My Personal History With Communication Technology
As I look back at my personal history with communication technology I remember using many forms
of social media to communicate with my friends and family. Back in the day when I was in junior high
I remember using MySpace, Skype, and phone calls. Today on the other hand I mainly use Facebook,
Instagram, and Snapchat. There are many reasons why I use these sites but I use some sites more
frequently than others it just depends on the person I want to communicate with.
My social media usage varies on the purpose I want to use it for or with whom I want to communicate
with. The reason I used MySpace in the past was to be cool like the rest of my friends that were using
it during that time. Before I had my own cell phone I was able to have my own MySpace account. The
reason I would use MySpace is because everyone at school would use it, so I wanted to fit in with the
rest of my friends. I used MySpace to talk friends that had added me or friends of friends that I knew
about but had never met in person. I would use it to communicate with them rather than calling them
on the phone. MySpace was the site where I could portray myself in any way I wanted. I had the
choice of what pictures people could see of me, which music I liked, and other personal things that I
could choose to display. MySpace was a way for me to have some kind of social interactions with
people I did not necessarily know, love, or have an attraction to. MySpace was just a way to keep
myself connected with society

My Characteristics Of Myself
Normality is a paved road. It s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it. Van Gogh
Multiple characteristics of myself that have throughout my life have shaped me into the person that I
am today. One of them is my intelligence which, while not on some ridiculously high level, is
something that I have grown to value as I considered myself a person of great perception, being a
young man who appreciates logic and mathematical thinking, possesses a desire to look for the hidden
truth behind webs of contradictions/inconsistencies, love analyzing details and piecing together
information, as well as using creativity to solve problems and puzzles. Another trait of mine that is the
main focus of this essay is none other my eccentricity, which may be correlated to my intelligence.
I m what some have labeled me as a weirdo , which I ve learned has both positive and negative
connotations, and usually the negative connotation applied to me. I m an introverted and quiet person
who, although doesn t mind socializing a bit from time to time with people that I m comfortable with,
prefers to be by himself and do his own thing. When I am interacting with others, which is not a usual
thing, I come off as awkward and uncomfortable. Even by my loneself I m still perform eccentric
habits and quirky movements. Always bottling up my complex emotions and deep thoughts, I ve faced
hardships in expressing them to others in a way that can being understood. The only situation where I
feel like I can truly express myself to others is through texting, in other words not face to face (I m a
textrovert). In addition, I m what I considered myself as a nefelibata, a term most people don t know
the meaning of: a cloud walker or one who lives in the cloud of their own imagination or dreams. My
mind spend most of its time wandering around in the land of . not abiding by the precepts of society.
In fact, regardless of how I depict myself to others, anyone who observe my actions can see the truth
as plain as day; I m nothing more than an unconventional, unorthodox person. Of course, not everyone
would like an outlandish person such as myself, and soon did I also dislike a part of myself.
The notion that I was something bizarre and

Television vs. Reality
It is 8:30 Monday night and the whole family is in the living room watching the Fox network s
primetime hit Ally McBeal . Suddenly, just after the program resumes after a painstakingly long
commercial break, you see a man and a woman lying in bed talking to each other after having a night
of hot, passionate sex. You look down and see your ten year old son or daughter lying on the floor just
staring at the TV, taking it all in. You begin channel surfing, and end up on channel 3, CBS. There is a
brand new sitcom being aired called Some of My Best Friends . Almost immediately after you and
your family begin viewing this program, two men, both proclaiming to be gay, begin kissing and
embracing each other. Upset by all of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proves that in this show, most relationships are based on sexual attraction, instead of cognitive
relationships. Then he asked his roommate to break up with the woman for him, since he had to leave.
In reality, most people like to believe that sex is a sign of love and, although there are also many
exceptions to this rule, many still try and live by it. Today there are also many fears about AIDS and
sexually transmitted diseases being spread. The characters on Friends seem to be completely immune
and ignorant of sexually transmitted diseases while having sex with many different partners. Finally,
another aspect that is falsely portrayed in this show is homosexuality. It seems that almost everywhere
the main characters go there are homosexuals that are either hanging around the main characters or are
attracted to them. In reality, the homosexual population only makes up around 10 12% of the U.S.
population, so it would be unlikely that the main characters would run into that many homosexuals in
the small areas where they live.
The next show that I have researched is the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond . Even though
this show falls into the same category as Friends , the shows are very different. One difference is that
the main character in Everybody Loves Raymond is married. On Friends , all of the main characters
are single, and they have sexual relations more frequently. Everybody Loves Raymond does not
present as much sex as most sitcoms

A Dance With Dragon Research Paper
In the novel, A Dance with Dragons, renowned author George R.R. Martin writes A reader lives a
thousand lives before he dies. A man who never reads lives only one. As a child, I thought I had
experienced every joy there was in the world. Little did I know there was an entire universe, a land
filled with magical creatures and astonishing new inventions, just lying in wait for me to explore its
depths. To open up a book and learn about the thrills and adventures associated with reading is similar
to changing lifestyles at the turn of a page.. Throughout my life, reading on my parent s lap,
experiencing my first series of novels, and truly understanding the elation that came with opening up a
good book all helped me develop the love of reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reading in school and at home began to seem more like a menial task that had to be seen through to
completion due to the wishes of my superiors. Due to the boyish nature of my personality, I wanted to
go outside and play games, not sit inside and read quietly. Then, while I was playing soccer during
recess at school, I dove for the ball and heard a cracking sound. I had broken my arm. Immediately,
my parents were summoned to school and I went to the hospital to get a cast. Devastation struck me as
the doctor proclaimed that I was not going to play sports until the cast came off. During the first few
days wearing the cast, I tended to sit around and wallow in self pity. Then, I realized that, if I was not
allowed to enjoy myself, I might as well do something productive. So, I picked up the book nearest
me, which happened to be Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I was dreading the hours of
boredom I was about to face. However, as I began to read, I realized that reading was more enjoyable
than simply running around. When I read, I was transformed into a new character every time. Each
book allowed me to experience a new lifestyle. No other form of entertainment was quite as thrilling.
Over the summer, my cast came off, but, due to the wonderful novels I read while my cast was still on,
I maintained a lifelong love of reading new

The Cerebellum Research Paper
The Cerebellum
The little brain, or cerebellum, in many ways resembles a smaller version of the cerebral cortex (e.g.,
it contains two distinct hemispheres) and is located just behind and underneath it. The cerebellum
works as an integrator, allowing us to control and process our perceptions and motor movements.
Many neural pathways link the cerebellum with both the cerebral cortex and the spinal cord. The
cerebellum smoothly integrates these pathways, receiving feedback about body s position and using
this information to direct our movement.
Because the cerebellum modifies motor movement rather than producing it, damage to the cerebellum
causes movement related difficulties rather than paralysis. These difficulties tend to be most obvious

Charter Of Rights
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a bill of rights which is a part of the Constitution of
Canada, forming the first part of the 1982 Constitution Act. In general, it guarantees Canadian citizens
and residents fundamental freedoms, democratic rights, mobility rights, legal rights and equality rights
within reasonable limits. The Constitution Act (1982), of which included the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms, was pushed by Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau in 1980 in order to enact the British
North America Act (1867) as well as the Bill of Rights (1960). The enactment of the British North
America Act would have allowed Canada to have its constitution completely independent of Britain;
in response to the 1980 Quebec Referendum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, in turn, allows us to ensure that the rights of individuals are respected and that it can be protected
in court. Given that rights and freedoms have been protected in Charters in most countries for decades,
if not centuries, it is safe to say that we take these rights for granted. We have grown in a society that
always respects one s rights and freedoms, that we believe that it is the norm, rather than appreciating
that it is something that a privileged society has. I, too have taken these rights for granted, however, by
learning about the limited rights and freedoms offered in a sovereign country, North Korea, I have
learned to appreciate these rights. Through watching the documentaries, I had learned that rights and
freedoms in our Charter that we see as fundamental are not present in various countries such as North
Korea. Given this, I have come to realize how lucky I am to have these rights that are protected by a
Charter and begun to appreciate having these rights. Citizens can protect their Charter rights by
learning specifically what rights and freedoms are protected in order to present to other their
constitutional rights should they try to violate them. As well, if the rights are violated, citizens can
take a case to court in order to be compensated for the violation.

