Ernest Hemingway s The Lost Generation
Ernest Hemingway was a famous modernist writer during the 20th century. Hemingway was
part of what was known as The Lost Generation this name arose post World War 1. The modernist
movement was a drastic change in numerous things such as art and literature. Ernest contributed
much to this movement with his literary works. World War 1 played a major role in not only
modernism, but also Hemingway s writing. Ernest Miller Hemingway was a modernist writer
who took his experiences from World War 1 and turned it into famous works of literature. Ernest
Miller Hemingway was born on July 21,1899 in Cicero, Illinois, which is now known as Oak
Park, Illinois. His parents were Clarence, who was a doctor, and Grace Hemingway, who was a
teacher. During his childhood, Hemingway found entertainment in outdoor activities like hunting
and fishing. In high school, Ernest wrote for his school s newspaper, his love for writing
eventually led him to work as a journalist after his graduation (Ernest HemingwayBibliography 3).
According to his bibliography, Ernest attempted to enlist in the American Army, but because of
his poor eyesight, he was rejected (Modernist Portraits Authors: Ernest Hemingway 2). Ernest
was eager to fight in the war so he became an ambulance driver for the Italian Army (Ernest
Hemingway Bibliography 5). The time Hemingway spent in the war inspired quite a few of his
famous novels like, A Farewell to Arms. Hemingway wrote several popular novels and in 1953 he

Ten Little Soldiers Summary
This book is about ten strangers who receive invitations from U.N. Owen to meet at Soldier
Island (off in England), the island that used to be owned by an American who hosted big
parties. So because they thought there would be a huge event, each individual gladly accepts.
Little did they know that no one else was going to be on that island. The guests arrive and meet
each other, except they still have no clue who Mr. or Mrs. U.N. Owen is. As they eat dinner, a
gramophone plays announcing why each guest has been invited, because they all have
committed murder that the law can t touch. As their vacation goes by, each soldier or guest dies
off one by one in a particular manner, their deaths follow those of the poem by Frank Green
titled Ten Little Soldiers or Ten Little Indians. The setting is on Soldier Island. Aan island in
Devon, England. There are no hills or caves, it is just a piece of land with a large house standing
on it. The book takes place at early August. From the eighth to the twelfth. There are so many
main characters because the book was about all ten guests. I think the most important character
is the murderer himself who is given a better description in the end of the book. Justice Wargrave
also known as U.N. Owen. Wargrave was accused of sending Edward Seton to his death because
he found him guilty in court while 9 out of 10 said he was innocent. He grew up with the lust to
kill, and he used the law as a way to send guilty people to their death without

Financial And Non Financial Benefits Essay
Compensation has long been considered one of the business organizations means of gaining
competitive advantage. Financial and non financial benefits are likely to assume a critical role in
attracting necessary professionals and retaining competent personnel (Rosenbloom Hallman, as
cited in Marsh Kleiner, 2004; Shields, 2007; Tetrick, Weathington, Da Silva Hutcheson, 2010).
How people are paid affects their behaviors at work, which affects an organization s success
(Milkovich, Newman Gerhart, 2011, p.5). This notion presses employers to place great importance
and careful considerations in designing compensation package for the personnel. An increasing
number of employers tailor their compensation package to come up with the one that would
maximize their workers earnings. The common approach of doing it is providing additional
monetary and non monetary benefits on top of the base pay. Martocchio (2014) explained that
companies are offering many benefits to take advantage of taxincentives by reducing taxable
income. Tax avoidance on compensation (also known as tax shielding) is also being practiced by
some companies in the Philippines. Some individuals are already enjoying the benefits of tax
savings, while others are wavering to follow this practice for fear of being accused of tax evasion.
Tax shielding compensation is not necessarily evil. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
promulgated revenue regulations that enumerate tax exempt compensation and

Meningitis And Encephalitis Research Paper
Meningitis and Encephalitis
What is the distinction amongst meningitis and encephalitis? Meningitis is an aggravation of the
meninges and the layers that encompass the cerebrum, while encephalitis is an irritation of the
mind itself. The reasons for meningitis and encephalitis incorporate microscopic organisms,
infections, growths, and parasites. Debilitated individuals might be more helpless, anybody with
good health can be affected. Now and again, Meningitis can likewise be caused by maladies that can
trigger aggravation of the tissues without contamination. The obvious signs of meningitis include
sudden fever, severe headaches, sensitivity to bright light, nausea, vomiting, double vision, trouble
with balance, and a stiff neck. Encephalitis can be characterized by seizures, fever, change in
behavior, and related neurological signs. Meningitis and Encephalitis can occur in all ages. When
dealing with an infant, important signs to watch for include fever, lethargy, vomiting, body
stiffness, unusual irritability, and a full or bulging fontanel. ... Show more content on

Soybeans, The, Inc.
Introduction
USoy, Inc., a multinational company, exports soybeans to China. Soybeans are a type of legume
mainly grown in Asia, South and North America. Due to the diminishing cropland space in China,
demand for soybeans is expected to keep growing in the future. The reason USoy chose soybeans to
export out of all the other products is because soybeans are one of the top agricultural exports from
the United States. Soybeans have many nutritional benefits, they are composed mainly of protein,
low in carbs, high in fiber, good source of various vitamins and minerals and they contain a number
of plant compounds that may help prevent breast and prostate cancer (Arnason, 2015).

used in binding furniture. Everyone has some use for soybeans.
Factors Affecting Trade For any country, international tradewill have an effect on its economy.
One factors that influences trade in China is inflation. If inflation is high in China, exporting to
China will decrease and local businesses may resort to purchasing in other countries. Another
factor that will influence trade in China is the impact of national income; if this increases
compared to the home country, the current account of the foreign country will decrease, and the
real income level will rise and result in demand for imports. Government policies also affect
MNC s when it comes to subsidizing exports and restrictions on import bills. If exports are
subsidized, it will make local business bigger competition for companies importing to that foreign
country. Restrictions on imports such as imposing of tariffs on imported goods, can reduce the
company s import. Any restrictions on exchange rates will affect the ability to use the revenue that
businesses receive in Renminbi. This will cause the new Chinese law to affect doing business in
China. Also if China s government changes its policies on the value added tax

Hector And Jason
In Home rs eipic The Illiad , The charcters Achilles, Hector, Medea, and Jason all had some great
characteristics and also had not so great characteristics that eventually led to each of their down
falls. Hector is the great warrior of the Trojan army, he fights with might and vigor, but often lets
his impulsive behavior get in the way of good decision making. Achillesis the leader of the Achean
army, he has glimpse of greatness but often lets his anger get in the way of decisions. Medeais the
princess of Colchis, she uses revenge and her cleverness in order to get things she wants. Jasonis
from Iolcus, his poor decision making could most likely give him the role of a villian. Jason is a
weak man and only does things to further himself in life. Although these characters all have good
qualites about them, the flaws are what lead them to their downfalls.
Hector was the great warrior of the Trojan army. He lead the Trojan army into to battle with the
Achean army. His level of pride was very high after setting fire to the Archean ship, and killing
Patroclus. After this battle his confidence was tremendously boosted, which caused a problem later

Essay Othello and Iago in William Shakespeare s Play
Othello and Iago in William Shakespeare s Play
Othello, the main character in the play is married to Desdemona. At the start of the play Othello is
seen as evil and bad by all the other characters and the audience. Brobantio (Desdemona s father),
dislikes Othello very much at the start of the play. This is because Othellomarried Desdemona
without her father s consent and Brobantio thinks Othello has used black magic to win
Desdemona s love. Whereas, this isn t the case, Othello married Desdemona because he loved her
and she loved him. Also, in the time period the play is set, women were never seen as very
important people in society and they were seen as the property of men. Usually their husband ...

