Shirttails Case Study
As everyday actions are shaped by individual preference, traditions are shaped by a community s
preferences over time. Activities that positively contribute to the overall happiness of a group are
often engrained in the lives of its members as reoccurring behaviors. When these activities lose
their appeal or ability to provide pleasure for the group, they are either abandoned or transformed.
Groups who choose to transform their cultural traditions do so in an attempt to rediscover pleasure
lost. Shirttails is a great example of a tradition which has been altered over time in order to fit the
dynamic desires of its founding community.
Shirttails has provided Hendrix with various types of pleasure throughout its 104 years of existence,

This freedom of sexuality and body positivity provides emotional and mental pleasure which
transcends the varied lower pleasures that the tradition itself consists of (Mill 1998, 18).
Furthermore, the joy of participating in an activity bigger than oneself provides those touched by
Shirttails with a form of elevated pleasure that is more complex than the simple sensual joy
guaranteed by the event. Harriet Taylor Mill s explanation of sensual activities resulting in higher
forms of pleasure allows us to understand the value of the expression which Shirttails allows the

But once you learned to limit yourself by taking on the opinion of an outside source, you are the
one that keeps it alive. If you have a healthy brain, whatever you think is possible for yourself or
whatever you think is not possible for yourself is now on you. Your limitations are self imposed.
Isn t It Time To QuestionYour Limitations
Most people have the habit of responding to a limiting thought or belief with automatic acceptance;
it is a mental reflex. Why? Somewhere along the way they learned from others that they were
limited in terms of who they could become or what they could do. Isn t it time to notice when you
do that and to begin to question what you learned long ago and now hold as the truth about you?
Just because you believe something now doesn t mean you have to believe it five minutes from now.
When you feel stuck or held back from something you want to change or to begin being or doing,
identify the self imposed belief that tells you you are limited in some way. Ask yourself the simple
question How do I know I can t? When your subconscious gives you the automatic answer, don t
just accept it. Keep probing. Keep the discussion going until you realize the limitation is an illusion.

How To Be Considered A Tomboy
Sports have always been a major part of my life. Since the beginning, I have always been involved
in some type of sport. I am the middle child of two boys, so i wasn t exactly girly , I was mainly
considered a tomboy. I tried gymnastics, but it just wasn t my thing, I stuck to a bat and a ball.
Growing up there wasn t a time when you wouldn t find my brothers and I, or my dad and I
outside throwing pitch. We all played baseball/softball, so it was kinda our thing just to go out and
playa gameof wiffle ball. Both of my brothers were involved in many sports, so I was always drug
along to tournaments and games. They both raced motocross, as well, so almost every weekend in
the summer was spent at the race track. I honestly hated it at the

Essay On Teacher Observation
The art of teaching is a difficult to define. The evaluation tools used by school administrators must
be counted upon to do just that, define what an excellent teacher looks like and does. Danielson
(2010) says that teaching describes not only the teaching that occurs in the classroom but also the
behind the scenes work of planning and other professional work, such as communicating with
families and participating in a professional community. The Framework for Teaching encompasses
all of these aspects and more within the teacher evaluation process.
Administrators should enter a teacher s classroom with the idea that the teacher is a terrific
teacher. Preconceived optimistic feelings are essential because the administrator wants to build
on the positive aspects of their teaching ability. Nonetheless, it is also important to keep in mind
that every teacher can improve in some area. The administrator s goal for observations should be
to build a relationship with each member of the faculty so that offers of advice and ideas on
how to improve in areas where refinement is needed can be given in a way that is comfortable
for both parties. I chose to observe someone that teaches in close proximity to me, both
personally and physically. This teacher, who will in this report called Ms. Merry, has been
teaching for over 20 years and has looped this year with her class from the first grade into the
second grade. When I first requested to complete the observation cycle with her, Ms.

In addition to finding comfortability within the systematic environment of scientific academia, my
analytically predisposed mindset became attracted to one of the most important tenants of any
scientific discipline: the priority of objectiveness. The elimination of any sort of personal biases and
emotional involvement is necessary in maintaining credibility of new scientific theories. I wasn t

Social Class And India s Social System
Social class is a division of a society based on ones social and economic status. There are those of
higher class, middle class, and lower class. However, the class a person is a part of can affect
their life in many ways they may, or may not notice. In different places, there are many varieties of
qualifications for which class one may be considered. Why do many places have contrasting types
of social classification? The evaluation of America s and India s social ranking systems gives more
insight into these questions.
Amazingly, the Caste System in India has been around for thousands of years. The caste system
places you in a social class with specific duties you must perform. Secondly, the system places you
in the social class of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second off is karma, karma is the belief that a person experiences the effects of his/her actions.
This is closely like the saying What goes around, comes around. which is how karma works. If
one does not want to upset karmic balance, they will have to live a moral life, and have to fulfill
their dharma.
The third term one must know, is samsara, which is know to some as reincarnation. Reincarnation,
or samsara, plays a big role in how the caste system has people placed in each rank, as explained
earlier. Samsara explains the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, in which karma can/will take effect.
Each time someone is reborn with a new life, they have an opportunity to achieve balance. Once
balanced is achieved, through good thoughts, and actions, they are free from the life cycle.
The fourth term, and stage in the cycle, is moksha. Moksha is a state of liberation from the cycle
of rebirth urged by the law of karma. To reach moksha, one must live a life of devotion with strong
moral principles, and no to little interest in material things. This is believed to take a great number
of rebirths to achieve. To achieve moksha, is to be reunited with God, and to be free from rebirth.
All these terms, dharma, karma, samsara, and moksha, are important to know to have greater
insight into the Hindu religion, which the caste system has basis in.
In Hinduism, another vital concept to understand

