Essay On Casa BatllГі
Casa BatllГі is a renowned building located in the center of Barcelona and is one of Antoni GaudГ
s masterpieces.
Casa BatllГі, located in the very heart of Passeig de GrГ cia.
The building that is now Casa BatllГі was built in 1877 by Emilio Sala CortГ©s, commissioned by
LluГs Sala SГЎnchez.
The house was bought by Josep BatllГі in 1900.
In 1904 Josep BatllГі Josep BatllГі hired Antoni GaudГ to remodel Casa BatllГі and to divide it
into apartments.Gaudi added a fifth floor, completely revamped the interior, depressed the roof, and
added a new facade.
The building was completed and refurbished in 1906.

Like everything GaudГ designed, it is only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the
broadest sense.

The entire facade is tiled with a mosaic composed of pieces of glass and ceramic discs, giving an
undulating surface. The final result is there for all to see: an overwhelming, evocative and
suggestive masterpiece which has been known and admired for over a century.

Typical of GaudГ, straight lines are avoided whenever possible. The first floor features irregularly
sculpted oval windows. Balconies at the lower floors have bone like pillars, those on the upper
floors look like pieces of skulls. These features gave the house the nickname House of Bones . The
enlarged windows on the first floor gave it another nickname, House of Yawns .
The house s interior is as fascinating as its exterior.
The noble floor is the former residence of the BatllГі family. Covering more than 700 square
metres, it is the main dwelling in the

Central Auditory Processing Disorder
Except for outwardly appearances, speech may be the one of the most defining elements of a
person s identity, psychologists generally consider language a prime manifestation of underlying
cognitive processes (Solso, MacLin, MacLin, 2008, p. 468). Just by listening over the phone, I can
tell whether a family member is feeling positive, in ill health, or worried about events in their lives.
Should vocal language be the only measure of underlying cognitive processes?
As a small child, it was frustrating to not be able to make the adults in my life understand me.
Many years later after development of the brainstem auditory evoked response test (BAER), a
doctor who it seemed was always on the cutting edge of his science and working with
neurologists at the old Lovelace Medical Center, tested my hearing using the BAER . For me, the
results of this test were life changing because for the first time in 28 years my not being able to
understand much of the conversation around me and consequently, my ability to communicate had
a name a diagnosis central auditory processing disorder I heard at two different speeds and both
were at a slower rate than that of the general population.
The BAER measures latency in milliseconds or in layman terms, the BAER measures the length of
time it takes for sound to travel from the ear to the brain stem (Ness, 2009). An important benefit of
the BAER is that it can be easily used for diagnosis of auditory processes in infants and young

Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye
In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many
intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form
and order of cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the
cone cells are compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered
together but, are not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central
vision the vision is clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear
vision. When someone looks around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many
things, yet so much is going on in the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they
see to create a smooth movement. This makes the brainlook at it as a motion picture. The eyes see
three dimensional to notice every side of an object. This can result in two different types of
vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is produced from both eyes. The other type is
Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different angles of an image and gives it depth. All the
different forms and and visions in the eye can create a different perception for each individual. The

Here are a few positive reasons for eyewitness testimony. One is eyewitness testimony can be used
as evidence. Another is that eyewitness testimony can influence the jury s decision. Lastly, it can
help to better understand what has happened and why. This does not mean eyewitness is the
solution to all cases. Here are a couple of negative aspects of eyewitness testimony. It depends on
the witness memory and bias opinion. Secondly, the witness could make up something due to
pressure and nervousness. Lastly, eyewitness testimony could end up convicting the wrong

If there is any performance problem, as a HR manager assistant needs to identify the causes of
problem as fast as possible and thus design suitable methods to overcome the problem to prevent the
decreasing of productivity of the company. Rather than that, he is also responsible to explain and
administer company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants.
Hence, employees are clear about the rules and regulation of company and the benefits that they are
entitled. Another duty as a HR manager assistant is to schedule examinations by coordinating
appointments. Therefore, he is saying that, he needs to schedule and make arrangement to
interview with the candidates during selection and recruitment. He has the responsibility to concern
about employees grievances and complaints. Then, he will take action to solve those particular
problems. As a HR manager assistant, he also needs to save the accurate records, including
personal information, payroll, leaves of absences, and vacation/sick request properly. According to
our finding, the keepings of accurate records are not only related to the legal requirement, but also
with the requirement to save the specific information about the employee as defined in the Basic
Conditions of Employment Act (Accurate HR records can save your business money, 2012).

Analysis Of Consider The Lobster
Consideration: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others
How do you consider the lobster? David Foster Wallace wrote the essay Consider the Lobster. After
the reading, the essay for the first time the thoughts that went through my head consisted of how the
lobsters were treated and what Wallace thought of the lobsters. The lobsters are chosen out of
usually a pot or a giant tank and then boiled to death. They are placed into a pot of boiling hot
water and the saying that the lobsters are screaming in the pot comes to be true. Some people find
it disturbing to listen to the sound while others cover the pot and not let it bother them. Also, from
the first reading I thought that Wallace was being somewhat hypocritical because I got the idea that
it was acceptable for him to eat and coo ketch lobsters but seeing it done in the setting of a
restaurant, in a larger quantity makes it worse. Gathering all this information again had made me
rethink the essay and look towards the deeper meaning. Wallace committed suicidein 2008 due to
mental illness. So, when we consider the lobster does it mean that to be considerate of it? Another
point I came to was about was mental illness and how in 2008 Wallace committed suicide. When
lobsters are chosen and boiled to eat, those people are sending them to their grave . So, what does
being considerate consist of when discussing a lobster, a dead body and the food we are about to
eat?

Summary Of Lizard By Lucius Sims
Consistently through Lucius Sims life, he is made fun of for looking different, much like how
people are bullied today. Throughout the book, Lizard, Lucius Sims is portrayed by the author,
Dennis Covington, as a mentally challenged person, and he contributes to the theme of
overcoming bullying. Because of his facial features, Lucius Sims is portrayed as a mentally
challenged kid , and is sent off to a school for boys, like him. Lucius, or better known as Lizard,
got his name, and was placed in the school he is in due to his, ...eyes more on the side of his head
than most people s and a nose that lies on its side... (Covington 6). Lizard got his name and was
placed in the mentally challenged school for boys due to how the author portrayed him, which was
as a special child. This shows that looks can change anything and everything, just by how the
author portrays them. And because the author gave Lucius the facial features he did, people
thought of Lucius to be someone he really wasn t, and Lucius was bullied because of it.... Show

bullying and says, I don t want to hear about it (Covington 60). Once Lizard finally accepts the
fact that people won t stop judging and bullying him for the way he looks, he stands up for
himself, which ultimately makes everyone leave him alone. So, by standing up for himself, Lucius

Comparison Between The Code Of Hammurabi And Hammurabi
Can rules be fair, but morally incorrect? In other words, can rules show fairness, but be unjust.
Two sets of laws in ancient history come to mind when this question arises. Those two laws are
The Code of Hammurabi and the Bible s laws. Hammurabi s legal code (The Code of Hammurabi)
was established between 1894 and 1595 B.C. (Barratt et al., 2017). The Code of Hammurabiwas a
set of 282 laws dealing with a wide variety of interactions, and an epilogue filled with curses
applying to anyone in the future who may change, efface, or subvent Hammurabi s divinely
ordained legislation (Cook 3). The Code of Hammurabi may have shown fairness to a degree, but
the Bible s early laws are more just than what King Hammurabi perceived his laws to be.... Show

