How To Place A Quote In An Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of placing a quote within the confines of a larger academic or
literary work may initially seem like a straightforward task. However, delving into the nuances of
this seemingly simple task reveals a layer of complexity that can pose challenges for even
seasoned writers.
Firstly, understanding the different types of quotes and their appropriate usage is essential.
Direct quotes, paraphrased statements, and block quotes each have distinct rules governing their
incorporation into an essay. One must navigate the fine line between providing evidence to
support an argument and avoiding over-reliance on quotes, ensuring that the writer's voice
remains prominent throughout the essay.
The citation style adds another layer of complexity. Whether adhering to APA, MLA, Chicago,
or another style guide, writers must meticulously follow the prescribed format for quoting and
citing sources. The placement of quotation marks, the inclusion of page numbers, and the proper
attribution of the author are crucial details that demand attention.
Moreover, there's the challenge of seamlessly integrating quotes into the essay's flow. The
transition between the writer's own words and the quoted material should be smooth and logical,
avoiding abrupt shifts that disrupt the reader's engagement. Striking a balance between the
writer's voice and the quoted content is an art that requires practice and refinement.
In addition, writers need to be mindful of the context surrounding the quote. A thorough
understanding of the source material is necessary to ensure that the chosen quote aligns with the
essay's overarching theme and contributes meaningfully to the argument. This demands not only
careful reading but also critical analysis to extract the most relevant and impactful quotes.
In conclusion, while the task of placing a quote in an essay may seem straightforward at first
glance, the process is riddled with complexities. From understanding the nuances of different
quote types to navigating citation styles and seamlessly integrating quotes into the essay's flow,
the endeavor demands attention to detail and a nuanced approach. However, mastering this skill
is crucial for producing well-crafted and compelling essays.

Effective Use Of Diction In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, an epistolary novel that structure a diverse narration
enable through letters and dialogue. During the story, he author goes back and forth
from writing from Victor s point of view and other character s perspective in the
letters. The diction used to capture the feeling of abandonment, sorrow, and loss of
identity that the monster felt. Victor also endured the feeling of sorrow because the
very thing he created destroyed his entire family. The diction allowed the audience
to connect to the characters, feel the pain and agony one s faces after making a
wrong decision that affects the rest of one s life.
The structure of Frankenstein allowed the audience to read the letters from all of the
characters perspective including Victor and Elizabeth. Victor would communicate to

From a different perspective the creature would narrate the story using a solemn
tone because he was viewed horrible and disgusting by mankind. Why did I live?
Why, I m the instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence when you had so
wantonly bestowed? (Shelley pg. 125). The creature questioning Victor s actions and
making him a hideous beast. The diction used by the creature instant and extinguish
the spark of existence makes the audience feel the agony of not belonging anywhere.
The word extinguish provides a negative connotation to terminate or the end of
something. The creature wanted to know why his creator brought him into a world
where he was not going to be accepted by. Eventually, leading the creature the curse
all of mankind and became the very thing mankind saw in him as, a monster. The
creature explained to Victor what he experienced from mankind and his angry
towards mankind. All men hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated, who am
miserable beyond all living things! (Shelley pg. 88). The
Venus De Milo Research Paper
For my essay, I chose to discuss Alexanders of Antioch s, Aphrodite, or Venus De
Milo. Although not the most elaborate sculpture, Venus De Milo tells a story in
itself. It is believed to depict Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of love, beauty and
pleasure and in some instances, honored as the Goddess of War. Its association
with graceful beauty, as well as eroticism for the age, helps depict a multi
dimensional sense for the period and its common depictions. Venus De Milo is an
ancient Greek sculpture, created sometime between 100 and 130 BCE, with heavy
reference to the Hellenistic period. It was discovered on April 8, 1820 within the
ancient ruins of the Greek Island Melos. The discovery was made by a man named
Yorgos Kentrotas and was later
Divorce Causes
In the early 1800s, divorce rates fell around 3%, however, in today s generation the
rates increased to 50%. Many people have wondered why there is such an extreme
increase in only two decades, but to understand this long continuing issue the roots of
the problem must be found. There are numerous causes of divorcefor each individual
families; these detrimental causes found most often are abuse, infidelity, and loss of
interest.
Abuse is a pernicious part of a toxic marriage and a frontrunner cause of divorce. In
an interview for Huffington Post, 53% of women say they divorced their spouse
because of emotional and physical abuse. Physical and emotional abuse can cause
a horrific environment for anyone, especially children. Men or women involved in
some type of physically abusive relationship leave mostly for their child s safety,
but others will leave to protect themselves from any further harm. It is extremely
common for an abusive marriage to go on for years at a time, but usually some
type of help is given and the abused spouse may be able to escape the horrors they
endured during their marriage. Emotional abuse is a lot more common in marriages
than physical abuse because a lot of the time it comes from both sides. In most cases
of this kind of abuse, one spouse is constantly putting the other down or they both are
putting each other down. In study for the University of Oklahoma, women said one
of the reasons they divorced their husband was the constant scrutinizing of

Arizona State University Admissions Committee, it is with great enthusiasm and

institution under the Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Post Graduate Certificate
Program. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Keizer University, and
I a Master of Science degree in Psychologyfrom Southern New Hampshire

during the curse of my degrees, I strongly feel that becoming specialized in the
field of Applied Behavioral Analysis is the right fit for me since is it on par with
my interests and passion. For example, I remember as a child watching the Muscular
Dystrophy Association (MDA) telethon, and feeling compassion for people suffering
from this condition. Since my parents did not have the solvent economic means to
send money, I was moved to raise funds in my neighborhood and send it to the MDA.

Soon after my graduation, I became an Adaptive Physical Educator (APE) and
worked at a public school in Puerto Rico for three years. While as an APE my
empathy for those suffering from diverse disabilities increased. Although
circumstances beyond my control forced me to work in other facets, the personal
and professional growth obtained as an APE will follow me for the rest of my life.
After several decades of working on other jobs, and feeling dissatisfied with my
existing profession at that time, I decided to conduct a career assessment. The
assessment pointed out mostly at professions helping people; among them,
psychology. It was then that at 42 years of age, I decided to return to school and study
Environmental Analysis Of Hwy 19 ( Walmart )
On the above date and time, I was conducting an area, check of, 8701 Us Hwy 19
(Walmart) in my marked patrol vehicle when I smelled a strong odor consistent with
marijuana coming from the West side of the grocery entrance.
Upon approach to the West side of the business, I observed three white males
squatting on the curb next to a green Jeep utility consuming alcohol from a dark color
bottled labeled Bud Light. As I exited my patrol vehicle and proceeded toward the
three subjects, the odor of marijuana became stronger. While present with the subjects
Walmart Manager Kathleen Ritz arrived on scene and advised that she would like to

that he needed a ride for alcohol, so his brother, (Jared) enlisted his girlfriend,

to take him to jail, not Scott or Jared. When asked about the other unidentified male,
Joshua was only able to provide a first name of, Joshua.
Contact was then made with the male subject named Joshua in the back of Officer

What Are The Four Stages Of Human Development
Introduction Human development is an interesting field. The field of human
development helps people to study about the way people grow and develop. It is an
interesting are to learn about the personality and learning path of different people
(Ryan, 2008). Human Development lifecycle spans from conception to death and
different individuals can have different characteristics in their development. There
are different theories that explain the way human develops. These theories are the
models that provide the reasons for the behavior of people. These theories also help
to predict the future behavior of people. These theories are also useful in medical
profession and as these theories help nurses to treat the patients (Heckhausen, 2010).

