The Shy Man In The Mixer
In the book The Mixer a man named the Shy man was a burglar! The Shy man was a clever man
because he bought a dog than he trained it so it will not bark when he hears scratch at the window. I
thought that he was very quiet because in the book he did not speak much to a cop. The shy man s
motivation for robbing a house was the dog backy because in the book the shy man bought a dog for
30 cents. Than he sold Blacky to man who he fixed his dog so he could sell his dog to him for about
12 cents because he was going to rob his house and he needs a dog to not bark at him when he breaks
in from the window. I got this information from the book. In the book at about half way it basicly
says: At that night when the burglar came Blacky was looking

A Study On A Fourth Month Male Child Essay
Introduction
The case study focuses on a 15th month male child (proband) brought by his mother to a pediatrician
with inconsolable crying due to acroparathesia in the lower extremities and angiokeratomas on his
skin. The mother is 30 year old Japanese healthy female (consultand) with a history of hypohydrosis.
The proband has two siblings, a 6 year old sister with a mild hearing deficit in both ears and a 4 year
old sister with no medical history. The consultand has two siblings, a 34 year old healthy male with a
history of hypohydrosis and 19 year old sister with angiokeratomas similar to the proband. The
consultand s father and uncles have passed away at young ages ranging from 42 50 due to acute
myocardial infarction, renal failure or acute stroke. The proband s father is Caucasian with a history of
mild hypertension. The paternal grandparents have a medical history of mild hypertension (paternal
grandmother) and hypocholesteremia (grandfather). Overall, the medical and family history of the
proband is consistent with X linked disease known as Anderson Fabry disease as the affected male
(consulstand s father) passed his X chromosome to all of his daughters (consultand and sister). In this
way, all daughters of affected males will have the gene for Anderson Fabry disease.
What is Anderson Fabry disease?
Anderson Fabry disease, commonly known as Fabry s disease is an X linked lysosomal storage
disorder, specifically a deficiency in lysosomal enzyme alpha galactosidase A

Caesarea Maritima Essay
The site of Caesarea Maritima contains many unique challenges for archaeological excavations. In
spite of this, through pottery analysis, archaeologists are able to learn about different aspects of the
site. Nonetheless, Caesarea Maritima has a variety of specific challenges associated with it for
archaeologists. Not only does it cover a significant section of the coastal region, but the immense
harbour, over time, has been completely submerged in the sea. Along with geographical challenges,
there are also historical ones. The site of Caesarea Maritima was inhabited from Hellenistic time until
the Crusaders, a period spanning over 900 years. As it was continuously inhabited, the archaeological
layers contain the remnants of many different cultures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the site of Tell el Hesi, Petrie noticed specific styles of pottery at different stages of the dig (Petrie
1890). By a comparison of the different pottery forms with similar pieces dated from previous sites,
Petrie was able to date the surrounding material through the pottery. Significantly, by studying the
pottery forms, Petrie created an association between specific dates and forms of pottery (Petrie 1891)
thus created a chronology which revolutionised the archaeology of the Levant. To give an illustration
of the impact which Petrie s discovery has had upon archaeology in the Levant, his chronology has
been used on archaeological sites in the region throughout the past century (Cole 1984; Tushingham
1986). In Caesarea Maritima Petrie s discovery of dating a site through the pottery has assisted with
dating both the city and the harbour of Sebastos. In the harbour, the discovery of pottery was
interpreted as evidence that the city was importing goods via sea trade, during the 3rd century AD
(Hohlfelder 1988). While excavating Caesarea Maritima the Department of Antiquities in Israel
discovered that an area they were excavating was abandoned during the Arab conquest (Yeivin 1955,
p. 123). Yet, because there was evidence of pottery from the eighth and ninth centuries in addition to
some lamps, it was evidence that after the site had been abandoned it was resettled. Because of the
discovery of Mameluke pottery, it became apparent that the site was superceded during the Crusader
period (Yeivin 1955, p. 123). Petrie s discovery of the association between pottery and dating,
therefore, has assisted in the archaeology of Caesarea

Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla was one of the most brilliant minds of the twentieth century. His father was a Serbian
Orthodox Priest and his mother was highly intellegent (Hunt 1). If intelligence is genetic then his
mother must have been where Nikola got his from. His father was most likely the one responsible for
his modest and honest personality. Nikola Tesla changed the world by giving it Alternating current
various other impactful technologies, but his name did not get the recognition he deserved. When
Nikola finished college he traveled to different countries, gaining experience from his travels. After

It was not until 1887 he found some funding for his ideas and was invited to address the American
Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1888 (History.com Staff 2). During this he peaked the interest of
George Westinghouse, who hired Tesla shortly after this.
Westinghouse was Edison s direct competitor at the time and Tesla proved to be quite the addition to
his team. Together, Tesla and Westinghouse lit the 1891 World s Columbian Exposition in Chicago
and partnered with General Electric to install AC generators at Niagara Falls, creating the first modern
power station, (History.com Staff 3). And thus the alternating current/ direct current war had begun.
Edison would do public stunts to scare the public into wanting his direct current like Edison
sometimes electrocuted animals at demonstrations, (West 3). During such demonstrations he would
use alternating current to show that it can be deadly, and In 1889 Edison arranged for a convicted New
York murderer to be put to death in an AC powered electric chair, (History.com Staff 3), giving birth
to one of the most infamous utilities of America s judicial system the electric chair.
Chapman 3
Tesla took a different stance in the war of AC/DC. Instead of attacking his rival with instilling the
public with fears of the dangers of electricity he would defend his invention with demonstrations of
safety and cost effective his version of the power system was. Tesla responded by demonstrating

What Is The Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto
The communist Manifesto is the author s way of interpreting the goals of Communism, as well as the
theory underlying this movement. Two major points of the manifesto explain how class relationships
are defined by an era s means of production. Also, the manifesto incorporates how class struggles, or
exploitation of one class by another, are motivating force behind all historical developments. If those
two points are not followed then a revolution occurs and a new class emerges as the ruling one. This
outcome represents the march of history which is driven by economic variables. The Manifesto argues
that this development is inevitable, and the capitalism is inherently unstable. Elimination of social ...

