to run it.
As indicated by the subtitle, Maus is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages Of Agile Methodology
Introduction
Software engineering has come to stay and has become an integral part of the information system the
world over.
In view of it this framework is now utilized to structure, plan and control software development and
ensure its agility.
Agile Methodology
Agile Methodology is a framework employed for undertaking software engineering projects. The
importance of this methodology could be well understood from the fact that new methods have
evolved such as Crystal methods, Dynamic systems Development model and scrum which are
significant in their own right.
The aim of Agile methods mainly is to reduce risk as much as possible by developing software in time
boxes. They have a duration of one to four weeks, what is remarkable is each time box or iteration has
a duration span lasting one to four weeks. What is noteworthy is ... Show more content on

Testing Is The Measurement Of Software Quality
Testing is the measurement of software quality. It is the practice of making objective judgments
regarding the extent to which the system meets, exceeds or fails to meet stated objectives. A good
testing program is a tool for both the developer and the end user; it basically identifies the end of the
development part of the project, establishes the criteria for project acceptance, and establishes the start
of the warranty period. Testing Program is a selective innovation that permits you to perform web
testing all the more rapidly, proficiently, and regularly, which implies you can instantly recognize the
main driver of any bottlenecks or issues and regulate them. We make it simple for you to measure the
performance and trustworthy of your site so they meet business and client experience desires. Testing
should be represented in the early phase of the software advancement life cycle, the expense of fixing
the bug is bigger if testing is not done in prior stage and bugs found in later stages. In the todays
aggressive market just the quality items stay long lasting, so to ensure they create the great quality
item the testing of utilization is key variable in SDLC. There are two fundamental purposes of testing
they are verifying procurement specifications and managing risk. First, testing is about verifying that
what was specified is what was delivered it verifies that the product meets the functional,
performance, design, and implementation requirements

Wealth Of The American Dream
The American Dream was a white picket fence, and a four bedroom house. Children laugh as they run
from the house and play in the yard. A nice dog runs around them and barks and plays with them. The
mother watches from their porch. She gets to stay home with their family as her husband only works
40 hours a week using his college degree. They are in no debt and own a car they bought off the lot.
The children always have new clothes and shoes. They never need hand me downs. Now we hope that
when we get home that we have enough food to make it to pay day. Out debt piles up as we must cut
another check for rent instead of paying off our loans. Our American Dream is just having extra
income at the end of the night. The economy changes, times change,

Travel Business Franchise and Market Structure
My franchise operates in a markets characterized by a state of the monopolistic competition. Results!
Travel competes in the travel business, helping customers sort out their travel options and booking
travel for them. In this market, there are numerous competitors, but each tailors its service slightly
differently. There are low barriers to entry, and all firms are in business to maximize profit. Lastly,
firms in this market are typically not price takers, because they have the ability to reach consumers
(Investopedia, 2012). These are the four basic characteristics of firms in monopolistic competition,
and that therefore is the type of market structure faced by Results. There are a wide range of
competitors in this market. Some firms also do travel planning, and this segment of the industry is
highly fragmented. There are some chains still in the business and there are also a large number of
independent operators. Some of the customer segments include vacationers and corporations. A lot of
competition in this industry has migrated to the Internet. Results competes against do it yourself travel
planning websites like Expedia or Hotwire, in addition to new startups that seek out different markets
as a result of the highly heterogeneous nature of the industry (Gannes, 2010). There are a couple of
ways for my firm to increase its market power. The first is by offering lower prices. Consumers in this
segment are often price sensitive, so lower prices will entice new

I liked the composition of this photo. It was taken from underneath, looking down the length of the
pier. What I loved about this photo is that the pillars closest to the lens are much distorted and the
Pacific Ocean has soothing yet eerie radium like glow to it. It s a very strange photograph and I
absolutely loved it. The second photo was titled The Coffee Shop. Photo is a black and white print
taken in Italy 2010. It is of a group of men (I think) and they appear to be walking in the middle of a
road or alley away from the camera. What really liked about this photo is the graininess of it and the
contrast of the snow covered street and the dark clothing that the men are wearing. What I loved about
this photo is that I could feel the bone chilling cold, like I was actually there.
The last photo was another black and white print. This photo was titled Canals and was taken in
Amsterdam 2010. This photo seems to be taken from a bridge crossing over the canal or maybe from
some sort of vessel on the canal. I m just taking guesses; I am not familiar with Amsterdam. I liked
this photo because I can see all the way down this canal and there is so much detail in both the

Pawnee Tribe Tribe Essay
There are many Plains indians tribes, all unique in their own ways. One of the most unique tribes that
stand out among the rest is the Pawnee tribe. The Pawnee tribe is really known as the Pawnee tribe of
Oklahoma. The Pawnee are originally from Kansas and Nebraska but they were forced to move from
these states and had to be moved onto a reservation in Oklahoma. They were moved onto this
reservation in Oklahoma in the 1800 s, and most of the tribe have been in Oklahoma ever since. On
their reservation, they have many ways that they are organized unlike other Plains Indian tribes. The
Pawnee have their own police, laws, government, and their own public services. Although it may
seem, that since they have all these things, it makes them a small country inside of a country, the
people of the Pawnee tribe are still U.S. Citizens and therefore have to follow American laws. Even
though the Pawnee tribe is originally from the states of Nebraska and Kansas, they are federally
recognized as being from Oklahoma. The Pawnee group of people are unique in many different ways.
The men, women, and children all have different jobs than each other. The men were usually the
hunters and went to war to protect their family only when needed. The men would take their children,
usually boys, on hunting and fishing trips. The women of the tribe would cook, take care of the
children while the father was out, and they were the farmers as well. The children of the tribe would

