Essay about Babe Ruth
On February 6, 1895, Kate Schamberger Ruth gave birth to her first child. George Herman Ruth, Jr.
was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the first of eight children born to Kate and George Herman
Ruth. Ruth s father worked as a bartender and ultimately opened his own tavern. Many believe that
George was an orphan all his life, but for the first seven years of his life he was with his parents, but
he survived without guidance on the dirty, crowded streets of the Baltimore riverfront.
On June 13, 1902, George Herman Ruth took his seven year old to St. Mary s Industrial School for
Boys. Not only did he place young George in the school, but he also signed over custody of the boy to
the Xaverian Brothers, a Catholic Order of Jesuit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When George Ruth, Jr., appeared with Dunn at the ballpark the other players started cracking jokes,
and one of the players quipped, quot;Well, here s Jack s newest Babe. quot; The rest of the players
also started referring to young George as quot;Babe quot; and the name stuck. Thus began the storied
career of Babe Ruth.
In the mornings, Ruth would go into Landers Coffee Shop in Boston, and it is here that he met Helen
Woodford, a seventeen year old waitress. They married on October 17, 1914 in Ellicott City,
Maryland.
In December of 1919 Babe was sold to the New York Yankees. Prior to Ruth s arrival in New York,
the team had never won a pennant. With quot; The Babe quot; as part of their team they became a
dominant force in major league baseball, winning seven pennants and four World Championships
from 1920 to 1933. In 1921, the couple adopted a baby girl, Dorothy.
On January 11, 1929, at the age of 31, Helen died of suffocation in a fire. Dorothy, who was eight at
the time, was away at boarding school.
Babe met and became seriously interested in a young widow, Claire Hodgson. Claire had come to
New York from Georgia with her young daughter Julia in 1920 and worked as a model and actress. On
April 17, 1929, the two were married in New York. In October 1930, Babe adopted Claire s daughter

Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism...
Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is valid to a
certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem to correlate Stalinism to
Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the continuity. However the straight line
theory of the continuity between the two ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the
divergence between them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil
unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the Bolsheviks Leninism
can be seen as more of a revolution from below .
The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its several stages. ...

However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted by the Stalinist
structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore
Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of
propagating socialism to other countries.
In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we must firstly
look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the statement.Secondly, factors
within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly,
the reason for the characterization, on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the Stalinist
regime, likening that to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime.
Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks? Trotsky s
assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected considering that any link
between the two systems would certainly seem to undermine Trotsky s creditably as the appropriate
successor of Lenin.
Trotsky was a renowned revolutionary who played a pivotal role during the Bolshevik Revolutionary.

How Did Leonardo Da Vinci Influence The Art World
For my essay I have chosen to write about the great Leonardo da Vinci or his less known full name
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, I chose him because of his iconic influence on the art world and for
how fascinating his mind was, being so ahead of his time. He was the Father of the High Renaissance
style and of the most important painters of The Renaissance. With works from Virgin of the Rocks to
the world known Mona Lisa da Vinci s work as inspired thousands of artists over many generations
with his technique and ability to bring out atmospheric prospective. Born On April 15, 1452 Leonardo
was raised in Vinci Italy a small town in the lower valley of the Arno River in the territory of
Florence. Growing up in a time of great change, Humanism started to become a thing of study as
compared to focusing solely on god and religion. As a bastard child of a farmer s daughter Leonardo
lived with his father and is guessed to have been prevented from seeing his her due to her lower social
class. Due to his status Leonardo was in a way thrown aside by society and his family, his parents
spent no money towards his education, and wasn t even unable to take his father s name. In 1466 both

The Mysterious Tale Of King Arthur s Myth
A story of my chivalry, love, magic, and betrayal; that is the mysterious tale of King Arthur. The myth
of King Arthur is an exciting, tale that is based in the medieval ages. There is a lot of debate on
whether Arthur was a real person, if he was based off of a person who lived during that time period, or
if he was simply just an idea; regardless he impacted that era, and continues to be a popular legend
even today. According to legend the birth of Arthur happened because of magic. King Uther was
childless and deeply infatuated with a married woman, Igraine, with the help of the wizard Merlin
Uther is disguised as Igraine s husband and they lay together. Igraine becomes pregnant with Arthur,

Lancelot was brought to Camelot by the Lady of the Lake who was very fond of Arthur and wanted to
help him whenever she could. Lancelot was knighted as once, and became an amazing knight with
unmatchable ability. Lancelot, Guinevere, and Arthur became nearly inseparable. One day Lancelot
disappeared and despite his best efforts Arthur could not find him. One day several years later he
returned with a tale to tell. He had gone on a journey to Corbenic where he had slayed a dragon and
was rewarded with the King s daughter, Elaine. They were married and had a son. He then went on to
tell Arthur that he had only been with Elaine because he reminded him of his one true love, Guinevere.
King Arthur couldn t bare to hear that and was devistated. He foolishly allowed Lancelot to stay in
Camelot. Before long Lancelot and Guinevere were caught in company of each other. When
Guinevere was tried and found guilty, she was sentenced to be burned at the stake. Just moments

Albert Camus Camus Research Paper
Over several years there has been a debate as to whether Camus s character Meursault is an
existentialist or an absurdist. He shows many characteristics of each. For example, Meursault relates
to an existentialist in the way of not believing in a higher power and that there is nothing after physical
existence. Additionally, Meursault also relates to an absurdist by believing that the world will always
be indifferent towards him. One could even argue that Meursault is both an existentialist and an
absurdist, because the absurdist personality was formed by the Europeans from the existentialist
personality. Albert Camus was the first one to show both of these personalities to people. Camus tries
to show readers that Meursault is not a normal. His view on the world is very abnormal. Absurdism
refers to humanity s need to look for meaning in life and inability to find meaning. Meursault
identifies with an absurdist by believing that the world is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meursault mostly relates to the existentialist personality. Yes, there are traits of both, but the fact that
he does not believe in a higher power pushes him more to the existentialist side. He faces many
different trials in his life and he still manages to see no meaning it. When he is imprisoned, he only
sleeps and withdraws completely. He is able accept his incarceration and not think twice about it.
Existentialist act upon their own will and not by what society norms. Usually when a loved one dies, a
person takes time to grieve, but Meursault did not take time to grieve. He went back to his day to day
life. He even went on a date with Marie very shortly after. Existentialist believe that humans are
responsible for their actions. In prison Meursault understands he is there because he killed a man and
not being able to smoke is just part of the consequences. The characteristics from absurdism simply