I think that the reading was worth my time. Most readings that I am forced to read do not peak my
interest. This work on the other hand was enjoyable because it was filled with information regarding
the work of communism. This book has to be considered one of many famous literary works. It is hard
to argue that the text is not worth reading. I don t believe in the ideas expressed in the text, but I
respect the impact that the novel has had on society. Communism was viewed as such a scary topic for
most of history and it was interesting to read about it. I am not sure why the author came up with these
ideas. I do know that he was the basis for the idea of communism. It is hard to say that the author did
not contribute to my understanding of the topic because if he did not, then I would be considered an
idiot. It is almost like getting a basketball lesson from Michael Jordon and not improving your game.
The way in which the text was represented made it easy to understand. The four section format was
broken down in a way so it had easy access. The most important thing that I obtained from the text is
how much I am proud to be an American. I love the form of government that we have. A democracy is
something that I am proud to be apart of. It also makes me proud of our government that we went out
to stop the spread of communism. All

Taking a Look at Botulism
Clostridium botulinum produces toxin called Botulism neurotoxin (BoNTs) which is responsible for
botulism. There are seven serotypes BoNTs of which only A, B and E are responsible for human
botulism. These toxins bind to presynaptic nerve terminal of neuromuscular junction thus disrupting
cellular communication resulting in muscular weakness and paralysis. Various ways were discovered
for treating botulism which involve producing murine monoclonal antibodies against BoNTs. But if
such antibodies are injected into human beings such antibodies would be detected as foreign entities
and antibodies would be produced against monoclonal antibodies. The drawbacks of use monoclonal
antibodies lead to development of antigen specific antibodies.
For generating antigen specific antibodies, human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were
isolated from three healthy volunteers. PBMC were then immunized with interleukins and BoNT.
Invitro immunized cells were then isolated and RNA was extracted from it. The RNA was then reverse
transcribed to form cDNA. The cDNA was then used for template for production of human IgG Fd
(consisting heavy chain variable and constant region) and light chain fragments using specific primers.
The DNA obtained by amplifying IgG Fd and light chain was digested with respective digestion
enzymes and ligated into different lambda phage and cloned. The cloned lamda phage DNA was then
separated by 0.8% Agarose Gel Electrophoresis. The purified gel fragments of

The Battle For Yucca Mountain
The Battle for Yucca Mountain. Now I am become Death, the shatterer of worlds. These words were
uttered by physicist Robert Oppenheimer on July 16, 1945. He was in Alamogordo, Texas and had just
witnessed the detonation of the world s first atomic bomb. Three weeks later, two similar bombs,
nicknamed Little Boy and Fat Man, were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The next
day, Japan surrendered to the United States, signaling the end of the Second World War (Pais Crease,
2006). Although the first nuclear weapons were relatively small, with yields equivalent to
approximately 20,000 tons of dynamite, they nonetheless shocked the world, setting off an arms and
energy race that would last for decades. Today, the United States sits on top of the world s largest
nuclear arsenal. Nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers dominate the oceans, and over 100
nuclear power plants supply nearly 20% of the nation s power supply (Bayh Gregg, 2014). All of this
nuclear production produced tremendous amounts of nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is a by product of
the uranium enrichment process and the operation of nuclear power plants. One of the most common
radioactive isotopes found in nuclear waste is plutonium 239, which is capable of causing cancer
related fatalities for millions of people in very small amounts. Other isotopes include iodine 129,
cesium 137, and uranium 238, all of which are highly radioactive and have half lives in the tens of

Paulo Freire The Banking Concept Of Education
Paulo Freire believes that the world is primarily dominated by the banking concept in regards to
education. Under the banking concept, Freire describes the relationship between students and teachers
as involv[ing] a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient, listening objects (the students) (216).
Freire later goes on to symbolize students as empty receptacles awaiting teachers to dump their
knowledge freely to fill the empty spaces. Memorization, obedience, oppression, and dominance all
describe the inner workings of the banking concept. Students lose their ability to become cogitative
thinkers as they memorize lectures, never speak their voice or dissent to teachers, and give all of their
freedom to their professors. Students then become slaves to the classroom, and rather than a symbiotic
relationship existing between students and teachers, the road is very one way. If Freire were to analyze

In section two of the piece, Rodriguez even admits that with many of the books he did not understand
the true meaning. Before closing Section II, Rodriguez states I read in order to acquire a point of view.
I vacuumed books for epigrams, scraps of information, ideas, themes anything to fill the hollow within
me and make me feel educated (350). This points readers in the direction that the banking concept
molds students to be mindless receptacles awaiting dumped knowledge; reading then is used to soak in
the word count and not the actual meaning behind the piece. In The Banking Concept of Education,
Freire makes an interesting point:
The interests of the oppressors lie in changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation
which oppresses them ...the more the oppressed can be led to adapt to that situation, the more easily
they can be dominated

Sickle Cell Anemia And The Disease
Sickle Cell Anemia LaToya R Walker American Public University Systems Abstract This paper will
discuss Sickle Cell Anemia. It will describe what the disease is as well as how its contracted. The
paper will go on to on to discuss the symtoms risk and statistics of sickle cell aniema. The paper will
end with discussing treatment for the disease. Sickle Cell Anemia Sickle Cell Anemia or Sickle Cell
Disease (SCD) is a passed down blood disorder that attacks and destroys the red blood cells. This
Disease was first discovered back in 1910. The disease was first described as a clinical entity by
Herrick1 in 1910 (Anderson Ware 1932). Sickle cell sickness is brought about by a change in the
hemoglobin Beta quality found on chromosome 11. Hemoglobin transports oxygen from the lungs to
different parts of the body. Red platelets with typical (hemoglobin An) are smooth and round and coast
through veins. Typical red platelets are round like doughnuts, and they travel through little blood tubes
in the body to convey oxygen. Sickle red platelets turn out to be hard, sticky and molded like sickles
used to cut wheat. At times these blood cells can become crescent shaped and have a hard time passing
through small blood vessels, this keeps red blood cells and the oxygen they carry from getting to all
parts of the body. This causes less blood to reach the body at this point the tissues that have not
received a normal blood flow will become damaged. Individuals who have sickle cell