Angola Essay
Angola
Angola, formerly Portuguese West Africa, is the seventh largest country in Africa. The country can be
divided into three major regions: the coastal plain, a transition zone, and the vast inland plateau.
Angola has a tropical climate with its vegetation including tropical rain forests, savannas, grasslands,
palm trees and even deserts. A great variety of animal life ranging from elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes,
and even crocodiles can also be found in this African country (Microsoft 1). Very little is known about
the early regions of Angola. The original inhabitants of present day Angola were hunters and
gatherers. Their descendants, called Bushman by the Europeans, still inhabit portions of southern
Africa (Collelo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This difference of interest soon created conflict between Afonso and the Portuguese. The slave trade,
greedily aided by local chiefs, gradually undermined the authority of the king, and twenty five years
after Afonso s death the state succumbed to the onslaught of the Jaga, a belligerent horde of nomads
from the east (Microsoft 4). With Portuguese help, the invaders were finally ousted, but by this time
the life had gone out of the ravaged kingdom (July 155). Clearly, turmoil, victimization, and
disappointment are themes that have pervaded Angola s history, especially since the arrival of the
Europeans in the fifteenth century (Collelo xxi). In 1576, in effective control of the countryside and
facing no organized Kongo opposition, the Portuguese founded the town of Luanda, in effect
establishing the colony of Angola (Bender 24). After the Portuguese began reaching the interior, they
soon appointed royal governors who tried to impose their ideas and beliefs upon the people (Halladay
82). Many African leaders resisted this foreign rule and the Europeans only managed to establish
insecure footholds along the coast (Collelo 9). Kings Alvaro I and II both brought some stability to the
falling kingdom by expanding their territory and at the same time keeping the Portuguese at bay. But
after the death of Alvaro II, conflicts between the

Essay On Life Of A Superintendent
Life of a Superintendent
Taking care of a golf course is a great field to go into because supervisors get the winter months off,
they only need two years of college minimum, have to be a good supervisor for the crew members,
and they have to be self motivated to be a golf course superintendent.
There is a bunch of things that superintendents do. One thing they do is mow. Now on a golf course
there is a lot of grass and it has to be maintained to a certain height. The greens are mowed lower than
the fairways and the rough. Mowing is a crucial point of a golf course because that will determine the
greens rolling speed and nobody likes slow greens. The greens are the part where the cups are cut and

watering is a the biggest part of watering. If there is dry spots or anything looking funky out there then
they grab a hose and start hand watering. Spraying is the biggest part of a golf course. If the
superintendent doesn t spray then say goodbye to it. They spray pesticides, herbicides, and fungicide.
Pesticides will kill any kind of pest that is on a golf course. A couple of examples of pesticides to be
found are grubs, worms and ants. Herbicides is used to kill weeds and if they apply to much to an area
you could also kill grass. There is a ton a weeds out there but the old chemicals are not doing the trick
anymore just because the weeds are prone to it and it just won t die out. Scientist are working on
making new formulations to make sure they won t be prone to it anymore and will die. Fungicides are
used for diseases and can be sprayed at a preventative rate or curative rate. The two most common
diseases on a golf course are dollar spot and brown patch. Dollar spot are like quarter size brown spots
that can be found on fairways and greens. It feeds off of water and will start to expand if not treated
right away. Brown patch is a circle and will be brown but leave the green turf in the middle and it will
die if not treated.
The working environment on a golf course is dangerous and also can be nice. The dangerous side of it
is that they are outside all the time and the people working could be a long ways from

A Leader Is An Action Leading A Group Or Organization
What is leadership? It is defined as being an action leading a group or organization. It involves being
able to take control of certain situations, and leading in the correct direction. Being a leader takes great
knowledge and skill. It involves one being able to make smart decisions in order for his/her
congregation to come out as successful. A leader must also know, that it is wise to have people in
his/her corner to advise them of good or bad decisions. President Barack Obama has his Vice
President, Joe Biden, along with his elite White House staff, including the Secretary of State, to help
with major decisions that could affect the nation. Pastors have deacons who help them lead their
congregation, or church, in the right path of reaching others, who are seeking for help and prayer in
time of need. A leader must know that it is wise to have the correct people in his/her corner to keep
them on track, in order to not falter. If failing becomes even possible for a leader, it can cause a
catastrophic outcome for his/her followers. In Shakespeare s play Richard II, we learn of a great king
who chooses not to listen to the wise people in his corner, and see the outcome of his choices. In
Richard II, we see the slow downfall of King Richard s reign over England. One of the first incidents
that went against the king, was the banishment of Bolingbroke and Mobray. Before their banishment,
there were issues between both men. Bolingbroke

The Multi Store Model And The Working Memory Model
Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain and subsequently recall information and past experiences
in the human brain (Luke Mastin,2010). In this review I am going to focus on the multi store model
and the working memory model, which explain in detail how memory works.
The multi store model (MSM) of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968), explains that the memory
is made up of three different stores. These are: sensory memory (SM), short term memory(STM) and
long term memory(LTM). This model explains how each store works in terms of encoding, duration
and capacity.
The SM obtains the information from environmental stimuli through our five senses which are
touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. In SM the encoding is either visual, auditory or haptic; duration is ¼
to ½ seconds and the capacity is all sensory experience(McLeod S.A,2007). Attention is essential for
the information to transfer to the STM, otherwise it is lost through decay. The information in the STM
is mostly encoded acoustically. The diagram below shows us how the information is transferred from
one store to another.
According to Miller s Magic number 7 (1956) most adults can store from 5 to 9 items, therefore STM
is known to have a capacity of 7+/ 2 items and a duration of up to 18 seconds. The information in this
store can be lost through displacement which is replacing the old information with new ones or
forgetting it (decay). There are two types of rehearsals. Maintenance rehearsal is not effective

Jap The Meiji Restoration In Medieval Japan

time for medieval Japan. The ruler during this period, Emperor Meiji, changed the entire way that
Japan was run and how the people were led and influenced. Japan gradually became an overall world
power with the events that were implemented during this period. The Economy changed during the
Meiji period due to the government investing money into public works such as railways,