Atonement Vs Mcewan
Atonement by Ian McEwan is the story of Briony Tallis writing this novel as an attempt to atone for
the crime she has committed as a child; it relates, among other things, the story of the young Robbie
Turner who is sent off to the French front as a soldier after being incorrectly accused of rape by
Briony. The film adaptation Atonement, directed by Joe Wright, follows the transformation of Robbie
in great details. In the novel and the film, Robbie Turner is first presented as a promising young adult
who is both passionate and full of potential. Both works show how the horrors of war greatly disorient
Robbie and profoundly alienate his personal identity. However, by failing to show how Robbie s
memories and letters exchange with Cecelia bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, it is clearly shown that although Robbie knows that his taste of life [and]..all [his] old
ambitions and pleasures [are gone], the prospect is of a rebirth, a triumphant return [is possible]
(McEwan 227). In his reflection, Robbie discusses the possibility that after the war, his past would be
erased and that he can start over his relationship with Cecelia and become a doctor in the army
(McEwan 227 228). Therefore, the war brings Robbie prospects if he lives through the enormities with
resilience and leaves the idea of having a good life in the new world a hopeful and promising
possibility. McEwan also emphasizes on the fact that tolerance and kindness is still possible during
war, notably with the passage where Robbie and his men save the RAF man from the reckless crowd
of angry soldiers in the bar (McEwan 255). This illusion of hope, that is coherently tied to Briony s
goal in writing the book, is described by her as a final act of kindness.. [that serves to give] the
characters happiness (McEwan 372). Although Atonement shows flashback on Robbie s life back to
England, these scenes do not contribute to give an indication to the importance of hope in helping
human beings to survive the most unhuman conditions of war. In fact, some flashbacks are the key
things that have led to his tragic outcome played backward (Wright 77:25) and others are tied to the
tragic events that have happened to Robbie, for instance the moment of his arrest (Wright 78:00).
Instead of bringing hope, these memories show bitterness and nostalgia that give an impression that
Robbie is unable to accept

The Importance Of Media In The Media
Media is everywhere around the world, it surrounds us even when sometimes we don t even notice it.
It can appear from newspapers to news, or as well physically and throughout electronic devices such
as cell phones. We consider it as a tool to make time fly ahead or to spectate what is going on with
other people s lives. However, we may encounter certain factors that may not appeal to us. We may
see postings or news about tragic events that happen around the world and surprisingly, sometimes we
don t even bother to care, due to the fact that it wasn t us in that situation. There are a great number of
aspects to be resolved for this world to be free from issues, but a question that comes to mind is, What
if it never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example that can relate to this song is when 9/11 happened, due to terrorists. An unexpected tragic
event that no one thought would happen that took many lives from loved ones to close ones. In
addition, Billie Joe Armstrong s pathos has an outstanding true meaning based from the lyrics, A new
day dawning, comes without warning... . One can interpret based on this factor that every day is a new
opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that Billie Joe Armstrong is
trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though we live happy at times, there is always
something dark waiting to approach at any time with unpredictable outcome. A second example based
on this observation can be the terror attack that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred
in a London train underground that injured 30 passengers on board. And furthermore, a second man
was arrested a couple days later due to the fact that he too was also affiliated with the incident as well
according to officers. In addition to the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and
how it s impossible for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s
exclusive? , as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the world to resolve
from this. Many people have experienced moments when others are made fun of or times when people
fight for various reasons such as an argument.

Ichabod In Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow
Although Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow is a depiction of Washington Irving s The Legend of Sleepy
Hollow, the movie is quite different than the original horror story. Burton takes a legendary ghost tale
and transforms it into a murder mystery. He alters the character roles and add more properties to assist
in redesigning the film. By taking Ichabod, the main character and shifting his career, Burton is able to
develop the plot that initially sets the change from one genre to another. In the original story, Ichabod
is an awkwardly, thin school teacher who loves engaging in stories about the supernatural. According
to Irving, He was tall, but exceedingly lank with narrow shoulders, long arms and legs, hands that
dangled a mile out of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes in science and reasoning making him a not so easy target to be scared by the supernatural.
This is why Burton s Ichabod is a detective and the headless horseman is considered to be a murderer
instead of ghostly figure who haunts the living. Changing Ichabod s profession is an extremely
essential part of the film. It serves as the main purpose as to why the genre is changed to a murder
mystery. By having Ichabod as a constable, Ichabod searches for clues and seeks out to find the
headless horsemen. If Burton had not changed Ichabod s profession, it would be relatively impractical
to see a cowardly teacher on a murder scene trying to catch the suspect. Although Burton s Ichabod is
a detective, he still possess qualities of a teacher. For instance, he takes young Masbeth under his
wing. Taking Masbeth on excursions with him through Sleepy Hollow, he teaches him how to
investigate through experiences. Ichabod s investigation of the victims is also quite similar to a
teacher. Like chemistry teachers who perform experiments in a laboratory, Ichabod does the same. For
instance, the first investigation scene where he sprinkles a substance on the body of the man who was
just killed or investigating the strides of the horseman to determine how many steps he

Life Of Pi Expressionism Essay
I took an interest in the film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari because it is up to the viewer to interpret
whether or not Francis, the narrator, was telling the story as a sane or insane man. This film reminds
me of the book The Life of Pi. In The Life of Pi, the main character of the book narrates his survival
while stranded at sea. When he manages to find an inhabited island he manages to get helped. He tells
the people the same story he narrated throughout the book. These people did not believe this story so
he told a second one which was more believable, excluding details about the tiger he was on a raft
with, and so on. At the end of the book, the reader is left wondering which story is true because the
narrator also said the second story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caligari was created during the period of Expressionism, where artist made artwork which attempted
to make an individual question the emotions they felt. Expressed in a different way, Expressionism
was more than just art that made someone question their own feelings. It tried to create emotional
responses or feelings that are not normally felt when looking at art. Some of the radically different
emotions or feeling were confusion and paranoia. My favorite feelings felt when looking at
expressionist art can not even be expressed as one emotion. If anything, these feelings would be best
described as having no idea what they are. An emotion can be felt, but describing that feeling in
logical terminology is impossible because it doesn t exist! I felt this after watching The Cabinet of Dr.
Caligari for the first time. One minute everything made sense, the next minute I had no idea what to
even think! The purpose of the movie version we watched made more sense after our class discussion.
As an expressionist work of art, viewers were supposed to not fully comprehend and realize the
emotions they felt, questioning them, when realizing the possibility that Francis wasn t sane and that
Dr. Caligari could be the sane one. This film was a success because it captured the whole Can I trust
anyone or anything period after World War I and the principle of Expressionism where the viewer
questions the emotions he or she is