The Cost and Reward of Care giving Among Aging Spouses and Adult Children The main goal of the
study was to examine the association between the relationship between caregiving among male and
female and what are the costs for those who provide care and the rewards they getting when they care
for family members. The researchers addressed eight hypothesis related to the social exchange theory.
These hypotheses stated in the research as the following: Hypothesis 1 2: Caregiving women will
experience greater cost than caregiving men, and caregiving men will experience greater reward than
caregiving women . Hypothesis 3 4: Spousal caregivers will experience greater cost than adult child
caregivers, and adult child caregivers will experience greater reward than spouse caregivers .
Hypothesis 5 6: Caregiving wives will experience greater cost than caregiving husbands . Hypothesis
7: The relationship between help from the care recipient and caregiver costs and rewards is moderated
by the gender and the relationship of the caregiver ( Raschick Ingersoll Dayton, 318 319). The
dependent variable in the study was the cost and reward of caregiving, and the independent variables

Celebrities And Ordinary People
Celebrities and ordinary people are identified in different categories. Celebrities are the elite or ones
who have a prodigious influence on the public. Famous people range from artist all the way down to
politicians. Ordinary people are common citizens of the world. Conventionally, this refers to one who
conducts a rudimentary life with no authentic exposure to spotlight attention. This may additionally
mean ordinary people have not accomplished as much as a celebrity. Although celebrities and ordinary
people hold different designations and lives, they are not much different from one another. Sure
enough, celebrities and regular people are disunited by an abundance of things. Of the many things
many things, the more conspicuous are lifestyle, privacy, and wealth, nevertheless, it is those very
qualities that make famous people and mundane people homogeneous.
Celebrities and ordinary people both have kindred lifestyles. Celebrities carry out relationships just
like ordinary people and enjoy quality time with their friends and family. Every human longs for the
fundamentals of love and family and longs for a simple lifestyle when it comes down to desiring
healthy relationships. Most celebrities appreciate doing simple things such as staying home, enjoying
friends and family, and watching television. Similarly, ordinary people and celebrities both face life
trials and tribulations and experience an ample amount of stress. Life mistakes and hardships are

Tiffany And Co. s Story
Tiffany Co. s story begins in 1837 in New York City. Having an everlasting passion for the most
beautiful diamonds in the world, founder Charles Lewis Tiffany arrived in New York with a vision of
spectacular beauty that went on to redefine glamour and style around the world (Tiffany.com). With a
three year strategic plan (broadly defined plan aimed at creating a desired future) that balances
earnings with brand stewardship (refers to actions taken by management to maintain, in the minds of
consumers, strong associations amongst the Tiffany CO. brand and product quality, product
exclusivity (luxury), the highest levels of customer service, captivating store design and product
display and responsible product sourcing practices) and a profit plan for the fiscal year, it can be rather
challenging; for instance, variants in product mix can positively affect gross margins in the short term
while negatively affecting brand image. Another reason is that increased staffing can positively affect
customer service while negatively affecting earnings (SEC). Strategy implementation is the activity
performed according to a plan in order to achieve an overall goal (Business Dictionary). According to
the SEC filing, its key strategies are: To selectively expand its global distribution without
compromising the value of the TIFFANY CO. trademark (the Brand ). To enhance customer

Unfortunately, elementary schools do not have enough technology. Studies reflect an increase in the
number of students interested in technological areas when they are exposed to science and technology
topics at a young age (DeJarnette 181). I know about this because my daughter, Dania, was part of a
selected group of students in an engineering class during high school where students learned over four
years about building and programming systems. However, this class was not open for all the students
in high school, which is sad because more students could be motivated to follow that path. The school

Figure 1 Sekaran Bougie Research Process Abstract The analysis will represent a comparative
assessment of an article that appeared in the Journal of Sports Media, Volume 3, Number 1, Spring
2008 entitled Interactive Media and Sports Journalists: The Impact of Interactive Media on Sports
Journalists (Wigley Meirick, 2008). This analysis will focus on the first two steps of the eleven step
research process outline by Sekaran Bougie (Sekaran Bougie, 2010). These steps involve observation
and the preliminary data gathering. Therefore, this analysis will focus mainly on the introductory
information and the literature review that the analyzed study outlines in the article. Introduction In
regards to conducting research for use in business, much of the research is geared toward ultimately
being used as the basis for decision making. Therefore it is vital that the research follows a purely
rational process to eliminate as much subjectivity as possible in order to obtain the most effective
results. The first step in the research process begins with observation (Sekaran Bougie, 2010).
Observation is the step in which a significant amount of creativity can be used to identify potential
research problems or gaps in the current body of literature. This phase is comparatively loosely

Two Innovation of the Nineteenth Century
When asked what the most important invention is, many questions comes to mind, and these questions
must be answered before responding to the initial question. Basically, anything that did not exist
previously, whether it is a mechanical device or graphics, literature, or music, is an invention . The
eighteenth, nineteenth and the twentieth centuries were met with innumerable of new inventions,
technical breakthroughs, and innovations. Steam locomotive, diesel engine and the internet were two
of the technological innovations that revolutionized societies in the nineteenth and twentieth century.
Invented in England in 1814, Steam locomotive was one of the technological inventions that
revolutionized the world. The first full scale locomotive was constructed by Richard Trevithick a
British mechanical engineer in 1804 at the Penydarren Ironworks in Wales. Before then in 1797,
Trevithick had constructed high pressure working models of both stationary and locomotive engines
which was a success. With four driving wheels, Steam locomotive had smooth wheels operating on
smooth metal rails, its success showed that enough traction could be accomplished without using gear
wheels and a cogged or toothed track. Trevithick locomotive exhausted its steam into the stack of the
engine s firebox; this provided a forced conscription for the blast in the firebox and was used on

