Reflection
Although I truly enjoyed reading Family to Family by authors Pipes and Lee, I find
that this book was really focused on those parents who already know and have a
relationship with Jesus Christ and want or need to build a better Christ centered
family life. In reading this book I feel that today, there are so many non believers
who could benefit from the teaching principles in this book. We are all so busy
these days. We are like ships passing in the wind, always coming and going. We as
parents have to be willing to stop and stand for something within our families.
Otherwise what are we really passing on to our children and their children? We must
be mission driven within our families just as we are in the business world. The
authors Pipes and Lee do a great job in pointing this fact out. I would have liked to
see more information to help the reader the parent and future parents to understand
the why this is important. The authors might have used more relevant or popular facts
pertaining to society

Imagine yourself behind the counter or in the drive through window at McDonalds.
You are programmed how to act and what to say. You have been working there for
three years and earn a salary of $5.50 an hour. You have never exceeded 29 hours
while working there. These circumstances are true for over 40 percent of six million
people employed in restaurantstoday. The reason for these circumstances are due to
the change in our society by which the consumer wants the biggest, fastest, and best
product they can get for their money. This change in society can be attributed to a
process known as McDonaldization. Although McDonaldization can be applied to

Its three main characteristics are that it has a division of labour, hierarchy of authority,
and an impartial and impersonal application of rules and policies

a bureaucracy, one would conclude that McDonald s is a bureaucracy. The fact that
it is bureaucracy is supported by the fact that each assigns workers to a specific job
where each worker individually contributes to the overall success of the restaurant
by doing his or her job. For example, McDonalds workers are assigned to work at the
grill, register, or drive through window. The restaurant also has ranks while on the job
such as worker, shift manager, crew chief, and franchise owner. These ranks
demonstrate the hierarchy of authority. Furthermore, the restaurant enforces the
impartial and impersonal application of rules and policies.
Through the eyes of C. Wright Mills and many other theorists, this bureaucratic
demiurge causes alienation of its workers. It also creates powerless workers that
follow the orders from the managers. Mills states that modern bureaucratic
capitalism alienates its workers from both the process and the product of work
(Carter 16). The Frankfurt theorists also believe that alienation is the central issue
when discussing the effects of bureaucratic capitalism on personality (Carter 23). The
workers in bureaucracies are denied such basic needs as creativity

look at Gone Girl in terms of reading it in the feminist theory, paying attention to the

The character of Amy is a complex, determined and intelligent woman. These traits
are against the common stereotypes of women in literature. Amy can appear as a

books and stories. Once I started reading A Very Short Story by Ernest
Hemingway, I found that my reading comprehension of the text was lacking.
Hemingway s work can be entertaining to read, but his use of the Iceberg Principle
and point of view can tend to make the material harder to read. Personal experience
has shown me that his work takes longer to read and understand than an average
short story. The story, has also shown to be lacking in many details that would prove

I already mentioned how Hemingway leaves out the reason for the main character
being in the hospital. Other details that are sorely missed in the story are what
period this story is placed in, backstories for Luz and the main character, and why
Luz left the main character. Also, the jumping through events sporadically causes
more questions than answers by the end of the story. Not only does the lack of
details cause confusion, but also, the way things are worded in the story puzzles the
reader s mind. For example, the very last sentence of the story, A short time after he
contracted gonorrhea from a sales girl in a loop department store while riding in a
taxicab through Lincoln Park (par. 7). This sentence does not include enough correct
punctuation therefore confusing the reader of what is meant. Hemingway s stories
can be entertaining, but his tendencies to omit crucial details, and his choice of

share a few commonalities; expressing strong opposition against segregation, and a

There were also 2 other theories that attempted to explain this dualism of human
nature : (1) The Ontological Explanation by Plato man s inward struggle consists of
being good and being unethical. Plato says that because we are part of both, we are

at it another way, individuals use signs and symbols to interpret and/or explain their

longer part of the collective society, he still holds the sacredness of the signs
/symbols to the same high standard, and he does this by way of festivals, ceremonies,

Network Processors have evolved over the years and have a lot of different types
for same and different purposes. Network Processors are used for moving data
from place to another as Routing, Switching, and Bridging, providing Services as
Traffic Shaping, Security, and Monitoring, also they execute programs to handle
packets in a network. They are one of the most complex systems ever created by
Humans. There are many types of network processors as RISC, CISC, Mainframe,
