This first event will enable prospective members to discuss the kinds of events they would want to attend or organise in Sydney, and make plans for 2023.

The majority of CAMentrepreneurs never attended an Alumni event until they came to one of ours.

The purpose of CAMentrepreneurs is to support business and social entrepreneurship among Cambridge University alumni, current students and others. CAMentrepreneurs is global. Since its launch CAMentrepreneurs has held 59 events in Cambridge, Dubai, Dallas. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Helsinki, Houston, London, New York, Oxford, Paris, Vancouver and Warsaw, as well as online events.
CAMentrepreneurs operates on a TED -> TEDx model, in that we only launch a group when there are people in the city concerned who want to take the lead in getting a group off the ground (and there is sufficient interest).

We have three speakers for the panel:
Miao He, PhD, MBA: senior investment associate at Hadean Venture, a European life sciences fund with a particular focus on the Nordic region. Previously Miao was an Associate at Luminous Ventures, a UK-based venture capital firm focusing on healthcare and other innovative technologies. Miao has worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Illumina, where she developed new algorithms for precision oncology applications and collaborated with Genomics England on the 100,000 Genomes Project in the UK. Miao has also worked in early-stage venture investing in Israel and has carried out consulting work for Cancer Research UK and healthcare start-ups. Miao holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from London Business School. She has published 18 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Nature Genetics and PNAS.
Peter Robinson: co-founder and managing partner of Primary Access & Research, a consultancy which provides specialist advice to investors, entrepreneurs and disruptors, with a particular focus on the healthcare, technology and political risk. Primary researches industry disruption and political risk. Recent advisory and fund-raising engagements include Arctech Innovation, Novai, Solgari, Curam, Bimble and Inari. Prior to establishing Primary, Peter co-founded Redburn, London's largest independent institutional stockbroker, and held senior roles in equity sales and management at Lehman, JPMorgan, and BoA. Peter is also an active private investor.
Peter Cowley: Cambridge-based serial tech entrepreneur (12+), angel investor (75+), mentor, and non-executive director. Peter was named UK Business Angel of the Year 2014/15. He is the President Emeritus of European Business Angel Network, board member of Global Business Angel Network, and previously a chairman of Cambridge Angels. Peter founded and ran the Marshall of Cambridge, Martlet Corporate Angel division, led 30 investment deals, and have been a director on 40+ boards.

- 2. Core objectives • Be useful to business people who are involved in teaching business • Share lessons learned and experience • Offer guidelines • Highlight problems and opportunities
- 3. Values • Entrepreneurship can be taught (if you don’t believe this why are you offering to help?) • Be useful and helpful to those who attend • Be positive and supportive (Even if someone says something stupid, be constructively critical)
- 4. Why Entrepreneurs ? • They have real experience, not just text book • They can be role models. To see someone (who is from the place you are studying) shows its possible • Entrepreneurs must train/coach their staff • teachers often don’t have experience • Setting up and running a business is a practical challenge, not theoretical
- 5. Coaching workshop groups • Know your audience/adjust to age/experience • Don't patronise/assume that those being helped cannot be find answers • Ask basic questions (clients/costs/competition, product/people/process) • don't tell them answers. its not an exam • Help with group presentation if need be
- 6. Problems and opportunities • Problems o The audience will be varied (all kinds of people roll up/not all kids are motivated) o Some entrepreneurs will show off ("look at me") o Entrepreneurs may not realize they have to prioritize the class. • Opportunities o You get to meet new kinds of people o more interesting and fun than hobbies o You are a role model o You are being a good citizen
- 7. Tips and tricks • Get participants involved, ask them to introduce themselves if they are there early • Give information about your business (if appropriate) , but don’t show off • Focus on a subject (Sales, marketing, team building, finance, strategy, etc) • Give examples/challenges from your own experience. How would you deal with <tough problem>?