For example, he states, By the command of Shamash, the great judge of heaven and earth, let
righteousness go forth in the land: by the order of Marduk, my lord let no destruction betail my
monument ( The Code of Hammurabi ).
The differences between the two laws go even deeper with the value of life. For example, if a
man strikes the daughter of another and causes miscarriage, he shall pay ten shekels (Student
Handout 2.2 Documents from Mesopotamia). With a law like that, it begs to question if
Hammurabi would pay ten shekels for the life of his own child. However, the Bible s law on the
subject brings more justice to that situation. For example, If people are fighting and hit a
pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must
be fined whatever the woman s demands and the court allows (NIV Exodus 21:22). It continues
by stating, But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise (NIV Exodus
21:22). By the difference in the two laws, The Code of Hammurabi seems like it has a class for
every walk of life.
Hammurabi seemed to have boasted a lot in his own abilities. He seemed to have created a
perception that he was the upper class of humanity. For example, he states, My words are well
considered; there is no wisdom like unto mine ( The Code of Hammurabi ). This

The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process
The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act
of unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters
Ross, 2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to
hash out labor relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations
disputes between employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy
and for the consumers. Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship
between the employees and management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The
collective bargaining process allows for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the
collective bargaining process (Sockell Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues
such as wages, employment terms and workplace conditions are required subject during the
collective bargaining negotiation process (McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the
collective bargaining process must done in good faith. Good faith means that the either side in the
process meets at a reasonable time to discuss all the mandatory and mutually agreed upon
permissive subjects. If the issue is considered permissive the employer is not required to negotiate
these issues during the bargaining process. Since the language in the law of the NLRA does
explicitly state which issues are mandatory or permissive so these issues have been

American University Law School s Campus
American University Law School s campus is beautiful; the classrooms are new, spacious, and
sometimes well lit. I was really excited to have the opportunity to sit in a real law school class
amongst unrehearsed law students, which would give me an insight into the inner workings of a
law school classroom. The experience was rewarding in more ways than one and it also reinforced
my plans to attend law school.
My expectations were unclear, as I had sat in a Torts class before, but this time I sat in a

being in the third row on the top half meant being really far away from the professor, which is

The professor began the class by telling the students a story about his grandchildren in a way to
transition into the assigned readings of the day. The students were very responsive to him and
seemed to be very comfortable since they were making jokes back and forth. It was really
relieving to see this interaction and also gave me a sense of the types of professors and students at
the Washington College of Law.
Professor Pike s teaching style involves a lecture with a visual aid. This teaching style seems to
be the most effective for me because I can see what the professor is trying to explain on a
PowerPoint. I have read and heard stories about law schools being notorious for using the Socratic
Method for classroom instruction. The idea is to encourage all students to be fully prepared with
their cases briefed ready to be called at any time. Interestingly enough, I feel like this was a form
of a revised Socratic method. The professor did call on random students by looking at his seating
chart and choosing someone and then the student had to give all of the important facts of the case,
the issue presented, and what court it was brought up in. If the student was missing a key piece of
evidence, the professor would probe further, asking more challenging questions and if the student
did not know, other students were allowed to answer. There seemed to be more opportunities to

QoE in Femtocells
Abstract: This paper reviews existing Femtocell architecture deployment options proposed by the
3GPP, highlights the increase on data consumption expected in the home environment and proposes
a simulation study to assess the achievable QoE with each one of the proposed architectures taking
into account the backhaul technologies. 1 Introduction In recent years the Mobile Network
Operators (MNOs) in UK and the rest of the world have seen an exponential increase in the data
consumption over their networks. This is due to the success of what is called Mobile Broadband

voice/video conference, where low delay and low jitter is required but some packet loss is
acceptable), streaming (e.g. TV on demand, where jitter and delay are less important),
interactive (e.g. web browsing, where a fast response is expected), and background (e.g. email
or file transfer, which as the lowest requirements). Because the femtocells will be using a non
dedicated shared (with non femto traffic) backhaul access technology (such as xDSL), the
importance of delivering QoE is greater and more complex than in the macrocell case.
Especially in the uplink as many of the fixed broadband technologies use asymmetrical link
capacities. This means that some type of SLAs will need to be in place between the owner of the
femtocell (MNO) and the owner of the backhaul access (ISP) to assure the required QoE for the
different traffic flows [5]. Depending on the implementation solution used (from the 3GPP
proposed ones) the technical difficulties to deliver an acceptable QoE will change. So although
femtocells are a very good solution for offloading data from an overloaded mobile network, if the
implementation/architecture is not correct it can affect the Quality of Experience (QoE) of the end
user, which will prompt the end user to use the macrocell. 5. Conclusion and further work To avoid
this situation, a simulation study will be carried on using as parameters: the future in home data

about school have certain types of characters such as Master Teacher, Fuddy Duddy, Troopers
and students so is this movie. All of those characters played a significant role in order to portray
the story effectively. A lot depended on the actors as well and their ability to be adapted to the
characters they were assigned to play. Hilary Swank plays Erin Gruwell, the Master teacher who

better in order to educate the students. She tried to make everyone lives easier, but that is
impossible. However, she achieved what she believed in because of her spirit and technique. She

The Beliefs Of Donald Trump And Trump Criticism
These are the NFL Players Protesting today amid Trump Criticism
Are Americans going about protesting their beliefs in the correct way? Standing during the
National Anthem has been a way Americans show respect for their country since the 1800 s,
therefore not standing is nothing short of disrespectful. Last year, former pro quarterback Colin
Kaepernick started kneeling during the National Anthem because he believed standing was social
and racial injustice and players today have followed his actions. After a statement from President
Trump on Sunday, September 24th, there has been nothing but more chaos and protests throughout
our Nation s professional football teams. All American citizens should know and understand that
protesting is perfectly acceptable but protesting and disrespecting something that is completely
irrelevant is not, there is nothing anyone can do about who the elected President is and you can t
take everything Donald Trump says seriously, but regardless of the situation, it is never acceptable
Kneel during our National Anthem. America is a country all about freedom, therefore those who
choose to protest have every right to do so but disrespecting something that has been a part of the
American tradition for over two hundred years is not the right way to go about it. Colin
Kaepernick started the trend of kneeling during the National Anthem last year and said he refuses
to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of

The Fifteenth Amendment And Women s Suffrage Movement
Introduction The Women s Suffrage Movement was a political struggle, in which women
protested and assembled to vote and run for office. The idea that women could not vote, run for
office, be represented in the workplace, nor serve on juries contradicted early ideas that the
American woman was a protector of the concepts of freedom and righteousness. The American
suffrage movement originated from the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 (history.com). At this
convention, women alongside a few men worked to write the Declaration of Sentiments, which
would start the initial idea to fight for the rights of women and provide a list of grievances in
reference to the rights of women such as: voting rights, property rights, and educational rights
(Snider 2016). However, women would not receive suffrage until the post Civil War era. Several
leaders as well as movements would have to amalgamate over the course of several decades for
the voice of women to be heard and changes to be made in accordance to law and society. The
Fifteenth Amendment and Women s Rights The concept of women s suffrage was first questioned
under the clauses of the Fifteenth Amendment. Under this amelioration, the denial of suffrage by
the states to any citizen on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude was
prohibited. However, radical Republicans did not want to handle the plank of women s suffrage as
it was feared that the goal of black enfranchisement would be delayed, as the amendment