Difference Between German And Italian Opera
Like the previous eras, Opera continued to be one of the most important music genre is the 19th
century, especially in Italy, German and France. Opera served as a form of entertainment for the
people of higher social class. Opera music was also popular among the people of other social classes
due to the availability of transcribed opera music for them to enjoy in salons or homes of the middle
class. This genre was extensively explored and developed by the Italians and Germans. This paper will
discuss how Italian and German opera were developed by comparing each composer s distinctive
compositional traits.
The voice is considered as the most important element in the Italian Opera. On top of the polyphonic
accompaniment for the orchestra, melody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated by Burkholder, Grout and Palisca, Weber s Der Freischutz s rustic choruses, marches, dances
and airs ; multisectional aria form (influence from Rossini) and florid vocal lines were all common
characteristics of the Italian Opera. Meanwhile in Verdi s Otello, Wagnerian influence could be seen.
Verdi used melodic motives to show the characters emotions. In Act 4 scene 3, the orchestra was used
to heighten the dramatic moment instead of the voice, which was a breakthrough in the history of
Italian Opera. It is apparent that both Italians and Germans knew how to blend the musical elements
and text well to demonstrate the Romantic traits in their opera.
Aside from that, nationalism could be shown in the works of these composers, yearning for unification
of their motherlands. Both librettist and composers sought to include elements that could entertain all
possible listeners. By the late nineteenth century, the standard opera repertory came to light and newly
composed operas were less frequently staged. Over the time, the opera works that survived have
become associated with high culture and had set a mark in the world of western music.
Further research could be done to identify how the compositional styles of 19th Century opera
composers influence the development of post nineteenth century music

WELCOME ADDRESS by Host Pastor
The great God that deserves to be praised greatly is our God (Psalm 145:3). Jesus Christ, the same
yesterday, today and forever. Hallelujah! It was just like yesterday when the Lord told us three years

Our ever faithful, ever true Lord and Savior has proven Himself in innumerable ways as The Alpha

Essay about Family and Medical Leave Act (Fmla)
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) What is Family and Medical leave Act (FMLA)? The Family
and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) that was passed in 1993, is a national policy that grants workers up to
twelve weeks of unpaid leave in four situations. These four situations are for pregnancy; to care for an
infant, such as newborns, newly placed foster children, and adoptions; to care for a relative with a
serious health condition; or to allow an employee to recover and recuperate from a personal serious
health condition. This paper will be discussing the impact of FMLA on employers and the protections

President Bush prior to the passing of FMLA in 1992 vetoed a similar bill which was to suppress the
creation of new jobs resulting in the elimination of jobs that already existed. With the election of
President Clinton in 1992 assured the passing of FMLA which has been the focal point of Clinton s
campaign. (dol.gov., 2009) The FMLA was the first legislation that Clinton signed after taking office.
After that, employers and employees who are supporter of FMLA amended this to make sure it was
incorporated in more workplaces and to help provide for paid leave instead of unpaid leave.
Employers or employees skeptical of the FMLA focused on current Department of Labor regulations
for needless burdens upon employers. The Society for Human Resource Management had arguments
regarding the truth and legitimacy of requested leave. With those arguments, there were changes in the
policy and procedures of being an employee in a company revisiting regulations. There was also a
concern that employment law had failed to account for changes through employers and did not
provide enough protection to family life. There were prominent congressional debates over the bill
due to the potential loss of an employee/ parent who may be forced to quit their job in order to care for
one of the four situations that FMLA covers. Investigators who took a survey of leave not only

The Skeletal System and its Diseases
The Skeletal System and its Diseases The human body is a complex system that often malfunctions.
Many people believe that numerous diseases are a natural reflection of the body aging and cannot be
avoided. The goal of my paper is to change this perception and demonstrate that healthy eating and
active lifestyle can result in a healthy body at any age. To narrow my focus, I will be looking at
diseases of the skeletal system and how to treat them. The most common bone disease is osteoporosis.
The bones become weak and are more likely to break. It is most common in elderly women, though
anyone can get it. A similar disease is osteopenia which is low bone density. There can be some
genetic factors that lead to these two diseases, but mostly they result from a poor diet and an unhealthy
lifestyle (Medline Plus). Osteoporosis and osteopenia have been on the rise. People over 50 are most
likely to get it, and women are particularly prone to it. In the United States, 4.5 million women have
osteoporosis, whereas only 0.8 million have it. A higher number of people have osteopenia. An
estimated 22 million women suffer from it, and around 11 million men have it. It affects all races, but
white and Asian people are more prone to it (Rheumatology.org). Osteoporosis and osteopenia are
silent because there are no symptoms until a bone breaks or is fractured. Even a very minor injury can
cause the bone to break or fracture. Most commonly this will happen in the wrist, spine, and

Gender And Gender Roles
Society expects different behaviors from boys and girls. Gender socialization is the tendency of
socialization of boys and girls differently. Gender roles are personality, attitude, and behaviors
expected of people based on their sex. Socialization is one s process of acknowledgment, acceptance,
and awareness of societal values and norms. George Mead theorized that through social interactions,
one will develop their personal identity, such as a little girl being gifted a play kitchen set so she can
mimic her mother s role and a boy playing with a plastic tool box. Therefore, following the footsteps
of their parents, many grown men struggle to be emotionally available or expressive while women
continue to feel obligated to satisfy a man. Many are influenced by culture, and many parts of the
world, cultures are different. For example, in the U.S., many people associate the color blue with boys.
Even as babies, they are treated different and dressed different. A girl is seen only for her outward
appearance while a guy is seen for his interests and aspirations, again, objectifying a woman and
elevating a man. Men are shamed upon if they are not the bread earner of the household and women
are shamed for not being there for their child instead, working a job. As members of society, one will
accept these gender criteria and be disciplined to act according to one s gender to avoid being the
misfit of the group.