These can be discussed as: Stage 1: Sensori motor (birth to 2 years) In this stage
rapid changes are seen by the child and child started to learn the phenomenon of
cause and effect. Stage 2: Preoperational (2 to 7 years) In this phase, child gathers
better speech communication and started to imagine the future and reflect the past.
Stage 3: Concrete operational (7 to 11 years) In this phase, child started to develop
the extract reasoning ability and child can understand the conservation of matter.
Stage 4: Formal operations (12 to 15 years) In this phase, children can organization
that information and can make meaningful decisions. Lawrence Kohlberg s theory
of moral development Kohlberg has also given staged development model. He has
put the human development process in 6 stages. In stage 1 child are dependent
upon authority and right or wrong for them depends on the instruction from
authority (Allal, 2008). In stage 2, children started to see different sides to the
same issue. In stage 3 and 4 young people started to feel themselves as member of
society and focus to follow the law. In stage 5 and 6 people are concerned about the
values of the society.
Ordinary Tuesday Essay
It was an ordinary day when something terrible occurred to a local football team.
The Borussia Dortmund football team were on their way to their Champion League
Game against the Monaco, they were structured by three explosions. The BBC News
report this incident that occurred on an ordinary Tuesday on the article, Borussia
Dortmund football team bus hit by explosions. The purpose of the article is to
persuade the audience, German citizens, to sympathize the tragedy that occur to a
local football team and to support them with a helping them. It is accomplished
through the use of the rhetorical strategies such as an appeal to pathos and ethos.
First, BBC News appeals to the audience with an appeal to pathos. The article begins
with an explanation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, many Dortmund fans offer Monaco fans a place to stay over night
for they were away from their homes. Hashtags were being also made including
#bedforawayfans, and pictures showed a dinner being shared from fans of each
opposite teams (BBC News). This shows that even when tragedy strikes, these
people are there for each other to move on. No one really expects for opposite
teams who were going to play just a few hours back be talking as if they are family.
It tells the audience that they as well showed support these football teams and the
fans. The audience almost feel moved by what they just read in the article. It starts
off a bit gloomy and fear for what the football team encounter when three
explosions were within them. Towards the end, the article expresses a much more
hopeful tone that puts peace within the reader that the situation was taken care of.
In addition to the appeal to pathos being used, an appeal to ethos is also applied.
The authors used it in order for the audience to trust BBC News because they are
quoting people who were specifically at the event. For example, Dortmund police
said that, t it was a targeted attack on the team, and CEO Watzke said, The whole
team is in state of
The Growth Of Early Los Angeles
To tell the story of the growth of early Los Angeles it is necessary to visit the
culturally significant union station in old downtown on Alameda street. The
buildings owes it begging to the American phenomenon of the railroad, the institution
that allowed for American expansion into the modern era and more specifically the
growth of the west coast metropolis of Los Angelesthat prior was just a small Spanish
town. Just across the street from the Avila adobe, one of the first and oldest existing
Spanish settlements in L.A., lays Union station, a building that holds on to the city s
Spanish roots through Spanish mission style architecture. At the time of its erection,
the building not only told the story of the small Spanish town that Los Angeles was
but also hinted at the industrial metropolis that Los Angeles would be through the art
decolanguage. Through the fine usage and mixture of elements at a macro and micro
scale, Union Station successfully mixes the two languages of Art Deco modern and
Spanish mission style to form a landmark that is a remnant of a significant
transitional period in LA s history. Just like many other U.S cities during the early
20th century los angles experienced a period of unprecedented industrial growth and
population increase that followed. Furthermore there was the need for a
transportation hub that would serve as a common stop for vital transcontinental rail
lines that supported the city s industry, which included the Union Pacific
Indian Steel Industry
INTRODUCTION
Indian Steel Industry
India s economic growth is very much dependent upon the growth of the Indian steel
industry. One of the major indicator of economic development has always been the
consumption of steel. Steel is an essential element in sectors such as housing,
construction and land transportation, special steel s use is growing in engineering
industries such as power generation, petrochemicals and fertilizers. India is at the
central position on the global steel map, with the establishment of new steel mills,
continuous modernization and upgrading old plants, improving backward integration
and energy efficiency.
Steel production in India has increased by a compounded annual growth rate
(CAGR) of 8 % over the period 2002 03 to 2006 07. Growth in India is subjected to
be higher than the world average, as the per capita consumption of steel in India, at
around 46 kg, whereas the world average (150 kg) and that of developed countries
(400 kg). Indian demand is projected to rise to 200 million tonnes by 2015.
Considering the strong demand scenario, most global steel players are aiming for a
major expansion, either through Brownfield or Greenfield route. By 2020, steel
production capacity in India is expected to touch 275 million tones. Greenfield
projects and Brownfield projects are estimated to add 28.7 million tones and 40.5
million tones respectively to the existing capacity of 55 million tonnes.

Enthyme Outline
Thesis: In this chapter, the logical structure of arguments, which the book refers to as
logical structure called an enthymeme . An enthymeme is an argument in which an
audience accepts the clause which supports the claim. Usually, reasons are supported
by claims which state he because clause as the thesis or thought. In order to make a
complete logical structure from an enthymeme, the assumptions have to be connected
to the audience. So you can brief and intelligently persuade your audience with
evidence in addressing any counterclaims. (Ramage, Bean, Johnson 72 74).

The Contractual Boundaries Of A Tenant Relationship
The contractual bounds in a landlord tenant relationship.
The landlord tenant relationship draws its definition upon the existence of a
leasehold estate. A leasehold interest is usually the right to possession by the tenant.
Among the most prominent of real property leases, is the commercial rental
agreement between landlord and tenant. A commercial leaseagreement can be for a
fixed period denoted by the period of the lease. Traditionally since the 18th century,
it is the right of the landlord to put the tenant into possession in England and Wales.
Moreover, it was the duty of the tenant to pay rent as per the lease independent of the
landlord meeting their duties and obligations under the lease agreement for payment

London Canadian Loan Agency Co. further, Section 3(2) of the RDA provides that
a landlord can seize for rent opposing the person of the tenant responsible for the
rent. Therefore the definition of tenant in section 3(1) of the RDA is construed to
even include a subtenant, who during the period of the lease acquires the consent of
the tenant to be actual occupation of the leased premises whether or not he has
become the occupant of the landlord s premise. This was held in the case of Smart
Woman Ltd. v. Saleway Estates Ltd. (1987) (Matauschek 2010).
In enforcing the right to distress, the landlord or his bailiff is restricted from
breaking into the leased premises. Where the landlord goes against this restriction,
the distraint becomes illegal as the court held in Beaver Steel Inc. v. Skylark
Ventures Ltd. (1983). As such the court established in Tutton v. Darke (1860) that
access must be via the recognised ordinary means of entry to the leased premises,
that is through authorized means of access such as an unlocked door (Mackenzie
Phillips 2014).
The general rule is that the right to distress can only be enforced against goods
originating from the leased premises. However, the court has held in Gastown
Investment 21 Ltd. v. Purple Onion Cabaret Inc., [2005] that a landlord cannot
enforce this right against those goods that have a legal right only such as a liquor
license. Moreover, this right is also not available for fixtures that have been annexed

Paul CГ©zanne s Influence
Paul CГ©zanne had a great influence on other artists in his period and even those
who came after his death. One of his work that had the most impact was The Large
Bathers. Picasso and Matisse can be considered as artists who were inspired by him.
But they also broke free of CГ©zanne s work. To see how they did so, let s examine
Picasso s Les Demoiselles d Avignon and Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre compared to
CГ©zanne s The Large Bathers.
Matisse s work is similar to CГ©zanne s. Both artists used bright colors for their
painting. When we look at Matisse painting, we notice that just like CГ©zanne the
landscaped is set as a stage for the painting. In both works trees are planted at the
sides and in the far distance, and their upper boughs are spread
Fashion Values In The Fashion Industry
The current reality of clothing production, called fast fashion, is the industry standard
of mass producing luxury styles in a matter of weeks. To do so, clothes are churned
out quickly using poor quality materials. This is problematic because of the large
amount of unnecessary environmental damage that this business model causes. The
fashionindustry should abandon the current trend of fast fashion and disposable
clothingto decrease the amount of hazardous environmental waste created. The
fashion industry should adopt slow fashion values that aim to cut excess consumer
waste by changing the current societal norms around fashion buying and clothing
disposal. Fast fashion has become the pinnacle of the fashion industry because it is
very profitable. Cheap material and cheap overseas labor has made places like
Walmart, Zara, and H M twice as profitable as any retail store (Cline, The Clothes
Make the Movement , 21). The average American household spends one thousand
and seven hundred dollars on apparel every year. One third of the average
household expense is claimed by women aged sixteen and older who spend over
five hundred dollars on clothing and shoes annually (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
That dollar amount translates into an average of sixty eight items of clothing and
seven pairs of shoes per the average American (Cline, The Clothes Make the
Movement , 21). Cheap textile materials quickly fall apart, lose color and shape, and
are replaced by new fashion trends.