Joan Didion On Morality Essay
Joan Didion is an author who was part of the New Journalism movement during the 1960s and 70s
which was quite a change from the traditional styles. New Journalism utilized research and fiction like
writing methods to explore topics on events that occurred in the sixties and seventies. Joan used New
Journalism techniques in her writing by using imagery to make a connection with the reader and
convey morality. She first presents examples then builds up her essay to define what being immoral is.
She uses the definition and her example to close the essay and bring the reader back to the purpose of
the passage, to inform the reader of her opinion on morality. She uses morbid, vivid imagery to shock
the reader and make them more vulnerable so they will accept her claim. It is important to note Joan

Landfills and their Effects on the Enviroment Essay
Landfills And Their Effects On Humans And The Enviroment
Every year Americans collectively create approximately 208 million tons of municipal solid waste,
which breaks down to 4.3 pounds of waste generated per American per day. In addition to this normal
waste, the United States produces roughly 279 million tons of hazardous waste per year.1 All of this
waste has to go somewhere. Two good methods of waste disposal, infrequently used, are incineration
and recycling. However, any waste that is not recycled or incinerated ends up in America s landfills.

The rock should be as nonporous as possible to stop waste from seeping into the groundwater, but one
must be able to predict where the waste will go if it escapes through the liner of the landfill.5
The next layer is the bottom liner of the landfill, which can be made of one or more layers of natural
or synthetic materials. The liner is the landfill s defense to keep the waste out of the environment. This
liner can be made of clay, plastic, or a composite of plastic and clay soil. Natural liners, made of clays
and shales, often crack and allow the waste to enter the environment. In addition, some chemicals can
soak into the clay, thus causing additional harm to the environment.6 The Geomembranes, liners made
of plastic, may seem like they are the best available today, but many household chemicals can break
down the plastic, and it can be easily punctured.7 Thus, like natural liners, Geomembranes may also
allow waste to enter the environment. Combinations of the different kinds of liners can be more
effective than the use of a single material.8
The leachate collection system is what collects any water that has been contaminated by seeping
through the waste in a landfill. Leachate refers to the water that has been contaminated. If the system
happens to fail for any reason, the leachate can contaminate groundwater, the source of many
communities drinking water.9

Importance Of Multiculturalism In Australia
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has stated that Australia is the world s most successful multicultural
nation . All the people know Australia is a multicultural state which is a civilization of populace from
a wealthy variety of artistic, racial, linguistic. The multiculturalism describes the difference of culture
and race in modern Australia. This difference is trying to safeguard the benefit of every Australian and
national interest. Cultural variety is significant since our state, workplaces, and school are comprised
of a variety of artistic, ethnic, and racial clusters. We can gain knowledge of it from one another.
Everyone has their rights to express and share their culture heritage including language and religion.
All of us have to establish a stage of accepting about each other. Everyone needs to respect each other
whatever by different culture and religion, this is the meaning of freedom. Freedom is not likely to get
rid of limitation or do what you want to do. It is a standard that everyone can understand the
differences brought about by different cultures.
Firstly, the existence of multiculturalism must lead to some differences. But to be respected and
enhance the freedom of others can reduce conflict of culture. Sometimes, religion faith can decide
lifestyle and ideology of others. Every religion has their faith and rites. Based on the Australia bureau
of statistics survey (2011), there were above five hundred diverse tribe group or nation around the

Mw Petroleum Essay
Valuation is the estimation of an asset s value, whether real or financial, based on variables perceived
to be related to future investment returns, on comparison with similar assets, or, when relevant, on
estimates of immediate liquidation proceeds (Pinto, Henry, Robinson, Stowe; 2010). Correct valuation
of real assets can present challenges to financial analysts. Different models can be used to arrive at the
closest estimate of value and yet certain issues will always arise. This case attempts to tackle two
approaches in real asset valuation: Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis and the issues surrounding
such, as well as the Black Scholes Model for Real Options. Questions to be addressed in the study are:

Profitability of oil companies declined due to low prices; and most of these firms responded with cost
cutting measures. Many top companies divested their marginal properties, seeking to consolidate and
rationalize their productive assets one of which was Amoco Corporation. Amoco Corporation
conducted an extensive review of its cost structure and profitability (p.2), leading to major
restructurings to better focus on its core businesses. The result of this was a divestment of the middle
section of its assets along marginal curve. Morgan Stanley advised and assisted in the process,
creating MW Petroleum Corporation a new, free standing exploration and production oil and gas
company. MW was offered to a number of targeted international petroleum concerns, but the most
attractive offer came from Apache Corporation. Apache Corporation was an independent oil and gas
company based in Denver, Colorado engaged in exploration, development, and production of oil and
natural gas. Their strategy, rationalize and reconfigure involves acquiring producing properties whose
operations Apache could quickly control and make more efficient, producing significant cost saving
opportunities for the company. The sale of MW Petroleum provides such an opportunity for them.
However, Apache must first carefully evaluate MW s value to come up with a proposal that would be
attractive for Amoco and profitable for Apache as well. CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Opioid Drug Problem
More than 30,000 people are dying every year from Opioid drug addiction. (Katel833). That means
they are leaving behind 30,000 families grieving and at least another 30,000 people they may have
introduced to the addiction of the drugs each year. Opioids drug are a very serious matter that goes
around daily without being noticed. Although some precautions have not been a total fail, recent
epidemic shows the problems with the Opioid drug addiction is bigger than what we can handle and
cannot simply curb the epidemic. There have been precautions made in the past to decrease the rise of
Opioids and other harmful drugs, but nothing has made a big enough impact for it to matter. Congress
has created a Special drug law enforcement agency in the year 1930 to help enforce the drug laws, and
decrease the amount of drugs being imported into the U.S. This Agency was called The Federal