Jfk Assassination Research Paper
The assassination that shocked the nation
¨ We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light the candle that can guide us through that darkness
to a safe and sane future¨ John F. Kennedy. John F. Kennedy was born on May 27th 1917. He became
the 35th president of the united states in January 1961. The JFK assassination shocked the world and
left many pieces to an uncompleted puzzle behind it.
First things first, The JFK assassination impacted the nation for some period of time. The JFK
assassination was in Dallas November 22th, 1963 and was considered the crime of the century
(Warren commission). Next, The gunman Lee Harvey Oswald was also hired to kill officer Tippit and
then fled to a movie theater where he was caught (Diane Brown ... Show more content on

First It has been revealed that some information regarding the plot of the murder will never be
released (Sarah Putt). Next ¨ someone also tipped off a London reporter about ¨big news¨ in the United
States 20 minutes before the assassination (Sarah Putt). Robert Rawls told a navy intelligence officer
that he overheard someone at a bar bet 100$ on Kennedy s death (Sara Putt). An ex CIA officer
believes the white house and the agency are actually concealing the most important documents (Sarah
Putt). The evidence suggests Oswald could have been part of a conspiracy, but the theory has not yet
been proven. The second theory is proven by the evidence presented by Sarah Putt which gives a
strong case and gives theorists a difficult challenge.
Lastly, even though JFK s death was tragic the puzzle left behind, it is one filled with twists and turns.
The 1st theory shows how the assassination could have been revenge for Fidel Castro. The 2nd theory
gives evidence that could suggest that Oswald could have been part of a much larger conspiracy. The
assassination of John F. Kennedy was a tragedy that set the nation in a period of grief and shocked the
world. These are just two theories how many could there be? Maybe the world will never know the
truth about this

The Rosenbergs Essay
The history of the United States is full of unsolved mysteries. One of the greatest mysteries which
occurred in 1953 was the electrocution of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg under the Espionage Act. They
were convicted for giving the secret information about the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. The anti
communist sentiment that characterized the Cold War and McCarthyism led to their trial and
execution. Even though there is some evidence of the Rosenbergs guilt, numerous facts which were
discovered after the death of Ethel and Julius argue more convincingly that they were innocent victims
of Cold War hysteria. the United States almost as soon as Nazi Germany was defeated in 1945. quot;

were selling the secrets of nuclear weapons to the Soviet Union. They arrested many people including
Klaus Fuchs who was a member of the Manhattan Project and who was selling information about the
atomic bomb to Moscow. McCarthy and Hoover quot;began a massive witch hunt, quot; which led to
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. (Moss,220 222)
On July 17, 1950 Julius Rosenberg was arrested for spying and giving secrets about the atomic bomb
to Russia. On August 11,1950 his wife Ethel Rosenberg was arrested on the charge of aiding her
husband in spy activities.(Moss, 225) On Friday, June 19, 1953 Ethel and Julius were electrocuted in
New York State s Sing Sing Prison. Their sons, Michael who was ten and Robert who was six were
sent to foster homes and later were adopted by Anne and Abel Meeropol in 1957.(Moss, 224) How did
the FBI find out that the Rosenbergs were spying and how did the investigation begin?
The investigation began when the FBI found a name, Klaus Fuchs, written in a notebook of a Russian
spy. Dr. Fuchs had worked on Manhattan Project (the secret name for the project which worked on the
development of the atomic bomb) from 1943 to 1946. When Dr. Fuchs was arrested, he confessed that
he was giving the information about the bomb to the Soviet Union. However, Fuchs was not the only
one. Harry Gold who was a Philadelphia biochemist said that he was told by his Soviet contact
Yakovlev to meet Fuchs in Santa Fe New Mexico on June 2, 1945, where Fuchs would give him

Papa John s Argument Analysis
On its website, Papa John s Pizza proclaims its product with the following message: better ingredients,
better pizza. The company wanted to achieve product diversity, therefore it continued to push its
boundaries. While there are a lot of pizza eateries to choose from, it is apparent that not all are equal.
This was not apparent to one of Papa John s competitors, Pizza Hut, who found the claim to be
deceptive. In 1995, Papa John s hired a consulting firm called Trout Partners, and they coined the
tagline that has become synonymous with the now multi billion dollar company (Duncan, 2017). In a
court case filed by Pizza Hut, the appeal presents a false advertising claim against Papa John s slogan

Papa John s pizza was created from vision and determination of using high quality ingredients. The

Papa John s advertisement claim was misleading and that it influenced the purchasing decision of

misleading statement of fact conveyed by the ads and the slogan were material to consumers in
making their purchasing decisions (Altahawi, 2000). As result, the court rejected all forms presented

conclusions resulted from Papa John s advertisement or that it unfairly persuaded the experiences of

Examples Of Identity In Brave New World
Community, Identity, Stability is the motto of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. the World State s
motto, COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY (Huxley, 5). Basically, these words describe the
society of the new world and are the basics in building a perfect world as well as the main goals of
Utopia. Community is the relationship between the classes in the society of the World State that live
together. Even during death, a body is not left alone. Identity refers to the five castes within the
society: Epsilons, Alphas, Gammas, Betas, and Deltas. Identity differs among each caste based on

The connection among the societies gets stronger when people have sex with a person of their choice.
Community is achieved by systemizing life so that one is almost never alone. The people of the Brave
New World are controlled by a Controller known as Mustapha Mond in order to achieve Community.
Community is in part a result of identity and stability (Pearce, 1998). Every child lives together
without any parents and is conditioned to feel and think the same way as others and to fear and have
the same likes and dislikes, as well as the similar beliefs as the other residents of the New World.
Community is also achieved through a religion that satirizes Christianity. In relation to this religion,
the elder residents of the New World are urged to participate in the Solidarity Service which includes
community sing that one has to attend about once a week which makes everyone feel connected.
Solitude and loneliness does not exist in Brave New World because everyone often entertains each
other. Every caste benefits each other, fulfilling the idea of Community. Every one works for every
one else. We can t do without any one. Even Epsilons are useful. We couldn t do without Epsilons

Reasons Of The European Expansion In The 15th Century
The European Expansion was motivated purely by the religious rivalries among the European powers.
European nations in the 15th century began exploring new lands with three motives: religion, wealth,
and glory. It was made possible by advances in naval fleet building and navigation, first pioneered by
the Portuguese. Europeans began to be involved in extensive exploration, coming in contact with
Africa, Americas and their prime target Asia. The main targets of the pioneering Portugese and
Spanish was to find and alternate trade route for the Indies trade and also promote Christianity to the
new lands. As the century unfolded, the search for newer territories to colonize and shortern routes to
the exotic land of spices and silk became the initial driving force for the intensive early exploration by
the Europeans . Religious motives of the Old Land of Europe s exploration can be traced back to the
days of the Crusades down to the 11th and 15th century, where the European Christians tried to invade
and claim the city of Jerusalem from its Muslim control. The struggle between the Islamic rule and the
European Christians planted the ideology of Reconquista in the latter s religion. It influenced the
Christian religion with an air of religious intolerance. With the Protestant Reformation in the 16th
century, European Catholic s interests in colonizing newer lands and declare global dominance earned
a new momentum. And strong Catholic nations of Spain and Portugal were the

