Board Games Research Paper
Enjoyment is key. Otherwise what s the point of playing board games? Board games bring people
together or tear them apart; sometimes it s both. When playing board games you see another side of
people that you don t usually see. People tend to get frustrated a lot because board games are meant to
be easy, right? Boards games are made to test your mental capability whilst bringing joy. It s not
always about bringing joy they can cause a lot of chaos too.
To enjoy the game, you first need to know how to play the game. Reading the rules multiple times
until you know the rules by heart will help you greatly because you won t be confused. You don t want
to be a confused person otherwise you won t enjoy yourself. If you don t know them entirely, just

The main purpose of this report is to discuss the reasons involved in Critical Infrastructure for
Australia and identify their vulnerabilities to prevent them from future attacks which can lead to
conflict.
Secondly, this report will cover the common vulnerabilities attacks that are involved in Critical
Infrastructure. These will be explained in details and will include the identification of the potential risk
of vulnerabilities that are used to offense an attack as well.
This report also includes the migration strategies to prevent further attacks and include the
identification of the risk on these potentials.
Finally, this report will suggest some recommendations for strategies for risk identification and

These are the reasons worldwide governments such as Australia are approaching and reviewing the
risks and eliminate the potential hazards in order to protect their critical infrastructure to keep running
on their system.
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System Network systems (SCADA), Distributed Control
System (DCS) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are examples of controlling their Critical
Infrastructure. Because once the hackers are able to gain access to the SCADA Network system and
sabotage the system, then the Critical Infrastructure would lead to cyberwar and chaos.
Further details about this topic will be discussed later in this research paper including the
vulnerabilities attacks that are involved in Critical Infrastructure. Potential risk vulnerabilities that are
used to make offense an attack are identified and risk and impact analysis on these potential risks to
prevent from further attacks are also identified.
2.0 Significance of the topic
2.1 Common vulnerabilities attacks in Critical Infrastructure
The vulnerabilities attacks in Critical Infrastructure can be very common; and attacks by hackers to
this infrastructure can be deadly. There are 25 vulnerabilities have been identified in critical
infrastructure. These are problematic in our society as these hackers are easy to gain infiltration and
take control of the entire critical

Negative Effects Of Music
Music can impact the lives of people drastically. Listening to music can affect your mood. Good music
and a nice long night drive can make the experience better. Sad music has an opposite effect, it brings
people down. For example a song that brings joy and happiness would be Don t Threaten Me with a
Good Time by Panic! at the Disco. A sentimental song would be See You Again by Wiz Khalifa.
Lastly The Memory by Mayday Parade would make anyone sad or a bit down. Imagine listening to a
song that everyone in the car knows the lyrics so you all sing along having a total blast. This song can
bring back some happy and fun times, being young and dumb. A song that reminds me of a moment
like this would have to be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! At the Disco. The song
talks about waking up after a party and not knowing what happen. A little into the song, it mentions
you shoulda seen what I wore I had a cane and a party hat I was king of the hologram where there s no
such thing as getting out of hand memories tend to just pop up . When you re having fun you tend to
believe that you look good and you can do whatever because most people don t think when they re
like this. Therefore it ends up with them not remembering much, but little memories. This is one of the
songs my friends and I listen to when we re in the car, and yes we all sing to it and have fun. Songs
like this can make people do things they normally wouldn t do, whether it s good or bad. It s

Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrush And The Lost Baby Poem
Imagine a time when you or someone you know has gone through loss; how alone that feeling was.
Yet, the hardship it brought did not last forever. There was always something that made life worth
living again. Life is filled with sad endings and bright, new beginnings. It is an inevitable cycle that
everyone can relate to on some level. Whether it is the ending of a life or the end of a century, both
Lucille Clifton and Thomas Hardy prove that endings can be difficult, yet there is some form of hope
within each of their poems. Hardy s The Darkling Thrush and Clifton s The Lost Baby Poem have
different styles due to the poets vastly different backgrounds, yet both poems posses a similar somber
tone throughout, with a glimmer of positivity by the end of each. Lucille Clifton and Thomas Hardy
have vastly different writing styles, which could be attributed to their dissimilar backgrounds. Clifton,
a 20th century African American poet, wrote short yet powerful poetry, and her use of lowercase type
in a large portion of her works makes her tone come off as understanding to the average reader.
Another interpretation of her use of lowercase type in The Lost Baby Poem specifically, is the idea
that Clifton was ashamed of herself and therefor did not feel worthy of writing in a distinguished
manner. My interpretation of her lack of punctuation makes her tone seem dismal and depressed.
Hardy, who comes from English descent, lived through lots of turmoil, including WWI, and his

Operation Oluja Essay
Effects and Results of Oluja
Operation Oluja is the largest military operation in Croatian history, as well as a decisive turning point
in the overall conflict on the territory of former Yugoslavia. With Operation Oluja around 14 % of the
total territory of the Republic of Croatia was liberated. Its ending and results marked the collapse of
the Greater Serbia idea of uniting all Serbian countries in former Yugoslavia and the creation of
Greater Serbia. It changed the strategic force ratio in the region, which directly influenced the bringing
of the Serbs to the negotiating table. It took the change of the strategic situation, which had been
brought about by Croatian military successes, to create the conditions for the implementation of US
led peacekeeping initiatives of USA, Germany, France, Great Britain and Russia , as well as for the
signing of the Dayton Agreement and a complete cessation of military operations in Croatia and BiH.
Operation Oluja inflicted a total defeat on the SVK, while the VRS was de facto on the verge of
collapse. By unblocking the Bihać enclave in western Bosnia, Oluja relieved the forces of the 5th
Corps of ARBiH from the complete encirclement and facilitated its engagement on other territories in
Bosnia, all of which speeded up the process of forcing the Serbs to ... Show more content on

Angela Davis points to workers centers like Asian Immigrant Women Advocates, and lives but not

immigrant workers and because entrepreneurs are often part of the problem, these efforts will
automatically lead to inter ethnic alliances. Inter ethnic anti racism enables many aggrieved groups to
focus on oppression, and may show that racialized groups are not just at a disadvantage but are being
taken advantage of. Inter ethnic anti racism is one way we can see the world as another perspective,
rather than our false interpretations. The years 2000 2004 have been a critical moment for everyone, of

Leader: Subway franchisees have found a way to ensure a safe and consistent supply chain by using
an Internet based supply management system. Subway s Independent Purchasing Cooperative, which
is owned by the chain s North American franchisees, has been using supply chain software since the
end of 2001 and rolled out the food quality component, called Qualitynet, in 2004. Miami based IPC
manages the supply chain from manufacturers through the distribution centers and into the 24,000
stores. Its responsibilities include negotiating pricing, maintaining relationships and managing quality.

By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an
end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production
and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old system,
with bakeries running at 110 percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread
plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location
of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple what if scenarios to come up with the most efficient
network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest
Baking, deployed state of the art, fully automated systems to allow for increased production and
greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C. and Centralia,
Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway s vendors to double the
efficiency of bread line capacity while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H.
Robinson reevaluate the bread sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in manufacturing
costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely
with Subway s marketing and product development managers to support new demand. The $5 foot
long promotion, for example, led to a 20 percent increase in sales. That caused a 48 percent

Analysis Of The Article Gold Kiwifruit Consumed With An...
Introduction
In this paper the article entitled Gold kiwifruit consumed with an iron fortified breakfast cereal meal
improves iron status in women with low iron stores: a 16 week randomised controlled trial by Beck et
al., 2010 will be critically appraised. This article investigates whether women s Fe status could be
improved by consuming a Fe fortified breakfast cereal and milk with gold kiwifruit (high in ascorbic
acid, lutein and zeaxanthin) compared with consuming the same breakfast with banana (low in
ascorbic acid, lutein and zeaxanthin) with low Fe stores, each day for 16 days. Iron deficiency is a
common health problem with symptoms such as fatigue, lack of concentration, weakness, headache,
and increased risk of infection. Women are at greatest risk of developing iron deficiency due to
monthly menstrual blood loss and increased needs during pregnancy. A Fe fortified breakfast cereal
that enhances absorption and improves Fe status is an easy approach to address iron deficiency and its
symptoms in women. A critical evaluation of the study to show its validity is therefore useful.