In practice, the executive government does more than simply administer the government and execute

Cardiovascular Disease
Diseases of the cardiovascular and lymphatic system can present itself in many ways. Often these
diseases circulate through the body creating a vehicle for pathogens to spread. We will look at four
different diseases that affect the cardiovascular and lymphatic system. Plague is an infectious disease;
it had a deadly effect on human history. The plague was known as Black Death in the middle ages.
The causative agents of the plague are Yersinia pestis Gram negative bacteria. This bacterium is
usually spread through contact with the vectors or in this case the oriental rat flea, which usually have
direct contact humans. The oriental rat fleas feed on the reservoirs such as Rodents, rats, mice and

The causative agent is Filoviridae ebolavirus. There is no known reservoir for the virus, although
scientists believe that fruit bats may be a possible reservoir because they harbor the disease without
showing any signs or symptoms. Once infected with the virus the symptoms, usually do not appear for
two to twenty one days, which resembles the flu and often mistaken or misdiagnosed as the flu.
However, as the disease progress, bleeding from the inside is noticeable through stool, coughing up
blood, bleeding from the eyes and ears. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for this deadly infection
and usually involves treating the symptoms as they appear. Nursing interventions are a major part in
treating the patient and possible survival from this disease. Priority nursing interventions include,
watching for any changes in the patient s respiration rate and pattern, monitor the patient s fluid and
electrolyte imbalance, intake and output. Also, check and monitor complete blood count and

Healthcare Is Necessary For Health Care
Healthcare is an option that a lot of people need and want as a benefit of their places of employment.
Healthcare is necessary for people to be able to live a healthy lifestyle. Everyone is in need of
healthcare at some point in their life and healthcare is something that is needed to help reduce the out
of pocket cost to the patient. Medical care is necessary but can be very expensive and those out of
pocket expenses can add up. Simple procedures can cost anywhere from hundreds of dollars to
thousands of dollars. Healthcare options help reduce the cost that people pay out of pocket for these
necessary but expensive procedures.
A majority of jobs offer some type of health care benefits to their qualified employees. These qualified
employees usually have to be considered a full time employee or work a certain number of hours a
week in order to receive health care benefits. Losing a job also means that person loses their health

The Tragedy Of King Lear, And The Sorrows Of Young Werther
Greek philosopher Aristotle wrote the book Poetics. Poetics explains what goes into a tragedy to make
a tragedy a good tragedy . Aristotle noted that there are six elements to a tragedy which are most
important. These six elements being Plot, Character, Thought, Diction, Melody, and Spectacle.
Both King Lear, and The Sorrows of Young Werther touch on numerous elements of a good tragedy
imposed by Aristotle in Poetics.
William Shakespeare s King Lear, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s The Sorrows of Young Werther
are both tragedies, with the former being written as a play, and the latter being written as a novel. Both
fall under the genre of tragedy.
While the genre of both King Lear and The Sorrows of Young Werther may be tragedies, there is an
underlying theme that also connects the two. King Lear and The Sorrows of Young Werther are both
tragedies with love as a part of the storyline, but love affects the protagonists in different ways. For
Lear, it is a matter of love and deception, while for Werther, it is love and obsession.
Both of the protagonists have a character flaw. Lear s flaw is that he is easily deceived. Werther s flaw
is his uncontrollable emotions.
For Lear, he is deceived by his daughters, Regan and Goneril, when the two flatter Lear with
exaggerated statements about how much they love Lear. The flattering statements from Goneril and
Regan are exactly what Lear wants to hear. At the beginning stage of the play, Lear is a character who

The process is performed very slowly.
The mistakes in absentee rate might be occurred as the paper form can be lost.

Research Paper On Sour Burps
Sour Burps
Are you one of those people who experience sour burps once in a while during the day? This is a
symptom of acid reflux, which is a common gastrointestinal condition among people over 40 years
old.
Sour burping and sour belch are often uncomfortable and embarrassing. Although most people
associate these symptoms with gastroesophageal reflux disease, there are many other possible factors
that can cause these. Part 1: What Causes Sour Burps?
1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
The most common cause associated with sour burps is GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease,
which is also sometimes called acid reflux. This is often a chronic condition that affects your life in
many ways. Sour burping and belching are common symptoms, but ... Show more content on

Overweight
Obesity is also associated with sour burps because it increases abdominal pressure and contributes to
reflux. Other obesity associated factors that lead to sour burps include overeating, a sedentary
lifestyle, and diabetes, which may delay stomach emptying and result in reflux.
4. Pregnancy
Pregnancy is another factor associated with acid reflux and sour burps. An enlarging uterus increases
intra abdominal pressure while pregnancy hormones act on the LES, making acid reflux common in
many pregnant women. Other pregnancy related factors that may contribute to sour burps include
shortness of breath, anemia, easy fatigue, air swallowing, and overeating.
5. Smoking
Tobacco smoking and tobacco chewing can cause sour burps in various ways, including air
swallowing, weakening of the LES, and increased stomach acid production due to the stimulant effect
of nicotine and other chemicals found in tobacco.
6. Digestive Disorders
Digestive disorders may weaken the LES, delay emptying of your stomach, or produce excessive
stomach acids, contributing to sour burps. This is common with disorders like:
 Gastroparesis
 Gastrinoma
 Hiatal hernia
 Pyloric stenosis
 Intestinal motility disorders