The Colossus and Daddy by Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath is one of the greatest poets of all time the queen of confessional poetry.
Her writing is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one
way. Sylvia Plath herself was complicated, and she struggled with her own personal
hardships up until the day she took her own life. Plath s father passed when she was
only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only though the rest of her
childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems, such as
The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father.
Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot
only be interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or
even understand through her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The
Colossus, a poem widely believed to stem from her own experiences with death and
depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery that exposes the pain of living
forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large statue. A
colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes,
one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was
considered one of the tallest statues during that time. The speaker of Sylvia s poem
tries to put together a man, whether it be her father or not, to understand him. She
considers him a monument, a colossus, an ancient wonder of the world that holds

The Autonomic Nervous System
Sleep is necessary for basic health and survival. It plays a large role in an individual
s mental, emotional, and physiological welfare and functioning. After years of sleep
research focusing on sleep wake cycles, evidence points to the conclusion that sleep
deprivation has detrimental consequences, not only on rodents, but humans as well
(Cheng et al., 2015). In the past century, the average amount of time that adults sleep
has decreased significantly. Consequently, sleep problems have become an epidemic,
taking their toll on the health of adult populations in numerous ways. The National
Sleep Foundation (NSF) conducted a Gallup Poll in March 2002 in which American
lifestyles, sleep habits, and sleep problems were surveyed. The results... Show more

Monitoring HRV can provide information about the function of the autonomic
nervous system. HRV is a non invasive index of the neural control of the heart
(Acharya, Sing, Ping Chua, 2004). Although it is difficult to establish a particular
standard normal heart rate for a given individual, most individuals have a typical
range from 60 to 100 beats per minute (Fox et al., 2007). However, the interval
between each heartbeat constantly varies. High frequency variability in RR
reflects parasympathetic activation, while a slower variability in RR reflects a
combination of both parasympathetic and sympathetic modulation along with non
autonomic factors. When interpreting HRV data, there are several components in
the power spectrum that can have fluctuating ranges. A power spectrum is a plot
of the portion of a signal s power or energy per unit time, falling within given
frequency bands. The three major bands of the power spectrum in HRV are high
frequency (HF), low frequency (LF), and very low frequency (VLF). A HF peak
typically ranges between 0.15 Hz to 0.4 Hz, while a LF peak ranges from 0.06 to
0.15 Hz. A VLF peak is below .05 Hz (Kamath Fallen, 1993). The LF is associated
with blood pressure control and reflects sympathetic activity. The HF is correlated
with respiratory sinus arrhythmia and reflects parasympathetic activity

INTRODUCTION
1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
BONUS ISSUE
Bonus issues are simply distribution of additional stocks to the existing shareholders.
It is a free issue of shares, without a subscription price, made to existing shareholders
in proportion to their current investment. A firm can distribute bonus shares by using
retained earnings or accumulated capital reserves. The relationship between Bonus
issues and share prices has been the subject of much empirical discussion within the
finance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The current study is to identify whether the announcement of bonus issue and stock
split has any impact on the stock price.
1.3OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
The various objectives are * To analyze the impact of announcement of stock split and
bonus shares. * To investigate whether this would lead to superior profitability. * To
see whether there is any abnormal returns after the announcement of bonus issue and
stock split * To find out the most important determinants of buying decision making
of companies announcing bonus shares
1.4RESEARCH METHOD
The research methods would be event study and signaling hypothesis. This can be
done with the help of tools like T tests and graphs.
1.5EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH
The research contributed towards the factors that lead to abnormal returns on
announcement of bonus issue and stock splits. The research helps us to analyze the
market reaction on announcement of stock splits.
1.6STRUCTURE OF THE THESIS
Empirical studies in India and abroad have proved that there is significant abnormal
return around bonus issue announcement. These have been mainly proved using
event study and the signaling hypothesis. The study would provide an insight into
the problem of whether there is any change in the stock price on issue of the bonus
shares and stock split. This would be done by building a model by using tools like
Surrogate Motherhood Is Considered The Most
Controversial...
Surrogate motherhood is considered the most controversial form of medically
assisted conception. Surrogacy is defined as an arrangement by which a woman
gives birth to a baby on behalf of a woman who is incapable of conceiving babies
herself or is infertile. The issue of surrogacy has been running for almost three
decades. Elizabeth Cane was the first woman in the United States to legally become a
surrogate mother in 1980 (Chittom and Wagner). Surrogate births are illegal in many
countries, including some states in the United States. For example, it is illegal in
Michigan, Washington, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and New York, whereas it legal
in California, Oregon, Texas, and Arkansas (Chittom and Wagner). According to the
Organization of Parents Through Surrogacy(OPTS), about 22,000 babies have been
born from surrogate mothers in the United States since surrogacy became legal in the
1970s (Chittom and Wagner).
There are two types of surrogacy: traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy. In
traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother is impregnated using the sperm of the
intended father by a procedure called donor insemination. In this case, the surrogate
mother and the intended father are genetically related to the baby. In gestational
surrogacy, a procedure called in vitro fertilization is used to impregnate the surrogate
mother using a couple s fertilized ovum (Chittom and Wagner). There are two types
of surrogacy arrangements: altruistic and commercial. In
Pros And Cons Of Prisons In Prison
Convicted criminals are incarcerated to serve their sentences in various prisons.
Most of the prisons have all type of routines adhered to by the people who are
within their environment. Prisons are classified according to the level of security
available and type of prisoners they accommodate. Prisons having prisoners of
lowest risk levels and serving shorter sentences are referred to as minimum security
prisons. Medium security prisons accommodate prisoners of slightly higher security
risks such as those who are violent. Maximum security prisons have most violent and
those of highest security threats. Multi use prisons have prisoners of different
security classifications. Specialty prisons have prisoners with special needs such as
mental illness, disability or HIV/AIDS.
Correctinal officers serving at the prison premises have the best first hand informatin.
With this privilage, I managed to interview an officer from the innamate prison center.
The information collected was correlated to works by other authors who have
reviewed the prison institutional correction. Therefore, further clarification on this
correction is elaborated in this paper. The prison life cycle, events, terminations aims
and achievements of prison life are hereby contained.
Arrival at prison After a long conversation with a correctional officer, I found out
that once new prisoners arrive, they undergo several interviews, and interrogations.
They are informed about various prison rules, regulations and procedures which are
supposed to be followed and must be adhered to, and the consequences of breaking
them. He further explained that the new prisoners are informed about their rights and
privileges. The prisoners are informed of various educational courses and training
available in prison. After the brief introduction to prison, they are then told the reason
for their imprisonment. Each of them is assigned a unique number for identification.
The correctional officer elaborated that prisoners who might be having any
possessions are usually needed to hand them over to the authorities where they are
safely kept until they are released. Also, upon arrival at the prison, one is given a
prison number that must stay same even

the family cat, Puss, as an animal that deserves to be treated with respect. Whenever
Puss is mentioned in the text, the motheris trying to teach Charles a lesson on the

The Great Gatsby s Treatment Of Women In The 1920s
In the 1920 s, society underwent changes as the result of women s rights, prohibition,
organized crime, and the infamous stock market crash of 1928. As women gained
independant rights, men were furious about this despite the fact they had always been
superior to women. In the novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Tom
Buchanan and Jay Gatsbyexemplify the treatment men had towards women in the
1920 s. Tom Buchanan, a prominent man who inherits his family s wealth, is married
to Daisy Buchanan, Tom takes advantage of his wife, by publicly taking other women
out and treating them to his lavish lifestyle. Tom Buchanan will do anything to
suppress his lovers to further the superiority he has over women. Fitzgerald s use of