Murder Of Emmett Till Thesis
The Murder of Emmett Till is an incredible documentary about the harsh reality of life for African
Americans in the U.S. in the 1950 s. The documentary does an amazing job of shedding light onto this
terrible period of American history by showing it s audience a very graphic example of this time
period s prejudice against African America. The Murder of Emmett Till focuses on a case in 1955 in
which a 14 year old African American boy was ruthlessly murdered for supposedly flirting with a
white woman. The intention of this magnificent documentary are made fairly clear to its audience as

Many of the interviews included in the film are those of friends, family, and witnesses. The most
impacting of those interviews were those that included friends and family. The film reached out to Till
s mother and was able to interview and she really tied the documentary together, often she would
speak about her deceased son and how his death impacted her and the rest of the African American
community. Moses Wright who was there when Bryant kidnapped Emmet was also very impactful, he
tried to convince the kidnappers to give the boy a whipping, instead of doing the unthinkable, of
course, they didn t listen and took the boy. Many other friends and family of Till were interviewed as
well, many of which described Till and his personality. This allowed the audience to build an image of
Emmet Till, which also something many documentaries fail to do. An ordinary documentary would
give the audience cold hard facts about the case, The Murder of Emmet Till, however; builds upon
emotion by building up these people like an author would build a character. The film uses the
audience s emotions to emphasize the importance and tragedy of this event, the use of emotion also
encourages the audience to care more about what happened. Instead of relying on pure facts, which
often only appeal to only some people, they use emotion which appeals to all and they, of course,

she has moved 3 times (not including the time she moved from NYC to Washington), and that she
does not want to move again, but the family needs to move because of Dad s job as a news reporter.
She believes that her father chooses the worst times to move, and that is when she finally settles in one
place. She then gets angry at her dad for another move and storms off into her room. Her mother
comes down to talk to her and explains that there is no choice, but she feels the same way, and she
thinks that her father and her brother (Andy Billows) do, too. Amber feels better with her mom s
words, but she decides to stay in her room anyway, and the next day, she begins her research on
Hawaii....
The family has a dinner party to celebrate their trip to Hawaii. After dinner, mom and dad get into a
fight. It started when Amber and her dad were clearing the table and washing the dishes. Mom was
mad because Dad didn t say anything in response to his friend s views. She explained that the whole
point of the dinner party was to see what the important people of the government were thinking, so he
could SERVE HIS LEADERSHIP PROPERLY . A few days later, Amber begins to worry about going

Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment
God Answers the Questions Presented by Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and
Punishment
In Dostoevsky s novels pain and some heavy burden of the inevitability of human suffering and
helplessness form Russia. And he depicts it not with white gloves on, nor through the blisters of the
peasant, but through people who are close to him and his realities: city people who either have faith,
or secular humanists who are so remote from reality that even when they love humanity they despise
humans because of their own inability to achieve or to create paradise on earth. His novels The
Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment are best examples of the poisonous effect of such
ideals on the common man. The rebellion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is not the love that is directed towards the humanity as a whole, but towards the individual: Strive
to love your neighbor actively and indefatigably (II, 4). For Dostoevsky such love is a false one and he
presents it through such characters as Rakitin, Perkhotin and even Luzhin:
Consciousness of life is superior to life, knowledge of the laws of happiness is superior to happiness
that is what we must fight against. (The Dream of a Ridiculous Man , p. 382)
One of greatest evils for Dostoevsky are the so called liberals who love humanity more than an
individual man. Yet he does not represent their behavior as genuinely evil . Their hate towards
humanity arises exactly from the opposite: love. Secular humanists see so much evil, crime and
inhumanity, they cannot stop it so they rebel. Ivan Karamazov and his rebellion are purely of that
kind. He is not vile, he just cannot understand that there might be a solution for such suffering,
especially in the case of children who are innocent in Christianity. That is why Ivan asks:
Love life more than the meaning of it? (II, 3)
Ivan as any average intellectual, wants to know. To know the meaning of life for him is more
important than to actually do something about the human suffering. Ivan forgets that one human life is
as important as the entire humanity. For him humanity is merely an abstraction which happen to be
surrounding him.

When they approached the island they found a wall of sand where the tide had washed much of it

their undercarriages in sand. The Marines neared the island expecting to find nothing but destruction.
However, they found something far worse. The Japanese soldiers had built shelters and bunkers and
were waiting for the Americans to enter the sand and work their way in. Each Marine had a surprise
when the Japanese opened fire and, having no support from their own marooned tanks and other
support vehicles, the Americans could do nothing but dig down and wait out the storm. When the

the enemy back. The only Japanese remaining on the woodline were a few snipers. One of which

minimal damage. He made a quick recovery and was sent to San Francisco nearing the end of the war

Fashion Marketing And Its Impact On Consumer s Design...
The concept of marketing is the action or business of bringing or sending a product or commodity to
the market. (Oxford English Dictionary) Fashion Marketing differs from the marketing of other goods
because of the uniqueness of the merchandise. According to the Parson s School of Design, fashion
marketing is the process of analyzing, developing, and marketing current fashion trends into sales
strategies. (IJMBT) In fashion marketing, consumers are the creators by virtue of their adoption and
rejection of new trends and styles. Furthermore, fashion is integral to the construction and
communication of one s social identity, helping to define the class, ethnicity, class, age, and the gender
of the wearer as a reflection of individuality. Fashion marketers must position products based on
consumer s design preference. Fashion advertisements have their own stylistic modes and spheres of
production and consumption, involving the interrelationship of word and image among other things.

The Need for a Middle Eastern Empire Essay
The Imperial History History suggests that great leaders view the world as a divided empire that if
united would end problems that a single nation dream of solving. Many leaders of today fight for
division, independence, and personal interests. Such leaders want control over small territories just to
exercise power and control over a small population resulting in problems such as famine, poverty, and
civil wars. Real leaders seek glory by achieving world domination to help their society move forward
towards a better future and inviting other societies to join. Hence, spread civilized laws and ideas, end
barbarism, and unite mankind.
The Macedonians started their campaign of conquering the Persians as a method to unite the Greeks.