Ethical Aspects of Torrents
The ethical issues surrounding free video games are the same, with game developers and publishers
claiming that game torrents are taking money out of their hands and the hands of their staff. Games are
widely available for purchase and once purchased become property of the gamer. A game can range in
price from a few dollars to around 60 dollars for AAA games (Games created by large companies on
massive budgets). Video games are also almost exclusively downloaded through torrents as game files
are usually very large and directly downloading can be cumbersome and time consuming. This is all
very straightforward, but what happens if the user misplaces or loses the game disc? Since the game is
already that person s property, would there be harm in downloading another game for free? The game
developers say no, and that the game would have to be purchased once more. Many gamers, on the
other hand, believe that they are entitled to a free download as they have already purchased the game
once and the manufacturer will not be losing any revenue. This debate has been around for the last
decades and as of late some developers (mostly indie) have started exclusively selling their product as
a downloadable file. Sites like Steam and GOG.com provide the customer with a code after purchase
that allows many, and sometimes unlimited, downloads. Video game piracy is not exclusive to
computer games. Game consoles like the XBOX 360 and the PlayStation 3 can be hacked or altered to

Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity
Not guilty by reason of insanity is defined as a verdict rendered by a jury in a criminal case that finds
that the defendant was insane at the time of committing the crime as determined by application of the
rest for insanity used in the jurisdiction compare guilty but mentally ill... (FindLaw Legal Dictionary).
This means that someone who has committed a crime cannot be tried as guilty for the crime at hand
due to the determination that the defendant is insane ; a state of mind that prevents normal perception,
behavior, or social interaction... (Google). A person who is determined not guilty by reason of insanity
(NGRI) is sent to a psychiatric hospital for the amount of time given by a judge. The criminally insane
person is given psychiatric care, whether it be prescription pills, milieu therapy or group therapy, until
he or she is believed to be suitable to enter back into society. Whether the person is safe to be back in
society or not is determined by a psychiatrist or doctor that has jurisdiction over the patient. The
question at hand is: When is a criminally insane person able to be apart of society and apart of the real
world after they are determined not guilt by reason of insanity? Criminally insane persons are a threat
to society, which is why they are hospitalized. The criminally insane must reach a certain point or
there must be a reason why they are finally determined able to be conditionally released. The first

Essay about Democratic Peace Theory
The idea that democracies do not fight each other can be traced back to the writings of Immanuel Kant
over two hundred years ago in essay On Perpetual Peace , however, only in the early 1980s and with
the writings of Michael Doyle was the idea consolidated. According to Doyle and other advocates of
the democratic peace theory, liberal democratic states have been able to maintain peaceful relations
amongst themselves, but are prone to wage war against non democratic regimes. In order to prove this
theory, vast databases have been constructed of historical dyadic relationships between states as well
as detailed breakdowns of incidents of inter state war. The conclusions reached are best shown in the
work of Bruce Russett who has argued that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the theory suggests that because democracies externalise their interstate norms, they resolve
disputes with other states like them in a peaceful way. Hence domestic inner state policies influence
their foreign policies. However, this proclamation is disputed by C. Layne who argues that the crux of
this theory is that if the assumption that democracies promote their peaceful inner state norms and
beliefs, then they shouldn t ever threaten other democracies, especially not in a crisis. I will use the
case study of the Trent affair to provide evidence of how war was avoided. I will argue that in this
case, war was avoided not because of the domestic pacific influence on foreign policy but because of
other strategic reasons. In 1861 there was an incident when the British mail ship Trent which was
transporting J. M. Mason and J. Slidell on route from America to England, was stopped by the USS
San Jacinto and the two men were arrested. This caused outrage amongst the British public, writes
Layne, adding some of the reports from the time such as the people are frantic with rage... I have
never seen so intense a feeling of indignation in my life. An ultimatum was immediately sent to
Washington and military threats were given. This indicates that the government, as much as the public,
was very much bellicose. So even though both countries were

Association Among Self Photography and Self Esteem, and Narcissism
The procreation of social media in daily life has caused various questions about how individuals
display themselves in these platform. The recent studies explored the association between self esteem
and the posting of self photographs on a social media networking site such as Instagram, Snapchat and
Facebook. Social media arenas have become strikingly popular in the past decade serving the varied
communicative intentions. Despite the accelerated rise in social media networking industry, the
research has been passive to study the behavior on social media such as self photography which has
been a general issue of conversation in day to day life. One of the big questioning is about what one s
behavior on social media might express his or her personality traits. Self esteem and narcissism have
frequently been considered as crucial awareness in the growth of selfie industry (Cosima, 2016;
Mirshak, 2016). Individuals with narcissistic personality may be more likely to post selfies on social
media networking sites than others. Actually, a recent research study revealed that the frequency of
selfie postings on social networking sites was notably correlated with self reported narcissism among
adult males (Tomko, 2016). Besides, since it is possible for individuals to discreetly pick and edit the
posts, and even decide who is not allowed to access their posts, individuals with low self esteem may
be more likely

A Feminist Novel The Penelopiad By Margaret Atwood Essay
The Penelopiad is a novella by Margaret Atwood, published in 2005 in the Canongate Myth Series
where contemporary authors rewrite ancient myths. Atwood often portrays female characters
dominated and oppressed by patriarchy in her novels. Atwood believes that the feminist label can only
be applied to writers who consciously work within the framework of the feminist movement. The
novella s central themes include the effects of story telling perspectives, double standards between the
sexes and the classes, and the fairness of justice. Atwood s novel gives a voice to her hardships and the
wits she uses to get through her rough life, which is a form of the Feminist Resistance Theory. In The
Penelopiad , Penelope reminisces on the events during the Odyssey, life in Hades, Odysseus, Helen
and her relationships with her parents. A chorus of the twelve maids, whom Odysseus believed were
disloyal and whom Telemachus hanged, interrupt Penelope s narrative to express their view on the
events. The present paper is an analysis of the characterization of Penelope as the strongest woman in
Margaret Atwood s play The Penelopaid .
Key words: True Confessions, uniqueness, ideal wife, judicial arbiter, Resistance Essentialist,
essentialist feminism.
DETAILED PAPER
Margaret Atwood was born in Ottawa in 1939, and grew up in northern Quebec and Ontario, and later
in Toronto. Atwood is a long line of women authors with feminist involvement. Atwood really became