In other words, Desdemona loved Othello for the life threatening things he s done and Othello
loved Desdemona for pitying them. This remark clears his name for marrying Desdemona. The
Duke and Brobantio become convinced that Othello loves Desdemona enough, to set Othello
free, without facing any serious charges. We also learn, Othello is called on business to Cyprus
and he has been most hotly called for , in the court case. In other words, Othello has been called
to Cyprus because he is a very important soldier. Othello takes Desdemona to Cyprus with him.
This shows Othello is a kind and honest man because he is kind enough to take his wife with him,
not to leave her behind like many men would have.
On the other hand, however, the audience see that Iago is evil and bad, the first time they meet him,
whereas, all the characters see him as honest and good at the start of the play. Roderigo is easily
tricked into thinking Iago is going to help get him and Desdemona together, (even though
Desdemona is already married), if he keeps paying Iago to help. Iago is just conning Roderigo out
of money; the audience can see that Iago is evil and bad here but the character, Roderigo, doesn t.
The audience soon finds out that, Iago hates Othello because Othello gave Michael Cassio the job
Iago has been wanting for ages, (Othello s second man in command). Iago also tells the audience

Architecture And Design Of The Modern Era
As individuals, we all have multifarious requirements for the buildings we use and the places we
live in, work and socialise in needs to mirror this diversity. In other words, to suit whatever purpose
we require from the structure and to make sure it functions as the designer envisaged.
Construction methods are constantly changing, and yet we can still appreciate the beauty, charm
and graceful lines of architecture dating back hundreds of years. This includes magnificent
buildings of the modern period as well as the traditional historical ones, brought to us from across
the world by the medium of pictures, either as moving images or stills.
Artists of each progressive era found these buildings a source of fascination, as they revealed a
breath taking beauty in the urban landscape.
It can be argued that architecture and design have proved more significant in the establishment of
cultures as civilisations developed. For the vast majority of the population, buildings are what
they saw and used in their everyday lives, it was either a place they lived in, worked in or
sometimes visited. Generally it was only the rich and privileged and this included religious
establishments who saw, and more importantly appreciated what was known as art . The general
population was fairly ambiguous to art and the aesthetics of architecture by adopting a more
pragmatic view of their surroundings. For most of them it did not excite their intellect, as they were
more concerned about order and

Summary Of Pat Conroy s The Lords Of Discipline
In The Lords of Discipline, Pat Conroy develops a complex personality in the character of Tradd
St. Croix. (Conroy 22) Tradd is a character overwhelmed by insecurities and through a variety of
reasons, is made to stay quiet about them. These insecurities and the restraint from expressing his
true feelings are what the artist s representation of Tradd presents to us, through a variety of visuals,
which show the artist s opinion of Tradd s innocence in the situation.
What first strikes the viewer about this image is its bizarre depiction of Tradd, shirtless, crying,
and chained by a collar. What this shows is Tradd s situation in life, wherein he is chained to the
high class St. Croix family. They bind him, and submit him to their will, despite what he wants
for himself. Tradd would most like to be with his friends and to enjoy their company, but
because of his position in the society of Charleston, he is held to certain values and traditions
that prevent him from enjoying his life for his own. An example of this would be Tradd s
membership in The Ten, a secret organization which seeks to cast out those they find unworthy
from the school. Tradd does not join this group of his own volition, rather he is forced into it by
his being a member of the St. Croix family. As Tradd put it, It was my heritage again, Will. I ve
never earned a single thing in my life on my own merits. Everything is because my name is
Tradd St. Croix. (551) Tradd feels he has a duty to uphold family tradition, but also longs to join
his friends, thus resulting in his being chained. This chaining is what leads to the sadness on Tradd
s face in the image. This conflict between his familial obligations and the straining of his
relationship with his friends is what causes Tradd so much torment, and leads to his sadness.
What next sticks out about the image is the background depiction of the four silhouettes. Due to the
somewhat ambiguous nature of these shadowy figures, there are multiple interpretations one can
take to understand them. Prominently featured over one of the figures is the letter X, or as it
symbolizes in Roman numerals, the number ten. This then relates back to Tradd s feeling held
captive by tradition and obligation to

Effectiveness of Relapse Prevention Therapy
Effectiveness of Relapse Prevention Therapy
Effectiveness of Relapse Prevention Therapy
Relapse prevention therapy involves employing cognitive behavioral techniques to reduce the
recurrence of relapse. One approach to relapse prevention is mindfulness based cognitive therapy
(MBCT), which was designed to reduce rates of relapse based on systematic training in mindfulness
meditation combined with cognitive behavioral therapy methods. MBCT is an 8 week group
therapy intervention that consists of 8 to 15 patients per group and sessions typically lasted 2
hours over 8 consecutive weeks with four follow up sessions in the following year. MBCT for
depression also teaches people to become more aware of their thoughts and feelings contributing to
recurring depressive episodes.
Another intervention that is commonly used is relapse prevention group therapy (RP), which
believes that addiction treatment should include a comprehensive behavioral therapy to address
the psychological factors contributing to relapse. The 50 participants that were included in the
relapse prevention therapy condition for heroin dependence and addiction were divided into 4
groups of 12 to 13 people per group and one instructor lead the sessions. Group sessions took
place 2 to 3 times per week and each session would run 90 minutes long focusing on a specific
topic. Relapse prevention therapy has shown significant improvements in reducing the recurrence
of relapse for heroin and depressive episodes.

Orientation Of Intrauterine Chord Attachment
Orientation of Intrauterine Chord Attachment in Equine Effects On Viability
According to the Jockey Club Registry for Thoroughbred horses, horses are given the birthday
of January 1 on the year of birth (Jockey Club). Producers are looking to maximize production of
pregnancy and look to have mares foal at or after January 1 to give their colts an age advantage
while racing. Because of the 11 month gestations of the mare, this means she must be bred between
February and March to achieve a foaling date on or after January 1. During the low day light levels
in the February and March, melatonin secretions from the pituitary are increased, which will inhibit
the kisspeptin neurons as well as GnRH secretrions from the hypothalamus and in turn will inhibit
ovulation (Maquivar, 2016). Producers have overcome this and have used light stimulation and
hormone therapies successfully in stimulating estrus during the normal anestrus period. The next
step towards creating reproductively efficient mares is to study the orientation of placentation and
chord attachment from the fetus to uterine walls and chorionic villi and determine if position can
effect the viability of the fetus.
Dependence from the oocyte and embryos in equine have been found to be more dependent upon
follicular factors and intrauterine attachment than ever before. The mare s unique gestation begins
from the point of ovulation, the ovulation fossa (Maquivar, 2016). The mare will reach a luteinizing
hormone (LH) peak