When Tom claims that Daisy actually does love him, he suppresses her opinion by
putting words in her mouth to aid his argument. Tom perceives the need that he
must speak for his wife as if she can not speak for herself. Also, Tom claims that
Daisy obtains foolish ideas, and that she doesn t know what she s doing. He implies
that she is crazy and it is understandable that she fools around because of that. This
reflects the misogynistic views men had towards women in this time period as they
silenced women with their opinions to prove their
Roman Concrete
With the development of Roman concrete as well as the design of the Roman arch,
the construction of unique innovative aqueducts were constructed. Other structures
erected with these design features were colossal Roman Structures such as roads,
dwellings, bath house, and amphitheaters.
According to Yegul (Accessed 2015), Roman concreteor opus caementicium was
developed around 45 BCE. Concrete was used by the Romans as a building material
because it converts to a hard surface like a rock when mixed in the right combination
of components. It takes three components to make a concrete substance. The three
substances are an aggregate such as limestone, a binding agent such as clay or mud,
and water. It was discovered that if you combine clay and limestone and expose it to
extreme heat temperatures that it will temper. After these substances temper, they are
then crushed into a powdery substance. At this point in the process this powdery
mixture when mixed with water can be formed into many different shapes for
building. The mixture then sets with time and air. It develops into a very sturdy
material which can be used in the construction of buildings.
Although the Romans did not invent concrete they did contribute to its uniqueness of
the mixture of components by adding pozzolona. Pozzolona is distinctive volcanic
dust originating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concrete also enabled the Roman to use odd shaped bricks with the concrete to bind
them together in constructing these important buildings. According to Kamm (2015),

it. This was known as opus incertum. With opus reticulatum square based pyramids of
stone were inserted with the heads facing inwards. A further development was opus

Korean Air 801
WHAT HAPPENED?
The day of August 6, 1997 was a time that changed the Korean Airlines Flight 801.
Korean Airlines was operating a Boeing 737 300 when it crashed into a high terrain
towards the Won Guam International Airport in Agana, Guam which was about three
miles southwest.
Operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), Flight 801 was in route from the
Seoul, Korea Kimpo International Airport. On board there were two pilots, one
flight engineer, 14 flight attendants and 237 passengers when they impacted Nimitz
Hill while on an approach to runway 6L. The results of this terrible crash were
fatalities for 228 people of the 254 on board.

There are recommendations for the various groups that were assisting in the
investigation of this accident. The recommendations that were directed to the Korean
Civil Aviation Bureau was that they would require them to revise video training for
Guam to emphasize that instrument approaches should be expected. They also
wanted them to go into detail with these approaches and any terrain that should be of
question. They wanted to make sure that the Aviation Bureau would conduct
thorough training for the approaches that had terrain close to the airport. The Federal
Aviation Administrationdefinitely had their work cut out for them because there is
a great deal of recommendations specifically intended towards them. Possibly
create an advisory or report that would put Guam International Airport in a
different category and only those that had certain upgrades or training would be
permitted to fly there. The air traffic control controllers needed to trained and
reminded of following the ATC protocol. Consider work on the glide slope and the
approach procedures that could be alerted in training sessions or circular advisories.
If a new approach was going to be implemented then it would be necessary that they
would be aware of the changes. The United States air carrier POIs to ensure that the
air carrier pilots would conduct briefings for instrument approach that backs up the

The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement
Purpose
This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand
placement is an advertising technique used by companies to promote their products
through a non traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film,
television, or other media (Product Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that
not all brand placements are equally effective. Early studies have shown mixed
results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand appearing in the film
or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results towards
brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence
(how prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how
well the placement is related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s
recognition of brands and their attitude towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters,
Purnawirawan, 2012).
Methodology
The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of
brand placement characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition
in this process. They conducted a thorough literature review and developed eight
hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of prominence on brand recognition
and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and attitude, the
interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand
recognition in brand attitude
Isolation In Jane Eyre
In the novel, Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte portrays how isolation and exile can cast
a damaging effect on one s life through a foil between Jane and Bertha. Initially
Jane was worth nothing while on the other hand, Bertha was initially rich,
beautiful, and everyone wanted to marry her. The roles were switched. Jane
established herself, somewhat, and Bertha went crazy . Jane was isolated as a
child physically and mentally. Jane was locked in the red room for over a night.
Mentally she was isolated because as a child she lived with people from a different
social class than her own. Bertha was insane because she had been locked in a room
for fifteen years. Damaging effects came from this. Bertha Mason bit a man, caught

St. Louis Childrens Museum Research Paper
Have you ever heard of the St.Louis Children s Museum? It is awesome and plus you
will never see anything like it. It is a big climbing area made out of recycled metal
scraps, a plane on top and everything you could wish for as a 10 year old kid. I mean
when you were 10 tell me you didn t want to climb on everything you saw and you
could do exactly that at the St.Louis Children s Museum! It was heaven! So my
brother who was 6 and I went off to the races.
First we went straight for the plane. All we could see from the inside was tube like
metal rods, a metal small house and the plane! It was so far away and so high up.
So it didn t help that I was kinda afraid of heights. But when I look back down to

Outsiders By Howard S. Becker
Outsiders Howard S. Becker 1.When a rule is enforced, the person who is
supposed to have broken it may be seen as a special kind of person, one who
cannot be trusted to live by the rules agreed on by the group. He is regarded as an
outsider. But the person who is thus labeled an outsider may have a different view
of the matter. He may not accept the rule by which he is being judged and may not
regard those who judge him as either component or legitimately entitled to do so.
Hence, a second meaning of the term emerges: the rule breaker may feel his judges
are outsiders. This quote from the book Outsiders by Howard S. Becker gives the
idea that there are social laws, or rules , and when broken you are considered an
outsider. This is shown when Becker, as seen above, says, When a rule is enforced
. What he says also sets up the different points of view. When Becker says, person
who is supposed to have , he means the person who breaks the rule may not
consider it a rule at all or just not think it applies to him, a special kind of person .
Showing how the deviant person sets himself/herself apart from the general public,
this person will not be offended by the people who judge him because he sees the
said judger as an outsider himself. Because the outsiders or said rule breakers can
see the people not breaking the social norms as outsiders too, it sets up a subculture
or a deviant society, where there is mutuality in non conformity. On page one hundred

sandwiches and some apples and a good bottle of wine. They get in his car and he
started it up. They drive through the streets of Berlin and gaze out at the lushious
cloudy sky. They passed bakeries and pubs. At last they reach the countryside.
They park their car on the side of the dirt road and get out. Wes grabbed the blanket
and Maggie grabbed the picnic basket with the bottle of wine. They walk over to
fence and and climb under. They walk up a hill and place down the blanket on top.

Communication Is A Basic Tool For Humans Essay
Communication is a basic tool for humans as it allows the relationship with the
environment, with which it is inherent in the human condition because human beings
need to establish and maintain relationships that provide gratification and collect
information that to identify needs for welfare. The task of communicating has
always existed. As humans we interact with our environment, continuously we emit
messages (verbal or non verbal), to the world around us. From nursing to establish a
correct support relationship with patients, we must learn to communicate. For this
we need to acquire a range of abilities and skills that will ensure the wellbeing of
the patient in a holistic aspect (bio psycho social) such as empathy and active
listening based on respect. In short, knowing what to say, how to say and what to do
in any situation in which, it is not detrimental to the physical or social individual, but
it is in psychological. Similarly we act as transmitters to broadcast a message, when
we interact with our patients, in turn, act as receptors in the process of
communicating, so, we must know how to listen, be assertive, empathetic, and non
judgmental, base ourselves on respect, use the feedback ... and ultimately, be
authentic, defining authenticity. Considering the person as a holistic being (bio
psychosocial) should, as nursing professionals, plus include in our mere technical
intervention focused on improving the quality of life physically and / or social focus