Anti-semitism Essay
For more than two thousand years anti Semitism has plagued the Jews, however, the term has only
been around for about thirty years (Strack 594). Due to the hateful accusations and of those who
did not understand their religion, Jews, as a scorned people, gradually became more exclusive and
intolerant of other religions. Because of Judaism s strict adherence to their own beliefs and
unwillingness to consider any alternatives, Muslims and Christians have scorned and persecuted
Jews.
First, the Muslim s basis for anti Judaism rests primarily on religious beliefs. Islam teaches that
Allah, the Muslim god, requires that a good Muslim pray a ritual prayer five times per day, give a

Forced out of agriculture by the discriminating land tax, many Jews...undertook an active role in
the expanding international trade and finance (Rivkin 25) because they needed a means of
making money in order to survive. However Muslim merchants were granted privileges over
others therefore the merchants who were discriminated against had to work extra hard, be extra
shrewd, and even more importantly charge interest in order to survive and get ahead. In
consequence, the Jews got stereotyped as being ruthless, money hungry, and even unethical. One
well known ethnologist Friedrich Von Hellwald says, No means are too wicked for them to use in
order to secure a material advantage. He also sums up the general hate for the Jews when he says,
We cannot do otherwise than designate the Jews the very canker from which the lands of Eastern
Europe suffer (Strack 549). To conclude, Muslims rejected the Jews for their religious beliefs and
rejection of Islam, but, further, they hated them for their roles in the merchant world.
Like the Muslims the Christians persecuted the Jews for not conforming Christianity, but even
more so because they blamed the Jews for the death of their savior Jesus Christ. Because of this
prejudice, the Jews were blamed for causing the troubles of society (Levanon 559). In other words,
so scorned were the Jews that they became scapegoats

The And Substance Abuse By Paula Dominguez
Introduction Paula Dominguez is a 45 year old bilingual Hispanic female. She is a single mother
of three, but all of her kids where removed from her care due to general neglect and no provision
of support. She has a history with addiction, which led to a past incarceration, but is currently in
treatment for her alcohol and substance abuse. She currently only has supervised visits with her
eldest son, Alex, but is requesting unsupervised visits and reunification services for him. Alex is
16 has a PPLA and is currently in a group home. He was molested by his stepdad when he was 10,
which subsequently led to Alex later molesting his younger brother, Jesus. Jesus is 9 and is
currently living with his younger brother Seth, who is 7 years old, and their grandmother, Carmen
Rodriguez, in Legal Guardianship. Carmen was considering adopting both of the younger boys, but
has recently changed her mind due to her inability to handle the boy s escalating behavioral
problems. There are many factors which are contributing to the familys need for intervention
services, such as mental and behavioral health diagnosis, substance abuse, and a history of abuse
and neglect. Alternatively, there are many strengths and protective factors this family possesses,
such as a desire to remain unified as a family, active participation in individual and family
counseling, and involvement in extracurricular activities, that the family can use to mitigate
existing problems.

Figure 1: The wide candle burning during the experiment
Introduction: This experiment aims to discuss whether the thickness of a candle influences the time
of burning. A candle burns by melting the waxnear the wick. This liquid wax is then drawn up the
wick by capillary action. The heat of the flame then vaporises the wax. Previous results showed that
wider candles burnt slower than thinner candles.
Aim: The aim of this experiment was to find out whether the thickness of a candle has an effect on
the time taken for it to burn down.

Impact Of Hunting On Tropical Forests
In the article Impacts of Hunting on Tropical Forests in Southeast Asia, by Harrison and others, the
authors examine how a wide variety of factors have influenced hunting practices in Southeast Asia
and led to a rapid decline in animal populations in the region. According to the criteria outlined by
Clark, the problem in this article is well defined: the practices employed by hunters are
unsustainable and indiscriminate, destroying large numbers of vulnerable and rare animal species.
Solutions must be found to protect these species while also respecting the cultural rights of those to
hunt.
Hunting in Southeast Asia is largely an informal, indiscriminate activity that is often undertaken by
amateurs. Hunters often venture out without a specific quarry in mind or hunting may be
incidental to other activities...Indiscriminate methods, such as snares and gum traps (for birds), are
commonplace, and even hunters with shotguns frequently shoot smaller quarry. (Harrison, 2016,
Pg. 975)
Because little emphasis is placed on selecting certain species, rare and endangered species often fall
victim to non selective hunting methods, but certain species can be purposefully targeted as well.
...the highest value items, such as elephant ivory, rhinoceros horn, tiger bones, turtles, and pangolin,
are inevitably traded illegally to Vietnam or China... Indeed, the killing of a rare animal is
sometimes celebrated because of its rarity (Harrison, 2016, Pg. 975).

Comparing The Works Of Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm
It is safe to say that you are the sort of individual who makes the best choice and makes a move

giving people what they deserve. In the folktale ВЁFrau HolleВЁ by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
the author compares and contrast the characteristics and personalities of two sisters. This

proceed to attainment. A person who fails them will not be able to attain, as her own shortcomings
will get the better of her. This industrious girl will reach her attainment later in the story,
unfortunately her step sister falls short. The tale of Mother Holle speaks as much about character
as about attainment. The beautiful girl s initiation was by invitation. The ugly girl tried to gain it

James Hutton Biography
During the Scottish Enlightenment, a period of increased intellectual activity in the 18th and early
19th century, individuals tended to explore multiple disciplines of study (Young). One prominent
Scottish Enlightenment figure was James Hutton (1726 1797), who worked as a lawyer, geologist,
chemist, physician, farmer, and naturalist during his lifetime. Hutton, along with other significant
Enlightenment figures, Joseph Black and Adam Smith, founded the Oyster Club. This intellectual
club was based in Edinburgh and supplied a situation where a plethora of ideas from various topics
could be discussed (Furniss).