Examples Of Guilt In Macbeth
Guilt is a feeling of responsibility or remorse for a crime or cruel action. Usually, people have this
feeling once they do something terrible and it makes them want to fix their wrongdoings. However,
when Macbeth felt guilt it drove him to do more atrocious actions. In the play, Macbeth, written by
William Shakespeare, a general whose name is Macbethreceives prophecy by three witches that
one day he will become king of Scotland. Consumed by his ambition and spurred to action by his
wife Macbeth murders King Duncan and does anything in his power to remain king. After getting
blinded by this idea of being king he ultimately dies by the hand of Macduff. Shakespeare develops
the characters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to demonstrate how guiltmanifests... Show more content

Throughout the entire play, Macbeth, Shakespeare shows how Macbeth s guilt negatively
affected him emotionally as time went on. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth has a minor
emotional breakdown after he kills King Duncan. This emotional breakdown shows the guilt
that Macbeth felt, Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand (ii.2.63
64.29). Shakespeare uses this analogy to show the magnitude of his crime and how that guilt
can not wash off and go away easily. In the time period that Macbeth was in killing a king was a
major crime, so him not being able to wash the blood away helps create the idea that Macbeth
knows what he has done and feels the sin that he has committed. During the middle of the play,
Macbeth has Banquo killed so he doesn t take the crown. When Macbeth was going to enjoy
dinner and sit down at the table he saw Banquo s ghost appear and look at him, Thou hast no
speculation in those eyes, which thou dost glare (iii.4.96 97.54). This imagery that Shakespeare
uses helps to show that Macbeth feels some guilt of what he did and that guilt will come back to
haunt him. Even though Banquo is not physically

Anna Myers s historical fiction novel Assassin gives a detailed and thought provoking account of
President Lincoln s assassination. Alternating narration depicts events through the eyes of both

Many times prophecies were made and fulfilled, leading the readers to believe that supernatural
forces God or otherwise were present in the unfolding of the story. When Booth was born, his
mother believed the flames in the fire spelled COUNTRY, and so she believed that he would
have a great effect on America. Also, as a teenager, Booth had a fortune teller predict his future.
When she looked at the may crossed lines on his palms she became worried and predicted he
would die young but famous. Both of these prophecies were fulfilled in Booth s life. At the
White House, just days before his assassination, Lincoln had a dream. In the dream, he had died
been shot and killed and was lying in a large curtained coffin in the Green Room. This too came
true. In response to these occurrences, I cannot really judge whether they are true or false. I
generally consider supernatural events to be unlikely, though I would not deem them impossible.
Considering the specific events in the story however, I believe the word in the flames and the
supposed fortune actually specifically influenced Booth s life, instead of being signs of divine
future seeing. Also, I believe that Lincoln s dream, aside from being somewhat concerning, was
just a coincidence and was probably caused by the rational long term fear the entire Lincoln family
had of being

Components Of The Information Security Triangle And List...
Pranay Gunna Assignment 1 CECS 631 Fall 2014 09/12/2014 1. Do problem 15 on page 30.
Outline the three components of the information security triangle and list one violation example for
each 1. Confidentiality. Confidentiality means to limit the access to information and access to only
authorized users. This also means preventing accessing to unauthorized users. Protecting valuable
information is very major part of the information security. A key component of confidentiality is
encryption. Encryption makes sure that only the authorized person can have access to information.
To implement confidentiality in your company most things to do is classification into different
levels. Each security level must have their own security restrictions. This component is also closely
linked with privacy. Ensuring confidentiality means that information is organized in terms of who
ought to have access as well as its sensitivity. Example: A breach of confidentiality may take place
through different means, for instance hacking. Hacking is used to access some restricted
information of a company/user. 2. Integrity. Integrity of information means to protect data
/information from being modified by unauthorized users. It also includes the concept of data
integrity. Data integrity refers to the certainty that the data are not tampered with during or after
submission. This means integrity could be compromised: during the upload of data and during the
storage of the document in the database.

The Thought and Influence of Voltaire Essay
The Thought and Influence of Voltaire
I The legacy of François Marie Arouet, or Voltaire is not only a vast collection of writings, but
also a world that has been radically and directly affected by these works and the activities of their
author. While Voltaire did not create many of the ideas he professed, his success at disseminating
these is unparalleled. He summed up with the most panache of anyone of his day the central issues
of the Enlightenment, and rallied with the greatest fervour to see his beliefs tangibly realised.
This paper will focus on Voltaires stances on vital issues, their weight versus the ideas and practices
against which they are reactions, and their influence on both 18th century Europe and the modern
West. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cosmology Like many of the philosophes, Voltaire was a deist. He believed that, although God
was not one to intervene in earthly affairs, such an entity did exist. The scientific revolution had
demonstrated that the universe operated according to rational mechanics. Therefore, resembling a
machine, it must have an engineer behind it.5[5] While deist theories about space and time are
muddled and confusing for those of us who take modern science for granted (particularly in their
dependence on the concept of God),6[6] their nascent determinism is very familiar in this age
where behaviourism is so popular. Mired in Newtonian causality, Voltaire (echoing John Locke)
believed that action is the effect of which the will is the cause. The cause of the will is the effect of
environment. The environment is part of the clockwork universe made and wound by God.7[7]
While this theory brings environment into the discussion of development of personality, it makes
people into passive receptacles and cogs in machines.8[8]
Voltaire s belief in God was partly pragmatic. He recognised the difficulty of maintaining an ethical
system without rewards and punishments. The Christian tradition had so long used heaven and hell
as motivational factors that it was hard by the 18th century to imagine morality for its own sake.
While just laws would ensure just actions by the general population,

and her father a businessman. During her senior year in 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and
Uchida, along with other Japanese Americans, were sent to relocation camps. She worked as a

created profound stories full of sense to both reader and the topic displayed.Yoshiko Uchidaused
her experiences in the concentration camps, the prejudice she faced in high school, her tradition at

Historical Accuracy of the Film Good Night Good Luck Essay
The Movie good night good luck is incredibly historically accurate. The Movie uses authentic
clips that show McCarthy and many speeches Murrow used. World War ended in 1945 leaving a
broken Europe and a communist block behind. The United States quickly receded back to the red
scare that had existed before WWII. The United States quickly set an anti communist stance and
prepared for a war against the communists. While the war never came some enterprising
individuals placed themselves in powerful positions using the paranoia created. Among these
individuals one came forward and began one of the most controversial historical programs. Joe

Slope On Calculus
How can I better facilitate my students understanding of slope (rate of change) while taking
calculus?
Introduction
Slope is a very important foundational and abstract mathematical topic that emerges in the
secondary mathematics curricula. It is a topic applied in many fields, including the sciences, but its
conceptual development marks a significant transition to advanced mathematical courses as in the
study of calculus. By definition, calculus is the study of change and motion. In a calculus class, a
conceptual understanding of slope is extremely crucial because it allows for the study of abstract
concepts that rely on application of slope as a rate of change. However, beginning students studying
calculus have difficulty conceptualizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that students can read the slope of a linear function using or/and compute the slope
using the famous slope formula . However, their understanding of slope as a rate of change (Q1)
and slope as a real life application (Q3) is Basic and Far Below Basic. Obviously, there is a
continuous emphasis on the procedural interpretation of slope, rather than a conceptual
development. In addition, students do not have a strong understanding that slope and rate of
change are the same and can be used interchangeably. It seems that they see slope and rate of
change as two separate concepts. Furthermore, most students had difficulty describing the
importance of using slope in certain cases vs. using rate of change in certain cases. Again, slope
and rate of change are taken as two different