Oskar And The Eight Blessings Analysis
Oskar and the Eight Blessings was a short picture book originally written by Tanya and Richard
Simon. The play, however, was directed and choreographed by Marcie Shapiro. It took place on
December 8th and 9th, in the Mountain View Center of Performing Arts, and used the second stage.
The play began in Germany, a few days before Hanukkah, and ended in New York, on the first day of
Hanukkah. The first scene showed a young Jewish boy named Oskar (played by a girl) and his parents
lighting the Menorah. Right after this, their house was invaded by the Nazi s. In order to protect their
child, Oskar s parents sent him to New York to live with his aunt. Armed with only a picture of his
relative and barely any money in his pocket, Oskar boarded a ferry and arrived in America. Once
there, he received eight blessings , or people showing compassion during the holiday season.
A young actor named Naomi Shanson played Oskar, and her performance was incredible. The play did
not have many lines; instead, it had a lot of background music. Due to this, everyone in the cast,
especially the main character, had to be extra expressive. Naomi did this amazingly; she conveyed
intense feelings of sadness, wonder, relief and nervousness clearly, while barely speaking. Something
that really struck me was how she used her entire body to show emotion. For example, she swung her
arms, skipped and tilted her head side to side to show excitement when it snowed. In another scene,
Naomi had just been given a

Haemoglobin Synthesis
In order for haemoglobin to be made from the base sequence provided, protein sysnthesis needs to
occur. Consequently, two major events are involved; transcription, which makes messenger RNA
(mRNA) that holds the codons that tRNA will translate into amino acids and eventually a polypeptide;
and transcription, which makes polypetide chains that make proteins. In relation the hameglobin
structure, the DNA (base sequence provided) partially unwinds, so it can be read. RNA polymerase
enzymes attach onto the promoter reigon of the gene. The RNA polymerase assists in the
complementray base pairing of free ribonucleotides with exposed bases of the template strand of
DNA. Therefore, new hyrdogen bonds will be formed between the bases of DNA and the newly
formed RNA molecule. When the RNA polymerase reaches the terminal reigon of the gene, hydrogen
bonds break of and a newly formed mRNA strand C A U C U AA C C C C A G A G G A G is created.

With that being said, this mRNA sequence codes for six codons and six amino acids. After the creation
of mRNA, proteins need to be made in order to make hameglobin, through translation. The mRNA
strand exits the nucleus and attaches onto a ribosominal sub unit, within the cytoplasm. Every three
letters, which code for one amino acid is read, as the mRNA strand flows through the ribomsomes.
Once the mRNA is positioned properly in the ribosomal sub uint, it triggers the approach for tRNA.
Each tRNA (anti codon) brings one amino acid and complentary binds it with the mRNA codon. The
tRNA will then drop off its amio acids, which will be attached onto the growing polypeptide chain.
Once the polypeptide chain has gained all the needed amino acids for new protein, it will break of the
ribosome and make its way to the endoplasmic reticulum. Later on these amino acids will combine
and create a hemoglobin protein (McKinley, O Loughlin Bidle,

Comparing Genesis And The Flood Story Of Genesis Vs....
Throughout human existence, different cultures share stories that may have many meanings; from
explaining why mankind exists to how a hero defeats a forest monster. Two well known stories are
Genesis and Gilgamesh. Both stories contain a part where there is a flood that wipes out mankind.
Although two different stories, the flood story from Genesis and the flood story from Gilgamesh share
a plethora of similarities that connect the two stories. Some key similarities include the cause of the
flood, the animals on the boat, and the way of how each hero in the two stories find dry land. Firstly,
the reason for the floods in both stories involve the wiping out of mankind. In the story of Genesis,
God believed the mankind became lawless. The Lord saw how great was man s wickedness on earth,
and how every plan devised by his mind was nothing but evil all the time. (Genesis). Although God
created mankind, the actions of them did not please him and he no longer believed they were worthy
living on earth any longer, which concluded him creating a massive flood to wipe them out. In
comparison, the flood story in Gilgamesh shares a similar storyline. The gods believed that the
humans were too loud and wild; resulting to their lack of sleep. In those days the world teemed, the
people multiplied, the world bellowed like a wild bull, and the great god was aroused by the clamour.
(The Story of the Flood). Therefore, the flood was constructed to wipe out humankind so that the gods

Compare And Contrast Machiavelli And Tupac
Da Monie McRae
November 9, 2016
HONR 2111
Dr. S. Hankerson
Tupac (Makaveli) vs. Niccolo Machiavelli Humanism is an outlook or system of thought attaching
prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the
potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely
rational ways of solving human problems. Niccolo Machiavelli was a 16th century political
philosopher, poet, playwright and historian during the renaissance period. He wrote The Prince which
was a political book about monarchal and survival. One of the purposes of the book was to give advice
to new tyrants and others who wanted to gain and maintain power. One of the things that he discusses
is skill and luck or virtĂș. He mentions in chapter six that a prudent man will always try to follow in the
footsteps of great men and imitate those who have been truly outstanding, so that if he is not skillful as
they, at least some of their ability may rub off on him . I can only imagine Tupac reading those words
and thinking that while he is a skilled rapper, he wants to be able to maintain power and get better.
Tupac Shakur has always been regarded as an urban prophet. The Cali rapper was known for his
prolific bars, and when he died in 1996, his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

William Shakespeare s portrayal of romance has created an everlasting effect since the day his plays

