A conditional sentence is composed of an if-clause and a main clause. The if-clause comes first and is followed by a comma. There are three types of conditional sentences: conditional zero uses the present tense in both clauses to describe scientific facts or universal truths. The first conditional uses the present tense in the if-clause and future simple tense in the main clause to talk about possible future situations. The second conditional uses the past tense in both clauses to talk about hypothetical or unlikely situations.