Colonization is the process of forming colonies where emigrants from a country live in a distant land
and subject to their parent country. World Domination by an empire has pros and cons, such pros are
unity of the people of certain culture or religion, economic growth of the nation, technological
advancements, and national security. Unity of people, a term used to describe the strong bond between
groups of people living in a nation, or a region sharing the same religion or culture. For example, in
the Middle East, Arabs lived there in tribes fighting one another. When Islam was introduced and
spread in the region, the Arabs as Muslims stood together united as one nation because they shared the
same religion, culture, and followed one leader called the Caliph. This created unity which brought
more together as Islam spread leading to an empire. It was a period where all Arabs were brothers and
where Arab rule extended throughout the Middle East (Kennedy, 2004). This empire gave Muslims a
chance to engage in trade that stretched from China to Europe connecting the East with the West and
trade within the empire between cities. During the Umayyad and early Abbasid caliphs, Iraq was the
most productive area due to its irrigated alluvium of southern Iraq which generated the most revenues
and was four times the revenues of Egypt which was the next richest province (Kennedy, 2004). In

The Cosmological Argument On The Existence Of God
Theories have arisen from many different philosophers trying to explain the existence of God; the
Cosmological Argument is one such theory. The Cosmological Argument has been changed and
reviewed for years; however, the focus has always stayed the same. The universe is a prime example
that there is a God. A simple Cosmological argument states that:
Everything that exists has a cause of its existence. The universe exists.
Therefore,
The universe has a cause of its existence. If the universe has a cause of its existence, then that cause is
God.
Therefore,
God exists (NA, 2008).
In my opinion, this argument has very basic and broad statements that may be difficult or impossible
to be proven false. Everything that exists has a cause of its existence and The universe exists are two
statements that can be difficult to prove incorrect. We know that nothing is made without a reason
behind it, and nothing is made without a process leading up to its creation. The universe exists cannot
be proven false without some very abstract thinking involved. We know that the universe exists
because you and I exist, everything around us exists, and the world on which we live and the universe
in which we live exist. We can conclude that the universe has a cause of its existence because we can
prove that the universe exists by stating that humans and objects around us exist. In my opinion, we
can can also conclude that everything in the universe has a cause as to why it was created

Pros And Cons Of Dystopian Novels
A perfect society, where nothing bad ever happens, and within the blink of an eye and one false move,
it all collapses. This type of novel is called a Dystopian, or bad place in Greek. The premise is to have
what seems like a perfect society, but because of the rules that make it perfect, it all falls into chaos.
Some such stories are The Hunger Games , and The Time Machine , because there is a set of rules that

Persuasive Essay Marijuana Legalization
Cannabis has been used for over 6000 years without its legality being questioned until the 1930 s
when the United States Government criminalized its possession. Now seventy years later, its
prohibition is being reconsiderat both State and Federal levels of the government. The push for
legality has never had as much support as it does now, with the legalization of medical marijuana in
20states, decimalization in 16 states, and 2 states that allow commercial cultivation, manufacture, and
sale of cannabis. An overwhelming majority of the United States population, including me, see the

The damage can only be done through heavy drug usage on a daily basis, which is extremely rare for
teens according to an ABC report. The next argument is that marijuana is addicting. The fact is
marijuana is less addicting than many other drugs, including alcohol, painkillers, and tobacco. Recent
studies have suggested that sports drinks, soda, and other sugary drinks are more addicting then
marijuana. The reason why many marijuana users go to rehab is that if they are arrested for possession
of marijuana, their jail time or fines are greatly decreased if they go to a rehab center as part of their
sentence. Because of this, the reports of how many people are addicted to marijuana are greatly
exaggerated. The final argument I will be addressing is the typical stoner (a person who regularly uses
marijuana) stereotype. The stereotype is that people who use or used marijuana won t be successful in
life. This stereotype has and will continue being proven wrong. The most relevant example is the
President of the United States Barack Obama, who as a teen and young adult used marijuana regularly.

Our brains have the enough power to make all of the many different parts of our body function the

And, since this experiment is about how hand eye dominance affects the hand eye coordination used
when shooting a basketball, the occipital lobe is one of the most important parts of the brain in regards
to this experiment.
Everyone knows that the typical human being has a dominant hand. The only case in which a person
does not have a dominant hand is if that person can use their right and left hand equally well. In this
case this person is ambidextrous. But, the typical human also has a dominant foot, ear, side of the
brain, and eye. (web.stanford.edu, 2014) Eye dominance, or eyedness, is the tendency to prefer visual
input from one eye to the other. This is similar to left or right handedness. For people who have
anisometropic myopia, a different amount of nearsightedness in each eye, the eye with more myopia
or nearsightedness is the dominant eye (web.stanford.edu, 2014). The easiest way to test your
eyedness is to create a small triangle with your hands, with your thumbs as the base of the triangle and
your left hand s fingers overlapping your right hand s fingers , and center it around an object, such as a
doorknob, about 5 10 feet away with both eyes open. Then, close your left eye. If you can still see the
object with your right eye opened, then your right eye is your dominant eye. If the object moves out of
your view, then close your right eye. You will most likely see the object with your left eye, in which
case your dominant eye is your left eye

The Construction Of The Patoka Reservoir
In the 1960s, for the folks in and around Ellsworth, [Indiana,] living life decades behind the time was
just the way it was. Manpower over technology. The comfort of tradition over the anxiety of change,
stated Jason Recker, a journalist for The Herald. Patoka Reservoir, an economic center for recreation
and flood control, encompasses 8,800 acres of land. Before its construction, a thriving community
inhabited the fertile terrain along the Patoka River. Towns of this former neighborhood included Elon,
Newton Stewart, and Ellsworth. (Recker 1) Families lived their everyday lives as farmers, with an
occasional visit from a local peddler. One day, though, a new kind of visit altered their peaceful ways.

receive a sufficient education as a child, at the age of thirty two he both cultivated one hundred sixty
acres of farmland and managed a general store. (History 759) Not only did Ellis publicly exert

The Host In The Canterbury Tales
On its surface, the Host s presence in the Merchant s account from Chaucer s Canterbury Tales seems
to portray the Host as empathetic towards the Merchant. This makes sense because the Host is initially
depicted as a Christ like figure in the General Prologue. Close reading reveals, however, that the
deeper significance of the story is that the Host uses the Merchant as a mechanism to express his own
desires. Consequently, the Christ like persona that the Host embodies in the General Prologue
becomes antithetical throughout the Merchant s story. This thesis will be demonstrated by means of
close reading, including reference to the following Principles of Close Reading: Structure, Temporal
Order, and Diction. Several instances in the General ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the Host finishes talking about his own wife and the vices of women, he concludes with the
following statement: To tellen al, wherfor my tale is do (211.2440). Essentially, the Host says to tell
all, therefore his tale is finished. The use of the word tale embodies a much deeper significance here.
Because this word is used to describe each character s story, it appears as though the Host has created
his own story of sorts in The Epilogue. This supports the idea that the Host uses the Merchant as a
mechanism to exploit his own personal interests. For the Host tells the Merchant what type of tale to
tell, claiming that his tale is finished implies that the Host is actually in control of the Merchant s
story. Moreover, because the Host makes this statement in the very last line of The Epilogue, there
exists a sort of finality in his statement. The Host quite literally has the last word here, which implies
that he ultimately takes priority over the Merchant. In the end, the Host s personal interests are at the
forefront of this story, and the Merchant is merely a mechanism through which the Host can prioritize