While A Midsummer s Night Dream and Shakespeare in Love both following the concept of
Shakespearian romances and demonstrate it in different ways. A Midsummer Night s Dream has the
stronger concept of Shakespearian romance due to the fact it was written by William Shakespeare

Truman Doctrine
All things in history have a place and time. In fact we are history. Had it not been for the previous
events in world history, our existence could have been questionable. What would have happened if
Hitler did take over the world? Would we be alive today? What if the cold war turned hot at some
point? All these doubts tend to help an individual realize that everything in world history happens for a
specific reason and therefore everything has its own time and place. One significant event in United
States history had been the Vietnam War. However, the Vietnam War that I speak of didnÁ #9472;
#8805;t last from the mid 1960Á #9472; #8805;s to early 1970Á #9472; #8805;s. Rather, the events
that had lead up to the proceedings of the situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He understood that Vietnam was the where the line was drawn. If he had not been stern with foreign
policy and his involvement, Khrushchev and the Russians would ride him all the way out of his
presidency. Just as Eisenhower had done, Kennedy had backed up Diem to fullest extent as well. He
believed that Diem played an intricate role in the success of the US presence within Vietnam. JFK
knew that Khrushchev had overpowered him. However, that had not fazed him. JFK knew that this
incident would not be based on leaders. It would heavily rely on counterinsurgency. In fact, JFK based
his whole foreign policy with Vietnam on counterinsurgency. JFKÁ #9472; #8805;s strong tactics
didnÁ #9472; #8805;t help him though. Events such as the Bay of PigÁ #9472; #8805;s in April of
1961 merely embarrassed him in front of the Russians. In addition, after the June 1961 meeting
between himself and Khrushchev, JFK felt quite overwhelmed by the Russian leader. After returning
home, JFK went ahead and called up the reserves, increased draft quotas, and ordered a civil defense
program. With thus in mind, JFK had a very hot hand on everything. He seemed to be very pro war
after the meeting in Vienna. However, before his assassination, JFK called for an end to the hostility,
and foresaw cooperation between Russia and the US. Nevertheless, JFKÁ #9472; #8805;s life came to
an abrupt end on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas as Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed

Electric Grid Shutdown Paper
The U.S electric power system provides power to over 300 million individuals and is comprised of
more than 200,000 miles lines of transmission, its generating capacity is over one million megawatts
and it is worth above $1 trillion (Markey Waxman, 2013). The elements of the network are greatly
interdependent and, as demonstrated by history, a system failure of a line of outage can result in fall in
other areas. Markey Waxman (2013) provides an example of a power failure that occurred on August
14, 2003 when four hanging high altitude lines of power in northern Ohio clashed into trees and shut
off. Together with an error in a computer system, the shut down lead to a flow of failures that finally
left over 50 million people in Canada and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one grid s part fails, it can lead to cascading failure phenomenon whereby the entire network
progressively collapses. Kiger (2016) noted that; for a system that relies upon several critical nodes,
like the United States electric grid, such cascading failures are pretty much unavoidable.
Ramifications of an Electric Grid Shutdown
The vulnerability caused by the electric grid shutdown creates considerable risks to the economy and
national security of the United States and also on the private businesses conducted in the nation.
Consequences on National Security
The United States electrical grid is essentially divided into three electric networks covering Texas, the
West and the East. All these networks comprise many thousands of miles of lines of transmission,
substations and power plants, a hundred year old combination of domestic utilities (Broick, 2013).
Recently the system has been modernized and thus has been experiencing cyber attack threat. The
increasing dependence on the communications based on the internet has raised the vulnerability of the
operation and control systems to hackers and spies. National security of the U.S. reported that the
Cyber spies have made a way into the electrical grid of the nation and left behind software programs
that would be applied to disrupt the system and maybe shut down areas of the network for a
considerably long period of time (Broick, 2013). A coordinated cyber attack could thus compromise
security, blackout commerce and destroy the power grid of the United

What Is Optimism Essay
As a human being living in this ruthless world, the perspective of how we see life plays great role in
the success and happiness of a person. Optimism is seeing positive aspects of life. I as an immigrant I
have had experienced the ups and downs of life to an extent where all I have to hold unto was hope
and faith. My motto in life is seeing the light in all the darkness that was surrounding me. That is how
I lived and will live. Being an optimist person has helped me to be more peaceful to myself and more
confident. Living as an immigrant in the US is really hard especially for a teenager who was growing

Analysis Of The Article On Dumpster Diving
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are one of the best days for consumers in America, because
everything is on sale with an unbelievable low price. According to CNN Money, business made over
50 billion dollars in the year of 2013 after these special sales event in America. In these special
occasions, people purchase product base on the recommendation of the media. When consumers
realized that they have no use of the product or an improved new product releases, the old product will
end up in a dumpster. Americans will create environmental problem and outbreak of resource war if
they continue wasting Earth s source base on their lavish lifestyle, in which it is supported by their
culture and the lack of appreciation. In the essay On Dumpster Diving, Lars Eighner, as a homeless
person, used his own life experience as a dumpster diver to reflect on the wastefulness of American
society. Eighner states, ...although if I could I would naturally prefer to live the comfortable consumer
life, perhaps and only perhaps as a slightly less wasteful consumer owing to what I have learned as a
scavenger (88). He pointed out how Americans are not a consumer, but a waster from a scavenger s
perspective. The comfortableness of the consumer life makes Americans think that their wasteful
action is appropriate. Eighner also points out how American, specifically adolescents does not
appreciate the things that they possess. Americans are one of the luckiest people in the world because

Inside the Cuban Culture
When one thinks of Cuba, often a negative imagine comes to mind. This is no surprise, as most
accounts of Cuba that we hear are horrible atrocities of the government of Cuba. As with most things
in life, there is more than meets the eye with Cuba. At surface value, yes Cuba seems bad, but that is
just because of the way the Cuban government and countless political struggles that the country has
faced are portrayed. The Cuban people are actually a very proud people with a strong culture. if you
looked past the communist nature of the country, Cuba is a vibrant and colorful place with a lot to