Essay On Issue Management Process
To facilitate the Project Manager in dealing with unforeseen events the Issue Management
procedure outlines a structured yet efficient and agile way to respond to problems as they arise.
The Project Manager needs to categorize each issue according to its impact. This facilitates the
identification of suitable responses, including the use of matrices or past lessons documenting the
resolution of similar issues. The issue categories are:
Change Request: a formal request to change an approved (Baseline) product or aspect of the project.
Off Specification: a non forecasted discrepancy between a product or aspect of the project from
their planned description
Problem/Question: any other event that impacts the project Although issues can be managed in
both a formal or informal way (depending on their nature, impact, and level of authority delegated
to the PM) there are some instances where a formal procedure must be applied (Change Requests
impacting Baseline products, Issues that are considered outside of the PM s remit as per
contractual agreements, policies, applicable standards). To ensure an effective Issue Management
the following steps, stated in Figure 1, will be executed by us. Figure 1: The Issue Management

The issue and change management procedure provides for the issue or change to be captured,

Why Is Street Racing Dangerous
Draft So many people are scared of getting hurt. Me personally I don t care if I get hurt. This is
why street racing is fun to me. Me personally I don t care if I get hurt. This is why street racing is
fun to me. It makes me feel like I am in control of what happens to me. My paper is about street
racing and I will discuss what my topic is over, how street racers can race safely if they are
scared, and where to go to race safely. In order to understand street racing you must have some
back ground knowledge on the subject. Street racing can kill you. Four people died in her
jurisdiction including a teen bicyclist (Lendon, 1). This all happened within a short amount of
time. This shows that street racing is dangerous if you aren t smart about it. A personal account
of a street racer said, I thought I was going to die (Lendon, 1). Most people that race know the
danger but they still race because it is fun. The same person after getting a wreck went on to say,
The thrill of racing wasn t gone (Lendon, 1). Street racing hangouts usually feature many people.

My Food Allergies
Have you ever been offered a disgusting looking homemade meal by a loved one and you didn t
know how to turn it down because you didn t want to offend them? That s really unfortunate for
you because I m guessing you had to suffer through the horrid taste and finish the entire dish. But
for me, I have a secret answer so that I never have to eat anything I don t want. With one sentence
containing one magic word, I can turn down any nasty looking meal. Want to know what it is?
Allergies. That is my magic word. All I have to say is, I probably can t eat that because I have egg,
peanut, and treenut allergies but thank you so much for the thought! Just like that, I am safe from
the horror with no blood on my hands because the person who made the foodis too scared that I
could die if they feed it to me. This is just one advantage of having an anaphylactic food allergybut I
figured it was a useful tool to share if you ever find yourself in that situation and need to use a
quick white lie. I see my food allergies as a positive in my life not only because of the excuses I
can make with food, but because they give me such a different mindset than everyone around
me. My allergies are part of my identity and part of what makes me, me. They have transformed
me from feelings of insecurity to achieving self actualization and owning my differences. If

An Article Critique
In his article entitled Is There a Philippine Public Administration? , Dr. Onofre Corpuz attempts to
explain and define the scope of government as he believes that this is crucial to establishing the
scope of one s personal life, which ought to remain private and inviolable from public invasion . He
writes, The fact that the scope of government has not been discussed is not strange . As such, the
article focuses on the role of government and its scope in an effort to answer the fundamental
question concerning the existence of a Philippine Public Administration. Although the essay has no
explicit yes or no answer to the question at hand, it goes without saying that there is indeed a
Philippine Public Administration inasmuch as there are major Philippine institutions that shape
such, to wit: education, politics, and government. By looking into the logical development of the
ideas presented in the article, it can be said that the author s way of putting his message ... Show

Difference Between Chinese Culture and Western Culture
Intercultural Communication and the Conflicts between Chinese Culture and Western Culture
Abstract
There are many matters of cultural conflicts in intercultural communication of Chinese culture and
western culture, and it seriously affects the course of communication. So, it is necessary for us to
find the in depth reason and make some plans on how to improve the ability of intercultural
communication. This is the right way to avoid the cultural conflicts. There are several culture
conflicts: the conflicts on privacy, the conflicts on the sense of time, the conflicts on traditional
cultures, the conflicts on table custom. The reasons are: the difference in the mode of thinking, the
difference in behavior, the difference in the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
B. The conflicts on the sense of time
The sense of time of western people is closely related with money. The idea that Time is money
has formed in their thought. So, they set a high value on their time. In the daily time, western
people have a meticulous plan about their time and they have a good habit of coming to date on
time. In western countries, if you want to call on someone, you must inform them or date with
them before you come and you should tell them your coming purpose, the time and the place.
After both of you discuss about it, you can make it out. But, Chinese people use their time at
their pleasure. Usually, Chinese people will not do things as the western people, and western
people usually feel unsuitable on this course. Most western people spend their time in working
and studying, they seldom spend a lot time in eating or doing something else. But Chinese people
spend much time on other things. For example, when western people come to KFC to have a
meal, they eat their food as soon as possible, but, the Chinese people in KFC show another
situation. They eat their food slowly and chat with each other. They do not think this is a way to
waste time.
C. The conflicts on traditional cultures
Chinese people pay special attention to modesty. When they communicate with others, they often
respect others but look down upon themselves. They think this is a virtue and this is a polite
phenomenon with Chinese characteristics. When others praise

The Implementation Of Senate Bill 14
Your question concerns the implementation of Senate Bill 14, which added new voter identification
requirements for in person voting statewide. Prior to June 26, 2013; Texas and a number of other
states and political subdivisions could not alter their voting requirements without preclearance from
either the U.S. Attorney General or a three judge panel sitting for the U.S. District Court of the
District of Columbia. Following the Supreme Court decision in Shelby County, Ala. v. Holder,
states beholden to the preclearance requirement were released, subject to an amendment to the
coverage formula in В§ 4(b) of the VotingRights Act of 1965. While you understand that Texas now
has equal ability to alter its electionprocedures as states never covered by В§ 4(b), you desire to
do so in a way that would not again bring the Texas legislature s exercise of authority under the
scrutiny of Congress or the Constitution. Senate Bill 14 amended, most significantly, Sec. 63.0101
of the Election Code the Documentation of Proof of Identification section. Texas voters could
previously show their (1) voter certificate, (2) any ID issued by a government agency in any state,
whether or not the ID was expired, (3) any photo ID that established identity, (4) birth certificate or
equivalent document, (5) U.S. citizenship papers, (6) U.S passport, (7) official mail from a
government entity, or (8) current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other
government document. S.B. 14

Channel Partitioning Essay
In data communication, they are always striving to increase throughput, this would include
allowing nodes to transmit information over a single broadcast link without interfering with each
other. To achieve this, multiple access protocols coordinate the transmission. There are three classes
of multiple access protocols, random access, taking turns and channel partitioning. With random
access protocol, each node tries to randomly to access the complete broadcast link, without any
regard to the other nodes. Taking turns protocol utilizes some type of turning mechanism, which
designates which node is allowed to transmit. Channel partitioning protocol divides the channel
(time slots, frequency, code) and assigns them evenly between all of... Show more content on