Hutton s discoveries contrasted with the widely accepted geological interpretations that were
primarily based upon the Bible. The majority of people in his time explained the formation of all
rocks through the biblical account of the great flood. Evidence comes from the narrative presented
in Genesis in which God proclaims I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life
under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish
(New International Version, Gen. 6.17). From this account, it is interpreted that all rocks formed
when minerals precipitated out of the oceanic waters flooding Earth and were then redeposited to
form sedimentary rocks. In addition to explaining the formation of rocks, the Bible was further
referenced as evidence to calculate the age of Earth by Archbishop James Ussher in the 17th
century (Broadie, an Anthology). Ussher published in The Annals of the World, a document
containing the world s history from creation to 70 A.D., stating:
The difficulties of the Chronologers, perplexed by that love of contention, so termed by Basil,
being at last overpassed, I incline to this opinion, that from the evening ushering in the first day of

Honesty In The End
Everything will be okay in the end. If it s not okay, it s not the End. John Lennon The Quote
above says that everything will be fine at the right time or when someone has been fulfil his
goals in life. Like stories in the books or movies it only end when the character resolve all the
problems his been facing all the time. But when the story add another problem it means that the
story is not yet been done and should be continue until it find its way to be done. It also means
like whatever happens in your life, don t give up until you can reach your goal. Don t stop even
you fail after all it s not yet the end. As we grow older there are lot of things happens in our life,
there are lot of problem that challenge us to see how far can we go, how long can we endure it.
In this quote tells us that no matter what happens we should stand still and continue what we
started to do. Sometimes we fail but it s not mean that we should give up it means that it s not yet

Research Paper On Trail Of Tears
Research paper:Trail of Tears
The Trail of tears is something that very well embodies the injustices that native americans have
long faced in our country. They have often been treated as less than or as though they are not
worthy of the same rights that many. We have systematically pushed under the proverbial rug
the injustices that this people group has faced for many generations. It is not hard to see what
these injustices are if you just take a moment to take a deeper look at the history of a people rich
with culture and often times despair. The goal of this paper is to take the reader on a journey to
see one of the most horrible and unfair things that a group of people has ever faced. It was in

Stephen Crane was one of America s most influential nineteenth century writers of realism. He was
credited for being a novelist, short story writer, poet, and journalist. He was born on November 1,

In this novel, he used vivid imaginary to explain what happened to a handful of men against the

he set out for the Greco Turkish War. He wanted to be a firsthand writer, to make his writings

How Is Harry Potter Related To Religion
The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on
the inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many layered thing.
(Severus Snape, Book five.) The book series entitled Harry Potter has Biblical themes hidden
beneath all of the spells, charms, and enchantments. Harry Potter, in my own opinion, is very Christ
like and I feel like the book series could be looked at like a modernized version of the bible. He
resembles Jesus Christ in multiple ways. J.K Rowling has subtly featured religious symbolism in
her books such as, Harry dying for the wizarding world much like Jesus died willingly for our sins.

throughout his school years, has to obliviate her parents minds because she doesn t want them
getting hurt. Her mother and father are both muggles, therefore Voldemort would find them and
murder them. Ronald Weasley, Harry s other sidekick, sacrifices himself in a game of Wizard s
Chess for Hermione and Harry in their first year at Hogwarts. Dobby the house elf, who has saved
Harry s life on many occasion, sacrificed his life to save Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna Lovegood
and Mr. Olivander out of pure love and friendship. Harry s mother and father, Lily and James
Potter, sacrificed their selves for their only son just like Jesus Christ sacrificed his body for us and
he sacrificed his life on earth for us. Both Harry and Jesus did such a selfless thing for the people
they loved and cared for.

Theme Of Nobility In Julius Caesar
The Noblest of Rome
How could one determine whether a man is noble or not? How could one judge the extent of
someone s nobility? Throughout history, there are plenty of stories where the nobility of men have
been tested. William Shakespeare is known for writing stories where the nobility of men is heavily
tested. In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, there are plenty of men who love Rome and would do
anything for the goodness of Rome. Caesar was willing to give up lots of his money for the
Roman citizens. Brutus killed his best friend because he felt that he was doing good for

out to be behind the plot to assassinate Caesar, Antony views him as a noble man.
Antony sees when someone s intentions are good, even if they have a bad plan of action. Antony is
able to recognize nobility in men even if they have committed treacherous deeds.
Antony shows his nobility by avenging the death of Caesar, staying loyal to Caesar all the time,
and being able to recognize the nobility within a man, even if he is his enemy. Antony is able to

Integrated Science
Integrated Science Energy in a system may be transformed so that it resides in a different state.
Energy in many states may be used to do many varieties of physical work. Energy may be used in
natural processes or machines, or else to provide some service to society (such as heat, light, or
motion). For example, an internal combustion engine converts the potential chemical energy in
gasoline and oxygen into heat, which is then transformed into the propulsive energy (kinetic
energy that moves a vehicle). A solar cell converts solar radiation into electrical energy that can
then be used to light a bulb or power a computer. In the modern world we use energy for anything

The oil development is really advanced because we use it to power cars, trains, airplanes and we
make lots of household products with it. While oil is our main sources of energy, the world
reserve of oil is running extremely low. The big companies needs to develop other ways to
provide energy to the world population and to use other materials than plastic and other oil
based products. Solar and wind energy are two popular alternative energy to fossil fuels.
Personally I really like the solar energy source of energy because its free, clean and anybody can
used it, But the only problem with solar energy is the development of saving it is very slow and
not really reliable. Some houses in Florida use solar energy but it s not 100 % efficient because
they still have to rely on the electric company or gas powered generator to recharge batteries.
Developing solar energy to be more efficient and cheaper lots of developing countries will have
an easier and faster way to provide electricity. Wind technology is another clean and safe way to
power homes, cities, countries. Wind technology is not available as solar technology but they
need to make it more available to people and if they want to go away from coal and oil they need to
develop it more to provide a clean and safer way to provide electricity to the mass

