The balancing act of family and work can be very difficult at times. At some point in
everyone s life, he or she will need to take time off of work to deal with family
matters. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 was created to help
employees find a balance between the challenging demands of work and home. This
Act allows eligible workers that require time off for personal reasons or family
emergencies up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave. During the 1992 presidential

Employees with legitimate reasons have the right to take leave without any
restraint from his or her employer. This means that an employer cannot interfere or
deny an employee of family and medical leave if that person meets the criteria. The
act grants people several rights. Upon return, these workers should have either the
same job position or one that is equivalent to their previous job. The job security
aspect of this act is a huge benefit. Workers returning from leave do not have to
worry about being replaced or fired for taking the necessary leave. Family and
medical leave can be used once each year if necessary. Group health benefits are

3.1 Overview of Recommendation for Change As mentioned throughout the
previous section, Target has a very comprehensive CSR program that covers most
areas under this field. Because of this, there is little for the company to do in
regards to starting any new divisions within their CSR efforts; therefore, I believe
it would be most beneficial to fine tune some of its programs to align with the
company s customer base more closely. Additionally, I believe some of Target s
current CSR efforts are rather broad and the company could benefit by really

The Iguala Mass Kidnapping took place on 26th September 2014 at approximately
9:30 pm. Forty three students from the Ayotzinapa Normal School, in the state of
Guerrero were travelling on buses to the city of Iguala (birth place of the Mexican
national flag). The students were on the buses to attend a political campaign
meeting, held by the Mayor of Iguala s wife. She was trying to boost her popularity
for the upcoming elections. It is believed that the Mayor s wife ordered the local
police (that she had corruption ties with) to kidnap the students and later handed them