Educational Psychology Class Analysis
In the first week of the second semester starts on my long road of potentially becoming a teacher. My
Educational Psychology class had me thinking and analyzing the issues in the world specifically
education. I have always known that there are issues in the world of education but I didn t know some
of the issues are close to home such as our community of De Pere. The issues, conversations we talked
about included the high rates of poverty in children, America s drum major instinct, and the
opportunity gap. All these issues pose a significant issue in our educational system and lives of
children.
Before I get into the detail of what I have learned over the course of three class periods I would like to
address how blessed and thankful I am. While I always try to tell myself that it can always be worse or
that there are many other individuals who are struggling to live. I do not always follow that lesson.
However, by watching videos, in addition with the readings and our class lectures helped me remind
myself of the daily struggles people live by. I will admit I m not the individual who lives in a gated
community and has their own car but I have never had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opportunity gap is a difference in scores based off two groups. The two groups can be designated
between ethnicity, gender, and economic status. In the state of Wisconsin, standardized tests and the
graduation rate is used to measure the opportunity gap. For example, in third grade reading African
American students scored 26.6 percent lower than Caucasian students in proficient reading. While I m
not exactly a fan of the concept of measuring students learning by standardized tests the gaps do stay
consistent with graduation rates. In the 2012 2013 high school Graduation Class measured in four
years that African American students had a 27.6 percent lower than Caucasian Students. Before the

Plato On Censorship

Plato on Censorship
Since the rise of man, the concept of art has also arisen. With it, the goods and troubles it causes.
Some argue that art is good and is only entertainment, while others see it as the cause of a State s
corruption. In Plato s The Republic , Socrates thought that art should be censored because of its heavy
influence on men. Writer Alexander Nehamas, on the other hand, feels that one generation s
entertainment is the next s fine art, which he thinks is ridiculous to censor. But the biggest question
that remains is: when does art stop being art?
Platonic censorship is based mainly on excluding forms of art and literature from society, based on the
components they include that portray bad role models and blasphemies, topics not ... Show more

The fact is that the works of both Homer and Aeschylus, whatever else they were in classical Athens,
were, first and foremost, popular entertainment. (Nemaha, 3) Nemaha says that entertainment was
basically just a representation of their world. To compare the Iliad... to Grand theft auto...may seem
silly if not absurd (Nemaha, 4) Nehama restates that fine art is meant to change people, and
entertainment is just to please. Art should not be censored it allows us to express ourselves, and a
world without imagination would be a dull one, with depraved life .
My personal opinion is that art should NOT be censored. It is good to have bad art in order to show
the youth what is not acceptable and what is. This way we can create a better future for the children
without leaving them so hopelessly innocent minded. In another way, I think you should not be able to
label someone else s work as good or bad art. I, just like article writer Jeff Goins, think, what is not
okay is calling something art when it s not when it is, in fact, something else. (Jeff

Relationship Development In Blindness
Relationship Developments in Jose Saramago s Blindness
Being isolated from the rest of the world can potentially have psychological effects on the way one
would look at the world or themselves. The characters in the novel Blindness are quarantined because
of the epidemic. Therefore their minds begin to deteriorate thus creating a downfall in humanization.
Even though the characters face challenges, they overcome them by building relationships with one
another. The relationships between the characters in the novel Blindness by Jose Saramago, initially
begin as hostile, evolving into open relationships, and ending in developing into memorable
relationships.

The writer had tons of books and pieces he wrote in his study and one night the doctor s wife decided
that it would be a good idea to not think about the actuality of the epidemic. And that night, as was
only right, she read to all of them a few pages from a book she had gone to fetch from the study
(Saramago 294). By reading to the others, it shows that she cared for how they were feeling. Just for a
few minutes she took away the agony of blindness. While listening to the doctor s wife read, they [the
rest of the group] would forget about the epidemic and it allowed their minds to drift off and think
about something else.
The girl with the dark glasses is a prime example of ending the novel with a memorable relationship.
She always looked up to the doctor s wife. You are beautiful, said the girl with the dark glasses, How
do you know, since you have never seen me, I have dreamt of you twice (Saramago 281). This quote
explains that the girl with the dark glasses thought highly of the doctor s wife. She admired the doctor

Second we analysis the macro economy of HK and the anticipated effect on Disney HK s operating
profits. As the tiger of Asia, Hong Kong has a free market economy low taxes, unrestricted capital
movement, stable HK$ linked to US$. What s more, HK s economy was based on services, tourism
and trading. According to data in Exhibit1, the number of visitors is 1570 times its local population in
1999, with an amount of 10.7 billion. Although we see the financial crisis had an impact on tourism,
but it recovered quickly from 11.7 billion in 1996 to 9.6 billion in 1998 then back to 10.7 billion in
1999. We anticipate a further recovery as the economy warm up. As a tourist resort, Hong Kong
Disneyland has high profit potential.
In a word, the relative exposure of credit risk is low.
* Syndicate risk
Hong Kong Disneyland asked for full underwriting. If the syndication is not successful under
subscription, Chase would end up holding too much loans and higher credit exposure to the project.
For example, if there is only one arranger and single stage general syndication, the max exposure of
Chase would be the total amount $HK 3.3 billion in an extreme case when nobody comes to commit
for the loan.
However, a senior HK government official underscored the government s commitment to the project
at Asia Pacific Loan Market Association Conference, there is a high potential of success syndication
since other banks observed the government s backing on this project.

The Yellow Wall Paper ( Postpartum Depression )
The yellow wall paper was written in the 1800 s during that time women were vastly expected to serve
their husband as housewives, not given the right to vote, make decision for themselves, work and even
make enough money to support themselves. The husband is a doctor, while the wife suffers from
severe mental illness. This is a husband who loves his wife and taught he was doing what was right to
get her in a stable condition but unfortunately he made her become crazier, due to lack of stimulation.
The Yellow Wall Paper symbolizes slowly tearing the walls of freedom for women.
The narrator falls into a state of deep depression following the birth of her baby, which is currently
known now as postpartum depression. During the 1800 s they called it temporary nervous depression
a slight hysterical tendency a diagnosis common to women during that era. There was little or no
knowledge for the treatment of postpartum depression. The doctors used rest cure as a form of
treatment, the patient is prohibited from doing any kind of work. All they need is to rest, exercise, eat
well and get enough air then they will recover. No external stimulation which lead to the deterioration
of the narrator s mental health in the story. She is ordered by her husband and brother, who are
respected physicians to rest. She is isolated from everyone except her husband John and her sister in
law Jennie the house keeper. Locked in a room with yellow wall paper, windows facing all direction,

The Theme of Freedom in The Adventures of Huckleberry...
Freedom is what defines an individual, it bestows upon someone the power to act, speak, or think
without externally imposed restraints. Therefore, enslavement may be defined as anything that
impedes one s ability to express their freedoms. However, complete uncompromised freedom is
virtually impossible to achieve within a society due to the contrasting views of people. Within Mark
Twain s 1885 novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, numerous controversies are prevalent
throughout the novel, primarily over the issue of racism and the general topic of enslavement. The

indirect form of slavery in which Huck is forced to do as society and his elders dictate regardless of

that he needs to relocate himself as far away from society as possible. Therefore, he forges his death