Patagonia Another Way of Doing Business
1Introduction Patagonia was founded in 1957 by Yvon Chouinard who defines himself as a
reluctant business man. He started his business as a way to climb and surf year long, seeking to
build the best product to satisfy his passion. Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use
business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis. Patagonia s Mission
Statement Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Alpinism remains
at the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing as well as for skiing,

Today with the Common Threads Initiative they are pursuing the exact same philosophy and
trying to push the industry to adopt more ethical business behaviors. Patagonia s highly public
search for a new way of doing business implies a new kind of relationship with customers,
reinforced by unconditional guarantees, extremely high product quality and an explicit
commitment to ethical codes of behavior (Reinhardt, 2000). For Yvon Chouinard Patagonia is a
business experiment, one of his goals is to run the company so it s here 100 years from now and
always makes the best quality products. Yet he finds that concern for quality and sustainability
doesn t pose a conflict with running a highly successful business. Every time we do the right
thing, our profits go up (Chouinard, 2005). Patagonia is the perfect example of successful
business with high ethics standard, it has led the company to enjoy an unrivaled reputation among
outdoor aficionados, and its green philosophy is gaining broader appeal as more people embrace
sustainable consumption. 6References Chouinard, Y. (2005). Let My People Go Surfing: The

Taking a Look at Lutheranism
If you don t believe in God, you had better hope your right! All religions basically believe in one
God. Lutheranism is no exception, and as it just so happens it is very close to the Catholic religion
I practice. This paper will attempt to explain the Lutheran Church and how it came to be.
Martin Luther, a German monk, known to many as the Father of Reformation did not initially or
intentionally, start the Lutheran religion. However, his teachings became the cornerstone of what
is known today as the Lutheran Religion. Marting Luther was born in Germany in 1483, became a

and as his ideas of reform became more and more popular, the Pope threatened Luther to stop or
face excommunication. Martin did not conform and in 1521 Martin was excommunicated by the
Pope. Hence the beginning of the Lutheran Religion. In the beginning people did not initially want

Compare Candide And Tartuffe
The period, known as the Age of Enlightenment or The Enlightenment Period, began in the late
seventeenth century. It was a time of great turmoil and intellectual movements that ultimately led to
the beginning of the French Revolution. Enlightenment thinkers were the ones who encouraged and
proposed that we rely on and trust our instincts for decision making along with the actions that
make. Many Enlightenment thinkers, such as Moliere and Voltaire, were famous for their works.
They were two writers that used a very particular approach to their works. Tartuffe, by Moliere, and
Candide, by Voltaire, both addressed similar topics and themes such as satire for example. Tartuffe
and Candide satirized religious hypocrisy emphasizing on free thinking and reason.
Jean Baptiste Moliere, who was originally named Jean Baptiste Poquelin, was one of the greatest
and well known comic dramatists. He was known as one of the greatest and famous comic
writers mainly because his works challenged the imprudence of trusting reason for different life
events. One of Moliere s most famous works includes Tartuffe primarily for the amount of
controversy it sparked related to satire. Tartuffe is a play that tells about a man named Orgon,
who is a wealthy family man, who takes a stranger into his home named Tartuffe. He later indeed
is discovered to be a religious hypocrite. He doesn t have any morals or indeed values religion.
Tartuffe simply used religion as a disguise to manipulate people and do his crimes. He pretends to
be extremely religious, but from his actions and behavior, it goes entirely against the morals of
religion. For example, when Tartuffe sees Dorine in Act 3, Scene 2, he tells her:
Cover your bust. The flesh is weak Souls are forever damaged by such sights, When sinful thoughts
begin their evil flights.
From this scene, there is clear evidence showing how Tartuffe is a hypocrite. Here, he preaches
about the importance of chastity; however, in the scene that follows, he goes against this statement
when he tries to pursue Elmire. Tartuffe tries to persuade Elmire to cheat on Orgon, but she comes
up with a plan to expose Tartuffe s true personality to Orgon as well as to show him how Tartuffe
was trying

square roots, and the measurement of area and length. All of these allowed the solution of linear

made predictions of when an astronomical event will occur.
Egyptians: 1 Used math to solve practical problems (measuring time, the annual Nile flooding,
calculating area of land, bookkeeping, accounting, calculating taxes). 2 Introduced Approximation
by giving the approximate area of a circle. 3 Introduced the base 10 counting system they used for
measuring time, flood, areas and records.
Greeks: used math for music, made Pythagorean theorem, Euclidean algorithm, latitude and