There are numerous of taking turn protocols, two are polling protocol and token passing
protocol. The polling protocol requires one of the node to be designated as a master node. The
master polls each of the nodes in a round robin fashion. The master first sends a message to node
1, saying that it can transmit. After node 1 transmits, the master sends a message to node 2 it
can transmit The master determines when a node has finished sending its frames by observing
the lack of a signal on the channel. The procedure continues in this manner, with the master
polling each of the nodes in a cyclic manner. (Kurose 459) An advantage of this type of protocol
is it avoids collisions, since nodes are only allowed to transmit when they are given access to the
channel. Disadvantage to polling, are delays, as transmitters have to wait for the poll and the
centralization with the requirement for a master to conduct the polling, if it fails the entire
channel becomes inoperative. Token passing protocol there is no master node, instead special
purpose frame known as a token is exchanged among the nodes in some order. When a node
receives a token, it holds onto the token only if it has some frames to transmit; otherwise, it
immediately forwards the token to the next node. If a node does have frames to transmit when it
receives the token, it sends up to a maximum number of frames and then forwards the token to the
next node. (Kurose 459) Advantage of token passing protocol is it

How Does Wilfred Owen Explore the Horror of War Through...
Wilfred Owen, War Poems and Others How does Wilfred Owen explore the horror of war
through the power of poetry? Throughout the several poems Wilfred Owen wrote throughout his
experience during the First World War, he explores many themes in relation to the war and the
emotions associated with these. One of the most prevalent ideas Wilfred Owen chooses to
emphasise in many of his poems is that of the sense of horror associated with war and all the
consequences of it such as those including death, disability, pain and gore and this emphasis can
be clearly seen in 2 of Wilfred Owens most famous poems: Dulce Et Decorum Est and Mental

even without an optimal offering price, and valuation models including multiples comparison and

Given JetBlue s supreme model was so attractive to creditors and institutional investors as well
as mom and dad investors, was there any choice to acquire capital with lower costs or higher
proceeds than IPO? Was there a secondary offering? The key is: to what extend do the
management and WPCs want to adjust the control power and capital structure. A degree of
control, a healthy DE ratio like Southwest and a stable dividend policy should be desirable in 5
years when JetBlue is able to settle down. But back to 2002, all the Board knew about was

and manage your finances over the web. Eventually accountants are bound to evaluate the medium
and experiment with providing their current and expanded services over the Internet (Kogan,
Sudit, Vasarhelyi. 2009). The challenge for the profession is to offer a balance of services that are
sound, that eventually will be profitable, and that satisfy the needs of e commerce
and of society at large. As specific new offerings like online tax consulting, and remote auditing
evolve, demand for the electronic version of traditional services, such as accounting/bookkeeping
services on the net will follow (Kogan, Sudit,
Vasarhelyi. 2009). With these challenges to accountants, they will have to change their current
methods of calculating, writing, storing, and talking to the client from on paper and in person to all
done over the computer and internet. Historically, accounting was performed in columned ledger
books and required hours to record relevant information. Each transaction was recorded in daily
activity, then summarized into monthly results and quarterly, annual and comparative reports. One
or more clerks were responsible for recording this data legibly by hand, many using ink pens that
would lead to reworking a page with too many accidental ink blots. Those using pencils and erasers
had some flexibility and could then ink over final reports, making the

The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream...
During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation
of my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two
main characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice
cream parlor. This helped with my revisionof plot and main conflict because the two characters did
not have enough money for the down payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob
a bank in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my
revision was the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed,
stupid. However, my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke
different. An example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example,
Christopher is very goofylike Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the
car, he is the one to have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank.
Moreover, he is the one that starts to become serious when he fights the hostage in the bank.
Although both of the characters are stupid, Christopher s characteris what keeps the guys going.
Without Chris, Jerry would be clueless. We can see Jerry s characterization through his actions.
Jerry does not think anything through. For instance, in the bank, he brings in business cards with
both their names on them. This is something stupid

China s Expansion Into The South China Sea Case Study
Around the year 2015 China has started building artificial islands on disputed territory in the South
China Sea for the purpose of resource mining, installment of surveillance and defensive

the Philippines, Malaysia, and Japan have expressed security concerns regarding Chinas aggressive
expansion unto territories such as the Spratyl Islands and Rubi Reef as China had increased

Thus, the area holds significant economic importance for Asia and the Pacific which is at risk
with mounting tensions and aggressive territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additionally, in
regards to the legitimacy of the conflict, The Permanent Court of Arbitration, which serves as a
arbitral tribunal to solve disputes in the international community in accordance with the UN and
international law, ruled China s nine dash line claims in the South China Sea, its occupation of
Mischief Reef, its denial of access to Scarborough Shoal, its island building in the Spratly s, and
its harassment of others in the Philippine exclusive economic zone (EEZ) as illegitimate actions.
(Vuyling) Thus, the legality of China s expansion and claims to the territory furthers the problem

why the South China Sea is a highly contested area with many of the surrounding nations laying

Robert Von Hardenberg Research Paper
Georg Philipp Friedrich von Hardenberg was born in 1772 at Oberwiederstedt manor (now part of
Arnstein, Saxony Anhalt), in the Harz mountains. The family seat was a manorial estate, not simply
a stately home. Novalis descended from ancient, Low German nobility. Different lines of the family
include such important, influential magistrates and ministry officials as the Prussian chancellor
Karl August von Hardenberg (1750 1822). An oil painting and a christening cap commonly
assigned to Novalis are his only possessions now extant. In the church in Wiederstedt, he was
christened Georg Philipp Friedrich. He spent his childhood on the family estate and used it as the
starting point for his travels into the Harz mountains.

At Transylvania University, One Area That Is Frequented
At Transylvania University, one area that is frequented by students is the common space on the
fourth floor of the Dalton Voight residence hall. This area is accessible only to the
upperclassmen students who live in this hall. The common area is directly in front of the elevator
with hallways of students rooms branching off on either side. A window on the other side
overlooks back circle, as it is called by the students, a greenspace area in the middle of this
residential area. In the warmer months, this area is more populated. However, during the winter
months, all the furniture has been removed and students are only seen passing through back circle.

Clearly, many students have taken the mix of furniture to be a benefit, instead of the
contradiction that it seems to imply. The common area is also quite large and students use all
the space available to them by spreading out far from each other. When first entering the area,
most students would never think to sit immediately next to someone or even at the table over.
Even I do this myself when entering, never considering sitting close to someone already there.
For example, on one day while I was studying there, there were also three other students were
using this space to study and we were all separated into four different corners. However, there is
some socialization that does take place there. The most common social interactions that I have
witnessed are between students passing through and stopping to talk with those studying in the
common area. One of the main facets of the common area is its open design, leading directly to
hallways of students rooms on the side and the elevator. As a result, the traffic of students is a
frequent experience of being in this space. Usually, these spontaneous conversations are kept
limited to small talk as both people are working on separate activities. These social interactions are
also short because it is primarily a place for studying, so people do not want to be disruptive.
Although this is not a formal rule, it is implied because of the activities taking place there. The

Impeachment of Bill Clinton Essay
President Bill Clinton began an affair with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern, in 1995.
Later in 1998, when confronted with questions in regards to an affair with Monica Lewinsky,
Clinton lied under oath in front of a grand jury. This, however, was not his first lapse in judgment
as viewed by the Senate and Congress. The President and his wife, Hillary, found themselves
involved in the Whitewater scandal beginning in 1978. In addition, during his campaign, Clinton
was accused of draft dodging and rumors were spread in regards to his possible marriage infidelity.