Before the writings of the federalist, theorist mostly believed that small parts of society could be
capable of supporting republican governments, since they were able to maintain and support of the
republican and institutions. At the mercy of tyrannical majorities, wide parts of society lack the
difference between collective of goods and private interest. They were better left to be governed by
better monarchs.
Advocating the establishment of the republican government for 13 states in America, James Madison
proposed to larger republics than the past, but deferred in form or James Madison Jr. traveled in

based on the data provided by TRI, a quick service restaurant company. Given the data, their goal of
this research is to predict the revenue so that they can decide whether it is wise to open a new
restaurant at some places. In this paper, we first want to find a linear model to predict this data. Due to
the limitation of the linear model, several methods, such as PCA (principle component analysis), ridge
regression and robust regression, are used for improving the performance of the original model. Main
issue solved in this paper is the multicollinearity problem. In the original data, 37 continuous variables
are highly collinear. The PCA, ridge regression and robust regression are helpful in some ways.
Finally, we come up with some predictions and use the known data to test the accuracy of our model.

regression, ridge regression, linear regression Section 1: Introduction With over 1,200 quick

Travis Roy Analysis
Travis Roy s presentation was one for the books. His story is inspiring, motivating, and touching.
After listening to him talk, I realized just how blessed I am. I have a healthy, capable body that allows
me to do pretty much whatever I want. What stood out to me the most of Travis presentation was his
positive attitude. Even though he had been paralyzed, he made the best of it. He challenged all of us in
the room to have a positive attitude no matter what we were going through. Someone always has it
worse. A positive attitude can go a long way, without someone even realizing it. Travis pointed out
how if he had not chosen to look at the bright side of things, he would be living a very sad, unfulfilling
life. Life is all about the mindset