The Integration Of The European Union
Modern culture commonly exceeds the boundaries of individual nation states through processes
such as globalisation, improvement in technologies and the rise in free trade; leading to the concept
of transnationalism (Waldinger, 2013). Transnationalism involves interactions linking people or
institutions across the borders of many nation states (Crang et al, 2003). Transnationalism is
intrinsically linked to mobility; mobility is the ongoing and continuous cross border movements in
which people develop and maintain economic, social and cultural links in more than one nation,
mobility (this sentence is too long but I m not sure how to change it so it still makes sense)
facilitates transnationalism with enables Europeanisation (Ernste, 2009).... Show more content on

As a result, integration allows Europe to increase their economic output, because as Hansen and
Jonsson (2014) argue West Europe lacks the natural resources necessary to become a viable
economic power to compete globally. The Schengen agreement of 1995 therefore facilitates trade,
transnationalism and Europeanisation because it enables workers, particularly lorry drivers, to
move easily across the continent.
Medrano (2012) argues that integration processes are difficult because of the diversity within the
EU, the rise of Euroscepticism, and the shift in the balance of power of national institutions from
domestic parliaments to a European parliament. Fligstein (2012) mentions that in 2004 only 3.9 per
cent of people who lived in Europe viewed themselves as European, this is very damning in
suggesting that the processes of EU integration have failed because no one identifies themselves as
European. Raunio (2011) also echoes this sentiment; he comments that national governments are the
gatekeepers of EU integration; however, the consistent enlargement of the EU has made this task
more difficult, leading to the conclusion that integration has resulted in the loss of control that
domestic governments have over their decisions

Advantage Of An Expert System
In the modern world, expert systems have emerged as the most important product of artificial
intelligence research. The Oxford dictionary defines an expert system as follows: A piece of
software programmed using artificial intelligence techniques. Such systems use databases of
expert knowledge to offer advice or make decisions in areas such as medical diagnosis and
trading on the stock exchange . (Oxford American dictionary)An expert system is a knowledge
based system that uses knowledge pertaining to its application domain and utilises an inference
procedure to solve problems. The power of expert systems stems primarily from the specific
knowledge about a narrow domain stored in the expert system s knowledge base. http:/

to emulate the decision making skills of a human. The advantage is that an expert system has the
potential to store vast amounts of information and therefor make better, more informed decisions
in less time and with greater accuracy than humans. Efficiency is clearly an integral part of expert
systems. The need for not only coming to the correct conclusion but also doing so in the smallest
amount of time is of utmost importance. This becomes especially true when one considers that in
the world of medicine and finance, two crucial applications of expert systems, time is very often of
critical importance. The implementation of an effective and efficient expert system will be
discussed contrasted with an inefficient system. A breakdown and analysis of the correct

Sen. Ted Cruz (R Texas) after his speech at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., on March 23,

Ted Cruz game plan is to win over young voters, and part of that strategy, he said, is to use his
sense of humor. This game plan is certainly feasible as 2 out of the last 3 president have been in
the top 5 youngest presidents throughout our entire presidential history. Old and reliable, may not

In February 2008, Foster had discovered equally shocking activities in investigations in Miami,
Chicago, Cincinnati, San Diego, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
The report from the Labor Department, mentioned that after the Boston investigation, Foster
continued to report fraud to internal sources, including several executives such as a manager
director and a vice president and at the end of 2007 she warned executives the number of fraud
incidents in subprime lending may be much higher than reported. Other findings discovered by
Foster included employees who reported or had tried to report fraud at both subprime and prime
lending units who suffered persistent retaliation (Benoit Hudson, 2011).
Blaylockon (2011) suggested that instead of accepting a payment of almost $228,000 for her
silence, Foster wanted to ensure the corrupt practices at Countrywide were exposed and that the
wrongdoers were held accountable. In September 2011, OSHA agreed that Foster had been
retaliated against in violation of the employee protection provision of the Sarbanes Oxley
Corporate and Criminal Fraud Accountability Act of 2002. The Department of Labor ordered her a
payment of $930,000 in damages, which included back wages, interest, compensatory damages and
attorney fees.

Examples Of Self Fulfilling Prophecy In Macbeth
Macbeth s Self fulfilling Prophecy Macbeth is a remarkable tragic play that was written by one of
the greatest English play writer, William Shakespeare. The story begins with The Weird Sisters who
were later encountered with Macbeth and Banquo, the main character of the play. Macbeth and
Banquo are the generals of Scotland, and when they finished the battle on their way back, the three
witchesgives out the prophecy that leads Macbeths inevitable tragedy. It was strongly believed that
the Prophecies came true because Macbeth had want and made them happen. Macbeth believes

The purpose of this paper is to use Harvard Business Managing Segments Customers marketing
simulation for Minnesota Micromotors, Inc. (MM), and develop a business to business marketing
B to B (business to business) competitive marketing strategy by analyzing target markets and
generic competitors. This exercise requires the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
Minnesota Micromotors, Inc. , to develop a competitive marketing strategy for the company by
making operational decisions based on using game theory to understand the interdependence
between the firm and its competitors (Winer Dhar, 2011, p. 151). In addition, this paper will
analyze the results based upon the marketing strategy decisions, which determines success or failure
for a particular quarter. Moreover, this paper will also provide the Standard Industrial Classification
(SIC code) for Minnesota Micromotors, Inc. (MM), and identify the limitations of the game theory
approach to understanding competitive strategy.
2013 Quarter 1 Marketing Strategy The marketing strategy for quarter 1 of 2013 is the
development of a competitive strategy which rests heavily on the notions of a game theory
approach (Winer Dhar, 2011, p. 151). Game theory is a mathematical approach of structuring likely

Aztec And Norse And Greek Mythology Similarities
When looking at the myths between various ancient cultures, distinct similarities appear between
motifs and symbols of their stories. It is often speculated why these characteristics remain
consistent despite differences in time, location, culture and beliefs. Looking at the similarities
between Greek, Aztec, and Norse mythology can perhaps shed some light on this mystery. All
three myths feature an apocalyptic event that starts a new life cycle, an element of sacrifice to
retain order, and the death and rebirth of a god. The theory of James Frazer best explains why
these similarities exist, possibly bringing a new perspective into the study of ancient mythology. To
help understand the significance of these similarities, James Frazer s theory... Show more content on

For example, the death of the agriculture god Balder signifies the beginning of Ragnarok in the
Norse story. After the series of destructive events, he returns to Earth from the underworld as it
begins its new cycle. This makes it clear that his rebirth is somewhat representative of agriculture
dying in winter and growing again in the spring, the season itself symbolic of revival. Likewise,
in the Greek myth, Persephone s rebirth happens when she leaves to the Underworld during the
winter and returns to the gods above during the spring. This is much like the vegetation cycle
mentioned previously, especially with her strong agricultural association. Finally, in the Aztec
myth, Quetzacoatl, the creator of humans, dies by burning himself out of remorse, his heart
becoming the morning sun. His death preserves the life cycle since his rebirth as the sun
becomes as a central part of growing and dying. In general, each rebirth of a god is symbolic of a
similar rebirth in nature, their deaths becoming other forms of life. Through these examples, it is
quite evident how the natural cycle of life is reflected in ancient

Hills Like White Elephants Analysis
A Life or Death Decision How difficult is it to make a decision that could potentially ruin one s
life? Ernest Hemingway s explores this question in his short story, Hills Like White Elephants. The
story is a concise conversation between an American man and a girl. The names of the characters as
well as their relationship status remain unknown. For the entirety of the short story, the characters
sit in a train station perturbed about making a decision on a potential operation of the girl. The
man and the girl go back and forth contesting what they should do about the operation. The story
ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the reader unaware of the girl s final resolution. In Hemingway s
short story, Hills Like White Elephants, his use of symbols, innuendos, and dialogue create a high
level of tension for the man and the girl which ultimately conveys the difficulty of the decision that
the couple must make together. Throughout the story, the man and the girl drink alcohol to deivert
them from dealing with their problems. Every time the couple gets closer to deciding what to do
about the operation, one of them suggests that they get another beer. In the story, the man says, I
don t want you to do anything that you don t want to do. The girl answers with Nor that isn t good
for me and the man replies Could we have another beer? (Hemingway 125). The alcohol is their
escape from reality. It calms them and helps them avoid the situation at hand. The alcohol may have