Following the hearings on Whitewater, Monica S. Lewinsky began working as an unpaid intern
in the White House chief of staff s office. In August of 1995, Monica attended a surprise birthday
gathering for the President on the South Lawn. While there, the President shook her hand as she
wished him a happy birthday. Monica would later describe this encounter to the Office of
Independent Council, in the presence of a grand jury, as the beginning of a flirtation that went
on at a distance. (Gormley 235). On November 13, 1995, Monica received a promotion to a paid
position in the Office of Legislative Affairs located in the East Wing. Two days later, Republican
House Speaker Newt Gingrich issued a government shutdown. Monica reported to work during
the shutdown and at one point during the day, Monica and the President s paths crossed. Monica
passed by the door to the inner office of the West Wing and saw Clinton standing by himself.
Lewinsky then lifted her jacket to show Clinton the straps of her underwear. Clinton invited her

briefly and sort of acknowledged there had been a chemistry that was there before and that we
were both attracted to each other and then he asked me if he could kiss me (The History Place).

How Did Valley Forge Affect The American Revolution
Valley Forge directly affected the American Revolution because it made the Continental Army
stronger and led them to win the Revolutionary War. Valley Forge was where the Continental Army

Motivation And Motivation For An Effective Manager
Motivation
Job performance is essentially a function of ability and motivation. One s ability can be developed
through training, education, and work experience. However, substantial developments in
motivation can be obtained fairly quickly. As an effective manager, may achieve a significant
increase in your team s performance by improving its motivation; this begins with understanding
what motivates people. According to Maslow Hierarchy of needs theory (Robbins et al., 2014),
there are 5 levels of motivation that a manager should recognize as it relates to what motivates
individuals and how people are motivated. This has been demonstrated throughout my career as
different things motivate different people. The motivation can come right ... Show more content on

Both motivation systems are part of the Cognitive Evaluation Theory. A cognitive evaluation theory
is a precursor of self determination theory and centers on the distinction between intrinsic and
extrinsic motivation (Vallerand, 2000, p 2). The theory is regarding material or non material
motivators and managers knowing the people they are managing.
Decision Making Communication When it comes to communication and decision making traits,
many behaviors can be a subset of the above theories. As Maslow s hierarchal theory suggests
many decisions are psychological in nature (Amondt, 2014). The perceives at the time of
conceiving things actually make a judgmental stage for taking decisions. The ERG theory of
realization actually helps in making a sound decision and perfect communication (Robbins, et al.,
2014). To be an effective leader, one must be able to make good decisions and be a strong
communicator. For better communication, it is encouraged to follow best practices, such as having
enough patience and demonstrating listening skills. In my experience, getting people motivated is
not always an easy task. Management must identify the root cause of the current issue and work on
that to get

Essay about The Right of Reigious Freedom
Religious freedom is arguably the oldest and deepest of rights embedded in the modern
collection of liberties. Religion has been historically one of the most powerful forces in shaping
the morals of humanity. According to the 1993 Project on Religion and Human rights; Religion
is defined as: Encompassing a world view or set of beliefs, along with a value system and a way
of life embodying and expressing these beliefs. They are not merely a matter of belief or doctrine,
but actually constitute an integral culture which can form personal and social identity and can
influence experience and behavior significantly. Religious persecution existed as early as the

Weather it be Coke and Pepsi, Mac and Windows, or Nike and Adidas, for every successful brand
in the world, there is always another equally popular one in existence whose presence divides the
human race. This seemingly natural rise of rivalry has found its place in the vast world of music, in
particular, the electric guitar. Behold Fender and Gibson. Two brands that have blown the
competition out of the water for more than half a century and become something much more than
just a brand. Unlike other corporations, these two guitars have earned the respect and praise of the
public; their dual monopoly is seen not as a negative, but as an opportunity to provide the world

underneath the strings, by where the picking takes place. He pick up the electromagnetic waves
from the string and send them out of the guitar. Stats use three single coil pickups with the third
one slightly slanted. These type of pickups offer a very distinct sound only fender is capable of
creating. It is best described as twangy and crisp. They sound extremely bright and behave well
in all genres of music. The single coil pickups are sloppy and primitive, but that is all part of the
Fender sound. Gibson Les Pauls uses what are called humbucker pickups. These are essentially
just two single coiled pickups placed right next to each other. What this does is that all the
background buzz and feedback that the guitar picks up is killed. These pickups are better
described as warm and soft, they seem to fill the air better. But what makes Gibsons special is the
way they behave using overdrive. Distortion pedals give Gibsons a crunchy sound that is the staple

The World Of Business Is Chiefly Based On The Aspects Of...
Without a doubt, the world of business is chiefly based on the aspects of supply and demand.
Throughout history, a multitude of companies both big and small and offline and online have
been able to grow and spread through providing the best services to customers. In the form of
products and services, various companies have been able to build upon preexisting value ratings
while at the same time using this as a template to help boost more sales down the line. However, as
technology changed so did the power of promotion. For instance, prior to the invention of the radio,
many companies had to rely either upon word of mouth or different forms of advertisingthrough
print ads. This was particularly the key factors that aided in the growth and promotion of
companies such as Sears throughout its creation and development in the late 1880s. In short, with
the widespread availability of traveling through the newly introduced national railroad system, the
founders created, passed around, and mailed their innovative catalogs to help spread word and
deliver products to consumers (Brake, 88). Decades later with the invention of the radio,
companies increasingly had much more bargaining power as they could literally speak directly to
their audience. A few decades later, this overall level of marketing grew even more in reference to
the actual presentation of products and services with the invention of the television. For the very
first time in history, companies could literally