Similarities Between Itunes And Itunes
In early 1800 s, Thomas Alva Edison invented a method of recording and playing back sound with a
simple apparatus. Thus began the evolution of music industry. From gramophones to tapes to compact
discs, music industry has undergone drastic transformations with improvised technologies and
innovations.
Fifteen years ago (June 1,1999), the style of listening and sharing music has been completely
revolutionized by two teenagers, Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker. They created an online platform for
swapping music and named it NAPSTER. Thus began the era of online music. Though Napster was
initially a great success, their service was considered to be illegal and legal battles eventually ruined
Napster. However, online music industry continued to stay in light with companies like apple
providing legal ways to purchase and download music online.
In this paper, I wish to analyze and compare two major online music stores iTunes and Amazon MP3.
These online stores have totally transformed the way music is sold and purchased.

In an advancing world of genetics, a man named John Hammond has successfully used preserved

Furthermore, he plans to show his creations to the world in a new theme park which he has named
Jurassic Park . Prior to the official opening, Hammond invites his grandchildren and experts Alan

are all amazed by the fact that not only has Hammond revitalized the tallest and smallest of dinosaurs
in the exhibits, but also the fiercest with two Tyrannosaurus Rexes and multiple Velociraptors. Wonder
of Hammond s feat soon turns to horror though as the management of the park goes awry. Those who

The Importance Of Organ Donation
Over the past several years, the argument of whether or not compensating donors is ethical and
financially benefitting for everyone has been heavily debated. The interest for life saving organ
donation has such little supply that the doctors of waiting patients are so desperate that they believe
compensation is their only option. Enhanced survival rates combined with unfaltering development of
signs for transplantation make the organ deficiency progressively severe; waiting times are now
deplorably long. In order to cut the waiting period, compensating donors will promote more
individuals to become donors. Although there are many people who disagree with the idea to
compensate donors, people who donate their kidneys should be compensated because more
individuals will be drawn to donate their kidneys in return for monetary value. Additionally, donors
should be compensated because they are giving an organ from their body part away.
Individuals and their families pay for dialysis each year hoping they will be chosen to receive the next
available organ they have been longing for. These individuals often do not think about how they could
be paying a donor for a much lower price instead of dialysis which does not guarantee the organ you
desire. The interest for organ donation has reliably surpassed supply, and the large gap between the
quantity of recipients on the waiting list and the quantity of donors has increased. If a larger supply of
organs was available to the large

Richard Graff s Hidden Intellectualism, By Gerald Graff
Contained within Gerald Graff s, Hidden Intellectualism, are several eye opening ideas. Graff main
point in his essay, is that non intellectual topics can be written or talked about in an academic way.
Graff uses his past stating that he has street smarts, and that it was a form knowledge. In a way, he
negatively scrutinizes the public education for overlooking the intellect of those who aren t skilled
academically. One thing that I believe is very fundamental is that he says, They would be more prone
to take on intellectual identities if we encouraged them to do so at first on subjects that interest them
rather than ones that interest us. He puts it plain and simple that you can take street topics and make
them into intellectual debates. Sport uniforms created by Nike are feats of technology, football
uniforms on the collegiate have reinvented the game. Graff stats, Sports after all was full of
challenging arguments, debates, problems for analysis. For example, some teams wear different
uniforms every week, how does this impact the way athletes perform. Sometimes the colors or style
someone makes their mental game change. This is a topic that can lead to heated debates and scientific
analysis. One collegiate football team that changes uniforms almost every week is the The Oregon
Ducks. They are always integrating the newest and best technology, which is designed by Nike to help
their players perform better. Oregon is somewhat privileged, because the co founder of

Political Changes In Chile
Located between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Chile is a narrow but large country in
south western South America. Chile declared its independence from Spain in 1818 and was stable
throughout the 19th century. During the mid 1900 s, Chile saw a large economic and territorial
increase, however by 1960 they were experiencing extreme political mayhem. This mayhem lasted
through the Cold War and impacted the country of Chile immensely. In 1961, US President John F.
Kennedy helped to establish the Alliance for Progress. This attempted to bring reform and
development to Chile and other Latin American areas. When Salvador Allende came to power he

The Trouble With Teenage Curfews
Would you let the government tell you how to control your kids? That s why I think parents should
decide whether or not there kids should have curfews. Teens should have curfew of at least 11:00
because when they stay out to late they tend to do wrong things most of the time. Just like in the
article The trouble With Youth Curfews stated first there were incidences of shop lifting then on July
29 youths got violent in central city beating and hospitalizing 59 people. Also teens should be at home
worrying about school and there future and not on the streets getting into trouble or doing drugs. Also

The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music Essay
The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music
I believe that it would be difficult for someone to make the argument that Negro spirituals have not
been influential in the field of music, much less the realm of gospel music today. However, church
members often do not make the time to reflect on the heritage of a hymn or song to realize the
meaning that the particular piece has carried with it through the decades, even centuries. With this in
mind, I am going to look at the history of the Negro spiritual and then at specific hymns in the 1991
Baptist Hymnal, published by Convention Press, to see just what impact the Negro spiritual has had
on today s church music. I believe that we will find that these songs have had a ... Show more content

At first, however, slaves were not using their music to glorify the God worshipped by their masters.
Obviously, they had brought their religion with them, one considered pagan and inappropriate by
Christians in the American colonies. Christian missionaries were very disapproving regarding the
religious practices of the slaves, and they began to verbalize their disapproval and work to convert the
new African slaves. Seventeenth century author Morgan Godwin describes their religious practices
thus: . . . nothing is more barbarous, and contrary to Christianity, than their . . . Idolatrous Dances, and
Revels; in which they usually spend the Sunday . . . And here, that I may not be thought too rashly to
impute Idolatry to their Dances, my Conjecture is raised upon this ground . . . for that they use their
Dances as a means to procure Rain: Some of them having been known to beg this Liberty upon the
Week Days, in order thereunto (qtd. in Maultsby 3). Apparently, slave owners did not immediately set
out to influence the religious practices of their slaves; however, it would not be long before the
masters began to insist that their slaves practice their religion, Christianity.
I have found very little regarding the reception of the Africans to Christianity; nevertheless, they were
converted, and their music changed to

Underestimated Due With An Inadequate Surveillance System
underestimated due to an inadequate surveillance system. Though this was partially a result of basic
failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely reporting and a lack of laboratory
confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a lack of economic interest. In the 1990s, increases in
tourism (driven by cruise ship lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and preventing outbreaks,
which could be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise, although Ebola
hemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s, only recently has
the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks, 2014). A lack of mobility

As a result of this, American economic stimulation in the Caribbean demanded surveillance increases;

2. A case study outline for salmonellosis involves the identification of the source and the surveillance
of the disease. Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study) to determine
risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent
the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper
farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has its origins in the
jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all contacts must be identified.
Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A case control study would be the
practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount
of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with salmonellosis
require adequate fluids to heal and little else. A salmonellosis outbreak would have a case study
outline very similar to that of a norovirus outbreak. One major difference is person to person