The Pros And Cons Of Makah Whaling
Introduction
The debate surrounding Makah whaling is a heated one to say the least. There are valid points on both
sides of the argument, but there is one side I find to be more valid once the facts have been looked at. I
will examine and present my findings regarding past and current laws and regulations related to
whaling, types of whaling, other countries that take an active part in whaling (and why), as well as the
Makah culture both past and present. In this paper I will argue why the Makah should not be allowed
to resume whaling, as it is unnecessary and could potentially put the grey whale species back on the
endangered list.
The International Whaling Commission (IWC)
In 1946 a group of 15 nations gathered together to sign a treaty aimed at conserving the whale
population following their strong concern regarding the over hunting of whales. The treaty led to the
creation of an oversight body known as the International Whaling Commission (IWC) that was
created under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. The Convention is intended

there have been reports that the Makah have reached out to whalers from Japan and Norway for

were strong advocates for anti colonialism and nationalism. Their attitudes can be described by this
quote from Frantz Fanon who said, what matters is not to know the world but to change it. They may
have been active during different times in history, but they both took action to see that the countries
they represented were run in an anti colonialistic and nationalistic way. A few questions that may arise
though is why did both of these men feel so strongly, what actions did they take to make sure that their
countries were run the right way, and what impact did they have on decolonization? To fully
understand these men and their actions, understanding what they believed is key. The term nationalism
describes both the attitude of someone that takes pride in their nation and its identity, and the actions
that are taken to ensure their country s autonomy (Miscevic). Most people that have a nationalistic
belief feel as though their country should be self sufficient and maximize their resources. The term
anti colonialism is used to describe an opposition to the term colonialism, but you may wonder what
does colonialism mean? Colonialism is a term that describes the practice of domination (Kohn). This

Durkheim Individualism Suicide
In his work On Suicide that was published originally in 1897, Durkheim addresses four specific forms
and triggers of suicide. These are not considered to be ideal types in his belief but they can be
measured in social situations (Walsh, 27/09/16, s. 6 8). It is within all of these four extreme types that
suicide rates are the highest. The first of these is named egoistic suicide. According to Durkheim,
egoistic suicide occurs when an individual is not integrated or invested in society at all, their life is
overly individualistic. This form of suicide and individuality can be associated with the term organic
solidarity. Organic solidarity is used in more modern, industrialized organized societies where the
individual starts to see themselves as unique and the focal point of importance rather than being
connected to this large conglomerate of people. An egoistic person does not affiliate strongly with any
form of institution that would offer stability or community in their life. He often associates egoistic
suicide with religious affiliations, especially Protestantism (Durkheim, 2006: 156). Due to the core
values of the Protestant religion being on the emphasis of individualism and interpreting the sacred
texts on your own, there is a gap ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fatalistic suicide is the process of being overly regulated by a society or an institution; this is the

Music Essay On Music And The Power Of Music
Song Essay The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before. Throughout history
music has been a way for our people to speak out against the government or follow their commands.
There is a great irony that a lot of these songs nowadays all tie together to portray the same message,
and this is not a coincidence. Today, hip hop has taken the lead in protesting police brutality and the
injustices suffered by the poor. Within the selection of songs, the audience can see how the
government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much racism going on today. Joey s song,
Temptations, explores the issue of racial equality and the struggle of being black in America. Growing
up in a poor neighborhood not having your rent on time because your mom works a nine to five job
that s just enough to make a living as a result of how the government has set up the average person to
be, I really came up from the bottom / Strugglin , my momma on her last dollar / Hustling man I ve
been putting in these hours / The government been trying to take away what s ours (line 18 21). In this
song, Badmon describes how young men are killing one another, and figure that is the way to go about
things because of culture but fail to really see what they are doing as well as who they are hurting. He
also mentions how people make an example out of killing someone rather than spreading positivity
and leaves you with the question of are you willing to make the sacrifice, to make a

Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
It is a Trap
It is just as easy to fall into the trap of our voyeuristic society today as it was for the people of the
1950 s. In Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window voyeurism is a major theme conveyed throughout the
movie. J.B. Jefferies, Lisa, and Stella prove that human fascination with voyeurism is not only
addicting, but over time becomes contagious and emotionally detrimental.
In the beginning of the movie the audience is introduced to the main character, J.B. Jeffries. After an
injury at work, Jefferies is stuck in his apartment with little to do. This is when the idea of voyeurism
is first seen in the movie. According to Google Books, voyeurism is the observation of another person
doing a private act. J.B. spends his time looking out his window doing just that. He peers into his
neighbors apartments and watches as they live their everyday lives. He thinks he has each of his
neighbors figured out just by watching them through their windows. By the middle of the movie
Jefferies becomes so addicted to being a voyeur that he feels the need to be closer. He therefore
achieves this need by using his camera lens and telescope to look closer into the other rooms. When
this addiction of Jefferies first starts off, both Stella, his nurse, and Lisa, his girlfriend, did not
approve. Lisa and Stella find it extremely odd of Jeffries to have become so hooked to being a voyeur
that he needs to stay up late into the night just to watch his neighbors lives unfold. By the end of

Accounting Scandals And Enron Accounting Scandal
Introduction:
In this research paper I will be examining accounting scandals, specifically the Enron Accounting
Scandal. First, I will be exploring the history of Enron. Then I will be going into further depth on what
accounting issues Enron faced and then I will be explaining what a derivative is. Finally yet
importantly, I will consider the different types of Accounting Fraud following a conclusion.
Accounting Scandals are born due to collective greed and corporate arrogance. In the case of Enron
there was a lot of euphoria before the downfall. Stock prices soared and Enron was seen as one of the
most innovative companies in the world. However, things seemed too good to be true. Eventually the
company was exposed for its wrongdoing which led to the collapse. Many more of such cases were
exposed during the 2008/2009 recession such as the Lehmann Brothers scandal. As mentioned earlier,
many financial scandals have happened in the past but none of those are nearly as bad as the scandals
when it gets to trading in derivatives.
Summary of the Enron Accounting Scandal:
In the year of 1985 after the federal deregulation of natural gas pipelines, Enron was born. The
company was formed by merging the following two companies: Houston Natural Gas and InterNorth,
a Nebraska pipeline company.
In the process of the merger, Enron incurred massive debt and, as the result of deregulation, no longer
had exclusive

Individualism In The Vikings
While the Viking Era was rather brief, these infamous Scandinavian brutes left a mark in history larger
than they themselves were tall.
The Vikings emerged from the present day area in Northern Europe known as Scandinavia, which
consists of the countries of Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Named for their legendary raids, the name
Viking is said to mean a pirate raid and originates from a dead language called Old Norse , which was
the native tongue of the Vikings.
Contrary to the widely Christian beliefs of the rest of medieval Europe, the Vikings held pagan
religious belief, meaning that they were polytheistic and believed in many gods. These beliefs were
flexible and corresponded to each individual Viking.

her into a witch because she has a child without a husband. This Rhoda Brook is a typical victim of
Hardy s short stories, isolated and an outcast of society from an early age after being used and left by
Farmer Lodge. She doesn t even get any respect from her son, which was probably due to a bad
upbringing, due to her obsession with Farmer Lodge ever since he discarded her. When we join the

The Importance Of Servant Leadership As A Pastor
The Importance of Servant Leadership in a Pastor Jay Marlowe When it comes to looking at the
qualifications for a pastor, the question that comes to my mind is How important is servant leadership
is to him? Aside from the educational preparation and pastoral internship training, having a sincere,
humble heart is essential. The Bible tells us in Mark 10:42 45(ESV) 42 And Jesus called them to him
and said to them, You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and
their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would
be great among you must be your servant, [a] 44 and whoever would be first among you must be
slave[b] of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many. One can have all of the necessary scholastic credentials, but if there isn t a sincere
heart for serving man, it is all in vain. A pastor can fall to his flesh if he does not keep a meek, truthful
relationship with God. He can easily fall to the power of the position. Having power and authority
over individuals can certainly lead to having a prideful attitude. The enemy attacks the church in all
manners; a pastor is not immune to the temptations that come with being in authority. A pastor can
have a person that that he is accountable to can support the pastor through difficult times. Philippians

Literary Review of Sexuality and Gender in Science Fiction...
Literary Review
My argument is that SF literature offers a utopian hope for the future where individual differences are
no longer criticized. To conduct this literature review I used multiple information sources to examine
issues of gender and sexuality within science fiction literature. None of these sources claim to have
produced a conclusive work on the interpretation of gender and sexuality in SF. Some of what I have
read seems to be a general overview while some is more focused, but everything clearly references
other theorists, studies and texts to back up the arguments made.