Families are very important to the Cuban community they are very close. They are so close that they
try to live close to each other. Since they are very family oriented and hard working people
grandparents often raise their grandchildren so the parents could work. But before someone could
have a family they first must meet their significant other. Traditional dating for Cubans is a thing in
the past its not very common for males to ask for permission to date a girl. Instead people are dating
and being sexually active because religion isn t very important in Cuba waiting for marriage isn t

foods eaten in Cuba are rice beans, sweet potatoes, tortilla, and cornmeal. Most foods Cubans eat are
locally grown which is very common in Cuba because of its rich soil. Due to its rich soils tropical
fruits are very easy to grow (Lifestyle: Diet). Cubans eat very healthy and they are able to stay fairly

Creature Symbolism
Towards the latter part of the novel, the Creature symbolizes the point in the human psyche when Man
starts to become inherently bad when he gains more reward from doing wrong than he does from
doing what is right. It is seen in his final moments with De Lacey s family. For a period of several
weeks, the Creature waits patiently as he observes De Lacey s family in order to connect with them
and embody their language as his own, but they eventually abandon him due to his grotesque form. In
their first interaction with each them, he sees their expression as a horror and consternation on
beholding [him], (Shelley 122)[.] Agatha and Safie faint and scream at the sight of him next to their
father as Felix proceeds to attack the Creature. At this point, the Creature is at the point of no return as
he realizes that he will never be accepted by any human and he is destined to live a life of damnation.
At this very moment, the Creature s innocence becomes so engulfed by a feeling of hatred and spite
for humanity that he believes he can, with pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its inhabitants, and
have glutted me with their shrieks and misery, (Shelley 124). Irving Buchen describes this stage in the
creature s life as an emergence of, limited evolution of a human animal who exists solely in the
hermetic seal of his individuality within a natural, not a human, environment (Buchen). This is another
way of saying that the Creature has resorted to his savage instincts: the thirst