Literary Devices In Middlemarch
In Middlemarch, George Eliot utilizes several literary devices to portray her two characters and their
complex relationship that reveals their marriage is dominated by the husband who objectifies his wife
into silence. Throughout the passage, Eliot makes it clear that Rosamond and Tertius Lydgate are in an
uneven relationship, considering Tertius refuses to listen to his wife who seems to only have his best
interest at heart, yet still, he continues to yell at her for thinking she knows what is best for him. With
the help of details, Tertius s critical tone, and imagery, Eliot is able to showcase how complex their
relationship is when it comes to Rosamond giving her opinions and ideas, just to be casted to the side.
In several parts of the passage, Eliot hints that Rosamond loves her husband, however, is constantly
disciplined by Tertius when she speaks up on his actions. With her selection of details, it exemplifies
the complexities of the couple s marriage and how as a newlywed, their life together is only just
beginning, yet already, Rosamond is getting cold feet. This is asserted when it states, the thought in
her mind was that if she had known how Lydgate would behave, she would never have married him
(77 79). Eliot explains how Rosamond is doubting Tertius s love for her, considering the fact he is
always making her feel inferior to him. Certain details such as Rosamond being sensitive and a young
creature who had known nothing but indulgence and whose

My Strengths And Challenges In My Life
Every individual will at some point in their life face obstacles that can hinder their growth; however, it
is up to each individual to decide whether these obstacles will stop them entirely or carve them into a
stronger, more perseverant being. I have faced various obstacles in my life, but I believe that my
obstacles specifically those related to my shoulder health have developed me into the resilient man I
am today. To explain, three days into my freshman year, I tore my labrum in my right shoulder at
football practice. Although I had surgery to repair it, I knew my chances of being a three sport athlete
were diminished. I was forced to stop playing football and wrestling, but I was lucky enough to be
cleared to play baseball. High school baseball was my dream ever since I was a child, so I knew what
it meant to the younger kids in my community. Now, it was my time to show them who I was, and I
refused to let that be taken from me. For this reason, I began devoting much of my time to baseball.
My first season went well, but my team did not do as well, so I couldn t wait for summer baseball.
Unfortunately, while playing in the summer, I began to feel intense shoulder pain. Initially, I tried to
hide my pain because I was scared that baseball would be taken from me. Eventually, though, I couldn
t hide my pain and I dislocated my left shoulder several times in a single game. I faced a similar
obstacle a year prior, and I decided once again to have surgery to repair my

Growing in Poverty
Poverty is currently not a hot topic in the current world of politics. Every candidate wants to tackle the
upper or the middle class and often forget about those living in poverty. Poverty can affect anyone and
effect everyone in our society. One may wonder what poverty is and why poverty is a big issue or does
it have a large impact on our societies. Webster s dictionary defines poverty as the state of one who
lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. In a world that is full of
the latest and the most advanced possessions and technologies to enhanced our way of life, it seems
that there is a remedy for almost anything that you can imagine. However, when it comes to someone
living in poverty, the access to these things and the necessities of life are not readily available. When
one does not have the necessities to live in a socially acceptable environment it causes lack in the
areas of childhood development and education, nutrition and health, and economic development.
Families that live in poverty don t have access to the education for a various reasons. Although
transportation is provided by schools, parents lack the ability to provide resources for the child to
attend school, such as, food, clean clothes and school supplies. Education is very important in
childhood development. In a recent article, Edward Kennedy states, Young children

The Main Goal Of Geographical Routing
The main goal of geographical routing is to use location information to define an efficient route search
toward the destination. Geographical routing is very fitting to sensor networks, where data aggregation
technique is used to minimize the number of transmissions send to the base station by eliminating
redundancy among data packets from different sources. The need for data aggregation is to minimize
energy consumption changes the computation and communications model in sensor networks from a
traditional address paradigm to a data centric paradigm, where the content of the data is more
significant than the identity of the sensor node that gathers the data. In data paradigm, an application
may send a query to enquire about a phenomenon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Geographical routing approaches does not require saving the state at the routers to keep track of the
current state of the topology. It needs only the propagation of single hop topology information. The
nature of geographical routing eliminates the need for keeping internal data structures such as routing
tables. Thus, the overhead is reduced substantially, just like that improving its scalability in large
networks.
The routing strategies of geographical routing is to use the location information to form a more
effective routing strategy that does not need flooding request data packets throughout a network. This
achieved by sending a data packet to nodes located in a designated forwarding region. This is also
known as geocasting, where only nodes lie within the designated forwarding region are authorized to
transmit the data packet ref. This region can be statically defined by the source node, or formed
dynamically by intermediate sensor nodes to reject nodes that may cause a detour when transmitting
the data packet.
A second strategy used in geographical routing, known as position based routing. A sensor node only
needs to know the location information of its direct neighbor s ref. A greedy forwarding approach is
used where each sensor node forwards a data packet to the neighboring node that is closest to the
destination node. The

The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And...
The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its underlying
concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the strategies available to
lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are perceived seriousness,
perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In addition to that, more constructs
are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor, cues to action and self efficacy. Each
of these constructs in combination or individually, could be used to determine health behavior. The
HBM also provides guidelines for the program development allowing planners to address reasons for
non compliance with recommended health action. The health belief model is a process used to
promote healthy behavior among individuals who may be at risk of developing adverse health
outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions of severity and susceptibility of developing a
disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a
role as well as cues to action such as media, and close friends. In order to determine that taking action
will be meaningful, the benefits to change must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior
(Green Murphy, 2014).

extremely significant in relation to treating patients with all sorts of medical diseases who necessitate

This being said, it neglected to show the reality that one hospital may use a protocol indicating nurses

its existing operations and is expected to generate cash in excess of the amount required to maintain
the business. Likely impact of proposed changes to prospective reimbursement One of the significant
impacts of proposed changes to prospective reimbursement is that hospitals will be paid based on
expected fixed rates rather than actually incurred costs. Hospitals will no longer be paid using cost
plus basis (costs plus a certain percentage of profits based on costs). As a result of fixed rate payments
to hospitals, there will be more incentive for hospitals to reduce costs and improve efficiency in order
to maximise profits. The prospective reimbursement program will also result in hospitals not being
able to recoup full amount of allowable interest expense. Instead, they can only recoup the interest tax
shield portion of the interest expense. Investors

Analysis Of The Poem Swells
In the first stanza of the poem, Swells, Ammons makes a connection between swell and memories.
Swell is the vehicle and is use as a way to describe the substance of a particular memory. Memory
plays a role as the tenor. The speaker believes there is a correlation in terms of the size of the Swell in
the ocean with the importance or impact of the memory; as the swell increase in size, so will the
memory significance. The stanza then goes on to create an image for readers with the words,
Information of actions summarized (surface peaks and dribbles. One possible reason the lines are
written in this way is because the words create an imagery of contours and functions of a human brain.
Certain sections the human brain can retain information and condense data into its most useful
aspects.
In stanza two, ambiguity is more prevalent. Although there are some elements of abstruse, Ammons
uses specific words in repetition to create a degree of complexity for the poem. Ammons uses words
such as summary , deeper , longer , and length to convey the point. I question why Ammons used
these words, in particular, summary and deeper because the overall second stanza conveys a message
of an idea or item of great importance. Summary and deeper contradicts that message because both
words contrast each other. Summary generally means a short version on main points of an idea or
event while deeper is a term people use to compare two objects or items. Although Ammons does not