  • 4. Ten Little Soldiers Summary This book is about ten strangers who receive invitations from U.N. Owen to meet at Soldier Island (off in England), the island that used to be owned by an American who hosted big parties. So because they thought there would be a huge event, each individual gladly accepts. Little did they know that no one else was going to be on that island. The guests arrive and meet each other, except they still have no clue who Mr. or Mrs. U.N. Owen is. As they eat dinner, a gramophone plays announcing why each guest has been invited, because they all have committed murder that the law can t touch. As their vacation goes by, each soldier or guest dies off one by one in a particular manner, their deaths follow those of the poem by Frank Green titled Ten Little Soldiers or Ten Little Indians. The setting is on Soldier Island. Aan island in Devon, England. There are no hills or caves, it is just a piece of land with a large house standing on it. The book takes place at early August. From the eighth to the twelfth. There are so many main characters because the book was about all ten guests. I think the most important character is the murderer himself who is given a better description in the end of the book. Justice Wargrave also known as U.N. Owen. Wargrave was accused of sending Edward Seton to his death because he found him guilty in court while 9 out of 10 said he was innocent. • 5. Financial And Non Financial Benefits Essay Compensation has long been considered one of the business organizations means of gaining competitive advantage. Financial and non financial benefits are likely to assume a critical role in attracting necessary professionals and retaining competent personnel (Rosenbloom Hallman, as cited in Marsh Kleiner, 2004; Shields, 2007; Tetrick, Weathington, Da Silva Hutcheson, 2010). How people are paid affects their behaviors at work, which affects an organization s success (Milkovich, Newman Gerhart, 2011, p.5). This notion presses employers to place great importance and careful considerations in designing compensation package for the personnel. An increasing number of employers tailor their compensation package to come up with the one that would maximize their workers earnings. The common approach of doing it is providing additional monetary and non monetary benefits on top of the base pay. Martocchio (2014) explained that companies are offering many benefits to take advantage of taxincentives by reducing taxable income. Tax avoidance on compensation (also known as tax shielding) is also being practiced by some companies in the Philippines. Some individuals are already enjoying the benefits of tax savings, while others are wavering to follow this practice for fear of being accused of tax evasion. Tax shielding compensation is not necessarily evil. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) promulgated revenue regulations that enumerate tax exempt compensation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the diminishing cropland space in China, demand for soybeans is expected to keep growing in the future. The reason USoy chose soybeans to export out of all the other products is because soybeans are one of the top agricultural exports from the United States. Soybeans have many nutritional benefits, they are composed mainly of protein, low in carbs, high in fiber, good source of various vitamins and minerals and they contain a number of plant compounds that may help prevent breast and prostate cancer (Arnason, 2015). Factors Affecting Trade For any country, international tradewill have an effect on its economy. One factors that influences trade in China is inflation. If inflation is high in China, exporting to China will decrease and local businesses may resort to purchasing in other countries. Another factor that will influence trade in China is the impact of national income; if this increases compared to the home country, the current account of the foreign country will decrease, and the real income level will rise and result in demand for imports. Government policies also affect MNC s when it comes to subsidizing exports and restrictions on import bills. If exports are subsidized, it will make local business bigger competition for companies importing to that foreign country. Restrictions on imports such as imposing of tariffs on imported goods, can reduce the company s import. Any restrictions on exchange rates will affect the ability to use the revenue that businesses receive in Renminbi. This will cause the new Chinese law to affect doing business in China. At the start of the play Othello is seen as evil and bad by all the other characters and the audience. Brobantio (Desdemona s father), dislikes Othello very much at the start of the play. This is because Othellomarried Desdemona without her father s consent and Brobantio thinks Othello has used black magic to win Desdemona s love. We also learn, Othello is called on business to Cyprus and he has been most hotly called for , in the court case. In other words, Othello has been called to Cyprus because he is a very important soldier. Othello takes Desdemona to Cyprus with him. This shows Othello is a kind and honest man because he is kind enough to take his wife with him, not to leave her behind like many men would have. On the other hand, however, the audience see that Iago is evil and bad, the first time they meet him, whereas, all the characters see him as honest and good at the start of the play. Roderigo is easily tricked into thinking Iago is going to help get him and Desdemona together, (even though Desdemona is already married), if he keeps paying Iago to help. Iago is just conning Roderigo out of money; the audience can see that Iago is evil and bad here but the character, Roderigo, doesn t. • 10. Architecture And Design Of The Modern Era As individuals, we all have multifarious requirements for the buildings we use and the places we live in, work and socialise in needs to mirror this diversity. In other words, to suit whatever purpose we require from the structure and to make sure it functions as the designer envisaged. Construction methods are constantly changing, and yet we can still appreciate the beauty, charm and graceful lines of architecture dating back hundreds of years. This includes magnificent buildings of the modern period as well as the traditional historical ones, brought to us from across the world by the medium of pictures, either as moving images or stills. Artists of each progressive era found these buildings a source of fascination, as they revealed a breath taking beauty in the urban landscape. It can be argued that architecture and design have proved more significant in the establishment of cultures as civilisations developed. For the vast majority of the population, buildings are what they saw and used in their everyday lives, it was either a place they lived in, worked in or sometimes visited. Generally it was only the rich and privileged and this included religious establishments who saw, and more importantly appreciated what was known as art . The general population was fairly ambiguous to art and the aesthetics of architecture by adopting a more pragmatic view of their surroundings. • 11. Summary Of Pat Conroy s The Lords Of Discipline In The Lords of Discipline, Pat Conroy develops a complex personality in the character of Tradd St. Croix. (Conroy 22) Tradd is a character overwhelmed by insecurities and through a variety of reasons, is made to stay quiet about them. These insecurities and the restraint from expressing his true feelings are what the artist s representation of Tradd presents to us, through a variety of visuals, which show the artist s opinion of Tradd s innocence in the situation. What first strikes the viewer about this image is its bizarre depiction of Tradd, shirtless, crying, and chained by a collar. What this shows is Tradd s situation in life, wherein he is chained to the high class St. Croix family. They bind him, and submit him to their will, despite what he wants for himself. Tradd would most like to be with his friends and to enjoy their company, but because of his position in the society of Charleston, he is held to certain values and traditions that prevent him from enjoying his life for his own. An example of this would be Tradd s membership in The Ten, a secret organization which seeks to cast out those they find unworthy from the school. Tradd does not join this group of his own volition, rather he is forced into it by his being a member of the St. Croix family. As Tradd put it, It was my heritage again, Will. I ve never earned a single thing in my life on my own merits. Everything is because my name is Tradd St. Croix. (551) Tradd feels he has a duty to uphold family tradition, but also longs to join his friends, thus resulting in his being chained. This chaining is what leads to the sadness on Tradd s face in the image. This conflict between his familial obligations and the straining of his relationship with his friends is what causes Tradd so much torment, and leads to his sadness. What next sticks out about the image is the background depiction of the four silhouettes. Due to the somewhat ambiguous nature of these shadowy figures, there are multiple interpretations one can take to understand them. Prominently featured over one of the figures is the letter X, or as it symbolizes in Roman numerals, the number ten. This then relates back to Tradd s feeling held captive by tradition and obligation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Effectiveness of Relapse Prevention Therapy Effectiveness of Relapse Prevention Therapy Effectiveness of Relapse Prevention Therapy Relapse prevention therapy involves employing cognitive behavioral techniques to reduce the recurrence of relapse. One approach to relapse prevention is mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), which was designed to reduce rates of relapse based on systematic training in mindfulness meditation combined with cognitive behavioral therapy methods. MBCT is an 8 week group therapy intervention that consists of 8 to 15 patients per group and sessions typically lasted 2 hours over 8 consecutive weeks with four follow up sessions in the following year. MBCT for depression also teaches people to become more aware of their thoughts and feelings contributing to recurring depressive episodes. Another intervention that is commonly used is relapse prevention group therapy (RP), which believes that addiction treatment should include a comprehensive behavioral therapy to address the psychological factors contributing to relapse. The 50 participants that were included in the relapse prevention therapy