In other words feminist SF is an effective and powerful means for feminist visionary developments
that are crucial for the initial attempts to embark on the cultural and social changes that are the goals
for the feminist political enterprise. Hollinger discusses Le Guin s view that feminist SF doesn t
prophecy the future but it refers to the world as it is. This is interesting because it emphasises this idea
that the SF can explore such issues of gender and sexuality in reality.
Hollinger references works such as The Female Man, Bloodchild , The Left Hand of Darkness and
Women on the Edge of Time together with people like Donna Harraway, Teresa de Lauretis and Judith
Butler. In addition to the well known feminist utopian works of the 70 s Hollinger also mentions
Helen O Loy, which is an early masculine focused novel. We see the importance of feminist SF when
we read about works such as this, because the contrast shows that some SF writers obviously didn t
identify the historical possibility and cultural traditionalism of our notions regarding gender and
sexual identity and the roles of men and women. Hollinger brings together plenty of evidence to back
up her points about feminist theory and SF making for a comprehensive essay.

Models Of Development Effort Estimation
Models of Development Effort Estimation
Introduction
Development effort estimation is often among the first steps when considering a software engineering
project. Estimation is crucial for determining the value of a project: whether it will be a project that is
able to be completed, a project that is worth pursuing, and a project that is economically justified. A
reasonable and informed cost estimate can only be reported to a customer after effort estimation
analysis has been performed.
Formal models, created to improve the accuracy of effort estimation, date back as early as the 1960s
when computer software was still in its youth. In recent decades, more flexible alternatives to the hard
and fast formal models have been offered. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New techniques simply haven t improved the results much. Jorgensen says that comparisons between
estimation accuracy between now and the 1980s show about the same figures.3
There are two main categories of software development effort estimation: model based estimation and
expert judgment, with model based estimation often broken up into subcategories. The first part of this
paper will discuss the most traditional techniques for model based estimation using statistical
regression analysis. Then, the value of expert analysis will be discussed. Next, newer methods of
modeling and estimating development effort will be examined, followed by a look at effort estimation
in the agile field.
Early Models: Regression and Function Point Analysis
Model based effort estimation for software development began with research conducted in the mid
sixties identifying characteristics of software projects. At first, partial models based on the researched
attributes were used. Software development was still young and the push for efficiency in software
creation had not caught up to the focus on hardware. As software complexity continued to rise in the
seventies, more advanced and complicated models were produced.4
Parametric regression models are among the earliest types of models used for software effort
estimation.5 They have also been one of the most studied

A Writers Style
A Writers Style The Pulitzer Prize winning writer N. Scott Momaday has become known as a very
distinctive writer who depicts the stories of the Native American life in almost poetic ways. He does
an excellent job of transporting the reader from the black and white pages of a book, to a world where
every detail is pointed out and every emotion felt when reading one of Momaday s books or other
writings. This style of writing that Momaday uses is very evident in his work The Way to Rainy
Mountain, and made even more apparent by reading a review of the book House Made of Dawn found
on a web site run by HarperCollins Publishers. Throughout the essay The Way to Rainy Mountain ,
Momaday uses very descriptive words, which brings the places ... Show more content on

This might have been avoided if Momaday had made it clearer that the focus of the story was on the
Kiowa people and not his journey back to see his grandmother s grave. Once I understood this aspect
though, I was able to completely appreciate the story and imagery for what it was. This was a slight
downside of Momaday s writing, however he was able to pull it all together and make it less of a
distraction in the end. Another characteristic of Momaday s writings is how they involve change. For
example, in his essay of The Way to Rainy Mountain, the whole story is based around him returning
home to see his grandmothers grave. However, the point of the story is to tell the history of his people,
the Kiowa people, and how they came to settle on the land known as Rainy Mountain. As he tells this
story, Momaday also shows how the present times have changed from what he remembers of the past.
How his grandmother s house would be alive when so many of his people would be gathered there and
now it lies so empty and quiet as the times have changed. Momaday s book House Made of Dawn also
talks about change in the world for the Native Americans. The main character of the story, Abel, faces
the difficult challenge of deciding whether to leave his family and history behind. So that he might
find his place in the modernized post World War II country. He decides to face the new

that amount of money won t fall from heaven when you want it, right? I m sure, you don t want to fail,

Limited high altitude plants are available for any type of garden including a rock garden. At high
altitude, some plants can burn their leaves easily because they re closer to the sun. Many rock garden
plants that are listed as perennials at sea level, are actually annuals at high altitude. A high altitude
rock garden is one of the simplest gardens to create and can make a not so good looking area of your

regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States,
the word marriage means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife,
and the word spouse refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife (sec 3).
Until recently 2013, the US Supreme Court finally delivered the verdict that declared section 3 of the
DOMA, which is the rejection of right to gay marriage is unconstitutional (Shapiro 208). In Gay
Marriage Is A Fundamental Right by Nathan Goetting, The right to many, and to marry the person of
one s choice, is a fundamental right and a necessary aspect of human happiness. This has been an
explicitly stated abiding principle since the Court used its power of judicial review to strike down as
unconstitutional a legislature s definition of marriage in 1967. Currently, 17 states in the United States
have legalized the right to same sex marriage. The realization of DOMA is unconstitutional has further
evidenced that gay marriage is one of the civil right that should not be taken away by the government,
and it is an inevitable changes that open doors for equality and equity.
The US government has acknowledged that the right to

The Importance Of Cultural Differences In Health Care
Today s society is a mix of all the nations, languages, traditions, beliefs and cultures. The diversity of
values is what makes society stronger, interesting, more or less acceptable to some forms of foreign
influence in one way or another. In general, the assimilation process into society goes with an
intermittent level of success, cultural differences arise when dealing with certain aspects of life. In
healthcare, people are interacting within very close physical distance, discussing intimate health
details, present at the at happy (childbirths) or tragic (death) moments, where stress can bring patients
and their families to an edge, those deep rooted cultural differences can be seen without any cultural
shields.
Cultural sensitivity and awareness is a very important aspect of modern healthcare. It works well if
staff members are aware of another cultural viewpoint and able to integrate it while providing care
(Burkhardt Nathaniel, 2014). Nursing staff, in particular, spend more time with patients than any other
provider in the health care system. Therefore, they should pay close attention when attending to
patients born in different countries, raised in in different cultures or patients whose views are distinctly
different from the caregiver s perspective.
In the emergency department, patients represent all different levels of society, gender, and sexual
orientation. Nursing staff must be aware that some patients do not see certain treatment modalities as
acceptable

Civil War In Arkansas Essay
Civil War in Arkansas
The Battle of Prairie Grove was on 1862, northwestern Arkansas and southwestern Missouri. The
Union when a force called for General James G.Blunt holds off a force of Confederates under General
Thomas Hindman. Hindman joined in force at Fort Smith, Arkansas, to make an attempt to recapture
territory lost during the Pea Ridge campaign of early 1862. When Hindman sent an advance
detachment of cavalry under John Marmaduke in a minor engagement at Cane Hill. After Cane Hill,
Hindman marched his 11,000 man army across the Boston Mountains and Approached Blunt s 5,000
Troops. Hindman prepared to attack, but it was surprised by the approach of Union reinforcements
from Missouri. Union General Francis Herron had marched 7,000 ... Show more content on