The Importance Of Obstetric Services For Pregnant
Women...
1.) Obstetric services are provided to pregnant women for before, during, and after
birth. These services are very expensive; however, they are very important.
Discontinuing these practices could create a multiple of problems. A pregnancy
can be a very scary time in a women s life, especially if this is her first birth.
Obstetricians help a soon to be mother understand a variety of different facts, such
as due date, nutrition for the fetus, monitoring complications and so much more!
With such a heavy expense with not equal return, hospitals are beginning to stop
these services. The article by Commins explained how hospitals are cutting the
costs by having a family doctor deliver a child, instead of hiring obstetricians.
Without a specialist there could be a raise in postnatal deaths. My older sister was
born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. Without a team of
specialized, well trained doctors, my sister may have not of survived. Not only would
the death rate of infants increase, women would also feel uneasy about their
pregnancy. Take Moberly, Missouri for example, the Moberly Rural Health Clinic
is about 30 minutes from where I grew up. Moberly Rural Health Clinic has one
obstetrician/gynecologist for labor, which is awesome for those who live in the
surrounding area. I visited my little cousins who had just been born there. It was a
happy experience; if my aunt had to drive an hour to Columbia to give birth she
could have not made it to the University
Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
In his novel Whale Done, Ken Blanchard illustrates the power that his Whale Done
strategy can have on a manager s relationships, not only with his employees but also
with his family and friends. Blanchard argues that his strategies, including redirection
and accentuating the positive, can make a major difference in work and family
relationships. He believes that these strategies will increase employee productivity
and forge stronger relationships through positive interactions. In an easy to read,
informative style, Blanchard communicates how I can put his strategies in place in
my life to make more effective choices within my relationships.
One of the biggest issues with the GOTCHA response is the ripple effect it has

Blanchard illustrates this when Jim Barnes implicitly threatens Wes Kingsley s job
because Wes is being too soft. Jim assumes that since Wes, like every worker, lacks
motivation and wants to do as little as possible while still collecting a pay check, it
is his responsibility to provide a direct reward or punishment in order to ensure Wes s
performance. This contrasts sharply with the style Wes learns from Shamu and the
Seaworld team, who believe that trust between whale and trainer (in Wes s case,
manager and employee) is most important. This falls in line with Theory Y
management in its belief that under proper, caring (WRONG WORD) management,
workers can be self motivated and flourish. Similar to how Dave Yardley believes
Shamu inherently enjoys performing (when treated well), Theory Y/Whale Done
managers trust that their workers want to succeed and welcome responsibility above
the bare minimum. The managers believe that it is just as much in their employees
nature to work and complete tasks as it is to rest or play. Both Blanchard and
MacGregor illustrate that Theory Y/Whale Done management is clearly best not only
for employee morale, but also productivity. When a manager trusts his or her
employees to excel and an
Development Of Building Codes Of South Korea Essay
BILD 364 Building Code Compliance
Assignment 1: Development of Building Codes
Development of Building Codes in
South Korea
Glen Stricot Tarboton
Due 23rd March 2016
Introduction
Seoul, South Korea, has grown rapidly since the Korean War of the 1950 s to
become the worlds second largest metropolitan area with over 23 million residents in
2014 (National Statistics Office ( 통계мІ)). This growth has occurred economically
as well, with an average GDP increase of 10 percent between 1962 and 1994 (The
World Bank). This report looks into the development of South Korean buildingcodes.
Figure 1: Timeline of Significant Events in South Korea s Building History The 1970
s oil crisis occurred when an oil embargo was imposed by members of the
Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries. This led to fuel shortages
and high prices around the world (History.com). Due to Korea s limited resources,
it imports all of its coal, oil and natural gas. At the time of the United States
Department of Energy s report into Building Energy Codes in the Republic of
Korea, Korea was the second largest importer of coal and one of the largest for oil
and natural gas. It also reported an emission of 515 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide
by the country in the year 2006 (Evans, Chon and Shui).
Early Building Standards
The first official building standard came into effect in 1977. It was a result of the
1970 s oil crisis. This outlined the mandatory building standards of insulation
thickness.
Ernest Hemingway Symbolism
In the wide swept plains of Africa, the sun stands as high as a tyrant, beating down
with unforgiving ferocity. The plains are infested with beasts that have claws, horns,
or tusks that growl, hiss, or grunt. These beasts lives are filled with struggle, trying to
survive; Death is not unfamiliar here. Assaulting the sun s blue domain, Kilimanjaro
stands unmoving: undying. No beasts live at the peak of Kilimanjaro and few beasts
attempt to summit the House of God. In the distance a man lies in the shade of a
mimosa tree, making an acquaintance with Death. It is the man s final words and
thoughts that make the story, The Snows of Kilimanjaro. The black ink on the
colorless page tells the story of this man, Harry, and his interaction with his wife on
his deathbed while remembering his own life and wishing he had done more. Behind
the bars of words lies a deeper truth common to all of mankind. Ernest Hemingway
conveys in his short story the placement of man in terms of the temporary and the
eternal. He depicts society s grievance towards death. He explores the permanence
of death and the denial of its power of mankind. Hemingway also presents two sides
of death, how it is both wild and savage, yet welcoming and trusted. By careful usage
of setting, characters, and weather, Hemingway writes more than a story of one man
dying, but the story of all men dying.
Harry lies under a mimosa tree, rooted in the heart of Africa. This setting is important
to the story in many ways.
Sea Cows Extinction
Both the reading and lecture talk about the extinction of sea cows. The reading
claims that there are three reasons about the extinction of sea cows. Howevere the
lecture argues that no evidence proves those reasons that are correct. Thus, the
lecture holds an opposite view of the reading. Firstly, the professor mentions that
sea cows have not been overhunted by people. In other words, sea cows were pretty
massive and enomous. But native Sebirian people were not very much. So people
could not hunt sea cows and they didn t hunt. So it s unlikely that native peole have
been overhunt sea cows. The point is the opposit of the belief in the reading that
people caused sea cows deline since they have been overhunt. Therefor, the professor

promoting engagement, trust and openness. They achieve it on the basis of learning

Case Study in Nursing
INTRODUCTION
Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) refers to a complex series of rare but well
studied enzymatic errors of metabolism with deficient levels of different enzymes
involved in the synthesis of cortisol (hydrocortisone).
CAH comprises a group of disorders resulting from defective synthesis of adrenal
corticosteroids. Lack of glucocorticoids, especially cortisol, causes various kinds of
metabolic problems. The response to low levels of cortisol is increased production
of corticotropin (ACTH). Lack of mineralocorticoids, primarily aldosterone (steroid
hormone), causes sodium and water imbalance which, in some cases, can be fatal.
The various forms of CAH represent defects in the different stages of corticosteroid

Shakespeare And Kingship Essay
Shakespeare And Kingship
In writing his history plays, Shakespeare was actually commenting on what he
thought about the notion of kingship. Through his plays, he questions the divine
right of kings, which the kings and the aristocracy used heavily in their favour to
win the people s love. In Macbeth, King Richard II and King Henry IV part 1,
Shakespeare shows us his opinion of kingship in general.
Although the plays are written about individual kings, I think that Shakespeare used
the plays as an opportunity to voice his opinion on kings and kingship in general.
This was assisted by the fact that he was not prohibited by the true events, because it
is well known that all of Shakespeare s plays were written purely for entertainment ...

shows us that this was not the case and again questions the notion of the divine right
of kings through Hal s actions.

Of my young Harry
Through his plays, Shakespeare also shows that he is disgruntled by the way in
which the kings treat the common people, by writing the plays so that the kings
always appear selfish and as if they disregard the people. In Macbeth, Shakespeare
shows the comparison between Duncan, a king who treated people well and was
respected for it, against Macbeth, a fallen hero , who after hearing the prophesies of
the witches succumbed to his driving ambition. Duncan listened to the people and
was widely respected, whereas Macbeth ignored the people, and associated only with
his noble friends. Macbeth thought that he was assured the kingship and so he
thought that there was no need to listen or respect the common people in the least. It
was because of the witches prophecies that Macbeth became king, and it was the
prophesies which brought his downfall Macbeth felt assured
Realism In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost A
Man
In his short story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright uses realism to
illustrate Dave s struggle to come to terms with his identity, as well as the intricacies
of adulthood. After convincing his mother to let him buy a gun, he inadvertently
shoots and kills his work mule the next day. However, the ways in which Dave
handles his various predicaments are immature and juvenile approaches that detract
the maturity he desires. Instead of confessing to accidentally killing his work mule,
Dave invents a dubious tale to avoid the consequences of his actions. Later that night,
when he goes to retrieve the gunfrom its hiding place, Dave considers but quickly
dismisses the idea of shooting at Mr. Hawkins s house, a rather immature way of

What Makes Bonnie And Clyde
Abstract
In the opinion of most Bonnie and Clyde where the most famous and most
romantically involved criminals in American history, Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and
Clyde Chestnut Barrow were two young Texans having and early 1930s crime spree
before my time of birth would forever leave their legacy to be criticized by many and
envied by most. Most people only live to tell the story of what was expected, but I
am here to state the facts of who Bonnie and Clyde really were, grasping your
attention, making your mind run full with imagination and placing yourself in the era
owned by Bonnie and Clyde the 1930 s.