Cultural Differences In American Culture
On the topic of culture, ethnocentrism should be mindful as it refer to culturally biased judgement
of an individual s perspective of their own culture is superiors than another (Levines 2001). This is
not to be confused with racism as to be an ethnocentric often relates to how we individuals view

For a long time, houses in remote Indigenous communities have been provided with the standard

For an example, Indigenous communities have tendency of large and inconsistent of family

problematic because of not enough sleeping areas, toilets and bathrooms. Thus, the standard size

should be combined with a carrier oil that is an oil based vegetable product. Essential oils can also

Not Patentable
The fact that essential oils cannot be patented is a real shame, because large drug companies will
not spend money studying a product that they cannot patent, the many wonderful effects of
essential oils may never be truly understood. It also means that the amount of scientific studies that
are conducted on essential oils is extremely limited because researchers cannot get money to study
them. Additionally, the lack of research means that most mainstream practitioners will never

Marginal Cost Revenue
A way to determine the quantity of profit maximization is to conclude where marginal revenue
equals marginal costs. Rather than computing the profit for all levels of sales; total revenue and
total variable costs are considered. Marginal revenues and marginal costs are considered in a
similar way like marginal profit, thus defining the amount of change for all sales levels (Huter,

Pricing Non Pricing Strategies
CVS needs to think through numerous elements impacting its business. Pricing strategies, rivals

pricing strategies, CVS should consider closeouts, discounts, product bundle pricing, penetration

Underage Drinking Is Part Of The Culture Of College
By the time high school students are seniors around 70 percent of students have had alcohol and
the number will increase more as they begin college (IUPUI). With being in college one thing
that I did discover is that underage drinking is part of the culture in college, also the friends that
I had in high school who are 21 now I have discovered they drink some of the least amount now.
Which has begun to make me wonder why people who are 21 drink less than people who are
underage. I believe that when people are 21 they now do not have to worry about the next time
they can get alcohol. Congress should lower the drinking age from 21 to 18 because at age 18
when they are in college, for some students it will be the first time of it being acceptable to drink
alcohol. Most college students are putting their health at risk with binge drinking. They are not
introduced to alcohol at a younger age and drink because they do not know the next time they
will get alcohol, so they will start to binge drink drinking a high content of alcohol quickly and
dangerously. Although it may introduce alcohol to people of younger ages, it will help them
mature more quickly knowing they do not have to worry about the next time they will get
alcohol. With lowering the drinking age, it will have positive effects on the economy and society,
it will be beneficial because it will prevent younger people from binge drinking, and people are

corruption while significantly affecting the North Carolina Constitution and the Revolutionary War.
Immigrants of German, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh descent were moving to the North Carolina
backcountry that the English colonists were fleeing to from New Englandhigh land prices, which
increased the population of the area. This seemed ideal because the backcountry land was cheap

With Microsoft Access you can create a query which links tables and their relationships. This
allows for better analysis of your data, thus making Microsoft Access a powerful tool in which
to analyze critical security data. Not only can you analyze critical security data you can perform
simple calculations in queries. For example, you can calculate when an individual s next
personnel security reinvestigation is due. When you type a date into a generated form or table,
you can add a column to a query which will automatically calculate the next periodic
reinvestigation date. You can later create a form which includes the query s calculated column.
After you type in a date, the adjusted date appears automatically. With forms, you can ease the
input of data into your tables. You can set the values of each field or column, such as text,
number, date, yes or no, hyperlink, as well as other options. You can also create pull down
menus in which the user can choose an input rather than type one. This assists the database
operator by giving quick choices to fields like States and Countries. Forms also comes with input
masks, which allow for the easy input of fields like dates, phone number, social security numbers,
zip codes and the like. The form will not accept any errors input. You can also create icon driven

What Is The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time
What makes fiction novels especially interesting are the larger messages hidden within them. The
novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, by Mark Haddon does just that. The
novel centers around a 15 year old genius Christopher Boone who has a mental disability of some
sort, struggling with communication because of it. The book is comprised of a murder mystery novel
Christopher sought to write after discovering the bloody murder of his neighbor s dog, Wellington.
Gradually, the story focuses away from the main conflict and morphs into a complicated story about
Christopher s life. With that, Haddon brings out the complexity and hardships of human life,
specifically through the topic of truth and deceit. The truth comes out eventually; fabricating it now
will only prolong the unwanted effects later. Also, lies ruin relationships, possibly for good.
In trying to find out who murdered Wellington, Christopher uncovers a box containing letters from
his mother addressed to him. Prior to this incident, Christopher s father, Mr. Boone, told him that
his mother passed away due to a heart attack while in the hospital. In addition, Christopher was
unable to visit her. The date of the supposed death did not match up with the recent inscription on
the letters, indicating his father lying about her death. Mr. Boone soon finds out about Christopher
s discovery, struggling to explain the situation: I did it for your good, Christopher. Honestly, I did. I

Comparing The Bluest Eye And Bastard Out Of Carolina
The two novels The Bluest Eye and Bastard Out of Carolina touches on issues dealing with race,
class, and abuse. The two main characters in the novels, Pecola Breedlove and Ruth Anne Bone
Boatwright are completely opposite in looks, but suffer from the same trauma as a child.
Throughout this analysis, I will show how similar and different Pecola and Bone are and how
each one affects different parts of how they view themselves. Last, I will explore why child abuse
is still a problem that affects several children and how our society encourages certain behaviors
towards children that reinforces abuse. Sexual, physical, and emotional abuse does not have a
specific identity.
The most prominent difference between Pecola and Bone is their physical appearance. Pecola is
a dark skinned Black girl with curly black hair from Lorain, Ohinto. On the other hand, Bone is a
white, skinny girl with straight black hair from Greenville, South Carolina. Since both girls are

The great Babylonian tale The Epic of Gilgamesh is about Gilgamesh, the tyrannical king of
Uruk, who comes to understand his mortality through a series of trials and tribulations. Though
he is well aware of the fact that only the gods live for ever (Gilgamesh 71), he stops at nothing to
defy his destiny as a mortal being. While the Mesopotamian gods use a system of signs and
symbolic patterns to control the happenings in the living world, humans exist only to serve them
and carry out their will. The Epic of Gilgameshproves this to be true. I will argue that in The Epic,
Gilgamesh and Enkiduboth share a dependency on the divine agencies. As their dreams and
journeys are driven by external forces, we see the two heroes struggle to understand and accept the
nature of the human condition.
In the ancient world, dreams were not seen as prophecies, but more as premonitions. In The Epic
of Gilgamesh, the Mesopotamian gods convey their will to Gilgamesh and Enkidu through their
dreams. Their dreams are driven by external forces that allude to their destinies. Before the
heroes embark upon their journey to the Cedar Forest, the god[s] had [already] decreed the
destiny of Gilgamesh (70) to him in a dream. The dream is deciphered by Enkidu, who tells his
friend that the father of the gods has given [him] kingship, such is [Gilgamesh s] destiny,
everlasting life is not (70). Despite his unexampled supremacy over the people (70), the king of
Uruk is dissatisfied. As Gilgamesh