The Shy man was a clever man because he bought a dog than he trained it so it will not bark when he hears scratch at the window. I thought that he was very quiet because in the book he did not speak much to a cop. The shy man s motivation for robbing a house was the dog backy because in the book the shy man bought a dog for 30 cents. Than he sold Blacky to man who he fixed his dog so he could sell his dog to him for about 12 cents because he was going to rob his house and he needs a dog to not bark at him when he breaks in from the window. • 3. A Study On A Fourth Month Male Child Essay Introduction The case study focuses on a 15th month male child (proband) brought by his mother to a pediatrician with inconsolable crying due to acroparathesia in the lower extremities and angiokeratomas on his skin. The mother is 30 year old Japanese healthy female (consultand) with a history of hypohydrosis. The proband has two siblings, a 6 year old sister with a mild hearing deficit in both ears and a 4 year old sister with no medical history. The consultand has two siblings, a 34 year old healthy male with a history of hypohydrosis and 19 year old sister with angiokeratomas similar to the proband. The consultand s father and uncles have passed away at young ages ranging from 42 50 due to acute myocardial infarction, renal failure or acute stroke. The proband s father is Caucasian with a history of mild hypertension. The paternal grandparents have a medical history of mild hypertension (paternal grandmother) and hypocholesteremia (grandfather). Overall, the medical and family history of the proband is consistent with X linked disease known as Anderson Fabry disease as the affected male (consulstand s father) passed his X chromosome to all of his daughters (consultand and sister). In this way, all daughters of affected males will have the gene for Anderson Fabry disease. What is Anderson Fabry disease? • 4. Caesarea Maritima Essay The site of Caesarea Maritima contains many unique challenges for archaeological excavations. In spite of this, through pottery analysis, archaeologists are able to learn about different aspects of the site. Nonetheless, Caesarea Maritima has a variety of specific challenges associated with it for archaeologists. Not only does it cover a significant section of the coastal region, but the immense harbour, over time, has been completely submerged in the sea. Along with geographical challenges, there are also historical ones. The site of Caesarea Maritima was inhabited from Hellenistic time until the Crusaders, a period spanning over 900 years. As it was continuously inhabited, the archaeological layers contain the remnants of many different cultures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the site of Tell el Hesi, Petrie noticed specific styles of pottery at different stages of the dig (Petrie 1890). By a comparison of the different pottery forms with similar pieces dated from previous sites, Petrie was able to date the surrounding material through the pottery. Significantly, by studying the pottery forms, Petrie created an association between specific dates and forms of pottery (Petrie 1891) thus created a chronology which revolutionised the archaeology of the Levant. To give an illustration of the impact which Petrie s discovery has had upon archaeology in the Levant, his chronology has been used on archaeological sites in the region throughout the past century (Cole 1984; Tushingham 1986). In Caesarea Maritima Petrie s discovery of dating a site through the pottery has assisted with dating both the city and the harbour of Sebastos. In the harbour, the discovery of pottery was interpreted as evidence that the city was importing goods via sea trade, during the 3rd century AD (Hohlfelder 1988). While excavating Caesarea Maritima the Department of Antiquities in Israel discovered that an area they were excavating was abandoned during the Arab conquest (Yeivin 1955, p. 123). Yet, because there was evidence of pottery from the eighth and ninth centuries in addition to some lamps, it was evidence that after the site had been abandoned it was resettled. Because of the discovery of Mameluke pottery, it became apparent that the site was superceded during the Crusader period (Yeivin 1955, p. 123). Petrie s discovery of the association between pottery and dating, therefore, has assisted in the archaeology of Caesarea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two major points of the manifesto explain how class relationships are defined by an era s means of production. Also, the manifesto incorporates how class struggles, or exploitation of one class by another, are motivating force behind all historical developments. If those two points are not followed then a revolution occurs and a new class emerges as the ruling one. This outcome represents the march of history which is driven by economic variables. The Manifesto argues that this development is inevitable, and the capitalism is inherently unstable. Elimination of social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is hard to argue that the text is not worth reading. I don t believe in the ideas expressed in the text, but I respect the impact that the novel has had on society. Communism was viewed as such a scary topic for most of history and it was interesting to read about it. I am not sure why the author came up with these ideas. I do know that he was the basis for the idea of communism. It is hard to say that the author did not contribute to my understanding of the topic because if he did not, then I would be considered an idiot. It is almost like getting a basketball lesson from Michael Jordon and not improving your game. The way in which the text was represented made it easy to understand. The four section format was broken down in a way so it had easy access. The most important thing that I obtained from the text is how much I am proud to be an American. I love the form of government that we have. A democracy is something that I am proud to be apart of. It also makes me proud of our government that we went out to stop the spread of communism. All ... • 7. Taking a Look at Botulism Clostridium botulinum produces toxin called Botulism neurotoxin (BoNTs) which is responsible for botulism. There are seven serotypes BoNTs of which only A, B and E are responsible for human botulism. These toxins bind to presynaptic nerve terminal of neuromuscular junction thus disrupting cellular communication resulting in muscular weakness and paralysis. Various ways were discovered for treating botulism which involve producing murine monoclonal antibodies against BoNTs. But if such antibodies are injected into human beings such antibodies would be detected as foreign entities and antibodies would be produced against monoclonal antibodies. The drawbacks of use monoclonal antibodies lead to development of antigen specific antibodies. For generating antigen specific antibodies, human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were isolated from three healthy volunteers. PBMC were then immunized with interleukins and BoNT. Invitro immunized cells were then isolated and RNA was extracted from it. The RNA was then reverse transcribed to form cDNA. The cDNA was then used for template for production of human IgG Fd (consisting heavy chain variable and constant region) and light chain fragments using specific primers. The DNA obtained by amplifying IgG Fd and light chain was digested with respective digestion enzymes and ligated into different lambda phage and cloned. The cloned lamda phage DNA was then separated by 0.8% Agarose Gel Electrophoresis. The purified gel fragments of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Battle For Yucca Mountain The Battle for Yucca Mountain. Now I am become Death, the shatterer of worlds. These words were uttered by physicist Robert Oppenheimer on July 16, 1945. He was in Alamogordo, Texas and had just witnessed the detonation of the world s first atomic bomb. Three weeks later, two similar bombs, nicknamed Little Boy and Fat Man, were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The next day, Japan surrendered to the United States, signaling the end of the Second World War (Pais Crease, 2006). Although the first nuclear weapons were relatively small, with yields equivalent to approximately 20,000 tons of dynamite, they nonetheless shocked the world, setting off an arms and energy race that would last for decades. Today, the United States sits on top of the world s largest nuclear arsenal. Nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers dominate the oceans, and over 100 nuclear power plants supply nearly 20% of the nation s power supply (Bayh Gregg, 2014). All of this nuclear production produced tremendous amounts of nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is a by product of the uranium enrichment process and the operation of nuclear power plants. One of the most common radioactive isotopes found in nuclear waste is plutonium 239, which is capable of causing cancer related fatalities for millions of people in very small amounts. • 10. Paulo Freire The Banking Concept Of Education Paulo Freire believes that the world is primarily dominated by the banking concept in regards to education. Under the banking concept, Freire describes the relationship between students and teachers as involv[ing] a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient, listening objects (the students) (216). Freire later goes on to symbolize students as empty receptacles awaiting teachers to dump their knowledge freely to fill the empty spaces. Memorization, obedience, oppression, and dominance all describe the inner workings of the banking concept. Students lose their ability to become cogitative thinkers as they memorize lectures, never speak their voice or dissent to teachers, and give all of their freedom to their professors. Students then become slaves to the classroom, and rather than a symbiotic relationship existing between students and teachers, the road is very one way. If Freire were to analyze ... The paper will end with discussing treatment for the disease. Sickle Cell Anemia Sickle Cell Anemia or Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a