Hyperspectral Image Classification
Classification is a principle technique in hyperspectral images (HSI) analysis, where a label is
assigned to each pixel based on its characteristics. Applying machine learning techniques to these
datasets need special consideration, since the hyperspectral images are typically represented by
features vectors of extremely high dimensions. A robust HSI classification requires a prudent
combination of deep feature extractor and powerful classifier. In the last one decade, extensive
classification methods are designed in hyperspectral objects, but these approaches prone to learn the
correlated features, and usually fail to consider the structural information in the feature space. Most
of CNN methods extract image features at the last layer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keywords: High dimensionality, Hyperspectral image, classification, deep learning, feature
extraction, Introduction In the last decade, hyperspectral image (HSI) classification has been a
very active research discipline. Hyperspectral image contains ultra high dimensional data with
hundreds spectral channels, which leads to highly correlated features and the noises that presented
in adjacent bands. However, the classification results are affected by these redundant and
correlated features. Therefore, in processing hyperspectral images, the classification approaches
has been proposed jointly by dimensionality reduction. Several feature extraction methods (see
Section 2) have been developed to solve the classification problem in hyperspectral images.
Feature extraction based on HSI aims to reduce the dimensionality of the data while preserving the
discriminative information (spectral spatial information) as possible. However, there is no
universal feature extraction which perform well in all type of application and thus, it remain an
active research area in advancing HSI analysis for the foreseeable future. Moreover the complexity,
diversity, dimensionality and quantity of HSI are all increasing day by day and thus, the existing
learning tasks are computationally inapplicable and incompetent for analyzing and modeling the
HSI data [9]. There are several challenges in the hyperspectral data classification: (1) ultra high
dimensionality of data, (2) limited

Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Essay
For centuries immigrants have left their homes and have journeyed to the United States in pursuit
to live out the American Dream , an idea that the U.S. will provide people with a better life.
However, this better life was not just given upon arrival, immigrants were not told the horrid
experiences, and backbreaking hour, they would face in search for a better life. There is no better
representation of this than Upton Sinclairs The Jungle, this book is a very accurate representation of
the life of the vast majority of people within the United States. During the time when this book was
written there were few jobs, and the jobs that were obtainable were mostly factory jobs with
horrible conditions that entailed excruciating hours. Aside from the dangerous conditions, the pay
was next to nothing making it near impossible to afford food and shelter, let alone providing for a
family. Immigrants quickly found out that the American Dream was not the glorified vision that
they thought, rather more like the song Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses . After
examining the lyrics, you can tell the similarities Axl Rose and the rest of Guns N Roses were
facing as they tried to make it in the music industry. In the jungle, welcome to jungle, watch it

towards autocracy or if it is merely the illusion of autocracy. In its place, some have proposed
that an oligarchy ruled by consensus. The relationship between the Tsar and the Boyars is the
subject of much debate and varied based on the time in history and the personality of the Tsar.
However, in general, the trend is towards autocracy. There are a few reasons for this. The first is
that the importance of the Boyars is often overstated in relation to the political power of the Tsar.
The second is that the policies, as much in fact as in law, are by and large determined by the Tsar.
The final reason for the trend towards autocracy, is the all encompassing... Show more content on

According to Orthodox theology, there could be no Christian church without a secular power to
protect it and enforce its teachings; there had to be a Third Rome with its own emperor. After
Constantinople was conquered in 1453, Russia remained the only rightful claimant of the title
of Third Rome . In the culture of Russia at the time the best way to build a reputation was to be a
pious Orthodox man. The Tsar was not only deeply entwined with the practice and leadership of
the Orthodox Church in Russia; he also embodied its social and political influence. The Tsar was
able to claim that his right to rule was divine because the church was both influential and in favor
of a strong ruler who professed the Orthodox Faith. While there were many different religions
present in Russia, it was truly the Orthodox Church that was the most influential and widely
accepted in elite circles. What does this mean in regard to the relationship between the Tsar and
the Boyars? The Tsar was able to justify his decisions on a religious basis, which was acceptable
to most Russians, without having to have the consensus of the Boyars. Again, while the Boyars put
forth their advice or dissent, the Tsar exercised relatively unrestrained power as an executive and as
a legislator in Russia. Byzantine dogma represented politics as the responsibility of the rulers and
this facilitated the

Edward Jenner Research Paper
Edward Jenner was an English physician and scientist that made a monumental endowment for
medicine; the smallpox vaccine. Jenner, the Father of Immunology, was born May 1749 in
Berkeley, Gloucestershire. He received most of his schooling from Wotton under Edge and

health. Jenner was apprenticed at the age of 14 for 7 years from which he obtained most of the
experience he required to become a surgeon. Smallpox is provoked by the virus variola. It

Zinedine Yazid Zidane VS Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima Being the world s most popular sport,
soccer; commonly known as football, is not only a portion of peoples culture, but a way of life.
Meaning that it emotionally connects people together through games by creating a sense of
community for all fans around the world, regardless of what teams they support. However, all of
this would have been nonviable without the contribution of such players as ZinedinYazid Zidane
and Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima. They are two of the most astounding soccer players of all time
not only because of their championships, competitiveness or greatness, but also because of the fact
that they responded to the responsibility of being global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have had astonishing careers and will forever be reminisced as some of the finest
inspirational figures in the culture of football. Indeed they are both the Michael Jordans of the
soccer community. The world of football would never be the same without their marvelous
contributions to the sport. That being said, the final decision goes to Zidane, this is simply
because of his triumphs. These reasons being that he was voted the preeminent player of the past 5
decades, named on the World Cup dream team, as well as his induction into Goal s hall of fame.
All of these triumphs and successes automatically outweigh the majority of Nazario de Lima s
accomplishments. Zidane s prosperity will forever be an inspiration to both current and the future
generation s soccer players. Considering the fact that many people base their arguments on
insufficient facts, this detailed information will provide them a clear comprehension of why Zidane
is the better player thus ending the ongoing