1.In light of the entire transaction as it was outlined to them by Wisconsin, did First Midwestern
provide the correct advice to their customer on how to structure the transactions? Did they appear to
be fully diligent?
First Midwestern was a well known bank and has a good relationship with Wisconsin for several
years. In my opinion the bank did not provide the correct advice to Wisconsin in structuring and
financing the transaction. One of the main reason was, because Wisconsin did not advised their
bank with all the details and negotiations happened between them and Vietnamese buyers. The
management of Wisconsin had deal with Saigon jewels, (buyers) that they will buy back the
finished polished stones and jewelry from Saigon over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also as mentioned above they were not fully aware of the side agreement of buying back the
finished polished gems by Wisconsin. Also they accepted the drafts and made full payment to the
applicant, which I suggest they shouldn t do. Because the price of the gems went down and also
the issuing bank who bought the drafts from Midwestern are unable to collect the money from the
buyers. As Wisconsin denied the side agreement with the Vietnamese buyers and there was no
clause present for that in the drafts, Midwestern cannot claim the money.
2.What risks were faced by Wisconsin when they undertook to accept the guarantee and to ship the
goods under it?
Letter of guarantee is a type of commitment from the bank on behalf of its customers (buyer) to the
third party (suppliers) and Promises to meet any financial obligations in case the customers fails to
fulfill the requirement of the contract. The risks that Wisconsin faced when they agree to accept the
letter of guarantee and ship the goods under it includes currency risk, commercial risk, risk of
nonpayment.
One of the commercial risk involved the quality of goods delivered. When the Wisconsin made
its first delivery to Saigon jewels, they indicated that not all of the jade gems received are of good
quality. So, the delivered goods did not match the expectations of buyers. The other commercial
risk Wisconsin faced was nonpayment and non delivery or delay in

Cast Away
In the movie Cast Away, Chuck Noland says that to turn ones back on time is to commit a sin. In
this movie, Chuck s life revolves around time, and his ability to make more money is directly
affected by time. This fact, however, is exactly what is related as a bad thing. Throughout the
movie, capitalistic ventures, which require an extreme investment of time, are characterized as evil.
The message sent in Cast Awayis that we live in a corrupt and morally bankrupt society which is
only concerned with the bottom line, but if we all get back to the basics and search our souls for
what really matters in life, we may have a chance of turning out okay. Chuck Noland represents the
United States in this movie, especially in the former... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Chuck Noland represents evil in the form of a taskmaster of time, his punishment is to be
sent away to solitude where time is not a factor. Before he arrives at his lonely island, Chuck is
not good at dealing with people or emotions. He only gives his friend a phone number when his
friend s wife is dying of cancer. He offers no emotional support, and even tries to stay out of the
conversation when the flight attendant is talking to his friend about it. Some other examples of
this are the Christmas presents he buys Kelly (Cast Away). Even though they are gag gifts, it is
still insensitive, and he did not think about how it would make her feel. He suffers a Satan esque
fall to this island where suddenly all the time and money in the world no longer matter. It is only
after being stripped of these elements that Chuck is able to sort out what really matters in life. The
fact that he does not open the package with the wings on it symbolizes that he is beginning to
become more attuned to the elements of life that truly matter (Cast Away). He could have easily
opened it, but he realized that respecting someone s privacy, even on that remote island, was vitally
important. He also realized that having a companion was important in survival, and this is why he
created Wilson (Cast Away). Wilson taught him that he was taking his friendships and relationships
in his earlier life for

In Jordan The Hip Speak Arabibni Analysis
While a variety of rhetorical devices specifics, parallel structure, subordinate transition can aid in
creating a remarkable academic essay, an academic essay style should be coupled with well
developed content. A system to develop analytic thinking, the Aristotelian Topics of Invention are
the pigeon holes in which arguments are stored as Cicero describes them. Because of the Topics
of Invention, the author s claim develops into a full length discussion that helps the readers in
having a comprehensive, specified understanding of the discussion. The variety of topoi enables
the writer to lay out the case for his argument. As we critique Ibon Villelabeitia s In Jordan, the

language purists and exposing a widening social and economic gap in the small kingdom. This
sentence displays the clearness of the author s ideas expressed through his strong writing style as
the reader finds himself receiving the author s thoughts clearly, making Villelabeitia goal achieved

The Thyroid Gland
HYPERTHYROIDISM GRAVES DISEASE
The thyroid gland is very important in proper functioning of the human body. The hormones it
releases are vital in regulating growth and metabolic reaction. The thyroid gland is relatively
small (about 20g) and is located at the base of the neck, connected to the windpipe and voicebox.
Its structure may be described as butterfly shaped as it is composed of two connected lobes. See
image: The two main hormones secreted by the thyroid gland are tetraiodothyronine (thyroxine or
T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Both hormones have a peptide structure containing iodine (three
atoms in T3 and four in T4).These two hormones regulate growth and development as well as
metabolism. They both speed up the rate of the body s metabolic reactions, which in turn regulates
body temperature (when energy is used in metabolic reactions, heat is released). They aid in growth
by stimulating protein production in all the cells of the body.
The secretion of these hormones is controlled by two other hormones: thyrotropin releasing
hormone (TRH) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Thyrotropin releasing hormone is
produced by the hypothalamus when the body needs thyroid hormones for its growth and
metabolism. It travels to the pituitary gland, located just below the hypothalamus, where it causes
the secretion of TSH. TSH from the pituitary travels in the bloodstream to the thyroid gland, where
it causes the secretion of thyroid hormones. When levels of these

Syntax And Imagery In The Cellist Of Sarajevo Steven Galloway
In The Cellist of Sarajevo Steven Galloway explains life after the city of Sarajevo is besieged. It
is told from four different perspectives to show how different people were affected by the same
event. Throughout the novel Galloway uses rhetorical devices such as syntax and imagery to
create mood. Galloway uses both short and long syntax to create a calm and peaceful mood
when Dragon is imagining he is escaping his horrifying city and meeting his family. Short syntax
such as [b]ut he s free and [t]hey will be happy makes the sentence more powerful. The only
thing that matters is he s free and they will be happy. This creates peace in Dragon s mind which
also calms the reader. Longer syntax is also used such as no one will be

Blackberry Picking- Seamus Heaney Analysis
Blackberry Picking Seamus Heaney Seamus Heaney is an Irish poet who was born in
Mossbawn farmhouse and spent fourteen years of his childhood there. Many of his poems are
based on personal experience; Mid term Break , for example, was based on the death of his
younger brother; and are laid out in settings akin to those he is familiar to. His poem, Blackberry
Picking , is set on a farm and explores the simple luxury of picking fresh, ripe blackberries, his
inspiration quite possibly being his own childhood. Thematically, the poem explores the idealistic
nature of childhood, and the importance of waking up to reality as one grows older. The
beginning of the poem is filled with a vivid passionate recollection of the seasonal picking of...