passed down blood disorder that attacks and destroys the red blood cells. This Disease was first discovered back in 1910. The disease was first described as a clinical entity by Herrick1 in 1910 (Anderson Ware 1932). Sickle cell sickness is brought about by a change in the hemoglobin Beta quality found on chromosome 11. Hemoglobin transports oxygen from the lungs to different parts of the body. Red platelets with typical (hemoglobin An) are smooth and round and coast through veins. Typical red platelets are round like doughnuts, and they travel through little blood tubes in the body to convey oxygen. Sickle red platelets turn out to be hard, sticky and molded like sickles used to cut wheat. At times these blood cells can become crescent shaped and have a hard time passing through small blood vessels, this keeps red blood cells and the oxygen they carry from getting to all parts of the body. This causes less blood to reach the body at this point the tissues that have not received a normal blood flow will become damaged. Individuals who have sickle cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This analysis will focus on the first two steps of the eleven step research process outline by Sekaran Bougie (Sekaran Bougie, 2010). These steps involve observation and the preliminary data gathering. Therefore, this analysis will focus mainly on the introductory information and the literature review that the analyzed study outlines in the article. Introduction In regards to conducting research for use in business, much of the research is geared toward ultimately being used as the basis for decision making. Therefore it is vital that the research follows a purely rational process to eliminate as much subjectivity as possible in order to obtain the most effective results. The first step in the research process begins with observation (Sekaran Bougie, 2010). Steam locomotive, diesel engine and the internet were two of the technological innovations that revolutionized societies in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Invented in England in 1814, Steam locomotive was one of the technological inventions that revolutionized the world. The first full scale locomotive was constructed by Richard Trevithick a British mechanical engineer in 1804 at the Penydarren Ironworks in Wales. Before then in 1797, Trevithick had constructed high pressure working models of both stationary and locomotive engines which was a success. With four driving wheels, Steam locomotive had smooth wheels operating on smooth metal rails, its success showed that enough traction could be accomplished without using gear wheels and a cogged or toothed track. The play, however, was directed and choreographed by Marcie Shapiro. It took place on December 8th and 9th, in the Mountain View Center of Performing Arts, and used the second stage. The play began in Germany, a few days before Hanukkah, and ended in New York, on the first day of Hanukkah. The first scene showed a young Jewish boy named Oskar (played by a girl) and his parents lighting the Menorah. Right after this, their house was invaded by the Nazi s. In order to protect their child, Oskar s parents sent him to New York to live with his aunt. Armed with only a picture of his relative and barely any money in his pocket, Oskar boarded a ferry and arrived in America. Once there, he received eight blessings , or people showing compassion during the holiday season. A young actor named Naomi Shanson played Oskar, and her performance was incredible. The play did not have many lines; instead, it had a lot of background music. Due to this, everyone in the cast, especially the main character, had to be extra expressive. Naomi did this amazingly; she conveyed intense feelings of sadness, wonder, relief and nervousness clearly, while barely speaking. Something that really struck me was how she used her entire body to show emotion. For example, she swung her arms, skipped and tilted her head side to side to show excitement when it snowed. • 22. Haemoglobin Synthesis In order for haemoglobin to be made from the base sequence provided, protein sysnthesis needs to occur. Consequently, two major events are involved; transcription, which makes messenger RNA (mRNA) that holds the codons that tRNA will translate into amino acids and eventually a polypeptide; and transcription, which makes polypetide chains that make proteins. In relation the hameglobin structure, the DNA (base sequence provided) partially unwinds, so it can be read. RNA polymerase enzymes attach onto the promoter reigon of the gene. The RNA polymerase assists in the complementray base pairing of free ribonucleotides with exposed bases of the template strand of DNA. Therefore, new hyrdogen bonds will be formed between the bases of DNA and the newly formed RNA molecule. When the RNA polymerase reaches the terminal reigon of the gene, hydrogen bonds break of and a newly formed mRNA strand C A U C U AA C C C C A G A G G A G is created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With that being said, this mRNA sequence codes for six codons and six amino acids. After the creation of mRNA, proteins need to be made in order to make hameglobin, through translation. The mRNA strand exits the nucleus and attaches onto a ribosominal sub unit, within the cytoplasm. Every three letters, which code for one amino acid is read, as the mRNA strand flows through the ribomsomes. Once the mRNA is positioned properly in the ribosomal sub uint, it triggers the approach for tRNA. Each tRNA (anti codon) brings one amino acid and complentary binds it with the mRNA codon. The tRNA will then drop off its amio acids, which will be attached onto the growing polypeptide chain. • 24. Comparing Genesis And The Flood Story Of Genesis Vs.... Throughout human existence, different cultures share stories that may have many meanings; from explaining why mankind exists to how a hero defeats a forest monster. Two well known stories are Genesis and Gilgamesh. Both stories contain a part where there is a flood that wipes out mankind. Although two different stories, the flood story from Genesis and the flood story from Gilgamesh share a plethora of similarities that connect the two stories. Some key similarities include the cause of the flood, the animals on the boat, and the way of how each hero in the two stories find dry land. Firstly, the reason for the floods in both stories involve the wiping out of mankind. In the story of Genesis, God believed the mankind became lawless. The Lord saw how great was man s wickedness on earth, and how every plan devised by his mind was nothing but evil all the time. (Genesis). Although God created mankind, the actions of them did not please him and he no longer believed they were worthy living on earth any longer, which concluded him creating a massive flood to wipe them out. In comparison, the flood story in Gilgamesh shares a similar storyline. The gods believed that the humans were too loud and wild; resulting to their lack of sleep. In those days the world teemed, the people multiplied, the world bellowed like a wild bull, and the great god was aroused by the clamour. (The Story of the Flood). One of the things that he discusses is skill and luck or virtĂș. He mentions in chapter six that a prudent man will always try to follow in the footsteps of great men and imitate those who have been truly outstanding, so that if he is not skillful as they, at least some of their ability may rub off on him . Ramifications of an Electric Grid Shutdown The vulnerability caused by the electric grid shutdown creates considerable risks to the economy and national security of the United States and also on the private businesses conducted in the nation. Consequences on National Security The United States electrical grid is essentially divided into three electric networks covering Texas, the West and the East. All these networks comprise many thousands of miles of lines of transmission, substations and power plants, a hundred year old combination of domestic utilities (Broick, 2013). Recently the system has been modernized and thus has been experiencing cyber attack threat. The increasing dependence on the communications based on the internet has raised the vulnerability of the operation and control systems to hackers and spies. National security of the U.S. reported that the Cyber spies have made a way into the electrical grid of the nation and left behind software programs that would be applied to disrupt the system and maybe shut down areas of the network for a considerably long period of time (Broick, 2013). • 35. Creature Symbolism Towards the latter part of the novel, the Creature symbolizes the point in the human psyche when Man starts to become inherently bad when he gains more reward from doing wrong than he does from doing what is right. It is seen in his final moments with De Lacey s family. For a period of several weeks, the Creature waits patiently as he observes De Lacey s family in order to connect with them and embody their language as his own, but they eventually abandon him due to his grotesque form. In their first interaction with each them, he sees their expression as a horror and consternation on beholding [him], (Shelley 122)[.] Agatha and Safie faint and scream at the sight of him next to their father as Felix proceeds to attack the Creature. At this point, the Creature is at the point of no return as he realizes that he will never be accepted by any human and he is destined to live a life of damnation. At this very moment, the Creature s innocence becomes so engulfed by a feeling of hatred and spite for humanity that he believes he can, with pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its inhabitants, and have glutted me with their shrieks and misery, (Shelley 124). Irving Buchen describes this stage in the creature s life as an emergence of, limited evolution of a human animal who exists solely in the hermetic seal of his individuality within a natural, not a human, environment (Buchen). This is another way of saying that the Creature has resorted to his savage instincts: the thirst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