Cultural Values In Sports
Sports are an essential aspect of American society; they are indispensable when it comes to their
impact in many public areas, including economics and the mass media. Sport coincides with
community values and political agencies, as it attempts to define the morals and ethics attributed
not only to athletes, but the totality of society. Fans of spectator sports find a reaffirmation of key
societal values through sports, as they give meaning to their own lives. By becoming fans,
spectators engage in certain kinds of pleasures, fulfilling their own desires... writes Brummett (21).
The world of sports allows us the opportunity to gain vital insight into the sensitive issues of racism,
sexism, and classism, but the implications of the attention we give them are alarming.
Delaney writes, to ignore sports is to ignore a significant aspect of any society and its culture (7),
continuing to note, sport is the opiate of the masses, because we are in the age of the sport
consumer, which is dissimilar to the age of the sport spectator (14). By placing a value on a specific
athlete, you are not only defining that athlete based on their attributes, you are giving them a
specific worth which ultimately translates into the worth of that specific sport, which is why we
unjustly deem certain sports more imperative than others. The integration of sports into American
culture is something that we, as both fans and consumers, rely on to provide us with not only a
means of entertainment, but

The Role of Women in DoyleВґs A Scandal in Bohemia Essay
Doyle s A Scandal in Bohemia follows the story of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes on his
adventures to retrieve a disgraceful photograph of Irene Adler and the King of Bohemia. The king,
now engaged to a different woman, is fearful that Adler may use the photo as blackmail. In A
Scandal in Bohemia, the apparent role of women is minuscule. The only female emphasis is on one
woman, who is the object of Holmes detective inquiries. In A Scandal in Bohemia, society places
women at a subordinate level, pushing them to the background and therefore never allowing the
reader to fully understand their character. Watson describes women as second class citizens at the
start of the story without directly saying so. Watson comments: My own... Show more content on

The King also fears the revelation of the scandalous photograph simply because it lies in the hands
of a woman. His interests to dominate this woman, Irene Adler, are evident in the callous actions
the King directs towards her. The King states, Five attempts have been made. Twice burglars in
my pay ransacked her house. Once we diverted her luggage when she traveled. Twice she has
been waylaid. There has been no result (218). This disdain and oblivion towards Adler s privacy
leads one to reassess the King s motives. Is he actually interested in the photograph or do his
actions focus solely on hurting Irene Adler? The King wants the upper hand on this beautiful, yet
extremely intelligent woman. The King s attitude towards his future wife and his former lover,
Irene Adler, fits into society s narrowly defined roles of women. In British Victorian society,
women were the nurtures and the protectors of the children, and what some deemed as only
monetarily valuable items. This female instinct to nurture is one stereotype that is greatly reflected
in the personality of Irene Adler. Adler s willingness to help is a quality that Watson, as well as
other men in society, felt all women should possess. Watson acknowledges this nurturing tendency
when he says, but I know that I never felt more heartily ashamed of myself when I saw the
beautiful creature against which I was conspiring, or the grace and kindliness with which she

Respiratory Therapy Essay
The Path of Respiratory Therapy Introduction About a year ago, I came home from work one
night and walked into the kitchen to where my mother was standing. There was a feeling of
uneasiness and the panic began to clench my stomach. She looked so sad, so stressed; maybe it
was the frizzy hair, the bags beneath her eyes, the way her back slouched in a low negative
curve, or her eyes. Her eyes looked at me before she turned them away, but in that fragment of a
second, it s almost like I could look inside her narrow eyes and search until I would come upon this
thing. This thing has no name, but it scares her. She wouldn t exactly explain to me what it was but
I felt the sudden movements of uncertainty with the way she shifted her body and... Show more

Whether working here or in a different state, hospitals are always in need of medical help. As
people become elderly, it is essential for them to breathe to stay alive; that is where the necessity of
respiratory therapists comes in. Job Description Respiratory therapists eat, sleep, and work mainly
in hospitals. It is common to work in nursing homes or even travel to patients homes. From the time
babies are born to the adults reaching old age, they assist anyone who has breathing difficulties.
Typically, RT s interview/examine patients, perform diagnostic tests, treat patients, monitor/record
the progress of treatment and teach patients how to use treatments ( Occupational Outlook

catching bugs that can put their health in more danger. Though the salary ranges from state to
state, Indiana s respiratory therapists are able to make around $50,000 a year ( Occupational
Outlook Handbook ). Depending on the shifts that are worked, therapists can make a bit more by
working on holidays and even night shifts since hospitals are always open. Qualifications The more
education experienced, the greater chance applicants will successfully obtain the job of a

My Time At Plateau Asset Management
Lessons Learned/ Anomalies: Although many analyst internship positions are individually focused,
I found my time at Plateau Asset Management to be more team focused. Therefore, I learned many
lessons regarding team work and communication. Speaking Fast: In the initial Friday group
meetings I found myself never allowing the other analysts to digest the material that I was explain.
Musa pointed this out to me half way through the internship and told me slow down and ask
questions to make sure your listeners understand what you are explaining. This became important
when I began to mentor new inters because it was necessary that they retained the information that
I was explaining during our time together. Listening: Musa believed that I was a good listening,
however that I could improve. Musa stated, Always listen to respond , when listening to respond
you absorb what the speaker is saying before responding. Working as a Minority: The fact that I
was a minority in the team of 5 analysts did not come to my attention until the end of my internship
period. Musa and I found this strange because a vast majority of the financial industry is Caucasian
males, however even though this internship is in financial industry I was the only white Caucasian
male intern; we furthered our study and found out that I was the only white Caucasian male to even
apply for the position. We thought maybe this was because the internship was virtual. Section 3.