The line, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair ties up both, the childish reaction of crying when
hit by the realisation that something good will not last, and the adult resignation to the fact that
although it is never fair, such is life. On a more implicit note, the poem deals with the theme of
greed and the dissatisfaction often involved in attempting to gain an object of desire. The
attempt to acquire great amounts of this object by removing it from its natural setting and
hoarding it leads to its destruction and to the hoarder s disappointment. However, it is also
implied that lessons on greed are seldom learned, Each year I hoped they d keep, knew they
would not. Even with the knowledge that his efforts would be in vain, Heaney writes about how
he was compelled to try and store the blackberries each year, thus bringing out a recurrent greed
for the same object. The structure and language of the poem aid the reader in better
understanding and connecting with it. The first part is merely a recollection that provides
information; what time of the year it is, how the blackberries were collected. There is a lot of
enjambment here, and this allows for a free flow of thoughts for the poet, as well as a better level
of connection for the reader. This flow better creates the feelings and emotions of the poem, and
allows the ideas in each line to flow into each other and create one

The Importance of Music In Marketing Techniques
Music has become an important part of the marketing tool s extent, with the compound usage of TV
and radio as the mean of communicating with the consumers.
Music can serve universal promotional goals in one or more of several capacities. The classic
jingle is the most common musical technique for aiding memorability and thus product recall.
Some of the biggest products and companies in the world are successful solely because of the
customer satisfaction, this is also because the customers like a particular jingle/music in an
advertisement the brand produced. An intimate jingle/music catches the customer s attention and
makes them think twice about a product; and a bad jingle might make a company famous for the
wrong reasons, or persuade people from looking at a certain brand. The usage of music and jingles
in marketing has proven to be of importance. It helps to create the product or brand s image and it
also helps, together with all of the other marketing tools to promote the product and to make it
memorable for the consumers. (Shimp Andrews, 2013 pp 65 66)
One of the important aspects in music in advertising is the music fit or the degree of congruity
between the advertisement and song content. Marketing and music can definitely agree. This
involvement refers to the amount of attention directed toward the advertisement and its content. It
can be implied or directly stated, changing the way in which background music interacts with
advertisement viewing or listening.

Strickland states, In tact, the ASCA National Model (2005) promotes cross walking student

are differences in from child to child in the timing for reaching developmental milestones.

Arhaus Furniture
Several years ago, after deciding to redecorate my living room, I visited Arhaus Furniture. The thing
about decorating is that my tastes never seem to match my budget, which is how I got into this
gardening mess. Arhaus carried table accents that consisted of a shallow round or square ceramic
dish full of lush, green, neatly manicured grass. Immediately, I was smitten with the unique concept,
but not with the price. After leaving the furniture store, I called my husband and rattled off my list
of necessary items grass seed, potting soil, and fertilizer. Considering that I have killed every plant
ever purchased, it was evident he thought this was yet another one of my fly by night ideas, yet he
went along with the plan. My responsibility... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you re like me, you can t wait to get your fingers in the dirt and you want to get that old brown
lawn looking lush and green again. If you live in the western United States, and you know that
after October your lawn will become dormant and brown, the following is a 4 step process to
help renovate your lawn. The fundamentals of getting that beautiful yard begins with a spring
fertilizer; nitrate and phosphate. When you look at a bag of fertilizer, there are usually two or
three numbers on the bag, for example: 30 10 0 which means 30 parts nitrate which is always
the first number and 10 parts phosphate which is always the second number. The nitrate greens
up the lawn fast and the phosphate establishes a strong root system. This is your spring fertilizer,
which should be applied first. A good way to decide when to apply fertilizer is to do it close to the
holidays; Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor day. If you are worried about weeds, you
can use a fertilizer with a pre emergence in it. In case you are unfamiliar with this type of
product, you need to know that a pre emergence keeps seeds from germinating. It does not
differentiate between flower, vegetable or weed seeds, so you must be sure that it is not
applied in areas where you have flower or vegetable seeds. Many people like to use a weed and feed
fertilizer, thinking this will eliminate all the weeds. A weed and feed fertilizer can only be used
when weeds are actively growing because the chemical in the product has to attach itself to the
weed in order to kill it. If applied before the weeds are growing, you will have wasted your time and
your fertilizer. Memorial day fertilization means a fertilizer with less nitrate, such as a 25 5 10,
which is 25 parts of nitrate, 5 parts phosphate, and 12 parts of potassium. You can also find
something like this with a slow release iron, which is

improves blood flow in otherwise restricted areas such as the penis.
Kamagra is one of the forms of the Sildenafil drug which is commonly available to people around

Comparison Of Watson And Winslow Homer Portrayed In The...
The works of art, that John Singleton Copley portrayed in Watson and the Shark and Winslow
Homer portrayed in The Fog Warning, strike a sense of mystery and fear into the heart of the
viewer. With The Fog Warning, I wonder if the fisherman will meet his destination at the large
vessel before the looming ominous fog swallows him up. If the fisherman does not arrive at the
large vessel within the given time, he may be lost at sea forever. When I admire Watson and the
Shark, I contemplate if the blood running from the mouth of the shark (where it presumably
previously attacked Watson) and also pouring into the water (where Watson seems to have lost the
bottom portion of his leg in an attack) will be the final blood shared amongst the two. Will the
sailors save Watson from the ferociousness of the mighty beast or will he suffer a terrible fate and
perish at sea? While both compositions allow for mystery and contain a quite eerie sense of doom,
the artists portrayed these stories through painting them in quite opposite directions.... Show more