Eye Infection Procedures
Do your eyes have less than perfect vision? Are you trying to decide whether you want glasses,

help you decide:
Glasses:
Easy to clean: Unless you are perspiring heavily or get something splashed on your glasses, they will
usually only require a soft cloth to rub any dust or dirt away. If they have spots of sweat or other
liquids, this can be removed with a mild solution of warm water and dish soap.
Low chance of eye infection: Unlike contact lenses that are placed on your eyeball, glasses rest upon
your face. Because there is less potential for glasses to spread germs to your eyes, you will have a
lower risk of eye infection than than if you were wearing contact lenses.
Coordinate with your outfits: Sometimes an outfit needs something a little bit more, to make it pop ...

Contact lenses will never fog, no matter the temperature difference.

Reasons For The Age Of Exploration
The Age of Exploration, also known as the Age of Discovery lasted from the 15th century to the 17th
century. It was the Europeans exploration of expanding from the old world to the new world. The
discovery of the New World led to wealth, knowledge, and new trading routes. This made people think
more about the world and it developed modern science into what it is today.
Spices were used to help preserve food and not become spoil but it was very expensive and dangerous
to get. There was this land route that led from Europe to Asia called the Silk Road and this is where
traders had to travel in order to get the spices. However, it was dangerous and the European wanted to
find an alternative way that was safer and faster to get the spices from Asia with a new route.
(Nussbaumcom) The reason for the discovery of the new world was because of Christopher
Columbus, who is an Italian man that was working for the Spanish monarchy. Christopher Columbus
was sent on a voyage to look for an alternative for a shorter sea route that was able to reach China and
India rather than using the Portuguese s route around Africa. On Christopher Columbus voyage to the
new world, he landed on the island of San Salvador, which is the Bahamas today, because of curiosity,
Columbus then decides to explore the island of Hispaniola which is Haiti and the Dominican Republic
today. (Mitchell) Christopher Columbus became famous for his voyages and would lead three more

How Does Stereotypes Affect Society
There are numerous influences across the world that can affect society. Any patterns that prompts
certain behaviors are typically expected by certain groups. An individual perspective of what is most
important in life must do with our view of the world. There are also different behaviors in which we
may show within our community that cause society to either accepted those behaviors, or have
negative impact on us more so that we realize. We also have our generation beliefs that have been
passed down to us that we believe is true. It is up to us as people to decide what we will allow to have
help us shape our view on society. We can t annoy the fact that there s are social problems in the

We learn them through socializing with each other, and through the media. Stereotypes can have our
view on one another twisted because the individual may not be doing what we see to be truthful or
normal in our eyes. This can affect our daily life performances and can even cause poor health
choices. We as people should change the way we feel people should act, so that the viewpoint of
society will not be based on labels or opinions, but the character from within. As we look at what is
going on in the News today. According to WALB News there s are two high school students starting a
movement to help promote self esteem in their schools. These students see the separation that the
negative labels are causing, and want to create a positive outcome throughout their school. This
movement was created in Pelham, Ga by the high students .The mission of this movement is to get rid

Similarities Between Rape Fantasies And The Other Place
The short stories Rape Fantasies and The Other Place are both short stories that have ominous
sounding titles and are both different but I many ways very similar. Rape Fantasies, as you can guess,
is about the very taboo subject of rape. Furthermore, The Other Place is about violence subject matter
and taboo subjects of violence involving the narrator and his son s violent thoughts. The short stories
Rape Fantasies and The Other Place are similar pieces of work due to their similarities in the way they
narrate their own stories, have fantasies about violence, and believe their behavior is abnormal.
Both short stories are narrated by one person throughout each of their own separate short stories. Both
must divulge their own fantasies about their own stories and use great about of descriptions and
imagery that make you feel the mood of the story. In the other places, the narrator talks about the
violent drawing his son has been making and connects it to his own violent tendencies to when he was
young. Mostly, though, he draws pictures of men holding guns, or men hanging from nooses. Or men
cutting up other men with chainsaws in these pictures there are no faces, just figures holding
chainsaws and figures being cut in two, with blood spraying out (). This imagery told by the narrator
in the story shows the violence of his child and the lack empathy he shows, but the father isn t as
effected as he should be by his sons lack of empathy. In the story Rape

Female Serial Killer Essay
During the late 18 centuries, society became more aware of serial murders. At first, the term of serial
murder was only referred to men with specific causes and motives that influenced them to commit
such heinous crimes. The main motive to commit homicide was based on sexual fantasies. However,
years later, women did fall into this category of serial murders but defying the main motive that
characterized men serial killers. The misconceptions that that female serial killers do not exits and that
woman s nature does not let the to engaged in such bestial acts have been discarded. Based on

divorced, or single woman is exempt of being a serial murder. Women from ordinary occupations such
as midwife and employed all to educational and professional workers had commit homicide. Some of
those professional women are nurses, secretaries or work with infants. Based on research, women with
higher education such as college are most likely to engage on serial murders because they are in

that nearly 1/3 of FSKs were nurse Harrison, et al (2015). This is one of the reasons why older and
people with ill are target by female serial killers because their lack of physical strength motivates
women to demand silent but dangerous power over them. White and Lester (2012) noted, women are
four times more likely than man to drug their victims, as it may be easier for them to subdue their
targets in this way (Harrison, et al (2015). Those women are known as the angels of death because
they used gentle and discrete means of murder such as lethal injections to carry out their execution.
Although, females motives incline more towards children and disabled adults, the age average on their