The two armies lost about 2,700 soldiers who were wounded, killed, or missing in action. The battle
was a tactical draw, but a strategic Union victory as the Federals would maintain control of Missouri
and northwest Arkansas for the remainder of the war. Unfortunately, there would be plenty of guerrilla
warfare in the region with bushwhackers (Southern supporters) and jayhawkers (Union supporters)
destroying the countryside and forcing many families to become refugees from the conflict. It would
take many years for the people to recover from the effects of the Civil War. Nearly a month after
initiating their campaign against Confederates in southwest Missouri, Gen. Samuel R. Curtis Union
Army of the Southwest had pushed into Arkansas and established a defensive position on the bluffs
overlooking Little Sugar Creek. At the same time, Gen. Earl Van Dorn was appointed to take
command of Confederate forces in the trans Mississippi with the objective of destroying Curtis and his
12,000 Federals. Rather than attack Curtis fortifications, Van Dorn proposed to march around the
Union right flank, near Pea Ridge. In the course of the maneuver, however, the Southern forces were
divided. Van Dorn s two wings, under generals Benjamin McCullough and Sterling Price, were
separated by Pea Ridge, and subsequently compelled to fight two distinct actions, with neither wing

Advantages Of Reflexive Standardization Of The Information...
According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting efforts to
bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive results, negative
results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a result of failing to be
planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the Norwegian hospital; the
development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a fragmented record of
databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they were accessed and as a
result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a development team to redesign
the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to centralize the database and create
several views for different system users to view these records. This was deemed to be the reflexive
standardization of the information system. It had both advantages and disadvantages as discussed.
Necessity and Advantages
The proverbial elephant in the room was the scattering of records and the need to ... Show more

Most are not able to fully imitate a traditionally synchronized system such as an hospital. They thus
offer the necessary support to these systems instead of fully taking over their functions. In this case,
the systems present seemed to hinder the proper functioning of the hospital to its optimal potential. It
did not do much to increase service delivery thus came off as a hindrance to the success of the hospital
s functions. The system was also deemed by Ole Hanseth (2010) as a complex system. The word
complex is defined with respect to the ability of the new practitioners to understand the use of the
system. By being complex, the system fails in its quest to become a better solution as opposed to
traditional record keeping

Film Analysis Of Vertigo
Vertigo (1958) is frequently considered director Alfred Hitchcock s greatest film. It is the story of a
melancholy police officer, Scottie (James Stewart), forced to retire after his vertigo caused a tragic
accident. A friend, Gavin, tries to capitalize on Scottie s skills, so Gavin asks Scottie to follow his
unstable wife. By accident, Scottie falls in love with this wonderfully mysterious woman, Madeleine.
Scottie does not realize, however, that he is falling prey to an elaborate scheme set up by Gavin which
will make it appear like Madeleine kills herself. Scottie was unable to get to the wife before she
jumped out a window because of his vertigo.
Unaware of the scheme, Scottie feels responsible for the death and falls into a terrible mental state.
His friend, Midge, tries to pull him out of it, but to no avail. Finally, one day, Scottie spots a woman
that looks like Madeleine on the street. He follows her to her home and asks too many questions. She
knows who he is, but she can t reveal that he was just a pawn in a terrible crime. Scottie is relentless
and finally the look alike, Judy (Kim Novak) agrees to date him. Scottie proceeds to control every
aspect of Judy so that she looks like Madeleine. He changes her hair and clothes. He falls in love with

Hitchcock s direction was always top notch, but here, he created a new technique to demonstrate
Scottie s vertigo that is truly mesmerizing. Every shot is thoughtful and well crafted. Jimmy Stewart
plays the obsessed Scottie so well that it is actually disturbing. And though Kim Novak was, at times,
criticized for a stiff performance, more people now realize that she embodies the terrified, abused,
accessory to murder perfectly. The performance of Gavin is the weakest of the film, but he is not the
focus, so it does not affect the overall affect much. Holistically, the performances and directorial
choices are

You Tube Video Marketing Has Changed Dramatically Over The...
You Tube video marketing has changed significantly over the years. One recent significant change is
the merge between TrueView and AdWords for video. Before we look at the merger and how it will
affect video marketing, let us briefly look at each of these concepts:
TrueView
This is an advertising format for You Tube videos. You only get to pay only if a viewer watches your
video. You are therefore able to reach a targeted audience. Two TrueView formats are available: in
stream and in display.
In stream
These ads play before a video. They can also play when another video is playing. The viewers can
choose to skip the ad after 5 seconds. If they watch for 30 seconds or more, you pay for the ad.
In display
These ads are among other videos on You Tube. They can also be found on You Tube search pages, or
even on websites on the Google Display Network. You only pay when a viewer chooses to watch the
video, that is, when they click on the ad.
Google AdWords for video
This marketing format allows for the displaying of video ads in You Tube search results, before,
during, and after videos have played on You Tube or on the Google Display Network. Unlike
traditional AdWord campaigns, you use demographic targeting, which helps you reach your target
audience.
The two You Tube video marketing formats, TrueView and AdWords for video, seem to be similar at
face value. This is because to create and even manage TrueView video campaigns, you had to access a
special section within AdWords

Hodgkin Lymphoma
Researchers are still trying to understand the etiology of Hodgkin s lymphoma.1 Researchers have
identified certain risk factors that increase the chance of getting the disease. For example, infection
with the Epstein Barr virus (EBV) increases the risk of getting Hodgkin lymphoma; however, the
overall risk of getting Hodgkin s is still small even with a previous EBV infection. It is unclear what
role EBV plays in the development of Hodgkin s lymphoma since many people are infected with EBV
each year but very few actually develop Hodgkin s lymphoma. Moreover, one in three patients with
Hodgkin s have EBV in the malignant Reed Sternberg cells, which are the cancer cells involved in
Hodgkin disease. However, others with the disease have no evidence ... Show more content on

Hodgkin s lymphoma has unique malignant mononucleated Hodgkin and multinucleated Reed
Stemberg cells or Hodgkin/Reed Stemberg [HRS] cells, which make up a small fraction of cells in
affected lymph nodes.4 These cells are embedded in an infiltrate of reactive hematopoietic cells. They
are composed of T and B lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils and are usually non malignant.
The malignant HRS cells do not contain a phenotype that can allow it to be assigned to a defined
hematopoietic cell type; therefore, their origin has been debated. HRS cells are mostly derived from
germinal center or post GC B cells and have lost the B cell specific gene expression program, unlike
other B cell derived lymphomas where the gene cell pattern shows the differentiation stage of the
origin. It is unclear how these cells survive since these types of cells usually undergo apoptotic cell
death. Additionally, there have been a number of molecular defects in HRS cells that have been
identified. These include activation of the transcription factors nuclear factor kapp B, members of the
STAT signaling pathway, activator protein 2, and deregulated NOTCH1 signaling.4 The deregulation
of these pathways is found in most HRS cells in nearly all cases of Hodgkin s lymphoma. This points
to the relevance of these pathways for HRS cell survival, regulation, and growth of HRS cell specific
gene