Tender Mercies
#8220;Tender Mercies, #8221; written by Horton Foote, is a screenplay, which
presents to the reader ordinary people, who are trying to live decently in an
unpredictable and violent world. The reader comes to be aware of many dramatic
scenes where the central characters have come to experience many complex but yet
fascinating situations in their lives. Reading this screenplay the reader will come
to acknowledge one of the centralized themes in #8220;Tender Mercies, #8221;
which is the theme of redemption. For those who are unaware of the word,
redemption as it applies to the screenplay #8220;Tender Mercies #8221; is the
literary word meaning to be saved or saving someone from an experience or a
situation. The reader can observe this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Sunny had gotten a father figure for himself. The reader also sees
Sunny #8217;s approval of Mac, when Sunny fights with the other kids at school
when they taunted him about Mac. When Sunny fought for Mac the reader comes
to comprehend that Mac is a good person. Having a father figure, Sunny was now
able to do many things, such as playing ball with someone he was able to refer to
as #8220;dad #8221; and with someone who loved him so dearly. Being acquainted
to such a situation and how both Rosa Lee and Sunny benefited on Mac #8217;s
arrival to the gas station, the reader has come to view another act of redemption.
The reader can see another act of redemption when Mac and his daughter try to
redeem their lost relationship. Even though, Mac #8217;s daughter wanted to
redeem her relationship with her father, it #8217;s important to make note that it
was mainly for the wrong reasons. One reason why it was important for Mac
#8217;s daughter to redeem their relationship was because she wanted to get
approval for her seeing a man that her mother disapproved of. Another reason was
so that she can get money from her father after she runs off with her new boyfriend
because she knew that she would be unable to get money from her mother.
Unfortunately, Mac was unable to get very close to his daughter as he had in mind
because his daughter had been found dead. Although, this kind of redemption was for
the wrong reasons and that it lasted for
Analysis Of The Film Cold Mountain
The movie Cold Mountain has many talking points; I will be going over a few of
them in this paper. I will first be going over desertion and the effect it had on the
Confederate side during the Civil War. Desertion played a huge role is the war,
even more than I originally thought. Then, I will be diving into how the Civil War
affected family life, as the men went off to fight, leaving the woman and kids at
home take care of the homes. Lastly I will be arguing how the film Cold Mountain
is a pretty historically accurate film, using great detail with the props and storyline,
to fully immerse viewers to life in the 1860s. Desertion during the Civil War plagued
both sides, but was detrimental to the weaker South. In Cold Mountain, Inman, who
was a Confederate Soldier, deserts the army after being shot in the neck during a
skirmish with the North. His goal was to get home to Ada, a woman from Cold
Mountain who was waiting for his return. This kind of abandonment was not
uncommon during the lengthy war, with around 10 to 15 percent of Confederate
Soldiers deserting throughout the war. The 44th Virginia Regiment had the highest
desertion rate during the war of, nearly 30 percent. Many things caused this, such as:
faulty equipment, spoiled food, and unresponsive leadership. Many of the Soldiers
were not happy with the Confederate governments polices, but did not come right out
and say it. The Conscription Act, which required all males between 18 and 35 to
serve in the
Similarities Between Bergman And Ingmar Bergman
Ingmar Bergman. Ingmar Bergman s films commonly deal with his doubts about the
existence of God, earning him the sobriquet the protestant atheist . His religious
interests came from his childhood. His father, Erik, was a Lutheran pastor of the old
school. Although the two never had a close relationship, Ingmar would often travel
with his father to country parishes, where he listened to the sermons and hymns and
studied the icons and architecture to pass the time during services that seemed
interminable to a restless young boy. His relationship with his mother Karin wasn t
any more nurturing and Ingmar grew up in a lonely house. He found solace in Puppet
Theater and projections. Throughout his long film career Bergman continued to deal
with themes of psychological torment,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its focus is more on psychological trauma; the explosion of fear and emotion when
facing past regrets. There is however, a direct correlation between the two. Unlike
The Seventh Seal, the religious element in Wild Strawberries is minor even though
both are variations on the questions that constitute the majority of comprehensive
themes in Bergman s work. In both films the protagonist must face the truth about his
past and present. This is achieved here through what Carl Jung called The Night Sea
Journey . A journey into the individuals own subconscious. Dreams and
hallucinations are the most accessible mediums of this type of psychic trip; the
proximity of death as in Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal can provide a
catalyst for such a journey. Bergman has an ability to convince an audience that the
dream sequence projected on the screen, while inherently artificial is believable. It is
through these dream sequences that Bergman s symbolism becomes enigmatic,
probing the recesses of the individuals psyche and the complexities of human
relationships that could not otherwise be explained
The Story of Us Essays
Using the Gibb categories give three examples of defensive and or supportive
behaviors that Ben and Katie used in the film.
The story of us is an excellent movie that portrays the roller coaster of marriage in a
humorous and cleaver way. The film reiterates the key concepts we have learned in
our interpersonal communication class, in particular chapters ten and eleven on
conflict management and improving communication climates. According to Gibb
people feel defensive when they perceive that they are under attack. When defensive
responses arise in interpersonal communications, it is the relationship itself that
becomes defensive. This is evident in the Jordan s communication patterns, the
majority of exchanges between Ben and Katie ... Show more content on

In the story of Harold and the purple crayon, when Harold wants to go for a walk in
the moonlight, but there is no moon, he draws one. Similarly Ben s views of marriage
and relationships is unrealistic, he states
that he has always imagined life to be like this Two people meet, fall in love and
then 50 60 years later one of them dies and then a few days after that the other dies
because it just can t live without each other (Reiner Rob, 2001) .
Defensive behavior from one party in a relationship evokes defensive behavior on
the part of the other. This dynamic cycle of defensiveness can intensify as
described In Gibb s second category of defensive behavior, control in the film this
is exhibited in the scene when Ben and katie return from a romantic holiday in
Venice. Their first night back, they compose a cuddly letter to their two kids, who
are off at camp. Within minutes, the conversation is dotted with grace notes of
dissatisfaction, which grow steadily louder until they ve drowned out everything
else. Should Ben and Katie have sex now, or after they finish the letter? Was Katie
more spontaneous in Venice? Was the vacation a charade? I just don t want us to
get to the point, says Ben, where we can t make love unless there s a concierge
downstairs. (Reiner Rob, 2001) . The argument isn t really about sex, of course. It s