American elections have always been supported by private money. These funds have come from the
American people, special interest groups, and business. The funding amounts that the last two can

both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest Hemingway s Old Man

The Cause Of Genetic Information Being Transferred By A...
Humans have been involved with genetics even before the idea of genetics existed. In the 1800s, a
monk by the name of Mendel used selection in plants and crossed them to study how traits are passed
down from parents to filial generations. Ever since then, genetics have grown over time and it has lead
to much curiosity among scientists, which have then conducted their experiments to overcome their
curiosity. That has lead to many innovations and new findings.
In the early 1920s, Fredrick Griffith conducted an experiment that proposed that bacteria are the cause
of genetic information being transferred by a process called transformation. His further researches
conducted lead him to the finding that DNA was the genetic material that passed information (Klug et
al., 2012). Avery, Mccarty and Macleod using Griffith s findings confirmed that DNA was the material
that was passed down from parents to offspring s in the form of genes. Genes are composed of alleles
that pass down traits from generation to generation.
Once alleles are inherited in a population, traits are expressed. Thus this leads to the idea of population
genetics, which is very crucial to understanding genetics. Population genetics studies the frequency of
alleles that change within a population, which influences evolution. Mathematic principles are used to
population geneticists, which predict any trends that may occur in a given population. The hardy
Weinberg principle is one of these principles.

Physics of Angular Momentum Project
Angular Momentum: The Physics of Spinning
Although many know the physics of spinning , not many people are aware of how angular momentum
explains the physics of rotation. Now it is true that all objects have a momentum, a product of mass
and velocity. But similarly, the inertia of rotating objects is called angular momentum. When a
direction is given to a rotational speed, we call this rotational velocity, and its vector is rotational
speed. Therefore, angular momentum is the product of rotational inertia and rotational velocity, or
L=Iw. This equation can be used in physics to find the angular momentum of an extended object, with
the I being the inertia (kg x m2) the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this would be a man with his arms extended, holding weights. If his arms are extended
with weights on the end, his overall rotational inertia is relatively large and as he turns, his angular
momentum is the product of his rotational inertia and rotational velocity. If he pulls the weights in, his
rotational inertia is decreased, but his rotational speed increases. This concedes the idea of the law,
that the smaller one part is, the larger the other part must be. There are examples in sports too, like
cheerleading. When a flyer in cheerleading is thrown and is going into her rotation, she isn t at her
fastest motion yet, but her ability to resist a change in motion is quite high. This ability to resist a
change in motion is her inertia, which in our case, is mass multiplied by radius squared. So while she
has arms and legs extended before she fully rotates, she has less speed, but a longer radius that allows
her inertia to remain larger. When she is fully into the rotation with legs and arms fully tucked in, she
has a smaller radius, but because of the conservation of momentum, this loss of inertia must be made
up in speed. So while the flyer is doing the hardest part of her trick, the real rotation, her body is
moving the fastest so that her lack of inertia can not affect the success of her move.
Now my final example is the figure skater, how do we explain mathematically why when her arms are
extended she goes slower and when her arms are pulled in she

The Bloody Chamber
As a feminist, it is almost to be expected that many of Angela Carter s happy ever after endings will
strike the reader with a bold feminist message. However, in The Bloody Chamber, this is not
necessarily the case. Although there are several feminist messages in the stories resolutions, these
messages are not always presented in the way one would expect, and not every female protagonist is
presented as a feminist character. By taking the roles of typically Gothic women and toying with the
presentation of female characters, many of Carter s feminist messages are not as one would expect.
The eponymous story The Bloody Chamber ends with a sense of resolution, love and happiness. The
antagonist of the story is no more, and the narrator is able to live a happy and fulfilling life with Jean
Yves. Whether the ending is truly feminist, however, is open to discussion. In one respect, the actual
resolution to the story is all down to the narrator s mother, who is presented at the story s climax as an
incredibly powerful female figure. Carter uses masculine and bestial imagery to describe the mother,
in a way that is not dissimilar to earlier imagery to describe the Marquis. The narrator refers to her
mother s hair as her white mane ; just as earlier she had referenced the Marquis s dark mane . The
juxtaposition between light and dark here is a typical example of Gothic extremes; while the Marquis
seems to represent darkness the supernatural and evil the mother is

Success of Southwest Airlines
SUCCESS SOUTHWEST AIRLINES
So, to start with, the company was founded in 16th of March, 1967 Dallas by Herb Kelleher and
Rollin King. It has a subsidiary company which is AirTran Airways. Southwest Airlines flies to 72
destinations in the United States. Key people of the company are Herb Kelleher (Co founder), Rollin
King (Co founder) and Gary C. Kelly (President, CEO Chairman). And total assets in 2010 were more
than 15 billion dollars.
In simple words, more than 44 years ago, Rollin King and Herb Kelleher got together and decided to
start a different kind of airline. They began with one simple notion: If you get your passengers to their
destinations when they want to get there, on time, at the lowest possible fares, and make darn ... Show

Then your customers will come back, and your shareholders will like that, so it s really a unity.
A Relatively Happy Workforce
Network carriers have railed for decades about the power of their employee unions. But guess who s
the most unionized carrier in the nation? Southwest, of course. The airline says that 87 percent of its
employees belong to a union. Southwest has never had a strike, and now that the network carriers have
whacked away at salaries and benefits, Southwest staffers are generally the highest paid in the
industry.
Strong Management
Kelleher s bonhomie masked the discipline that Southwest has had throughout its history. The airline
has always avoided fads and eschewed anything that increased costs or complicated the basic travel
proposition. Management ranks are lean, but well compensated and, most importantly, productive.
The Golden Rule . Treat others as you would like to be treated!
This rule simply shows how the company is working. And in my opinion it is one of the most
important reasons, why the company is so successful.
Now I d like to show a video in which you will see steward giving safety information in a little bit
different way. http://youtu.be/pvdCFYLf_JI I think this video illustrated for you this company s
attitude.
To sum up I d like to mention most important facts about the company:

Shades Of Symbols In The Great Gatsby
The 1920s was a pivotal part of American history. This decade was the decade between the world wars
and is often referred to by many as the Roaring Twenties as it was a time for great celebration and
advancement as modern mass production and consumption was introduced and many Americans
began to increase their material wealth. While this decade brought on the lux and lavish of life, it also
brought with it many different types of people as well as objects. While reading The Great Gatsby, a
novel by F.Scott Fitzgerald, these objects are referred to as symbols and in reading the novel, are able
to provide many shades of meaning to the reader depending on how the reader views and interprets the
symbols. The ash heaps and valley of ashes, the billboard sign of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg, and the green
dock light are some of the many symbols in the novel that can provide different shades of meaning to
the reader through the course of the novel.
Throughout the novel, the ash heaps and valley of ashes are one of the most referenced symbols found
within the Great Gatsby. These symbols in turn are also able to provide different shades of meaning to
the reader depending on how the reader interprets the ash heaps and valley of ashes. One shade of
meaning that can be offered to the readers is that the ash heaps represent success of the factories
during the time of the 1920s. During this period of time, modern mass production as well as
consumption began to grow as economic prosperity

Nonrational Decision Making
In this case, there was absolutely the nonrational model of decision making being displayed. The
nonrational model of decision making displayed in this case caused major damage to our planet s
ocean life and killed workers that were on the oil rig. Nonrational decision making tries to explain
how decisions are made (Kreitner Kinicki). In this case, the two companies, BP and Transocean Ltd
made a nonrational decision by allowing the oil rig to continue to operate knowing that there was a
problem with it. Their decision making was bounded rationally which means the decision makers
wanted to make the decision is a rational way but were restricted by constraints (de Farias Godoi,
2009). In this case, the top two workers for each company inquired a personal issue ... Show more