Casa BatllГі, located in the very heart of Passeig de GrГ cia. The building that is now Casa BatllГі was built in 1877 by Emilio Sala CortГ©s, commissioned by LluГs Sala SГЎnchez. The house was bought by Josep BatllГі in 1900. In 1904 Josep BatllГі Josep BatllГі hired Antoni GaudГ to remodel Casa BatllГі and to divide it into apartments.Gaudi added a fifth floor, completely revamped the interior, depressed the roof, and added a new facade. The building was completed and refurbished in 1906. 2 Like everything GaudГ designed, it is only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the broadest sense. • 4. Central Auditory Processing Disorder Except for outwardly appearances, speech may be the one of the most defining elements of a person s identity, psychologists generally consider language a prime manifestation of underlying cognitive processes (Solso, MacLin, MacLin, 2008, p. 468). Just by listening over the phone, I can tell whether a family member is feeling positive, in ill health, or worried about events in their lives. Should vocal language be the only measure of underlying cognitive processes? As a small child, it was frustrating to not be able to make the adults in my life understand me. Many years later after development of the brainstem auditory evoked response test (BAER), a doctor who it seemed was always on the cutting edge of his science and working with neurologists at the old Lovelace Medical Center, tested my hearing using the BAER . For me, the results of this test were life changing because for the first time in 28 years my not being able to understand much of the conversation around me and consequently, my ability to communicate had a name a diagnosis central auditory processing disorder I heard at two different speeds and both were at a slower rate than that of the general population. The BAER measures latency in milliseconds or in layman terms, the BAER measures the length of time it takes for sound to travel from the ear to the brain stem (Ness, 2009). An important benefit of the BAER is that it can be easily used for diagnosis of auditory processes in infants and young ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form and order of cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the cone cells are compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered together but, are not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central vision the vision is clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear vision. When someone looks around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many things, yet so much is going on in the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they see to create a smooth movement. This makes the brainlook at it as a motion picture. The eyes see three dimensional to notice every side of an object. This can result in two different types of vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is produced from both eyes. The other type is Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different angles of an image and gives it depth. All the different forms and and visions in the eye can create a different perception for each individual. The eye... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Analysis Of Consider The Lobster Consideration: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others How do you consider the lobster? David Foster Wallace wrote the essay Consider the Lobster. After the reading, the essay for the first time the thoughts that went through my head consisted of how the lobsters were treated and what Wallace thought of the lobsters. The lobsters are chosen out of usually a pot or a giant tank and then boiled to death. They are placed into a pot of boiling hot water and the saying that the lobsters are screaming in the pot comes to be true. Some people find it disturbing to listen to the sound while others cover the pot and not let it bother them. Also, from the first reading I thought that Wallace was being somewhat hypocritical because I got the idea that it was acceptable for him to eat and coo ketch lobsters but seeing it done in the setting of a restaurant, in a larger quantity makes it worse. Gathering all this information again had made me rethink the essay and look towards the deeper meaning. Wallace committed suicidein 2008 due to mental illness. So, when we consider the lobster does it mean that to be considerate of it? Another point I came to was about was mental illness and how in 2008 Wallace committed suicide. When lobsters are chosen and boiled to eat, those people are sending them to their grave . So, what does being considerate consist of when discussing a lobster, a dead body and the food we are about to eat? Jessica Mitford wrote the essay The Story of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the book, Lizard, Lucius Sims is portrayed by the author, Dennis Covington, as a mentally challenged person, and he contributes to the theme of overcoming bullying. Because of his facial features, Lucius Sims is portrayed as a mentally challenged kid , and is sent off to a school for boys, like him. Lucius, or better known as Lizard, got his name, and was placed in the school he is in due to his, ...eyes more on the side of his head than most people s and a nose that lies on its side... • 10. Comparison Between The Code Of Hammurabi And Hammurabi Can rules be fair, but morally incorrect? In other words, can rules show fairness, but be unjust. Two sets of laws in ancient history come to mind when this question arises. Those two laws are The Code of Hammurabi and the Bible s laws. Hammurabi s legal code (The Code of Hammurabi) was established between 1894 and 1595 B.C. (Barratt et al., 2017). The Code of Hammurabiwas a set of 282 laws dealing with a wide variety of interactions, and an epilogue filled with curses applying to anyone in the future who may change, efface, or subvent Hammurabi s divinely ordained legislation (Cook 3). The Code of Hammurabi may have shown fairness to a degree, but the Bible s early laws are more just than what King Hammurabi perceived his laws to be.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, he states, By the command of Shamash, the great judge of heaven and earth, let righteousness go forth in the land: by the order of Marduk, my lord let no destruction betail my monument ( The Code of Hammurabi ). The differences between the two laws go even deeper with the value of life. For example, if a man strikes the daughter of another and causes miscarriage, he shall pay ten shekels (Student Handout 2.2 Documents from Mesopotamia). With a law like that, it begs to question if Hammurabi would pay ten shekels for the life of his own child. However, the Bible s law on the subject brings more justice to that situation. For example, If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman s demands and the court allows (NIV Exodus 21:22). It continues by stating, But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise (NIV Exodus 21:22). By the difference in the two laws, The Code of Hammurabi seems like it has a class for every walk of life. Hammurabi seemed to have boasted a lot in his own abilities. He seemed to have created a perception that he was the upper class of humanity. For example, he states, My words are well considered; there is no wisdom like unto mine ( The Code of Hammurabi ). • 12. The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross, 2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to hash out labor relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations disputes between employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy and for the consumers. Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship between the employees and management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The collective bargaining process allows for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the collective bargaining process (Sockell Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues such as wages, employment terms and workplace conditions are required subject during the collective bargaining negotiation process (McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the collective bargaining process must done in good faith. Good faith means that the either side in the process meets at a reasonable time to discuss all the mandatory and mutually agreed upon permissive subjects. If the issue is considered permissive the employer is not required to negotiate these issues during the bargaining process. I was really excited to have the opportunity to sit in a real law school class amongst unrehearsed law students, which would give me an insight into the inner workings of a law school classroom. The experience was rewarding in more ways than one and it also reinforced my plans to attend law school. My expectations were unclear, as I had sat in a Torts class before, but this time I sat in a Contracts class. Professor Pike s teaching style involves a lecture with a visual aid. This teaching style seems to be the most effective for me because I can see what the professor is trying to explain on a PowerPoint. I have read and heard stories about law schools being notorious for using the Socratic Method for classroom instruction. The idea is to encourage all students to be fully prepared with their cases briefed ready to be called at any time. Interestingly enough, I feel like this was a form of a revised Socratic method. The professor did call on random students by looking at his seating chart and choosing someone and then the student had to give all of the important facts of the case, the issue presented, and what court it was brought up in. If the student was missing a key piece of evidence, the professor would probe further, asking more challenging questions and if the student did not know, other students were allowed to answer. QoE in Femtocells Abstract: This paper reviews existing Femtocell architecture deployment options proposed by the 3GPP, highlights the increase on data consumption expected in the home environment and proposes a simulation study to assess the achievable QoE with each one of the proposed architectures taking into account the backhaul technologies. 1 Introduction In recent years the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in UK and the rest of the world have seen an exponential increase in the data consumption over their networks. This is due to the success of what is called Mobile Broadband contracts for laptops, which consume 100 times more data than a normal mobile device, the appearance of high end smartphones which consume 8 times more data than a normal... Because the femtocells will be using a non dedicated shared (with non femto traffic) backhaul access technology (such as xDSL), the importance of delivering QoE is greater and more complex than in the macrocell case. Especially in the uplink as many of the fixed broadband technologies use asymmetrical link capacities. This means that some type of SLAs will need to be in place between the owner of the femtocell (MNO) and the owner of the backhaul access (ISP) to assure the required QoE for the different traffic flows [5]. Depending on the implementation solution used (from the 3GPP proposed ones) the technical difficulties to deliver an acceptable QoE will change. So although femtocells are a very good solution for offloading data from an overloaded mobile network, if the implementation/architecture is not correct it can affect the Quality of Experience (QoE) of the end user, which will prompt the end user to use the macrocell. 