The document provides instructions for setting up and using a SMARTboard. It outlines 15 steps for connecting the SMARTboard to a laptop and projector, calibrating the board, and using its various functions like writing and erasing. Additional tips are included, like only one tool can be active at a time. SMARTboard technology allows for engaging teaching by interacting with classroom content.

Using a touch screen tablet in the classroomPaul Richards
If there is one aspect of online learning that teachers should not overlook, it is the power of touch screens and annotation tools. These two innovative technology tools combine software and hardware to influence how students engage, connect, and retain the concepts presented to them. Annotation tools can be used to support active learning in the online classroom, whiteboard sessions, and much more. Here are five reasons you should consider using a touch screen in your classroom with annotation software.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

JMeter webinar - integration with InfluxDB and GrafanaRTTS
Watch this recorded webinar about real-time monitoring of application performance. See how to integrate Apache JMeter, the open-source leader in performance testing, with InfluxDB, the open-source time-series database, and Grafana, the open-source analytics and visualization application.
In this webinar, we will review the benefits of leveraging InfluxDB and Grafana when executing load tests and demonstrate how these tools are used to visualize performance metrics.
Length: 30 minutes
Session Overview
-------------------------------------------
During this webinar, we will cover the following topics while demonstrating the integrations of JMeter, InfluxDB and Grafana:
- What out-of-the-box solutions are available for real-time monitoring JMeter tests?
- What are the benefits of integrating InfluxDB and Grafana into the load testing stack?
- Which features are provided by Grafana?
- Demonstration of InfluxDB and Grafana using a practice web application

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

How to use a smar tboard
1. How to use a SMARTboard
Matt Stamm
Frostburg State University
Spring 2012
2. Step 1
Position the SMARTboard against a flat surface or wall.
Click the locks, which are on the bottom, into place to
keep the SMARTboard from moving.
3. Step 2
Connect the laptop to the projector by taking one end
of the VGA cable and plug it into the projector where it
says computer 1 in. Tighten to make sure there is a good
connection. The other end of the VGA cable goes to the
VGA cable on the computer. Again, tighten to make
sure there is a safe connection.
Plug in projector cart and laptop into wall socket.
4. Step 3
Plug in projector cart and laptop into wall socket.
5. Step 4
A USB cable connects the SMARTboard to the computer.
When you plug it in you initialize a set up which takes only
a few seconds. The light will flash on the SMARTboard
and on the pen tray. When the light goes green the
board is functioning.
6. Step 5
To get the video out of the computer onto the projector
you hold down the function key “Fn” and the key with
the monitor symbol at the same time. Usually F7 or F4 on
a PC. That will allow you to choose the presentation on
the projector and notebook. Be patient the screen may
flash black.
8. Step 7
You must calibrate the SMARTboard so it will function like
a computer mouse. To calibrate the Board, press the two
bottoms on the front of the SMARTboard tray at the same
time. When you let go, the computer will ask you to
touch the center of each target and release. Do that
with your hand or pen.
9. Step 8
In classrooms that have a document camera the user
can project an image of a worksheet, or other document
by placing the document beneath the downward
pointing lens of the camera.
10. Step 9
If your class is working from a hard copy worksheet, call
up the document on your computer and guide them
through the content in the same way you would if you
were using a traditional projector.
11. Step 10
To scroll down a webpage, tap once with your finger on
the downward-pointing scroll arrow.
12. Step 11
To put something in the recycle bin, drag the item by
tapping its icon once with your finger and then trace a
path to the recycle bin.
13. Step 12
To write on the SMARTboard, remove
one of the four pens from the tray
below the board.
14. Step 12
It is not necessary to use the pens; you can write with
your finger or any object.
16. Step 14
To use right-click functions press the right-click button
under the pen tray.
17. Step 15
To type, press the virtual keyboard button under the pen
tray.
18. Remember!
The SMARTboard can only recognize one active tool at a
time.
The writing will stay visible until you exit Transparency
Mode. You do this by putting pens and erasers back in
the tray and then touch the screen.
If you do this by accident, "Restore Handwriting" will get
your writing back.
19. SMARTboard technology is an easy, effective way to
engage students in learning. Teachers should consider
the benefits of using a SMARTboard when outfitting their
classrooms.