Big Trouble in Little Baltimore
The past one hundred and fifty years of Baltimore s history have included many turbulent fluctuations
in the way the city manages to thrive during the vast changes in how consumer related products are
manufactured. One of the most important ingredients to the city s prosperity is in a mineral called
chromite. Chromite is typically found in acidic soil along with serpentinite rock, a dark green brittle
rock in the soapstone family. During the late nineteenth century, chromite suddenly became a hot
commodity as it was discovered in abundance on what is now a federally protected reserve called
Soldier s Delight, located just northwest of Baltimore City. At that time, the land was ripe for mining
and chromite was found to be very versatile in the manufacturing of many items that were, at that
time, unavailable like yellow and red paint, tanned leather, bricks for firing kilns, and, the most
valuable use of all, chrome. The mining operation at Soldier s Delight suddenly went full throttle
during the early part of the twentieth century and Baltimore was seated in the perfect location for
transporting these new products to places all over the world due to its connection to the Chesapeake
Bay. However, the processing plant that received the mined chromite was not conscientious enough
with the oxidized discharge from the chromite and allowed it to seep into the soil beneath the plant
and enter into the groundwater. The effects were not known at the time, but the plant was doing the

Queen Elizabeth s Influential Reign
CHY4U
Mrs.Plunkett
Tom Ister The British Empire once governed one quarter of the global population during its prime, but
Britain s industrial power and influence over the world would not have been possible if not for Queen
Elizabeth the first. Queen Elizabeth transformed England and made it into the powerful, dominant
global superpower it is today. She inherited a torn land, England was in dept, and tensions were rising
between Catholic and Protestant citizens as England at the time had two extremely orthodox religious
communities. Fortunately, she helped reform England by ruling over and funding the English
renaissance, and voyages to the new world (which helped facilitate England s later colonization ...

Queen Elizabeth s rule helped turn England from a weak, divided nation which was far outside the
mainstream of European power and cultural development to the dominant world superpower it is
today. This was due in part to the expansion of the arts, as it unified the people of England by
providing a cultural identity. Queen Elizabeth was a patron for the arts, she provided the means for
which arts could create iconic works, she also had a lenient attitude towards religious dogma
compared to her predecessors, which allowed for more creative freedom for the artists she sponsored.
The arts grew during her reign as the likes of: Shakespeare, Spenser and Marlowe created poetry and
drama, and composers like Byrd and Tallis worked in her court. She provided the means for the artists
to work, and prosper. England is said to have experienced a renaissance similar to that of the Italian
renaissance, this re birth of ideas, and creation of art was possible only due to Queen Elizabeths

The Role Of Self Identity For Adolescents
The life transitions are the major changes that occur throughout individual s lifespan. Adolescence is
often classified as one of the most challenging and significant stage during life transition. In this
phrase, the individuals not only developing physical and sexual maturation but also experiencing the
development of identity and transitions into social and economic independence (WHO, 2014). This
essay will discuss the different concept of self identity for adolescents, the important predictable and
unpredictable elements during the transition, as well as the nurses role in relation to adolescence care.
According to Erikson s theory, as the individual transits into adolescence, he or she begins to express
the high interest in understanding and trying to make sense of the self and its qualities. This process
includes self awareness, self conscious and self examination ( Brinthaupt Lipka, 2012). Porfeli, Lee

Margo Roth Spiegelman s Miracle
The way I figure it, everyone gets a miracle. Like, I will probably never be struck by lightning, or win

Nobel Prize, or become the dictator of a small nation in the Pacific Islands, or contract terminal ear

them
will probably happen to each of us. I could have seen it rain frogs. I could have stepped foot on Mars.
I
could have been eaten by a whale. I could have married the queen of England or survived months at

But my miracle was different. My miracle was this: out of all the houses in all the subdivisions in all