Knowing that there was an issue, these top employees decided to decline the issue and move on with
operations. The proper solutions were not created to stop this disaster before it began to happen. They
did not optimize at all during their decision making which caused lives to be lost and our ocean to be
covered in oil killing many marine and land animals. Also, the top employees displayed to the world
the true meaning of the garbage can model which is broken down into four streams of events.
In conclusion, these two companies did not complete the steps to making a rational decision which led
to a disaster. This disaster was all over the news and cost both companies millions of dollars in clean
up and a new oil rig. As managers, it is important for us to ensure that we make a rational decision so
we can obtain a positive outcome. In this case, there was no positive outcome because there were
careless leadership mistakes and irrational decision making. The workers on the rig did not help the
situation either by pumping sea water to clear out

The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections

The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections
Studies have continued to prove hand hygiene to be the most effective technique for eliminating
nosocomial infections. Treatment facilities are experiencing multidrug resistant organisms at an all
time high due to a lack of proper infection prevention protocol. Nosocomial infections are the most
common complication that can arise during a hospital stay (Insert citation). A majority of developing
countries are facing multidrug resistant organisms caused by the lack of infection prevention protocol
and a large amount of pressure to provide health care in poor living and treatment conditions. Over use
of antibiotic treatment is part of the reason large numbers of multidrug resistant organisms are
appearing in the healthcare environment. Implementing more stringent infection prevention protocol,
assessing health care facilities use of proper infection control, and critically analyzing use of
antibiotics will aid in elimination of nosocomial infections and decrease the average hospital stay.
According to the evidence based clinical practice guidelines on the guidline.gov website, there are
three standard principles of hand hygiene. The first is using a hand washing technique with
decontamination agents, such as soaps or

Self-Destruction In Hamlet
Hamlet, a tragic hero with a feigned madness seeking revenge for his deceased father, kills everyone
in his path and finally succeeded in taking vengeance for the murder of his father by killing the
murderer, Claudius for good. Hamlet s consistent desire to seek revenge for his father s murderer, led
him to foreseeable yet tragic downfall. In Hamlet, Shakespeare utilizes the acts of revenge throughout
the play to show self destruction and confliction in through characters such as Hamlet.
The theme of revenge causing self destruction is established in act two of the book by Hamlet himself.
Hamlet proclaims: O, vengeance! Why, what an ass am I! This is most brave, That I, the son of a dear
father murder d, Prompted to my revenge by heaven and hell, Must, like a whore, unpack my heart
with words, And fall a cursing, like a very drab, A stallion! Fie upon t! foh! (2.2.581 587). ... Show

Whether tis nobler in the mind to the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a

conflicted on whether or not to kill himself . He uses the word noble which means his decision is
strictly based off of what is the more morale option (which seems to be another common theme in
Hamlet). In Hamlet s self conflicting soliloquy he is also facing self destruction because his constant

he withholds from not taking revenge on Claudius yet. He starts to question if it is just better to kill

My Life With My Parents
In my culture, the son is supposed to take care of my parents. However, even after 17 years, my oldest
brother Bee is still working at a low wage job, my second oldest brother Davis has moved to
Wisconsin 16 years ago and hasn t returned, and my third younger brother Doua is living in Minnesota
and is a member of a gang. My older brother Bee lives with my parents and has no motivation to
pursue for a better life for him or for my parents. He works part time and has no social interaction. He
plays computer games and drink beers daily. My younger brother joined a gang, doing drugs and was
getting involved in criminal activities in middle school. He left home when he was 12 years old. My
parents would also emphasize the importance of school and getting a bachelor degree. My parents
have no education, do not speak English and had little work experience. Their hopes are that their
children would go to school and get an education. They want their children to be the best they could,
so they eventually would fit into the American culture. They were afraid that if their children didn t
obtain a bachelor degree, then we would end up in the same socio economic like them. My family
value of education and earning a degree from a University inspire me to continue my education. My
hardworking parents have been working in the fields since 1985. They would tell me about their
disappointment of dropping out of adult school and becoming farmers. My parents earn their small
income from