  • 4. Negative Effects Of Music Music can impact the lives of people drastically. Listening to music can affect your mood. Good music and a nice long night drive can make the experience better. Sad music has an opposite effect, it brings people down. For example a song that brings joy and happiness would be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! at the Disco. A sentimental song would be See You Again by Wiz Khalifa. Lastly The Memory by Mayday Parade would make anyone sad or a bit down. Imagine listening to a song that everyone in the car knows the lyrics so you all sing along having a total blast. This song can bring back some happy and fun times, being young and dumb. A song that reminds me of a moment like this would have to be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! At the Disco. The song talks about waking up after a party and not knowing what happen. A little into the song, it mentions you shoulda seen what I wore I had a cane and a party hat I was king of the hologram where there s no such thing as getting out of hand memories tend to just pop up . When you re having fun you tend to believe that you look good and you can do whatever because most people don t think when they re like this. Therefore it ends up with them not remembering much, but little memories. This is one of the songs my friends and I listen to when we re in the car, and yes we all sing to it and have fun. • 5. Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrush And The Lost Baby Poem Imagine a time when you or someone you know has gone through loss; how alone that feeling was. Yet, the hardship it brought did not last forever. There was always something that made life worth living again. Life is filled with sad endings and bright, new beginnings. It is an inevitable cycle that everyone can relate to on some level. Whether it is the ending of a life or the end of a century, both Lucille Clifton and Thomas Hardy prove that endings can be difficult, yet there is some form of hope within each of their poems. Hardy s The Darkling Thrush and Clifton s The Lost Baby Poem have different styles due to the poets vastly different backgrounds, yet both poems posses a similar somber tone throughout, with a glimmer of positivity by the end of each. Lucille Clifton and Thomas Hardy have vastly different writing styles, which could be attributed to their dissimilar backgrounds. Clifton, a 20th century African American poet, wrote short yet powerful poetry, and her use of lowercase type in a large portion of her works makes her tone come off as understanding to the average reader. Another interpretation of her use of lowercase type in The Lost Baby Poem specifically, is the idea that Clifton was ashamed of herself and therefor did not feel worthy of writing in a distinguished manner. My interpretation of her lack of punctuation makes her tone seem dismal and depressed. Hardy, who comes from English descent, lived through lots of turmoil, including WWI, and his ... • 6. Operation Oluja Essay Effects and Results of Oluja Operation Oluja is the largest military operation in Croatian history, as well as a decisive turning point in the overall conflict on the territory of former Yugoslavia. With Operation Oluja around 14 % of the total territory of the Republic of Croatia was liberated. Its ending and results marked the collapse of the Greater Serbia idea of uniting all Serbian countries in former Yugoslavia and the creation of Greater Serbia. It changed the strategic force ratio in the region, which directly influenced the bringing of the Serbs to the negotiating table. It took the change of the strategic situation, which had been brought about by Croatian military successes, to create the conditions for the implementation of US led peacekeeping initiatives of USA, Germany, France, Great Britain and Russia , as well as for the signing of the Dayton Agreement and a complete cessation of military operations in Croatia and BiH. Operation Oluja inflicted a total defeat on the SVK, while the VRS was de facto on the verge of collapse. By unblocking the Bihać enclave in western Bosnia, Oluja relieved the forces of the 5th Corps of ARBiH from the complete encirclement and facilitated its engagement on other territories in Bosnia, all of which speeded up the process of forcing the Serbs to ... Inter ethnic anti racism enables many aggrieved groups to focus on oppression, and may show that racialized groups are not just at a disadvantage but are being taken advantage of. Inter ethnic anti racism is one way we can see the world as another perspective, rather than our false interpretations. The years 2000 2004 have been a critical moment for everyone, of every cultural belonging. In 2001, Al Qaeda launched a sky attack and crashed a plane on the Twin Towers, killing hundreds of innocent people. By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old system, with bakeries running at 110 percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple what if scenarios to come up with the most efficient network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest Baking, deployed state of the art, fully automated systems to allow for increased production and greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C. and Centralia, Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway s vendors to double the efficiency of bread line capacity while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H. Robinson reevaluate the bread sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in manufacturing costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely with Subway s marketing and product development managers to support new demand. The $5 foot long promotion, for example, led to a 20 percent increase in sales. • 9. Analysis Of The Article Gold Kiwifruit Consumed With An... Introduction In this paper the article entitled Gold kiwifruit consumed with an iron fortified breakfast cereal meal improves iron status in women with low iron stores: a 16 week randomised controlled trial by Beck et al., 2010 will be critically appraised. This article investigates whether women s Fe status could be improved by consuming a Fe fortified breakfast cereal and milk with gold kiwifruit (high in ascorbic acid, lutein and zeaxanthin) compared with consuming the same breakfast with banana (low in ascorbic acid, lutein and zeaxanthin) with low Fe stores, each day for 16 days. Iron deficiency is a common health problem with symptoms such as fatigue, lack of concentration, weakness, headache, and increased risk of infection. Women are at greatest risk of developing iron deficiency due to monthly menstrual blood loss and increased needs during pregnancy. A Fe fortified breakfast cereal that enhances absorption and improves Fe status is an easy approach to address iron deficiency and its symptoms in women. A critical evaluation of the study to show its validity is therefore useful. Evaluation of the introduction section Literature review An adequate number of relevant references has been used in the study with sources such as the World Health Organization, Food and Agriculture Organisation, government issued websites such as the Ministry of Health New Zealand and National Health and Medical Research Council, as well as a wide range of books and journal articles. ... • 10. Educational Psychology Class Analysis In the first week of the second semester starts on my long road of potentially becoming a teacher. My Educational Psychology class had me thinking and analyzing the issues in the world specifically education. I have always known that there are issues in the world of education but I didn t know some of the issues are close to home such as our community of De Pere. The issues, conversations we talked about included the high rates of poverty in children, America s drum major instinct, and the opportunity gap. All these issues pose a significant issue in our educational system and lives of children. Before I get into the detail of what I have learned over the course of three class periods I would like to address how blessed and thankful I am. While I always try to tell myself that it can always be worse or that there are many other individuals who are struggling to live. I do not always follow that lesson. • 11. Plato On Censorship Carlos Sandoval Mr. Guiles Honors English II 17 November 2015 Plato on Censorship Since the rise of man, the concept of art has also arisen. With it, the goods and troubles it causes. Some argue that art is good and is only entertainment, while others see it as the cause of a State s corruption. In Plato s The Republic , Socrates thought that art should be censored because of its heavy influence on men. Writer Alexander Nehamas, on the other hand, feels that one generation s entertainment is the next s fine art, which he thinks is ridiculous to censor. But the biggest question that remains is: when does art stop being art? Platonic censorship is based mainly on excluding forms of art and literature from society, based on the components they include that portray bad role models and blasphemies, topics not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact is that the works of both Homer and Aeschylus, whatever else they were in classical Athens, were, first and foremost, popular entertainment. Art should not be censored it allows us to express ourselves, and a world without imagination would be a dull one, with depraved life . My personal opinion is that art should NOT be censored. It is good to have bad art in order to show the youth what is not acceptable and what is. This way we can create a better future for the children without leaving them so hopelessly innocent minded. In another way, I think you should not be able to label someone else s work as good or bad art. The Yellow Wall Paper ( Postpartum Depression ) The yellow wall paper was written in the 1800 s during that time women were vastly expected to serve their husband as housewives, not given the right to vote, make decision for themselves, work and even make enough money to support themselves. The husband is a doctor, while the wife suffers from severe mental illness. This is a husband who loves his wife and taught he was doing what was right to get her in a stable condition but unfortunately he made her become crazier, due to lack of stimulation. The Yellow Wall Paper symbolizes slowly tearing the walls of freedom for women. The narrator falls into a state of deep depression following the birth of her baby, which is currently known now as postpartum depression. During the 1800 s they called it temporary nervous depression a slight hysterical tendency a diagnosis common to women during that era. I wanted to smoke, and asked the widow to let me. But she wouldn t. She said... I must try to not do it any more. (Twain, 2). In this particular environment, Huck is forcefully civilized by the Widow Douglas as well as Miss Watson. This essentially shows an indirect form of slavery in which Huck is forced to do as society and his elders dictate regardless of what he believes in which many of us are also subject to. This enslaves him and leads him to decide that he needs to relocate himself as far away from society as possible. Therefore, he forges his death and runs away meeting Jim on the way. This idea of Huck being controlled by society influences him through the novel, for instance he thinks about turning Jim in because it is wrong to steal since Jim is ... Anna Dalassena, the mother of the Emperor Alexius, possesses traits that make her suitable for the position of a fit ruler. Anna of Byzantium, written by Tracy Barrett is a novel describing the life of Anna Comnena through her point of view; she describes how her grandmother, Anna Dalassena, had changed her life from the royal palace to the ramshackled convent. Dalassena plans out what she needs to do in order to restore the power in her hands while maintaining her composure but makes sure to adapt to the pertaining situation. • 20. The Pros And Cons Of Makah Whaling Introduction The debate surrounding Makah whaling is a heated one to say the least. There are valid points on both sides of the argument, but there is one side I find to be more valid once the facts have been looked at. I will examine and present my findings regarding past and current laws and regulations related to whaling, types of whaling, other countries that take an active part in whaling (and why), as well as the Makah culture both past and present. In this paper I will argue why the Makah should not be allowed to resume whaling, as it is unnecessary and could potentially put the grey whale species back on the endangered list. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) In 1946 a group of 15 nations gathered together to sign a treaty aimed at conserving the whale population following their strong concern regarding the over hunting of whales. The treaty led to the creation of an oversight body known as the International Whaling Commission (IWC) that was created under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. The Convention is intended to allow for the proper conservation of whale stocks and make the established development of the whaling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comparing Frantz Fanon And Mahatma Gandhi Danielle Patton Final Paper History 1500 to Present December 4th, 2014 When you look back through time at the history of decolonization, there are many names that come to mind, but two that should be focused on are Frantz Fanon and Mahatma Gandhi. Both of these men were strong advocates for anti colonialism and nationalism. Their attitudes can be described by this quote from Frantz Fanon who said, what matters is not to know the world but to change it. They may have been active during different times in history, but they both took action to see that the countries they represented were run in an anti colonialistic and nationalistic way. A few questions that may arise though is why did both of these men feel so strongly, what actions did they take to make sure that their countries were run the right way, and what impact did they have on decolonization? To fully understand these men and their actions, understanding what they believed is key. The term nationalism describes both the attitude of someone that takes pride in their nation and its identity, and the actions that are taken to ensure their country s autonomy (Miscevic). Most people that have a nationalistic belief feel as though their country should be self sufficient and maximize their resources. The term anti colonialism is used to describe an opposition to the term colonialism, but you may wonder what does colonialism mean? Colonialism is a term that describes the practice of domination (Kohn). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Durkheim Individualism Suicide In his work On Suicide that was published originally in 1897, Durkheim addresses four specific forms and triggers of suicide. These are not considered to be ideal types in his belief but they can be measured in social situations (Walsh, 27/09/16, s. 6 8). It is within all of these four extreme types that suicide rates are the highest. The first of these is named egoistic suicide. According to Durkheim, egoistic suicide occurs when an individual is not integrated or invested in society at all, their life is overly individualistic. This form of suicide and individuality can be associated with the term organic solidarity. Organic solidarity is used in more modern, industrialized organized societies where the individual starts to see themselves as unique and the focal point of importance rather than being connected to this large conglomerate of people. An egoistic person does not affiliate strongly with any form of institution that would offer stability or community in their life. He often associates egoistic suicide with religious affiliations, especially Protestantism (Durkheim, 2006: 156). • 23. Music Essay On Music And The Power Of Music Song Essay The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before. Throughout history music has been a way for our people to speak out against the government or follow their commands. There is a great irony that a lot of these songs nowadays all tie together to portray the same message, and this is not a coincidence. Today, hip hop has taken the lead in protesting police brutality and the injustices suffered by the poor. Within the selection of songs, the audience can see how the government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much racism going on today. Joey s song, Temptations, explores the issue of racial equality and the struggle of being black in America. Growing up in a poor neighborhood not having your rent on time because your mom works a nine to five job that s just enough to make a living as a result of how the government has set up the average person to be, I really came up from the bottom / Strugglin , my momma on her last dollar / Hustling man I ve been putting in these hours / The government been trying to take away what s ours (line 18 21). In Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window voyeurism is a major theme conveyed throughout the movie. J.B. Jefferies, Lisa, and Stella prove that human fascination with voyeurism is not only addicting, but over time becomes contagious and emotionally detrimental. In the beginning of the movie the audience is introduced to the main character, J.B. Jeffries. After an injury at work, Jefferies is stuck in his apartment with little to do. This is when the idea of voyeurism is first seen in the movie. According to Google Books, voyeurism is the observation of another person doing a private act. J.B. spends his time looking out his window doing just that. He peers into his neighbors apartments and watches as they live their everyday lives. He thinks he has each of his neighbors figured out just by watching them through their windows. By the middle of the movie Jefferies becomes so addicted to being a voyeur that he feels the need to be closer. He therefore achieves this need by using his camera lens and telescope to look closer into the other rooms. When this addiction of Jefferies first starts off, both Stella, his nurse, and Lisa, his girlfriend, did not approve. First, I will be exploring the history of Enron. Then I will be going into further depth on what accounting issues Enron faced and then I will be explaining what a derivative is. Finally yet importantly, I will consider the different types of Accounting Fraud following a conclusion. Accounting Scandals are born due to collective greed and corporate arrogance. In the case of Enron there was a lot of euphoria before the downfall. Stock prices soared and Enron was seen as one of the most innovative companies in the world. However, things seemed too good to be true. Eventually the company was exposed for its wrongdoing which led to the collapse. Many more of such cases were exposed during the 2008/2009 recession such as the Lehmann Brothers scandal. As mentioned earlier, many financial scandals have happened in the past but none of those are nearly as bad as the scandals when it gets to trading in derivatives. Summary of the Enron Accounting Scandal: In the year of 1985 after the federal deregulation of natural gas pipelines, Enron was born. • 30. The Importance Of Servant Leadership As A Pastor The Importance of Servant Leadership in a Pastor Jay Marlowe When it comes to looking at the qualifications for a pastor, the question that comes to my mind is How important is servant leadership is to him? Aside from the educational preparation and pastoral internship training, having a sincere, humble heart is essential. The Bible tells us in Mark 10:42 45(ESV) 42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, [a] 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave[b] of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. One can have all of the necessary scholastic credentials, but if there isn t a sincere heart for serving man, it is all in vain. A pastor can fall to his flesh if he does not keep a meek, truthful relationship with God. He can easily fall to the power of the position. Having power and authority over individuals can certainly lead to having a prideful attitude. The enemy attacks the church in all manners; a pastor is not immune to the temptations that come with being in authority. Hollinger discusses Le Guin s view that feminist SF doesn t prophecy the future but it refers to the world as it is. This is interesting because it emphasises this idea that the SF can explore such issues of gender and sexuality in reality. Hollinger references works such as The Female Man, Bloodchild , The Left Hand of Darkness and Women on the Edge of Time together with people like Donna Harraway, Teresa de Lauretis and Judith Butler. In addition to the well known feminist utopian works of the 70 s Hollinger also mentions Helen O Loy, which is an early masculine focused novel. We see the importance of feminist SF when we read about works such as this, because the contrast shows that some SF writers obviously didn t identify the historical possibility and cultural traditionalism of our notions regarding gender and sexual identity and the roles of men and women. Estimation is crucial for determining the value of a project: whether it will be a project that is able to be completed, a project that is worth pursuing, and a project that is economically justified. A reasonable and informed cost estimate can only be reported to a customer after effort estimation analysis has been performed. This was a slight downside of Momaday s writing, however he was able to pull it all together and make it less of a distraction in the end. Another characteristic of Momaday s writings is how they involve change. For example, in his essay of The Way to Rainy Mountain, the whole story is based around him returning home to see his grandmothers grave. However, the point of the story is to tell the history of his people, the Kiowa people, and how they came to settle on the land known as Rainy Mountain. • 41. Gilgamesh Flood Vs Flood Flood vs. Flood After reading the flood story in the Epic of Gilgamesh and the flood story in Genesis, I was surprised by how far apart these stories written and by how many similarities I found between them. In this paper I am going to discuss the many similarities and difference between these two stories and reasons as to why, although so far apart in time, can be very similar in text. First I would like to discuss the similarities I found while reading these two stories. The obvious similarity is that both stories involved a flood that wiped