Many believe that George was an orphan all his life, but for the first seven years of his life he was with his parents, but he survived without guidance on the dirty, crowded streets of the Baltimore riverfront. On June 13, 1902, George Herman Ruth took his seven year old to St. Mary s Industrial School for Boys. Thus began the storied career of Babe Ruth. In the mornings, Ruth would go into Landers Coffee Shop in Boston, and it is here that he met Helen Woodford, a seventeen year old waitress. They married on October 17, 1914 in Ellicott City, Maryland. In December of 1919 Babe was sold to the New York Yankees. Prior to Ruth s arrival in New York, the team had never won a pennant. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem to correlate Stalinism to Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the continuity. However the straight line theory of the continuity between the two ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the divergence between them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the Bolsheviks Leninism can be seen as more of a revolution from below . The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its several stages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted by the Stalinist structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of propagating socialism to other countries. In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we must firstly look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the statement.Secondly, factors within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. How Did Leonardo Da Vinci Influence The Art World For my essay I have chosen to write about the great Leonardo da Vinci or his less known full name Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, I chose him because of his iconic influence on the art world and for how fascinating his mind was, being so ahead of his time. He was the Father of the High Renaissance style and of the most important painters of The Renaissance. With works from Virgin of the Rocks to the world known Mona Lisa da Vinci s work as inspired thousands of artists over many generations with his technique and ability to bring out atmospheric prospective. There is a lot of debate on whether Arthur was a real person, if he was based off of a person who lived during that time period, or if he was simply just an idea; regardless he impacted that era, and continues to be a popular legend even today. • 7. Albert Camus Camus Research Paper Over several years there has been a debate as to whether Camus s character Meursault is an existentialist or an absurdist. He shows many characteristics of each. For example, Meursault relates to an existentialist in the way of not believing in a higher power and that there is nothing after physical existence. Additionally, Meursault also relates to an absurdist by believing that the world will always be indifferent towards him. One could even argue that Meursault is both an existentialist and an absurdist, because the absurdist personality was formed by the Europeans from the existentialist personality. Albert Camus was the first one to show both of these personalities to people. Camus tries to show readers that Meursault is not a normal. His view on the world is very abnormal. • 8. Atonement Vs Mcewan Atonement by Ian McEwan is the story of Briony Tallis writing this novel as an attempt to atone for the crime she has committed as a child; it relates, among other things, the story of the young Robbie Turner who is sent off to the French front as a soldier after being incorrectly accused of rape by Briony. The film adaptation Atonement, directed by Joe Wright, follows the transformation of Robbie in great details. In the novel and the film, Robbie Turner is first presented as a promising young adult who is both passionate and full of potential. Both works show how the horrors of war greatly disorient Robbie and profoundly alienate his personal identity. In the novel, it is clearly shown that although Robbie knows that his taste of life [and]..all [his] old ambitions and pleasures [are gone], the prospect is of a rebirth, a triumphant return [is possible] (McEwan 227). In his reflection, Robbie discusses the possibility that after the war, his past would be erased and that he can start over his relationship with Cecelia and become a doctor in the army (McEwan 227 228). Therefore, the war brings Robbie prospects if he lives through the enormities with resilience and leaves the idea of having a good life in the new world a hopeful and promising possibility. McEwan also emphasizes on the fact that tolerance and kindness is still possible during war, notably with the passage where Robbie and his men save the RAF man from the reckless crowd of angry soldiers in the bar (McEwan 255). This illusion of hope, that is coherently tied to Briony s goal in writing the book, is described by her as a final act of kindness.. [that serves to give] the characters happiness (McEwan 372). Although Atonement shows flashback on Robbie s life back to England, these scenes do not contribute to give an indication to the importance of hope in helping human beings to survive the most unhuman conditions of war. In fact, some flashbacks are the key things that have led to his tragic outcome played backward (Wright 77:25) and others are tied to the tragic events that have happened to Robbie, for instance the moment of his arrest (Wright 78:00). Ichabod In Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow Although Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow is a depiction of Washington Irving s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the movie is quite different than the original horror story. Burton takes a legendary ghost tale and transforms it into a murder mystery. He alters the character roles and add more properties to assist in redesigning the film. By taking Ichabod, the main character and shifting his career, Burton is able to develop the plot that initially sets the change from one genre to another. By having Ichabod as a constable, Ichabod searches for clues and seeks out to find the headless horsemen. If Burton had not changed Ichabod s profession, it would be relatively impractical to see a cowardly teacher on a murder scene trying to catch the suspect. Although Burton s Ichabod is a detective, he still possess qualities of a teacher. For instance, he takes young Masbeth under his wing. Taking Masbeth on excursions with him through Sleepy Hollow, he teaches him how to investigate through experiences. Ichabod s investigation of the victims is also quite similar to a teacher. In Act 4 scene 3, the orchestra was used to heighten the dramatic moment instead of the voice, which was a breakthrough in the history of Italian Opera. It is apparent that both Italians and Germans knew how to blend the musical elements and text well to demonstrate the Romantic traits in their opera. Aside from that, nationalism could be shown in the works of these composers, yearning for unification of their motherlands. Both librettist and composers sought to include elements that could entertain all possible listeners. By the late nineteenth century, the standard opera repertory came to light and newly composed operas were less frequently staged. The goal of my paper is to change this perception and demonstrate that healthy eating and active lifestyle can result in a healthy body at any age. To narrow my focus, I will be looking at diseases of the skeletal system and how to treat them. The most common bone disease is osteoporosis. The bones become weak and are more likely to break. It is most common in elderly women, though anyone can get it. A similar disease is osteopenia which is low bone density. There can be some genetic factors that lead to these two diseases, but mostly they result from a poor diet and an unhealthy lifestyle (Medline Plus). • 17. Gender And Gender Roles Society expects different behaviors from boys and girls. Gender socialization is the tendency of socialization of boys and girls differently. Gender roles are personality, attitude, and behaviors expected of people based on their sex. Socialization is one s process of acknowledgment, acceptance, and awareness of societal values and norms. George Mead theorized that through social interactions, one will develop their personal identity, such as a little girl being gifted a play kitchen set so she can mimic her mother s role and a boy playing with a plastic tool box. Therefore, following the footsteps of their parents, many grown men struggle to be emotionally available or expressive while women continue to feel obligated to satisfy a man. Many are influenced by culture, and many parts of the world, cultures are different. For example, in the U.S., many people associate the color blue with boys. Even as babies, they are treated different and dressed different. A girl is seen only for her outward appearance while a guy is seen for his interests and aspirations, again, objectifying a woman and elevating a man. Men are shamed upon if they are not the bread earner of the household and women are shamed for not being there for their child instead, working a job. • 25. The Need for a Middle Eastern Empire Essay The Imperial History History suggests that great leaders view the world as a divided empire that if united would end problems that a single nation dream of solving. Many leaders of today fight for division, independence, and personal interests. Such leaders want control over small territories just to exercise power and control over a small population resulting in problems such as famine, poverty, and civil wars. Real leaders seek glory by achieving world domination to help their society move forward towards a better future and inviting other societies to join. Hence, spread civilized laws and ideas, end barbarism, and unite mankind. The Macedonians started their campaign of conquering the Persians as a method to unite the Greeks. ... World Domination by an empire has pros and cons, such pros are unity of the people of certain culture or religion, economic growth of the nation, technological advancements, and national security. Unity of people, a term used to describe the strong bond between groups of people living in a nation, or a region sharing the same religion or culture. For example, in the Middle East, Arabs lived there in tribes fighting one another. When Islam was introduced and spread in the region, the Arabs as Muslims stood together united as one nation because they shared the same religion, culture, and followed one leader called the Caliph. This created unity which brought more together as Islam spread leading to an empire. It was a period where all Arabs were brothers and where Arab rule extended throughout the Middle East (Kennedy, 2004). This empire gave Muslims a chance to engage in trade that stretched from China to Europe connecting the East with the West and trade within the empire between cities. During the Umayyad and early Abbasid caliphs, Iraq was the most productive area due to its irrigated alluvium of southern Iraq which generated the most revenues and was four times the revenues of Egypt which was the next richest province (Kennedy, 2004). • 26. The Cosmological Argument On The Existence Of God Theories have arisen from many different philosophers trying to explain the existence of God; the Cosmological Argument is one such theory. The Cosmological Argument has been changed and reviewed for years; however, the focus has always stayed the same. The universe is a prime example that there is a God. A simple Cosmological argument states that: Everything that exists has a cause of its existence. The universe exists. Therefore, The universe has a cause of its existence. If the universe has a cause of its existence, then that cause is God. Therefore, God exists (NA, 2008). In my opinion, this argument has very basic and broad statements that may be difficult or impossible to be proven false. Everything that exists has a cause of its existence and The universe exists are two statements that can be difficult to prove incorrect. We know that nothing is made without a reason behind it, and nothing is made without a process leading up to its creation. The universe exists cannot be proven false without some very abstract thinking involved. We know that the universe exists because you and I exist, everything around us exists, and the world on which we live and the universe in which we live exist. We can conclude that the universe has a cause of its existence because we can prove that the universe exists by stating that humans and objects around us exist. In my opinion, we can can also conclude that everything in the universe has a cause as to why it was created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the Host tells the Merchant what type of tale to tell, claiming that his tale is finished implies that the Host is actually in control of the Merchant s story. Moreover, because the Host makes this statement in the very last line of The Epilogue, there exists a sort of finality in his statement.