Linked Genetics
Genes located on the same chromosome are linked. They can become unlinked, or separated, in
crossing over with the frequency of separation being higher the further apart the genes are on the
chromosome. The relationship between the frequency of genes separation due to crossing over
and the distance between genes is inversely proportional. That is the further the genes are away
from each other the more likely they will cross over. The frequency of crossing over, also known
as the recombinant frequency, is directly related to the distance between genes, because the farther
apart two genes are, the more likely a crossover is to form somewhere between them. Geneticists
can utilize this to map chromosomes by doing test crosses for linked genes.... Show more content on

sometimes people are A B C or A B C . But virtually no one is A B C. So to get the A B C genotype,

Wizard Of Oz Comparison
The World is not a perfect place where everything is solved in 2 hours. With entertainment like
movies or tv we are allowed to have a escape. For two hours you can be or explore anywhere or
anything. The use of a happier way of life makes it easier for us to deal with the sadness in the
world. Sometimes reality is other rated and rose colored glasses can do one better rather than
knowing what s behind the curtain.
In the real world we are forced to deal with pain, sadness, and death. Everyday these are things that
we must endure on a regular basis. The joy of movies and television allows us to escape these
things. We no longer have to deal with the harshness of reality. It lets us imagine what life could be

It s like in the wizard of Oz, one would never prefer the depressing world of grey over the beauty
and magic of the colored world. Dorothy is able to escape her grey and dreary life for a world of
color, magic, and adventure. That is the thing people want to encounter, not the sadness of reality.
The beauty of entertainment is that it gets us to shed the shackles of reality. You can do anything
or be anyone. Wizard of Oz is the perfect example. Dorothy lives in a bland, grey and dreary
existence. Then she gets to encounter the world of Oz filled with creative characters, heroics, and
magic. She gets to become something she never could have in her own world, a hero. That is the
joy of it, to become something that they never thought they could become.
Does the entertainment industry pain the world in a bright light as to not remind people of
society s issues? I d tend to believe so. The real world can be harsh, filled with pain and regrets. For
two hours, or however long it is, we can escape that harsh reality and view the world in a new and
brighter light. Some times all we want to do is be Dorothy Gale who gets to leave her grey and
saddened life in Kansas. Sometimes we merely wish to travel over the rainbow way up high, and
experience it s