5. Conclusion and further work To avoid this situation, a simulation study will be carried on using as parameters: the future in home data demands with the future femtocell voice and data demands, the different proposed ... All of those characters played a significant role in order to portray the story effectively. A lot depended on the actors as well and their ability to be adapted to the characters they were assigned to play. She tried to make everyone lives easier, but that is impossible. However, she achieved what she believed in because of her spirit and technique. She learned that sometime you have to make sacrifices and sometimes people will get hurt, but it is all for the best. Standing during the National Anthem has been a way Americans show respect for their country since the 1800 s, therefore not standing is nothing short of disrespectful. Last year, former pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the National Anthem because he believed standing was social and racial injustice and players today have followed his actions. After a statement from President Trump on Sunday, September 24th, there has been nothing but more chaos and protests throughout our Nation s professional football teams. • 18. The Fifteenth Amendment And Women s Suffrage Movement Introduction The Women s Suffrage Movement was a political struggle, in which women protested and assembled to vote and run for office. The idea that women could not vote, run for office, be represented in the workplace, nor serve on juries contradicted early ideas that the American woman was a protector of the concepts of freedom and righteousness. The American suffrage movement originated from the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 (history.com). At this convention, women alongside a few men worked to write the Declaration of Sentiments, which would start the initial idea to fight for the rights of women and provide a list of grievances in reference to the rights of women such as: voting rights, property rights, and educational rights (Snider 2016). However, women would not receive suffrage until the post Civil War era. Several leaders as well as movements would have to amalgamate over the course of several decades for the voice of women to be heard and changes to be made in accordance to law and society. The Fifteenth Amendment and Women s Rights The concept of women s suffrage was first questioned under the clauses of the Fifteenth Amendment. Under this amelioration, the denial of suffrage by the states to any citizen on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude was prohibited. However, radical Republicans did not want to handle the plank of women s suffrage as it was feared that the goal of black enfranchisement would be delayed, as the amendment ... The Integration Of The European Union Modern culture commonly exceeds the boundaries of individual nation states through processes such as globalisation, improvement in technologies and the rise in free trade; leading to the concept of transnationalism (Waldinger, 2013). Transnationalism involves interactions linking people or institutions across the borders of many nation states (Crang et al, 2003). Transnationalism is intrinsically linked to mobility; mobility is the ongoing and continuous cross border movements in which people develop and maintain economic, social and cultural links in more than one nation, mobility (this sentence is too long but I m not sure how to change it so it still makes sense) facilitates transnationalism with enables Europeanisation (Ernste, 2009).... As a result, integration allows Europe to increase their economic output, because as Hansen and Jonsson (2014) argue West Europe lacks the natural resources necessary to become a viable economic power to compete globally. The Schengen agreement of 1995 therefore facilitates trade, transnationalism and Europeanisation because it enables workers, particularly lorry drivers, to move easily across the continent. Medrano (2012) argues that integration processes are difficult because of the diversity within the EU, the rise of Euroscepticism, and the shift in the balance of power of national institutions from domestic parliaments to a European parliament. Fligstein (2012) mentions that in 2004 only 3.9 per cent of people who lived in Europe viewed themselves as European, this is very damning in suggesting that the processes of EU integration have failed because no one identifies themselves as European. Raunio (2011) also echoes this sentiment; he comments that national governments are the gatekeepers of EU integration; however, the consistent enlargement of the EU has made this task more difficult, leading to the conclusion that integration has resulted in the loss of control that domestic governments have over their decisions ... All three myths feature an apocalyptic event that starts a new life cycle, an element of sacrifice to retain order, and the death and rebirth of a god. Likewise, in the Greek myth, Persephone s rebirth happens when she leaves to the Underworld during the winter and returns to the gods above during the spring. This is much like the vegetation cycle mentioned previously, especially with her strong agricultural association. • 36. Underage Drinking Is Part Of The Culture Of College By the time high school students are seniors around 70 percent of students have had alcohol and the number will increase more as they begin college (IUPUI). With being in college one thing that I did discover is that underage drinking is part of the culture in college, also the friends that I had in high school who are 21 now I have discovered they drink some of the least amount now. Which has begun to make me wonder why people who are 21 drink less than people who are underage. I believe that when people are 21 they now do not have to worry about the next time they can get alcohol. Congress should lower the drinking age from 21 to 18 because at age 18 when they are in college, for some students it will be the first time of it being acceptable to drink alcohol. Most college students are putting their health at risk with binge drinking. They are not introduced to alcohol at a younger age and drink because they do not know the next time they will get alcohol, so they will start to binge drink drinking a high content of alcohol quickly and dangerously. Although it may introduce alcohol to people of younger ages, it will help them mature more quickly knowing they do not have to worry about the next time they will get alcohol. With lowering the drinking age, it will have positive effects on the economy and society, it will be beneficial because it will prevent younger people from binge drinking, and people are legally adults at the age of 18 can vote and serve for their ... When you type a date into a generated form or table, you can add a column to a query which will automatically calculate the next periodic reinvestigation date. You can later create a form which includes the query s calculated column. After you type in a date, the adjusted date appears automatically. The novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, by Mark Haddon does just that. The novel centers around a 15 year old genius Christopher Boone who has a mental disability of some sort, struggling with communication because of it. The book is comprised of a murder mystery novel Christopher sought to write after discovering the bloody murder of his neighbor s dog, Wellington. Gradually, the story focuses away from the main conflict and morphs into a complicated story about Christopher s life. With that, Haddon brings out the complexity and hardships of human life, specifically through the topic of truth and deceit. The truth comes out eventually; fabricating it now will only prolong the unwanted effects later. Also, lies ruin relationships, possibly for good. In trying to find out who murdered Wellington, Christopher uncovers a box containing letters from his mother addressed to him. Prior to this incident, Christopher s father, Mr. Boone, told him that his mother passed away due to a heart attack while in the hospital. In addition, Christopher was unable to visit her. The date of the supposed death did not match up with the recent inscription on the letters, indicating his father lying about her death. Though he is well aware of the fact that only the gods live for ever (Gilgamesh 71), he stops at nothing to defy his destiny as a mortal being. While the Mesopotamian gods use a system of signs and symbolic patterns to control the happenings in the living world, humans exist only to serve them and carry out their will. The Epic of Gilgameshproves this to be true. I will argue that in The Epic, Gilgamesh and Enkiduboth share a dependency on the divine agencies. As their dreams and journeys are driven by external forces, we see the two heroes struggle to understand and accept the nature of the human condition. In the ancient world, dreams were not seen as prophecies, but more as premonitions. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the Mesopotamian gods convey their will to Gilgamesh and Enkidu through their dreams. The hormones it releases are vital in regulating growth and metabolic reaction. The thyroid gland is relatively small (about 20g) and is located at the base of the neck, connected to the windpipe and voicebox. Its structure may be described as butterfly shaped as it is composed of two connected lobes. See image: The two main hormones secreted by the thyroid gland are tetraiodothyronine (thyroxine or T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Both hormones have a peptide structure containing iodine (three atoms in T3 and four in T4).These two hormones regulate growth and development as well as metabolism. They both speed up the rate of the body s metabolic reactions, which in turn regulates body temperature (when energy is used in metabolic reactions, heat is released). They aid in growth by stimulating protein production in all the cells of the body. The secretion of these hormones is controlled by two other hormones: thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Thyrotropin releasing hormone is produced by the hypothalamus when the body needs thyroid hormones for its growth and metabolism. It travels to the pituitary gland, located just below the hypothalamus, where it causes the secretion of TSH. TSH from the pituitary travels in the bloodstream to the thyroid gland, where it causes the secretion of thyroid hormones. When levels of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It wasn t fair ties up both, the childish reaction of crying when hit by the realisation that something good will not last, and the adult resignation to the fact that although it is never fair, such is life. The attempt to acquire great amounts of this object by removing it from its natural setting and hoarding it leads to its destruction and to the hoarder s disappointment. However, it is also implied that lessons on greed are seldom learned, Each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not. The Importance of Music In Marketing Techniques Music has become an important part of the marketing tool s extent, with the compound usage of TV and radio as the mean of communicating with the consumers. Music can serve universal promotional goals in one or more of several capacities. The classic jingle is the most common musical technique for aiding memorability and thus product recall. Some of the biggest products and companies in the world are successful solely because of the customer satisfaction, this is also because the customers like a particular jingle/music in an advertisement the brand produced. An intimate jingle/music catches the customer s attention and makes them think twice about a product; and a bad jingle might make a company famous for the wrong reasons, or persuade people from looking at a certain brand. The usage of music and jingles in marketing has proven to be of importance. It helps to create the product or brand s image and it also helps, together with all of the other marketing tools to promote the product and to make it memorable for the consumers. If you live in the western United States, and you know that after October your lawn will become dormant and brown, the following is a 4 step process to help renovate your lawn. The fundamentals of getting that beautiful yard begins with a spring fertilizer; nitrate and phosphate. When you look at a bag of fertilizer, there are usually two or three numbers on the bag, for example: 30 10 0 which means 30 parts nitrate which is always the first number and 10 parts phosphate which is always the second number. The nitrate greens up the lawn fast and the phosphate establishes a strong root system. This is your spring fertilizer, which should be applied first. A good way to decide when to apply fertilizer is to do it close to the holidays; Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor day. If you are worried about weeds, you can use a fertilizer with a pre emergence in it. In case you are unfamiliar with this type of product, you need to know that a pre emergence keeps seeds from germinating. It does not differentiate between flower, vegetable or weed seeds, so you must be sure that it is not applied in areas where you have flower or vegetable seeds. Many people like to use a weed and feed fertilizer, thinking this will eliminate all the weeds. A weed and feed fertilizer can only be used when weeds are actively growing because the chemical in the product has to attach itself to the weed in order to kill it. If applied before the weeds are growing, you will have wasted your time and your fertilizer.