  • 2. Immanuel Kant Deontology Deontology The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily produce a good outcome for society. Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by contrast, is dependent on moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers on the principles of 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying, murdering and breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI) This moral theory stems from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty. Deontology states that an action s morality holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong action does not make it s outcome ethical. In other words, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Community Within A Sixth Grade Classroom Introduction As an educator, I always believe that the classroom is the epitome of a social community in which culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse students function, learn, and succeed through collaborations with their classmates and me. In order for my pedagogical efforts to be effective, a learning community should be established, administered, and maintained because students will not learn or respond to my motivational attempts if they feel insecure, disconnected, or negative. The concept I am interested in is the establishment of an interactive and connective learning community within a sixth grade classroom. Because certain needs must be fulfilled before teaching and pedagogical strategies become effective, lower level needs should be satisfied before higher level needs can be functional and operative. Not only can the satisfaction and motivation of students be affected by the very nature of learning and the outcomes they expect to gain, but also by the learning environment they situate and their relationships with peers, and most specifically, their feelings and perceptions about me. Therefore, constructing an optimal social and learning community is absolutely indispensable to my class and the formation of emotional bonds between my students and me. A learning community serves as a reminder for educators that students come to class to acquire enriching and empowering dispositions, knowledge, skills, and values, which go beyond merely performing tasks and ... • 4. The Opposing case of Texas v. Johnson The Supreme Court s decision on the case of Texas v. Johnson has been a controversial one, as it involves the burning of our national symbol, the American flag. It leads to the question: Does the desecration of the American flag a way of expressing speech that is protected by the first amendment? Shouldn t the destruction of a true American symbol be protected and preserved, as it is a symbol that represents our country? There is a great amount of criticism that Texas v. Johnson has been faced with; most of which are valid points that could contribute to possibly overriding this decision of Texas v. Johnson in the future. August 22, 1984, marked the day of the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, Texas. Gregory Lee Johnson was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The flag is a symbol of freedom and prosperity, and of hope. It is also used to express patriotism for example, in which solders raise the flag to symbolize an American victory in war. The American flag is the symbol that exemplifies our nation. Justice Stevens, who disagreed with the majority s argument, states in his dissenting opinion that: The ideas of liberty and equality have been an irresistible force in motivating leaders like Patrick Henry, Susan B. Anthony, and Abraham Lincoln, schoolteachers like Nathan Hale and Booker T. Washington, the Philippine Scouts who fought at Bataan, and the soldiers who scaled the bluff at Omaha Beach. If those ideas are worth fighting for and our history demonstrates that they are it cannot be true that the flag that uniquely symbolizes their power is not itself worthy of protection from unnecessary desecration. (Texas v. Johnson, 1989, Dissenting Opinion, http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0491_0397_ZD1.html) The desecration of the flag is a way of expressing your feelings against the country, while showing no appreciation for what these people have done to make our country the way it is. It is a symbolic way to express hatred towards the US, and it should not be allowed, as the flag characterizes our history and who we are as a country, the fifty United States of America. Even though the first amendment allows freedom of speech, does not mean that there cannot be punishment for disrespecting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of the many items that help enhance the horror of the Nazi Holocaust, one of the most notable is what it had of systematic and bureaucratic. Not only killing people, which would have had already been enough, but precisely being made in a quiet and civilized way. It is not strange the image of the Nazi leader quoting his favorite poet while sending to death hundreds of people, belying the myth that culture and education make people better. The Holocaust was primarily an act performed with such rationality that could only become insane. It is the practice of making objective judgments regarding the extent to which the system meets, exceeds or fails to meet stated objectives. A good testing program is a tool for both the developer and the end user; it basically identifies the end of the development part of the project, establishes the criteria for project acceptance, and establishes the start of the warranty period. Travel competes in the travel business, helping customers sort out their travel options and booking travel for them. In this market, there are numerous competitors, but each tailors its service slightly differently. There are low barriers to entry, and all firms are in business to maximize profit. Lastly, firms in this market are typically not price takers, because they have the ability to reach consumers (Investopedia, 2012). These are the four basic characteristics of firms in monopolistic competition, and that therefore is the type of market structure faced by Results. There are a wide range of competitors in this market. Some firms also do travel planning, and this segment of the industry is highly fragmented. There are some chains still in the business and there are also a large number of independent operators. Some of the customer segments include vacationers and corporations. A lot of competition in this industry has migrated to the Internet. Results competes against do it yourself travel planning websites like Expedia or Hotwire, in addition to new startups that seek out different markets as a result of the highly heterogeneous nature of the industry (Gannes, 2010). The Pawnee tribe is really known as the Pawnee tribe of Oklahoma. The Pawnee are originally from Kansas and Nebraska but they were forced to move from these states and had to be moved onto a reservation in Oklahoma. They were moved onto this reservation in Oklahoma in the 1800 s, and most of the tribe have been in Oklahoma ever since. On their reservation, they have many ways that they are organized unlike other Plains Indian tribes. The Pawnee have their own police, laws, government, and their own public services. Although it may seem, that since they have all these things, it makes them a small country inside of a country, the people of the Pawnee tribe are still U.S. Citizens and therefore have to follow American laws. Even though the Pawnee tribe is originally from the states of Nebraska and Kansas, they are federally recognized as being from Oklahoma. The Pawnee group of people are unique in many different ways. The men, women, and children all have different jobs than each other. The men were usually the hunters and went to war to protect their family only when needed. The men would take their children, usually boys, on hunting and fishing trips. The women of the tribe would cook, take care of the children while the father was out, and they were the farmers as well. The children of the tribe would go to school, help ... The slave trade, greedily aided by local chiefs, gradually undermined the authority of the king, and twenty five years after Afonso s death the state succumbed to the onslaught of the Jaga, a belligerent horde of nomads from the east (Microsoft 4). With Portuguese help, the invaders were finally ousted, but by this time the life had gone out of the ravaged kingdom (July 155). Clearly, turmoil, victimization, and disappointment are themes that have pervaded Angola s history, especially since the arrival of the Europeans in the fifteenth century (Collelo xxi). In 1576, in effective control of the countryside and facing no organized Kongo opposition, the Portuguese founded the town of Luanda, in effect establishing the colony of Angola (Bender 24). After the Portuguese began reaching the interior, they soon appointed royal governors who tried to impose their ideas and beliefs upon the people (Halladay 82). Many African leaders resisted this foreign rule and the Europeans only managed to establish insecure footholds along the coast (Collelo 9). It involves being able to take control of certain situations, and leading in the correct direction. Being a leader takes great knowledge and skill. It involves one being able to make smart decisions in order for his/her congregation to come out as successful. A leader must also know, that it is wise to have people in his/her corner to advise them of good or bad decisions. President Barack Obama has his Vice President, Joe Biden, along with his elite White House staff, including the Secretary of State, to help with major decisions that could affect the nation. Pastors have deacons who help them lead their congregation, or church, in the right path of reaching others, who are seeking for help and prayer in time of need. • 18. The Multi Store Model And The Working Memory Model Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain and subsequently recall information and past experiences in the human brain (Luke Mastin,2010). In this review I am going to focus on the multi store model and the working memory model, which explain in detail how memory works. The multi store model (MSM) of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968), explains that the memory is made up of three different stores. These are: sensory memory (SM), short term memory(STM) and long term memory(LTM). This model explains how each store works in terms of encoding, duration and capacity. The SM obtains the information from environmental stimuli through our five senses which are touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. In SM the encoding is either visual, auditory or haptic; duration is ¼ to ½ seconds and the capacity is all sensory experience(McLeod S.A,2007). Attention is essential for the information to transfer to the STM, otherwise it is lost through decay. The information in the STM is mostly encoded acoustically. The diagram below shows us how the information is transferred from one store to another. According to Miller s Magic number 7 (1956) most adults can store from 5 to 9 items, therefore STM is known to have a capacity of 7+/ 2 items and a duration of up to 18 seconds. The information in this store can be lost through displacement which is replacing the old information with new ones or forgetting it (decay). There are two types of rehearsals. Maintenance rehearsal is not effective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joan used New Journalism techniques in her writing by using imagery to make a connection with the reader and convey morality. She first presents examples then builds up her essay to define what being immoral is. She uses the definition and her example to close the essay and bring the reader back to the purpose of the passage, to inform the reader of her opinion on morality. Landfills and their Effects on the Enviroment Essay Landfills And Their Effects On Humans And The Enviroment Every year Americans collectively create approximately 208 million tons of municipal solid waste, which breaks down to 4.3 pounds of waste generated per American per day. In addition to this normal waste, the United States produces roughly 279 million tons of hazardous waste per year.1 All of this waste has to go somewhere. Two good methods of waste disposal, infrequently used, are incineration and recycling. However, any waste that is not recycled or incinerated ends up in America s landfills. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rock should be as nonporous as possible to stop waste from seeping into the groundwater, but one must be able to predict where the waste will go if it escapes through the liner of the landfill.5 The next layer is the bottom liner of the landfill, which can be made of one or more layers of natural or synthetic materials. The liner is the landfill s defense to keep the waste out of the environment. This liner can be made of clay, plastic, or a composite of plastic and clay soil. Natural liners, made of clays and shales, often crack and allow the waste to enter the environment. In addition, some chemicals can soak into the clay, thus causing additional harm to the environment.6 The Geomembranes, liners made of plastic, may seem like they are the best available today, but many household chemicals can break down the plastic, and it can be easily punctured.7 Thus, like natural liners, Geomembranes may also allow waste to enter the environment. Combinations of the different kinds of liners can be more effective than the use of a single material.8 The leachate collection system is what collects any water that has been contaminated by seeping through the waste in a landfill. Leachate refers to the water that has been contaminated. This is an example of the slide rule which could be seen as older technology being used for a new purpose. Some say that that Buzz Aldrin needed the slide rule for calculations just before landing. This further shows the ease of use of this tool. • 42. Josh s The Message I found Josh s presentation on The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five to be very compelling. Rap music is the most popular genre of music amongst American adolescence, and especially amongst Latino and African American adolescence. Although an immensely popular genre, and one which I am a regular listener, I was completely unaware about the origins of this music genre. After hearing Josh s presentation, I feel more appropriately informed about this genre s history and the ways in which its founders and early promoters used this musical form as both an escape and a means of articulating their hardships. In his presentation, Josh provided a thorough history and explanation of the circumstances in which the song s writers lived, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chorus exposes how painfully difficult it was to maintain sanity for the individuals living in South Bronx at times, and each set of lyrics presents a new reason as to why the circumstances are bleak. For example, discussing how a young woman moved to the city in the hopes of pursuing a more exciting life is forced to turn to prostitution and acquire a pimp because she is unable to maintain an income otherwise, and the different mentions of theft, an inadequate education system, infestation of rats and cockroaches in homes, and the filth of the community which was the only place many could afford to live. The forced laugh at the end emphasizes an achieve happiness, or at the least maintain sanity. The rappers weren t blissful or happy about the circumstances they described, and the way in which the laugh is articulated in a choppy and forced nature makes that very clear. Ultimately, I really enjoyed Josh s presentation because he gave the class a thorough, insider perspective into life in South Bronx by elaborating on the history and explaining the meaning behind various lines in The ... • 44. Essay about Democratic Peace Theory The idea that democracies do not fight each other can be traced back to the writings of Immanuel Kant over two hundred years ago in essay On Perpetual Peace , however, only in the early 1980s and with the writings of Michael Doyle was the idea consolidated. According to Doyle and other advocates of the democratic peace theory, liberal democratic states have been able to maintain peaceful relations amongst themselves, but are prone to wage war against non democratic regimes. In order to prove this theory, vast databases have been constructed of historical dyadic relationships between states as well as detailed breakdowns of incidents of inter state war. The conclusions reached are best shown in the work of Bruce Russett who has argued that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the theory suggests that because democracies externalise their interstate norms, they resolve disputes with other states like them in a peaceful way. Hence domestic inner state policies influence their foreign policies. However, this proclamation is disputed by C. Layne who argues that the crux of this theory is that if the assumption that democracies promote their peaceful inner state norms and beliefs, then they shouldn t ever threaten other democracies, especially not in a crisis. I will use the case study of the Trent affair to provide evidence of how war was avoided. I will argue that in this case, war was avoided not because of the domestic pacific influence on foreign policy but because of other strategic reasons. In 1861 there was an incident when the British mail ship Trent which was transporting J. M. Mason and J. Slidell on route from America to England, was stopped by the USS San Jacinto and the two men were arrested. This caused outrage amongst the British public, writes Layne, adding some of the reports from the time such as the people are frantic with rage... I have never seen so intense a feeling of indignation in my life. An ultimatum was immediately sent to Washington and military threats were given. This indicates that the government, as much as the public, was very much bellicose. So even though both countries were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Association Among Self Photography and Self Esteem, and Narcissism The procreation of social media in daily life has caused various questions about how individuals display themselves in these platform. The recent studies explored the association between self esteem and the posting of self photographs on a social media networking site such as Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. Social media arenas have become strikingly popular in the past decade serving the varied communicative intentions. Despite the accelerated rise in social media networking industry, the research has been passive to study the behavior on social media such as self photography which has been a general issue of conversation in day to day life. One of the big questioning is about what one s behavior on social media might express his or her personality traits. Self esteem and narcissism have frequently been considered as crucial awareness in the growth of selfie industry (Cosima, 2016; Mirshak, 2016). Individuals with narcissistic personality may be more likely to post selfies on social media networking sites than others. Actually, a recent research study revealed that the frequency of selfie postings on social networking sites was notably correlated with self reported narcissism among adult males (Tomko, 2016). Besides, since it is possible for individuals to discreetly pick and edit the posts, and even decide who is not allowed to access their posts, individuals with low self esteem may be more likely ... A Feminist Novel The Penelopiad By Margaret Atwood Essay The Penelopiad is a novella by Margaret Atwood, published in 2005 in the Canongate Myth Series where contemporary authors rewrite ancient myths. Atwood often portrays female characters dominated and oppressed by patriarchy in her novels. Atwood believes that the feminist label can only be applied to writers who consciously work within the framework of the feminist movement. The novella s central themes include the effects of story telling perspectives, double standards between the sexes and the classes, and the fairness of justice. Atwood s novel gives a voice to her hardships and the wits she uses to get through her rough life, which is a form of the Feminist Resistance Theory. In The Penelopiad , Penelope reminisces on the events during the Odyssey, life in Hades, Odysseus, Helen and her relationships with her parents. A chorus of the twelve maids, whom Odysseus believed were disloyal and whom Telemachus hanged, interrupt Penelope s narrative to express their view on the events. Given the data, their goal of this research is to predict the revenue so that they can decide whether it is wise to open a new restaurant at some places. In this paper, we first want to find a linear model to predict this data. Due to the limitation of the linear model, several methods, such as PCA (principle component analysis), ridge regression and robust regression, are used for improving the performance of the original model. Main issue solved in this paper is the multicollinearity problem. In the original data, 37 continuous variables are highly collinear. The PCA, ridge regression and robust regression are helpful in some ways. Finally, we come up with some predictions and use the known data to test the accuracy of our model. Even though he had been paralyzed, he made the best of it. He challenged all of us in the room to have a positive attitude no matter what we were going through. Someone always has it worse. A positive attitude can go a long way, without someone even realizing it.