How To Place A Quote In An Essay

  • 1. How To Place A Quote In An Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of placing a quote within the confines of a larger academic or literary work may initially seem like a straightforward task. However, delving into the nuances of this seemingly simple task reveals a layer of complexity that can pose challenges for even seasoned writers. Firstly, understanding the different types of quotes and their appropriate usage is essential. Direct quotes, paraphrased statements, and block quotes each have distinct rules governing their incorporation into an essay. One must navigate the fine line between providing evidence to support an argument and avoiding over-reliance on quotes, ensuring that the writer's voice remains prominent throughout the essay. The citation style adds another layer of complexity. Whether adhering to APA, MLA, Chicago, or another style guide, writers must meticulously follow the prescribed format for quoting and citing sources. The placement of quotation marks, the inclusion of page numbers, and the proper attribution of the author are crucial details that demand attention. Moreover, there's the challenge of seamlessly integrating quotes into the essay's flow. The transition between the writer's own words and the quoted material should be smooth and logical, avoiding abrupt shifts that disrupt the reader's engagement. Striking a balance between the writer's voice and the quoted content is an art that requires practice and refinement. In addition, writers need to be mindful of the context surrounding the quote. A thorough understanding of the source material is necessary to ensure that the chosen quote aligns with the essay's overarching theme and contributes meaningfully to the argument. This demands not only careful reading but also critical analysis to extract the most relevant and impactful quotes. In conclusion, while the task of placing a quote in an essay may seem straightforward at first glance, the process is riddled with complexities. From understanding the nuances of different quote types to navigating citation styles and seamlessly integrating quotes into the essay's flow, the endeavor demands attention to detail and a nuanced approach. However, mastering this skill is crucial for producing well-crafted and compelling essays. For those seeking assistance with essay writing or similar tasks, a variety of resources are available, including online platforms like HelpWriting.net. These services can provide expert guidance and support, ensuring that essays meet the highest standards of clarity, coherence, and academic integrity. Although not the most elaborate sculpture, Venus De Milo tells a story in itself. It is believed to depict Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of love, beauty and pleasure and in some instances, honored as the Goddess of War. Its association with graceful beauty, as well as eroticism for the age, helps depict a multi dimensional sense for the period and its common depictions. Venus De Milo is an ancient Greek sculpture, created sometime between 100 and 130 BCE, with heavy reference to the Hellenistic period. It was discovered on April 8, 1820 within the ancient ruins of the Greek Island Melos. The discovery was made by a man named Yorgos Kentrotas and was later

Emotional abuse is a lot more common in marriages than physical abuse because a lot of the time it comes from both sides. In most cases of this kind of abuse, one spouse is constantly putting the other down or they both are putting each other down. In study for the University of Oklahoma, women said one of the reasons they divorced their husband was the constant scrutinizing of

Therefore the definition of tenant in section 3(1) of the RDA is construed to even include a subtenant, who during the period of the lease acquires the consent of the tenant to be actual occupation of the leased premises whether or not he has become the occupant of the landlord s premise. This was held in the case of Smart Woman Ltd. v. Saleway Estates Ltd. (1987) (Matauschek 2010). In enforcing the right to distress, the landlord or his bailiff is restricted from breaking into the leased premises. • 14. Fashion Values In The Fashion Industry The current reality of clothing production, called fast fashion, is the industry standard of mass producing luxury styles in a matter of weeks. To do so, clothes are churned out quickly using poor quality materials. This is problematic because of the large amount of unnecessary environmental damage that this business model causes. The fashionindustry should abandon the current trend of fast fashion and disposable clothingto decrease the amount of hazardous environmental waste created. The fashion industry should adopt slow fashion values that aim to cut excess consumer waste by changing the current societal norms around fashion buying and clothing disposal. Fast fashion has become the pinnacle of the fashion industry because it is very profitable. Cheap material and cheap overseas labor has made places like Walmart, Zara, and H M twice as profitable as any retail store (Cline, The Clothes Make the Movement , 21). The average American household spends one thousand and seven hundred dollars on apparel every year. One third of the average household expense is claimed by women aged sixteen and older who spend over five hundred dollars on clothing and shoes annually (Bureau of Labor Statistics). That dollar amount translates into an average of sixty eight items of clothing and seven pairs of shoes per the average American (Cline, The Clothes Make the Movement , 21). Cheap textile materials quickly fall apart, lose color and shape, and are replaced by new fashion trends.

Her writing is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one way. Sylvia Plath herself was complicated, and she struggled with her own personal hardships up until the day she took her own life. Plath s father passed when she was only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only though the rest of her childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems, such as The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father. Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot only be interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or even understand through her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The Colossus, a poem widely believed to stem from her own experiences with death and depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery that exposes the pain of living forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large statue. A colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was considered one of the tallest statues during that time. The speaker of Sylvia s poem tries to put together a man, whether it be her father or not, to understand him. She considers him a monument, a colossus, an ancient wonder of the world that holds power

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Monitoring HRV can provide information about the function of the autonomic nervous system. HRV is a non invasive index of the neural control of the heart (Acharya, Sing, Ping Chua, 2004). Although it is difficult to establish a particular standard normal heart rate for a given individual, most individuals have a typical range from 60 to 100 beats per minute (Fox et al., 2007). However, the interval between each heartbeat constantly varies. High frequency variability in RR reflects parasympathetic activation, while a slower variability in RR reflects a combination of both parasympathetic and sympathetic modulation along with non autonomic factors. When interpreting HRV data, there are several components in the power spectrum that can have fluctuating ranges. A power spectrum is a plot of the portion of a signal s power or energy per unit time, falling within given frequency bands. The three major bands of the power spectrum in HRV are high frequency (HF), low frequency (LF), and very low frequency (VLF). A HF peak typically ranges between 0.15 Hz to 0.4 Hz, while a LF peak ranges from 0.06 to 0.15 Hz. A VLF peak is below .05 Hz (Kamath Fallen, 1993). The LF is associated with blood pressure control and reflects sympathetic activity. The HF is correlated with respiratory sinus arrhythmia and reflects parasympathetic activity

Surrogacy is defined as an arrangement by which a woman gives birth to a baby on behalf of a woman who is incapable of conceiving babies herself or is infertile. The issue of surrogacy has been running for almost three decades. Elizabeth Cane was the first woman in the United States to legally become a surrogate mother in 1980 (Chittom and Wagner). Surrogate births are illegal in many countries, including some states in the United States. For example, it is illegal in Michigan, Washington, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and New York, whereas it legal in California, Oregon, Texas, and Arkansas (Chittom and Wagner). According to the Organization of Parents Through Surrogacy(OPTS), about 22,000 babies have been born from surrogate mothers in the United States since surrogacy became legal in the 1970s (Chittom and Wagner). There are two types of surrogacy: traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy. In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother is impregnated using the sperm of the intended father by a procedure called donor insemination. In this case, the surrogate mother and the intended father are genetically related to the baby. In gestational surrogacy, a procedure called in vitro fertilization is used to impregnate the surrogate mother using a couple s fertilized ovum (Chittom and Wagner). There are two types of surrogacy arrangements: altruistic and commercial. In

According to Yegul (Accessed 2015), Roman concreteor opus caementicium was developed around 45 BCE. Concrete was used by the Romans as a building material because it converts to a hard surface like a rock when mixed in the right combination of components. It takes three components to make a concrete substance. The three substances are an aggregate such as limestone, a binding agent such as clay or mud, and water. It was discovered that if you combine clay and limestone and expose it to extreme heat temperatures that it will temper. After these substances temper, they are then crushed into a powdery substance. At this point in the process this powdery mixture when mixed with water can be formed into many different shapes for building. The mixture then sets with time and air. • 27. The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement Purpose This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective. Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012). Methodology The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand placement characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process. They conducted a thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand recognition in brand attitude