  • 3. My Personal History With Communication Technology As I look back at my personal history with communication technology I remember using many forms of social media to communicate with my friends and family. Back in the day when I was in junior high I remember using MySpace, Skype, and phone calls. Today on the other hand I mainly use Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. There are many reasons why I use these sites but I use some sites more frequently than others it just depends on the person I want to communicate with. My social media usage varies on the purpose I want to use it for or with whom I want to communicate with. The reason I used MySpace in the past was to be cool like the rest of my friends that were using it during that time. Before I had my own cell phone I was able to have my own MySpace account. The reason I would use MySpace is because everyone at school would use it, so I wanted to fit in with the rest of my friends. I used MySpace to talk friends that had added me or friends of friends that I knew about but had never met in person. I would use it to communicate with them rather than calling them on the phone. MySpace was the site where I could portray myself in any way I wanted. I had the choice of what pictures people could see of me, which music I liked, and other personal things that I could choose to display. MySpace was a way for me to have some kind of social interactions with people I did not necessarily know, love, or have an attraction to. MySpace was just a way to keep myself connected with society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Characteristics Of Myself Normality is a paved road. It s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it. Van Gogh Multiple characteristics of myself that have throughout my life have shaped me into the person that I am today. One of them is my intelligence which, while not on some ridiculously high level, is something that I have grown to value as I considered myself a person of great perception, being a young man who appreciates logic and mathematical thinking, possesses a desire to look for the hidden truth behind webs of contradictions/inconsistencies, love analyzing details and piecing together information, as well as using creativity to solve problems and puzzles. Another trait of mine that is the main focus of this essay is none other my eccentricity, which may be correlated to my intelligence. I m what some have labeled me as a weirdo , which I ve learned has both positive and negative connotations, and usually the negative connotation applied to me. I m an introverted and quiet person who, although doesn t mind socializing a bit from time to time with people that I m comfortable with, prefers to be by himself and do his own thing. When I am interacting with others, which is not a usual thing, I come off as awkward and uncomfortable. Even by my loneself I m still perform eccentric habits and quirky movements. Always bottling up my complex emotions and deep thoughts, I ve faced hardships in expressing them to others in a way that can being understood. The only situation where I feel like I can truly express myself to others is through texting, in other words not face to face (I m a textrovert). In addition, I m what I considered myself as a nefelibata, a term most people don t know the meaning of: a cloud walker or one who lives in the cloud of their own imagination or dreams. My mind spend most of its time wandering around in the land of . not abiding by the precepts of society. In fact, regardless of how I depict myself to others, anyone who observe my actions can see the truth as plain as day; I m nothing more than an unconventional, unorthodox person. Of course, not everyone would like an outlandish person such as myself, and soon did I also dislike a part of myself. The notion that I was something bizarre and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Television vs. Reality It is 8:30 Monday night and the whole family is in the living room watching the Fox network s primetime hit Ally McBeal . Suddenly, just after the program resumes after a painstakingly long commercial break, you see a man and a woman lying in bed talking to each other after having a night of hot, passionate sex. You look down and see your ten year old son or daughter lying on the floor just staring at the TV, taking it all in. You begin channel surfing, and end up on channel 3, CBS. There is a brand new sitcom being aired called Some of My Best Friends . Then he asked his roommate to break up with the woman for him, since he had to leave. In reality, most people like to believe that sex is a sign of love and, although there are also many exceptions to this rule, many still try and live by it. Today there are also many fears about AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases being spread. The characters on Friends seem to be completely immune and ignorant of sexually transmitted diseases while having sex with many different partners. Finally, another aspect that is falsely portrayed in this show is homosexuality. It seems that almost everywhere the main characters go there are homosexuals that are either hanging around the main characters or are attracted to them. In reality, the homosexual population only makes up around 10 12% of the U.S. population, so it would be unlikely that the main characters would run into that many homosexuals in the small areas where they live. The next show that I have researched is the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond . Even though this show falls into the same category as Friends , the shows are very different. One difference is that the main character in Everybody Loves Raymond is married. On Friends , all of the main characters are single, and they have sexual relations more frequently. Everybody Loves Raymond does not present as much sex as most sitcoms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the boyish nature of my personality, I wanted to go outside and play games, not sit inside and read quietly. Then, while I was playing soccer during recess at school, I dove for the ball and heard a cracking sound. I had broken my arm. Immediately, my parents were summoned to school and I went to the hospital to get a cast. Devastation struck me as the doctor proclaimed that I was not going to play sports until the cast came off. During the first few days wearing the cast, I tended to sit around and wallow in self pity. Then, I realized that, if I was not allowed to enjoy myself, I might as well do something productive. So, I picked up the book nearest me, which happened to be Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I was dreading the hours of boredom I was about to face. However, as I began to read, I realized that reading was more enjoyable than simply running around. When I read, I was transformed into a new character every time. The Cerebellum Research Paper The Cerebellum The little brain, or cerebellum, in many ways resembles a smaller version of the cerebral cortex (e.g., it contains two distinct hemispheres) and is located just behind and underneath it. The cerebellum works as an integrator, allowing us to control and process our perceptions and motor movements. Many neural pathways link the cerebellum with both the cerebral cortex and the spinal cord. The cerebellum smoothly integrates these pathways, receiving feedback about body s position and using this information to direct our movement. Because the cerebellum modifies motor movement rather than producing it, damage to the cerebellum causes movement related difficulties rather than paralysis. These difficulties tend to be most obvious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Given that rights and freedoms have been protected in Charters in most countries for decades, if not centuries, it is safe to say that we take these rights for granted. We have grown in a society that always respects one s rights and freedoms, that we believe that it is the norm, rather than appreciating that it is something that a privileged society has. I, too have taken these rights for granted, however, by learning about the limited rights and freedoms offered in a sovereign country, North Korea, I have learned to appreciate these rights. Through watching the documentaries, I had learned that rights and freedoms in our Charter that we see as fundamental are not present in various countries such as North Korea. Given this, I have come to realize how lucky I am to have these rights that are protected by a Charter and begun to appreciate having these rights. Citizens can protect their Charter rights by learning specifically what rights and freedoms are protected in order to present to other their constitutional rights should they try to violate them. • 15. Reasons Of The European Expansion In The 15th Century The European Expansion was motivated purely by the religious rivalries among the European powers. European nations in the 15th century began exploring new lands with three motives: religion, wealth, and glory. It was made possible by advances in naval fleet building and navigation, first pioneered by the Portuguese. Europeans began to be involved in extensive exploration, coming in contact with Africa, Americas and their prime target Asia. The main targets of the pioneering Portugese and Spanish was to find and alternate trade route for the Indies trade and also promote Christianity to the new lands. As the century unfolded, the search for newer territories to colonize and shortern routes to the exotic land of spices and silk became the initial driving force for the intensive early exploration by the Europeans . Religious motives of the Old Land of Europe s exploration can be traced back to the days of the Crusades down to the 11th and 15th century, where the European Christians tried to invade and claim the city of Jerusalem from its Muslim control. The struggle between the Islamic rule and the European Christians planted the ideology of Reconquista in the latter s religion. It influenced the Christian religion with an air of religious intolerance. With the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, European Catholic s interests in colonizing newer lands and declare global dominance earned a new momentum. • 19. The Importance Of Organ Donation Over the past several years, the argument of whether or not compensating donors is ethical and financially benefitting for everyone has been heavily debated. The interest for life saving organ donation has such little supply that the doctors of waiting patients are so desperate that they believe compensation is their only option. Enhanced survival rates combined with unfaltering development of signs for transplantation make the organ deficiency progressively severe; waiting times are now deplorably long. In order to cut the waiting period, compensating donors will promote more individuals to become donors. Although there are many people who disagree with the idea to compensate donors, people who donate their kidneys should be compensated because more individuals will be drawn to donate their kidneys in return for monetary value. Additionally, donors should be compensated because they are giving an organ from their body part away. Individuals and their families pay for dialysis each year hoping they will be chosen to receive the next available organ they have been longing for. These individuals often do not think about how they could be paying a donor for a much lower price instead of dialysis which does not guarantee the organ you desire. In a way, he negatively scrutinizes the public education for overlooking the intellect of those who aren t skilled academically. One thing that I believe is very fundamental is that he says, They would be more prone to take on intellectual identities if we encouraged them to do so at first on subjects that interest them rather than ones that interest us. • 25. The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music Essay The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music I believe that it would be difficult for someone to make the argument that Negro spirituals have not been influential in the field of music, much less the realm of gospel music today. However, church members often do not make the time to reflect on the heritage of a hymn or song to realize the meaning that the particular piece has carried with it through the decades, even centuries. With this in mind, I am going to look at the history of the Negro spiritual and then at specific hymns in the 1991 Baptist Hymnal, published by Convention Press, to see just what impact the Negro spiritual has had on today s church music. I believe that we will find that these songs have had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously, they had brought their religion with them, one considered pagan and inappropriate by Christians in the American colonies. Christian missionaries were very disapproving regarding the religious practices of the slaves, and they began to verbalize their disapproval and work to convert the new African slaves. Seventeenth century author Morgan Godwin describes their religious practices thus: . . . nothing is more barbarous, and contrary to Christianity, than their . . . Idolatrous Dances, and Revels; in which they usually spend the Sunday . . . And here, that I may not be thought too rashly to impute Idolatry to their Dances, my Conjecture is raised upon this ground . . . for that they use their Dances as a means to procure Rain: Some of them having been known to beg this Liberty upon the Week Days, in order thereunto (qtd. in Maultsby 3). Apparently, slave owners did not immediately set out to influence the religious practices of their slaves; however, it would not be long before the masters began to insist that their slaves practice their religion, Christianity. Though this was partially a result of basic failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely reporting and a lack of laboratory confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a lack of economic interest. In the 1990s, increases in tourism (driven by cruise ship lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and preventing outbreaks, which could be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise, although Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s, only recently has the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks, 2014). Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study) to determine risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has its origins in the jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all contacts must be identified. Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A case control study would be the practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with salmonellosis require adequate fluids to heal and little else. Literary Devices In Middlemarch In Middlemarch, George Eliot utilizes several literary devices to portray her two characters and their complex relationship that reveals their marriage is dominated by the husband who objectifies his wife into silence. Throughout the passage, Eliot makes it clear that Rosamond and Tertius Lydgate are in an uneven relationship, considering Tertius refuses to listen to his wife who seems to only have his best interest at heart, yet still, he continues to yell at her for thinking she knows what is best for him. With the help of details, Tertius s critical tone, and imagery, Eliot is able to showcase how complex their relationship is when it comes to Rosamond giving her opinions and ideas, just to be casted to the side. In several parts of the passage, Eliot hints that Rosamond loves her husband, however, is constantly disciplined by Tertius when she speaks up on his actions. With her selection of details, it exemplifies the complexities of the couple s marriage and how as a newlywed, their life together is only just beginning, yet already, Rosamond is getting cold feet. This is asserted when it states, the thought in her mind was that if she had known how Lydgate would behave, she would never have married him (77 79). Geographical routing is very fitting to sensor networks, where data aggregation technique is used to minimize the number of transmissions send to the base station by eliminating redundancy among data packets from different sources. The need for data aggregation is to minimize energy consumption changes the computation and communications model in sensor networks from a traditional address paradigm to a data centric paradigm, where the content of the data is more significant than the identity of the sensor node that gathers the data. In data paradigm, an application may send a query to enquire about a phenomenon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geographical routing approaches does not require saving the state at the routers to keep track of the current state of the topology. It needs only the propagation of single hop topology information. The nature of geographical routing eliminates the need for keeping internal data structures such as routing tables. Thus, the overhead is reduced substantially, just like that improving its scalability in large networks. The routing strategies of geographical routing is to use the location information to form a more effective routing strategy that does not need flooding request data packets throughout a network. This achieved by sending a data packet to nodes located in a designated forwarding region. This is also known as geocasting, where only nodes lie within the designated forwarding region are authorized to transmit the data packet ref. This region can be statically defined by the source node, or formed dynamically by intermediate sensor nodes to reject nodes that may cause a detour when transmitting the data packet. A second strategy used in geographical routing, known as position based routing. A sensor node only needs to know the location information of its direct neighbor s ref. A greedy forwarding approach is used where each sensor node forwards a data packet to the neighboring node that is closest to the destination node. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And... The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In addition to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor, cues to action and self efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be used to determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program development allowing planners to address reasons for non compliance with recommended health action. The health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals who may be at risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions of severity and susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media, and close friends. In order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior (Green Murphy, 2014). In the 1800s, a monk by the name of Mendel used selection in plants and crossed them to study how traits are passed down from parents to filial generations. Ever since then, genetics have grown over time and it has lead to much curiosity among scientists, which have then conducted their experiments to overcome their curiosity. That has lead to many innovations and new findings. In the early 1920s, Fredrick Griffith conducted an experiment that proposed that bacteria are the cause of genetic information being transferred by a process called transformation. His further researches conducted lead him to the finding that DNA was the genetic material that passed information (Klug et al., 2012). Avery, Mccarty and Macleod using Griffith s findings confirmed that DNA was the material that was passed down from parents to offspring s in the form of genes. Genes are composed of alleles that pass down traits from generation to generation. Once alleles are inherited in a population, traits are expressed. Thus this leads to the idea of population genetics, which is very crucial to understanding genetics. Population genetics studies the frequency of alleles that change within a population, which influences evolution. Physics Of Angular Momentum Project Kathleen Murphy 6/16/17 Walker Physics of Angular Momentum Project Angular Momentum: The Physics of Spinning Although many know the physics of spinning , not many people are aware of how angular momentum explains the physics of rotation. Now it is true that all objects have a momentum, a product of mass and velocity. But similarly, the inertia of rotating objects is called angular momentum. When a direction is given to a rotational speed, we call this rotational velocity, and its vector is rotational speed. Therefore, angular momentum is the product of rotational inertia and rotational velocity, or L=Iw. This equation can be used in physics to find the angular momentum of an extended object, with the I being the inertia (kg x m2) the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this would be a man with his arms extended, holding weights. If his arms are extended with weights on the end, his overall rotational inertia is relatively large and as he turns, his angular momentum is the product of his rotational inertia and rotational velocity. If he pulls the weights in, his rotational inertia is decreased, but his rotational speed increases. This concedes the idea of the law, that the smaller one part is, the larger the other part must be. There are examples in sports too, like cheerleading. When a flyer in cheerleading is thrown and is going into her rotation, she isn t at her fastest motion yet, but her ability to resist a change in motion is quite high. This ability to resist a change in motion is her inertia, which in our case, is mass multiplied by radius squared. So while she has arms and legs extended before she fully rotates, she has less speed, but a longer radius that allows her inertia to remain larger. When she is fully into the rotation with legs and arms fully tucked in, she has a smaller radius, but because of the conservation of momentum, this loss of inertia must be made up in speed. So while the flyer is doing the hardest part of her trick, the real rotation, her body is moving the fastest so that her lack of inertia can not affect the success of her move. Now my final example is the figure skater, how do we explain mathematically why when her arms are extended she goes slower and when her arms are pulled in she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Bloody Chamber As a feminist, it is almost to be expected that many of Angela Carter s happy ever after endings will strike the reader with a bold feminist message. However, in The Bloody Chamber, this is not necessarily the case. Although there are several feminist messages in the stories resolutions, these messages are not always presented in the way one would expect, and not every female protagonist is presented as a feminist character. By taking the roles of typically Gothic women and toying with the presentation of female characters, many of Carter s feminist messages are not as one would expect. The eponymous story The Bloody Chamber ends with a sense of resolution, love and happiness. The antagonist of the story is no more, and the narrator is able to live a happy and fulfilling life with Jean Yves. Whether the ending is truly feminist, however, is open to discussion. In one respect, the actual resolution to the story is all down to the narrator s mother, who is presented at the story s climax as an incredibly powerful female figure. Carter uses masculine and bestial imagery to describe the mother, in a way that is not dissimilar to earlier imagery to describe the Marquis. The narrator refers to her mother s hair as her white mane ; just as earlier she had referenced the Marquis s dark mane . The juxtaposition between light and dark here is a typical example of Gothic extremes; while the Marquis seems to represent darkness the supernatural and evil the mother is ... Southwest has never had a strike, and now that the network carriers have whacked away at salaries and benefits, Southwest staffers are generally the highest paid in the industry. The nonrational model of decision making displayed in this case caused major damage to our planet s ocean life and killed workers that were on the oil rig. Nonrational decision making tries to explain how decisions are made (Kreitner Kinicki). Jones School of Nursing at Platt College The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections Studies have continued to prove hand hygiene to be the most effective technique for eliminating nosocomial infections. Treatment facilities are experiencing multidrug resistant organisms at an all time high due to a lack of proper infection prevention protocol. Nosocomial infections are the most common complication that can arise during a hospital stay (Insert citation). A majority of developing countries are facing multidrug resistant organisms caused by the lack of infection prevention protocol and a large amount of pressure to provide health care in poor living and treatment conditions. Over use of antibiotic treatment is part of the reason large numbers of multidrug resistant organisms are appearing in the healthcare environment. Implementing more stringent infection prevention protocol, assessing health care facilities use of proper infection control, and critically analyzing use of antibiotics will aid in elimination of nosocomial infections and decrease the average hospital stay. According to the evidence based clinical practice guidelines on the guidline.gov website, there are three standard principles of hand hygiene. The first is using a hand washing technique with decontamination agents, such as soaps or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, even after 17 years, my oldest brother Bee is still working at a low wage job, my second oldest brother Davis has moved to Wisconsin 16 years ago and hasn t returned, and my third younger brother Doua is living in Minnesota and is a member of a gang. My older brother Bee lives with my parents and has no motivation to pursue for a better life for him or for my parents. He works part time and has no social interaction. He plays computer games and drink beers daily. My younger brother joined a gang, doing drugs and was getting involved in criminal activities in middle school. He left home when he was 12 years old. My parents would also emphasize the importance of school and getting a bachelor degree. My parents have no education, do not speak English and had little work experience. Their hopes are that their children would go to school and get an education. They want their children to be the best they could, so they eventually would fit into the American culture. They were afraid that if their children didn t obtain a bachelor degree, then we would end up in the same socio economic like them.