out all life on earth. Both stories involve one man being spoken to be their respective god to build a boat to prepare for the flood (Genesis 11) (Gilgamesh 108). Noah and Gilgamesh had families that also helped build their boats. These two men were also instructed to bring aboard all living creatures (Gilgamesh 108) (Genesis 12). ... Also in both these stories the floods were caused by large amounts of rain that occurred for seven days. Another fascinating similarity I found was the use of birds. Gilgamesh and Noah sent out raven and dove in order to find land as they got closer and closer to land (Gilgamesh 11) (Genesis 13). When both boats finally came to rest, they were on the top of a mountain (Genesis 13) (Gilgamesh 11). Why Gay Marriage Is Constitutional Essay Traditional wedding vows state, I, (name), take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part (Callaway). Marriage is defined as two people bond together legally under the protection of laws. Couples are able to express and establish their life long relationships officially, publicly, and permanently. Due to the fact that homosexual relationships are increasingly more accepted by the public, gay marriage has become one of the most controversial topics throughout the US. According to DOMA, In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word marriage means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word spouse refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife (sec 3). Until recently 2013, the US Supreme Court finally delivered the verdict that declared section 3 of the DOMA, which is the rejection of right to gay marriage is unconstitutional (Shapiro 208). In Gay Marriage Is A Fundamental Right by Nathan Goetting, The right to many, and to marry the person of one s choice, is a fundamental right and a necessary aspect of human happiness. This has been an explicitly stated abiding principle since the Court used its power of judicial review to strike down as unconstitutional a legislature s definition of marriage in 1967. Currently, 17 states in the United States have legalized the right to same sex marriage. The realization of DOMA is unconstitutional has further evidenced that gay marriage is one of the civil right that should not be taken away by the government, and it is an inevitable changes that open doors for equality and equity. • 43. The Importance Of Cultural Differences In Health Care Today s society is a mix of all the nations, languages, traditions, beliefs and cultures. The diversity of values is what makes society stronger, interesting, more or less acceptable to some forms of foreign influence in one way or another. In general, the assimilation process into society goes with an intermittent level of success, cultural differences arise when dealing with certain aspects of life. In healthcare, people are interacting within very close physical distance, discussing intimate health details, present at the at happy (childbirths) or tragic (death) moments, where stress can bring patients and their families to an edge, those deep rooted cultural differences can be seen without any cultural shields. Cultural sensitivity and awareness is a very important aspect of modern healthcare. It works well if staff members are aware of another cultural viewpoint and able to integrate it while providing care (Burkhardt Nathaniel, 2014). Nursing staff, in particular, spend more time with patients than any other provider in the health care system. Therefore, they should pay close attention when attending to patients born in different countries, raised in in different cultures or patients whose views are distinctly different from the caregiver s perspective. In the emergency department, patients represent all different levels of society, gender, and sexual orientation. The two armies lost about 2,700 soldiers who were wounded, killed, or missing in action. The battle was a tactical draw, but a strategic Union victory as the Federals would maintain control of Missouri and northwest Arkansas for the remainder of the war. Unfortunately, there would be plenty of guerrilla warfare in the region with bushwhackers (Southern supporters) and jayhawkers (Union supporters) destroying the countryside and forcing many families to become refugees from the conflict. It would take many years for the people to recover from the effects of the Civil War. Nearly a month after initiating their campaign against Confederates in southwest Missouri, Gen. Samuel R. Curtis Union Army of the Southwest had pushed into Arkansas and established a defensive position on the bluffs overlooking Little Sugar Creek. At the same time, Gen. Earl Van Dorn was appointed to take command of Confederate forces in the trans Mississippi with the objective of destroying Curtis and his 12,000 Federals. Rather than attack Curtis fortifications, Van Dorn proposed to march around the Union right flank, near Pea Ridge. In the course of the maneuver, however, the Southern forces were divided. • 46. Advantages Of Reflexive Standardization Of The Information... According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting efforts to bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive results, negative results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a result of failing to be planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the Norwegian hospital; the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a fragmented record of databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they were accessed and as a result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a development team to redesign the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to centralize the database and create several views for different system users to view these records. This was deemed to be the reflexive standardization of the information system. It had both advantages and disadvantages as discussed. Necessity and Advantages The proverbial elephant in the room was the scattering of records and the need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It did not do much to increase service delivery thus came off as a hindrance to the success of the hospital s functions. The system was also deemed by Ole Hanseth (2010) as a complex system. The word complex is defined with respect to the ability of the new practitioners to understand the use of the system. • 47. Film Analysis Of Vertigo Vertigo (1958) is frequently considered director Alfred Hitchcock s greatest film. It is the story of a melancholy police officer, Scottie (James Stewart), forced to retire after his vertigo caused a tragic accident. A friend, Gavin, tries to capitalize on Scottie s skills, so Gavin asks Scottie to follow his unstable wife. By accident, Scottie falls in love with this wonderfully mysterious woman, Madeleine. Scottie does not realize, however, that he is falling prey to an elaborate scheme set up by Gavin which will make it appear like Madeleine kills herself. Scottie was unable to get to the wife before she jumped out a window because of his vertigo. Unaware of the scheme, Scottie feels responsible for the death and falls into a terrible mental state. His friend, Midge, tries to pull him out of it, but to no avail. Finally, one day, Scottie spots a woman that looks like Madeleine on the street. He follows her to her home and asks too many questions. She knows who he is, but she can t reveal that he was just a pawn in a terrible crime. • 48. You Tube Video Marketing Has Changed Dramatically Over The... You Tube video marketing has changed significantly over the years. One recent significant change is the merge between TrueView and AdWords for video. Before we look at the merger and how it will affect video marketing, let us briefly look at each of these concepts: TrueView This is an advertising format for You Tube videos. You only get to pay only if a viewer watches your video. You are therefore able to reach a targeted audience. Two TrueView formats are available: in stream and in display. In stream These ads play before a video. They can also play when another video is playing. The viewers can choose to skip the ad after 5 seconds. If they watch for 30 seconds or more, you pay for the ad. In display These ads are among other videos on You Tube. They can also be found on You Tube search pages, or even on websites on the Google Display Network. You only pay when a viewer chooses to watch the video, that is, when they click on the ad. Google AdWords for video This marketing format allows for the displaying of video ads in You Tube search results, before, during, and after videos have played on You Tube or on the Google Display Network. Unlike traditional AdWord campaigns, you use demographic targeting, which helps you reach your target audience. The two You Tube video marketing formats, TrueView and AdWords for video, seem to be similar at face value. This is because to create and even manage TrueView video campaigns, you had to access a special section within AdWords ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hodgkin Lymphoma Researchers are still trying to understand the etiology of Hodgkin s lymphoma.1 Researchers have identified certain risk factors that increase the chance of getting the disease. For example, infection with the Epstein Barr virus (EBV) increases the risk of getting Hodgkin lymphoma; however, the overall risk of getting Hodgkin s is still small even with a previous EBV infection. It is unclear what role EBV plays in the development of Hodgkin s lymphoma since many people are infected with EBV each year but very few actually develop Hodgkin s lymphoma. Moreover, one in three patients with Hodgkin s have EBV in the malignant Reed Sternberg cells, which are the cancer cells involved in Hodgkin disease. However, others with the disease have no evidence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hodgkin s lymphoma has unique malignant mononucleated Hodgkin and multinucleated Reed Stemberg cells or Hodgkin/Reed Stemberg [HRS] cells, which make up a small fraction of cells in affected lymph nodes.4 These cells are embedded in an infiltrate of reactive hematopoietic cells. They are composed of T and B lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils and are usually non malignant. The malignant HRS cells do not contain a phenotype that can allow it to be assigned to a defined hematopoietic cell type; therefore, their origin has been debated. HRS cells are mostly derived from germinal center or post GC B cells and have lost the B cell specific gene expression program, unlike other B cell derived lymphomas where the gene cell pattern shows the differentiation stage of the origin. It is unclear how these cells survive since these types of cells usually undergo apoptotic cell death. Additionally, there have been a number of molecular defects in HRS cells that have been identified. These include activation of the transcription factors nuclear factor kapp B, members of the STAT signaling pathway, activator protein 2, and deregulated NOTCH1 signaling.4 The deregulation of these pathways is found in most HRS cells in nearly all cases of Hodgkin s lymphoma. This points to the relevance of these pathways for HRS cell survival, regulation, and growth of HRS cell specific gene ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