  • 34. Outsiders By Howard S. Becker Outsiders Howard S. Becker 1.When a rule is enforced, the person who is supposed to have broken it may be seen as a special kind of person, one who cannot be trusted to live by the rules agreed on by the group. He is regarded as an outsider. But the person who is thus labeled an outsider may have a different view of the matter. He may not accept the rule by which he is being judged and may not regard those who judge him as either component or legitimately entitled to do so. Hence, a second meaning of the term emerges: the rule breaker may feel his judges are outsiders. This quote from the book Outsiders by Howard S. Becker gives the idea that there are social laws, or rules , and when broken you are considered an outsider. This is shown when Becker, as seen above, says, When a rule is enforced . What he says also sets up the different points of view. When Becker says, person who is supposed to have , he means the person who breaks the rule may not consider it a rule at all or just not think it applies to him, a special kind of person . Showing how the deviant person sets himself/herself apart from the general public, this person will not be offended by the people who judge him because he sees the said judger as an outsider himself. Because the outsiders or said rule breakers can see the people not breaking the social norms as outsiders too, it sets up a subculture or a deviant society, where there is mutuality in non conformity. Communication Is A Basic Tool For Humans Essay Communication is a basic tool for humans as it allows the relationship with the environment, with which it is inherent in the human condition because human beings need to establish and maintain relationships that provide gratification and collect information that to identify needs for welfare. The task of communicating has always existed. As humans we interact with our environment, continuously we emit messages (verbal or non verbal), to the world around us. From nursing to establish a correct support relationship with patients, we must learn to communicate. For this we need to acquire a range of abilities and skills that will ensure the wellbeing of the patient in a holistic aspect (bio psycho social) such as empathy and active listening based on respect. A pregnancy can be a very scary time in a women s life, especially if this is her first birth. Obstetricians help a soon to be mother understand a variety of different facts, such as due date, nutrition for the fetus, monitoring complications and so much more! With such a heavy expense with not equal return, hospitals are beginning to stop these services. The article by Commins explained how hospitals are cutting the costs by having a family doctor deliver a child, instead of hiring obstetricians. Without a specialist there could be a raise in postnatal deaths. My older sister was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. Without a team of specialized, well trained doctors, my sister may have not of survived. Not only would the death rate of infants increase, women would also feel uneasy about their pregnancy. Blanchard illustrates this when Jim Barnes implicitly threatens Wes Kingsley s job because Wes is being too soft. Jim assumes that since Wes, like every worker, lacks motivation and wants to do as little as possible while still collecting a pay check, it is his responsibility to provide a direct reward or punishment in order to ensure Wes s performance. This contrasts sharply with the style Wes learns from Shamu and the Seaworld team, who believe that trust between whale and trainer (in Wes s case, manager and employee) is most important. This falls in line with Theory Y management in its belief that under proper, caring (WRONG WORD) management, workers can be self motivated and flourish. Similar to how Dave Yardley believes Shamu inherently enjoys performing (when treated well), Theory Y/Whale Done managers trust that their workers want to succeed and welcome responsibility above the bare minimum. The managers believe that it is just as much in their employees nature to work and complete tasks as it is to rest or play. Both Blanchard and MacGregor illustrate that Theory Y/Whale Done management is clearly best not only for employee morale, but also productivity. This growth has occurred economically as well, with an average GDP increase of 10 percent between 1962 and 1994 (The World Bank). This report looks into the development of South Korean buildingcodes. Figure 1: Timeline of Significant Events in South Korea s Building History The 1970 s oil crisis occurred when an oil embargo was imposed by members of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries. This led to fuel shortages and high prices around the world (History.com). Due to Korea s limited resources, it imports all of its coal, oil and natural gas. At the time of the United States Department of Energy s report into Building Energy Codes in the Republic of Korea, Korea was the second largest importer of coal and one of the largest for oil and natural gas. It also reported an emission of 515 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide by the country in the year 2006 (Evans, Chon and Shui). Early Building Standards The first official building standard came into effect in 1977. It was a result of the 1970 s oil crisis. This outlined the mandatory building standards of insulation thickness.

The plains are infested with beasts that have claws, horns, or tusks that growl, hiss, or grunt. These beasts lives are filled with struggle, trying to survive; Death is not unfamiliar here. Assaulting the sun s blue domain, Kilimanjaro stands unmoving: undying. No beasts live at the peak of Kilimanjaro and few beasts attempt to summit the House of God. In the distance a man lies in the shade of a mimosa tree, making an acquaintance with Death. It is the man s final words and thoughts that make the story, The Snows of Kilimanjaro. The black ink on the colorless page tells the story of this man, Harry, and his interaction with his wife on his deathbed while remembering his own life and wishing he had done more. Behind the bars of words lies a deeper truth common to all of mankind. Ernest Hemingway conveys in his short story the placement of man in terms of the temporary and the eternal. He depicts society s grievance towards death. He explores the permanence of death and the denial of its power of mankind. Hemingway also presents two sides of death, how it is both wild and savage, yet welcoming and trusted. By careful usage of setting, characters, and weather, Hemingway writes more than a story of one man dying, but the story of all men dying. Harry lies under a mimosa tree, rooted in the heart of Africa. This setting is important to the story in many ways.

I will first be going over desertion and the effect it had on the Confederate side during the Civil War. Desertion played a huge role is the war, even more than I originally thought. Then, I will be diving into how the Civil War affected family life, as the men went off to fight, leaving the woman and kids at home take care of the homes. Lastly I will be arguing how the film Cold Mountain is a pretty historically accurate film, using great detail with the props and storyline, to fully immerse viewers to life in the 1860s. Desertion during the Civil War plagued both sides, but was detrimental to the weaker South. In Cold Mountain, Inman, who was a Confederate Soldier, deserts the army after being shot in the neck during a skirmish with the North. His goal was to get home to Ada, a woman from Cold Mountain who was waiting for his return. This kind of abandonment was not uncommon during the lengthy war, with around 10 to 15 percent of Confederate Soldiers deserting throughout the war. The 44th Virginia Regiment had the highest desertion rate during the war of, nearly 30 percent. Many things caused this, such as: faulty equipment, spoiled food, and unresponsive leadership. Many of the Soldiers were not happy with the Confederate governments polices, but did not come right out and say it. The Conscription Act, which required all males between 18 and 35 to serve in the
  • 51. Similarities Between Bergman And Ingmar Bergman Ingmar Bergman. Ingmar Bergman s films commonly deal with his doubts about the existence of God, earning him the sobriquet the protestant atheist . His religious interests came from his childhood. His father, Erik, was a Lutheran pastor of the old school. Although the two never had a close relationship, Ingmar would often travel with his father to country parishes, where he listened to the sermons and hymns and studied the icons and architecture to pass the time during services that seemed interminable to a restless young boy. His relationship with his mother Karin wasn t any more nurturing and Ingmar grew up in a lonely house. He found solace in Puppet Theater and projections. Throughout his long film career Bergman continued to deal with themes of psychological torment,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its focus is more on psychological trauma; the explosion of fear and emotion when facing past regrets. There is however, a direct correlation between the two. Unlike The Seventh Seal, the religious element in Wild Strawberries is minor even though both are variations on the questions that constitute the majority of comprehensive themes in Bergman s work. In both films the protagonist must face the truth about his past and present. This is achieved here through what Carl Jung called The Night Sea Journey . A journey into the individuals own subconscious. Dreams and hallucinations are the most accessible mediums of this type of psychic trip; the proximity of death as in Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal can provide a catalyst for such a journey. Bergman has an ability to convince an audience that the dream sequence projected on the screen, while inherently artificial is believable. It is through these dream sequences that Bergman s symbolism becomes enigmatic, probing the recesses of the individuals psyche and the complexities of human relationships that could not otherwise be explained

The story of us is an excellent movie that portrays the roller coaster of marriage in a humorous and cleaver way. The film reiterates the key concepts we have learned in our interpersonal communication class, in particular chapters ten and eleven on conflict management and improving communication climates. According to Gibb people feel defensive when they perceive that they are under attack. When defensive responses arise in interpersonal communications, it is the relationship itself that becomes defensive. This is evident in the Jordan s communication patterns, the majority of exchanges between Ben and Katie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story of Harold and the purple crayon, when Harold wants to go for a walk in the moonlight, but there is no moon, he draws one. Similarly Ben s views of marriage and relationships is unrealistic, he states that he has always imagined life to be like this Two people meet, fall in love and then 50 60 years later one of them dies and then a few days after that the other dies because it just can t live without each other (Reiner Rob, 2001) . Defensive behavior from one party in a relationship evokes defensive behavior on the part of the other. This dynamic cycle of defensiveness can intensify as described In Gibb s second category of defensive behavior, control in the film this is exhibited in the scene when Ben and katie return from a romantic holiday in Venice. Their first night back, they compose a cuddly letter to their two kids, who are off at camp. Within minutes, the conversation is dotted with grace notes of dissatisfaction, which grow steadily louder until they ve drowned out everything else. Should Ben and Katie have sex now, or after they finish the letter? Was Katie more spontaneous in Venice? Was the vacation a charade? I just don t want us to get to the point, says Ben, where we can t make love unless there s a concierge downstairs. (Reiner Rob, 2001) . The argument isn t really about sex, of course. It s