  • 2. Shirttails Case Study As everyday actions are shaped by individual preference, traditions are shaped by a community s preferences over time. Activities that positively contribute to the overall happiness of a group are often engrained in the lives of its members as reoccurring behaviors. When these activities lose their appeal or ability to provide pleasure for the group, they are either abandoned or transformed. • 5. Essay On Teacher Observation The art of teaching is a difficult to define. The evaluation tools used by school administrators must be counted upon to do just that, define what an excellent teacher looks like and does. Danielson (2010) says that teaching describes not only the teaching that occurs in the classroom but also the behind the scenes work of planning and other professional work, such as communicating with families and participating in a professional community. The Framework for Teaching encompasses all of these aspects and more within the teacher evaluation process. Administrators should enter a teacher s classroom with the idea that the teacher is a terrific teacher. Preconceived optimistic feelings are essential because the administrator wants to build on the positive aspects of their teaching ability. Nonetheless, it is also important to keep in mind that every teacher can improve in some area. The administrator s goal for observations should be to build a relationship with each member of the faculty so that offers of advice and ideas on how to improve in areas where refinement is needed can be given in a way that is comfortable for both parties. I chose to observe someone that teaches in close proximity to me, both personally and physically. Reincarnation, or samsara, plays a big role in how the caste system has people placed in each rank, as explained earlier. Samsara explains the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, in which karma can/will take effect. Each time someone is reborn with a new life, they have an opportunity to achieve balance. Once balanced is achieved, through good thoughts, and actions, they are free from the life cycle. The fourth term, and stage in the cycle, is moksha. • 29. Compare Candide And Tartuffe The period, known as the Age of Enlightenment or The Enlightenment Period, began in the late seventeenth century. It was a time of great turmoil and intellectual movements that ultimately led to the beginning of the French Revolution. Enlightenment thinkers were the ones who encouraged and proposed that we rely on and trust our instincts for decision making along with the actions that make. Many Enlightenment thinkers, such as Moliere and Voltaire, were famous for their works. They were two writers that used a very particular approach to their works. Tartuffe, by Moliere, and Candide, by Voltaire, both addressed similar topics and themes such as satire for example. Tartuffe and Candide satirized religious hypocrisy emphasizing on free thinking and reason. Jean Baptiste Moliere, who was originally named Jean Baptiste Poquelin, was one of the greatest and well known comic dramatists. He was known as one of the greatest and famous comic writers mainly because his works challenged the imprudence of trusting reason for different life events. One of Moliere s most famous works includes Tartuffe primarily for the amount of controversy it sparked related to satire. Tartuffe is a play that tells about a man named Orgon, who is a wealthy family man, who takes a stranger into his home named Tartuffe. He later indeed is discovered to be a religious hypocrite. He doesn t have any morals or indeed values religion. Tartuffe simply used religion as a disguise to manipulate people and do his crimes. He pretends to be extremely religious, but from his actions and behavior, it goes entirely against the morals of religion. For example, when Tartuffe sees Dorine in Act 3, Scene 2, he tells her: Cover your bust. The flesh is weak Souls are forever damaged by such sights, When sinful thoughts begin their evil flights. From this scene, there is clear evidence showing how Tartuffe is a hypocrite. Here, he preaches about the importance of chastity; however, in the scene that follows, he goes against this statement when he tries to pursue Elmire. Tartuffe tries to persuade Elmire to cheat on Orgon, but she comes up with a plan to expose Tartuffe s true personality to Orgon as well as to show him how Tartuffe was trying ... A robust HSI classification requires a prudent combination of deep feature extractor and powerful classifier. Keywords: High dimensionality, Hyperspectral image, classification, deep learning, feature extraction, Introduction In the last decade, hyperspectral image (HSI) classification has been a very active research discipline. Hyperspectral image contains ultra high dimensional data with hundreds spectral channels, which leads to highly correlated features and the noises that presented in adjacent bands. However, the classification results are affected by these redundant and correlated features. Therefore, in processing hyperspectral images, the classification approaches has been proposed jointly by dimensionality reduction. Several feature extraction methods (see Section 2) have been developed to solve the classification problem in hyperspectral images. Feature extraction based on HSI aims to reduce the dimensionality of the data while preserving the discriminative information (spectral spatial information) as possible. However, there is no universal feature extraction which perform well in all type of application and thus, it remain an active research area in advancing HSI analysis for the foreseeable future. Moreover the complexity, diversity, dimensionality and quantity of HSI are all increasing day by day and thus, the existing learning tasks are computationally inapplicable and incompetent for analyzing and modeling the HSI data [9]. • 48. Cultural Values In Sports Sports are an essential aspect of American society; they are indispensable when it comes to their impact in many public areas, including economics and the mass media. Sport coincides with community values and political agencies, as it attempts to define the morals and ethics attributed not only to athletes, but the totality of society. Fans of spectator sports find a reaffirmation of key societal values through sports, as they give meaning to their own lives. By becoming fans, spectators engage in certain kinds of pleasures, fulfilling their own desires... writes Brummett (21). The world of sports allows us the opportunity to gain vital insight into the sensitive issues of racism, sexism, and classism, but the implications of the attention we give them are alarming. Delaney writes, to ignore sports is to ignore a significant aspect of any society and its culture (7), continuing to note, sport is the opiate of the masses, because we are in the age of the sport consumer, which is dissimilar to the age of the sport spectator (14). By placing a value on a specific athlete, you are not only defining that athlete based on their attributes, you are giving them a specific worth which ultimately translates into the worth of that specific sport, which is why we unjustly deem certain sports more imperative than others. The integration of sports into American culture is something that we, as both fans and consumers, rely on to provide us with not only a means of entertainment, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Role of Women in DoyleВґs A Scandal in Bohemia Essay Doyle s A Scandal in Bohemia follows the story of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes on his adventures to retrieve a disgraceful photograph of Irene Adler and the King of Bohemia. The king, now engaged to a different woman, is fearful that Adler may use the photo as blackmail. In A Scandal in Bohemia, the apparent role of women is minuscule. The only female emphasis is on one woman, who is the object of Holmes detective inquiries. In A Scandal in Bohemia, society places women at a subordinate level, pushing them to the background and therefore never allowing the reader to fully understand their character. Watson describes women as second class citizens at the start of the story without directly saying so. Watson comments: My own... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The King also fears the revelation of the scandalous photograph simply because it lies in the hands of a woman. His interests to dominate this woman, Irene Adler, are evident in the callous actions the King directs towards her. The King states, Five attempts have been made. Twice burglars in my pay ransacked her house. Once we diverted her luggage when she traveled. Twice she has been waylaid. There has been no result (218). This disdain and oblivion towards Adler s privacy leads one to reassess the King s motives. Is he actually interested in the photograph or do his actions focus solely on hurting Irene Adler? The King wants the upper hand on this beautiful, yet extremely intelligent woman. The King s attitude towards his future wife and his former lover, Irene Adler, fits into society s narrowly defined roles of women. In British Victorian society, women were the nurtures and the protectors of the children, and what some deemed as only monetarily valuable items. This female instinct to nurture is one stereotype that is greatly reflected in the personality of Irene Adler. Adler s willingness to help is a quality that Watson, as well as other men in society, felt all women should possess. Watson acknowledges this nurturing tendency when he says, but I know that I never felt more heartily ashamed of myself when I saw the beautiful creature against which I was conspiring, or the grace and kindliness with which she ... • 50. Respiratory Therapy Essay The Path of Respiratory Therapy Introduction About a year ago, I came home from work one night and walked into the kitchen to where my mother was standing. There was a feeling of uneasiness and the panic began to clench my stomach. She looked so sad, so stressed; maybe it was the frizzy hair, the bags beneath her eyes, the way her back slouched in a low negative curve, or her eyes. Her eyes looked at me before she turned them away, but in that fragment of a second, it s almost like I could look inside her narrow eyes and search until I would come upon this thing. This thing has no name, but it scares her. She wouldn t exactly explain to me what it was but I felt the sudden movements of uncertainty with the way she shifted her body and... My Time At Plateau Asset Management Lessons Learned/ Anomalies: Although many analyst internship positions are individually focused, I found my time at Plateau Asset Management to be more team focused. Therefore, I learned many lessons regarding team work and communication. Speaking Fast: In the initial Friday group meetings I found myself never allowing the other analysts to digest the material that I was explain. Musa pointed this out to me half way through the internship and told me slow down and ask questions to make sure your listeners understand what you are explaining. This became important when I began to mentor new inters because it was necessary that they retained the information that I was explaining during our time together. Listening: Musa believed that I was a good listening, however that I could improve. Musa stated, Always listen to respond , when listening to respond you absorb what the speaker is saying before responding. Working as a Minority: The fact that I was a minority in the team of 5 analysts did not come to my attention until the end of my internship period. Musa and I found this strange because a vast majority of the financial industry is Caucasian males, however even though this internship is in financial industry I was the only white Caucasian male intern; we furthered our study and found out that I was the only white Caucasian male to even apply for the position. We thought maybe this was because the internship was virtual. Section 3. Observations about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Linked Genetics Genes located on the same chromosome are linked. They can become unlinked, or separated, in crossing over with the frequency of separation being higher the further apart the genes are on the chromosome. The relationship between the frequency of genes separation due to crossing over and the distance between genes is inversely proportional. That is the further the genes are away from each other the more likely they will cross over. The frequency of crossing over, also known as the recombinant frequency, is directly related to the distance between genes, because the farther apart two genes are, the more likely a crossover is to form somewhere between them. Geneticists can utilize this to map chromosomes by doing test crosses for linked genes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