condition for heroin dependence and addiction were divided into 4 groups of 12 to 13 people per group and one instructor lead the sessions. Group sessions took place 2 to 3 times per week and each session would run 90 minutes long focusing on a specific topic. • 14. Orientation Of Intrauterine Chord Attachment Orientation of Intrauterine Chord Attachment in Equine Effects On Viability According to the Jockey Club Registry for Thoroughbred horses, horses are given the birthday of January 1 on the year of birth (Jockey Club). Producers are looking to maximize production of pregnancy and look to have mares foal at or after January 1 to give their colts an age advantage while racing. Because of the 11 month gestations of the mare, this means she must be bred between February and March to achieve a foaling date on or after January 1. During the low day light levels in the February and March, melatonin secretions from the pituitary are increased, which will inhibit the kisspeptin neurons as well as GnRH secretrions from the hypothalamus and in turn will inhibit ovulation (Maquivar, 2016). Producers have overcome this and have used light stimulation and hormone therapies successfully in stimulating estrus during the normal anestrus period. The next step towards creating reproductively efficient mares is to study the orientation of placentation and chord attachment from the fetus to uterine walls and chorionic villi and determine if position can effect the viability of the fetus. Dependence from the oocyte and embryos in equine have been found to be more dependent upon follicular factors and intrauterine attachment than ever before. The mare s unique gestation begins from the point of ovulation, the ovulation fossa (Maquivar, 2016). The mare will reach a luteinizing hormone (LH) peak ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that this type of system is accessible, although may be difficult to use at times, provides health care providers easy access to their patients information. I do believe that electronic health records will be an important aspect of our health care because it will be more of an efficient way to view patient results of laboratory data, test results, and access to past medical history compared to searching through multiple patient documents in their chart. • 16. Examples Of Guilt In Macbeth Guilt is a feeling of responsibility or remorse for a crime or cruel action. Usually, people have this feeling once they do something terrible and it makes them want to fix their wrongdoings. However, when Macbeth felt guilt it drove him to do more atrocious actions. In the play, Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, a general whose name is Macbethreceives prophecy by three witches that one day he will become king of Scotland. Consumed by his ambition and spurred to action by his wife Macbeth murders King Duncan and does anything in his power to remain king. After getting blinded by this idea of being king he ultimately dies by the hand of Macduff. Shakespeare develops the characters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to demonstrate how guiltmanifests... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the entire play, Macbeth, Shakespeare shows how Macbeth s guilt negatively affected him emotionally as time went on. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth has a minor emotional breakdown after he kills King Duncan. This emotional breakdown shows the guilt that Macbeth felt, Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand (ii.2.63 64.29). Shakespeare uses this analogy to show the magnitude of his crime and how that guilt can not wash off and go away easily. In the time period that Macbeth was in killing a king was a major crime, so him not being able to wash the blood away helps create the idea that Macbeth knows what he has done and feels the sin that he has committed. During the middle of the play, Macbeth has Banquo killed so he doesn t take the crown. When Macbeth was going to enjoy dinner and sit down at the table he saw Banquo s ghost appear and look at him, Thou hast no speculation in those eyes, which thou dost glare (iii.4.96 97.54). This imagery that Shakespeare uses helps to show that Macbeth feels some guilt of what he did and that guilt will come back to haunt him. Even though Banquo is not physically ... When Booth was born, his mother believed the flames in the fire spelled COUNTRY, and so she believed that he would have a great effect on America. Also, as a teenager, Booth had a fortune teller predict his future. When she looked at the may crossed lines on his palms she became worried and predicted he would die young but famous. Both of these prophecies were fulfilled in Booth s life. At the White House, just days before his assassination, Lincoln had a dream. In the dream, he had died been shot and killed and was lying in a large curtained coffin in the Green Room. This too came true. In response to these occurrences, I cannot really judge whether they are true or false. I generally consider supernatural events to be unlikely, though I would not deem them impossible. Considering the specific events in the story however, I believe the word in the flames and the supposed fortune actually specifically influenced Booth s life, instead of being signs of divine future seeing. The Thought and Influence of Voltaire Essay The Thought and Influence of Voltaire I The legacy of FranГ§ois Marie Arouet, or Voltaire is not only a vast collection of writings, but also a world that has been radically and directly affected by these works and the activities of their author. While Voltaire did not create many of the ideas he professed, his success at disseminating these is unparalleled. He summed up with the most panache of anyone of his day the central issues of the Enlightenment, and rallied with the greatest fervour to see his beliefs tangibly realised. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cosmology Like many of the philosophes, Voltaire was a deist. He believed that, although God was not one to intervene in earthly affairs, such an entity did exist. The scientific revolution had demonstrated that the universe operated according to rational mechanics. Therefore, resembling a machine, it must have an engineer behind it.5[5] While deist theories about space and time are muddled and confusing for those of us who take modern science for granted (particularly in their dependence on the concept of God),6[6] their nascent determinism is very familiar in this age where behaviourism is so popular. Mired in Newtonian causality, Voltaire (echoing John Locke) believed that action is the effect of which the will is the cause. The cause of the will is the effect of environment. The environment is part of the clockwork universe made and wound by God.7[7] While this theory brings environment into the discussion of development of personality, it makes people into passive receptacles and cogs in machines.8[8] Voltaire s belief in God was partly pragmatic. He recognised the difficulty of maintaining an ethical system without rewards and punishments. The Christian tradition had so long used heaven and hell as motivational factors that it was hard by the 18th century to imagine morality for its own sake. While just laws would ensure just actions by the general population, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Channel Partitioning Essay In data communication, they are always striving to increase throughput, this would include allowing nodes to transmit information over a single broadcast link without interfering with each other. To achieve this, multiple access protocols coordinate the transmission. There are three classes of multiple access protocols, random access, taking turns and channel partitioning. With random access protocol, each node tries to randomly to access the complete broadcast link, without any regard to the other nodes. Taking turns protocol utilizes some type of turning mechanism, which designates which node is allowed to transmit. Channel partitioning protocol divides the channel (time slots, frequency, code) and assigns them evenly between all of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are numerous of taking turn protocols, two are polling protocol and token passing protocol. The polling protocol requires one of the node to be designated as a master node. The master polls each of the nodes in a round robin fashion. The master first sends a message to node 1, saying that it can transmit. After node 1 transmits, the master sends a message to node 2 it can transmit The master determines when a node has finished sending its frames by observing the lack of a signal on the channel. The procedure continues in this manner, with the master polling each of the nodes in a cyclic manner. (Kurose 459) An advantage of this type of protocol is it avoids collisions, since nodes are only allowed to transmit when they are given access to the channel. Disadvantage to polling, are delays, as transmitters have to wait for the poll and the centralization with the requirement for a master to conduct the polling, if it fails the entire channel becomes inoperative. Token passing protocol there is no master node, instead special purpose frame known as a token is exchanged among the nodes in some order. When a node receives a token, it holds onto the token only if it has some frames to transmit; otherwise, it immediately forwards the token to the next node. If a node does have frames to transmit when it receives the token, it sends up to a maximum number of frames and then forwards the token to the next node. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two main characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice cream parlor. This helped with my revisionof plot and main conflict because the two characters did not have enough money for the down payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob a bank in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my revision was the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed, stupid. However, my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke different. An example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example, Christopher is very goofylike Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the car, he is the one to have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank. Moreover, he is the one that starts to become serious when he fights the hostage in the bank. Although both of the characters are stupid, Christopher s characteris what keeps the guys going. Without Chris, Jerry would be clueless. We can see Jerry s characterization through his actions.
